This Delhi police claim may be an overkill. Paki diplomats know and exercise their rights to the hilt. I doubt if this ISI case officer with diplomatic immunity would confess to spying on camera. Unless the police gave him the third degree...is that why ambassador bulls*it claimed that one of his diplomats was manhandled?

2. Both Armies want to have the upper hand at the border and maintain izzat. Given that Bakis recently suffered a surgery they are more eager for a payback.

Thanks Pankajs. Good point re Izzat - that would clearly be a motivating factor for sure - Fauj needs to keep troop and citizenry morale up, post-op. I was just puzzling at why they would be so feisty post-surgery. i.e. Would they not be more subdued, fearing unpredictable consequences for turning the heat up so much more than what appears normal along the LOC and Border. At least latest news shows that our troops seem to be responding with the usual 10 bullets for every 1 sent our way. Infil support makes a lot of sense too.

Over the last few days, news articles from Pak about Indian shells killing many hapless civilians and cries for intervention from UNMOGIP, UK, US etc made it seem to me that Indian Govt and Army decided to pound the hell out of the Paks like what happened in 2014. I had figured it was a continuation of very tough stance post-Uri. Now I'm seeing reports that make it sound like Pak has opened up everywhere with heavy weaponry. ToI reporting that the level of Pak shelling in Rajouri is unprecendented according to locals. Thoughts?

No idea, but I guess our boys are giving back in spades  From paki pasand NDTV no less :P BSF estimates 15 Pakis killed
Jammu: 15 Pakistani soldiers have been killed as Indian troops retaliated to incessant firing by Pakistan along the border in Jammu and Kashmir in the past week, the Border Security Force (BSF) said on Friday.

Two Pakistani Frontier Force soldiers and 13 Rangers were killed, suggested an initial assessment by the BSF.

Yeah looks like we've swung retaliation into high gear. Will be interesting to see when Pak decides to hoist the white flag. I was quite puzzled by why Pak would want to escalate via significantly higher (and geographically wider) shelling, given that we had just administered a very harsh slap. Pankajs' possible causes make a lot of sense - Izzat and one last push I guess before the snow starts.

Truth is the first casualty in any war. I believe the BSF has more credibility than the Poaks who didnt even pick up their soldiers and officers bodies in Kargil.

Falijee wrote:Punjab Police Take Pre- Emptive Action Against Immy And His PTI Supporters By Confiscating Export Containers !

Containers impounded in Punjab ahead of PTI ‘lockdown’

LAHORE: The Punjab police have begun impounding hundreds of containers, most of which were carrying exports goods headed to Karachi port, in different parts of the province apparently to stop activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led opposition parties from enforcing the lockdown of Islamabad on November 2.
“Hundreds of containers have been impounded by policemen since Wednesday night at the cost of exporters and transports’ businesses,” said All Pakistan Transport Owners Federation Secretary General Malik Wasim Khokhar.
The Kaaptaan must be stopped by hook or by crook !
A source in the Punjab police told Dawn that the decision to impound containers to block the caravans of the PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) was taken a couple of days ago in the cabinet committee meeting presided over by the Punjab chief minister.
The source said the Punjab police required at least 400 containers for the purpose.
A Punjab police officer associated with the development, while speaking to Dawn on condition of anonymity, claimed that impounding containers was done to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident of terrorism during the Islamabad lockdown. He, however, said the Punjab police authorities had no specific policy guidelines from the Punjab government to block activists of the PTI and its allied parties by using containers. The source said district police formations would act under the law and order guidelines to maintain peace on roads and cities.

Other press reports have suggested that Ganja Sharif has designated his "clever brother" to make sure that Immy's plan for disruption is nipped in the bud !

So what about import containers?

Here's the latest from the nuthouse called al bakistan. Super ch. Sheikh "chilllllli" Rasheed rode a motor bike (as a passenger riding straddle, or as pakjabis call it pi'senger) through the narrow lanes of 'pindi to Immy the Dimmy's PeeTaI rally and a has-been singer called Salman "junooni" Ahmad escaped from 'slummabad police detention to do the same. As the junooni claimed later "The police didn't close the [police car] door properly, and I escaped". 8)

In the 2.5 minute ride, I noticed three lasses and six asses.

