More important where is the demand for thousands of megawatt of power?
Way things are going with US (and by extension with Bartania) , if pakistan does not give up on spreading Pakistaniyat then very soon the preferred access to its merchandise in the those $$ markets is going to be history. Demand will go down ,factories will close down power demand will go down.

If you see the various current affairs program or follow the RAPE Print media everything negative for Pakistan is due to "Narrative" .

Humne pakistan ke liye apna kya "Narrative" diya hai?
Bharat ka pakistan ke khilaf "Narrative" duniya ne maan liya.
Humne apna "Narrative " hi nahi diya.
Humme duniya ko apna "Narrative" baawar karana zaruri hai.
Bharat ka rutbaa badha yeh uske successful "Narrative" ki wajah se hai.
and this one takes the cake.... If you take out all the Narratives about Pakistan, then it is just like India. :rotfl: :rotfl:
It is so ridiculous, that even in urdu programs, 'anal' yst with lumbi daadi are using the term.

Official statement from US Embassy:
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson Visit to Pakistan
Islamabad, October 24, 2017 – Secretary of State Rex Tillerson visited Islamabad on October 24 on his inaugural trip to Pakistan as Secretary of State.

In Islamabad, Secretary Tillerson met with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, who also chaired an interagency meeting attended by Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif; Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal; Minister of Defense Khurram Dastigir Khan; Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua; Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa; Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence Lt. Gen. Naveed Mukhtar, and other officials. {all minor officer snubbing, of course}

The Secretary discussed our continued bilateral cooperation and partnership, expanding economic ties between the United States and Pakistan, and Pakistan’s critical role in the region.

The Secretary reiterated President Trump’s message that Pakistan must increase its efforts to eradicate militants and terrorists operating within the country. To address those concerns, the Secretary outlined the United States’ new South Asia Strategy and the vital role that Pakistan can play in working with the United States and others to facilitate a peace process in Afghanistan that can bring stability and security to the region. The Secretary noted that Pakistan and the United States share common interests in establishing a stable, peaceful Afghanistan, defeating ISIS in South Asia, and eliminating terrorist groups that threaten both Pakistan and the United States.

In all meetings with Pakistan’s leaders, the Secretary expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism. The Secretary also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistani Army for their cooperation in securing the release of the Boyle-Coleman family from captivity.

^^^ Paki version (one of many :rotfl: )
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday informed the visiting US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson about its policy of a peaceful neighbourhood and steps taken to promote cooperation and stability in Afghanistan and the region, seeking US cooperation to alleviate the elements inside Afghanistan which are destabilising peace in the region.
:rotfl:
>>> US offers Pakistan cooperation against TTP, IS if it delivers on Afghan peace
>>> Tillerson says Pakistan is ‘so important regionally to our joint goals of providing peace, security to region’
>>> PM Abbasi says Pakistan is ‘committed in war against terror’
Unlike the past precedents, Pakistan sent out a very positive message to the world, as its senior civilian and military leaders together met with Tillerson at the Prime Minister’s House. The move reflected that despite differences on certain issues, Pakistan stands firm when it comes to its relations with friendly countries—like the US, China and Afghanistan.

Tillerson told PM Abbasi that Pakistan is “so important regionally to our joint goals of providing peace and security to the region and providing opportunity for greater economic relationship.”

Abbasi said Pakistan is “committed in the war against terror.”

We have produced results and we are looking forward to moving ahead with the US and building a tremendous relationship,” he said.

“The US can rest assured that we are strategic partners in the war against terror and that today Pakistan is fighting the largest war in the world against terror,” Abbasi said.

We appreciate the understandings that we agreed and we appreciate the engagement,” he added.

Upon his arrival at the Noor Khan Airbase, Tillerson was received by Sajjid Bilal, DG US, Ministry of Foreign Affairs—another shocker for the visiting US dignitary, as in past, top civilian and military officials used to receive senior US officials.

State Dept take https://twitter.com/StateDept/status/922907194315509760

NY Time's take U.S. Warning to Pakistan: Stop Backing Terrorism
....Mr. Abbasi, wearing a traditional white kurta next to Mr. Tillerson’s dark suit, responded cheerfully but pointedly. “The U.S. can rest assured that we are strategic partners in the war against terror and that today Pakistan is fighting the largest war in the world against terror,” he said.

The United States believes that Pakistan has for years supported terrorist groups, like the Haqqani network, that attack American troops in Afghanistan, undermining the 16-year effort to defeat the Taliban. But for just as long, the United States has relied on Pakistani air and land routes to supply both American and Afghan forces.

Without Pakistan, the United States would not be able to keep troops in Afghanistan — but it also might not need to, some American observers suggest.

“What do you do when your allies are part of the problem?” asked Daniel L. Byman, a counterterrorism expert at Georgetown University. “The desire to turn our backs on these people is there, but then you worry that terrorists will have more operational freedom and it will cost you more in the long run.”

In public, the Pakistanis say they have killed more terrorists at greater cost in lives lost than any other nation. In private, they say they must hedge their bets against the inevitable day when American troops leave Afghanistan.

In the days leading up to Mr. Tillerson’s visit, the United States conducted a flurry of airstrikes along the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan, fulfilling President Trump’s promise in August to intensify attacks against the Taliban and Haqqani network, which has run a virtual factory in Pakistan since 2005 to supply suicide bombers in Afghanistan.

