Ok so that was that. The frumpy descendent of the house that committed 1857 and other genocidal atrocities against India is gone.

They have the right person in No 10 to do the Job! Before she became a Conservative, the young (teenage) Liz Truss was a Liberal Democrat. There is a video on the BBC website of a young Liz Truss saying " We must abolish the Royal Family" in a speech to the Annual Conference of the Liberal Democrats. As a student she joined the Conservatives and moved to the right; she does not deny the accuracy of the video, but says that she has changed her mind.Cyrano wrote:Oh he was referring to the geriatric queen and her family of inbred Nazis and pedophiles wining, dining and enjoying previleges coming from a few centuries of colonial enslavement and exploitation.

She has a habit of changing her mind, she used to say "No Handouts" but now she is talking of spending £100 billion bailing out UK utility consumers. Without this she has virtually no chance of surviving.

I don't care if the monarchy continues in Britain as long as it becomes as relevant as the Sultan of Brunei or King of Malaysia. Better still King of Eswatini or Lesotho. For now King of Belgium type relevancy is good enough.

She died the same day on which another vestige of colonialism Rajpath (Kingsway) died and was renamed to Kartavyapath (08-09-22). Easy mnemonic to remember the date.

Monarchy in UK is great for tourism. It sells well. Scots May jump up and down from time to time. Most of worlds gossip/ women magazine earn their bread and butter by putting glossy pics of Royal family. Even latest king was a preferred fool comedian for people like me. Believe me he is no better then our own pappu.

That is what is expected from statesmen and politicians. I am sure most of us agree with her views. But the Queen was just a figurehead. The least she could have done is to apologize on her country's behalf when she visited Jalianwala Bagh. Instead she let the stupid consort of hers question the veracity of the number of victims who were massacred. He said he was in the navy with the son of O'Dyer and so he knows. Like son of that SOB is more honorable than the Government/Trust that put up the signs.
Re: Indo-UK News & Discussions- June 2017
QE2 was doing a golden cage job from which its not easy to resign but a few missteps could get her deposed, along with her joint family. Her employer rules in her name and exploits weaker nations at every opportunity without shame. She probably had little say in the matter, her own privileges and lifestyle depended on it. She was employed to keep the mystery of "royalty" alive for the unwashed masses who all dream of enjoying ill gotten wealth and unearned respect; only to wake up to drudgery and bad weather everyday, and who can break up the "United Kingdom" in a fit of rage if they cant get enough beer or fish n chips. Now and then the curtain of royal mystery was sparingly raised for a refractory foreign head of state, with charm and noblesse oblige of course, at the Govt's request and for its unquestionable ends. QE2 accepted, complied, and played along for the sake of preserving the inconspicuous consumption of her inbred, ungrateful family. Nothing more.
She is gone, time to move on...