Cricket, anyone?

I am afraid, in the IAs dictionary, appropriate response == proportional response. This proportional response nonsense is like two guys slapping each others wives because they are mad at each other. Unless the IA reaches out and touches the lives of PA Colonels, Brigadiers etc. to me, this is just business as usual.

What indeed is an appropriate response? Its is one that will make the other guy stop slapping my loved ones. If a growl is needed to stop him, a growl. If a slap is needed to stop him, then a slap. If we need to break his hand to make it stop, then breaking his hand.

In fact killing even a hundred foot soldiers is so much the better for the gernails as it makes they can puff up and prance around saying we 'resisted the Indians' and therefore it was a great victory. What is needed is a humiliation that will make them lose face, that will demonstrably show to their public that their faujis are eunuchs.

Blow up some battalion or brigade hq with a precision strike. Sink some of their submarines.. Take over parts of PoK so the border is 'rationalized' in our favor.. Treat their elite as scum. Anal cavity searchs required for entry. :-P Apply sanctions.. That is my list. Some of it is happening, but not enough. Hope this time, Northern Command does an actual appropriate response, not proportional.

Bombastic "Kamandu " Again Speaks From His "Musharaf"!

JeM chief Masood Azhar is a 'terrorist', says ex-Pak Prez Musharraf

Former Pakistan President Gen Pervez Musharraf has described Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar as a "terrorist", saying he has been involved in bomb blasts even in his country. He, however, did not give a clear reply as to why Pakistan has not been asking China to get Azhar declared an international terrorist by the United Nations."Why should China be involved when it has nothing to do with him (Azhar)," Musharraf told News Nation, according to a release issued by the TV channel.A proposal is pending before the UN Security Council for declaring Azhar as an international terrorist but China has been blocking it, claiming that there is not enough evidence to prove that he is a terrorist.
When asked about the espionage case busted on Thursday in Delhi involving an employee of the Pakistan High Commission, the former Pakistan Army Chief initially parried the issue saying, "I am not aware of it". But then he added that "if at all it has happened, (it) shouldn't be encouraged", the release said.It also quoted Musharraf as saying that the Nawaz Sharif government lacks aggression. The channel said Musharraf accepted Pakistan government's diplomatic failure on international front. He, however, said it does not mean that Pakistan should be taken for granted. To a question on whether a political leadership or army is better suited for Pakistan's development, Musharraf said the country had witnessed growth when Army was in power. When asked about terror camps in PoK, he feigned ignorance saying "I don't know". However, with a smile, he said, "I will let you know only once I get the count of these camps which you are talking about".
On Pakistan's diminishing relations with United States, he said there are certain contentious issues which are being addressed by Pakistan Army.
( It seems that he is still in the loop or wants to be give a perception that he still has his "sources" in the Paki Fauj )
When referred to the 'surgical strike' and military might of India, he said, Pakistan is a nuclear power with a strong army which can't be bullied. :((
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's sudden visit to Pakistan and his meeting with Sharif, he said shaking hands is just an artificial move, but for a formal solution, something concrete needs to be done. (like fulfilling your promise to bring the wanted terrorists to justice !)

Masood Azhar is a "terrorist" only when his group attacks paki assets. Otherwise he is a "freedom fighter", free to collect charity to finance terror in India.

This brings out clearly two issues to the fore.

One, the dilemma of the terrorist state of Pakistan and the other, the duplicity of China.

JeM *is* a creation of Musharraf. It was his ISI Chief Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Ahmed (who also supervised 9/11) who created this tanzeem. JeM conducted its first operation, a suicide attack on the Badami Bagh cantonment, on April 19, 2000. The ISI & JeM (along with LeT) conducted the Parliament attack in 2001. Everything was going smoothly until the January 12, 2002 speech of Gen. Musharraf. That upset JeM so much that it turned against its benefactor leading to savage attacks on Musharraf which he escaped because of luck and American technology. No wonder Musharraf calls Masood Azhar as a terrorist. The dilemma is that even then, all that Musharraf could do was to put Masood Azhar just under 'house arrest'. He did not want to eliminate him, which he could easily have done, or even prosecute him. In c. 2008, after Musharraf was eased out of Presidency, Masood Azhar resurfaced in full regalia & glory.