Local news media outlets reported more than a dozen missile strikes that killed scores of Haqqani fighters. The strikes, many of them in Pakistani territory, are deeply irritating to Pakistan, which considers them a threat to its sovereignty.

Along with the attacks, the Trump administration has toughened its rhetoric. In a speech last week that offered effusive praise for India, Mr. Tillerson warned, “We expect Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorist groups based there that threaten its own people and the broader region.”

Senior Pakistani army and intelligence officials expressed confidence in background interviews in recent days that the Trump administration cannot sustain a hostile stance for too long. The Pakistanis are keenly aware that the United States relies on them not only for supplies of material, but also for intelligence.

The Obama administration worked to reduce its reliance on Pakistan in part by reaching a reconciliation with Iran, the only other viable option for supplying troops in Afghanistan. India is building a port in the Iranian city of Chabahar, where supplies could be landed and shipped to Afghanistan.

C. Christine Fair, an associate professor at Georgetown University, argues that Pakistan represents a far greater threat to American interests than Iran does. It was Pakistan that provided nuclear technology to North Korea and Libya, and Pakistan’s proxies have killed more American troops than Iran’s, she said.

But the Trump administration’s hostility toward Iran — Mr. Trump has threatened to tear up the Iran nuclear accord — has closed off such a strategy, so the United States must rely on Pakistan.

“It’s like a woman trying to leave an abusive marriage when she has no money,” Ms. Fair said. “How do you do that?”

Will tougher rhetoric change Pakistani behavior? Experts are skeptical.

“Getting tough on Pakistan, which we’ve tried before, never works,” said Ryan C. Crocker, a former ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. “In fact, it has the opposite effect. They just dig in deeper.”

Pakistan Wants To Buy "Bijli" From India Under SAARC Umbrella

Pakistan urges SAARC countries to promote cross-border electricity trade
ISLAMABAD:Pakistan on Tuesday underlined the need for increased cooperation among member countries of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to promote trade of cross-border electricity aimed at achieving sustainable economic growth and ending power load shedding in the region.First allow transit facilities to India and Afghanistan under SAARC , and then talk about "electricity trading"
“Increasing cross-border trade of electricity can play a major role in overcoming challenges to sustain rapid economic growth and making the region free of load shedding. It will help bring down energy prices, mitigate power shocks, relieve shortages, facilitate decarobanisation and provide incentives for market extension and integration,” National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) Chairman Tariq Saddozoi said while addressing the inaugural session of 2nd meeting of SAARC Council of Experts of Energy Regulators (Electricity) here. Promises have been made by no less than the Chini Amb that Pakistan will be surplus producer of power by 20019 due to CPEC ( therefore no load shedding !) then why are they talking about integration and extension !
He said by signing the SAARC Framework Agreement for Energy Cooperation (Electricity) on November 27, 2014, Pakistan had recognized the importance of the electricity in promoting economic growth and improving the quality of life in the region.“The cross-border trade of electricity also complements the electricity demands and resource endowments among the neighboring SAARC countries ,” the chairman said. In the past, the Punjab Govt in India was interested in extending their power lines and selling surplus electricity to Pakjab. Is he trying to revive that under SAARC !
The two-day meeting of SAARC Council of Experts of Energy Regulators (Electricity) was being attended b participants from members countries inlcuidng Abdul Khayer and Firoz Zaman from Bangladesh, Nima Tshering and Sangay Phuntsho from Bhutan, Shazeena Ismail from Maldives, Nutan Prkash Sharman and Sumanta Kumar Sah from Nepal, Nilantha Sapumanage and Gamini Sarathehandra from Srilanka and Habibulrahman Rahmat and M Waris Mustamadi from Afghanistan. India is not there !

Sind Govt Says "No" To Steel Mill Land Grab By Military Establishment :D

Sindh govt won’t give steel mill land to centre, says Murad
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the provincial government would never give its land for the proposed recovery of Pakistan Steel Mill.“The land belongs to the people of Sindh and we would never barter away on their rights,” he said while giving instructions to Sindh Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon and asked him to write a letter to the federal government that the land of Pakistan Steel Mills belongs to the provincial government.“We would never allow its [land] doling out to settle the liabilities of mills which are said to be around Rs65 billion,” he said. IMO, the Sindh Chief Minister is on shaky ground. In Pakistan, what fauj wants, fauj gets !!!
“The steel mill has a vast potential to turn it a profit-making orgnisation but it needs political will and clear business plan which seems to be lacked with the people at the helm of affairs,” he said.“Everything is going on there on ad hoc basis and the policies and plans of the mill are being worked out by those who have no official authority.” Just a few weeks ago, the Military Establishment sent some "top honchos" from the Deep State to do a preliminary survey of the PSM property !
We would never allow any bank or corporation to take an inch of the land of the mill,” he said and added the extra land of the mill would also be resumed. The chief minister said that the provincial government has its own plans to utilise the land available there.
“We are going to establish new industrial units, power plants and such other establishments,” he said and directed the chief secretary to start a clear and concrete correspondence with the federal government. In Pakistan, what fauj wants, fauj gets . Case closed !

