Pakistan-Iran Bhai Bhai

Pakistanis decline US request to intervene in Iran's internal affairs
TEHRAN, Mar. 17 (MNA) – Pakistani authorities denied requests by Americans to facilitate some people's entry into Iran during the recent sporadic protests in the country in late December and early January.A Pakistani diplomat announced that the Americans called on Pakistani authorities to facilitate some people’s entry into Iran territory and provide them with the necessary support during the recent civilian protests in Iran in order to foment and exploit civil unrest against the government that faced with a decisive response from the Pakistani authorities, reported paktribune.com. He declined to know if Pakistan was the only country that was requested such. The US ambassador in Islamabad has been conveying Trump’s government’s request to Pakistani officials.Referring to the tense policies of US in the region, he said that, “the relations between Islamabad and Tehran are important and strategic for us, and we are not willing to undermine these relations to ourselves. Also Islamabad does not interfere in any way in the affairs of the neighboring countries, he added.Several gatherings in various cities of Iran were held on the end of December following the rising of life expenses and in protest to the economic policies of the Iranian government.
Primary source of this farticle is a Paki newspaper ( paktribune.com.) . It is the Pakis, who go out of the way to woo Iran , whenever they are "ticked off" with USA !. IMO, this is the case now ! When things improve with Massa,( military and economic aid resumes !) or Saudia "threatens" they ditch Iran.! Their pretensions of neutrality in the Sunni - Shia tiff is BS

Promotion Of "Enemy Language Hindi" Falls Prey
To Prejudice And Paki Politics :D

Past Haunts the Present in Pakistan's Only Hindi Department
On a cold, breezy afternoon, there is usual fervour on Kutchehry Road in Lahore. Rickshaws ply to and fro, small crowds gather outside shops that line the narrow street, a little boy sells newspapers around the corner, the tea stall is cramped with people, and college students loiter around the age-old Oriental College building. The back gate of the glorious red brick building of Punjab University’s old campus opens into this historical street. It is the same Kutchehry Road that Bhagat Singh took for escaping after pumping bullets into British police officer John P. Saunders. From the back gate, the left path leads to a small garden lined up with trees. Behind the bushes is a rusty, half-concealed blue display board on a wall. As one draws close, a rather surreal moment unfolds – the board reads in English, Urdu and Hindi, something one would expect to see only in pre-Partition Lahore.‘Hindi Department, Hindi Vibhagh, Shoba-e-Hindi’, are the words in all three languages displayed on the board outside the building. The Paki Goberment cannot be said to "promote" Hindi in this bastion of Pakiland, which is La-Whore :D
An old man guides me to a claustrophobic staircase that takes me to the first floor where the Hindi department is located. The shabby but spacious hall has four rooms: a reception, a library, a classroom and an office. The cracked walls, flaking paint, broken windows and crumbling doors tell gloomy tales of a lost heritage. At the other end of the staircase is another hall that might have served as a classroom at some point. Placed inside are 12 chairs covered in dust, an antique cabinet, and a Hindi varnamala (alphabet) chart hanging on the wall as a teaching aid. The same fate awaits religious shrines like temples and gurdwaras of the Islamic land where Malsi runs supreme !
The University of Punjab was formally established in October 1882. After three universities were set up in Bombay, Madras and Calcutta, Punjab University was the fourth one to be established by the British in Lahore. Most of the colleges affiliated with the University of Punjab were on the Indian side. Hence, at the time of Partition, it was decided that the University of the Punjab, Lahore, would conduct examinations on both sides of the border.
As narrated by Krishen Khanna in the book ‘City of Sin and Splendour: Writings on Lahore’, the registrar of the university, Madan Gopal Singh, had to travel to Lahore from Shimla to fetch some university records. He left a note for Khanna’s father saying, “See you when I get back, that is if I get back.” His fears were well founded as he was murdered on the campus.
As I enter, a woody scent of old books emanates from the library that stands right opposite the admin room. There’s a huge collection of Hindi books. “Every year, the department orders books from India. The books are ordered through the Academy Book Centre whose bookshop is located on Temple Road.” says the librarian. The shelves are divided into different sections – poetry, literature and critique. I chance upon several interesting books in Hindi by authors such as Munshi Premchand, Bhisham Sahni, Saadat Hassan Manto, Amrita Pritam, Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Ghalib.
I briefly get to meet the dean Saleem Mazhar whose office is right opposite the Oriental College building. Mazhar says Oriental College has a certain historical significance and moving only the Hindi department to the New Campus wouldn’t be appropriate.
Then, with a smirk, he says, “I am pushing the vice chancellor to introduce a M.A. Hindi programme because it is more important to learn the language of enemies than friends.”
 Such attitudes from an "academic" does not bode well for a positive relations between India and Pakistan in the near future or in the long term, "Kashmir settlement" or no Kashmir settlement. India is the perpetual enemy of Pakistan !

