Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan-13 June,2016

US senate panel humiliates Pakistan again, virtually calls it a terrorist state

WASHINGTON: Pakistan was humiliated in an open US senate hearing on Thursday with lawmakers and witnesses confirming its terrorism-sponsoring credentials and seeking to further curtail aid to the country if it did not modify its behaviour.

In a remarkably candid hearing, US senators openly accused Pakistan of killing of American soldiers in Afghanistan through proxies after perfidiously skimming US taxpayer dollars.

They called Pakistan duplicitous. Supported by expert witnesses, including a former CIA station chief who served in Islamabad, they threatened further aid cuts to a country that has long lived on American and western dole when it is not extending its begging bowl towards Saudi Arabia and China for more crumbs.

"We've gone through a period of time where we've both viewed our relationship as very transactional. We tried to change that and deal with Pakistan in a different manner and to create a more whole relationship with them. From my standpoint, that hasn't been very successful," Republican senator Bob Corker, who convened the hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, declared while expressing frustration at Pakistan's continuing support for terrorist groups.

Corker was particularly incensed that after expending $33 billion in US tax-payer dollars, lot of it spend for infrastructure development in FATA, Washington was finding that Pakistan had spirited out terrorists from the region and was giving them safe havens in urban areas, keeping them out of reach of US drones by hiding them in civilian areas.

"Whereas at one time we were using our drones to ferret out terrorists in that region, what ultimately happened was they moved to the suburbs of Pakistan. They are now getting medical care. The Haqqani network leadership has been living there. The government of Pakistan knows where they live. As a matter of fact, they have safe havens there," Corker disclosed in remarks that could embarrass the John Kerry-led State Department and the Obama White House, which have both funneled aid to Pakistan despite its obvious lack of action on terror groups and its continued use of terror proxies in the region.

Caught with its pants down in the Mumbai terror strike eight years ago, with even US Court proceedings implicating Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI in the attack, Pakistan has tried various strategies to deflect attention, including accusing India of destabilizing it, an allegation that has found no traction despite being aired by its foreign office spokesman Nafees Zakaria on Thursday.

Instead, US lawmakers zeroed in on Pakistan's terrorist credentials, although the death of their soldiers in Afghanistan exercised them more than attacks on India.

Describing the Haqqani network, which Pakistan shelters, as the number one attempted killers of US soldiers in Afghanistan, Corker said its been of "tremendous concern to our (military) leadership there (in Afghanistan)" that Washington has a policy where "in effect we are working with Pakistan" and yet Pakistan's "extreme duplicity" sees it harboring terrorists, and through their own proxies destabilizing Afghanistan.

"It's a very frustrating relationship... I think all of us are becoming more and more frustrated," Corker fumed, a sentiment that was shared by other lawmakers and witnesses, including Georgia senator David Perdue, who cited several US administration reports that had chronicled Pakistan's backing of terrorism.

The expert panel that testified, including former CIA station chief Robert Grenier, essentially suggested looking at aid to Pakistan on a tactical basis against deliverables, with specific use being assigned to every dollar given.

Corker's committee, which curtailed $300 million in aid recently because of Pakistan's non-compliance on not supporting terrorists, looks likely to impose more cuts if Pakistan does not reel back.

Minister claims Pakistan to launch 5G soon but facts indicate otherwise

G is for Pee
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal claimed earlier this week that the government was planning to launch '5th Generation' cellular services "soon" for faster connectivity. The claim came as a shock, since parts of the country do not have access even to 3G services.Besides, 5G technology is not available anywhere in the world as yet. China, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom have all set targets of 2020 for the launch of 5G services ─ a deadline which several experts term "ambitious".A recent report published by OpenSignal, a wireless network mapping company, revealed that Pakistan's average 3G speed is among the lowest in the world at just 3.33Mbps. In contrast, South Korea possesses the world's highest average mobile internet speed at 41.34Mbps.
IT Minister Anusha Rehman vowed in July 2016 that Pakistan would be among the early adopters of 5G technology. No concrete efforts have been made in this regard as yet.Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Spokesperson Khurram Mehran told Dawn.com that concerned quarters were monitoring the situation closely as 5G technology has not yet been commercialised in the world.Mehran added that Pakistan was late to introduce 3G and 4G services but hoped that the latest technology would be adopted as soon as it is launched.Although specialists are still undecided on what exactly 5G means, it is certain the technology will be a game-changer, enabling users to download large amounts of data within seconds.5G speeds are expected to be one thousand times faster than current LTE data transfer speeds. China has even tested a prototype in this regard, with data transfer speeds of 3.5Gbps.Furthermore, 5G services will be operating on a millimetre wave base.