Pakistan gives Tillerson frosty welcome
ISLAMABAD - US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson got a frosty welcome to Pakistan Tuesday after Washington turned up the heat on Islamabad.
America’s top diplomat was quietly greeted by a mid-level Foreign Office official and US Ambassador David Hale at the military airport in Rawalpindi, an AFP photographer saw - a welcome that, while marked with smiles, was devoid of the pomp that usually accompanies high-level visits. "Pomp Welcome" now surely assured in New Delhi
He was then driven in a convoy of Land Cruisers amid tight security to the US embassy in Islamabad’s diplomatic enclave, before meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other top officials. It was not clear how long the meeting lasted, but the secretary left Pakistan for India Tuesday evening, less than four hours after landing. Maybe, he "used" the embassy quarters for a quick shower, change of clothes , a bite to eat ( 2 hours !) and went through the motions of meeting the Pakis , and off to "enemy" India .
The visit was the first to nuclear-armed Pakistan by a senior Trump administration official and comes months after the US President angrily accused Islamabad of harbouring “agents of chaos” who could attack US-led NATO forces in neighbouring Afghanistan. Asif was the recipient of this message !
It follows on the heels of an unannounced stop in Afghanistan Monday, where Tillerson reiterated America’s commitment to the country and warned that Washington has made “very specific requests” of Pakistan over militancy. The US-Pakistan relationship has waxed and waned dramatically since Trump took office in January. Pakistan said the President had praised its then-prime minister Nawaz Sharif as “terrific” in an effusive phone call (contrary to diplomatic norms, Pakis released the transcript of the phone call, which POTUS did not appreciate ! ) when Trump took office in January.
Political analyst Zahid Hussain said there may be little Islamabad can do at this point to convince the US it is acting in good faith. “The perception here is whatever they do, it is not going to please the Americans,” Hussain told AFP.
Earlier this month Pakistani forces acting on American intelligence said they had rescued a US-Canadian family held by the Taliban for five years, sparking hopes that ties would improve. The rescue was followed by drone strikes on both sides of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border targeting long-time foes of both Washington and Islamabad. This POTUS does not believe in diplomatic nicities
Tillerson’s visit to Afghanistan set social media aflutter Tuesday after Afghan officials released a photo that had seemingly been doctored to disguise the fact that it took place at Bagram, a secure military base, rather than Kabul, which was hit by multiple militant attacks last week.An image released by the State Department of the same meeting featured several details, including a clock and fire alarm, that had been removed from the Afghan image.