When the ex-President and Army Chief of Pakistan himself is saying that Masood Azhar is a terrorist, China is adamant that there is not 'enough evidence'. The irony is that it voted to put JeM as an organization under UNSC 1267 list, but is determined not to put the Chief of a UNSC-declared terrorist organization under the same list!

Pakistan trade body warns it may suspend trade with India

Pakistan trade body warns it may suspend trade with India

Oct 28, 2016 |

Pak had no compulsions of any sort to continue business and trade relations with India under the current hostile conditions, FPCCI said.

Islamabad: A leading Pakistani trade body on Friday warned it may suspend trade with India, citing the "current hostile conditions".

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) president Abdul Rauf Alam said there was no compulsion to continue trade ties with India, the Dawn reported.

"Pakistan had no compulsions of any sort to continue business and trade relations with India under the current hostile conditions," the newspaper quoted him as saying.

He further said that the entire Pakistani business community was united to take any decision, and given the tense situation in the region, it was not possible to continue trade relations with India.

He pointed out the role of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and said that it left them with no choice but to promote trade relations with ECO (Economic Cooperation Organisation) and D-8 (Developing-8) countries.

It is the first time that a major Pakistani business body issued a statement about snapping trade links with India due to border tensions.

Already the cultural and political ties have suffered due to acrimony following the death of a Kashmiri militant leader as well as the Uri terror attack.

If the tanzeems like JeM can turn against their benefactor (Mushy), it is possible that JeM will act against the Kafir CPEC iron blothers masters in the future. Then the Chinese will do an XI th hour rush to declare Masood Azhar a tellolist.

‘Dhaka attack rifles made in Bengal by Munger gunsmiths trained by Pakistani experts' - Saibal Gupta, ToI

What the heck!
Assault rifles used in the Gulshan cafe attack in Dhaka on July 1 were made in Bengal with the help of Pakistani experts, one of the six terrorists arrested by Kolkata STF in September in connection with the Khagragarh blast has told NIA sleuths.

According to the arrested terrorist, Pakistani tribal gunsmiths clandestinely visited Malda to train gunsmiths from Munger, who set up base in the border district to make AK-22 assault rifles. These weapons were then smuggled into Bangladesh via Chapainawabgunj. The NIA investigators suspect the Pakistanis who conducted the training were from the Darra Adam Khel community that resides in a village located between Peshawar and Kohat. The community is believed to regularly help the Taliban in duplicating modern weapons.

"We aren't sure yet but the language they mentioned is spoken in and around the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan where the village is located," a senior NIA officer said. Bangladesh has already alleged that the weapons used in the Holey Artisan bakery attack were sourced from across the border. The country's counterterrorism and trans-national crime chief, Monirul Islam, had categorically mentioned Munger in this connection. Thereafter, Bihar police had launched an investigation into the matter.

But what has intrigued the NIA officers is the duplication of AK-22 rifles instead of the AK-47, which is more popular among both terrorists and security agencies. A semi-automatic rifle originally manufactured in Romania, AK-22 is uncommon in India, and hence, difficult to duplicate.

"The uncomplicated AK-22 is a low-range weapon, easy to use by even greenhorns and has a short range. It was the perfect weapon for the youngsters who carried out the terror attack in the Dhaka bakery," an NIA officer said.

If expert gunsmiths did come from Darra Adam Khel to train men in Malda, investigation agencies have reasons to worry. For, these Pakistani tribals can copy nearly any weapon, from pen pistols and hand-grenades to automatic rifles and anti-aircraft guns. Darra gunsmiths are said to have the ability to duplicate any new rifle within 10 days.

There is great confusion on who is on whose side. PTI, Qadri, Army, terrorist Sheikh Rashid are on one side. Nawaz is trying to recruit Diffa & the Punjab Police on his side. Mullah Sandwich is again sandwiched between the two, as usual, clearly not enjoying the discomfiture this time.

