J&K: Security forces on high alert after reports of 'large scale infiltration'

SRINAGAR: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have been put on a high alert following reports of large scale infiltration of terrorists in the Valley from across the Line of Control, officials said here today.

There are reports of infiltration of over 20 terrorists into Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) recently, the officials said.

They said most of the militants are believed to be affiliated to Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit headed by Maulana Masood Azhar.

The security grid is apprehending a spike in terrorist attacks in the state, particularly in the Valley, the officials said.

The security forces have been asked to remain on a high alert and maintain vigil around sensitive security installations across the state, they said.

The officials said it is rare for such a large number of terrorists to infiltrate in one go and indicated the desperation of their handlers across the LoC to keep the Kashmir pot boiling.

Just great...wonder what possesses Indian politicians to have frequent and extreme bouts of stupidity when it comes to Pakistan.

First the unilateral ceasefire in J&K even after which forces were attacked by terrorists about a dozen times, had a vehicle destroyed by a massive IED, and pelted with stones.

Then the idiotic LOC ceasefire that only suited Pakistan's interests and gave them breathing space. I expected them to slyly exploit it and pick the right time to use a BAT etc to initiate hostilities again but they haven't even bothered to wait till then, in fact it was probably a well thought out plan to preempt the next round of retaliatory fire on the LOC that they knew was coming their way when the 20 suicide attacker terrorists that they infiltrated to do major attacks carried them out.

Anti-India protests have flared in Indian-administered Kashmir after one of two demonstrators run over by police on Friday died in hospital.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-44341496
Friday's incident happened during protests against alleged police heavy-handedness in a raid during Ramadan on a city mosque they consider to be a hotbed of militants.

Security forces say the police were defending themselves from attack, but some local people say they deliberately drove into the crowd.

Graphic images have been circulating on social media of the young man's face as the paramilitary jeep drives over him.

CRPF Vehicle, Attacked By Protesters, Runs Over 3 In Kashmir; Police Cases Filed
A police officer said the incident took place when the CRPF vehicle, on its way back after dropping a senior officer, ran into a street protest.

The incident occurred days before Home Minister is to visit the valley
Video footage shows the vehicle encircled by a mob

A CRPF vehicle targeted by protesters in downtown Srinagar ran over three people in an attempt to get away, triggering a fresh wave of protests and criticism for the government. One of the three who had received serious injuries, later died.

The police have filed two First Information Reports or FIRs against the CRPF and unidentified stone throwers. While the stone throwers have been charged for attempt to murder and rioting, the CRPF driver has been charged with rash driving.

The incident in Srinagar's Nowhatta area, just a few days before Home Minister Rajnath Singh is to visit the valley, could dampen the centre's renewed efforts to reach out to Kashmiri youth after announcing the Ramzan truce with terrorists.

Mr Singh had planned to use his visit to not only review preparations for the Amarnath Yatra due to begin on June 29 but more importantly, signal his intent to engage with all stakeholders including the Hurriyat leaders.

The outrage over the latest incident could overshadow the outreach.

A police officer said the incident took place when the CRPF vehicle, on its way back after dropping a senior officer, ran into a street protest.

The sequence of events isn't very clear yet.

But video footage that has emerged shows the vehicle encircled by a mob, people trying to force their way into the vehicle and the driver trying hard to get away.

Another clips shows the vehicle driving through the hostile group of people who are throwing stones and bricks from close range, and people removing one of the injured

This is what fringe mobster stone pelters did to #CRPF Jawans by throwing stones at their vehicle which turned turtle early this morning in Bemina of Srinagar, Kashmir. J&K Govt not helping brave forces in Kashmir. Is this what they want to achieve by Ramzan Ceasefire in J&K?