I know - was just hoping that the son of the soil gets what is rightfully his. No crime to live in hope :-(

If we are lucky, Mahdi Hamid and some influential voices may take up the cry, will cause at least some discomfort internationally.

Article in Geo that Police have registered a case against a 30 year old man for marrying a pre teen 11 year old girl child.:

Thirty-year-old forcibly marries 11-year-old in Ubauro

In the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan which claims for itself status as an Ideological Muslim State and Islamic Republic, would not registering a case against the groom for emulating the practises of the founder of Mohammaddenism per Mohammadden text of Hadith number 69 of book number 67 of Sahih al-Bukhari, constitute a haram act on the part of the Police and call for Jihad, Bull Cutletting aka Wajib ul Qatal or some such? The cited Shahih al-Bukhari hadith says that the founder of the Mohammadden belief who when around 51/52 years old married a girl child aged 6 and consummated marriage when the girl child turned 9 and he was around 54/55 years old. Refer link to hadith of Shahi Bukhari and text therefrom posted below.

that the Prophet (ﷺ) married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).

Sham Tussle- Pretense Of A Vibrant Democracy - Between ISI and Judiciary - Going By The Below Two Reports !

SC orders ISI to get its act together
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday rejected the report submitted by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) on last year’s Faizabad sit-in by religious zealots, terming it “unsatisfactory”.The apex court had taken notice of the weeks-long anti-government protest and the subsequent agreement between the government and protesters.A two-member bench of the apex court, comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Qazi Faiz Eesa, resumed the hearing of a suo motu case regarding the sit-in.
“A journalist would have given more details [about the protests] than this report,” Justice Qazi Faiz Eesa remarked, ordering  the country’s premier intelligence agency to submit a new report within two weeks.
He said that the intelligence agency — just like the judiciary — was “answerable to tax-payers”. Is Ganja laughing !
Justice Alam questioned why the ISI did not mention the source of Khadim Rizvi’s income, bank accounts and whether he pays tax or not. “This report is frightening me,” he said. “He [Rizvi] destroyed property worth billions yet no one knows what he does,” Justice Eesa remarked during the hearing. ISI on the docks ? Hard to believe. ! More like a wink - wink , nod-nod kind of situation, IMO
When Justice Eesa inquired about the occupation of Faizabad protests’ most influential figure, Khadim Hussain Rizvi, he was told that the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYR) chief was a “religious lecturer”. Colonel Falak Naz was representing the Defence Ministry in the hearing. “Is ‘religious lecturer’ a profession?” Justice Eesa asked, inquiring about Rizvi’s tax status and bank account. Colonel Naz responded that Rizvi lived on donations. The "justices" are well aware of crossing ISI "Red Lines"
“Then mention that he is being financially supported by others,” the judge said. Rizvi and the ISI are handled by kids gloves !
When Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Sohail Mahmood, who appeared on behalf of the federal government, said the ISI revealed that he is reportedly corrupt, the bench asked him to explain how he did corruption. The court pointed out that the report did not answer the questions raised by the court and ordered the ISI to submit a new report within two weeks, while suggesting that it can conduct an in-camera hearing if a sensitive issue is involved. The court also ordered the attorney general to appear in the next hearing which was adjourned until two weeks. When Senate "Elections" ( and general elections too !) can be easily fixed by ISI , solving this irritation of Rizvi and his TLYR Party is "small stuff" for them.
The ISI report states that the intelligence agency had recommended that the federal government avoid the use of force and resolve the issue peacefully through negotiations with TLYR. However, despite the recommendation, the government launched an operation against the sit-in as per the Islamabad High Court’s orders which sparked countrywide protests. The complete profiles of the leadership of the protesters – Rizvi, Dr Muhammad Ashraf Asif Jalali, and Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri – have also been attached to the 46-page report.
It terms Rizvi “reportedly corrupt” when it comes to financial matters, but also that he appears to be living within his means. It also notes that he has shown an inclination towards misuse of power, the authorities, and resources. The report also terms Rizvi’s overall reputation “unsatisfactory”.He is also listed as being “arrogant” with his superiors, “harsh” with his subordinates, and “committed” to his cause.
Regarding support for protesters, the report says that generous donations by people from across society, especially the Barelvi sect, sustained the dharna. A large number of registered madaris affiliated with the group raised large sums in donations. During the dharna, many affluent persons from across the globe also contributed financially. The report also says that the owner of the TV station Channel 92, Mian Abdul Rasheed of Faisalabad, provided food. It also states that Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, PML-Z chief Ejazul Haq, PTI Ulema Wing Islamabad, and PPP leader Sheikh Hameed supported the Faizabad sit-in. Also included on the list of supporters was columnist and TV commentator Oriya Maqbool Jan. The report has also identified six lawyers and three trade union leaders as supporting the dharna without explaining how they supported the protesters. Anything in the ISI Report above an Army Major General handing out cash to Rizvi supporters

