Pakistan court bars opposition from holding street rally

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani court has barred the opposition party of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan from holding planned anti-government street rallies in Islamabad.

Lawyer Saddique Awan says the court on Monday ordered that authorities ensure the rally is held only within the limits of a city park.

Khan's attorney Babar Awan says he will appeal. The party has called for a massive street demonstration for Wednesday, threatening to lock down the capital in a bid to force Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign.

Sharif has been under pressure after his family members were named as holders of offshore bank accounts in leaked financial documents from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca.

Since the weekend, police have detained hundreds of Khan's party activists and clashed with his supporters attempting to get into Islamabad.

Amnesty terms Section 144 a draconian law, calls for release of all PTI workernns
Amnesty International on Monday urged Pakistan government to immediately release hundreds of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf's (PTI) activists and asked that people be allowed to exercise their right to peaceful assembly. The human rights watchdog also declared the crackdown as violation of right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly."There is no justification for this repressive crackdown. Pakistan’s constitution guarantees people the rights to freedom of assembly, expression and movement," said Director Amnesty International South Asia Champa Patel in a statement released on Monday.

Paki H&D is taking a "hit" these days - having to deal with Indian and Yindoos representing Massaland, Commonwealth or one or other international organizatons ( Indian soft power at work!); better results will occur if Immy's ex , Jemima Khan ( who is the mother of his two sons ) who still has a soft corner for him , makes some noise on his behalf in the British media and / or Govt , where she and her family have a lot of influence ! :D

The comparison between Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) and the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) nicely illustrates the different developmental trajectories that India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan are taking. A nitpick though which shows that BSP has moved even more ahead of PSM.

The BSP’s capacity is being enhanced to 7 MTPA from the present 3.93 MTPA:

Bhilai steel plant Rs 17,000 crore expansion delayed by 15 months

Falijee, I have always said that Indians are befooled by the hospitality they receive individually in Pakistan. But, collectively, Pakistanis are together in the destruction of India.

That being said, I was not surprised by the reaction of the Sialkotis. After all, It was Mrs. Gandhi who bisected Pakistan and held 93000 soldiers of the pride of Pakistan, its Army, as PoWs. Why should they feel sorry for what happened?

http://www.dailyo.in/politics/taliban-a ... 13754.html
( Eid Coming for Paki Bakra )