Theatrics are plenty too, like terrorist Rashid dodging containers on the pillion of a motorbike (a la Mullah Omar who was safely taken similarly out of Afghanistan by the HuJI chief Qari Saifullah Akhtar), climbing the terrace of a TV station, lighting a cigar symbolically in front of a crowd chanting his name (again, a la, Mullah Omar who wore the Prophet’s vest on a chilly Friday evening on the terrace of a Kandahar building in front of a thronging crowd feverishly chanting his name and anointing himself the Caliph!) What Islamic symbolism could a cigar have?

Nawaz's desperation made him send his brother on a peace-mission to Army Chief. Pretty sure that Nawaz would have conceded some more space to the Army. Would it be the management of CPEC in return for saving the government? Or, will it be too big a concession? Time only will tell.

Federal Minister Of Information Sacked For Leaking News Which Paki Fauj Says Was Fabricated
Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed asked to step down amid Dawn story probe
Information Minister Parvaiz Rasheed has resigned from his position as Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage, DawnNews reported Saturday.A statement issued by the Prime Minister's office said: "Evidence available so far pints to a lapse on part of the information minister, who has been directed to step down from the office to enable holding of an independent and detailed inquiry.”

" Echendee" of Pak Army now "restored" ?
The report of the high-profile security meeting has forced the government to initiate an inquiry to identify the person responsible for its leak.Sources also said Rasheed's portfolio was taken away after a preliminary inquiry was launched by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. ( the " go - between" between Raheel and Nawaz !) They added that the premier has ordered a formal inquiry as to whether Rasheed was involved in the leak from the meeting.
he Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said earlier this week that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Ch Nisar and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif called on the army chief to brief him on the progress of the investigation and recommendations related to the story. The meeting was also attended by DG ISI General Rizwan Akhtar.
In an Editor's note, Dawn clarified its position and stated on the record that the story "was verified, cross-checked and fact-checked."Earlier this month, participants of a corps commander meeting expressed serious concern over what they said was "feeding of false and fabricated story of an important security meeting held at PM House and viewed it as breach of national security.
Media reports also stated Saturday that Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has left for Dubai with his family. However, Musadiq Malik said Asif's departure was not connected to the probe into the story.
( Paki society is a "hotbed " of conspiracy theories !)
PTI chief Imran Khan congratulated the nation after Rasheed resigned."Mubarak to nation! One darbari sacked, the other flees & the rest start trembling as they look over their shoulders! NS's darbar disappearing," he tweeted."If they [government officials] are involved in the leak, they should be tried under the Army Act,” said PTI leader Mehmood-ur-Rasheed.
Imran Khan wants to become PM of Pakiland, by hook or by crook !
Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information Moula Bux Chandio urged the government to accept the demands of accountability and four demands of Bilawal Bhutto to avert the crisis."If government accepts demands of the nation and Bilawal Bhutto, the government can get out of the crisis," the PPP leader said"Government by scapegoating the Information Minister has accepted that the democratic government was responsible for the information leak," he added.
Every Aam Abdul wants to "advise " Ganja Sharif on this political crisis

Pak liberals gather in London for conference
LONDON: Several prominent liberal intellectuals, human rights and social media activists, and public figures from Pakistan and the Diaspora are gathering in London for a conference on ‘The Future of Pakistan’ to discuss the liberal and progressive way forward for the South Asian country.
The conference is the first of its kind. It has been organised under the banner of South Asians Against Terrorism and for Human Rights (SAATH) and co-hosted by US-based columnist Dr Mohammad Taqi and former Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, Husain Haqqani, who teaches at an American university now and regularly writes for American papers.Prominent participants of the conference include Haqqani, Awami National Party Senator Afrasiab Khattak, columnist and author Dr Ayesha Siddiqa, ANP’s Bushra Gohar, journalist and activist Rashed Rehman, Marvi Sirmed, Beena Sarwar and many leading journalists.
(Future of Pakiland, being discussed in a" phoren land "! Why was"Mush" not invited - he styles himself as the "godfather" of moderate Islam !)
The organisers lamented that several prominent liberal Pakistanis had been physically eliminated while many others had chosen to keep a low profile because of danger to their lives. “Mainstream political parties have been fighting for their own survival and to prevent replacement of the patronage based democratic political system with direct military intervention,” SAATH argued.
The idea that the future of a nation is being discussed in another country , itself tells a lot ! Dubai and Londonistan are in competition to become the defacto capital of Pakistan !
Dr Taqi told The News: “The Future of Pakistan Conference hopes to address questions such as how Pakistan might reform from inside instead of being pressured further by the rest of the world and even face the threat of being declared a state sponsor of terrorism. We plan to discuss how we might strengthen the pluralist and secular narrative in Pakistan and gain more space for a perspective that has been pushed aside consistently since the Zia era.”