Faizabad sit-in case: ATC orders arrest of Khadim Rizvi, Qadri
ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday ordered the arrest of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi, Pir Afzal Qadri and other absconding suspects in a case pertaining to the Faizabad sit-in held last year.During proceedings of the case, the ATC directed that Rizvi and Qadri be arrested and presented in court on April 4. On March 5, the ATC had declared Rizvi, Qadri, Maulana Inayat and Sheikh Izhar as absconders in the case for failing to appear before the court after repeated summons. The ATC also stated that if the accused were not produced in court within the next 30 days, they would be declared proclaimed offenders.Workers of the religious party had protested against the government at Faizabad Interchange of Islamabad for around three weeks in November last year, bringing the capital to a standstill. Stay tuned for the next chapter :D

MoI accepts Musharraf’s request for security
KARACHI: Accepting the request of General (r) Pervez Musharraf, the Ministry of Interior said on Monday that it would provide security to the former dictator upon his arrival in Pakistan and during the appearance in court. In a notification released on Monday, the ministry said it would be provide security to the former president. Once in Pakiland, it will be difficult for him to "escape" out !
On Friday, the special court hearing high treason case against the former military dictator had allowed the federal government to suspend the passport and national identity card of the accused. It is a cat and mouse chase . As long as Ganja and his Party are nominally in charge, the harassment of Mush is bound to continue . Mush's lawyers are employing delaying tactics. No serious person expects him to come back and "face justice"

Paki Journo Suffers Writer's Block In Penning A Few Words On Sir Lal Topi. :D

Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid
Hasan Aftab Saeed
Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid hardly needs an introduction. The quintessence of multidimensionality (senior analyst, leading intellectual, reformer, man of letters, orator, Islam’s Renaissance – and Re-Renaissance – man, revolutionary, military strategist par excellence, and the foremost authority on Iqbal), he is the paragon of selflessness, industry and scrupulousness. Just when the nation’s challenges appeared utterly insurmountable, the extraordinary vision and insight of Hamid came to its timely rescue…
Having typed this far, it’s obvious to me that it will be useless to continue along this line. That’s because all I have produced is a string of tired clichés that (at best) have a tenuous relationship with reality. Also, it’s silly to go on extoling the virtues of a man after stating that he needs no introduction. And what does ‘senior analyst’ even mean when no living soul in Pakistan has ever heard or seen a junior analyst?
Senior anal-ist may mean that he has "tones of juniors" working under his " guidance"
I vividly remember that sunny spring day in 2009 that proved to be the turning point of my (then) mediocre career (I was a lowly crime reporter associated with a minor daily). The great Zaid Zaman had graciously – and quite surprisingly – consented to grant my newspaper an interview. The Almighty sure works in mysterious ways, for it so happened that all our political and defense reporters were either sick or out of town, and it fell upon me to interview the great man. This was a problem: Zaid Hamid was a living-legend while my experience was limited to reporting/interviewing small-time criminals. So it was that when I arrived at his residence I was shaking like a fig leaf. Such was my agitated state that in my clumsiness I toppled a side-table and knocked two expensive looking crystals off the mantel. It was the most harrowing experience of my life, but one that I came out a champion at the other end of. From that day on I was more than equal to any challenge that came my way. I won the interview-of-the-year award; and it was only the beginning. All the best newspapers now wanted me, and the public just couldn’t get enough of me. I switched to TV and was soon interviewing all the famous people. My book on the art of interviewing celebrities, which became an instant best-seller, started being taught in journalism programs across the country. As if this was not humbling enough, international renown was around the corner, as… It seems that this reporter too does not believe the BS spewed by this "senior anal-ist!
I am afraid I must stop here. For this is more a fond tribute to myself – Zaid Hamid appears to be behind even the background. Not to mention the fact that none of it ever happened.
I seems like yesterday that I was judging young Zaid along with other participants in a primary-school debating contest. It was then that I first saw an ungainly boy, clad in shorts and a polo-shirt, shyly making his way to the little podium. His speech was an absolute mess, midway through which he felt humiliated enough to storm off stage.
Imagine my delightful surprise as I saw him grow, over the years, first into a feisty young man, and later into a sharp mind with a penchant for rhetoric, philosophy and nation-building. Not to mention his "inside sources" in the Paki Deep State :D
This too is an obvious non-starter because calling somebody who is senior to one by a good decade ‘young Zaid’ is hardly appropriate.
I was one of the thousands of patriots from all segments of society that had thronged the airport at 4 AM to welcome our hero, the great Zaid Hamid, when he returned home in Oct 2015 after being released from a jail (where he was tortured !) in Saudi Arabia.
I am afraid I am again off to a bad start here. While the incident is not completely a figment of my imagination, and something like this did happen, it wasn’t as much a throng as a small group (as per news reports, the news crew outnumbered the ‘crowd’ by three to one). And at least half of them were holding placards reading ‘Down with Zaid Hamid’ (some were carrying rotten eggs too). He has since been rehabilitated by the Deep State and is again singing paeans on behalf of Pakiland !
[/color]
This obviously won’t work either, for how can any of it make any sense to the hapless reader when it’s making absolutely no sense to the writer?
*I have a feeling this project was doomed to fail from the very outset. Perhaps it’s beyond my limited abilities to do justice to such a colossus of a man. With this humble admission, I end with the hope that worthier souls will someday take up the project yielding worthier results.

The Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan has indeed wrested the distinction from Central African Republic (2nd Worst), Afghanistan (3rd Worst), Somalia (4th Worst), Lesotho, Guinea-Bissau, South Sudan, Côte d’lvoire, Mali and Chad (10th Worst). The only Islami Atami Takaat is now the “the riskiest place to be born”.

See Page marked 11 {Page 17 of PDF} of UNICEF Report titled “Every Child Alive : The Urgent Need To End Newborn Deaths”.

Excerpt:
Where babies are dying

Rates of newborn mortality vary among and within countries. In many countries, there is little risk that a mother or baby will die during childbirth or soon after. In others, the days before, during and after the birth are fraught with danger.

The riskiest places to be born

Pakistan is the riskiest place to be born as measured by its newborn mortality rate. For every 1,000 babies born in Pakistan in 2016, 46 died before the end of their first month – a staggering 1 in 22. Of the 10 countries with the highest newborn mortality rates, eight are in sub-Saharan Africa and two are in South Asia.

ISI Support Of Taliban Has Not Stopped - US General !

Pakistani covert support for Taliban revealed
Gen. Joseph L. Votel, commander of the Central Command, disclosed in congressional testimony this week that despite a new U.S. policy of pressuring Pakistan, the Islamabad government is still supporting the Taliban terrorist group in the border region with Afghanistan. Asked during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Tuesday if Pakistan is continuing to back terrorist activity in Afghanistan, Gen. Votel said the U.S. pressure campaign has produced some “positive indicators” of a shift.
An intelligence source close to the Afghan border region said Pakistan’s ISI intelligence service is continuing its covert support for the Taliban in the border region. The source said ISI is providing both protection and material support to the Taliban in areas between Quetta and the Afghan border. So much so for Paki denials !

More details on the fool proof scoority plaaan.
Spectators will need to pass through a roughly four-hour-long, three-tier security clearance procedure before they can enter the stadium.
After the match, the crowd will be transported back to the marshalling area via the shuttle service. Spectators were requested to use the same shuttle service and route they came to the drop zone in.
The residents of the surrounding areas will be requested not to force traffic police officials or members of the security forces to let them approach the stadium directly
No one is allowed to carry eatables from outside the venue.
Ambulances will also be present at the parking area in case of a medical emergency
Spectators are permitted to carry their cellphones, but will not be allowed to carry power banks to charge their phones.
Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather ─ the stadium does not have a roof
On the day of the match, some roads surrounding the stadium will be closed for traffic at 11am.
Rangers personnel will be responsible for the security inside the stadium, while police and other forces will secure the stadium from the outside.
While the match is underway, routes leading to Hassan Square and New Town and the Dalmia road will be closed for traffic.
a total of 8,500 police personnel will be deployed around the stadium
all departments are on the same page 8)
What about air cover by the latest junk fighters? Have the borders been sealed? What about helicopters? How many helicopters will be on hand to evacuate the international players...if ....er...situations demands? Will the spectators have to divulge their religion at the first round of frisking or will it be listed on their tickets? What about going to the rest rooms? Will that person be escorted to the restrooms or wear a diaper? So many loose ends, so little time.

The ISI Wants Sharif Out Of Paki Politics. Experienced Journalist Confirms This .

Project Post-Democracy
Cyril Almeida
AFTER Nawaz, what? Nawaz and Maryam are busy arguing — the deluge. They would. But if you’re neither of them, it’s a real question. Maybe the only question. After Nawaz, what do the boys ( ISI ) have in mind?
Nawaz is going down. He may put up a fight, he may put up an almighty fight, he may increase the cost of trying to shut him out, but he’s fooling no one. The system wants him out. And the system gets its man. All indications, including the recent Senate "elections" point to making Ganja redundant to Paki politics !
— makes it all the more likely Nawaz is politically a dead man walking. It can only be hatred. And hatred is a hard thing to reverse. No love lost between Ganja and ISI
Hold off on an immediate ouster, toss Panama and related paraphernalia into an accountability court, get a conviction there and — gone, finished. Khatam.Or let the appeal linger and finish him off in campaign season proper, if Nawaz still hasn’t got the message by then. But the court chose to hang it on a wretched iqama. Nawaz removed on a mere "technicality" !
But after Nawaz, what? There’s really only — touch wood — two options. The first is to replicate the current political landscape, minus actual politics. There it is: one centre, four different provincial set-ups.
A post-politics, post-big party, Senate and NA is a version of something old, something new. If party-less elections aren’t an option for the democratic veneer, then party-based-minus-defiant-party-leaders elections it has to be.The advantage: it’s less messy; the disadvantage: concentrated power rankles and draws challenge. If you were one of the boys, you’d choose the first option: messy, but diffuse — it really divides and conquers.Luckily for the rest of us, the boys can be their own worst enemy. Prepare for the second option.

a 'unique' gang of four robbers that committed criminal activities for four years under 'standard operating procedures'
the robbers would identify and target women who were wearing jewellery made of real gold and other valuable materials.
The gang would wrap up their criminal activities by 4 pm
The robbers also considered Thursdays and Fridays holidays and would not carry out criminal activities on those days
Why was Thursday an off-day? Did they take break for the daily prayers?