A recent conference on regional security issues in the western Afghanistan town of Herat was catalysed by an angry exchange between US political-military analyst on South Asia Christine Fair and retired Brigadier Saad Mohammed from Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, on the nature of the Pakistan army, which Fair variously characterised as being a “hyena” and “a vulture feeding on a carcass".Admittedly, too, that makes her a huge favourite of the Indian establishment - she says things publicly several people in the government wish they had the courage to.But what happened next, in Herat, was not about India or Pakistan or the current tension between the two.The scrappy exchange between Fair and ISI Brigadier (retd) Saad Mohammed - “your country is a vulture and a hyena, not mine!” - was followed by enthusiastic clapping by several Afghans in the audience that was as much stunning as it was illuminating.“A mentality for peace and stability never existed in Pakistan and the country is trying to use terrorism and the Taliban to colonise Afghanistan,” announced former Afghan foreign minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta and AISS director.
The Taliban has taken the northern city of Kunduz for the second time in the past year, LashkarGah in southern Helmand could fall to the group any day, while the provincial capital of Tarinkot in south-west Uruzgan seems ready to capitulate.A mentality for peace never existed in Pakistan and the country is trying to use terrorism and the Taliban to colonise Afghanistan, says former Afghan foreign minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta.
But several conversations with Afghans in Kabul and Herat, in plush drawing rooms and crowded bazaars, reveal an anti-Pakistan narrative that is far more unsettlingly similar today than it has ever been before.
Afghans say Pakistan has prevented the implementation of the 2011 Afghanistan-Pakistan Trade and Transit Agreement (APTTA), which allows trucks carrying Afghan goods to come up to the Wagah border; in effect, Afghans say, Afghan trucks are stopped at Peshawar in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, just over the Afghan-Pakistan border.Officials said Kabul was now actively considering retaliating against Pakistan, by stopping Pakistani trucks from access to Central Asia. This would prevent them from picking up cheap, Chinese goods expected to flood the market when the train from the eastern Chinese city of Nantong to Haeraten on the Uzbek-Afghan border begins its regular service in a few weeks.
So Delhi and Kabul are now actively considering using their several daily commercial flights between the two capitals to create an air-corridor that would effectively give discounts to businessmen and entrepreneurs.Kabul’s friendly pro-Taliban analyst, Nazar Mohammed Mutmaeen, told this reporter “India is an important country in the region and we need to compare it with China, not Pakistan.”
Asked whether that meant the Taliban was changing its mind about India since 1992, when it hanged Afghan president and India’s friend Najibullah, Mutmaeen said: “The Taliban has changed. It is more mature now. It is not the same as it was before.”He added: “Pakistan is thinking of its own benefit only. But Afghans won't be used by Pakistan again. If the Pakistanis think they can use us, then they should remember what we did with the British, with the Soviets, with the Americans and NATO forces.”Perhaps the greatest proof of Taliban anger against Pakistan is the fact that Taliban leaders, including the brother of former Taliban chief Mullah Omar, met Afghan intelligence chief Mohammed Stanekzai and US officials in Doha, Qatar, for secret talks in September. No Pakistani officials were present at the talks.Considering Pakistan has been the chief negotiator between the Taliban and powerful players like the US and China, in the Pakistani hill town of Murree as well as in Qatar, the absence of Pakistani players in the latest secret talks will be a huge blow to Rawalpindi.
But Mutameen said Pakistan had been treating Taliban leaders badly for a long time. For example, Pakistan told the US that the former Taliban chief, Mullah Mansour, wanted to cross over to Helmand in southern Afghanistan. He was killed in a US drone strike in May."Pakistan had also arrested senior members of the Taliban who lived in Quetta for several years, such as Mullah Ahmadullah Nanay. Former Taliban second-in-command Mullah Baradar was arrested and had since had 'mind problems',” Mutmaeen said.“Pakistan wants privilege under the name of the Taliban and wants to use the Taliban against India,” he added.Amrullah Saleh, a former head of Afghanistan’s national security council, pointed out that none other than president Ashraf Ghani had come a long way since he reached out to the Pakistani ISI and army in Rawalpindi soon after he came to power in mid-2014.I“India has helped us get out of the siege mentality created by Pakistan,” said Saleh, adding that the road from Chabahar to the border Afghan town of Zaranj and onwards to the road that India has built to Delaram in southern Afghanistan must now be considered a “strategic route which is an alternative to the Karachi port".Over two days at the Herat Security Dialogue, even China’s ambassador to Kabul Yao Jing wasn’t spared. “Why would China continue to invest so heavily in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor when you know that Pakistan is involved in masterminding terror groups inside Afghanistan?” asked one questioner.Another wanted to know why Taliban leaders lived - and died - in Pakistan? A third asked why Mushahid Hussain, sent by Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif to the US to lobby on Kashmir, had said Pakistan would not be able to settle Afghanistan until the Kashmir problem was resolved? At an off-the-record dialogue between Afghans and Pakistanis on the eve of the Herat conference, an Afghan participant reportedly told her Pakistani audience that “if you go out on the streets, you will find that very few people like you".Perhaps the biggest gain of the last 15 years of freedom from the Taliban is that Afghans are increasingly challenging the world around them. India is seen as a benign power, its rapid economic growth an asset to the neighbourhood. The powerful Americans are seen both as protectors and as subversives. But it is with Pakistan that the biggest changes can be seen, with Afghans seeing them as sponsors of terror groups on the other side of the Durand Line.

What's up with Imran Kaun's protest rally? Doesn't look serious unlike last time when some Canadian mullah and ISI agent called Qadri also joined the protest with his followers and added fuel to fire. It was fun. Paki news websites had a protest calendar displayed on their front page and count down to the next event :rotfl: Nothing of that sort this time. Ganja seems to be playing his cards well. Shame on Raheel Shariff for retiring disgracefully without conducting a coo by riding a tank into Isloo like a true Paki jernail but trying to intimidate civilian govt by hiding behind losers like Imran Khan.

Ten dead, 45 injured in explosions at Gadani shipbreaking yard

Some pertinent comments / suggestions:
- these are "initial reports", so therefore the final casualty is surely more than ten
- the report is yet another example of the total lack of safety regulations and practices existing in Pakiland - in this labour -intensive industry
-most of those "poor labourers" would be from the "disturbed provinces of Balochistan and KP ( Gadani is close to Krachi, but technically is in Balochistan province )
- it is high time that the International Labour Organization - ILO sent their rep (preferably from their Asia Chapter and preferably an Indian origin ) to investigate labour practices in Pakisan