Basically, Tillerson Was In Isloo To Convey A Message To The Pakis

Partnership linked to new strategy, US tells Pakistan
POSTED IN FULL
ISLAMABAD - The United States on Tuesday pressed Pakistan to accept President Donald Trump’s new Afghanistan policy – with a greater role for India - if it desired partnership with Washington, The Nation has learnt.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who visited Islamabad, made it clear to Pakistan’s civil and military leadership that his country would not change its Afghan policy on Islamabad’s demand, officials privy to the meeting told The Nation. “Tillerson was straightforward in telling us that the only way out for Pakistan [if it wanted to continue partnership with Washington] is to accept new policies of the US . Tillerson emphasised the US wanted India’s engagement on the Afghan issue,” said one official, adding the US asked Pakistan to go for the kill against all terror outfits. There is no way that Pakistan will throw its "strategic assets" to the wolves !
Tillerson, who was not accorded a rousing welcome when he landed in Islamabad ostensibly for his aggressive statements before flying to Pakistan , was firm that Pakistan needed to “do more” to improve the Pak-US trust level.
The top US envoy faced Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan, Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa, Inter-Services Intelligence chief Naveed Mukhtar, secretary to PM Mussadiq Malik, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and other officials on one table as he led his own delegation including Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale. As opposed to Ganja, who was "PM in name only", this new guy Abbasi appears to be "pro-active" and "fauj supported" as well !
A US embassy statement issued after the meeting said, during his inaugural trip to Pakistan as secretary of state, Tillerson “reiterated President Trump’s message that Pakistan must increase its efforts to eradicate militants and terrorists operating within the country.” The US statement said to address those concerns, “the secretary outlined the United States’ new South Asia Strategy and the vital role that Pakistan can play in working with the United States and others [in all probability India] to facilitate a peace process in Afghanistan that can bring stability and security to the region.” Tone of the message "frank" and "business like " .
The secretary, the statement said, noted that “Pakistan and the United States shared common interests in establishing a stable, peaceful Afghanistan, defeating ISIS [Islamic State of Iraq and Syria] in South Asia, and eliminating terrorist groups that threaten both Pakistan and the United States.” Pakistan's intention and interest in Afghanistan can in no way be reconciled with Massa's objectives in Afghanistan !
It added: “The secretary discussed our continued bilateral cooperation and partnership , expanding economic ties between the United States and Pakistan , and Pakistan’s critical role in the region.”It was not all sticks as in the end, Tillerson “expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.”
The secretary, the US embassy said, also “expressed his gratitude to the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistani army for their cooperation in securing the release of the Boyle-Coleman family from captivity.”
Sources said initially separate meetings between Tillerson, Abbasi, Khawaja Asif and General Bajwa were planned but PM Abbasi wanted the meeting to take place on one table so that the civil and the military leadership could listen to what US secretary had to say, together. The US embassy said Prime Minister Abbasi chaired the “interagency meeting”.
A close aide of the prime minister told The Nation that the ministers and the military leadership were called to discuss the issues on one table to “keep everything transparent”.
“The idea was to listen to Tillerson and give a joint reply through the PM. We [Pakistani civil and military leaders] did have consultations before Tillerson’s visit to finalise our response [to the US],” he said.
The official said Pakistan’s concerns over India’s proposed role on the Afghanistan issue and India’s state-sponsored terrorism in Held Kashmir were shared with Tillerson. “Tillerson did not give any desired reply on India’s role in Afghanistan but vowed to support [Pak-India] bilateral efforts for resolution of the Kashmir issue,” he added.
Interestingly, PM Abbasi flew to Lahore almost simultaneously with Tillerson who left for New Delhi after the “important talks”.Officials said Prime Minister Abbasi told Tillerson that Pakistan was committed to the “war on terror” and was not playing any double-game with the US or the world. He also referred to the sacrifices made by Pakistan in the war on terror and added that Pakistan had “produced results” in the fight. The "rookie PM" may not be privy to all the information. And maybe, he may be "innocently unaware" of Deep State shenanigans !
The PM, an official said, shared Pakistan’s fears that US proposal for India’s greater role to resolve the Afghanistan issue would only aggravate the situation.
“Pakistan is already a victim of Indian-sponsored terrorism emanating from the Afghan soil,” he quoted the premier as saying. So, he appears to have been "briefed" by the fauj
An identical statement released separately by the PM’s office and the foreign ministry said Tillerson’s visit was a follow-up to the meeting between Prime Minister Abbasi and the US Vice President, Mike Pence, in New York in September 2017 in which the “two sides agreed to resume full scale engagements between the two governments.” The prime minister, it said, underlined the importance of high-level engagements between the two countries and expressed satisfaction on the progress made during those interactions in recent months. So, there was no "joint statement" as is usually the case in such meetings. Separate statement by US Embassy and Paki officials shows that there is no commonality of views :D
Abbasi informed the visiting delegation of the significant strides Pakistan had made in improving the overall security and economic environment of the country resulting in significantly improved business and investment opportunities available to foreign businesses and investors, said the statement.“The talks covered in detail all aspects of bilateral relations, the regional situation, as well as the evolving international environment,” it said. All this in just 2-3 hours
Pakistan. delegation, the statement said, outlined the government’s policy of a peaceful neighbourhood and steps taken to promote cooperation and stability in Afghanistan and the region.
“The US delegation was informed that progress in promoting peace and stability in the region was linked to the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The ongoing grave violations of human rights by Indian occupation forces in Indian-occupied Kashmir were highlighted,” the statement added. Meaning , you "force" India to talk to us on Kashmir, and we will then "help" you in Afghanistan !
The US delegation was apprised of the tremendous sacrifices made by the Pakistan nation including security forces and the law enforcement agencies in the war against terror, it said. Quantitative information on economic loss ( 1000 Billion ? ) and human sacrifices ( hundreds of thousands killed ) not supplied this time
“The fact that Pakistani security forces have successfully carried out the largest counterterrorism operation was detailed along with Pakistan’s sustained commitment and interest in supporting peace and stability in Afghanistan as well as the broader region. The delegation was also informed of the ongoing efforts on securing the Pak-Afghan border out of national resources,” said the statement.
It added: “The two sides agreed to build upon the understandings reached in the dialogue process and to continue the pace and scope of high-level engagements in future.” It is always "good policy" to leave the door, a little bit open

Pakiland's Over Active PEMRA :D

PEMRA Gives Final Warning to Urdu 1 Over Airing Banned Movies
Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a warning to Urdu 1 over public telecast of an obscene movie. The authority has asked to not air any banned movie in the future. In a recent press release, PEMRA warned the channel that if it ignored the order, the authority would take action against it.PEMRA has been active these days and it has issued warnings to various channels. The official statement said; Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a warning to Urdu-1 to not air any banned movie in future, keeping in view the provisions of Electronic Media (Programmes and Advertisements) Code of Conduct 2015.If the channel fails to comply with the decision made by PEMRA further action will be taken against them. Maybe, it is a calculated decision by the channel. Maybe, after paying the fine, getting "free" publicity in the process, they still may come ahead in the numbers game
It’s not the first time that Urdu 1 has come under scrutiny from PEMRA. In September 2017, PEMRA sent a notice to Urdu 1 for airing Bollywood movie “Dangal” after censor board identified some scenes to be “not suitable” for Pakistani audience. But according to "google chacha", Pakistan is # 1 in search of animal sex, poon , so how it can be that some scenes are "not suitable" This is probably a follow-up regarding the same issue as Urdu 1 has been repeatedly violating the same PEMRA regulation i.e. against obscene content. If the channel still broadcasts any banned material PEMRA will proceed further under the law.

