Telling Them Why
Pakistan can ignore questions the world is asking, but not those of its own people

Written by Khaled Ahmed *| Published:June 25, 2016 12:06 am

*( Ex Captain Pakistan Army !)

Recent developments signal the need for change in Pakistan’s strategic outlook. There is alarm over India’s recent moves in Afghanistan and Iran, two of its neighbours that feel threatened by Pakistan. The Indian PM has gone to the US after the two issued warnings to Pakistan over safe havens in Pakistan still available to terrorists who strike across borders. Ignored in this chessboard are two developments that will benefit the entire region: Trade corridors linking South Asia westwards and northwards.
Pakistan variously sees the new scenario as the Great Game by America and Encirclement by India. Pakistanis repeat their India-never-accepted-Pakistan platitudes but they also ask some searching questions outside of the textbooks: If there is a drone-tipped Great Game unfolding against us, then why are we keeping on our territory elements that the world fears?
The most favourable development for the liberation of the tongue-tied has been Army Chief Raheel Sharif’s decision to take on the Taliban, of both Pakistani and Afghan varieties, in North Waziristan. More questions have, however, cropped up after this liberation about such “immune” people as Hafiz Saeed, and Maulana Abdul Aziz of the Red Mosque in Islamabad who can get innocent Pakistanis killed through al Qaeda. Pakistanis no longer take the killing of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad purely as an act of aggression by America. They are not sure any more about the American drones that killed such enemies of Pakistan as warlords Nek Muhammad, Baitullah Mehsud and Hakimullah Mehsud. The latest killing of the Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour has not aroused sympathy for the Taliban. The question they ask is: What was he doing in Pakistan?
On a fake Pakistani passport ; now the "poor clerk" at CNIC is being questioned for issuing him a fake identity card on order of Deep State !
Stimson Centre’s founder Michael Krepon, in his recent column in Dawn, Karachi, says, “Pakistan’s equities in Washington have shrunk with the declining US troop presence in Afghanistan and with Pakistan’s perceived need to hedge its bets.” The US will grow closer to India now that it is stripped of its uncertainty about Pakistan’s “double game” in Afghanistan. Whatever game it is, Pakistan too can’t make sense of it. Pakistan may not feel obliged to answer questions posed by the world, but it will have to answer the questions its own people are now asking.

At that time, it was "fashionable" not to question Mushy- the spokesman for an "enlightened and moderate" Islam !
Khalilzad thought Pakistan somehow didn’t change its view of the Afghan Taliban enjoying sanctuaries on its territory together with al Qaeda. He feared that these camps would grow in strength and one day might repeat the 9/11 assault on the superpower’s homeland. Like many others before him, he was unable to move Washington. When he went too far with his plaints about Pakistan’s “double game”, the State Department stopped him: “Secretary Colin Powell called me and told me outright to stop making public statements about these issues since they were causing problems in his dealings with Musharraf.” And this refusal to register was fostered by the cables received from Islamabad from Ambassador Nancy Powell...
Pakistan and India should look to link the two transformational developments in the region, the India-Chabahar-Iran-Central Asia trade hub and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, to broaden their scope. This will require a change in their conflict-based strategic thinking, but this will have to be done because the new challenges in the subcontinent are no longer bilateral but environmental, relating to water and food.
IMO,doubt that the Paki Fauj hatred of India and the quest for = = will ever be abandoned !

Any compromise on nukes non-negotiable: Aizaz Chaudhry (The all-important Enchendee factor  )

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Federal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry has said that any compromise on the country’s nuclear program is non-negotiable and Pakistan has made it clear to the world. In an interview, he said that matters like nuclear safety and arms control in the region could be deliberated over at any forum.
He said Pakistan’s nuclear program is solely aimed at deterring any aggression from the Indian side. The Foreign Secretary said Pakistan is ready to discuss every issue with India on dialogue table but without any pre-condition and on the basis of mutual respect.
IOW, nuclear bombs will be used if existence of Pakistan is at stake or Pakistan is losing a conventional war with India !!!
Regarding the issue of border management with Afghanistan, Aizaz Chaudhry said both the countries have agreed on a mechanism to discuss the issue
Nothing being said about the artificial Durand which the Afghans are not recognizing !
To another query, the foreign secretary said that Pakistan will continue efforts to muster the support of the NSG members for its membership. Being a responsible nuclear country, Pakistan fully qualifies for membership of the nuclear club, he added.

