Well my understanding, very limited and based on some baki rudali videos which are by themselves not very trustworthy, is that the current regime is much *stricter* than when Bakis were on the list last time.

Seems the regime has completely changed between then and now and hence not comparable. The pain will be many times higher if the bakis are to be believed.

They were on the list for money laundering. Now for terror financing. This should have bigger impact.

Even being on the "Gray" list (again) negatively affects their risk profile, which directly affects their ability to borrow without international oversight and at competitive rates. This is where the chinis have an upper hand when it comes to "investing" in pakhanistan.

However, the positive spinning by the usual idiots in bakistan has already begun.

Pakistan deserves international support, not a place on the FATF grey-list

Diaspora diaries
Clueless, wayward writing but the self-adulation continues.
THE Pakistani diaspora is one of the biggest and most influential in the world.
It is also incredibly diverse in its class and ethnic composition — as well as attitudes towards politics.
More generally, labour is the country’s biggest export, meaning that we earn more money from remittances than any tangible good manufactured in Pakistan for sale abroad.
With a population of young people exploding through the roof with little or no employment prospects within the country, our export of labour — legal or otherwise — is very likely to continue increasing over time.
Many of those who make their away abroad do so at great risk, travelling without documentation and in horrific conditions, whether overland or by sea.
Those who have spent time in the police states of the Gulf have sometimes imbibed Wahabi influences which they bring back to their home communities
Take Pakistani medical doctors in North America who have their own association (APPNA) and regularly lobby Congress and Pakistani officialdom.
These rich and powerful Pakistanis loved the Musharraf regime
Some even donate money to ‘Islamic’ causes. These days Imran Khan is their blue-eyed boy

More religion, all the time... happy times are here again.

KP govt to approve Rs27.7m grant for Darul Uloom Haqqania
The funds are being disbursed on special directives of chief minister Khattak himself.
This is not the first time that the madressah would be on the receiving end of a gracious grant from Pakistan Tekhreek-i-Insaf (PTI) led KP government as Rs300m were allocated for it in the budget for financial year 2016-17.
That was fast. A bushra bibi effect?

"Ganja Family Business" Remains Intact In Wake Of "Supreme Court Verdict Against Nawaz"

Kulsoom Nawaz to be made new PML-N president: source
Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting at Punjab House for consultations on the new leader of the party a day after he was removed as PML-N head following a Supreme Court judgement that also nullified all official party decisions taken by Sharif since his disqualification in July last year.
The participants of the meeting agreed to get Sharif's wife Kulsoom — who is undergoing treatment for cancer in London — elected as the party's new president, the source told DawnNews.
According to the source, Sharif spoke during the meeting for only 10 minutes and listened to party leaders for the rest of the time.

"Loadshedding" To Remain ! Paki Minister

Loadshedding may return as losses have tripled, warns minister
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will have to bear power sector losses of Rs360 billion this year — three times greater than those in 2013 — because of insignificant reduction in system losses and increased electricity supply. So, the much hyped "extra generation" did not occur !
He said the government would examine the losses in the first or second week of March and formally announce whether or not to increase the duration of loadshedding.

So basically in winter when there is household or agricultural demand there is no loadsheeding. Guess there not much Electricity demand of indutries in Pakistan.

I think Pakistan must declare this electricity itself as Haram as there was no electricity in the 7th century.

Mangla reservoir reaches dead level

ISLAMABAD: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) has stopped water releases from Mangla after the reservoir’s level reached the dead level.

According to the letter to hydel operation chief engineer by Mangla Resident Engineer, the water level at the Mangla reservoir has reached the dead level as per the recent data of Survey of Pakistan Datum (SPD).

In order to maintain the level of 1050ft the inflows and outflows have been equalised, the letter further states. Presently one unit is on bars at 30 MW with a discharge of 2200 (cusec feet) CFs through Mangla power station.

According to Wapda, discharge of 1280 CFs is being made through Jari valve (with max. permissible opening) in line with IRSA directives.

Pakistan’s major reservoirs to reach dead level by March 10th

IRSA spokesperson Rana Khlalid said after detailed discussions at first meeting presided by Chairman IRSA, Sher Zaman Khan on Mangla dam’s position, IRSA has decided to open Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal with immediate effect with a discharge of 4000 cusecs to save Trimmu- Sindhnai barrages.