Ok, that's one concession by Nawaz to the Army before November 2. What more have been conceded?

Reform from inside or space for more secularism is all right; but, if they do not address the very fundamental issue that of its obsession with India, the problem can *NEVER* be resolved. Everything else such as identity crisis, primacy to the Army, lack of democracy, religious extremism, terrorism, neglect of human development, sectarianism, weak economy etc. flows from that single obsession. If these 'liberals' do not state that openly and emphatically, this meet is worthless.

The crucial Q is is Nawaz allowed to nominate the army chief of his choice? Not that it will matter much given his record.

http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/personal-assistant-of-sp-s-rajya-sabha-member-held-in-spy-racket-case/story-3Y8KqhcLKIdIL0EiXYqAkM.html

Police detained Mehmood on Wednesday and arrested two Indian citizens at the Delhi zoo when they were meeting to exchange sensitive documents. A third Indian was arrested on Thursday. Mehmood, who was released from custody under diplomatic immunity rules, has been asked to leave the country by Saturday.
Pakistan has denied the charge and accused Indian investigators of manhandling Mehmood. It also expelled an Indian embassy staff in a tit-for-tat move, saying his activities were against diplomatic norms. New Delhi has rejected Pakistan’s accusations.
Mehmood said in his confession that he was in touch with one Farhat, police sources said. It was later found out that Farhat was the personal assistant of SP’s Salim.
Police suspect that Farhat supplied documents on national security to Mehmood in exchange for money. Being the assistant of a Rajya Sabha MP, he had access to a few relevant documents, police sources said.

RajyaSabha needs to take notice of this and expell the member for taking in staff such as this guy.

A crucial 90 mt meeting ws held a raheels house yesterday . Shehbaz, ishaq dar and Chaudhary nisar came to army chiefs house and Rizwan akthat dg Isi was in attendance!!!!!

I'm reminded of musharaff being called home to Nawaz shariffs house and his father abbaji playing host way back in 99!!! Trying to induce a thaw btwn his son and the commando which never worked.

As they stand today, Nawaz can be booked for breach of national security (case by army), panama paper ( case by khan) and false disclosure of assets before election commission ( case by Ahmed rasheed) .

True to paki-style jamhooriyat traditions, the "elected" leaders must go the military to make peace. If the mountain won't come to Muhammad then Muhammad must go to the mountain.

Imran's demo is supported by the PRC and Paki military, who seem to be propping him up to be the next PM.Another coup is on the anvil as Nawaz is trying to drive a wedge between the generals and the real "Sheriff" of Pak the current incumbent due to retire shortly. A coup now supported by "fast bowler"and cricket cheat who is trying to oust Nawz by a no-ball,with some help from the Umpire, would be welcomed by the hoi polloi,as smearing Nawaz with turd courtesy the Panama Papers, would go down well with the masses.

Pakistan opposition leader Imran Khan says that he is under virtual house arrest!
Pakistani opposition leader Imran Khan accused the government of placing him under virtual housearrest in Islamabad on Friday as his supporters in nearby Rawalpindi fought running battles with the police.
A PTI source told Reuters the party's rally planned for Saturday in Islamabad was also likely to be called off.
The ruling party has dismissed Khan's shutdown plan as a desperate move by a politician whose popularity is waning ahead of the next general election, likely to be held in May 2018.
Under the present circumstances, at the most, Immy can only "rouse" the Aam Abduls; won't be able to do anything else, unless the Paki Fauj, wants him on the "throne" ; cannot happen, because of the Kerry - Lugar proviso ; soft coup has already happened ; hard coup is impossible !
