These companies have become what they are due to merit, if they want to get involved in politics they are free to do so. I am not advocating any discrimination, but when it comes victimization, its always going to be a blame game in almost all cases.
Unfortunately we have to see this play out, but the US companies will realize how dangerous the NGOs they fund are

Indian defence attaché now has unescorted access to Pentagon: US Air Force
Such a move is aligned with the trust and cooperation that we share with India, US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said on at a reception hosted by India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu at India House on Independence Day on Monday.
“As of today, the Indian (defense) attaché team now has unescorted access in the Pentagon which is commencement with our close relationship with India’s status as a major defense partner,” Kendall said.
“And if you don't think unescorted access to the Pentagon is a big deal, I can't get into the Pentagon without an escort,” he said.
The Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Department of Defense, is considered one of the most difficult places to get access. Even American citizens have no access to the building without high-level security clearances.
Kendall, who worked on India issues during the Obama administration, said it was a desire then to strengthen the bonds in the national security area.
“It turns out that India is the country with whom we do more joint exercises than any other country, have a long close relationship and we've been able to build it up and strengthen it over the years as we work together for integrated deterrence in the region and around the world,” he said.
The Defense Trade and Technology Initiative, he said, has grown over the years and is continuing to this day.
“We recently just a year ago started a new cooperative programme for unmanned aerial vehicles. We've been able to share technology and work together in any number of programs. So it's been a remarkable journey that I know will continue,” he said.
Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
Hope we don't reciprocate such access in a spirit of partnership.
Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
This is a huge step from USA. Major Defense Partner is becoming reality.

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
Access is already taken by moles in the system. My skepticism is more towards the partnership and how it benefits India. By the close embrace, we expose our inner workings which in previous instances have worked unfavorably. You remember the Klintonite handling of evidence we gave against western neighbor and how they conveniently lost it. With the close embrace, I am not discounting some info leaking to the G2 relationship. This might affect our "stand-up" against any aggression.Cyrano wrote:Hope we don't reciprocate such access in a spirit of partnership.

No. It is not a big deal. The Pentagon is mostly administrative for the services and is not an operational facility. Most federal contractors roam the hallways of the Pentagon, and now so can the Indian defence attaché. So what?Amber G. wrote:This is a huge step from USA. SCIF areas are already out of access, so there is nothing that is gained, unless the Indian defence attaché and his staff are golf buddies with US military officers and contractors.

India To Tell US That Russia Oil Price Cap Needs Consensus: Report
New Delhi: India will seek broader consensus before it supports US-led efforts to cap the price of Russian oil, which American officials are expected to push for this week when they travel to Mumbai and New Delhi.
India is hesitant to join the plan unless a consensus is reached with all buyers, according to people familiar with the matter, asking not to be identified because the deliberations aren't public.
That message will likely be conveyed to US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo and his team at meetings with government officials and company executives from Wednesday to Friday. His boss, Janet Yellen, and the department have led efforts to get allies on board the price cap idea, which they anticipate will starve Russia of revenues that fund its invasion of Ukraine without taking oil off the market and triggering a price spike.
The effectiveness of an oil-price cap could hinge on commitments from key customers such as China and India, which have boosted oil purchases from Russia after most buyers shunned its barrels following the invasion of Ukraine.
Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
How exactly is this oil price cap expected to work?
I suspect more than controlling oil price which is in the hands of OPEC+ this initiative is aimed at preserving oil trade is $$$ and not let oil trade in other currencies take root.
The fact that Janet is pushing this strongly makes me suspect that the above is the main motivation.

It's an interesting piece.
It appears to have been written with an Indian point of view.
Not sure, if I agree with the Twitter users reaction to his argument about the strength of the PRC. As I can see both sides to the argument.
The only fly in the ointment WRT PRC is the absence of brains in Beijing. That they have turned India into an enemy. Along with doing everything possible to keep India an enemy.
I also understand why US cannot be allowed to continue as the unchecked super power. It's too dangerous for Indian interests.
I want to find a way to get US to fight with PRC. Before PRC and India get into an active military conflict.

