Pakistan train crash: Deaths and injuries reported
Collision kills at least six people and injures more than 150, highlighting problems plaguing country's railway network.
A Karachi-bound express train has collided with a stationary freight train in Pakistan's central Punjab region, killing at least six people and injuring more than 150, according to Geo TV.
The accident occurred about 25km from the city of Multan at about 2:30am local time on Thursday when the Awam Express passenger train crashed into a goods train which had stopped after running over a man crossing the railway track.
TV footage showed rescue officials working around crumpled and overturned carriages in the darkness.
"At least four people have been killed and scores others wounded," said Nadir Chattha, local district administration official.
He said several trapped passengers had to be pulled from the wreckage.
A three-day public holiday for the festival of Eid al-Adha ended on Wednesday, with many returning from their family homes to the cities where they work.
Delayed response
There was a delay in the emergency response to the accident due to Eid holidays in the mainly Muslim nation of 190 million people, officials said.
Saima Bashir, a railway official, blamed the accident on the passenger train driver, saying he failed to heed a red signal that went up after the goods train had stopped.....

What will happen now hain ji?
Their train has had an accident, so no more passenger train?
They just have a couple of dozen passenger trains running, mostly very erratically.

I wonder how ordinary Pakistanis travel between Karachi & Pakjab for instance? Their roads are even more worse! Can't imagine there is any reasonable interconnectivity between people of different states...

The accident disproves an otherwise knowledgable BRFite's claim that there is only one train operational in Pakistan.

But then the other train was stationary and it's not mentioned for how long. So BRF may still be right

But after this accident, none is left operational.

So BRF is again proven wrong :rotfl: :rotfl: :((

I am more worried about the loss of one operative engine - How much loan was pending on that one? Will insurance pay up or are they already bankrupt. I suspect a RAA agint was the driver here. Completely wrecked the Paki economy. A whole 23.71 Billion USD loss from the fight against rail accidents.

Pakistan is the biggest victim of rail accidents. The world must compensate Pakistan for its losses in the fight against Rail accidents.

they have - now bankrupted - beejeeness express between lahore and krachi. They also run a bus service where you can push the bus non stop all the way to lahore. For a faster commute you can run below a flight between the two cities. But for rich pakis there is always an option to take a loan and buy a second had cycle to commute.

Rumour is for common man some paki scientists have invented a bullet train where couple of dozen pakis sit in the back of a train and shoot bullets in the opposite direction. By the third law of motion the train will move forward. The train is under trial and will be operational before evil indian talgo trains.

World’s deadliest insect found in Pakistani rice

A rice consignment from Pakistan has been found infested with Khapra Beetle, world’s deadliest insect, at Virginia port in US.According to custom officials at Virginia port, US Customs and Border Agriculture Specialists intercepted four Khapra Beetle larva cast skins in the shipment of Pakistani rice consignment. The ship was later sent back to Pakistan .The skins were found inside a sea container shipment under a plastic liner between the rice and the container floor, the US Customs and Border Protection said in a statement.Specimens were submitted to the US Department of Agriculture for testing and Norfolk Customs officials received confirmation that the specimens were Khapra Beetles. This is the second Khapra Beetle detection this year. There were three Khapra Beetle interceptions last year.Insect pests, said to be less than one per cent of all species, are such insects that feed on, compete for food with, or transmit diseases to humans and livestock. The Khapra Beetle is labelled a dirty feeder because it damages more grain than it consumes, and because it contaminates grain with body parts and hairs.

22 parliamentarians walk into a bar…(Haram Alert)

The writing on the wall after the July 8 killing of 22-year-old popular militant leader Burhan Wani had become obvious for all the stakeholders of Indian-Administered Kashmir. As angry Kashmiris poured out in to the streets for their right to self-determination, the Indian government reacted—killing scores of them and blinding hundreds with pellet guns.

As soon as the protests engulfed the entire region, Pakistan too was faced with a riddle: How should it deal with a rival that is bigger in size, richer in wealth and oceans ahead in influence over the international community?

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif knew it would be an uphill task to persuade the international community to dissuade India from continuing atrocities against Kashmiris and agreeing on a resolution. “Pakistan’s weight is far less than it should be in the international domain as compared to India’s,” explains former ambassador Sarwar Naqvi. The international community is conscious about taking up the Kashmir issue but they do not wish to take a clear stand on India. “I don’t think our diplomatic sense could make a difference on Kashmir but the latest situation in Kashmir has provided us an opportunity. Pakistan can bank on the indigenous Kashmir freedom movement by telling the world about it.”