Baki souper leedh ticket update.

3,500 unsold PSL tickets for Lahore play-offs returned to PCB
All tickets worth Rs 1,000 and 2,000 were sold out within the first three days, but despite the passage of 20 days since they first went on sale, match tickets worth Rs4,000 and Rs6,000 remain unsold.
Bhy? Bakistan is the happiest and wealthiest nation in the region. Bakis should be spending. In unhappy India, where the average IPL tickets cost more, all tickets get sold.

A Good Article By Vikram Sood Explaining The Reasons Behind The Harassment Of Indian Diplomats In Pakistan

Pakistan's internal politics guides harassment of Indian diplomats
Vikram Sood

posted in full
New Delhi [India], Mar 19 (ANI): Harassment of Indian diplomats in Pakistan used to be common in the past. Indian diplomats posted in Pakistan would return home after completion of their tour of duty with tales of horrific and obnoxious acts of harassment of their families and children. Certain categories were special targets. Things were presumably quiet in recent times. The recent upsurge is a measure of deteriorating bilateral relations. Pakistan has, as expected, alleged harassment of their mission's staff.
Pakistani reaction may have something to do with India but also something more to do with the internal domestic scene and the forthcoming elections. The Deep State would like the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) relegated and substituted by a party of choice. The PML (N) under Mian Nawaz Sharif has been far too defiant despite all the pressure, the judiciary included, that the Deep State has put on him. A politician even thinking he can be independent of the Army is bad news for the Army and definitely not good for the politician.
The plan at this stage could be to have a less-than-clever man, who is gullible with an outsized ego at the helm. Imran Khan of the Pakistan TehrikInsaf party is assumed to be more suitable. His problem would be to make a dent in the Punjab province and break the hold of the Sharif Bothers. Imran Khan would need props for the Punjab theatre. Mainstreaming Hafiz Saeed of the JUD is presumably to serve multiple purposes. Legitimisation by itself is a virtue for a terrorist organisation, which can now openly collect funds and take part in political activity, Hafiz Saeed can campaign for himself and his associates. This is, however, not a new phenomenon. In 2013, ahead of the general elections, the PML(N) had come to an understanding with the rabidly anti-Shia AhleSunnatWalJamaat for seat-to-seat adjustments. The chief of the rabidly anti-Shia DeobandhiSipah-e-Sahaba, Azam Tariq was three times member of Pakistan's national parliament. He contested his last elections in 2002 while in police custody, provided the crucial one-seat majority to the prime minister, Zafarullah Khan Jamali, under the Musharraf government. Tariq was assassinated in 2003. Pakistani courts have recently allowed registration of Hafiz Saeed's new party Pakistan Milli Muslim League and would be the unknown factor in the elections. If Hafez Suar and his so -called MML is allowed to campaign, and if Hafez wins a seat in the NA,then the Deep State is sending a "message" to US.
Perhaps the biggest recent revelation about the role of Islamists was the Faizabad Interchange by the Barelvireligious group Tehreek-e-LabaikYaRasool Allah (TLYR) Rizvi faction demanding the sacking of interior minister on a religious issue was ultimately sorted out by the Army and protesters were paid cash for leaving. The civilians had abdicated and the Army was the arbiter. This standoff was in November 2017. Increasingly, the one-time peaceful Islamic priests and sometimes even the oddities among them have witnessed how profitable it has been to be a radical cross-border mujahideen and now demand similar treatment. The state cannot call off the jihad it has nurtured because there will thousands of unemployed jihadis on the streets of Lahore and Islamabad. The ATC is "not satisfied" with the ISI Report that was presented to them regarding the "behaviour" of Khadim and his thugs . But this is just another "whitewash" to pretend that ISI is also responsible to the Judiciary !
Thus, we have not only the Army backing their favourite jihadis but also the politicians helping them become mainstream including those groups like the LeT, (JuD's armed wing) that had carried out plotted the Mumbai carnage in 2008. For this to be topically effective, persons like Hafiz Saeed need ammunition to be able to raise the anti-Indian temperature, draw crowds of believers and votes election time. Ratcheting of this tension has begun. We should expect more violence in Kashmir, heightened crossfire at the LOC or the issue of Jadav to resurface. Deteriorated relations with India will also convince the Americans that inclusion of India in solving Afghanistan or even presence there of Indians in Afghanistan is bad news for the US. And then there is the economic pressure on Pakiland, which is not factored in this article. Somehow the Deep State also holds India responsible for this !
There is very little content in India-Pakistan relations. There was never much of it anyway. It is much less now. There is barely any trade and no tourism. Pakistan will not implement the Afghan Transit Treaty; has dragged its feet on granting MFN with 1209 items on the negative list. Exports to India are terror and more terror. That being so, there is little point in maintaining such large missions there, and if our policy is to ignore Pakistan until they learn to behave like a responsible neighbour (as this writer has been recommending on the past) we should have downgraded our embassy representation a long time ago. Downsizing should be done !
The recent withdrawal of their High Commissioner either indicates a further deterioration in the bilateral relations or is a confirmation that there is no substance in this relationship. Merely issuing visas for medical treatment in India are good humane gestures but these by themselves do not add substance to this relationship. Those who can afford to go the US or Europe are also those who control the levers in Pakistan. They go there for medical treatment, education, vacations or seeking shelter from state harassment. The Prime Minister of Pakistan ( Abbasi) was recently in DC to visit his sister, who had an operation in an American Hospital. This is a good example of what the author is trying to say here !
Looking at it realistically, noble acts do no enhance bilateral relations; only furtherance or preservations of national interests helps. This plus a little bit of cognitive empathy for the other side that tries to understand without emotion their point of view. This might help us understand why they behave in a particular manner and not be carried away by sentiment.
We always forget in our naivete that the Pakistan establishment does not seek a better relationship with India. It never has. Now that it is swinging further to the right, it will never seek such a relationship. It would be good to factor this into our calculations. (ANI) Agree cent percent :D