Pakistan "Admits" That Its Citizens Beg In Foreign Countries

FIA to Take Action Against Pakistani Beggars in Foreign Countries
Stern measures are being taken against Pakistani beggars in foreign countries, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as per the order of the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, in order to safeguard the country from having a bad reputation. Too little, too late IMHO !
Apart from this, the Interior Minister reviewed the performance of the FIA along with a host of other orders.
According to the reports, people from Pakistan are taken to Makkah and Madinah with a promise to provide them with jobs. Upon reaching there, they appoint them as beggars. Since there is no other alternative for them to fulfil their basic need, they have no other choice but to choose this field. Are Saudi citizens and/ or Saudi Sheikhs involved in this money making scheme. Is the FIA's Terms Of Reference cover them as well
FIA was further directed to take necessary measures with every aspect regarding extremism, anarchy, and disorder via social media.
Removal of “black sheeps” within the ranks of FIA was strictly ordered,...
Latest technology must be used to curb crime. The FIA Academy should be rebuilt and must be made a model-training institute,” ...
Furthermore, his orders included taking effective measures on the control of human trafficking...
Lastly, he directed the FIA officials to maintain a pleasant behavior towards passengers at the airport. ...
So, it is more like a National Action Plan for the FIA. Nabbing of foreign based beggars is only one of the component of the overall plan . Wonder who will be the "lucky afsar" who gets to go to Saudia on the "field investigation" trip and a free "side trip" to Mecca to do the "small Hajj" AKA Umra !

Sahiwal Coal Power Plant
https://www.brecorder.com/2017/10/09/37 ... r-project/
He said the {1320 MW} plant would produce 9039 GWh (9039 billion units) electricity annually, and it would require 3.1 million ton of imported coal annually at a cost of $434 million.
1. Shouldn't 9039 GWh = 9.039 billion units, since 1 unit = 1000 Wh?
2. Just the cost of coal comes to $0.048 per unit - not to count all the other costs, including loan payback.
3. Indian NTPC sells power at INR 3.20 per unit, which at today's exchange rate comes to $0.049 per unit.
(e.g., https://qz.com/984656/solar-power-is-no ... -no-sense/ )

If Pakistan think its economy is going to be competitive with Chinese-built power plants, they have got to be delusional.

Meanwhile WP take on T-Rex visit and reading riot act is even more brutal..
Pakistan vows cooperation in fight against terrorist groups
ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s prime minister pledged his country’s cooperation in fighting Islamist militants during talks here Tuesday with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who has insisted that Pakistan do more to curb support for terrorist groups or face U.S. reprisals.

The U.S. can rest assured that we are strategic partners in the war against terror and that today, Pakistan is fighting the largest war in the world against terror,” Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told Tillerson just before their closed-door talks began. Pakistan’s army and intelligence chiefs also attended the meeting.

Moments earlier, Tillerson alluded to U.S. concerns that Pakistan is providing safe haven to terrorist groups — a charge Pakistan has repeatedly denied. At the same time, he described Pakistan as having an “important role” in the Trump administration’s strategy and referenced “our joint goals of providing peace and security to the region and providing opportunity for [a] greater economic relationship.”

On Monday, during a brief and unannounced visit to Afghanistan, Tillerson struck a much harsher tone, saying he intended to make clear in his talks Tuesday that Pakistan’s relationship with the United States would suffer — including possible aid cuts — if it did not take specific actions to curb support for militant groups, including the Haqqani network, a Taliban affiliate.

Tillerson’s arrival in Pakistan was low key and heavily secured; he landed at a military air base in Rawalpindi, near the capital, at midafternoon with little official protocol or fanfare, and his only visits were to the U.S. Embassy and the prime minister’s office in Islamabad. Traffic was blocked across the capital during the official convoy’s movements.

Pakistan’s Senate chairman, Raza Rabbani, said Tuesday that Tillerson’s threatening message the day before “seems like that of a viceroy’s before they visit a country.”

Abbasi, though, appeared eager to assure Tillerson that he had heard the message, telling him when they met Tuesday that Pakistan’s government is committed to the war against terrorism. “We have produced results,” he said. “And we are looking forward to moving ahead with the U.S. and building a tremendous relationship.”

Despite the largely cordial tone of their opening remarks, followed by several hours of private talks in the prime minister’s office before Tillerson flew to India for a longer stay, the enormous gap between American and Pakistani concerns and priorities has been evident in comments by numerous Pakistani officials and opinion-makers in the past week.

The Trump administration has focused strictly on the demand for more Pakistani cooperation in curbing terrorism and in ending the 16-year conflict in next-door Afghanistan. Many Afghans view Pakistan — which once backed the Taliban regime in Kabul — as a source of violent Islamist militancy and a permanent threat to their country’s stability.

Pakistanis, on the other hand, are far more worried about the threat from India, their larger rival and neighbor to the east, which is led by a Hindu nationalist government. The two countries have fought four limited wars. Both claim the Himalayan border region of Kashmir, and Pakistan has repeatedly accused Indian troops of abusing protesters in the Indian-controlled portion.

Pakistani officials said they intended to raise the issue of India forcefully Tuesday, especially President Trump’s overture to New Delhi to become more deeply involved in developing Afghanistan. That gesture has been viewed here as a direct U.S. rebuke to Pakistan and an invitation to India to jointly dominate the conflicted region.

“Our job will be to show Tillerson that he is mistaken in thinking that the U.S. can ever defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan by relying only on India,” the editors of the News International newspaper wrote Tuesday. “Pakistan is still needed to negotiate a political end to the war,” they wrote, adding that Washington is “looking for scapegoats” to blame for its failures in Afghanistan.

Pakistani Defense Minister Khurram Dastgir, who participated in the talks with Tillerson, told a TV news show Tuesday night that “we told him the threat of India is very real” and that Pakistan wants “mutual respect and cooperation,” not economic aid, from Washington.