Uighur activist questions Pak silence on Xinjiang - Kallol Bhattacherjee, The Hindu
A prominent dissident from China has claimed that the Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang Province of the country have been denied rights to observe religious rituals in the month of Ramzan, and has questioned the silence of Pakistan which despite its cultural ties with Xinjiang has avoided commenting on the condition of the community.

“The Uighurs of Xinjiang… are being denied the right to observe Ramzan. But we know that Pakistan which is vocal for the rights of Muslims elsewhere is wary of commenting on condition of the Uighurs in China,” said Dolkun Isa, the exiled leader of the Uighur freedom movement of Xinjiang, explaining that deep ties between Islamabad and Beijing prevents Pakistan from taking up Uighur issue.

Mr. Isa is based in Munich and has faced travel restrictions due to Chinese pressure on host countries.

He claimed that Pakistan was actively helping China in containing the anti-Beijing resistance from the Uighurs.

His comment is significant as it comes in the backdrop of Pakistan signing the Memorandum of Obligations at the Tashkent summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) on Friday, which will further enhance Pakistan-China security cooperation. “We fear that growing Chinese anti-terror cooperation under such regional groups will be used to unfairly target the innocent Uighurs in Xinjiang in the coming days,” said Mr. Isa.

Young And Bright "Greens " Are Joining ISIS !

Pakistan’s Best And Brightest Young Minds Are Joining ISIS
Russ Read

Pakistan, an ostensible U.S. ally in the fight against terrorism, is suffering a major brain drain of youth pledging themselves to Islamic State.ISIS as a terrorist group has utilized a markedly different strategy in Pakistan compared to others, according to a report by Samira Shackle of the United Kingdom’s The Times. Instead of recruiting from the vulnerable poorer populations, the terrorist group is actively attracting Pakistan’s young intelligentsia.“The aim is, we are going for a third world war. We have to secure our Muslim countries for World War Three,” said Babar Zaman Khan, an graduate student at the University of Karachi, to The Times.

The Pakis are fearing "competition" from ISIS, so the Paki Fauj is coming hard on any news of ISIS making its entry into Pakiland !
“We have a link to Daesh [ISIS], to some leaders of Daesh out of the country,Officially, the Pakistani government has banned the ISMP, but that does not appear to have affected its support.Khan claimed that not only does the group have “thousands of fans” across Karachi, it also has six chapters in the U.K. and others in the Netherlands and Denmark.
The University of Karachi is a well-known hotbed of Islamic extremism. An al-Qaida-linked organization known as “Izhaab” or “Ashab” was investigated by Pakistani authorities in 2014 after it was found to be distributing radical material on campus. Some students have taken their activities to the next level, such as a Haafiz Nasir (AKA Yasir) who was one of four well-educated terrorists arrested in connection with several terrorist attacks in Pakistan in 2015.

Karachi operation can never be successful, I think ISI has based entire Taliban inside Karachi's congested bylanes in specific pashtun dominated areas. Sohrab Goth for one and then there are plenty others.

this entire target killing and kidnapping business in Karachi had 3 angles:

1 PPP Gundas (Uzair baloch & gang)
2 MQM Gundas (Saulat Mirza & Qamar Mansoor buddies)
3 ANP + Taliban

Out of these 3, the first two have been more or less neutralized by the 'rangers' in battle mode and active intervention by the army by establishing military courts. But the 3rd and final one is the tricky part.