Which leader in her right mind would want to annex a jihadi Muslim population and weaken their own country ??? Yes, annexing territory without corresponding population would have been ideal - doubt if Check Yeager has any practical solution for that.

X Posted from the “Analyzing CPEC” thread.

Article titled “State of the Union” in The News by one Babar Sattar with a Harvard.edu e-mail id says that the Punjabi Dominated Military of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan conceives of CPEC as a “National Security Asset”, presumable making the economic dimension take a back seat and further has called for a “CPEC authority managed and run by serving generals”:
………… And then there is the CPEC. Every rational Pakistani will agree that it could open new vistas for us and is a good thing. But should it be conceived as a national security asset? No matter how close our relationship with China, we surely know that interests drive actions of nation-states, and in a changing world interests change too. Why should we consider or rely on something as a security asset the control of which doesn’t lie with us? What were the lessons from our alliances of the 50s and their utility during crunch time?

Granted that the CPEC is a vital communications and economic corridor that is a must-have, how does running power companies and other commercial projects fall within the military’s domain and expertise? Why should the military be interested in establishing a CPEC authority managed and run by serving generals?

Is the idea backed by the thought that even if the civilian government renders the economy bankrupt, the military will have an independent resource base to meet security needs? If so, is that the right way to think about Pakistan’s economy and security? Or is the CPEC too important to be subjected to the risk of civilian incompetence? If that is the logic, what about the police or the judiciary or issues like education and water management etc, all vital for Pakistan’s future? Can the military take over everything important to save Pakistan? …………..

Bakis won the 71 war because 90 thousand baki soldiers entered India unarmed, yet Indian troops did not dare to kill them. Instead Indians had to feed them. They went back to bakistan with gained weight.

ngry over pro-India stand, Pak troops abduct women, children of Baloch political family
New Delhi: The Pakistani security agencies have reportedly launched a full-scale crackdown on the civilian populace of Balochistan, particularly the political activists, as part of a military operation to crush the voice of dissent.
A prominent Baloch political outfit has claimed that the troops have attacked civilians and even abducted people in the ongoing operations.
and has called on the international community to take steps to stop Islamabad's human rights abuses in Balochistan.
"In many parts of Nasirabad District, Pak forces have carried out attacks. Baloch civilians have been harassed and many have been abducted," Abdul Nawaz Bugti, the representative of Baloch Republican Party at the United Nations Human Rights Council, said.
"In different parts of Dera Bugti, Baloch civil populace have been attacked and more than 19 Baloch civilians, including women and children, all belonging to same family have been abducted," Bugti told ANI in a video message.
He also said Pakistani security personnel were laying siege to the house of a political worker in the Turbat area for four days.
"His family, mostly women and children, is starving and Pakistani forces have denied access to them," Bugti said......

Sharifs’ sugar mills host 300 Indians, says Qadri
LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri on Friday unveiled a list of 50 Indians who have been allegedly working in sugar mills owned by the Sharif brothers.

“They are part of some 300 Indians working in the sugar mills on a police reporting-free, multiple-entry visas,” Qadri told reporters at the PAT Model Town secretariat.
“Exemption from police reporting is given in very high-profile cases. But these Indians, who have been given visas are engineers, welders, technicians and IT experts. Are all such experts not available in Pakistan? Either all Pakistanis should be allowed to import workers from India or the Sharifs should be questioned on this?” said Qadri.
Responding to Qadri’s allegations, Sharif Group of Industries Managing Director Yousaf Abbas Sharif said “not a single Indian is working in a Sharif family sugar mill.”