Liz Truss, an unpopular leader for a troubled Britain
Ishaan Tharoor, September 6, 2022
.....
Truss comes to power not via general election but after winning the majority of votes in a Conservative Party leadership election decided by fewer than 200,000 dues-paying Tory activists. Her main rival, former Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, was more popular among sitting Conservative lawmakers in Parliament. Broader public opinion polls show the opposition Labour Party with its strongest lead in a decade. A majority of Britons, meanwhile, believe Truss will make a “poor” or “terrible” prime minister, and only a quarter consider her an improvement from Boris Johnson, her controversial and polarizing predecessor.
Truss will struggle to muster Johnson’s irrepressible — or delusional, critics would contend — optimism. Darkened skies already hang low over her nascent premiership. “In addition to the war in Ukraine and the fallout of Brexit, the new prime minister will inherit a vast range of economic and political problems,” my colleagues explained. “The Bank of England predicts Britain will suffer through protracted recession, beginning as early as October. Inflation already stands at 10 percent, with economists warning that 15 percent is possible.”
There’s an impending cascade of woes: A mammoth cost-of-living crisis is driving a historic drop in living standards. According to some estimates, two-thirds of British households may face “fuel poverty” by the end of the year, struggling to pay for the surging costs of heating their homes. Across various sectors of the economy, industrial action is picking up, with strikes shutting down train services, garbage collection and the operation of ports.
The country that Truss will now lead is unquestionably diminished. Most analyses of the impact of Brexit find that Britain’s departure from the European Union has dented its economy, added to its supply chain headaches and hurt its trading prospects. An analysis published last month by Saxo Bank warned investors that Britain is “more and more looking like an emerging market country” and won’t have the ability to manage “an easy escape” from a deep recession.
Truss campaigned for her party’s leadership on a platform pandering to the Tories’ hard core. She sees a path out of Britain’s problems by slashing taxes and boosting fracking and nuclear energy. “We will break with the same old tax and spend approach by focusing on growth and investment,” she wrote for the Telegraph. While likely welcomed by many Tories who internally elected her, such rhetoric is less convincing to the general public that has seen the Conservatives in power for 12 years.
“Truss’s Britain will be governed by policies lifted from cliched Daily Mail headlines,” wrote leftist commentator Owen Jones in the Guardian. “All the bêtes noires of saloon-bar reactionaries from the past 20 years will be slaughtered, and the resulting anguish from those effete metropolitan lefties obsessed with mere trivialities such as avoiding mass impoverishment and the destruction of the planet will give the Tory faithful their kicks.”
“Economists … have been skeptical about her confidence that all it will take is a few tax cuts to put a tiger back in the national tank,” noted Sam Leith for the right-leaning Spectator, in a piece that wondered whether Truss would be a “Tory Jeremy Corbyn,” a nod to the former left-wing Labour leader whose radical politics swept him to the top role in his party but ultimately hurt Labour on the national stage.

There is already a sense of buyer's remorse in the UK. It is quite possible that the Labour will win the next election. It is certain that Bartania will be diminished in the coming years. Perhaps it is better that RS has a chance to regroup and plan his next moves. His loss to LT may be a blessing in disguise.

The blood jewelry
This is a thread about the Jewels worn by Queen Elizabeth II. They include the crown Jewels.
The queen owned 23,000 jewels of which more than 19,000 originate from India. ....Until 1725, all of world's diamonds came only from one country: India.
India was the only natural home of diamonds. India's proverbial riches were famed and desired throughout the world

Climate of political correctness aside, he is correct. Braverman for example while having Indian origin and looking brown, has said that she is a huge supporter and believer in the British Empire/Imperialism.
And the word coconut is I think not commonly used as a racist term by whites, it is used mainly by brown people to describe Uncle Tom types.

While a weakening pound underscores the United Kingdom's current economic problems, a full-blown financial crisis remains unlikely in the short-to-medium term, as the U.K. currency's depreciation will not immediately worsen government debt dynamics -- thereby buying time for a more gradual macroeconomic adjustment. The U.K. pound's value relative to the U.S. dollar fell to a 37-year low on Sept. 4, driven by a combination of high energy prices, a worsening underlying fiscal deficit and high government debt levels. The United Kingdom's dependence on foreign capital inflows makes its currency more vulnerable to Ukraine-related global price shocks than those of other advanced countries, with inflation in the U.K. reaching a 40-year high of over 10% in July.

The home country feels like you care (or care enough) which is always good for business and defense deals
To the best of my knowledge, even Indians who are very aware of the colonial past are not antagonistic towards the British. Forgive, Do Not Forget, but Move On
Also QE2’s father KG VI passed on after Independence. So technically, she bears little to no responsibility

It is normal diplomacy. A Head of State died, so other Heads of States are invited. And are expected to attend unless there is absolutely critical (like an election). It is not courteous to either not invite or to ignore.
Attending a funeral is a good networking event for the diplomats of all countries. Lots of side deals can be done.
Specifically with UK, it doesn't hurt to make the right noises diplomatically. For instance, we need an FTA with them (always good to have FTAs with rich countries with high per capita income and also high cost of living - will be very good for our economy)
Lastly, a snarky comment paraphrased from Yes Minister ... "to make sure she's dead"
