China’s PLA Upgrades Its Forces Along Disputed Border With India
Despite continuing talks between India and China, military preparations clearly are continuing, too.
Rajeswari Pillai Rajagopalan, May 28, 2021

Following the Galwan clash in June 2020, India and China have maintained an uneasy calm along the line of actual control (LAC), the de facto border between them, but with the summer approaching rapidly, there is a growing sense that things may heat up. A media report in The Hindu said that “a minor face-off” had occurred between Indian and Chinese troops in the “no-patrolling zone” at Galwan Valley over the last weekend. Even though the media report was sourced to a senior government official, the Indian Army refuted it, stating that there was no such “minor face-off.”
Nevertheless, there are developments close to the border areas that should be noted. Reportedly, the Xinjiang Military District, part of the restructured Western Theater Command, is receiving greater attention in terms of upgrades with new equipment, including combat vehicles. Traditionally, this region was not a priority in comparison to Beijing’s focus on Taiwan. But that is changing, quite rapidly. Following the Galwan clash, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) appears to be giving a fair share of importance to the Xinjiang Military District and upping the overall combat proficiency of the Xinjiang Military Command. Citing a Shanghai-based news website Eastday.com report, Global Times said that the Xinjiang Military Command received three new weapon systems over the last month: the Type 08 armored vehicle, a 122mm-caliber self-propelled howitzer (partially using technologies from the PCL-181 155mm-caliber self-propelled howitzer), and the PHL-03 long-range multiple rocket launcher system. An Indian news report cited the South China Morning Post (SCMP) as saying that the PLA is aiming to buttress China’s border defense and strengthen deterrent measures against India.
A Chinese media report also stated that the Xinjiang Military Command has received a new type of amphibious armored vehicle for rescue missions, which according to military experts, are useful for missions in high-altitude border areas such as Galwan Valley. A CCTV report cited in the Global Times story claimed that in an exercise conducted in March this year, “the [armored] vehicle reached the rescue point 4 kilometers away within only five minutes despite complicated road conditions in the high-altitude mountains.”
According to other Chinese media reports, cited by Janes, the ground forces of the Xinjiang Military Command have also been given new PHL-03 multiple rocket launchers (MRLs). The state-run China Central Television (CCTV) is reported to have displayed the new MRLs, a formation of 10 launchers, “each manned by a crew of four, accompanied by four transloaders and four unidentified 4×4 trucks, which were likely for carrying various spares or additional battery equipment.” The launchers were developed by China’s North Industries Group Corporation (Norinco) and can each reportedly fit 12 launch tubes for 300 mm artillery rockets.

Chinese virus and Chinese cure. All Brazilian money.
Sinovac vaccine restores a Brazilian city to near normal
https://apnews.com/article/caribbean-br ... f9c557e5b6
SERRANA, Brazil (AP) — Just one COVID-19 patient is in critical condition at the Dr. Geraldo Cesar Reis clinic in Serrana, a city of almost 46,000 in Sao Paulo state’s countryside. The 63-year-old woman rejected the vaccine that was offered to every adult resident of Serrana as part of a trial.

Doctors say the woman was awaiting one of Pfizer’s shots, which remain scarce in Brazil. But she is an outlier here. Most adults rolled up their sleeves when offered the vaccine made by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac, and the experiment has transformed the community into an oasis of near normalcy in a country where many communities continue to suffer.

China warns of ‘nuclear showdown’ with the United States. The Chinese government’s mouthpiece newspaper has launched a blistering attack on the United States threatening it with a “high intensity showdown” possibly involving nuclear weapons.
Ben Graham, June 3, 2021

Hu Xijin, the editor of the Chinese state-run newspaper the Global Times, said enhancing China’s nuclear program was now vital to the country’s “strategic deterrence” against the United States.
His comments came shortly after US President Joe Biden called for a further investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We must be prepared for an intense showdown between China and the US,” Mr Hu wrote in an op-ed for the Global Times. “The number of China’s nuclear warheads must reach the quantity that makes US elites shiver should they entertain the idea of engaging in a military confrontation with China.”
Mr Hu – who once called Australia “gum stuck to China’s shoe” – doubled down on his war cry in a series of posts on the Weibo social media platform.
China has launched a blistering attack on the West threatening it with a “high intensity showdown” possibly involving nuclear weapons.
“Given the intensifying US strategic containment of China, I would like to remind once again that we have many urgent tasks, but one of the most important is to keep rapidly increasing the number of nuclear warheads and strategic missiles like the Dongfeng 41 with extremely long-range and high survival capabilities,” Mr Hu wrote in a post translated by Chinese human rights activist Jennifer Zeng.
“This is the cornerstone of China’s strategic resilience against the United States.