The prime minister knows that years of diplomacy have not borne fruit and that the international community has turned a blind eye to several pleas to find a solution. This realisation pushed him to convene a diplomats’ conference in Islamabad(When and who the hell attended?) and write a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. In response, the UN secretary-general said the atrocities in India should stop and India and Pakistan should talk. He did not, however, mention the Kashmiri right to self-determination even though the UN passed a resolution on it decades ago. “Kofi Annan, as secretary-general of the UN, had stated some eight years back when he visited Pakistan that the resolutions on Kashmir had become obsolete,” says Shahid Amin, a senior former diplomat. He feels India is not going to change its stance on Kashmir but Pakistan should not waver, and highlight the atrocities in the world to compel it to pressure India.

The latest in the series of “out-of-the-box” attempts to highlight the Kashmir cause was the premier’s decision to send 22 parliamentarians as envoys to the most important world capitals. The 22 parliamentarians include Ijazul Haq(Zia's Son) and Malik Uzair for Belgium, Khusro Bakhtiar and Alamdad Laleka for China, Raza Hayat Hiraj, Junair Anwar Chaudhry and Nawaz Ali Wassan for Russia. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maj. (Retd) Tahir Iqbal and Muhammad Afzal Khokhar will visit Saudi Arabia. Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha and Malik Pervaiz will go to Turkey. Lt Gen. (retd) Abdul Qayyum(Whiskey Jernail) and Qaiser Sheikh will go to Britain. Mushahid Hussain Syed and Shazra Mansab Ali Khan would highlight the Kashmir cause in the US and the UN in New York, Ayesha Raza Farooq and Rana Muhammad Afzal in France, Awais Leghari and at the United Nations (Geneva) and Abdul Rehman Kanju(Cannot handle South Punjab) in South Africa. (Most of these MPs were with Mushy)

India has reacted sharply to this decision and warned Pakistan against what it called interference in its affairs. “Pakistan should not internationalise this [Kashmir] because it is a bilateral issue,” Indian Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar told the media. “It is Pakistan’s individual right if it wants its MPs to go for free tourism.

Nawaz Sharif’s decision did not go down well at home either, with the opposition or with independent observers. Pakistan Peoples Party’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tweeted: “Our PM’s solution to Kashmir. Send cronies and allies on state-sponsored holidays.” Journalist Zahid Hussain calls it a joke. “Pakistan has never faced such great diplomatic challenges before. The first thing to do is appoint a foreign minister to effectively highlight the atrocities in Kashmir.”

Diplomats say this is not the first time that Pakistan has tried to shoehorn a politician into a diplomat’s position. Asking not to be identified a diplomat said that when this happens all they can do is “receive them, brief them and even schedule their meeting with important officials.” Indeed, PML-N MNA Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, headed to the UK, said: “So far the government has not told us anything about the schedule of our visit.” When asked if he knew who he would meet and the parameters of his interaction, he said: “I could not say anything unless the foreign office briefs me on the subject.” He said Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz would be doing that.(meeting Altaf Bhai and eat Hallem)

Several experts believe that successive governments in Pakistan have damaged the Kashmir cause by abandoning the principled stance that hinges on the UN resolution on the right to self-determination for Kashmiris. They feel India has not only contributed to but benefitted from these deviations on policy.

Take for instance the that that on numerous occasions Indian-Administered Kashmir was cast aside from the list of issues needing talks between India and Pakistan. The exclusion of the word Kashmir from the joint statement issued after talks between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Russian city of Ufa on July 10, 2015, is a glaring example. On several occasions, Pakistani diplomats have agreed to skip talks on “occupied Kashmir” when their Indian counterparts first sought developments on the status of what we call “Azad Jammu and Kashmir”.

India’s push to talk on terrorism alone—which resulted in talks between the national security advisers in New Delhi sans Kashmir—signals a sophisticated maneuver to keep Pakistan from talking on Kashmir. Modi’s government has led from the front in diminishing Pakistan’s say as is evident from the suspension of talks in the wake of Pakistan’s High Commissioner Dr Abdul Basit invitation to Kashmiri leaders. Modi has built the foundation of this policy on the premise that Pakistan allows its soil to perpetuate terror not only in India but Afghanistan too. These wily Indian moves bring into sharp focus not only Pakistan’s poor Kashmir policy but its fractured ties with immediate neighbours.

“Unfortunately, Pakistan’s foreign policy is not being made where it should be,” says Pakistan’s former High Commissioner to India Ashraf Jehangir Qazi. He believes Pakistan’s Kashmir policy has always been hostage to short-term plans which have been incompatible with the growing geo-strategic and economic importance of India. “What Pakistan needs to do is to formulate a long-term policy on Kashmir that includes mending ties with neighbours, improving law and order, ending human rights abuses—especially in Balochistan—and above all strengthening its feeble economy,” Qazi explains.

