Said so decades ago.Saudi money funded the covert Paki N- programme.China provided the technical knowhow, along with its chum NoKo and Pak paid for the favours by building part of its arsenal for the Saudis to be tipped onto Chin supplied DF series of missiles.Pak depends so much on Saudi covert funding that it cannot hold out forever the Saudi demand for troops.

Is Saudi Arabia on way to become a Nuclear Power

WASHINGTON *– Saudi Arabia is in talks with American nuclear firms to enter the nuclear power business and erect as many as 16 nuclear reactors to purportedly only generate electricity over 25 years, a report said.*According to the report carried by the New York Times on Sunday, the Saudis insist the reactors would be used only to generate energy for domestic purposes, so they can rely on their huge reserves of oil to generate income from overseas.

IMO, POTUS cum USA wants to recycle back the US Dollar oil export "loot" accumulated by Saudia . What better way than to entice Saudia to buy these new toys. Same thing was done in the 70's. Hope this does not come to bite the US back

Paki Newspaper Not Impressed WithCosmetic Saudi Reforms

Saudi Arabia reforms

SAUDI Arabia, custodian of the most sacred sites of Islam and the Arab world’s most important economy, has been experiencing rapid changes over the past few years, particularly since the death of King Abdullah in 2015. These changes encompass domestic issues, such as increased rights for women and more relaxed social norms, as well as external postures, most notably a more muscular foreign policy emanating from Riyadh. The driving force behind the kingdom’s rapid changes is Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, an ambitious royal who has swept aside potential challengers and power centres with stunning speed.
Last year, the prince had rounded up a number of royals as well as leading business magnates to probe them for ‘corruption’; most of the detainees have only recently been released. Another shake-up was orchestrated late on Monday with the government sending the military’s chief of staff, as well as a number of other senior generals packing, while changes were also made in political offices. These measures were taken to consolidate his hold and "extracted" some much needed funds from the Saudi Rich on pretext of corruption !
Perhaps the change in the military’s top brass reflects frustration over the Yemen war — a war the crown prince has been instrumental in launching and overseeing as defence minister. However, after nearly three years of hostilities, the Riyadh-led coalition is far from defeating the Houthis. Raheel not up to the job
In the social sphere, the prince has lifted the ban on women driving, while a recent report also said that women could join the military. Moreover, Riyadh and Jeddah have of late been serenaded by jazz musicians, opera artists and rappers, as the government plans to pump millions of riyals into promoting entertainment activities. Too little too late IMO !
Perhaps only a year ago, such entertainment activities would have been hard to imagine. The relaxation of social norms and promotion of women’s rights are welcome. For too long, Saudi Arabia’s moral compass has been in the hands of a group of ultra-conservative clerics who have clamped down on all things fun. However, greater social freedoms must be accompanied by more political freedoms. Allowing song and dance while crushing dissent does not indicate a progressive direction. He has to make sure that the Wahabis do not revolt !
The crown prince must realise that an open, modern society cannot be built unless people have the freedom to speak their mind and criticise their government. :D

"New" Saudi Image And Reality Are Two Different Things According To This BBC Report !
Saudi Arabia: Has the rate of executions doubled?

Claim: In the past six months, the rate of executions in Saudi Arabia has doubled.Reality Check verdict: Emily Thornberry's office clarified to BBC Reality Check that she meant the past eight months, not six months. Saudi Arabia does not release official statistics on the number of executions it carries out. However, her figures are broadly correct, according to prominent human rights organisations.
Between July 2017 and February 2018, Reprieve says, there were 133 executions in Saudi Arabia (on average 16.6 a month), compared with 67 between October 2016 and May 2017 (on average 8.4 a month).
In June 2017, most of which was in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the organisation found no reports of executions. ll: June scheduled executions postponed to July !
Based on these figures, globally Saudi Arabia ranks third highest in the world, behind China and Iran.
A researcher for Human Rights Watch said that the lack of transparency from the Saudi authorities made it "hard to find a pattern to it all".Saudi Arabia's record on human rights has come under scrutiny during the crown prince's visit, with the leader of the opposition, Jeremy Corbyn, challenging Theresa May on it during Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday. The prime minister said she would be raising human rights issues with the crown prince.Reality Check contacted the Saudi Arabian embassy in London for comment but had not received a reply at the time of publication. In this case,a  no reply is "good publicity"

Belgium takes back Brussels' Grand Mosque from Saudi government
Belgium is taking back control of the Grand Mosque of Brussels by terminating Saudi Arabia’s lease of the building with immediate effect over concerns it promotes radicalism, the government said on Friday.
...
“The concession will be terminated immediately ... in order to put an end to foreign interference in the way Islam is taught in Belgium,” the Belgian government said in a statement.
...
Belgium leased the Grand Mosque to Riyadh in 1969, giving Saudi-backed imams access to a growing Muslim immigrant community, mostly from Morocco and Turkey, in return for cheaper oil for its industry.
...
Geens and other Belgian leaders couched the move as a way to promote a “European Islam” better aligned with their values - a familiar refrain across Europe...