All this talk is nothing but wishful thinking. The elites of US, China and Taiwan are enmeshed with each other too deeply for India to actually make a difference with or without nukes. Neither does any ruling dispensation of India whether previous or current, has the guts or the strategic vision to give nukes to Taiwan.

Leave aside giving Nukes to Taiwan, if GOI convinces TSMC to set up a semiconductor foundry in India, I will consider it a major diplomatic and strategic victory for us. That is how low my benchmarks are for GOI.

A year after a showdown on 'the roof of the world,' India is gearing up to take on China at sea
Benjamin Brimelow, Jun 3, 2021

Last year, an all-out brawl between Chinese and Indian troops along the disputed Sino-Indian border killed 20 Indian and at least four Chinese soldiers.
The medieval-style battle in the Himalayas showed that the countries' rivalry is entering a new phase of intensity.
"China is definitely factoring larger and larger in India's defense strategy today," Timothy Heath, a senior international and defense researcher at the Rand Corporation think tank, told Insider.
The military focus of that rivalry has primarily been on the ground, as reflected by the buildup in the Himalayas, but another area is growing in importance: the Indian Ocean.
With some of the world's most important trade routes running through it, the Indian Ocean's value is hard to understate, which China has already recognized.
"Given its importance for China, it's pretty obvious the Chinese are elevating in priority the security needs for the maritime silk road," Heath said. "That means India has to be ready for possible situations involving China."
But Indian dominance in its home waters is far from assured. While India's navy has some advanced capabilities, China's People's Liberation Army Navy, or PLAN, is substantially larger and more sophisticated.
With the rivalry entering a new phase, India is trying to catch up.
The Indian navy isn't small or weak. Its primary combatants include 10 destroyers, 13 frigates, 17 submarines, and one aircraft carrier.
A number of India's warships, like its Kolkata-class destroyers and Shivalik-class frigates, were commissioned within the last decade and have stealth capabilities.
Some Indian ships have modern vertical launching systems and are armed with Russian and Israeli anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles. India's navy also has the BrahMos supersonic missile, a joint Indian-Russian design that is one of the fastest missiles in the world.
Two of India's submarines are nuclear-powered: one attack submarine (SSN) on loan from Russia and one Arihant-class domestically designed and built ballistic-missile submarine (SSBN) — the first SSBN for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

China Thought They’d Beaten COVID, Now the Indian Variant Is Surging
China has canceled hundreds of flights and locked down several streets in Guangzhou over the spread of the Indian variant of COVID-19.
Barbie Latza Nadeau, Correspondent-At-Large, Jun. 01, 2021

The Chinese government has taken the drastic measure of canceling hundreds of flights and locking down several streets in the city of Guangzhou, which has a population of over 15.3 million, because of the rapid spread of the Indian variant of COVID-19.
The bustling city has had, until now, very few reported cases, but since the weekend, the number of new infections tied to the variant first identified in India and now known as the Delta variant, has been doubling daily, according to Chinese state media, which often under reports statistics about the pandemic.
“In this race against the virus, we must run a bit ahead and run faster than before in order to block the spread of the virus and cut off the infection chain in time,” Huang Guanglie, director of the Guangzhou municipal health commission said Tuesday.
Since Sunday, hundreds of flights have been canceled into and out of Guangdong Baiyun international airport in an attempt to contain the fast spread. The municipal government also banned all residents of Guangzhou from leaving the city without a so-called “green pass” on their state-run COVID-19 apps.
Inside dining has also been prohibited in much of the city, and in lockdown communities, only one person can leave the house to buy essential goods.
The lockdowns are reminiscent of the beginning of the pandemic, when Wuhan became the first epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, which quickly spread to Italy and then the rest of the world. China has reported just 91,122 cases of COVID-19 and 4,636 related deaths since the pandemic began, a figure that is considered modest.

ICON SHAREHOLDERS FILE SUIT
SAY CHINESE OWNERS ARE TAKING TECHNOLOGY

The suit filed in Delaware Chancery Court against Pudong Science and Technology Investment Co. (PDSTI)—a Chinese firm that owns a majority of Icon shares—wants to block the company from sending proprietary information to China and replace the current Icon board. It also seeks unspecified damages.