ISI and agencies have blocked full-scale assault on the Taliban dominated areas because they are essential R&R areas for afghan taliban.
Chief reason is it is easy to hide Afghan taliban in southern most densely populated Karachi.
Karachi is well-connected to Balochistan, which is a staging ground for Afghan Taliban.
US drones cannot strike in densely populated cities like Karachi.

So on purpose, many millions of Afghan refugees were resettled in Karachi to help this Afghan Taliban disperse into their midst. This spoilt the ethnic balance of Karachi and bought about massive lawlessness.

this is what happens when you allow a country to be ruled by ISI.

since army is basically pakjabi, the ISI thought it fit to dump the Afghan Taliban into Sindh & Balochistan but kept them away from Pakjab.

Now it is in a catch-22 because without cleaning out Taliban areas and compromising their Afghan Taliban front, ISI cannot hope in hell to make Karachi anywhere near normal.

& whenever they need to blame the Taliban, who are responsible, but they cannot do it because they have reared these pet snakes in their midst to occupy Afghanistan by proxy.

they turn around and blame R&AW.

So whenever paki media blames R&AW, almost 100% it is some activity of the taliban.

Entire paki media knows this, but cannot say it out loud because they will be visited next morning.

At last count (you know Pakistan has never been properly counted in past few decades), atleast 70 million pashtuns live in Karachi. More than double the entire population of Afghanistan.

There never was a census, so this is just conservative estimates.

This concern showed by Al Bakistan about sending back afghan refugees is a ploy to push in taliban into afghanistan sensing a US withdrawal.

After Chahbahar was operationalized by India, and the chahbahar-afghanistan railway line is about to start building, Pakistan will very likely now agree to allow transit via wagah to torkham.
That is why they are building infrastructure at torkham and other border crossings to put their flag on disputed FATA & KP, which is actually a core issue between Afghanistan & Pakistan.

Minor nitpick. It must be 70 million Pashtuns in Pakistan not Karachi. 7 crore would be 5 times the population of Delhi-NCR!

It's 7 million pashtuns in Karachi. Sorry.

Karachi is very well connected to Baluchistan, and anyone kidnapped in Karachi can be transported to Balochistan within 3 hours. There are network of highways and kachcha roads connecting Karachi to Balochistan.

So rarely is any kidnapped person in Karachi ever found again.

Gagan Ji :

With all due respect and reverence, India must never, but never, use Cwapistan to access Afghanistan or the CARs.

If India does that then it will have to allow the Cwapistanis Access to Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh to their Truck and Rail Traffic.

This will give the Cwapistani unlimited abilities and facilities to send thousands nay Millions of Cwapistani Spies into India as you will agree every Cwapistani Illegal Immigrant in India is a Spy. In addition Nepal and Bangladesh will be used as "Staging" Bases for Cwapistanis in send Illegal Immigrants and Terrorists into India.

One of the main reason for Cwapistan's defeat in East Pakistan now Bangladesh was that Cwapistani Aircraft -Civil and Military - had to go to East Pakistan via Colombo which is the reason for the Cwapistani Air Force being unable to carry out the required "Air Missions" to thwart the Indian advance.

China Sends 'B' List Invitation To Pakistan To Tap The" Halal Market ".!

China invites Pakistan to tap halal food market

BEIJING:
Pakistan, the second largest exporter of rice to China, has every opportunity to grab a sizable share in the halal food market as well as meet the demand for fruits, primarily mangoes, through better competitiveness in terms of quality and price, (IOW, diplomatese for (i) reduce your price (ii) Improve your "poor quality " ) said Ye Anping, Director for Asia and African Affairs, Department of International, Ministry of Agriculture, China.
Talking to a group of journalists from South Asia, who were on a visit to China, he said Pakistan and China should enter into livestock and agriculture quarantine agreements to clear the way for export of meat and agricultural products to Beijing.
Ye emphasised that countries keen to enhance exports of agricultural products to China needed to understand the demand from Chinese markets and also ought to be extremely competitive.
The bureaucrat, in order to "save face of the Pakis" is saying that if price and quality is not up to standard, we can get it from other suppliers (like India!)
He also invited the countries interested in gaining access to the halal market of China to attend the China-Arab States Expo that was held in Ningxia Hui autonomous region every two years in September
So, no "special treatment" for the Pakis by the "taller than mountain fliends", reference "tapping" of the halal market - as the "dishonest" headline in this newspaper implies ? their 'B ' List invitation" ( 'A' list invitation reserved for Arab Ummah only !) is a dose of reality to the Pakis exaggerated sense of their friendship !