US approves $450 million military sales to Pakistan
The move is aimed at providing services to sustain Pakistan’s F-16 fighters jets
News Desk, 8 Sep, 2022
The United States has approved a potential $450 million sale to provide Pakistan with services to sustain its fleet of F-16 fighter jets, the Pentagon said, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
"The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Pakistan of F-16 Case for Sustainment and related equipment for an estimated cost of $450 million," the Pentagon said in a press release on Wednesday.
The package includes US government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics services to support Pakistan's F-16 fleet, the release said.
This sale does not provide Pakistan with any new capabilities, weapons, or munitions, the release said.
The Pentagon underscored that this sale is critical for retaining Pakistan's interoperability with US and partner forces in ongoing counterterrorism efforts and in preparation for future contingency operations.
The principal contractor will be Lockheed Martin Corp(LMT.N), the Pentagon said. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale.
The Government of Pakistan has requested to consolidate prior F-16 sustainment and support cases to support the Pakistan Air Force F-16 fleet by reducing duplicate case activities and adding additional continued support elements.

Do not underestimate Sleepy Joe. Since Pakistan does not have $450 million, and in principle never repays any loans to the Khan, this is just a donation. India should never purchase fighters from them.

I do not think Khan has any hope of selling F-18 to India anymore. But this gives some hope to Pakistan that Happy Days will be here again, Khuda meherban to gadha pahelwan. Also, one of the calculations of Sugar Land has been that India will ultimately never agree to a loss of sovereignty by continuing with the Quad. This will support that theory and challenge India to subordinate itself under the US or be left alone in a future confrontation with the lizard. Not a bad return for $450 million.

Biden administration approves upgrade of Pakistan’s F-16 fighter aircraft in $450-million deal
Pentagon said the proposed sale “greatly improves Pakistan’s ability to support counterterrorism operations through its robust air-to-ground capability”.
SNEHESH ALEX PHILIP, 8 September, 2022
New Delhi: The Biden administration in the US has approved the potential sale of sustainment and related equipment for the upgrade of Pakistan’s F-16 fighter aircraft fleet, in a deal valued at up to $450 million, the Pentagon said in a statement.
The deal, however, will not include “any new capabilities, weapons, or munitions” for the aircraft which is Pakistan’s Air Force’s main fighter, even though they have the JF-17s in larger numbers.
In 2019, Pakistan had used the same aircraft to target India after the Balakot strike and used American supplied AIM-120 C-5 AMRAAM (Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile), to shoot down then Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman’s MiG 21 Bison.
These missiles had higher capability than that of the medium range R-77 used by the Su-30 MKI and the MICA used by the Mirages of the Indian Air Force at that time.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying the US Congress of the possible sale Wednesday after Pakistan requested to consolidate prior F-16 sustainment and support cases to support keep up the Pakistan Air Force’s F-16 fleet.
Included in the upgrade are US government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics services for follow-on support of Pakistan’s F-16 fleet. It also includes modifications and support of aircraft and engine hardware and software as well as repair and return of the jets and engine spares, classified and unclassified software and software support among others.
The Pentagon statement added that this proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by allowing Pakistan to “retain interoperability with US and partner forces” in ongoing counterterrorism efforts and in preparation for future contingency operations.
It also said that the proposed sale will continue the sustainment of the country’s F-16 fleet, which “greatly improves Pakistan’s ability to support counterterrorism operations through its robust air-to-ground capability”.
History of Pakistan’s F-16s journey
The upgrade is part of US military’s assistance to Pakistan under a policy in which it sold and upgraded F-16s since the 1980s despite the country’s open support to the Taliban and the Haqqani network and use of terrorism as a state policy against India.
It was in 1981 when the US agreed to sell the F-16 jets to Pakistan in the aftermath of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
The idea was to use these aircraft to engage the Soviet and Afghan jets that periodically crossed the border to bomb mujahideen training camps. Foreign policy and national security website War on the Rocks reported that between 1986 and 1990, Pakistani F-16s shot down at least 10 Afghan and Soviet jets, helicopters, and transport planes.

India Opts Out of Trade Talks With US-Led Indo-Pacific Group
IPEF talks reach consensus on three other areas of negotiation
New Delhi has been reluctant to ease access to its markets
Eric Martin, September 9, 2022
India opted out of trade talks with a US-led group of Asian nations, again avoiding easing access to its markets via a multi-country deal, while moving ahead with the others in areas including supply chains and clean energy.
The South Asian nation was the only participant in the 14-nation Indo-Pacific Economy Framework that didn’t sign on to the group’s negotiation track on trade, according to statements released after two days of meetings in Los Angeles.
Known as IPEF, the initiative is an effort by President Joe Biden’s administration to deepen ties with Asian nations through a range of issues including trade, climate change, supply chains and taxation. It’s also among US levers to counter China’s rising influence, although US officials have stressed that they aren’t asking partners to choose between Washington and Beijing.
India made a similar move in 2019, when it decided to exit talks on the China-backed the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, the world’s largest regional free-trade agreement that includes nearly a third of global population and gross domestic product.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the time that he pulled out over concerns about how RCEP would affect the livelihoods of Indians, particularly the most vulnerable.