What about air cover by the latest junk fighters? {Legendary Airforce can shoot down 6 planes in a min}
Have the borders been sealed? {400%! With the Bakistani fauj taqniks, it has been made porous one way onlee!}
What about helicopters? How many helicopters will be on hand to evacuate the international players...if ....er...situations demands? {Amrika did not provide hallicopters for free, based on Dushman mulk's lobbying}
Will the spectators have to divulge their religion at the first round of frisking or will it be listed on their tickets? {Religion is already on their ID cards. Also, the real faithfools have a mark of piety on their foreheads}
What about going to the rest rooms? Will that person be escorted to the restrooms or wear a diaper? {Tsk, Tsk... there is a procedure outlined in the book for going to the rest rooms. Rest rooms will be equipped with brick pieces and stones... (sorry no stones, lest they start practicing stoning the devil)}
So many loose ends, so little time. {Tight ends would make the Baki mards too excited. Burqa is the way to go.}

Slowdown in Chinese funding requires urgent attention - Ihtashamul Haque

SLAMABAD: A slowdown in Chinese funding could delay bigger China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) development projects and the matter requires urgent attention of the government.

On the other hand, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) executive board’s first post-programme monitoring report has cast serious doubt about Pakistan’s repayment capacity, considering the fast depleting foreign exchange reserves.

Both issues require critical assessment of the situation in order to take immediate decisions with a view to reducing growing economic vulnerabilities.

More importantly, the declining foreign exchange reserves, insiders say, will go down from $12.3 billion to $10 billion by June this year, not sufficient to cover the necessary two months of imports.

The government does not seem to be interested in starting dialogue with the IMF to seek an urgent bailout package to avoid default. Likewise, the caretaker government, it is said, would have no appropriate mandate to seek urgent financing from the IMF.

China, UNDP sign $4m agreement to help FATA, Balochistan

Therefore, there is confusion at the top level on how to deal with the current economic meltdown that has intensified due to continued widening of the current account deficit.

China has surprisingly slowed down its assistance over which experts have voiced their concern. CPEC-related projects, in the first six months of the current fiscal year, have received $506 million in Chinese funding compared to $848 million in the same period of 2016-17.

“There is a 40% drop in Chinese funding and this is something very alarming,” said a former finance minister. He suggested that the funding should have reached its peak to aptly complete highway and Gwadar-related development projects.

The slowdown in China’s CPEC-related funding is believed to have caused an 18% reduction in the import of power generation machinery. Why the Chinese are putting less money into the CPEC projects?

Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, who still looks after CPEC projects, is usually blamed for not taking up the issue with the Chinese. He seems to be more preoccupied with the political fire-fighting to appease the PML-N leadership due to which his own ministry is said to be suffering.

It is not ironic that while these projects could face delays and hardships due to the decrease in Chinese funding, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is offering six approved routes to members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) to help enhance its vitality to become a conduit for linking the Eurasian landmass – China, Russia and Central Asia with the Arabian Sea.

Favourable outlook at risk

The IMF monitoring report believes that continued erosion of Pakistan’s macroeconomic resilience could put the near-term favourable outlook at risk. Surging imports have led to the widening current account deficit and a significant decline in international reserves, despite higher external financing, it said.

China dominates Pakistan’s FDI figures, Norway pulls out

“Against the backdrop of rising external and fiscal financing needs and the declining reserves, risks to Pakistan’s medium-term capacity to repay the fund have increased since completion of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) in September 2016,” said the IMF board of directors.