Dastgir said a single meeting was held with Tillerson, including senior civilian and military officials, “to give a united message” to Washington. Pakistan’s military establishment cooperates with U.S. intelligence agencies on terrorism issues but has bristled at suggestions from civilian leaders that it allow U.S. troops to operate in Pakistan.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis is due to visit Pakistan soon and is expected to reinforce Tillerson’s demands; he has told Congress several times that Pakistan is still sheltering the Haqqani network, despite its denials. There has been no specific description of likely sanctions on Pakistan if administration officials decide they are not satisfied.

Ever since Trump accused Pakistan in August of harboring “agents of chaos,” officials here have made numerous efforts to restore American goodwill. Earlier this month, Pakistan’s military unexpectedly announced that its troops had rescued an American woman, her Canadian husband and their three children after five years in Taliban captivity, based on a U.S. intelligence tip. Trump hailed the release as a “positive moment” in the strained relationship.

But observers in both countries doubt that such efforts will do much to resolve the larger tension between the former Cold War allies, which now fear different enemies and seek contradictory solutions to regional conflict. Any smaller signs of cooperation, wrote columnist Huma Yusuf in the Dawn newspaper this week, are only “the piecemeal politics of placation.”

“Washington has now effectively read Pakistan the riot act
,” said Michael Kugelman, a Pakistan expert at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington. If the Trump administration decides to take drastic measures, the relationship could “plunge into deep crisis,” he said. For the moment there is a “modest thaw,” as indicated by Tillerson’s visit, Kugelman said, but he added that U.S.-Pakistan relations will soon be “put to the test in a big way.”

Morello reported from Qatar. Shaiq Hussain in Islamabad contributed to this report.

They met with all of them in a single meeting in the same room. This is being spun by ISI pasand anchors as Pakistan putting out a united front, but in reality it just means that they all got the dressing down instead of the civilians softening the blow for the faujis.

There is absolutely nothing, not one single scene, in Dangal that can even remotely be called obscene. The Pakistanis were basically unhappy with the positive feel good vibes about India in the overall tone of the movie and tried to censor some scenes including the national anthem at the end, to which Amir Khan told them to FO and refused to release the movie in Pakistan. Obscene is just a cover for their real issue with it, and its not fooling anyone.

One of the major goals of Rex T's visit to India is to kick-start the India-Pakistan peace dialogue. The US continues to believe, and that belief seems to have got more muscularity in the Trump administration, that the Af-Pak issue is really India-Pak issue and peace in Kabul is through New Delhi & Rawalpindi-Islamabad. It feels that the Afghan issues would evaporate the moment India & Pakistan resolve their disputes.

US ready to provide best tech for India's military modernisation: Tillerson

NEW DELHI: The US on Wednesday backed India's emergence as a "leading power" and promised to provide the "best technology" for its military modernisation.

"US backs India's emergence as a leading power and will continue to help Indian capabilities in providing security for the region. We are ready to provide the best technology for India's military modernisation," said US secretary of state Rex Tillerson in a joint statement with external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.

Tillerson added that he was "looking forward to discussing deals for F16 and F18 fighter jets with India."

Both countries also decisively condemned terrorism and those who provide "safe havens" to terrorists.

"The US and India agree that Pakistan must work to immediately get rid of terror safe havens operating there," said Swaraj.

Tillerson, who is in India as part of his five-nation visit, echoed Swaraj's views and said that "terror safe havens will not be tolerated."

Highlighting the strengthening relationship between the two countries, the top American diplomat said that "India and USA are natural allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder against terror."

Tillerson, who visited Islamabad before New Delhi, warned that if terror groups continue to proliferate in Pakistan, they could threaten the very stability of its government.

"Too many terror groups find safe haven in Pakistan, and these are now threatening the stability of the country's government. We want to work with Pakistan in a positive way as we think this is in their interest in the longer term," he said.

India added that for US President Donald Trump's new South Asia policy to succeed, Pakistan would have to act against all terrorists, without exception.

Tillerson reiterated that India is "crucial" to the US's Afghanistan strategy.

The joint statement covered a range of other issues including economic cooperation and trade, H-1B visas and North Korea.

Pakistan tops list of 'illegal overstayers' after Umrah: report
According to Arab News, the 6,905 pilgrims from Pakistan stayed in Saudi Arabia illegally after the pilgrimage season was over.
Pakistan was followed by Nigeria with 1,629 overstayers and Egypt with 1,081, the daily added.
Saudi Arabia deported more than 39,000 Pakistanis in the four months prior to the report for "violating the rules of residence and work".
"Most of them travelled to Saudi Arabia on Umrah visa, but slipped there to find work (or beg)"

No to CPEC unless Pakistan provides trade access to India: President Ghani
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has said that his country will not be a part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) unless it is given access to Pakistan's Wagah and Attari border
Kabul will restrict Pakistan's access to central Asia if it is not given access to India through the CPEC project
the Afghan president also welcomed India's new role in Afghanistan as discussed in the new US policy for the region.
Ghani visited India just a day after US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's surprise visit to Afghanistan.