“Defendants have illegally breached, and continue to breach, their fiduciary duties to ICON and plaintiffs in order to facilitate the expropriation of ICON’s intellectual property in aircraft design, aircraft manufacturing, and advanced carbon-fiber structures manufacturing to China,” according to the suit by 35 minority shareholders filed on June 1.

China's Stealthy New Fighter Just Made an Appearance in the Wild
Observers spotted China’s FC-31 “Gyrfalcon” fighter jet at a naval aviation training facility.

The FC-31 has been around for nearly 10 years without securing a role in the Chinese military.

The jet will likely replace China’s current carrier fighter, the Shenyang J-15.

A fighter jet that China’s military once considered a white elephant appears to have finally secured a role as the country’s newest carrier fighter.

Observers recently spotted the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation FC-31 Gyrfalcon (formerly known as the J-31), which has been in development since the early 2010s, at a naval aviation training facility in Wuhan. The fighter bears a strong resemblance to American fifth-generation fighters like the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Army strengthens Mountain Strikes Corps looking after China border
Source: ANI - Edited By: Roshneesh Kmaneck
April 09, 2021

Further strengthening its deployments along the Northern borders, the Indian Army is adding around 10,000 more troops to its only mountain strike corps responsible for looking after offensive operations along the China border.
The strengthening of the Mountain Strike Corps is part of the steps taken by the force to rebalance its focus more towards the Chinese border from the western front with Pakistan.
An existing Division formation, with around 10,000 troops, located in the Eastern sector has now been assigned to the 17 Mountain Strike Corps headquartered in West Bengal's Panagarh, government sources said.

Army buys 17 boats to move troops faster at Pangong Tso amid India-China stalemate at LAC
Amrita Nayak Dutta, 12/6/2021

New Delhi: The Indian Army has bought 17 flat bottomed boats, the majority of them to be deployed at the Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh for rapid deployment of troops in case of contingencies, The Print has learnt.
The development comes following the months-long standoff with China at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) last year.
While both India and China disengaged from the contentious Pangong Tso area in March this year — after multiple rounds of talks at the military and diplomatic level between the two countries — there has been no further breakthrough, with China refusing to pull back its troops from Hot Springs and Gogra Post.
According to top defence sources, the boats will be procured from Goa-based Aquarius Shipyard Pvt Ltd, the shipyard that built the sailing vessel Thuriya on which Indian Navy’s Commander Abhilash Tomy embarked on the prestigious Golden Globe race from France in 2018.
Similar boats are already in service with the Indian Navy, the sources added.
The delivery of the first few boats has already begun and is set to be completed by September. A majority of them will be inducted in eastern Ladakh for now. The rest could be deployed at other locations, as and when required.
The boats, measuring 35 feet in length, will have the capacity to carry about 20-22 people, including crew. They can move at a speed of 20 knots, which is approximately 37 kmph. A source told ThePrint that while the boats have not been fitted with any weapons at present, they could be equipped with light weapons when needed in the future.

The G7 has unveiled a global infrastructure plan called “Build Back Better World (B3W) to counter Beijing's multi-trillion-dollar Belt And Road Initiative(BRI).

“Build Back Better World" (B3W), will be a values-driven, high-standard, and transparent infrastructure partnership led by major democracies and intended to facilitate the building of infrastructure in poorer nations, a US government statement said.

“The adoption of the US-inspired “Build Back Better World” (B3W) project came after President Joe Biden and leaders met to address “strategic competition with China and commit to concrete actions to help meet the tremendous infrastructure need in low- and middle-income countries”, a statement by the White House read.

B3W initiative, will provide a transparent infrastructure partnership to help narrow the $40 trillion needed by developing nations by 2035, the White House said.

“B3W will collectively catalyze hundreds of billions of dollars of infrastructure investment for low- and middle-income countries in the coming years,” said the White House.

It further said, the G-7 is more transparent with respect to its funding as opposed to China. The B3W project plans to put more emphasis on the environment and climate, labor safeguards, transparency, and anti-corruption.

In a veiled criticism of China's approach to financing BRI projects, the White House said B3W investments would be led by “a responsible and market-driven private sector, paired with high standards and transparency in public funding”.

“This is not just about confronting or taking on China,” a senior official in Biden’s administration said. “But until now we haven’t offered a positive alternative that reflects our values, our standards and our way of doing business.” the statement added.

The 47th G7 summit is currently being held in Cornwall in the UK. Participants include the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US and representatives from the European Union.