Pakistanis Not Capable Of "Tapping" Into Chinese Market : Ministry Of Commerce Officials- Govt Of Pakistan
(sentiments echoed by Mr. Ye Anping above !)

Pakistan has failed when it comes to trade with China

ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan has been unable to fully tap and utilise the concessions granted by China under the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA) and only used 3.3% of the total tariff lines, said a review of the first phase of CPFTA.
According to official sources, the Ministry of Commerce is reviewing the first phase of the CPFTA, which revealed that Pakistan could only export in 253 tariff lines out of the total 7550, where average export value was $500.

So, 96.7% of the "tariff lines" remain unused ! And only 253 tariff lines out of 7550 were availed of (less than 5%) ; so, IOW, their traders, businessmen, manufacturers are not "at par" with traders of other countries or as the Hon Chinese Minister hinted that they need to be competitive in price as well as quality; but honestly, what can Pakistan really offer China, except for some raw materials, (hide, skins, rice, fish etc ) which the Chinese process it and convert it in high value items for export or for local consumption.

Conclusion : Pakistan, a basket-case of the first order  (propped up by the 3.5 !)

MQM Being Blamed For " Everything Wrong Under The Sun In Krachi " !

Breakthrough in Amjad Sabri murder case, CTD arrests suspect affiliated with MQM

KARACHI (Staff Report) – The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Qawwal Amjad Sabri on Saturday. The suspect, caught from Surjani Town, is reportedly an affiliate of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, the city’s dominant political party. He was shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
Police and investigative agencies seized another 4 suspects through geofencing on Friday.

I guess, this is a "good technic" to kill two birds with one stone; further defame the already defamed party of Altaf Bhai by arresting one of their (MQM) members and thus give a bad name to MQM in the eyes of the Karachi Aam Aadmi ! ; and at the same time, relieve the public/ political pressure to solve the heinous murder of the Sufi singer; case solved no further work needed; since public memory is short in this day and age of 24/7 news cycle, no one would remember that Qari Mehsud of TTP had accepted responsibility for the attack !

PS: Possibly the same "technic" was employed in solving the murder case of Pro- Baluchistan activist Sabeen Mahmud (!) ; which to all observers looked like a ISI hit job, but was blamed on someone who was radicalized !

Pakistan Is Always In The News Whenever There Is News On Terrorism

858 killed: Not a day in April passed without a terror attack
By Robyn Dixon and Aoun Sahi June 24, 2016

Habib Ullah chugged along a dusty road in rural Pakistan on his battered motorcycle, his wife, infant son and 7-year-old daughter hanging on — a family of farm laborers on their way to work the fields.
A 60-year-old father of seven, Ullah was steering through the barren, mountainous district of Khuzdar, in Pakistan’s poorest province.
The family never reached the fields. One of the motorcycle’s wheels struck a mine on Loop Leak Road.
Only the little girl, Aliya survived. The Baluchistan Liberation Army, which has been waging a campaign of terror in western Pakistan in a bid for independence, claimed responsibility.Khuzdar, Pakistan

It was April 12, 2016. That day, 590 miles to the northeast, the deputy police superintendent in the city of Mingora was shot to death as he stopped to buy fruit, an attack for which the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility.

