boris arrived in the former "jewel in the crown" colony, hat in hand, especially after Jaishankar had trashed liz truss rather publicly and showed them their place on the global stage
It couldn't have been more unpalatable to the britshit deep state, when boris, uncustomarily, ended up going to gujarat all by himself
Globally, the sun has truly set for them
the britshits are muscling in into the QUAD, hoping for crumbs from India.
EU too is in a panic mode, trade treaty wise, lusting after the Indian market

Agree, this is our long lasting export. The downside is India pays for this talent and their further studies and the host country benefits for years if not decades from their lifelong output specially in high end work and R&D. With 1.4 billion people, perhaps we can afford this to some extent. If all this talent came back, we currently don't have the capacity and investments to benefit from their talent as much as their host countries do. Thats why I said we need to transition out of this model in future, not stop it completely today.titash wrote:There are some benefits to GMOT:Cyrano wrote:Agree, "global mobility of talent" I keep hearing often from our otherwise excellent MEA Jaishankar always sounded dissonant to me. We need to transition to "becoming a global magnet of talent" mentality in the next few years. When talented students or high skilled workers queue up in front of Indian consulates, we'd have truly arrived once again.
1) foreign exchange remittances (substantial)
2) the average Joe gets familiar with Indians, and develops a sense of their capabilities, their non aggressive demeanor, and gets familiar with their culture and perhaps some intermarriage etc.
3) Builds an economic dependency. No US company today will get anywhere without India based offshoring today. Most firms are too invested to decouple overnight

It would happen at some point., here the private sector has big role in bringing back that talent., developing infrastructure, R&D capabilities , Universities taking the lead in STEM research .. sustained growth will make this all happen

My view is that we will be earning back our investment with interest in the next 25-30 years. I am not a great fan of Mr. Sam Pitroda per see but he has a point when he advises Indian expats to not to go back to India unless they have enough funds so that they do not have to take up a job in India after they move back.Cyrano wrote: Agree, this is our long lasting export. Re: Indo-UK News & Discussions- June 2017
We got independence 75 years ago, but Swaraj has started coming on fairly recently. Our governance, laws and systems have largely remained the controlling and exploitative type the colonising British designed them to be. Our contribution was, instead of running the system to serve the island and its queen, we ran it to serve the politicians and the babudom.Monsieur Cyrano how do we transition out of this model. Appreciate a long term view.
Just back from India and there are aspect of our fabric that need deep societal change for some of what you say to happen.
If Indian Government at the Center and State level get relatively corruption free and stop being obstacles, Indian people will blossom into their full potential. Just see the huge change in the past 7/8 years a scam free, pro-India, pro entrepreneur Govt at the center has unleashed. If we stay that course and BJP (and hopefully other party) ruled states also get relatively corruption free and business friendly, our people will do the rest.
I'm very curious to get your view on what those aspects are, please post in the Political or other appropriate thread saar.Just back from India and there are aspect of our fabric that need deep societal change for some of what you say to happen.

The sheer perfidy of the Britshit rule in India and its transition to free Bharat is a subject that warrants deep study. The Brits stole pretty much everything from India. Newton with Apple falling on his head is a straight copy of Vaiseshika Sutra of Kanada Muni. Newton stole the entire Calculus, without elementary understanding. The Indian Constitution was effectively written in Columbia University by John Dewey. The National Anthem was sung for the first time in India on the second day of the Calcutta Conference of the Congress party in December 1911 a loyal welcome to King George the fifth.
Max Arthur Macauliffe, British ICS was instrumental in converting Guru Granth Sahib into an Abrahmic version from its initial Dharmic background.Vaiseshika Sutra of Kanada Muni:
वेगः निमित्तविशेषात कर्मणो जायते |Every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force.
वेगः निमित्तापेक्षात कर्मणो जायते नियतदिक क्रियाप्रबन्धहेतु |In an inertial reference frame, the vector sum of the forces F on an object is equal to the mass m of that object multiplied by the acceleration a of the object: F = ma
वेगः संयोगविशेषविरोधी |That if two objects A and B collide in an isolated system, the total momentum of the two objects before the collision is equal to the total momentum of the two objects after the collision