Varsities neglect signs of extremism
“In one of the introductory classes, a professor conveniently told us [students] not to openly talk about three ‘danger’ topics when on campus — Constitution, religion and politics
the Higher Education Commission directed universities to take measures preventing radicalisation “opportunities” for students and staff. “The biggest opportunity for radicalising students is the curriculum itself. Choosing not to talk about ‘sensitive’ topics is making the problem worse.
“No critical discussion can take place over subjects like blasphemy, sex or anything that opposes the popular [religious] sentiment in class
“The administration is apprehensive of students gathered in groups in dread of violent riots — particularly if the students are from ‘restive’ provinces. The teachers are afraid to preach progressive ideas in the presence of religious parties fearing backlash. And the students? They are petrified of becoming the next target of vigilantism
expression of conflict will lead to violence
“After so many reports of students involved in militancy, we have become very insecure. It doesn’t take long for one to suspect someone of being linked with the Taliban for being ‘too Muslim’” (too muslim?)
“A religious group in PU organises [religious] events often and forces students out of their hostels and classrooms to attend
“In a class of MA Literature, a teacher would recite surahs for 45 minutes every day  and discourage reading western literature for it was ‘un-Islamic’”
“They [religious groups] often roam on the university premises armed with clubs to disperse the male and female students sitting in an open place, even if they were discussing studies only”
Too muslim? That's a first!

F.M. Asif Repeats" Broken Record Mantra" : No Terrorist Safe Havens Present In Pakistan. Tillerson Statement Irks Senate Chairman Rabbani. :D

No terrorist safe havens present in country, Pakistan tells Tillerson
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday said that Pakistan, in the meeting with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, made it clear that no terrorist safe havens exist on Pakistani soil. Statement in D.C. repeated verbatim in Isloo
The US secretary of state, in a statement to the Afghan media, had said that he would pressure Islamabad to take action on the support Taliban ...
The statement brought a backlash from Pakistan's parliament, which denounced the US official's. The Chairman of Senate Raza Rabbani declared Tillerson’s statement about Pakistan ‘unacceptable.’ The "hurt" to the H&D
“His [Tillerson’s] statement seems like that of a viceroy’s before they visit a country,” Rabbani had said in a Senate session earlier today, adding that the US secretary of state's tone was 'inappropriate.'Before shooting off his mouth with "undiplomatic rhetoric", someone should "remind" Rabbani that Pakiland's day to day financial survival depends on Massa's goodwill .

Khawaja Asif And His Pakjabi Mardangi

Pakistan tells US to accept defeat in Afghanistan, agrees assistance on equal terms
Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, while briefing the Senate on Wednesday regarding the talks held between Pakistani and American delegations a day earlier, asserted that Islamabad will co-operate with Washington in the 'war on terror' but without compromising its own sovereignty. Now Pakistan wants to become a "born-again virgin" Massa has "violated" the sover-virginity umpteen # of times !
On Tuesday, a six-member delegation comprising Pakistan's top civil and military leadership hosted US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for a brief visit to Islamabad. In fact, if foreign media reports are to be believed, this was a dressing down session of the combined Paki civil and military top brass by T- Rex. :D
Asif briefed that the Pakistani leadership told the American delegation that they should allow their policymakers, and not their military leaders, to devise a policy for Afghanistan as the military solution has failed and a political solution is needed."Their failures over the past 16 years [since the war in Afghanistan started] is before them," Asif added. This is not how a "major non-NATO ally " should be "bad mouthing" his maa-baap
"There will only be room for improvement if Washington accepts their defeat, their failures in Afghanistan," Asif said on Wednesday. "They are not ready to accept this." This "undiplomatic" FM should know that this is not the Paki National Assembly, where he has been well known in showing his Pakjabi mardangi !
During the talks, Asif told the Senate, Pakistani officials informed the American delegation that Pakistan does not want any military hardware, economic resources or material gain from Washington. Rather, Pakistan wants a relationship based on equality with the US. Have they found a "new" sugar daddy yet
Asif further informed the Senate that the Pakistani side has told the American delegation that if the latter provides actionable intelligence, Pakistan will act on it. He gave the example of the recent rescue of an American-Canadian couple and their three children from terrorists’ captivity in Kohat. "However, if they want that we act as their proxies to fight their war... this is unacceptable." Where is a "very thin line" between the two. Pakistan has always served as a rentier state - available for sale to the highest bidder !!
"We will not compromise on our sovereignty, our dignity," Asif added. "Our relations [with America] should be based on self-respect and dignity." He said, in contrast, Pakistan, which is not a superpower, has gained successes in the war against terror. "Our country, our military and our police have made sacrifices in the war and in return, we have gained unmatched success."
"We have told them that there are a number of influential players in the region ─ including China, Turkey and Russia ─ who might not have good relations with America but hold a stake in the Afghan dispute." "The role of these countries in solving the dispute is indispensable," Asif added. He would have been "raked over the coals" , had he mentioned ( "enemy") India as an "influential player"
Referring to a recent statement by US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley where she said that India can help the United States in keeping an eye on Pakistan, Asif said that Pakistan "also has a mouth to speak" but will proceed with caution so that relations with America can improve. Not sure, what he is trying to convey over here . In Pakistan, his reputation as a misogynist is well known
Following the meeting between Pakistani officials and Rex Tillerson in Islamabad, Asif ─ who was a member of the Pakistani delegation ─ said that the American delegation was informed that Washington's allegations against Pakistan of offering safe havens to terrorists and protecting the Haqqani network are incorrect.