No exchange of sweets at India-Pakistan border on Diwali
The Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday did not exchange sweets and greetings with Pakistani Rangers on the occasion of Diwali, deviating from the norm. The BSF’s move is in the wake of heightened tensions between the two countries.
India has accused Pakistan of supporting terrorists who carried out an attack on an army base camp at Uri last month and unprovoked ceasefire violations along the International Border (IB) and the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months.
Border guards of both countries have for the past several years followed a tradition of exchanging sweets on major religious festivals such as Eid and Diwali, and also during Independence Days of both countries. The BSF is on maximum alert in Punjab following recent ceasefire violations and Pakistan-backed terrorism incidents in neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir. In the past two-three years, border guards have skipped the exchange of sweets on a few occasions. The exchange ceremony is mainly held at the Attari-Wagah joint checkpost, 30 km from Amritsar, on the International Border.
Punjab has a 553-km barbed wire fenced border with Pakistan. -ht

The Modi Govt ( after the Uri Attack ) has decided that it will not be "business as usual" with this terror sponsoring "artificial entity"

I.SI. Brigadier Attacks "Massaland's Amreeki Professor " At Afghanistan Conference

A befitting response to Christine Fair “the American witch”

By Brig Saad Muhammad[

In the second session of the HSD a woman from the United States, Christine Fair was a panel speaker. This woman is an Associate Professor at George Town University. She’s a known Pakistan baiter. She opened up with an attack on Pakistan. I have no issues with criticism of our policies but the foul language she used in her talk was as follows:
Pakistan is a terrorist predator state.
It is a hyena which is the ugliest scavenger.
The clowns of Rawalpindi. Referring to our military leadership.
It should be declared a terrorist state and sanctioned for exporting terrorism.
It is dubious and liar state.
But World Opinion seems to agree with the above mentioned conclusions
I was absolutely stunned and furious. So I decided to respond to this utterly vulgar tirade. Briefly my response was:

” I would like to respond to this woman who has used such disgusting words. Let me quote one the greatest military thinkers JFC Fuller. He had said‘The United States has no historical sense. It thinks war is lethal game and whoever has more lethal force wins.‘
You compared my country to a hyena. Well hyena has some emotions and can be friendly if treated well. Your country is like a vulture. This bird has no emotions and flies over the entire savannah scavenging carcasses. It has been scavenging on carcasses in South America, Central America, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya etc. It has made the entire world unsafe.
You just talk about the clowns in Rawalpindi. You have been very economical with the facts. What about your clowns in CIA and Pentagon? These clowns had no problem to incorporate Rawalpindi in SEATO and CENTO to contain the USSR. They had no problems when starting the disastrous Afghan wars. When these clownish vultures didn’t require Rawalpindi any more we are called clowns.
And please stop giving unsolicited advice to the Chinese. Unlike you they have 4000 years of civilisation behind them. They have the wisdom and farsightedness to do what they have to.”
"Sucking up" to the Chini- blothers!

The woman was absolutely furious. She was seething with anger. I had achieved what I wanted. She responded angrily and personal attack on me contemptuously calling me that General sitting over there. My response was, please get out of this region. You have created enough problems. We will solve our own problems and peace will come. That added further fuel to the fire. She feverishly started photographing me with her camera and cell phone. She even photographed me while we were having tea. Probably an article against me is coming with my photos. ? ? ?I am certain that I will be indelible in her memory till her grave. Pakistanis (unfortunately less some) after that could walk with a swagger.

Due to the "befitting reply" given by this representative of the "Deep State", paper work for his promotion to Major - General has already started in Isloo

Toronto Muslim Cop Shows His Pakistaniyat !
Toronto police union raises concerns about new chaplain’s views on women
The Toronto Police Association is raising concerns about the police service’s newest Muslim chaplain and his views on women and marriage.
In a 2013 webinar called The Heart of the Home: the Rights and Responsibilities of a Wife, Musleh Khan ( 99% sure that, with a name like that , origin has to be Pakiland ) describes himself as a marriage counsellor who wants to help couples of the Muslim-faith stay married.
A woman should be “obedient” to her husband at all times and must not refrain from intimacy without a “valid excuse,” he says. The slideshow accompanying Khan’s lecture says sickness and obligatory fasting would qualify.Islamic scholars say if a woman refuses “without a valid reason then she committed a major sin,” Khan says.
Wives should also seek permission from her husband before leaving the home because they are the guardians of the marital home, Khan says.
Toronto Police Association president Mike McCormack said Monday he is receiving emails and calls from members questioning whether the service should be associated with someone who believes women are “second-class citizens.”Toronto Police Service spokesperson Meaghan Gray said Monday that Khan did not want to comment for the Star’s article but was taken aback by the negative comments that have appeared online. He believes some of his comments have been “taken out of context in the larger lecture in which they were delivered,” she said.
“This is not acceptable in our city, or country,” McCormack said, reading from an email sent by a union member.