Bank of England warns of recession and says inflation will hit 10%
https://www.standard.co.uk/business/ban ... 98141.html
boris bhai needs Modi's India and, especially the business that he desperately hopes will come with the trade agreements
Inflation will top 10% by the end of the year, the highest rate since 1982, the Bank of England warned today.
It also said the UK risks sliding recession due to higher energy prices, as it presented one of the most negative outlooks many in the City can remember.
The Bank offered the glum assesment as it put up interest rates for the fourth time in a row.
Inflation is forecast to peak at 10%, up from a prior estimate of 8%, due to soaring energy and commodity prices that will deliver a historic hit to family incomes and company profits.
“Household disposable income is projected to fall in 2022 by the second largest amount since records began in 1964,” the Bank said in its May Monetary Policy Report.
Policymakers warned company profits would be squeezed and unemployment was likely to climb to 5.5% in the coming years. At best, economic growth will flat line in the years ahead. The Bank expects the economy to shrink by 0.25% next year.
Kallum Pickering at Berenberg said: “If we are unlucky, the UK is already in the early stage of a recession.”
The Bank of England said there was little it could do to prevent the growth crunch and its job was to focus on inflation.
Rates today went from 0.75% to 1%, a 13-year high.
Three of the nine strong Monetary Policy Committee -- Jonathan Haskell, Michael Saunders and Catherine Mann – voted to raise rates even faster to 1.25%.
Yael Selfin, Chief Economist at KPMG UK, said: “Weakening economic growth makes it harder for the Bank to orchestrate a smooth return of inflation to target, with the risk that a steep rise in rates triggers an unnecessary recession just as price pressures ease.
“A tight labour market will be a key concern for the MPC this year, as it could translate into further pressures on pay.”
In March, UK inflation hit a 30-year high of 7% as food and energy prices jump.
Many in the City think the Bank was too slow to act on rates, not beginning to move them up from crisis-level lows of 0.1% until December.
The Bank is supposed to hit an inflation target of 2%, but was initially sanguine about exceeding that, insisting inflation would pass by the summer. That now seems unlikely.

The British did so in India and Sri Lanka too. As proudly reported by an ex-officer of the British Army,
“We used to have a great sport in India going out after crocodiles with Hindu babies as bait.”
These reptiles would be tempted to devour “a delicate morsel of a brown baby.”

Vuvekananda said that missionaries to India came back and told the Americans that Hindus fed their babies to crocodiles. In his public speeches, reporters asked Vivekananda about it and he had to debunk this outrageous story repeatedly, as something completely manufactured.g.sarkar wrote:I vaguely remember I came across this (crocodile and babies) in the writings of Swami Vivekananda, when he was in the US.

I have to believe that if something like this is true there would be reports of similar behavior by the Brits in Africa as well.

If I remember correctly, he said as a baby he was thrown to a crocodile too. But as he was fat and ugly the crocodile left him alone. The reporter realized that the Swami was pulling his leg and making fun, but there was nothing he could say.SriKumar wrote:Vivekananda said that missionaries to India came back and told the Americans that Hindus fed their babies to crocodiles. The Swami was great with repartee. On being asked by a reporter in Massachusetts, if Hindus burned widows, he said no, and added, neither do they burn witches. This was near Salem, that was famous for witch trials (1690s) where about 20 women were declared to be witches and executed, some were burned alive, and some were tortured to extract confession. This shut the reporter from asking such questions.

British Huntsmen Used To Rent Sri Lankan Babies for Crocodile Bait
A native baby’s life value was less than a dollar
From 1796 to 1948, the island of Sri Lanka, formerly called Ceylon, was under the British Empire’s ruling. During the nineteenth century, news reports circulated in Great Britain about a famous sport that European huntsmen could get addicted to in the South Asia region. That sport was crocodile hunting.
It became a famous sport as crocodile skin during that era became an in-demand raw material for producing accessories. However, what made this sport extremely troubling was the reports that native babies were used to lure these dangerous crocodiles.