Cross posting from the Turkey thread.

Turkey's semi official paper wants 5 million `Army of Islam' to use against Israel.

http://mobile.wnd.com/2018/03/army-of-i ... -military/

had opined earlier that this was what would happen, i.e., that when the dust settled down in West Asia, the winner of the regional conflicts would lead the `Army of Islam' (in whatever form) against Israel. The existence of the infidel occupying the holy land will never be tolerated.

For those who appreciate history, this is precisely what happened during the Crusades. The Crusaders would keep allying with the weaker Muslim states until the weaker Muslim states fell under the stronger Muslim state. And then the entire `Army of Islam' turned on the Crusaders. Of course, it is too early to predict the outcome this time, but the Israelis will come under serious attack sooner rather than later.

Fortunately the terms "Army of Islam" and "serious attack on Israel" seem to be mutually exclusive. Turkey is trying for credibility after the ISIS disaster, and the creation of the Kurdish state. Turkey is one battle disaster away from collapse, IMO, and the Kurds-SAA-Russians-Eyeranians will sooner or later align to deliver that.

Jogendranath had made common cause with the Muslim League in their demand[citation needed] for Pakistan, hoping that the Scheduled Castes would be benefited from it and joined the first cabinet in Pakistan as the Minister of Law and Labour. He migrated to India a few years after partition[4] after submitting his resignation to Liaquat Ali Khan, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, citing the perceived anti-Hindu bias of Pakistani administration.

While the Namasudra community was being courted by the Hindu Mahasabha, and politics in the province was dominated by the oppressed Dalit and Muslim people, Mandal saw a distinction between communal affairs and political disputes involving the INC and ML. When rioting broke out in 1946, he traveled around East Bengal to urge Dalit people not to participate in violence against Muslims. He argued that the Dalits were being used as pawns by caste Hindus of the INC in their dispute with the ML.[7]

Following the partition of British India on 15 August 1947, Mandal became a member and temporary chairman of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan, and agreed to serve as the new state's first Minister for Law and Labour – becoming the highest-ranking Hindu member of the government.[citation needed] From 1947 to 1950 he lived in the port city of Karachi, the then capital of Pakistan.

In 1950, Mandal came back to India after submitting his resignation to Liaquat Ali Khan, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, citing the perceived anti-Hindu bias of Pakistani administration. He mentioned incidents related to social injustice and biased attitude towards non-Muslim minorities in his resignation letter.

The situation India today faces is far worse than what Israel or the West are facing. Yet much of the West is complicit with the Secular forces within India in the common aim of a post Hindu India.

We are probably far more in danger and should not be advising others in safer positions.

turkey is the pakistan of the bosporus. they will cavort with israel in the morning and islamist kabila in the afternoon, keeping both happy. they have no intention of ever getting into a fight with israel, too clever for that.

islamist energies have been redirected from internal fights to external plunder in north syria. that will keep them busy for some time. the kurds folded in Efrin and ran away, but will fight much harder if erdogan makes a play for their core pride lands of manbij to jarablous belt .... PKK has seasoned fighters. and the syrians will deftly arm them to keep erdogan in check.

The Houthi mijjiles performed about as well as SCUDS do and flew wide: but KSA's PATRIOTS? Ah! there's another story. That is what did all the damage, apparently.
The einsteinullahs fired the Patriots so that they / their pieces fell down on populated civilian areas. The destroyed home doesn't look like the vaunted luxury villas of KSA, instead it looks like any poor city-dweller's tiny apartment.

The Saudi-funded spread of Wahhabism began as a result of Western countries asking Riyadh to help counter the Soviet Union during the Cold War, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told the Washington Post.
Speaking to the paper, bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia's Western allies urged the country to invest in mosques and madrassas overseas during the Cold War, in an effort to prevent encroachment in Muslim countries by the Soviet Union.