Vikram Sood Says That India Should Not Have Agreed To The Ramzan Ceasefire

National Security: Time to act, not react or appease
Vikram Sood
May 28, 2018
R Thirumani, who had come on holiday to Kashmir with his family, was killed by stone-pelters earlier this month. His only misfortune is that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. One of those 3,970 ‘stone-pelters’ pardoned by chief minister Mehbooba Mufti three months ago killed Thirumani. As has been typical in such cases, the response from the many normally loquacious commentators has been muted. It is necessary to remind them, for whatever it is worth, that these stone-pelters were responsible for injuries to over 11,566 security personnel and thousands of civilians.
It took a Kashmiri politician, Peoples Democratic Party’s Yasir Reshi, to remind us what many Kashmiris have become. He called them ‘qatils’ (murderers) for killing an innocent young tourist. ‘Kashmiriyat’ (Kashmir’s inclusive tolerance) and ‘insaaniyat’ (humanism) were gone, he added.
What he did not say was that ‘Islamiyat’ has taken over. We prefer to call them stone-pelters as we have a tendency of not wanting to face the truth. These stone-pelters are just thugs on daily wages. Some of us agonise over the killing of a professor-turned-terrorist. But there is no human-interest story about Thirumani of the kind that appears when security forces shoot down a terrorist.
We forget that Osama bin Laden was an engineer, Ayman Al Zawahiri a dentist and Hafiz Saeed a professor. It is this double standard that has made many cynical about Reshi’s agony. Kashmir is in this present state largely because of repeated mistakes by our politicians for the last three decades.
Good governance was never a priority. Former National Conference chief minister Farooq Abdullah was dethroned through a ‘palace coup’ in 1984, and his brother-in-law, Gul Mohammed Shah, replaced him, who began to coddle the Islamists. This was the beginning of the decline. The kidnapping of Rubaiyya Syed, daughter of then J& K home minister Mufti Mehmood Sayeed, and the manner in which the inept VP Singh government caved into the kidnappers’ demands, was another abject landmark. This was the spark that lit the fire in the 1990s.
Pakistan unleashed all its jihadi forces. Indian overtures like the Lahore bus were negated by Kargil intrusions. For long after, and through many governments, India oscillated between threatening to teach Pakistan a lesson and making overtures of peace.
For long, we have believed that cyclical gestures of generosity would bring the Pakistani government around. We simply failed to grasp that the Pakistani army cannot afford peace with India for fear that it will lose a country it owns. Besides, a country that has an estimated 100,000 bigots armed for jihad cannot afford peace with India because demobilised jihadis will become an internal menace for Pakistan.
It already has . The TTP is now an internal menace for Pakistan . They want a much "greener Pakiland"
The pattern has been that each time politicians muddy the situation, security forces have to step in to clean the mess. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee called off the November 2000 Ramzan ceasefire six months after terrorist violence increased. A ceasefire at the beginning of the jihadis’ summer offensive is just what they needed. After relentless pressure from armed forces, this allowed them to recoup and regroup for continued terrorist activity.
Besides, as Indian Army veteran, Major Surendra Poonia asked, “Why do we want ceasefires in the month of Ramzan? Why not during Diwali/Durga Puja, or Christmas?” Magnanimous gestures and grand concessions are a function of strength and victory. Otherwise, they are appeasement.
Very true !
In any negotiations with insurgents, GoI will necessarily be making concessions because insurgents have nothing to give in return. Premature negotiations also tantamount to appeasement. Periodic sops have become an entitlement.
Let us also not get beguiled by a glib talk from Pakistan’s army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa about peace with India. This is only for effect and has happened before. The general is currently preoccupied. He has to retain the army’s primacy in Pakistan to manipulate elections, mainstream Pakistan’s senior-most jihadis, subdue the restive Pashtuns and control Afghanistan.Pakistan has consistently taken advantage of India’s vacillation. Instead, what India needs is to give up policies of political expediency and appeasement in the Valley. In dealing with Pakistan, we must cease to be merely reactive and perpetually hopeful that Pakistan policies towards India will change. Instead, we need to draw up our own plan of action that hurts the opposition.

Nothing new in Soodji's op-ed, its the more nationalistic hawkish view opposite to that of the WKK views of Dulat type morons.

However, I will say this. The other day, I was skimming through the usual 'debates' about the Ramzan cease-fire and India TSP agreeing to holding cease-fire along IB and LoC. The Bimbo anchor was already calling for talks with TSP and such because Pakis have been 'so nice' in agreeing to cease-fire.

But there was one guy on the panel, J&K minster. He was no p!ssful, matter of fact, I think he was from BJP. And he made sense when he said that he supports the cease-fire (but went too far IMO in advocating talks with TSP) for the simple reason that Paki perverts as usual turn on the heat at the vulnerable Hindu population living in close proximity to LoC and IB in Jammu region. Of course, in response, we hit TSP in their areas of vulnerability. But that is it. And because so many civilians have to flee the border areas, he (the BJP legislator) was saying that he supports DGMO talks to reduce this firing.

So it opened my eyes to the extent that Pakis are clearly playing on Indian vulnerabilities along the LoC and IB and they raise the temperature and then bring it down at will. Its one thing for Pakis to take India head on in which case they will pay a price. But they target Hindu civilians in vulnerable areas causing a lot of property and human damage and misery, and there is not much India can do short of escalation. Hence the cease-fire.