“Currently, 1,100 plus employees are working at the mills, none of whom are foreigners,” he said. “Tahirul Qadri is a proven liar. We are sending him a defamation notice and will take him to court,” Yousaf added

If Ayub Khan could be a Field Marshal, Gen Raheel Sharif is far more worthy of this honour. Read below a report that appeared in DAWN. ZAB tried to set the 'record straight' on a couple of occasions and this was one of them.
There is but one source that might explain the circumstances surrounding the appointment of our field marshal (which his military background cannot justify). On Aug 13, 1976, Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto addressed a note to his major-domo Aziz Ahmed, to the army chief of staff and to the cabinet secretary, the subject ‘The elevation of Gen Ayub to the rank of field marshal’. “I will tell you how Ayub Khan became a field marshal. When he promoted Lt Gen Mohammed Moosa to the rank of general and made him commander-in-chief of the Pakistan Army he told me in Nathia Galli in 1959 that he was worried over the quarrel between Gen Moosa and Gen Habibullah [the father of Lt Gen Ali Kuli Khan who rightly should have been made chief of army staff in October 1998 instead of Musharraf]. He told me that he was worried about Habibullah’s intrigues and ambitions. He asked for my advice on how to place himself head and shoulders above their squabbles. “I told him that one way of doing it was to show complete impartiality, fairness and justice, and I made the other suggestion rather cynically. I told him that since it was essential for him to be head and shoulders above the others, it would be better if he elevated his own rank from that of a general to that of a field marshal. He thought it a brilliant idea. He was simply overjoyed but as all his reflexes were influenced by monetary considerations, much to my surprise he said, ‘The idea is brilliant, it will create stability but we will have to persuade Mr Shoaib, the finance minister to agree to the financial aspects of the proposal.’ Of course Mr Shoaib agreed. Ayub became field marshal in October 1959. “At that time I was leading the Pakistan delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The formalities were completed in my absence. The cabinet willingly agreed to the proposal. All members of the cabinet, except Moulvi Ibrahim, the then law minister, dissented. I was informed that Mr Manzoor Qadir tried to give the impression of not being wholly in agreement but that was only for the sake of showing his convenient integrity. After the decision was taken at Karachi, Ayub Khan told his military secretary to phone me in New York and to thank me for making such a sound suggestion. I am therefore the hero of Ayub Khan’s valorous battles. Of course, the object of this note is not to dismantle the man. Some of us can still refer to him with respect. I am only setting the record straight.”

Will close Pakistan's transit route if not allowed to use Wagah border to trade with India: Ashraf Ghani - ToI
Kabul has warned to shut Pakistan's transit route to Central Asian countries if it does not allow Afghan traders to use Wagah border for trade with India, local media reported on Saturday.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani during a meeting with Owen Jenkins, the UK's special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, in Kabul on Friday threatened, "If Pakistan does not allow Afghan traders to use the Wagah border for imports and exports of their goods, Afghanistan will also not allow Pakistan to use Afghan transit routes to reach Central Asia and other countries for exports."

Ghani's statement in Pashto language was posted on Afghan president's official website.

He said, "Afghanistan wanted Pakistan and other regional countries to remove all technical problems that create obstacles in economic cooperation."
But Islamabad usually closes transit routes during the fruit season, which President Ghani said, had been causing loss of millions of dollars to Afghan traders.

Afghanistan had many alternatives for international trade, he added. The Afghan President said that India had agreed to exempt Afghanistan from financial tariff for the export of fruits to the country.

Media reports quoted Afghan officials saying that Kabul had long been demanding the use of Pakistan's land route to deliver goods at the Indian border town of Attari via Wagah. "However, Pakistan is reluctant to grant such a permission in view of the state of its relations with New Delhi," they said.

Afghan sources, according to media reports, said that Afghanistan's goods, mostly fresh fruits were stopped at Wagah and not allowed to go up to Attari. "The goods are offloaded in Wagah and then carried in carts up to Attari and loaded on again. This adds to the transportation cost as well as to a significant spoilage," an anonymous Afghan source was quoted as saying.

Afghanistan had asked Pakistan to allow transportation of its fruits to Attari and transfer to Indian trucks in a back to back arrangement. "This alone can will double or triple our export of fruit to India," the source added.

During his meeting with Jenkins, President Ghani again accused Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism.

Actually, Pakistan has won all wars against India. Bangladesh is just a propaganda. East Pakistan is ruled by a Pakjabi Governor. Pakjabi soldiers can rape and kill any East Pakistani, as always. It is pretty obvious that Ayub Khan and Pakistan won WW1 and WW2. As per Chuck Yeager this is true since neither Germany nor the Allies annexed Pak. Paki historians are also considering if Ayub won some wars before he was himself conceived. The reports will be published shortly I hear.