At the very least, this "bearded sepoy" should be suspended without pay until he can satisfactory explain his discriminatory remarks ; also, he should apply for a (police man's ) job in Saudia !

Two PTI workers allegedly killed by police shelling near Swabi interchange
http://dunyanews.tv/en/Pakistan/359170- ... ce-shellin

SWABI (Dunya News) – Atleast two Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers were allegedly killed from police’s shelling near Swabi interchange on Tuesday. The workers were shifted to Peshawar and Swabi hospital a day before where they succumbed to their injuries.

Provincial Health minister Shahram Khan Tarakai and District Nazim Peshawar Muhammad Asim have confirmed the deaths of the workers.

The clashes took place on the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway, more than 50 kilometres (30 miles) from the capital, as around 5,000 stick-wielding party workers tried to remove barricades put in place by police. Police firing tear gas clashed on Monday night with thousands of PTI supporters travelling from Swabi towards Islamabad, where their leader Imran Khan has vowed to stage a million-strong demonstration on November 2.

How To Tackle The "Pakistani Menace - By Tarek Fatah
Tarek Fatah’s five strategies that India should adopt to tackle Pakistan
Tarek Fatah, a name that needs no introduction to the international community of intelligentsia. Author of several books namely, “Chasing a Mirage: The Tragic lllusion of an Islamic State”, “The Jew is Not My Enemy: Unveiling the Myths that Fuel Muslim Anti-Semitism” etc. Known as an enemy of the state for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Tarek Fatah is presently on an Indian trip and spend some candid time with FinancialExpress.com exclusively.
Pakistan is the first Islamic State ever in human History. There was no Islamic State before that.
Modi is the only Prime Minister after Nehru who has reached out to the International community.
What are the 5 ways according to you that would be ideal to deal with Pakistan? Break off all diplomatic and trade relationship until Pakistan withdraws all its troops from the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and from Gilgit Baltistan. Shut down the Indus water treaty. Just tell them that we are at war with you, we cannot keep supplying water to you as long as you occupy our land. It is Indian territory and we cannot be subsidising your war against us.
Help Afghanistan to build a dam on the Kabul river. Start training Baloch guerrillas in Afghanistan’s borders like Nimrud and the border shared by Balochistan and Pakistan, specially the Balochi speaking areas. Train and arm them. Diplomatically work for an independent Balochistan, to end the occupation. These measures if adopted will be sufficient to close down the Paksitan chapter.

Diplomatic solutions take time ; World Opinion needs to be prepared for this ; IMHO, Modiji, slowly but surely is implementing all of the above !

Gadani oil tanker fire toll reaches 18
KARACHI: Eighteen labourers died and over 60 were injured when a crude oil tanker, brought to the Gadani shipbreaking yard in Balochistan for dismantling, caught fire after huge explosions.
“Nobody knows the actual number of labourers who were working on the vessel when it caught fire after the explosion. Some say there were 80 people, some say the number was 130 and some even claim that 200 labourers were on the ship at the time of the incident,” Shah claimed.
Emergency was declared at the CHK’s Burns Center and recently-established Trauma Center, Additional Medical Superintendent of CHK Dr Abdul Qadir said, adding that they had made arrangements for around 150 patients. However, only 35 patients were received, of which 20 were seriously injured and extremely burnt patients.
Labourers and health officials said those died and injured in the fire incident were working without protective gear and there were no arrangements to extinguish such a huge fire at the Gadani ship-breaking yard or to shift extremely-injured patients to hospitals.

How did he get a visa to travel to the US (I am assuming that's where the confrontation took place)? Saad is ISI (one does not retire from it).

you mean USA does not give visas to ISIS/ISI/IS etc ?

Habal-ji/ Anumisra- ji :

The "Afghanistan Conference" attended by Afghan, Pakistan and others (US "experts") was held in the western city of Herat, where the Pakistani participants were "grilled" by Afghan students / audience - and a consensus was reached by the Afghanis by "Pakistan is not interested in "peace in the region" !

PS: You are right! the "Deep State" Afsar would have had a hard time getting a visa for Massaland.

Saudi Begums Migrating to Pakiland ?

How a Saudi-born singer found her voice and her freedom in Pakistan

For musician Rutaba Yaqub, Pakistan is where she feels free.

