The party brass has underlined that the issue of scrapping Article 35-A or Article 370 is not on the agenda.

vivek ji dont you think we have waited enough to have a safe environment?
The kashmiris hindus i grew up in school with are either in Indian military serving their motherland (actually 5-10)
or are in different cities of india where most of urban crowd lives. I doubt any of them are going back.

My take is that this land has to be gifted to a combination of enterprising/aggressive people (or a combo of both) and nuisance folks in India. Retired/VRS folks from Army especially sikhs and jats come to my mind for enterprise and aggression. I would also put UP and bihar folks, esp those who create nuisance for the localites and keep them occupied in petty battles while we focus on other aspects of the business war.

The first step has to be muscle ..serious business will come later, a decade if not a generation later...

we have let this cesspool continue for too long by being dharmic..nothing wrong by that..but now IMHO, all peaceful options had been exhausted (for me that happened in in 2008, after that i will never ever trust pakistan as a nation). If any of us trusts them then we are the fools not them. Not an inch to be given on ground or in negotiations...never ever...

ArjunPandit Ji is right. Most of the Kashmiri Pandits from new generation will not go back. Older gen probably yes.
Heck even I would not go back even though I can comfortable work from home forever except maybe own a property in Kashmir for emotional and patriotic reason. The valley no longer has any emotional vibes for me and folks of my generation.

Going back anyways means nothing if there are no economic opportunities or hope for a better future.
Anyways the absolute number of KP's is so low that even if 100% of them move back to Kashmir, it would hardly dent the muscle of KM's and Jehadis.
Add to the misery is the bias, mistrust, anger and downright resentment for being killed/raped/pushed out of their homes with threats, Relationship between KP's and KM's will never get normal in next1-2 generations.

Indian Army ups the ante! Calibre Escalation in response to Pakistan’s unprovoked ceasefire violations

excerpted from the article

Since the February attack this year, besides using heavy weapons against the Indian posts and civilian targets, Pakistan has also been using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Pakistan Army has been violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LOC) since Tuesday afternoon in various sectors by firing of small arms & shelling with mortars.
The Indian Army has confirmed that there has been a Calibre escalation (Artillery fire) in Tangdhar Sector, as there have been unprovoked ceasefire violations (CFV) from Pakistan side and infiltration attempts by the enemy in the Gurez sector since Tuesday.
Also, since midnight in the Nowshera sector, District Rajouri (J&K), there has been infiltration bid and the Indian Army’s response has caused heavy casualties on the enemy side.

on caliber escalation
What is Calibre Escalation?

Usually, the exact nature of the calibre used is Operational Specific or the sector or the post which is being targeted. Anything beyond small arms is calibre escalation.

According to a former army general, in the normal LOC firing the integral infantry weapons are used which include Light Machine Guns, Medium Machine Guns, and up to 81 mm mortars.

What is 81 mm mortar?

According to the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) the 81 mm mortar is a lightweight weapon and can be easily deployed.

Since early this year, there have been at least 78 times that there have been calibre escalation from Pakistan side hitting at the Indian post and civilian targets in which they have used heavy artillery and mortars.

When Pakistan attacks Indian posts using small and big weapons, then even the Indian Army starts escalating gradually and artillery gets incorporated with the infantry. Together, in coordination between artillery and the infantry the Indian Army normally deploy 120 mm mortars and 105 field guns, and 130mm guns.

Over 50 Chinese nationals working on a hydroelectric project in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were evacuated after skirmishes along the Line of Control with India, Pakistani authorities said on Wednesday.

could somebody savvy with images and maps, post a map of where this dam is being constructed. It is within the Pakistan occupied ares of J&K and nothing more than an illegal landgrab by the Pakis assisted by the chinese
The Chinese men were working on a dam being constructed in PoK along the confluence of the Neelam and Jhelum rivers when the firing pushed authorities to move the workers late on Tuesday

Lots of sporadic protests had broken out over a dam's waters being diverted away from PoK, not surprisingly anti-establishment slogans were raised and internet was suspended indefinitely. Amidst all this, lots of heavy arty in Neelam valley.