PM Narendra Modi’s Mission 'Isolate Pakistan' Gets a Huge Fillip
Zakka Jacob | CNN News18
First published: September 10, 2016, 5:51 PM IST
The government of India has unveiled a definitive change in tactic over the last few weeks in its Pakistan policy.
It was revealed first in Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar's letter to his Pakistani counterpart in the last week of August where India said it was willing to discuss all terror that emanates from Pakistan - not just the terror that targets India but also the terror that targets other countries in South Asia, most notably, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
It was better articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the course of the last week, first at the G20 and later at the East Asia summit.
The Prime Minister said, "Only one nation in South Asia is responsible for the export of terror. This use of terror as an instrument of policy has reduced the space for peace and dialogue."
Then he followed that up with a position India hasn’t taken in many years unless we were at war or in situations of extreme diplomatic strife. The PM said, "the time has come for the international community to isolate such exporters and sanction such instigators of terror."
Make no mistake, the international community is in no mood to sanction Pakistan just yet. US State Department spokesperson Mark Toner said twice in two days that America "wasn’t even contemplating" such a move.....

Dasu dam: Chinese firm fails to secure WB approval for project bidding
SLAMABAD: The World Bank has refused to entertain a Chinese firm’s plea, seeking its early intervention in the bidding process regarding the construction of 4,320MW Dasu hydropower project on the Indus River. The bank has, however, advised Messrs Power Construction Corporation of China Limited (PCCCL) to approach Islamabad and the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) for the bidding process of Dasu dam to be built in Kohistan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).During the last hearing on September 2, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan was of the view that further delay in the construction of the dam would aggravate the problems, adding the development of Dasu dam should have been completed a decade ago.“The delay has already escalated the total cost of the project manifold which will definitely burden Wapda, as well as the common taxpayer,” the judge noted.

Folks, A different angle on Pakistani Military thinking through A I Akram and his Biography on Khalid Bin Waleed :
Mahan ; We know that it is hardship and hunger that have brought you out of your lands. We will give every one of your men ten dinars, clothing and food if you return to your lands, and next year we will send you a similar amount.

Khalid : actually what is brought us out of our lands is that we are a people who drink blood, and it has reached us that there is no blood tastier than Roman blood.
Khalid Bin Waleed : An Ideal Pakistani? :

Please let me know what you think? Thanks...

It has happened

Kabul bans Pak transit trade
London - The Afghan government on Saturday banned the entry of Pakistani transit trade vehicles carrying goods to the Central Asian countries.

A statement issued by the Afghan Presidential Palace said the Pakistani goods trucks will not be allowed to use Afghan route. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani took the decision after Pakistan banned the entry of Afghan trucks carrying dry fruit to India through Wagah border.

Seems like Afghans are much more smart and pragmatic than Indian candle kissers. Perhaps we need to empower them more to kick the Bakis.

I wonder if the Afghan side are sufficiently convinced about the viability of the Chabahar corridor, thus, they are confident enough of closing the transit route for the Bakis, perhaps with Unkil's blessing.

Did Pakistan consider the possible consequences of decisions such as creating Afghanistan difficulties in transporting goods to India?

Sanctioning Pakistan can backfire, US lawmakers warned
The fact that ideas of sanctions and declaring Pakistan a terror sponsor are being openly discussed is a good sign.
Mr Markey said that the next US president could take “a far more coercive approach” with Pakistan than the outgoing president, Barack Obama.

This is Bakistan we are talking about. Thinking about consequences is not something that comes to them. I don't know what's the amount of Baki trade that transits through Afghanistan, but it may not be much, given the dismal volume of Baki trade overall.

In this instance, Bakis are not creating difficulties in transporting Afghan goods to India, it's the Afghan imports from India that are disallowed currently.

Officially they claim it's due to the fear of Indian products bound for Afghanistan being illegally re-routed or re-exported to Bakistani markets, thereby harming local industry. That's load of hogwash, since Afghanistan is permitted to import Indian good via Karachi. That should increase the scope for black marketeering. Plus, Indian brands are all over Bakiland, making their way via Dubai or Afghanistan anyway.