It’s not a country known for gender equality, but for Yaqub, it's where she’s been able to pursue her dream to be a recording artist.
She moved from her home in Saudi Arabia to Pakistan six years ago to study computer engineering. For Yaqub, it meant freedom from Saudi Arabia’s stricter Islamic laws. And it’s in Lahore where she started singing — in public — at her university.
At just age 19, Yaqub was discovered by music producer and mentor Xulfi — imagine Simon Cowell, except nicer. She started as a backing vocalist for Xulfi’s television music series, "Nescafé Basement."Then she started recording her own music.
As compared to Saudia, Pakiland must have appeared to her as "heaven on earth" with the added bonus of being allowed to practice her "own" religion ( I am of course making an assumption here that the "khatoon" is a "practicing muslim " :D )
She says the inspiration came from her desire to escape when her family put pressure on her to move back to Saudi Arabia after she finished her degree in computer engineering.
She was desperate to stay in Pakistan.“I knew that I wouldn’t be able to pursue my music in Saudi Arabia, and I wouldn’t be able to live as freely as and independently as I do in Pakistan. So that was the inspiration behind the EP — because I just wanted to escape that prison-like feeling.”
She was able to convince her parents to let her stay in Pakistan and pursue music.
She spends her days working for a Pakistani music streaming site. The rest of her time is spent writing and recording music in her cozy apartment above a pizza place. But split between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, Yaqub says that she feels like she has two lives.
All she needs now, is to find herself a husband , who is into "Wahabi Islam" ; am pretty sure there are many Lahori Pakjabis who would "love" to have her ; then it will be like "heaven on earth" :)

8 diplomats in Pakistan compromised: India’s ministry of external affairs says the diplomats in Pakistan have been “completely compromised” after their names and pictures were put in the public domain
New Delhi: India said on Wednesday that the identities of eight of its diplomats in Pakistan had been revealed in the local media, amid continuing tensions between the nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours. Vikas Swarup, spokesman of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, declined to comment when asked whether the eight diplomats stationed in Islamabad would be withdrawn.
He also said six Pakistani diplomats had left the Indian capital on Wednesday, but that they were not expelled....

^ Is it not similar to the revelation publicly of the CIA station chief in Islamabad by the ISI after the Raymond Davis incident and the Station chief had to leave his job immediately as he feared reprisal attacks?

Indian bride posts viral Facebook status after Pakistani friend's visa gets rejected

Purvi Thacker just wanted her Pakistani best friend by her side on the biggest day of her life. But the Indian government didn’t see eye to eye with her.
...
“For all those who know mine and Sarah Munir’s friendship, you will understand how heartbroken we are that her visa application to India for my wedding in December was denied. That my best friend cannot be there for what will be my biggest day is something that I cannot come to terms with. Forget the hustling, the paperwork, the months of coordination and prayers — we didnt know that it would end with a rejection,” Purvi wrote on Facebook.

Slamming the governments on both sides of the border, she added, “It’s extremely sad that even though we have never let religion, nationalities , our shared history and even cricket come between us, incidents like this repeatedly make us feel like we should.

“We understand that our countries shared history has huge economic and political implications, but it also takes a toll on normal mundane things like human relationships and connections. Nobody thinks about that. Being friends and being there for each other should not be this hard just because we were born on different sides of the borders.”

Cinemas deserted as audience awaits release of Indian films

KARACHI:
It would be an understatement to say that boycotting Indian films has had a huge blow on Pakistani cinemas. Where Bollywood contributed 60% to 70% of the overall cinema business, local and Hollywood films have not been able to sustain it on their own, with the exception of three major Eid releases. The situation has been frustrating for audiences and exhibitors alike, and cinema parking lots have never been emptier than they are nowadays.

Speaking with The Express Tribune, Atrium Cinemas managing director Nadeem Mandviwalla said, “I would not say there has been a loss, but yes, business is low. Fewer people are coming to cinemas these days.” However, he expected the business to pick up once new films are released.

Gultasab agreed, saying, “About 80% of the calls we receive inquire about Indian films. That’s about 3,000 people and they all want to watch Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. It’s about the quality of the films. They don’t care if it’s Bollywood, Hollywood or a Pakistani film. If it’s a good film, they’ll watch it,” he said. “But most of the films we produce aren’t good enough, case in point being Abdullah – The Final Witness, which was released on October 28. It totally bombed with only 10-14 people in a 300-seat hall!”

Denied, well consider her lucky. Usually visas aren't denied, applications are kept pending... for ever.

The young bride should consult with the spirit of idiot-e-azam Jinnah and all those after him for what they was thinking (if they were capable of that) of how this would play out. "takes a toll on normal mundane things like human relationships" - you are no human in great Paki minds, you bunya.