Top billing on Terrorism News exclusively "reserved" for Pakistan - the epi-centre of terrorism !
Nearly 1,900 miles away, in Sidon, Lebanon, a car bomb killed a senior Palestinian official...
In the Kidal region of Mali, three French soldiers died when their car hit a mine planted by militants

Mr & Ms Birkin Babe
We cannot conquer Kashmir through war'

SLIMABAD: Former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Sunday said Pakistan cannot "conquer Kashmir through war" and progress on the issue can only me made in an environment of mutual trust with India."I believe that Pakistan cannot conquer Kashmir through war and if we cannot do that, the option we are left with is dialogue, and dialogue can only proceed with a partner with which we have normal relations and a certain level of mutual trust," Khar said in an interview with Geo News. She claimed that the PPP government, despite being a coalition government, had tried its best to normalise ties with India through relaxation of visa rules and by normalising trade ties."The issues between the two countries cannot be resolved in a hostile environment."Khar, who remained Pakistan's foreign minister from 2011 to 2013, maintained that the Kashmir issue can be resolved "if we continue to talk on the issue, then we will reach somewhere".Answering a question regarding the military's influence on Pakistan's foreign policy, she said that it is a diplomat's job to carry forward the military's perspective on issues where the military is a relevant stake holder."Now let us ask ourselves, is US moving towards India because India is a nuclear state, or because it is a military power, no, it is people power and their democratic traditions, if we want to compete, lets compete on these grounds," said Khar. The former foreign minister also termed Pakistan's entry into Afghan Jihad a 'mistake' and maintained that Pakistan's dependence on US is more in "our minds than on the ground"."The foreign office is busy nowadays in apprising the nation about some country's leader sending flowers to the prime minister or inquiring about his health," said Khar."In 60 years, we have taught our children that our national identity is to hate someone, and we are doing it with those who are physically the nearest. Hostile with India and now hostile with Afghanistan," said the former foreign minister.

Hina Rabbani Khar, like all Pakistani politicians, speaks one thing when in power and quite another thing when out of it. A sense of reasonableness overcomes them when they are not in power.

But, they are all united in one thing. Going soft, very soft indeed, on the Army. Ms. Khar is afraid of answering the question about Army's interference in the foreign affairs and glibly says, "it is a diplomat's job to carry forward the military's perspective on issues where the military is a relevant stake holder". So, if she recognizes that the Pakistani Army is an important stakeholder whose perspectives have to be implemented by a civilian government, she is accepting the ovaearching inflluence of the PA. So, why does she beat about the bush about democracy then?

SSji, I believe you answered your own question there.

Why does she beat around the bush? Because that's all she can do.

The fact is no Paki, civvie or otherwise can say the obvious and live to see another day in Pakiland. They'll either hightail out of there ala the "good" Haqqani, Qaid-E-Qiwam or swallow their words, their pride and a lot more ala Khwaja Asif. 3.5 will not help them either.

she is sending a message to herr jarnail that it is pointless fighting a war with India, & if he thinks so too then this civvie is on the same page.

In any case paki army and ISI are selfish organizations which do not care 2 hoots about the people they are guarding, unless those people happen to be their relatives or elites. When they do a terror strike on India using deniable assets, they know full well India will do one back using their deniable assets too.

Any sensible person will ask, then why they do it, i.e if they care for their own people.

Bhurishrava, the angst by Raheel bhai is understandable for two reasons. Pakistanis are heaping praise on Raheel bhai for successfully conducting Zerb-e-Azb and a host of new targetted attacks cases, that sully his fair name, is catching his goatee. Secondly, the Rangers took over Karachi and these high-profile incidents show them in poor light. For example, when Khurram Zaki was killed a few months back or when Sabeen Mahmud was killed last year, he wasn't much perturbed.

Pakistan Still Thinks That A Good Lobbying Firm In D.C. Will Solve Its (Image!) Problem With Congress !

