Norway sinks enemy(??) warship
Spectacular photo.

Clear thinking here:
Given that the frigate is one of only five operated by the Norwegian navy, its loss is likely to impact on national and NATO operations. But the country's military will have to carefully consider the cost of salvaging and repairing it for active service.
Pape told CNN: "Curiously, if the ship is not repaired, the reduction of one ship that needs to be maintained, upgraded, manned and used over the remaining 20 years of its life will mean that cost for the navy could go down in the long run, however with a loss of capability."
If they sink all 5 in the fjord they could build a bridge over the fjord too.

A tragic loss.Remember our own loss of a Leander after a collision at Bombay? It reportedly caught fire after the collision adding to the damage. What is surprising about this sinking is that the Norwegian frigate is supposed to have had the ability to stay afloat even after multiple compartments were flooded. Its captain reportedly ran the frigate aground in order to save her. Her naval architect designers will be scratching their heads in disbelief.

They ran it aground. Then the brilliant engineers tied cables to it and dragged it back out into deeper water- and the cables broke, so that only the top remains visible. Great addition to the Norwegian submarine fleet.

Europeans are civilized, cultured and peaceful. They do like to stay warm in winter though.
Paris: The City of Light(ers)

Violence erupted on the streets of the city of lights on Saturday as about 8,000 protesters faced off against thousands of police deployed to contain the demonstrations.
As angry protesters blocked streets and lit various materials on fire, including large sheets of plywood and garbage bins, police hurled tear gas and shot water cannons on the crowds, the majority of which were centered near the Champs-Elysees.

its just symptom of a megatrend where just being born in a OECD country, or able to sneak into one, is no guarantee of a middle class life with good social benefits. it is happening in america also, with the added layers of black history and police state.

in the middle ages, extra resources could be gathered from colonies and extra manpower pushed out to colonies - whether on trumped up 's/he stole a penny' charges to australia or to grab land, eradicate natives and spread out by sword and fire.

for a few decades in 20th century there was also a overwhelming technology gap which they could profit from and trickle down to bottom layer...not so much now.

the manthan is just starting :) just the weight & wealth of colonial history and gora skin is not going be acceptable as a gate pass now.

the EU is hiding and holding up a lot of weaker players via a hard currency backstopped by the likes of germany and france. if we consider each EU country on its own merit, who is dressed and who is nanga is quite apparent. no more cushy 5* vacations to the tropics for the PIIGS for one.

shades of Bane here, calling forth the underclass

Image

Masked, black-clad groups ran amok across central Paris on Saturday, torching cars and buildings, looting shops, smashing windows and fighting police in the worst unrest the capital has seen since 1968, posing the most formidable challenge Emmanuel Macron has faced in his 18-month-old presidency.

Disturbances also rocked several cities and towns and across France - from Charleville Mezieres in the northeast to Nantes in the west and Marseille in the south

At last, a people’s revolt against the tyranny of environmentalism. Paris is burning. Not since 1968 has there been such heat and fury in the streetsThousands of ‘gilets jaunes’ stormed the capital at the weekend to rage against Emmanuel Macron and his treatment of them with aloof, technocratic disdain. And yet leftists in Britain and the US have been largely silent, or at least antsy, about this people’s revolt. The same people who got so excited about the staid, static Occupy movement a few years ago — which couldn’t even been arsed to march, never mind riot — seem struck dumb by the sight of tens of thousands of French people taking to the barricades against Macronism.
Yes, what is the reason for the murikans inability to violently protest? The freest country, the bravest people, the land of unending hedonism, all with piss-water in their veins? Maybe people can start storming McD's and Starbucks, to get a rise from the sacks of suet.
. Most strikingly this is a people’s rebellion against the onerous consequences of climate-change policy, against the politics of environmentalism and its tendency to punish the little people for daring to live relatively modern, fossil-fuelled lives. This is new. This is unprecedented. We are witnessing perhaps the first mass uprising against eco-elitism
The ‘gilet jaunes’ — or yellow-vests, after the hi-vis vests they wear — are in rebellion against Macron’s hikes in fuel tax. As part of his and the EU’s commitment to cutting carbon emissions, Macron is punishing the drivers of diesel vehicles in particular, raising the tax by 7.6 cents for every litre of diesel fuel. This will badly hit the pockets of those in rural France, who need to drive, and who can’t just hop on buses as deluded Macronists living in one of the fancy arrondissements of Paris have suggested they should. These people on the periphery of French society — truck drivers, provincial plumbers, builders, deliverymen, teachers, parents — have rocked up to the centre of French society in their tens of thousands three times in recent weeks, their message the same every time: ‘Enough is enough. Stop making our lives harder.’
For years we have lived in a climate of ‘You can’t say that’. You can’t criticise mass immigration — that’s xenophobia. You can’t oppose the EU — that’s Europhobia. You can’t raise concerns about radical Islam — that’s Islamophobia. You can’t agitate against climate-change policy — that’s climate-change denialism, on a par with Holocaust denialism, and anyone who dares to bristle against eco-orthodoxy deserves to be cast out of polite society. And yet now, in this populist moment, people are daring to say precisely these unsayable things. They’re standing up to the EU. They’re demanding that immigration become a democratic concern rather than something worked out for us by unaccountable bureaucrats in Brussels. And now they’re even grating against the hitherto unquestionable religious-style diktat that we must all drive less, shop less and do less in order to ‘save the planet’.
A sign of the time to come; but only for the people not for the sheep.