The decision was taken by a 3.1 majority vote, as Member Sindh strongly objected on opening of Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal.

No, there was increased electricity supply and so more was stolen, so fiscal losses are greater.

Excerpt from todays (February 23) press briefing by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan regards the Islamic Republic’s current difficulties with the Financial Action Task Force aka FATF :
Record of the Press Briefing by Spokesperson on 23 February 2018 …………

Question

What are you comments on Pakistan's inclusion into 'grey list' under FATF?

Second, Indian Army Chief blamed that Pakistan, with support of China, is pushing illegal migrants from Bangladesh into India's northeastern states. What are your comments on this ridiculous allegation of the Indian Army Chief? (Tariq Mahmood - SAMAA TV )

Supplementary Questions

Regarding FATF, Foreign Minister Khwaja Asif recently thanked some friendly countries in a tweet for their help in getting Pakistan a 3-month reprieve. What is the factual position in this regard? (Essa Naqvi - Dunya TV)

What steps will Pakistan take during these three months to ensure that it does not get into a similar situation again? (Rashida Sial - Ab Takk)

Can you share details of how many countries voted in favour, and the countries that voted against US motion in FATF? (Anas Malick - Republic)

Since you mentioned that the motion in FATF against Pakistan has been initiated by the US and other allied countries, what are the prospects of future Pak-US relations after this? (Khawaja Nayyar Iqbal - Kashmir Post)

If FATF's final response is still awaited, why did our Foreign Minister tweet about it in such a categorical manner? Is there any miscommunication between MoFA/Ministry of Finance and the Foreign Minister? (Shaukat Paracha - Aaj TV)

Should we call Kh Asif's premature tweet his diplomatic inexperience? (Aon Sherazi - Sach TV)

How many countries supported us in FATF? (Amjad Ali-PTV)

Answer

Regarding FATF, on 20 January 2018, the US and UK jointly submitted a letter to the FATF nominating Pakistan for placement in the "Grey List". France and Germany subsequently joined this nomination. The statement coming from the US State Department must be seen in that context.

Pakistan has serious concerns over and objections to the introduction of this new "nomination" procedure which is unprecedented and in clear violation of established rules/practices of FATF. Most of the concerns raised by the US side regarding deficiencies in our CFT/AML regime had already been addressed in 2015 when Pakistan got an exit from the "grey list".

For your brief background, in 2009 FATF identified "strategic deficiencies" in Pakistan's AML/CFT regime. To overcome these deficiencies, Pakistan agreed to implement FAFT's Action Plan. As a consequence, the State Bank of Pakistan introduced a comprehensive set of new rules and guidelines on CFT/AML. Stand alone legislation on Money Laundering was also enacted by the Parliament to deal with AML issues. Moreover, an operationally independent and administrative Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU) was established under the AML law with the sole mandate of receiving, analyzing and disseminating Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs). Investigative powers in relation to AML/CFT have been assigned to the four federal law enforcement agencies, namely: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Directorate General (Investigation and Intelligence) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

In June 2015, after strenuous efforts, the implementation of this Action Plan was completed and Pakistan was de-listed from FATF's grey list. This exit was an acknowledgment of the robustness of Pakistan's CFT/AML regime and well in line with international standards.

So far, the outcome of the ICRG/FATF meeting in Paris is awaited.

Since FATF is dealt with by the Ministry of Finance and its allied departments further questions related to it may be directed to them.

Once things get clearer, we will be able to comment on Pak-US relations in this context.

Darul Uloom Haqqania to get further Rs 277 million grant
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to grant furthermore funds of Rs 277 million for its ally Maulana Samiul Haq’s seminary, Darul Uloom Haqqania. Following this amount, the sum of funds granted to this religious seminary has reached to a whopping Rs 577 million. The provincial government, in its budget 2016-17, had also allocated a whopping Rs 300 million for Darul Uloom Haqqania and had stated that the government wanted to bring these madrassas to mainstream. Imran Khan, inspite of his "western veneer" ( AKA Taliban Khan ) has always had a "soft corner" for the Taliban.
On the other hand, the release of whopping Rs 277 million grant days before Senate elections is being perceived as a political stunt to get Maulana’s support. Will the Maulana be invited to his "wedding bash"

Transgender "Hajj Update"