The new infrastructure plan is recognition of the growing challenge mounted by Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative, a mammoth infrastructure project, with the most ambitious being the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), linking China’s Xinjiang province with the Arabian Sea.

More than 100 countries have signed agreements with China to cooperate in BRI projects like railways, ports, highways and other infrastructure. Given that many BRI projects have led to debt restructurings, it has faced strong domestic opposition in various countries. Chinese has faced accusations of operating as predatory lender.

Dr Fauci, Peter Daszak and more: The damning involvement of American scientists and bureaucrats in suppressing truth about Covid origins
https://www.opindia.com/2021/06/dr-anth ... ronavirus/
...
Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says intelligence officials actively abetted the CCP in covering up the origins of COVID-19

In addition to this, the revelations made by the former American Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently further add to the murky role of the US officials in helping China to cover up the coronavirus outbreak. Pompeo recently issued a statement, saying that the US intelligence officials did not want the world to know that China was covering up the origins of the coronavirus.

In an interview with Fox News, the former Trump administration official said there were “folks all over the intelligence community” who did not want to link the genesis of COVID-19 to the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.

Pompeo also alleged that his team faced bureaucratic hurdles when they attempted to declassify intelligence on the Wuhan lab and share it with the American public during the final year of the Trump administration. He said the bureaucrats were helping the Chinese Communist Party to cover its tracks, which might have resulted in several million losses of life.

In his interview, Pompeo said there were “big fights” over the declassification of intelligence on the origin of the coronavirus pandemic, and blamed officials at the National Institutes of Health for the same.

“We worked scrupulously to get the intelligence community to declassify more. [Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe] was a great partner in trying to do that, but there were folks all over the community who just didn’t want to talk about this, who wanted to stay focused on other things,” Pompeo said while speaking on The Ingraham Angle show on Fox News.

Earlier in May 2021, Pompeo had alleged that Wuhan Institute of Virology was involved in engaged in military activity alongside its civilian research amidst the renewed focus on the institute’s involvement in bequeathing the intractable contagion to the world.

“What I can say for sure is this: we know that they were engaged in efforts connected to the People’s Liberation Army inside of that laboratory, so military activity being performed alongside what they claimed was just good old civilian research,” Pompeo said on Fox & Friends Weekend.

A better communiqué on B3W from the White House website

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-roo ... rtnership/
The United States is rallying the world’s democracies to deliver for our people, meet the world’s biggest challenges, and demonstrate our shared values

Today President Biden met with G7 leaders to discuss strategic competition with China and commit to concrete actions to help meet the tremendous infrastructure need in low- and middle-income countries.

Build Back Better World: An Affirmative Initiative for Meeting the Tremendous Infrastructure Needs of Low- and Middle-Income Countries. President Biden and G7 partners agreed to launch the bold new global infrastructure initiative Build Back Better World (B3W), a values-driven, high-standard, and transparent infrastructure partnership led by major democracies to help narrow the $40+ trillion infrastructure need in the developing world, which has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through B3W, the G7 and other like-minded partners with coordinate in mobilizing private-sector capital in four areas of focus—climate, health and health security, digital technology, and gender equity and equality—with catalytic investments from our respective development finance institutions.

B3W will be global in scope, from Latin America and the Caribbean to Africa to the Indo-Pacific. Different G7 partners will have different geographic orientations, but the sum of the initiative will cover low- and middle-income countries across the world.

In announcing this partnership, the United States and its G7 partners are expressing a unified vision for global infrastructure development. As a lead partner in B3W, the United States will seek to mobilize the full potential of our development finance tools, including the Development Finance Corporation, USAID, EXIM, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and complementary bodies such as the Transaction Advisory Fund. In doing so, the Biden Administration aims to complement domestic infrastructure investments in the American Jobs Plan and create new opportunities to demonstrate U.S. competitiveness abroad and create jobs at home.

In addition to the billions of dollars which the United States mobilizes in overseas infrastructure financing through existing bilateral and multilateral tools, we will work with Congress to augment our development finance toolkit with the hope that, together with the private sector, other U.S. stakeholders, and G7 partners, B3W will collectively catalyze hundreds of billions of dollars of infrastructure investment for low- and middle-income countries in the coming years.