The need for an effective policy is not an insignificant subject for the Kashmiris who look to Pakistan for moral, political and ethical support. Hurriyat Conference Chairman Miwaiz Umer Farooq says Kashmiri hearts and minds are with Pakistan and they want Pakistan to internationalise the issue. Talking about Modi’s statement on Balochistan, Mirwaiz said: “India wants to give the impression to its people that the way Pakistan talks about Kashmir they (India) too would point out excesses in Pakistan.”

The quagmire of national politics (Panama Leaks, Altaf Hussain) has kept Pakistan from forming a unified response to India let alone a concrete policy. This is exacerbated by a lack of consultative process among former diplomats and policy-makers on Kashmir.

US asks Pakistan not to tolerate externally-focused terror groups
WASHINGTON: The US today warned that Pakistan's fight against terrorism would not succeed until it makes a "decisive shift" in its policy of tolerance towards externally-focused groups and targets all militant groups without discrimination.
"While the progress Pakistan has made through its recent operations is laudable, its struggle with terrorism will not come to an end until it makes a decisive shift in its policy of tolerance towards externally-focused groups," Richard Olson, Special US Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, told member of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee during a Congressional hearing on Afghanistan.
.......
"Pakistan continues to be tremendously duplicitous partner in this. They are working against our interest there (in Afghanistan). They are supporting the Haqqani network," Senator Bob Corker, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations said. In his testimony, Olson said the US continues to support the India-Afghanistan relationship, including through the revival of a US-India-Afghanistan trilateral, which will take place next week on the margins of the UN General Assembly.

Snake meat, new favorite haram meat in Pakistan

Mashallah!

Game-Changer CPEC has already started bringing employment and economic boom to Pakistan! Employment for RAA ajint joggis, TV crew, Krachi Bolis, Maulana chacha who doubles up as wild life specialist, snake oil and snake hide sales men. Hides will be sent via CPEC to Chini factories making genuine snake hide fake designer purses and belts.

Chini iron blothers love to eat snake meat and other exotic animal meat. So far, they were taking care of the dietary needs of the Arab 4 fathers with the Bustard. Now it is time to take care of the dietary needs of their new masters and 4 fathers, higher than the Himalayas, deeper than the oceans, sweeter than honey, dearer than sight, iron brothers. Pretty soon they will be selling haral pork!

There is ofcourse PIA (unless going to Peshawar, in which case you might land as a body bag). But I believe sooner or later a PIA captain will announce "Leddeeeis, and 72 seekers, we are now cruising at 32000 feet, but we are facing some technical snag, can some of you please get down and push the plane to its destination?"

Exiled Baloch leader Brahumdagh Bugti to get Indian citizenship, Pak media reports
In a move that will no doubt annoy Pakistan, Geo News reported late yesterday that Baloch leader Brahumdagh Bugti+ , currently in exile in Switzerland, is set to get Indian citizenship after long negotiations with Indian authorities. India will also give citizenship to Brahumdagh's key lieutenants in Switzerland, including his trusted aides, Sher Muhammad Bugti and Azizullah Bugti,

"India has facilitated Dalai Lama against the pressure from a powerful country like China. It helped Sheikh Mujeeb-ur-Rehman as well. It will help Brahumdagh and his colleagues as well. Brahumdagh has asked for Indian citizenship for himself and all his colleagues. There are 15,000 Bugtis stuck in Afghanistan.

But then the other train was stationary and it's not mentioned for how long. So BRF may still be right
But after this accident, none is left operational.
So BRF is again proven wrong :rotfl: :rotfl: :((

Passenger train was on a soosai mission, what with all those purer than purest in there.
This was to be expected if you drive a passenger train via muridke, bahawalpur and multan headed towards karachi. Train also gets influenced by its environment you see

Incorrect! actually the Cheeni engine became vehemently patriotic when it saw the red signal

X Posted from the “26/11/2008: Never Forget. Never Forgive.” thread.

MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup on the Mohammadden Terrorist fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s foot dragging regards prosecuting perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai Terrorist Attack, the latest being dropping of charges against LeT operative Zafar Sufiyan and announcing India had sent the Islamic Republic suggestions on how to expedite the case:

Transcript of Weekly Media Briefing by Official Spokesperson (September 15, 2016)
September 16, 2016 ………………………

Question: Sir, Pakistan has dropped charges against Lashkar-e-Taiba Zafar Sufiyan in Mumbai attack case. Is Pakistan is not serious in this case?