US President Donald Trump holds a chart of military hardware sales as he welcomes Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, March 20, 2018 / Jonathan Ernst3yrs of civilian deaths in Yemen don’t hold US & allies back from selling arms to Saudis – Amnesty
He added that successive Saudi governments had lost track of that effort, saying "we have to get it all back." Bin Salman also said that funding now comes mostly from Saudi-based "foundations," rather than from the government.

The crown prince’s 75-minute interview with the Washington Post took place on March 22, the final day of his US tour. Another topic of discussion included a previous claim by US media that bin Salman had said that he had White House senior adviser Jared Kushner "in his pocket."

Bin Salman denied reports that when he and Kushner – who is also Donald Trump's son-in-law – met in Riyadh in October, he had sought or received a greenlight from Kushner for the massive crackdown on alleged corruption which led to widespread arrests in the kingdom shortly afterwards. According to bin Salman, the arrests were a domestic issue and had been in the works for years.

He said it would be "really insane" for him to trade classified information with Kushner, or to try to use him to advance Saudi interests within the Trump administration. He stated that their relationship was within a normal governmental context, but did acknowledge that he and Kushner "work together as friends, more than partners." He stated that he also had good relationships with Vice President Mike Pence and others within the White House.

The crown prince also spoke about the war in Yemen, where a Saudi-led coalition continues to launch a bombing campaign against Houthi rebels in an attempt to reinstate ousted Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi as president. The conflict has killed thousands, displaced many more, driven the country to the brink of famine, and led to a major cholera outbreak.

Although the coalition has been accused of a large number of civilian deaths and disregard for civilian lives - an accusation which Riyadh denies - the crown prince said his country has not passed up "any opportunity" to improve the humanitarian situation in the country. “There are not good options and bad options. The options are between bad and worse,” he said.

The interview with the crown prince was initially held off the record. However, the Saudi embassy later agreed to led the Washington Post publish specific portions of the meeting.

Macron Show "Bare Naked Ladies " To MBS At Louvre Museum

Macron shows bare-breasted Liberty to Saudi prince at Louvre

PARIS: French President Emmanuel Macron likes to pepper his diplomacy with symbolism and gestures. By taking Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for a tour of the Louvre, was he making a point about political freedom?Macron spent an hour on Sunday night taking his Saudi visitor around one of the highlights of the current Paris cultural diary: a new exhibition by the revolutionary 19th-century French painter Eugene Delacroix
The two men later dined together at a restaurant at the museum, spending two hours in talks that were expected to have covered wars and crises in the Middle East, as well as sources of friction between the leaders."The president wanted to host him for a private dinner at the Louvre, a top French cultural destination, on the occasion of the launch of the Delacroix exhibition," an aide to Macron told reporters on Monday. What goes on behind the 4 walls of the Museum stays within the four walls  And hope the French Fare served at the restaurant was Sharia compliant and did not include jambon (ham ) and cuisses de grenouille ( fancy name for frog legs!)
A source in the Saudi delegation said the visit was proposed by Macron´s office after Prince Mohammed cancelled a proposed trip to Marseille for a different cultural event. The tour of the Louvre chimed with one of the main themes of his three-day trip to France, the source added, which is increasing cultural cooperation between the two countries that will see them work on a new Saudi orchestra and opera. Is MBS over doing this "Saudi liberalization" thingy

Saudi to create a huge water channel at Saudi-Qtr border cutting into land which will likely convert Qatar into an island. It will also dispose nuclear waste in this area and station army on the Eastern side of channel (!). While plan sounds like Mexican wall, there is possibility that a water channel will actually prevent Qtr from ground invasion and make it more secure

Saudi waterway to turn Qatar into island http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/qatar/sau ... -1.2202215

Qatar, a peninsular country, could be turned into an island if a plan by Gulf investors to dig a 60 kilometre-long water canal alongside the border with Qatar goes ahead.

The planned canal would stretch from Salwa to Khor Al Adeed would be 200 metres wide and 15 to 20 metres deep, allowing ships up to 295 metres long and 33 wide to navigate it, Saudi news site Sabq reported.
Several resorts with private beaches large hotels in Salwa, Sakak, Khor Al Adeed and two in Ras Abu Qamees are also being planned.
Seaports will be built in Salwa and in Aqlat Al Zawayed and will complement the one in Ras Abu Qamees.
Marinas for yachts and water sports will be built on the two banks of the canal, making it one of the most attractive in the Gulf region.

It is quite confusing...

Emir of Qatar is in US: he met Trump. (Apparently if he agrees to side with US on Syria, US can use influence to end blockade).