Pakistan looks for US lobbyist amid diplomatic challenges

WASHINGTON: Two recent diplomatic disasters — the US refusal to subsidise an F-16 deal and the Obama administration’s campaign to induct India into the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) — have forced Pakistan to look for a paid lobbyist in the US capital.
Pakistan Embassy spokesman Nadeem Hotiana confirmed to Dawn that the country was now looking for a lobbyist “but has not yet taken any decision”.

Ten Million Dollar Question: where is the money coming from ? Massa (aid loan) money recycled back to Massaland to pay US lobbyists?
PPP hired Locke Lord mainly because one of its partners, Mark Siegel, was a personal friend of the late prime minister Benazir Bhutto. But embassy officials, even during the PPP rule, often felt that the firm was doing little to promote Pakistan’s interests in Washington.
Pakistan’s main expectation from the firm was to promote its interests on Capitol Hill, where it often has to face angry lawmakers every time an issue related to the country is discussed. But the firm had little influence on the Hill.
To be fair to Locke Lord, some of the issues it had to deal with during this period (2008-13) were beyond its control.
Even the most influential lobbyists would have found it impossible to plead Pakistan’s case on the Hill, in the media or in Washington’s power corridors after Osama bin Laden’s discovery in Abbottabad.

A difficult account !!! No amount of "image building" is possible if the "product ie Pakistan is defective" PR 101 !
The Americans believed that Pakistan feared India’s increasing influence in Afghanistan and that’s why it was not severing its ties with the so-called good Taliban, particularly the Haqqani network.
There was little Pakistani diplomats could do to remove such doubts and suspicions. Only the change that the Americans were demanding could have salvaged the F-16 deal. But diplomats could do little to make it happen.

Cannot fool all the people all the time !!!
Diplomatic observers in Washington say that in these circumstances, even the best lobbyist could only try to improve Pakistan’s image, particularly on the Hill, but cannot promise to deliver.
“So Pakistan must think carefully before hiring a new lobbyist, as it costs money and a lot of it,” (which Pakistan does not have !)said one observer.
Lobbyists say that it is not only the strains in US-Pakistan relations that make it difficult to lobby for Pakistan. They argue that major power players in Pakistan — the civilian government, the military and the intelligence — are all to be satisfied which is a tough job.

No self respecting lobbying firm can honestly push Pakistan weird policies (sponsor terrorism) and expect support from US legislators

Chinese man held by FIA for stealing data from bank ATM
KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a Chinese national, stated to be a young man, for allegedly stealing data from a private bank with skimming devices at one of its ATM facilities, it emerged on Saturday.

Sources said the arrest came after the bank management approached the FIA for its assistance when they observed suspicious activity of two foreigners at their Plaza Square branch. The management through monitoring the footages of the closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) installed inside the ATM facility noticed that the foreigners spent an unduly long time there though for not any visible job.

After the arrest, the FIA formally launched investigations into the matter, which revealed a few facts and helped in lodging the case against the suspect, identified as Xie Yi. He had landed in Pakistan on June 18 with a friend named Xie Rongjing.

“They were staying in a guesthouse in Bath Island,” said the source. “The FIA team visited that place as well and searched the room the suspect was staying in. The search led to the recovery of some electronic equipment, two skimming devices, each having a 16GB memory card, Chinese passports and identity cards of the suspects and different cards of Chinese banks.”

The FIA team also made attempts to arrest the other suspect and also approached Chinese diplomats and offices in the city to trace his links, said the source but he was still at large.

At last Modi Ji truthfully opines about the India-Cwapi Relationship :

India will have to be alert, conscious all the time with Pakistan: PM Modi

NEW DELHI: Having taken risky initiatives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India will have to be "alert and conscious" all the time but wondered with whom in Pakistan red lines can be drawn for conducting talks — with the elected government or "other actors".

He also said that India would have to drive home the advantage on the fact that the world is now convinced of its views on terrorism from across the border by continuing to put forth its views on this matter.

"The first thing is that with whom in Pakistan you will decide about laxman rekha — with an elected government or with other actors. So India will have to be alert and conscious all the time. There should not be any laxity and negligence," he told Times Now channel.