But as Sood and others point out, this cease-fire has the negative consequence in that having pinned India down to a cease-fire, Pakis can push pigLeTs unhindered into the valley. So now if India resumes firing to stop pigLeTs, TSP will retaliate as I explain above and the cycle repeats. But with guns silent on the LoC and IB, action now shits back to the valley where the infiltrated pigLets attack and rabid KM scum pelt stones and create chaos, and we have WKKs back in action. Clearly, as we all know, TSP is playing a familiar game. ModiJi and DovalJi don't have an answer to this. I know its tough, but essentially nothing has changed in J&K at the macro level in terms of defeating TSP strategy.

Well, the J&K policy of both state and GoI has been pathetic. Pakis have plenty of supply of mujahids wanting to go to jannat, the attacks can't be stopped 100%. But where govt failed is increasing the cost to terrorist handlers in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Just 1 surgical strike is being boasted about. Doval boasted of offensive defense, but only defense been going on, we've been neutralizing terrorist inside our territory, in the meanwhile losing our soliders and civilians. Today 2 more BSF jawans have been martyred during the "ramzan ceasefire".

One of the biggest way to route money nowadays is via hotel bookings. All these kashmiri hotels have no cancellation policy, so hotel rooms are booked online for guests that never show up. Free money directly under the nose of the establishment under the garb of legal business. This is the reason why hotels are now toxic venues for meeting CIs.

The hotels would still have to pad up expenses to avoid paying income tax on bogus receipts of income, isn't it? There must be some way to invoke penal provisions of IT Act to impound income besides PMLA provisions. Just wondering.

The blood of those soldiers is directly upon the heads of whoever came up with and approved that ceasefire (sure, the Pakis did it but we put our own in harms way by compromising with them). But hey, there will be some claims on twitter and facebook about massive retaliation and people will feel smug and happy and forget all about it after a few days.

A clip on news channel showed a mil. vehicle surrounded by pro-Paki scum attempting to bash the vehicle and its occupants any which way. This violent behaviours deserves only the third-degree response.Shoot to kill. The GOI should dismiss the duplicitous and sanctimonious Mehbooba Mufti led travesty of a govt. , by withdrawing support, imposing president's rule and then take the foll. measures.

1.Clear rules for all citizens regarding protests.
Any stone throwing will automatically invite a tear gas then rubber-bullet response if it continues. If the violence continues and police and para-mil lives are in danger,
warning sirens and warning shots , below waist firing before shoot- to-kill orders are given.Stone-pelting a criminal offence with a min. of 1 yr. to begin with.Jailed outside the state.

Any Kashmiri found carrying any kind of weapon-
guns, knives, grenades, etc., will get an automatic 10 yr. sentence by military courts, specially set up to try those indulging in anti- Indian activities. The NHRC can have their designates on the bench/ investigating agencies to ensure that no accusation of human rights abuses can be held against the GOI.

2.Use special paint canisters ,bright yellow/ orange ,which will remain for days upon rioters/ stone pelters. This will make it easy to identify them and pick them up later.Swift trials with expulsion from the Valley/state for a min. of 3 years.Habitual offenders will get 10 yr. sentences and after " 3 strikes", be banished from the state forever.

3.Set up penal camps in the ANC for those expelled.Let the crocs and Sentinalese deal with them.Incorrigibles sent to the Sentinalese for their pleasure! These camps will allow them no communication with the outside world. No radio, TV or any media source.Use these scumbags as penal labour in the islands just as the Chins do worldwide for their infra projects.Get the sh*worms to help build up our massive ANC infra reqd. to counter the Chins. They can also be used elsewhere if needed.Stalinist gulags on the mainland, but they will then have opportunities for escape. The French had Devil's Island for their hard-core criminal cum.A good example to emulate for our jihadist scum.

4.Any Kashmiri family whose members are found to be criminals will be banned from leaving the state. You find Kashmiri carpet- wallahs peddling their wares all over India while our Pandits cannot go back home!
Even in Jewtown Cochin, the Synagogue St. houses once owned by Jews has been (deliberately) taken over by
Kashmiri beardies!

Confiscation of property of anyone found guilty of terrorism, aiding terrorism, indulging in grave acts of violence, sedition, treason and acting in anyway in behalf of the enemy.Any building or entity showing the Paki flag will automatically draw fire with extreme prejudice.Confiscation or even demolition of property of anyone found guilty, or assisting of the death of Indian forces doing their duty.