This has happened for the first time that the IMF has expressed its concern over Pakistan’s ability to pay off its $6.4-billion loan whose payment will start from June this year. Pakistan will have to return $450 million and $800 million by early next year and later $1 billion.

All this is happening when Pakistan is already facing $8-billion financing gap which is feared to reach $10 billion by June this year.

Pakistan is largely seen as facing new troubles and since the government is not taking any decision to contact or not to contact the IMF for any emergency assistance, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) are not expected to offer their usual annual assistance.

All the three international financial institutions (IFIs) provide close to $4 billion in annual assistance to Pakistan which also includes short-term Islamic financing for oil imports by the IDB through US-influenced commercial banks in Bahrain. These three banks offer low-cost concessionary loans to Pakistan, but this time around their funding has become difficult due to the IMF, whose go-ahead is necessary.

They have already cut their assistance for the current fiscal year and who knows how they would deal with Islamabad in the absence of any bailout package from the IMF?

However, the government has found an easy way to seek expensive commercial loans from Chinese banks as others are a little hesitant, considering the current weak economic condition of Pakistan.

Exchange rate

IMF officials are happy with Pakistan’s long-awaited move to allow some better exchange rate adjustment, but they are still seeking greater exchange rate flexibility on a more permanent basis to preserve external buffers and improve competitiveness.

In fact, the IMF wants 23% devaluation of the rupee to improve its competitiveness and support Pakistani exporters. Adviser on Finance Miftah Ismail said the other day that the government would be reimbursing a maximum portion of over Rs200 billion worth of sales tax refund claims to the exporters and that an incentive package is under way to help the exporters increase their declining exports. Will this happen?

Pakistan borrows another $500m from Chinese bank

Overall, The country’s economy continues to slide downwards and who knows the economic mismanagement, especially by the previous PPP and now PML-N governments, is the major cause of the current mess. Questions are being asked what the government is leaving behind after completing its five-year term.

Public debt surged to over Rs22 trillion in 2016-17 from Rs13.3 trillion in 2012-13, adding Rs7.5 trillion only in four years. It has added Rs657 billion in just three months of the current fiscal year.

Latest SBP Report - Q2FY18P Pakistan's Debt and Liabilities Profile Provisional (In Billion Rupees)
Pakistan's Total Debt and Liabilities : 26,814.7 i.e. 26.817 TRILLION

The government is said to be adding another Rs2.5 trillion of public debt before the elections due this year. Total debt will stand at a whopping Rs25 trillion which means close to 69% of GDP. It is already Pak Rupees 16.817 Trillion. I reckon at on June 2018 it should surely be more than Pak Rupees 28.5 Trillion!

Foreign debt and liabilities increased from $61 billion in 2012-13 to $89 billion by the end of December last year. They are feared to be reaching $96 billion by end-June 2018. The government is accused of adding $35 billion to the external debt. It would have added another $55 billion had there been no unprecedented decline in international oil prices.

The current account deficit rose to $12.4 billion or 4.1% of GDP in 2016-17 and it is anticipated to be deteriorating to $18 billion or 5.3% of GDP by the time the current fiscal year ends on June 30 this year.

Foreign exchange reserves continue to decline and the plan of floating new bonds has been delayed for some time because of being very expensive.

The changing economic scenario is getting bleaker and bleaker with the government only concerned about its own political survival and benefiting its cronies. The latest is the announcement of Ali Siddiqui – the son of Jahangir Siddiqui – to become Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States.

He has no experience and has been appointed because of alleged business relations with the rulers and a media group that is involved in the bashing of credible state institutions.

The writer is the recipient of four national APNS awards and four international awards for journalism

What does sweeter than hunney biradher Cheen want from basket case El-Bakistan hain ji?
It wanted a port and a military base in the Arabian sea. It looks like the Pakistani Army GUBOed and gave them Jiwani
The Cheenis wanted mines in Balochistan to extract copper and other minerals, and these have been given to them by the Pakistani Army

One mine I keep a close watch on is Reko-Diq. It is right next to Gawadar, is reputed to have gold and copper, and the Cheenis may want this mine and can export all the ore out of Gawadar to China or international refining plants so that Pakistan can pay off some of the debt.

All in all, Cheen got what it wanted, it has a military base, it has pakistan's useable resources and minerals. The Pak Fauj got its tunnels and tanks, subs and JF-17 bandars, so now what is the need for CPEC drama hain ji?

These Pakis are so obsessed with their sense of smell...
In the 50s and 60s they called the Bangladeshis, smelly and made smelly fish.
Now they are complaining that the Chinese cook dog meat and Paki Neighbours complain that the smell is very bad.

Hain ji, the one thing that residents of El-Bakistan would be immune to would be "smell", they live in a Bakistan after all.
Maybe this is a fraud-ian nautanki to make up for what they lack

Saar, at least in Karachi the ships are still reachable.
At Deep Sea Port of Gawadar, those ships would have sank in the deep deep sea.