Gagan and others have tweeted the location with maps.
The dam is 3.5km from LOC.
Essentially it diverts the Neelum River into the Jhelum.

While this is going on Paks have massed irregulars/terrorists as last ditch to attack Amarnath Yatra.
25K CAPF being sent in addition to the 10K already sent.
So do get out and find the info.

Either we are living under a rock, or there is a deliberate attempt by GoI to censor any information coming out of the valley. Several companies of SSB and ITBP were airlifted into Srinagar this evening. Not sure if related but COAS, met with with the Governor today.

While a war is going on you want Burkha Dutt to get access?

This is NaMo govt that has seen the impact of loose press in conflict areas.

Sir no censoring of casualties but operations must necessarily be confidential. It was correctly mentioned that elements of press have worked against national interest. Lives have been lost.

I'm not asking for information, rather suggesting that GoI in a departure from its previous tricks of trickling bits and pieces to local press, has adopted a constrained approach. There seems to be more to the Neelum valley pounding than what is available in the public domain.

I'm more concerned with Modi/Shah finishing of the "Kashmir issue" than how much they tell me what they are up to.
I have no problem waiting for the big surprise as they do their job behind the scenes.

I have faith in Amit Shah that he knows what he is doing. He is a jingo, but a smart one.

Mehbooba Akka has a lot of time on her hands these days, being jobless and all, so she's on twitter trolling everyone posting flame-baits. The other day she was threatening Modi and Shah about 35A and 370 that if they dare to remove it, all hell will break loose.

This is a clear sign of how scared these people are. Once these bad laws are out, then Manchegowda from Mysore, Nedunchezhian from Sriperumbudur, Ambejogaikar from Chinchpokli can all buy property in J&K. It will take years maybe decades but enterprising people will move in change the Islamic Kashmiri nature of the state and make it "Indian".

Jammu lawyers oppose Art 35A - To file application to be party in apex court | Bar suspends 5 members

https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/jammu ... 11429.html

In the midst of a raging debate over Article 35A, Jammu lawyers on Thursday decided to approach the Supreme Court by filing an application for impleadment as one of the parties in the case.

The lawyers also resolved and decided to unanimously oppose the retention of Article 35A, saying “It was inserted in the Constitution of India by way of Presidential Order in the year 1954, by resorting to Article 370 of the Constitution of India, without following the Constitutional mandate of Article 368 of the Constitution of India which provides for amendment of the Constitution”.

and
“We disown and condemn the statement made by few members of J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBAJ) wherein they supported the retention of Article 35A in individual capacity, despite the fact that the Association, in a meeting of its General House on August 3 last year, had already resolved and taken a unanimous decision to oppose the retention of Article 35A,” advocate Abhinav Sharma, president of JKHCBAJ, said after chairing a meeting of the executive committee here.

Sharma said they had suspended five members of the association from its basic membership for making statements in support of Article 35A and it was unanimously decided “to intervene before the Supreme Court by filing an application for impleadment as one of the parties in the case”.

Why do we need massive deployment and IAF on operational alert for only abrogation of 35A. Something big is cooking.
There is no news on paki mobilization also

Any discussion on Kashmir, will only be with Pak: EAM. Though I prefer a stance Kashmir is India's internal issue ;) 8).

NC delegation calls on PM; request polls by year-end. Looks like the Kashmiri politicos have slowly started smelling the coffee. That their earlier days of holding the nation to ransom are long gone; slowly seems to be getting into their heads. If Mehbooba and Hurri-rats also come queuing up to see Modi that means screws are tightened further.

'Troop deployment in J&K based on internal situation'. A rumour is that GoI plans to celebrate Independence Day in a grand style in J&K this time. And that a gang of determined Jehadis are also now in the vicinity.

Rest assured that before all these people land up there would be a Malayali/Keralite who would have opened up a tea-shop there. 8) ;)