Official Spokesperson, Shri Vikas Swarup: Well, as you know that the Mumbai terror attack trial in Pakistan has not progressed expeditiously although it would soon be eight years since that dastardly attack.

In order to bring the guilty to book our Foreign Secretary has recently written to his counterpart in Pakistan suggesting ways in which the trial could be expedited through cooperation through the legal channel.

He wrote this letter on the 6th of September, it was delivered by our High Commissioner in Islamabad on the 9th of September. So that is where we are.

Question: Sir, you have mentioned that FS has written the letter on September 6. What prompted this and what are the suggestions that have been made?

Official Spokesperson, Shri Vikas Swarup: What prompted this letter is the total delay that has been happening in bringing to book the persons responsible for the Mumbai Terror Attack. As you know the entire attack was planned from Pakistan, was perpetrated by Pakistani nationals, all the evidence is in Pakistan, yet we find that eight years have passed and still the trial is progressing at a snail’s pace. So FS has written a letter in order to, first of all it shows that our continuing focus is on terrorism, and we want to bring the Mumbai case trial to an expeditious conclusion and we are prepared to offer suggestions on how this can be done through the proper legal channel.

Question: Sir, the letter had been written ten days ago, has there been a reply?

Official Spokesperson, Shri Vikas Swarup: Not yet.

Pakistan may be building new nuclear site: Analysts - AFP
Pakistan, estimated to have the world's fastest-growing nuclear stockpile, could be building a new uranium enrichment complex according to commercial satellite imagery analysed by Western defence experts.

The construction of a new site, based in the town of Kahuta some thirty kilometres east of Islamabad, provides fresh evidence of how Pakistan is seeking to boost its atomic arsenal — a goal which is inconsistent with the principles of the Nuclear Suppliers Group the country is seeking to join, said the analysis.

The analysis was conducted by IHS Jane's Intelligence review using satellite images taken by Airbus Defence and Space on September 28, 2015 and then again on April 18, 2016.

Pakistan, which conducted its first nuclear tests in 1998 is believed to have around 120 nuclear weapons, more than India, Israel and North Korea.

A 2015 report written by scholars at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Stimson Center said Pakistan could increase its stockpile by 20 warheads a year and have the world's third largest in a decade.

"The area of interest is approximately 1.2 hectares and is located within the secure area of the Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), in the southwestern part of the complex," said the statement.

Karl Dewey, a proliferation analyst at IHS Jane's added: "It is sited within an established centrifuge facility, has strong security and shows some of the structural features of a possible new uranium enrichment facility. This makes it a strong candidate for a new centrifuge facility."

The structure of the site also bears strong resemblance to facilities built by nuclear fuel company URENCO which also operates several nuclear plants in Europe, it said.

"This may be more than coincidence as A Q Khan, considered by many to be the founder of Pakistan's nuclear programme, worked at URENCO before stealing centrifuge designs and returning to Pakistan," said Charlie Cartwright, an imagery analyst for IHS Jane's.

Pakistan is currently seeking to join the 48-member Nuclear Suppliers Group that seeks to prevent nuclear proliferation by controlling the export of materials, equipment and technology that can be used to manufacture atomic weapons.

"It is difficult to see how these actions are consistent with the principles of the Nuclear Suppliers Group, a group of responsible nuclear exporters which Pakistan is seeking to join," said Ian Stewart, head of research group Project Alpha at King's College London.

Pakistani physicist A H Nayyar told AFP if the site was indeed a centrifuge, "then primarily because they are being built inside KRL I would conclude they are being for weapons," adding that the country's nuclear power plants were supplied by imported uranium from China.

He however cautioned it was not possible to be definitive about the site's purpose based on imagery alone.

What one wants to know is these terror strikes in Peshawar, are these anti Pakjabi, anti sunni?
Are some of them retaliatory strikes to respond to some other strike from the opposite party in the past?

One needs to go beyond keeping score on the 4s and the 6s.
Surely there is a method to this madness?

Sometime in the early part of 2016, Field Marshal RAAAAw heel Sharif vowed to free Bakistan of terror by the end of 2016.

One can speculate wonlee that the other side is doing a planned regular demo of it potency to show up the Field Marshal.

Kahuta
The new development is marked New Centrifuge Facility.
The area on the right marked Missile Manufacture, also manufactures components of several different kinds of weapons
Once you zoom out of this image, one can see the various SAM and Radar sites that the Pakistanis have set up to try and protect this area. They have several Crotale SAM units deployed east of this facility to try and take out any aerial strike