Together with leaders of the G7, the Biden Administration fully endorses the guiding principles of B3W:

Values-Driven. Infrastructure development carried out in a transparent and sustainable manner—financially, environmentally, and socially —will lead to a better outcome for recipient countries and communities. We will offer countries a positive vision and a sustainable, transparent source of financing to meet their infrastructure needs.
Good Governance and Strong Standards. High standards have become ever more important at a time when governments are grappling with complex decisions on how to tackle climate change, build back local economies, direct scarce financing, and boost employment in an inclusive way. We are committed to providing citizens of recipient communities with the long-run benefits they expect and deserve from infrastructure projects. Our efforts will be guided by high standards and principles, such as those promoted by the updated Blue Dot Network, relating to the environment and climate, labor and social safeguards, transparency, financing, construction, anticorruption, and other areas.
Climate-Friendly. The investments will be made in a manner consistent with achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Strong Strategic Partnerships. Infrastructure that is developed in partnership with those whom it benefits will last longer and generate more development impact. Infrastructure created under the B3W will be developed through consultation with communities and assessing local needs as a true partners. We will establish a taskforce together as a G7, and with others, to coordinate, harmonize our efforts, and increase our impact and reach.
Mobilize Private Capital Through Development Finance. Status quo funding and financing approaches are inadequate to address the tremendous infrastructure gap in low- and middle-income countries. We are committed to augmenting the development finance tools at our disposal to support and catalyze a significant increase in private capital to address infrastructure needs. Infrastructure investment by a responsible and market-driven private sector, paired with high standards and transparency in public funding, is crucial for long-run development effectiveness and sustainability.
Enhancing the Impact of Multilateral Public Finance. Multilateral development banks and other international financial institutions (IFIs) have developed rigorous standards for project planning, implementation, social and environmental safeguards, and analytical capability. The United States will incorporate these standards and safeguards to help ensure that U.S. taxpayer resources are used appropriately and effectively. We will work with the IFIs to enhance their catalytic impact and increase the mobilization of capital—both public and private—needed for impactful and sustainable infrastructure investment.
More detail will be included in the G7 Leaders’ Communique.
This mere announcement will deflate B&RI and bring Xitler's dreams crashing down to earth. Because in a capitalist system, everyone can make more money instead of selling one's shirt to the Chinese.

How the G7 economies that have printed absurd sums of money to get themselves out of the Covid crisis, can lead this effort financially remains to be seen. But there is a huge potential to generate economic activity and India should get onboard this initiative to increase its reach and expand the work its been doing in IOR at the very least. We have expert manpower, raw & processed materials, all kinds of industrial equipment and project management expertise to offer at competitive costs.

The greatest irony would be that B3W ends up sourcing a lot of these from China again, defeating the objective. India joining this initiative unequivocally with a friendly mercantile outlook is imperative to prevent that. And for India's own security and getting a strong foot hold in future global economic drivers, we should join and play this game instead of sitting on the non-aligned wall, mostly alone.

I believe we are ready for it.

Scientists Sound Alarm on ‘Imminent Radiological Threat’ at Chinese Nuclear Plant

French nuclear power company Framatome said on Monday it has detected a “performance issue” at the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant, which it operates in partnership with the state-owned China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN).

Framatome took the highly unusual step of warning the U.S. government about an “imminent radiological threat” from the plant, located in Guangdong province near Hong Kong.

Framatome and its parent company EDF said on Monday that according to available data, “the plant is operating within safety parameters,” but a troubling “increase in the concentration of certain noble gases” was detected in the primary circuit of the cooling system at one of the plant’s two nuclear reactors.

CGN said on Sunday that both reactors at the plant are “operating according to nuclear safety rules and regulations,” and conditions in the surrounding environment “meet normal parameters.” Both CGN and the Chinese government resisted making any comments about the plant until persistent media inquiries prompted Sunday’s brief statement.

Framatome’s alleged message to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) last week was somewhat more alarming than the statements released on Sunday and Monday.

According to left-wing American news agency CNN, which claimed to obtain the documents on Monday, Framatome accused Chinese safety officials of “raising the acceptable limits for radiation detection outside the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant in Guangdong province in order to avoid having to shut it down.”

CNN claimed, failing to cite on-the-record sources, that U.S. officials took the June 8 warning seriously but concluded the situation at the Taishan nuclear plant has not reached “crisis level” and decided to give Framatome, CGN, and Chinese authorities some time to resolve the problem:

Concern was significant enough that the National Security Council held multiple meetings last week as they monitored the situation, including two at the deputy level and another gathering at the assistant secretary level on Friday, which was led by NSC Senior Director for China Laura Rosenberger and Senior Director for Arms Control Mallory Stewart, according to US officials.