Not long ago US backed Saudi & pointed finger towards Qtr for terror support.

Saudi in the mean while is preparing to isolate Qatr into an island with a channel.

US considers sale of advanced weapons to Qatar https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/us- ... s-to-qatar

Big media house in US reporting UAE could move to Iran - Russia orbit if blockade continues....

Qatar demonstrably acts against American interests in the ME and supports those who would do us harm. Their payments to American lobbyists and think tanks to protect them from consequences of their actions is one of the most underreported stories in DC. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/09/us/p ... trref=t.co

any more contradiction left??

Now Saudia is going to become the "Regional Police Capital " As well . Not sure if it is the right decision

Saudi Arabia to open Interpol regional office in Riyadh

RIYADH – Saudi Arabia will officially host the Interpol regional office for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)
The vote was held on the sidelines of a meeting held at the main headquarters of the international police organisation in Lyon, France. Saudi Arabia was chosen due to the vital role it plays in combating extremism, terrorism and crime of all kinds, regionally and globally, the Asharq Al-Awsat reported. Macron conned by MBS

Does This " Saudi Old Fogey " Know About The Recent Forays Of His Son And His Recent Promises To The Jews Of New York

Saudi king slams Iran, US Jerusalem move

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman on Sunday slammed Iran’s “blatant interference” in the region and lashed out at the US over Jerusalem as Arab leaders met in the kingdom for their annual summit.
Under the auspices of Riyadh, seventeen heads of state from across the Arab world — not including Syrian President Bashar al-Assad — gathered in the eastern Saudi city of Dhahran, home to Saudi oil giant Aramco, as world powers face off over Syria and tensions rise between Riyadh and Tehran.

This is precisely the reason, at least IMO, that this "so -called liberalization"- of Malsi and Saudi society - will not work in the Land Of The Sand . The " old foggies" like King Salman, his "aged brothers, sisters, cousins and half and quarter brothers", and hundreds of princes , princesses, the Wahabi Clan of Mullahs , and countless others who have leached themselves to the House Of Saud and have been feeding at the Saudi Public Trough for years and years, without doing a single day's work . If they are forced to "earn their living" all of a sudden by MBS, in the guise of "modernization", there are going to be a lot of "palace intrigues" against him. Good thing that he has Raheel Sharif to watch his back

Taqiyaa in action. Actually MBS might believe his own bull..it, but the market for Saudi heavy crude is contracting as diesel cars and vans are headed for extinction, hence the plans for new refineries in India.

I came to this thread to see if the expected Russian retaliation has started. Prediction is a few more good Houthi fireworks into Riyadh.

diesel is presently around 10/- per liter cheaper than petrol in india from being 40-50% less earlier during the diesel car boom around 15-10 yrs ago. it makes no great savings to own a personal diesel car now. only very high mileage use cases like taxis, locs and trucks can eke out some savings from diesel use.
emissions data were falsified on a large scale by all OEMs worldwide too.

‘Coup feared’ as heavy gunfire reported in Riyadh

Where Is Raheel. Where Is MBS

Heavy firing in Riyadh sparks coup rumours
30 mins ago BY News Desk
–Conflicting reports claim bullets were fired to shoot down a toy drone. Heavy gunfire has been reported outside the royal palace in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh. Reportedly, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been evacuated from the palace.According to Associated Press (AP), Royal Saudi Land Forces Lieutenant General Allukas Nepils is leading the military push to oust the Saudi king.( Is Raheel derelict in his duties. Fiddling in La-Whore while "Rome" is burning  ). A number of videos have emerged online, purportedly showing heavy gunfire in close proximity to the royal palace in the Saudi capital. Military or emergency vehicles can be seen with their lights flashing in the videos. Some reports indicate that the shooting erupted when the palace guards targeted a small drone which came too close to the king’s residence.Wall Street Journal reporter Margherita Stancati said, “No coup attempt in Riyadh. A toy drone/plane got too close to the king’s palace and was shot down.”Saudi journalist Awad Alfayadh said, “A toy drone had flown around a restricted area in Riyadh close to a security check post and they had to shoot it down according to the law.”
Daniel Medina tweeted, “A number of journalists in Riyadh are reporting heavy fire outside palace compound. Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, per these sources, has been evacuated to a bunker inside a military base in the city. Information coming in is still fluid, remains unconfirmed.”.Saudi authorities are yet to comment on the reports. Raheel should catch a PAF plane to Riyadh ASAP. MBS ( his boss!) should return from his "vacation" in Europe ASA P