Foul Mouth Fake Doctor Cum "Hot Anchor" Amir liaqat Hard To Get :D

Dr Aamir Liaquat doesn't show up at PTI's 'press conference'
The Express Tribune
KARACHI:
TV host Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain did not turn up at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Ismail’s residence on Wednesday to announce joining the party contrary to its claim a day earlier. “He is [Dr Aamir] is likely to join the party next month along with several other prominent figures,” PTI spokesperson Dawa Khan Sabir told The Express Tribune.“However, talks between the PTI and Dr Aamir haven’t finalised yet,” he added.
The TV host had parted ways with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) after a brief detention at Rangers headquarters in August last year.
He was detained along with nine other MQM leaders after party workers attacked media houses following the party’s supremo Altaf Hussain’s ‘anti-Pakistan’ speech.
Speaking to the media the following day, Aamir said he was fed up with the party and the way it functioned and also announced that he was leaving politics for good.
Since then, he has been hosting shows on a private TV channel. He came to fore once again when the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) banned him from appearing on national television for ‘preaching hate’, a decision that was challenged by the Sindh High Court (SHC) but later upheld by the apex court of the country.
Aamir has also served as minister of state for religious affairs in Shaukat Aziz’s Cabinet between 2004 and 2007.

A couple of things about this "fake doctor" with a purchased degree from Dawood Ebrahim's Axact University . His "mouth" has been for "hire" to the highest bidder. He is famous for "publicity stunts", his latest - before this no -show - was being deported from Mynmar after his arrest at the airport. He had gone there to "check" on his Rohingya brothers. IMO, he will be too toxic for Immy, if he joins PTI . But who knows, stranger things have happened in Paki politics

Stranger Things Have Happened In Paki Politics ! Hafiz Suar's Name Not On List Handed To US

Hafiz Saeed's name not on list of 75 militants handed over by US: Khawaja Asif
The Express Tribune > Pakistan
Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said on Wednesday that Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed’s name was not on the list of 75 militants the US had handed over to Pakistan.
“The Haqqani network is on the top of the list but none of the militants are Pakistanis,” Asif told senators during a session of the parliament’s upper house, Express News reported. The minister said the US had been told that Pakistan no longer had influence over the Afghan Taliban as it did in the past. So, the Quetta Shura and the Peshawar Shura are figments of someone's fertile imagination
“Neither are we supporting them [Afghan Taliban], nor do they need our help,” he added. “Somebody else is sponsoring them now.” Asif asserted that many of the key Taliban names were now shadow governors in Afghanistan or no longer alive. Apart from Hafiz Suar, what about Maulana Masood, Syed Salahuddin, and Lal Masjid Ghazi (who was Saudi support ) , are they not being kept in "reserve" for the future
Asif told the senators that Pakistan had not compromised in response to US President Donald Trump’s new Af-Pak policy. “We made it clear that we don’t need financial aid; our dignity is more important to us,” he added. “Peace in Pakistan is interrelated with peace in Afghanistan. We’ve told the US that its military solution won’t work and dialogue is the only way forward.” India, Asif continued, was playing the biggest role in destabilising the region and Afghanistan was assisting the former as a facilitator. “Militants from Afghanistan are responsible for the unrest in Pakistan,” he maintained. No one is convinced of these "recycled cliches" !

ISLAMABAD – Imam-e-Kaaba Professor Dr Saleh Bin Abdullah Bin Hemeid has called upon Muslim societies to devise a comprehensive strategy for the availability of Halal food while urging that unnecessary decrees in this regard shouldn’t be released as it’s a matter that pertains to authentic forums. Too many cooks spoil the broth
He was addressing at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) in an international conference on “Halal Food: Principles, Shariah standards and contemporary issues.” Paki Mullahs have to defer to Imam-e-Kaaba on this "important matter", no ifs and buts hence the invite to the top honcho !
“Not only eating but issues of medicines and beverages are required to be addressed when it comes to Halal Food as Haram food leaves negative effects on human body,” Imam-e-Kaaba said. He needs to eloborate !. His Kingdom needs to practice what it preaches !
He maintained that business of Halal food is a great deed. Imam-e-Kaaba told that Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Fiqh Academy had arranged many conferences and sessions on Halal food and it had recommended guidelines  ( is not "fatwa" the requisite instrument for this. And what about the "guidelines and fatwas" from Qom. Should they be ignored ? Is there a Shia Halal Authority and a Sunni Halal Authority . Paki Shias needs to know !) in this regard.
Talking about Pak-Saudi relations, Imam-e-Kaaba said people of KSA love Pakistanis as there is no alternative to the intimacy that they have for two Holy Mosques and KSA . Nothing about the Pakis being deported in droves from Saudia
Rector IIUI Dr Masoom Yasinzai said that the success of the Halal food business in Pakistan was impossible without concerted efforts, strategies and measures to support the development of the Halal industry. He added that Pakistan had great potential for Halal food trade as 30 million people are associated with livestock. IIUI Rector added that by utilizing the grazing fields of Balochistan, ( trial balloon for leasing out Balochi Land to Saudis  ) the country could meet the requirements of Halal food of Muslim world which will also strengthen the Pakistani economy.

“They [US] must do some self-accountability also. Why have they lost 45 per cent of the Afghan territory in the last 10, 12 years,” Asif questioned.