Modi was asked what is the 'lakshman rekha' for holding talks Pakistan because in 2014 it was said it will be only talks between the two countries and not with Hurriyat, the second was 26/11 and now Pathankot.

He said because of his consistent efforts like the visit to Lahore or inviting the Pakistan Prime Minister here that he no longer has to convince the world about India's stand on terrorism.

"The world in one voice is praising India's role. Pakistan is finding it difficult to answer. The world is watching. If we remain an obstacle then we will have to convince the world that we are not like this.

"Earlier the world would not buy India's theory on terrorism and sometime it would even treat it as out law and order problem. Now the whole world is accepting what India says on terrorism. It is accepting the loss caused to India by terorrism, the loss caused to humanity by terrorism. I believe India will have to continue putting forth its view on this matter," the prime minister said.

Beggars always - DAWN
“The crux of the problem is that we cannot play home series against international sides which is denigrating towards us. We intend to propose that as we cannot play series at home and we are obliged to hire expensive venues in other countries, therefore the ICC should help us overcome this problem. Let's see how the ICC reacts to it and whilst they may be receptive to the idea, whether a formula emerges to compensate us for this expenditure is yet to be seen,” he [Shaharyar Khan] said.

International teams, sportsmen & women of any game do not visit Pakistan because of terrorism and especially after a visiting Sri Lankan team was attacked in 2009 which was globally televised. Now, Pakistan wants compensation for international teams not visiting Pakistan ! Are there more shameless beggars anywhere else? Pathetic.

Some Mullahs Have Decided To Fish In Murky Waters !

Fatwa allows transgender marriage

LAHORE: At least 50 clerics affiliated with a little known Tanzeem Ittehad-i-Ummat have issued a fatwa (religious decree) that marriage with a transgender person is lawful.

So, they will be now classified as "liberal mullahs" - an oxymoron term !
The fatwa, released on Sunday, said a transgender person having “visible signs of being a male” may marry a woman or a transgender with “visible signs of being a female” and vice versa.
WTF are they trying to say here !
It declared that robbing transgender people of their share in inheritance was unlawful and that parents who deprive their transgender sons/daughters of inheritance were “inviting the wrath of God”.
The clerics called upon the government to take action against such parents.

Under Malsi, you are forced to issue a fatwa for what is, in other societies is a decent and moral thing to do !
The fatwa ended with a word on last rites, declaring that all funeral rituals for a transgender person will be the same as for any other Muslim man or woman.
The clerics who issued the fatwa included ....

Now wait for the Halaling list to come out by the radical "greens" - ie another fatwa declaring such clerics UnIslamic and urging the Aam Abduls to do the needful ie make them targets (like Sabri !)

Pakistan's social media is playing a negative role: Ch Nisar.

"No one knows if a RAW agent or a terrorist is spreading rumours to bring down the morale of our forces," said Nisar adding that "negative propaganda" spread through the medium brings down the morale of security forces.

^^^ In talk shows some 'Anal'ysts have mentioned :

USA spent more then $1.5 Trillion in its WOT and gave pakistan only $32 Billion in the last 15 years. It should have given us at least $250 Billion.

China has reserves of more then $3.2 Trillion. Like Saudi Arabia gave us $1.5 Billion as a friendly gesture to shore up our reserves, China should also act as a friend and use its reserves to help us pay off our debt of $70 Billion. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Nawaz Sharif wrote to 17 countries against India's NSG membership: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's intensive diplomatic lobbying, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif personally writing to 17 prime ministers, prevented India from gaining entry into the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), top Pakistani foreign affairs advisor Sartaj Aziz said on Monday.

"Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif personally wrote letters to 17 prime ministers of different countries on the matter, which is on record," Aziz told media at the ministry of foreign affairs in Islamabad.

The NSG last week failed to reach consensus on India's membership application after several members, led by China, of the international nuclear trade cartel insisted on adhering to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) condition for admission.