5.Immediate building of new fortified settlements across the state like Roman encampments of yore, to re-house
the Pandits. These new walled fortified settlements must be totally self sufficient for services, etc.V.difficult for jihadist to penetrate. We have enough great forts in India to draw inspiration from, Chittorgarh for example, other Rajputana forts and the Maratha forts of Sivaji.Yhen there are those of the Europeans still used by us like Fort William in Cal.Half a million Pandits have been forced out of their homeland. It's past time to bring ghem back home...with a vengeance!

6.Increase the numbers of regular troops in the state with heavy firepower. Our new desi arty. and MBRLs with extended range must pulverise Paki positions across the LOC as long as their house I attacks continue.

7.Madrasas to be modernised with a new national syllabus, no longer purely religious schools.Such move is being contemplated in the rest of India and even Pak, as these purely religious entities are the breeding grounds for brainwashed fundoos.

8.The infra routes into the state as is being done with the new road tunnel, should be accelerated.A rail route into the Valley essential for the rapid induction troops and material.

However, the key to the return of J&K to normality is the return of the Pandits and the beefing up of the military stranglehold on the state , plus resounding military cross-border action by use of heavy arty., and on occasion special strikes into POK especially eradicating jihadi centres identified by UCAV and PGM air strikes if need be.
Muzzafarbad should be in the cross-hairs of our forces, by both overt and covert means.

Those advocating a tougher policy, I don't know what they mean short of escalation. They kill our people and soldiers, and well kill theirs along the LoC. We know why the LoC is hot, because TSP needs to push in its pigLeTs (amazing the # of pigLets and their motivation). We do see DovalJi's offensive defense in action for sure, but that has not deterred the Pakis.

So leaving aside all the noise, the obvious question is what does one mean by making TSPA/ISI pay a price. One surgical strike and all the hype surrounding it is fine, but come on, we know Pakis even while denying the surgical strike are laughing at our boasts. They continue to inflict heavy damage on us through their pigLeTs. I think offensive defense has reached its limits because of the obvious. Soldier to soldier, there is equilibrium. But Pakis have pigLeTs, India doesn't. If ever India had its own pigLeT card, it were the 'bad' Talibunnies, but they have been subdued by TSP. And short of any state support, Balochi rebels can only watch in despair as Pakis mow them down. Like the surgical strike, ModiJi's invoking of the Baluch card was just a one off thing to scare Pakis, but Pakis laughed that also off by plucking Kulbushan Jhadav from nowhere.

There is some international pressure on TSP (their sugar daddies, Chincoms and USA) and to this extent, Pakis have refrained form attacking mainland India with their pigLeTs. But terror in Kashmir is speciously cast as 'indigenous uprising', and they have stone pelters and valley Islamists protesting India on daily basis as 'proof' of that bogus claim. And India has been rendered so impotent through 'secularism' that it dare not say what is going on in the valley as Islamic fascism that needs to be dealt with an iron hand, lest it be accused of "Hindus fascism" especially under a BJP govt.

Bottom line: What we are seeing is a bit of cooling of temperatures at the macro level, but TSP will continue to pinch India's b@lls reminding ModiJi that we are sparing you until you agree to talks. And they believe once talks take place, its downhill for India: (Valley KMs + TSP + TSP's 5th column in India) Vs Indian nationalists will be a 1-sided affaisr like Shane Watsons' batting in the IPL final. Thus, given the horrible divided domestic situation in India, where opposition thugbandhan believes ModiJi, BJP, and RSS are bigger enemies to confront than TSP, does anybody with any political acumen believe ModiJi can do anything more on the ground? Indian army must ensure TSP doesn't succeed in any high profile attacks to draw international and India's attention. Thats the best we can hope for at the moment.

Supratik, I am aware of all the non military options, but there is not a chance in thin air to be able to implement them given India's domestic turmoil. Frst and foremost, I would pack TSP ambassador from India's soil, or at least ask TSP to reduce their ISI mission in Delhi to skeletal staff. Next, I would cancel that disgusting colonial spectacle on Wagah border. Do you think even these 2 reasonable steps in the face of such TSP criminality be implementable. Such is the level of India's impotence, thx to 70+ years of 'secularism'.

this ceasefire seems to work only for the pakis. in Srinigar our soldiers are pelted with brickbats and on the border common folks are forced to migrate from their homes and hearths. Numerous civilians are injured and seeking treatment in ill equipped and overloaded hospitals.

Paintball or pellet guns with permanent markers.

Its not a bad idea.

Anyone caught rioting gets expelled from the state for 1 yr on first offence, 5 on second and permanently on third.

All the rioting and stone pelting will stop real quick as more and more get booted out.