I am begining to sus-e-pect that the Bakis are afraid of deep water and so not taking any ships to Gawadar, and still keep bringing ships to Karachi and Port Qasim. This Karachi port is a new construction by land reclamation in the Karachi Harbour by Cheenis.
I hear that this area smells very bad due to cooking of dog meat by unknown persons.

Pakistan all set to seek $2 bn from friendly country

Why the "hush-hush" in not naming the two countries mentioned in the farticle. One is definitely Saudia by the following ...
Negotiations with the brotherly Muslim country having a generous attitude towards Pakistan in the past are also under way and there is expectation that a relief of about $1.5 billion will be provided to Pakistan. A source without giving details of this arrangement stated this was also done in past, when after nuclear tests,
Not sure about the other Ummah country, but my guess would be Qatar or maybe Iran. Bajwa was there a few month ago!
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance Miftah Ismail, along with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan, visited the Muslim country.
Before these tours, the COAS Qamar Bajwa had also visited this country. And luckily these negotiations are going positively,
Pakistan has learned a lesson from the FATF fiasco. Do not count your chickens before they are hatched Possibly Indians / RAA may intervene and "the negotiations may go south"

Pakistan ISI: Doctors protest against spy agency over beating
Authorities in Pakistan's Bajaur tribal region have promised action against military personnel who detained and beat a doctor, sparking protests. Medics went on strike and the military was criticised after Dr Abdul Hameed was held for several hours on Saturday. Protesters accused the army and its Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) spy agency of "state hooliganism".
Campaigners say tens of thousands of tribal residents have been killed or disappeared during years of conflict.
"Are you a protector of the people, or are you a murderer?" he said, addressing the ISI. "Why do you want to turn the children of this nation into your enemies?"
since January, protests have erupted in several parts of Fata and Pakistan's north-west, mostly over "extrajudicial killings" and procedures at security checkpoints.
The Pashtun Protection Movement appears to have opened the floodgates for public criticism of the military, something which had been unthinkable until a few months ago.

Another Paki Shows His Pakistaniyat! . This Time It Is In Pakistan !

Fake Assistant Director NAB Who Made Millions by Blackmailing Govt Officials Finally Arrested
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been unaware that a fake Assistant Director has been blackmailing government officials of Sindh and Punjab for many years using the department’s name. Someone has to bring the "bacon home" ! Sometimes it is not easy to feed and house a dozen kids, in laws out laws etc etc
The fake Assistant Director Shehzad Yousuf, has been finally arrested. According to details, he made a huge sum of money the department’s name. According to the department, the accused has received a sum of around Rs. 25 million from government officers as bribes. The money was deposited in the accused’s different bank accounts.According to NAB Karachi, they arrested a person name Shehzad Yousuf who has been impersonating as Assistant Director of NAB operating under the alias of Imran and Shehryar.
The arrest was made on the complaints of several offices of NAB by tracing his bank accounts. Truly surprising that the police did not make some sort of a deal and let him go. Maybe, his terms were not acceptable to the police .!
NAB Spokesperson told ProPakistani that during the Interrogation, Shehzad Yousuf revealed that he had been blackmailing several Government officials of Sindh as well as Punjab on the pretext of corruption cases initiated in NAB. He demanded huge bribes to end the inquiries.“Many such officers deposited huge sums of amounts in his four bank accounts maintained at Karachi and Sahiwal, from where the impersonating accused used to draw cash. Total transactions in his bank accounts amount to more than Rs. 25 million,” states the NAB Spokesperson. Where did all this money go ?
In Karachi, he has targeted KDA and local Government officials frequently finding them more responsive to his blackmail. The accused executed the offense by demanding bribes of Rs. 5 lac to Rs. 1 million and received the amount through bank transfer. He was about to receive a transaction of Rs. 3 million through a Demand Draft, however, he was apprehended by the NAB before that. Have the police made sure that there are not other "Shehzad Yousufs" circulating in the system
NAB advised all members of the public to exercise caution in falling prey to the blackmails from people impersonating as NAB officers. Any members of the public who have dealt with the accused, were lured by him or gave him money against any promises are advised to assist NAB authorities at PRCS Building Cantt. Karachi. Closing the barn door after the horse has left
Accountability Court Karachi granted physical remand of Shehzad Yousuf for 9 days. Why only 9 days

Pakistan has the worst infant mortality rate in the world, reveals UNICEF report
WASHINGTON: A UNICEF report on child mortality revealed Pakistan to have the worst new-born mortality rate.Released on Tuesday, the report said babies born in the world’s poorest countries, most of them in Africa, still face ‘alarming’ risks of death that can be 50 times as high as those in the richest countries. The differences are stark. A baby born in Pakistan — the country with the worst newborn mortality rate — faced a one in 22 chance of death, while a newborn in Japan had only a one in 1,111 risk of dying, the report said.

This is interesting! All one has to do to lock down Bakistan for days is to send in empty containers and ask them to unload it quickly in night. The port will be closed for a week with all those floating containers!
Locked