The statement came days after foreign office spokesperson Nafees Zakriya, during his weekly briefing, said that Pakistan was seeking backing from other countries and refuted claims that it was lobbying against India.

India and Pakistan are the two non-NPT states aspiring for membership of the 48-member international nuclear trade cartel.

From Corn Flakes To Transportation And Now Film Production -Pakistan Army Diversifies!

Lights, camera, action men Pakistan’s army gets into the film business

SOMETIMES the old army dictum “Don’t volunteer for anything” must be broken. As when, for instance, a soldier in Pakistan’s army is given the choice between fighting rebels in the badlands of Waziristan, or volunteering to appear in a film in which he portrays a soldier fighting the same rebels. Whatever thespians may say about the sweat, tears and pain that go into acting, compared with actually fighting in north-western Pakistan, it is at least safer.

After retirement, Paki Faujis can apply for acting jobs in Paki film industry !
Pakistan’s film industry lacks the size and razzmatazz of Bollywood. This year Pakistan looks likely to screen 48 local films. That is a record, but between April 2014 and March 2015, India released more than 38 times as many. The army, envious of its great rival’s soft power, is trying to rectify that imbalance. Hassan Waqas Rana, a prominent Pakistani director, says that the army “looks at the script, and if they think it is good enough (from propangandu point of view  ) they give you whatever you need.
The army does not finance films. Instead it makes low-budget productions look like higher-budget ones, mainly by offering logistical help and access to military land and hardware: guns, explosives, helicopters and the occasional company of soldiers to appear in the background for extra authenticity. “When we were done shooting a battle sequence,” says Mr Rana, “our extras went straight back to an operation.”
The Paki army, desperately short of funds is bent on "improving its image" and wants to do an = = in the film industry !
Some credit the army with helping to revive an industry nearly killed off by decades of high taxes. But liberal critics charge it with promoting crude jingoism. Unsurprisingly, the army likes scripts that portray it in a good light. Army-backed films also tend to reflect the institution’s dim views of India and of politicians, whom the generals regard as irredeemably corrupt. Mr Rana’s first film featured a sultry female Indian spy who cooks up terrorist attacks with the Pakistani Taliban—a favourite lunatic trope of Pakistan’s security establishment, which loves to blame India for fomenting jihadism in Pakistan.
There are no buyers for this crap anymore, even the Pakis admit that !
Nadeem Mandviwalla, a cinema-chain owner and film financier, says that Pakistani audiences “won’t accept” relentless India-bashing. Despite official bans, Bollywood films are popular: the government turns a blind eye to distributors who buy the films through third countries. Mr Rana agrees. He resisted calls last year to make a film retaliating against “Phantom”, a Bollywood drama about Indian spies thwarting Pakistani terrorists. “Pakistan needs to get out of this whole anti-Indian thing,” he says.

Bruised yes, broken — no
The resurgence of terrorism in Karachi in the first six months of this year — there have been 160 terrorism-related incidents between January 1 and June 5 with 138 dead — spurred the visit of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif to the city on June 26. In his statement at the close of his visit, he said that terrorists were “badly bruised and isolated” and inclined towards softer targets as a result of the action taken against them. He also told security officials to hunt down the terrorists and to “pre-empt their moves and frustrate their designs”. With the recent uptick in terrorism and several high-profile killings and kidnappings, questions have been raised as to the effectiveness of the ongoing Karachi operation.
Main target is MQM; everything wrong in Karachi is blamed on Altaf Bhai's party !
Questions have also been raised about the alleged heavy-handedness of law-enforcement agencies as well as a perceived lack of impartiality(target MQM !) when it comes to targeting political party members allegedly involved in acts of terror or criminality.
The Deep State recently engineered a "rival" MQM, apparently with little success!
War is never clean. It is a dirty messy business for all concerned. And as yet it is not won in Karachi, and when the army chief talks of terrorists being bruised and isolated, he is correct — they are wounded but the damage is not mortal. It needs to be.