Unofficially, there could be multiple factors at play over here
1. As it was discussed here a while ago, some sort of power games between the Lahore lobby and the Karachi lobby that regulate Baki trade. Trade through Wagah would mean a big blow to the Karachi lobby.
2. Since it's cheaper, quicker and easier for Afghanis to import via Wagah, Bakis are probably worried about ceding further leverage over Afghanistan to India.

No, not at all. If you look at the history of animosity between the Afghans and Pakistan since 1947, you will know that the Afghans never relished the Pakistanis as their neighbours. One can only surmise that it would have been a very different and beneficial case for all countries in and around the Indian subcontinent had India been the immediate neighbour of Afghanistan.

Recent talk of Shri Ajit Doval -

Today India is more united than ever but Pakistan has been divided into 2 and is probably still not at the end of it.
8)

I hope a plan is in place.

Other points:

Praises Modi -
PM Modi has a clear vision for India and backs security establishment fully.
In the last 2 years, large number (most) terror attempts have been foiled
On importance of national will -
People who have made no sacrifices for the country come on the streets with slogans about fragmenting India. Bharat tere tukde honge inshallah inhallah. It's not what they said is important but how the rest of the society respond to that is important. When the rest of the society is mute spectator and consider that as merely an event, if it's not something that shakes them up, it means national will is not up to the point where it has to be.
So true.
Nothing is stronger than an idea whose time has come. I am an old man now and I have seen shaping of the country over number of years post Independence. I will tell and take my word for that India's time has come and the world has realized it but but some of our own country men fail to recognize it.
India will play a much greater global role in times to come.

Pakistan-Russia military to hold first ever joint drills - PTI
Pakistan and Russia are set to hold their first-ever joint military exercises later this year, media reported today, reflecting increased military cooperation between the two former Cold War rivals.

Around 200 military personnel from the two sides would take part in the joint military exercises, The Express Tribune quoted a senior Pakistani official as saying.

The move comes amidst increasing defence ties between Moscow and Islamabad as the latter was also thinking to buy advanced Russian warplanes.

Pakistan's Ambassador to Moscow Qazi Khalilullah told the newspaper that this is the first time that military personnel from the two countries would be taking part in joint military drills called 'Friendship-2016'.

He, however, did not divulge further details about the nature of the exercises or dates. The development, Khalilullah said, reflected increased cooperation between the two countries.

"This obviously indicates a desire on both sides to broaden defence and military-technical cooperation," he told a Russian news agency last week.
The joint military drill is seen as another step in growing military-to-military cooperation, indicating a steady growth in bilateral relationship between the two countries, whose ties had been marred by Cold War rivalry for decades, the paper said.

Islamabad decided to broaden its foreign policy options after its relations with the US deteriorated after secret CIA raid in Abbottabad killed al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in May 2011.

Pakistan's relations with the US were soured recently when US lawmakers blocked funds for the sale of eight Lockheed Martin Corporation's F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan.

Pakistan decided to look at alternative sources to purchase the aircraft including from Jordan.

Over the last 15 months, the chiefs of Pakistan's Army, Navy and Air Force travelled to Russia. The flurry of high-level exchanges between the two nations resulted in the signing of a deal for the sale of four MI-35 attack helicopters to Islamabad.

The formal agreement, which was signed in Moscow in August 2015, was considered a major policy shift on part of Russia in the wake of growing strategic partnership between the US and India.

Islamabad is eager to improve its ties with Moscow to diversify its options in the event of any stalemate in ties with Washington, The Express Tribune said.

After securing a deal of MI-35 helicopters, Pakistan is also exploring options to buy Su-35 fighter jets from Russia, it said.

For this purpose, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman visited Moscow in July.

The Pakistani ambassador said the PAF chief held 'fruitful' discussions with Russian authorities but would not provide further details of new military purchases, including the multirole, air superiority fighter Sukhoi Su-35.

The rail link between iran and afghanistan has just crossed over from the iranian side to the afghan side.
This is a cheeni built railway line.
The road from chahbahar to afghanistan's ring road has been up and running for many years now. Afghanistan is no longer land locked and dependent on Pakistan for access.
Only massa is dependent on Pakistan for access, because they don't yet have good relations with Iran