Pakistan´s first transgender scouts compete to attend haj
Reuters.
BEIRUT: For the first time, transgender boy scouts from Pakistan could be heading to the haj pilgrimage in Islam´s holiest city, a scout leader said Thursday, signalling growing acceptance of the stigmatised minority. The Pakistan Boy Scouts Association accepted its first 40 transgender members when they took the oath in Karachi last week, said Atif Amin Hussaini, head of boy scouts in the southeastern Sindh province."We believe in equal rights for all and we are happy to enter trans people in the boy scouts," he told the Thomson Reuters Foundation by phone from Karachi. Is it prudent to follow the dictum of "no publicity is bad publicity" in a conservative society like Pakiland
Transgender people in Pakistan are often shunned by their families and forced into begging or prostitution to support themselves, although a nascent activist movement is gaining attention and legal rights. Hussaini said transgender scouts could make up some of the 40 to 50 members that it sends to volunteer at the haj annually. "We are proud to send them to the haj," he said, adding that all scouts will be selected on merit.
No "sifarish" or "chai pani" will be accepted
There is no official data on Pakistan´s transgender population, but the charity Trans Action Pakistan estimates a they number at least half a million in a country of 190 million where homosexuality is a crime. Figures may be underestimated as the transgenders may not be comfortable in "coming out of the closet" !
The recognition of transgender scouts could be significant because it increases the community´s "visibility and the importance of seeing them as equals", said Qamar Naseem, programme coordinator with local advocacy group, Blue Veins."Pakistan already accepts their identity so there should be more efforts and programmes to integrate them into society inside and outside Pakistan," he said via phone from Peshawar. The transgenders should be careful of "Mullah retaliation", specially in places like Peshawar where the "ignorant Abduls" have vented their anger on these "poor souls" .
Pakistan issued a passport to a prominent transgender activist with an X to symbolise the third sex in 2017, while a court also ruled that transgender people would be counted in the national census for the first time. Part of Paki strategy of = = !
Saudi Arabia has no law against transgender people but the kingdom has carried out arrests for cross-dressing and ordered the imprisonment and flogging of men accused of behaving like women, according to U.S.-based Human Rights Watch. Saudi behaviour is unpredictable . Depends on the mood of the King on that particular day !

No, no, Iron Brother PRC misunderstood the rules. It was assuming, that like NSG that this was a consensus based vote and their acquiescence was needed. What a pity!

Added later,

"The motion, brought forth by the United States, was supported by countries like UK, France, and India. The FATF voted 36 to 1 to grey list Pakistan."

Pakistan: The royal playground for the Arabs

‘Tis the season to be jolly, the bustards are coming. The small chicken-like birds migrate from Africa to Pakistan in the winter season to celebrate Christmas, and much like most African migrants in history, they are hunted for pleasure by rich people. Thankfully the birds are grey and brown, not white, so the world hardly cares about them.

Pakistan must be lauded for its strong stance against the hunting of these poor defenceless birds. Pakistanis have no need to go hunting for birds. They already have their favourite sport: to hunt other Pakistanis. No, instead the bustard hunting is exclusively reserved for bustard enthusiasts: the Arabs. It is racist that Pakistani newspapers are focusing so much on the Arab hunting trips whereas nobody cared when Raymond Davis came to hunt in Pakistan.

So what if the Arabs are allowed to hunt a few birds in Pakistan? What good are birds anyway? You cannot even park your car outside in Karachi because of all the pigeon poop. Once again, the Arabs are coming in to help Pakistan with its shit; no bustards means no bustard poop. It is a win-win for all of us.

Sure there are endangered species that the royal princes could hunt in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but why cause death and destruction in your own country when you have Pakistan as your royal playground? The Arab version of the TV show Westworld is basically called Al-Bakistanworld. Forget the birds, if they pay us enough we will let them hunt the Baloch near Shamsi airbase too. We let the Americans do it, so why not the Arabs?

The Americans have not housed our leaders. The Arabs were nice enough to keep the Sharif brothers for us while we figured out if we liked another military dictatorship or not. Even now, they are standing with open arms, much like Jaya Bachchan in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, waiting to take our bustard poop from us.

There are approximately 600,000 Pakistanis working in the UAE. They are given jobs, shawarmas and no fundamental human rights to remind them of back home. In return, all the Arabs ask for is the right to watch their falcons dismantle a few defenceless small birds — is that too much to ask? Letting other countries have wars in Pakistan for sport and watch with pleasure in return for money has basically been our foreign policy for the last 70 years.