Explained: What is the new Indo-Pacific Economic Framework that India is part of?
United States president Joe Biden launched a new Asia-Pacific trade initiative Monday in Tokyo, with 13 countries including India and Japan. The bloc is intended to offer US allies an alternative to China’s growing commercial presence in the region
FP Explainers, May 23, 2022
United States president Joe Biden faced a dilemma on trade in Asia: He couldn’t just rejoin the Trans-Pacific Partnership that his predecessor had pulled the US out of in 2017. Many related trade deals, regardless of their content, had become politically toxic for US voters, who associated them with job losses.
So Biden came up with a replacement. During Biden’s visit to Tokyo, the US on Monday announced the countries that are joining the new Indo-Pacific Economic Framework. In the tradition of trade deals, it’s best known by its initials: IPEF. (Pronounced EYE-pef.)
Which are the countries joining IPEF?
Thirteen countries including US, India, and Japan are part of the trade initiative. Others on the starting list of members are Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
Together, the participants account for about 40 percent of global GDP and “there are other countries that could conceivably join us,” Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, told reporters.
What would IPEF do?
Biden formally unveiled the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity, or IPEF, on his second day in Japan, where he held talks with Japan prime minister Fumio Kishida ahead of a regional Quad summit on Tuesday.
“I believe we’ll win the competition of the 21st century together,” he said at the launch, attended in person by Kishida and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and virtually by representatives from the other countries.
Unlike traditional trade blocs, there is no plan for IPEF members to negotiate tariffs and ease market access – a tool that has become increasingly unpalatable to US voters fearful of seeing homegrown manufacturing undermined.
Instead, the programme foresees integrating partners through agreed standards in four main areas: the digital economy, supply chains, clean energy infrastructure and anti-corruption measures.

India upset at US F-16 support to Pak as reward for ammo supply to Ukraine
Pakistan and US watchers believe that the F-16 support has been given to Rawalpindi because of the following reasons:
· Gen Bajwa has been instrumental in supplying ammunition in support of Ukraine’s war effort against Pakistan’s newfound ally Russia using British aircraft.
· It is also a reward for the Pakistan Army led by Gen Bajwa for remaining neutral during the ouster of former PM Imran Khan Niazi, who once was weaponized by the same Army Chief to get rid of Nawaz Sharif in the last general elections. Niazi was in Moscow and met ally Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, the day the Red Army invaded Ukraine.
· It is also US recognition for Gen Bajwa’s efforts to lower down temperatures with India on the Line of Control (LoC) with guns falling silent on the borders.
Pakistan watchers say that US support for the F-16 program is not going to be the only sop for Rawalpindi as grounds are being prepared to get Islamabad off the FATF grey list. This is quite evident from the Pakistani ploy of asking the Taliban regime to locate and arrest JeM’s super terrorist Masood Azhar in Afghanistan. This move is to accede to FATF demands that Pakistan act against Azhar and his terror factory, which is based in Bahawalpur in Punjab. The new narrative is being deliberately orchestrated to show that Azhar has relocated to Kunar province of Afghanistan after the Taliban occupied Kabul on August 15, 2021.

US in talks with India about rethinking reliance on Russian arms and energy
The United States is in “deep” talks with India over its reliance on Russian arms and energy, a US State Department official said Tuesday, in a development that could further isolate Moscow on the international stage.
Russia “is no longer a reliable weapons supplier” and Indian representatives are “coming to understand that there could be real benefits for them (in finding other markets),” the official told reporters in New York.
“India is heavily, heavily dependent on Russia, and that’s something that they did to themselves over some 40 years: first their military and then their energy dependence,” the official said. “So we have been in deep conversation with India about the fact that we want to help them have options to diversify here.”
CNN has contacted India’s Ministry of External Affairs, but did not receive a response.

Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
The state dept is desperately trying to spin Modi's statement as a big deviation from previous tone on the topic and hence a setback to Putin. It is in fact a very mild statement and there is no criticism of Russia if you read what was actually said.
Is this criticism, hainji?“I know that today’s era is not of war and we have talked to you many times over the phone on the subject that democracy and diplomacy and dialogue are all these things that touch the world,” Modi told Putin.
Re: India-US relations: News and Discussions IV
Better that Russia and America compete to spin our leader's statements, than the other way around (which was the way it was for about 70 years).
