This is one wild story.
There is a Reality TV Show in the US called "The Bachelor". Basically, cosmetically-enhanced airhead wimmins vie for the attention of a sharply-dressed airhead man and millions of airheads watch this on television week after week.
So what happened?
1) One particular airhead wimmins, called Rachael Kirkconnell, had apparently (years ago in college) attended a dance party which had as its theme "The Old South".
In Woke circles this is total haraam-- like the Confederate flag, any hint of celebrating the culture of pre-Civil-War Southern United States is considered appallingly racist.
2) A full-two social media mob went after Kirkconnell, demanding she be fired from the show etc.
3) At some point the host of the show, a mild-mannered chap named Chris Harrison, gave an interview in which he did not defend the contestant but rather pleaded for leniency on her behalf. She was just a kid, etc. Basically he said without saying that why go after an airheaded wimmins who appears on reality TV shows for something she did when she had even worse judgment than she displays on television today.
Harrison even condemned the idea of an "Old South"-themed dance party. BUT regarding Kirkconnell's offence he said “We all need to have a little grace, a little understanding, a little compassion."
Interviewer kept pressing him to condemn Kirkconnell. At which point Harrison sealed his fate by saying
I am not the woke police, there’s plenty of people that will do that for us right now.
4) AoA!! Now the full-two social media mob started demanding that Harrison also be fired! So much so that the poor guy had to "step back" from his position as host of "The Bachelor".
Think about it. As the article says: this is not even guilt by association.
It is guilt by refusal to join in condemnation.
This is an important indicator of the direction in which the US is now headed. There is a Q-Anon "cult of Trump" on one side and this type of whackjob Woke-ism on the other side. The Civil War of 1861-65 was based at least in part on a solid economic rationale centered around slavery and agricultural production. The upcoming civil war will be nothing like that. It is based on religion. It is a mutual jihad such as no society has seen since the Catholic-vs-Protestant Thirty Years' War in Europe, or perhaps certain Shia-Sunni conflicts in West Asia.
Prepare to watch competing Abrahamisms eat each other.