We need to equip CRPF and RR and others with cameras with audio, so that all these stone pelting (which is actually an attempt to murder) at encounter locations get filmed, and also (like the video above) show to the country the conditions under which CRPF operates.

I think this is the first time CG has not filed a counter affidavit in the Art35A cases in SC. Now it is just based on law notwithstanding the counter affidavit filed by Mufti govt. Lets see what happens.

This is coming in the under/over invoicing racket by the pakis. This loophole has been known for sometime now. Many caught and action taken.

Still continues, though

Army men trying to convince the family of a terrorist jihadi to persuade him to surrender. I dont understand why this kind of people are not sent to Pakistan where they can continue to engage in jihad to their hearts content.

more deadly news from Jammu and Kashmir: Four BSF men killed, Five injured in Pakistan firing along IB in Samba sector.
http://brighterkashmir.com/jammu-and-ka ... ba-sector/
The unprovoked Pakistani firing came days after BSF and Pakistani Rangers had agreed to ensure the ceasefire along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir. On May 29, a BSF DIG and Rangers Brigadier had met and agreed to implement the ceasefire pact of 2003 in “letter and spirit”.
Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid expressed his condolence over the killings of BSF troopers in firing from across the border.
“In Ramgarh Jammu sector of IB , 4 BSF personnel were killed including one Asstt Commandant & 5 injured due to firing from across. Our heart goes to those who lost their dear ones,” Vaid tweeted.
At around 10:30 pm Tuesday, Pakistani Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing from across the border in Chamliyal post area of Ramgarh sector in Samba district. The intermittent firing continued till 4:30 am on Wednesday morning, a police official said.

It is time to drop this track-II and 2003 agreement BS. We should lit up whole NaPak border - why the hell give NaPak - option to select where to fight and keep mum. Lit everywhere and say you guys started it and now propose how to stop it? What are you willing to offer to have ceased fire, it will not come free of cost. Hafiz soor or Dawood or return some part of the land under PoK??

There should be Zero concession or appeasement. Let's bully the bully.

It will keep happening till we have a planned operation which causes unacceptable casualties on them, a few hundred dead. But it cant be reactionary. It has to be planned with no political interference. Must require a build up and must be done at a time or place of our choosing and we should be able to handle any escalation they try.

What more escalation do we need? Army should prepare silently and we don't require additional troops on the border. We need people with courage, innovation and adaptable to do more with less with proper political backing.

It does no good to fire every bullet in rage but it's more effective to xx bullets to take down x soors. Maybe time to test Dhrunsh in real time put them 20-30 km behind the line and fire those from there on selected targets. If it works as expected move it to close to a line and next time some fat soor is around - create an environment and do your job. Never let any fat soor come closer than 50 kms from the line.

These guys walked into a preselected, pre prepared kill zone. They were going to inspect some damage and assess the repair involved.

The approach involved traversing some open area bereft of cover and their movement was clearly discernable to the patiently waiting pakis.

Bugger the ceasefire, this approach should have been made under covering fire, if at all.

How many times have we been taken in by such "cease fire" ploys and why do we always believe that the pakis will be scrupulous in implementing the ceasefire?? and pay the ultimate price??

The fact that the pakis trapped the BSF officers on open ground means that the pakis knew in advance that the BSF guys would be coming.

We need to think dirty and fight dirty just like the pakis do. This Sanatana dharma approach is just not working. The vital importance of communication hygiene and also radio silence just cannot be emphasized.

At the end of the day, who actually "broke" the cease fire is a matter of supreme indifference. In the larger scheme of things, it will simply boil down to a small matter of "he said, she said" and no one will really give a damn, all will be forgotten, no lessons learned except by the pakis who have again managed to refine their tactical approach and set up for the next time.

I think it is only dawning on many Indians including those in the Armed forces that Pakis respect no agreement. I hope we retiliate in such a manner and casualties soo high that the Pakis can't hide and they temporarily lay low when we have to prepare. Until we split the nation again we can expect no peace.

Agree to the cease fire but keep pounding. That's exactly what the pakis always do. Why are we so different or indifferent??

We are being led by the nose by an unmistakably jehadi CM, beholden to the pakis and taking orders from across the border. Is that so difficult to see??

in ANY ceasefire, the pakis and the jehadis ALWAYS consolidate. While we go back to the barracks, mentally speaking.

Army jawan, involved in encounter of terrorist Sameer Tiger, kidnapped from Shopian

This current pussyfooting around will not do. Time to reactivate the Ikhwan type orgs and pay them back in kind - bump off the OGWs one by one.