The Biden administration has discussed the situation with the French government and their own experts at the Department of Energy, sources said. The US has also been in contact with the Chinese government, US officials said, though the extent of that contact is unclear.

The US government declined to explain the assessment but officials at the NSC, State Department and the Department of Energy insisted that if there were any risk to the Chinese public, the US would be required to make it known under current treaties related to nuclear accidents.

Analysts quoted by CNN said Framatome contacted DOE to request waivers that would let them share “American technical assistance” with staff at the plant to help them address the situation. Other analysts weighing on the story noted that CGN is a blacklisted entity in the United States, so Framatome could risk triggering secondary sanctions that would damage its U.S. business dealings by sharing American technology or expertise with Taishan staff unless it obtained exemptions in advance.

As of Monday, most outside experts agreed there was no indication of a serious environmental threat from the plant; the major topic of controversy are Chinese officials unilaterally raising the standards for radiation detection to a level that made the French company uncomfortable, and the Chinese government’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge any problems – an attitude unnervingly reminiscent of a certain previous crisis at a nuclear reactor run by Communists, and of the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak.

Chinese state media has thus far avoided reporting on the situation at the nuclear reactor, while the few mentions of the situation on state-linked social media accounts have treated Western coverage of the story as a scurrilous attempt to slander the Chinese government.

Wang Yigang of China’s Institute of Industrial Economics complained about “American imperialism hyping up opposition to nuclear power and forcing China to develop wind and solar power only,” which is identical to the language Chinese officials employ to dismiss questions about the possible origins of Chinese coronavirus at a laboratory in Wuhan, and somewhat amusing given the traditional attitude of most Western environmental groups toward nuclear power in the U.S. and Europe.

EDF said on Monday that the buildup of noble gases in the Taishan reactor is a “known phenomenon, studied and provided for in the reactor operating procedures.”

The French energy giant, which owns 30 percent of the Taishan plant, said it has called an “extraordinary meeting” with its Chinese partners to review data from the reactor.

The Taishan power plant is located about 85 miles from Hong Kong. It provides power to the huge Chinese manufacturing hubs in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, areas which have been experiencing chronic power shortages over the past month due to hot weather and low production from nearby hydroelectric plants.

The No. 2 reactor at Taishan recently completed an “overhaul” for unspecified reasons and was reconnected to the power grid on June 10, two days after Framatome asked for help from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Not sure if this is the correct thread.

There are some "whispers" of some nuclear accident/"leak" in Taishan plant.

China Nuclear Plant Leak Response Evokes Chernobyl as Taishan Facility Insists It's Safe
By Jack Dutton On 6/14/21

The U.S. government reportedly spent the last week assessing allegations of a leak at a Chinese nuclear power plant, after a French company that part-owns and helps operate it warned of an "immediate radiological threat."
The Chinese plant denied the allegations and said that its generators are functioning normally, evoking memories for some of the lack of transparency around previous nuclear disasters.
A letter from France-based Framatome to the U.S. Department of Energy warned that the Chinese safety authority has been raising the acceptable limits of radiation detected outside the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant in Guangdong province in order to avoid having to shut it down, CNN reported on Sunday.
The letter sought to obtain a waiver to share U.S. technical assistance with the Taishan plant, claiming that the radiation limits were above French safety standards.
Framatome, a designer and supplier of nuclear equipment and services that's owned by Électricité de France, was contracted to help construct and operate the plant.

How Communist China Weaponizes Healthcare and Medicine Against Foreign Adversaries—Cleo Paskal

India’s second wave of COVID-19 has prompted growing questions and suspicions of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) involvement, following a deadly border clash last year.

In this episode, we sit down with Cleo Paskal, an expert on the Chinese Communist Party and its Indo-Pacific strategy, to understand how the CCP systematically exploits the weaknesses of its adversaries.

In the Chinese communist playbook, anything can be weaponized, from using apps like TikTok to subtly influence the minds of America’s youth to deprive people of life-saving treatment if they don’t toe the Communist Party line, Paskal says. Cleo Paskal is an associate fellow at Chatham House.

Folks, I would like us to take a pause in this thread.
It's about 145 pages long.
We just ramble on in the old Indian way of verbosity and everything but important stuff.
Have we defined what is Chinese threat to India?
And what do we care if it poses threat to the US, Europe, or China?
Expect in a secondary way.
For example, China squeezing Russia has a direct impact on Indian military readiness.
China squeezing the US makes them friendly to India.
Same with Europe.