white semi-rural murica might erupt in similar fashion if you make petrol as costly as EU or worse, attempt to confiscate their guns and put strict controls on ownership.

on second thought, add raising prices of alcohol to that list.

Denmark's Latest Stand Against 'Undesirable' Migrants: Ship Them To An Island

Lots of boootiful sentiments:
And providing an inhospitable environment for them is precisely the point.

"They are undesirable in Denmark, and they must notice!" Denmark's Immigration Minister Inger Støjberg posted to Facebook.
Støjberg says the residency permits for inhabitants will only allow them to set foot on the island and if they are caught elsewhere, they will be put "behind bars."

Further ensuring their isolation, they will have limited ferry access, Danish People's Party spokesman Martin Henriksen told Denmark's TV 2. "They do not have so much money, these people, and the more expensive we make the ferry ticket, the (more) difficult it will be for them to enter the mainland," Henriksen said.

Underscoring the island's toxic association, The New York Times reports one of the ferries now serving it is called the Virus. :rotfl:

For more leisure reading:
Political leaders refer to these areas as "holes in Denmark's map," where Danish language and values are lost to generation after generation of residents.

Currently, there are 25 ghettos in Denmark, scattered throughout the country. Of the 60,000 people living in these areas, two-thirds are from non-Western countries including Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan  and Somalia.

America has one more avenue for revenues that the EU had already exhausted... Marijuana. They'll use this to get more from the tax payer and manage along with supporting Saudi Arabia for some more oil. If needed, can also start fracking and pillage the Arctic.

My overactive imagination is saying what if this is another color revolution engineered by US, if it can be used in turd world countries why not western democracies? Macaroni has gone from replacement "leader of the free world", Napoleon reincarnated, to facing 18% approval rating (much hated orange has more that double).

Such violent protests are not new, but, Is it possible that, in the realm such imagination, such engineering has been amp-ed up using available-for-hire-to-protest-newly-entered-green-jobless-immigrant-foot-soldiers who can be activated easily?

Interesting. France is one of those countries with very labor friendly laws, and probably the last place where labor would feel threatened of getting hired/fired like in US or UK style. Looks like the wage growth has not occurred. Protests must have been very successful, because students are now protesting.

The more taxation, inflation, theft of people's earnings to profit banking and other scam "industries", the weaker the productive economy gets. People work harder only to see themselves get poorer. Eventually it destroys the productive economy.

What made the Western powers strong (other than robbing the non-white world through colonialism) was capitalism.

The idea that an individual could lead himself to prosperity through his own efforts, ingenuity, savings and entrepreneurship has given way to a class of rent seeking con men gaming the system to steal the earnings of others.

I trace this to the corruption of the monetary system. A monetary system that is under the enforced monopoly of a select few promotes corruption and cronyism. The same is true of any monopoly.

News gets more positive by the day. Or night in this case.
EU assembly stands by the divorce agreement sealed with Britain and that there can be no renegotiation of a provision guaranteeing that the Irish border remains open. "the withdrawal agreement is fair and cannot be replaced." Brish1t PMay is due in Brussels on Thursday to seek concessions to the Brexit deal. {Continuing in the rich traditions of Robert Clive}
Verhofstadt says "it is the U.K.'s obligation to now propose a positive and viable proposal on the way forward."
Tusk said: "I have been wondering what a special place in hell looks like for those who promoted Brexit without even a sketch of plan how to carry it safely."

A long time ago, I worked for quite some time with a few swiss gents who over the course of several months of association, after work gupshup and general discussions told me that if the europeans feared anyone in europe, it was the french because of their extreme cruelty which was like a second nature to them.

Yes, europe seems to be a festering ground of monsters, from sea to frozen wasteland; though that may be our species' collective consciousness that is geared towards all things european. For example, the dog eaters have a grand history of blood letting as well, and the ravages of the steppe folks on our own homeland is the stuff of terror, but the only terrible moment we would mention to an alien species would be the trillion billion loss of one nation of people during just one war.
Europeans sure have come a long way though, and can now be seen celebrating their freedom by their inability to draw certain motifs without being incarcerated, and their remembrance teaching of the horrors of only one war and how it must be avoided.