There is an easy solution to stop all the anti-nationals looking to destabilise our relationship with our Arab brothers by asking for a ban on bustard hunting. We should declare all houbara bustards to be kaffir. Nobody would dare campaign against the right of our Arab Muslims brothers coming to Pakistan to hunt kaffirs. I know that because they have been doing that for years and nobody has ever campaigned against it.

If anything, Pakistanis and Arabs can come together and celebrate the killing of these kaffir birds every year. Pakistanis will just have to figure out how to jump over the fence to get into the areas reserved for the Arabs and get past all the security they bring with them. Sure, the Arabs may consider all the locals to be children of a lesser God but apart from them destroying chickpea crops without compensating the farmers, deporting Pakistanis from the UAE and using our land for sport, we are all basically brothers!

They just have to take the Sharif brothers back and we will let them hunt the snow leopards too. The population of Pakistan is growing and we have to make space. Like I said, win-win.

Guys, one would think that India, most affected by TSP's use of terror as an instrument of state leading to so much death and destruction, stunting India's progress, equal equal with this abomination etc; would in one voice take some satisfaction in TSP being placed in FATF list. But India has too many self-appointed, holier than though vacuous pontificating argumentative perverts including an ex diplomat (make me throw that this guys was a diplomat) who is TSP's man in India puking that US and its western lackeys are being too harsh on TSP, Israel should be included bla bla. Sometimes it feels India has more batters for TSP that in TSP itself.

Thats said, I doubt this move will in any way dent TSP's chutzpah in showing the middle finger to US and India. As usual, it will be dismissed as conspiracy hatched by US India Israel. And above, it will be viewed as PR, "image" problem, and nothing wrong with TSP per se.

Pakistan is a Doggie's Tail - will never go straight.
On the same day as they were being placed on the FATF for terrorism financing, these idiots go ahead and want to give Paki Rupees 277 million to Darul-Uloom Haqqania, the Madarsa and Seminary with graduates such as:

A September 2014 attack by terrorists affiliated with Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) on a Pakistani frigate, PNS Zulfiquar, may have targeted a nuclear warhead on board the vessel. This disturbing detail is included in Steve Coll’s latest book, Directorate S: The C.I.A. and America’s Secret Wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and sourced to an Indian intelligence report at the time. (Hat-tip to Vipin Narang for pointing out the excerpt from Coll.)

Coll writes that “six weeks after the attack [on PNS Zulfiquar], India’s principal external intelligence service, the Research and Analysis Wing, citing an agent reporting from Karachi, informed India’s national security adviser that a nuclear warhead had been on board the PNS Zulfiquar at the time of the attack.”

Coll notes that “if the Indian report was accurate,” the PNS Zulfiquar attack would be the “first known armed terrorist attack in history” that came close to seeing a hostile nonstate group gain control of a vulnerable warhead. At the time, Al Qaeda’s propaganda suggested that the attackers would have seized the Pakistani frigate and used it to attack U.S. Navy vessels in the Arabian Sea.
WTF!! Why would you have nukes on frigate? Trying to airdrop them from a helicopter?
How would they deliver it? Does not makes sense unless it was being shipped to biratharan mulks or North Korea!

India's desire to be regional hegemon casting dark shadow in region: Pakistan
Pakistan today said that India's desire to become a "regional hegemon" is casting a "dark shadow" in the region.

Warning that Pakistani forces are ready to defend its borders against any threat, Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Faisal in his weekly briefing said that "India's arms buildup has pushed the region into a vicious arms race".

"Its (India's) hegemonic designs are a cause of serious concern, not only for Pakistan, but also for the entire region. India's desire to try to become a regional hegemon is casting a dark shadow on South Asia," he said.

He criticised India for justifying the ceasefire violations "on flimsy pretexts" and said that ceasefire violations were a threat to regional peace and can lead to a strategic miscalculation.

He urged India to allow the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.

India maintains that UNMOGIP has outlived its utility and is irrelevant after the Simla Agreement and the consequent establishment of the Line of Control.

Asked about Hindu pilgrims not being able to visit Katas Raj temple in Pakistan's Chakwal district, he said visas are issued by Pakistan High Commission on the basis of the Note Verbale (NV) issued by the Ministry of External Affairs to pilgrims.

"In order to facilitate them, our High Commission allowed the pilgrims to submit their passports without the NoC. Unfortunately, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs did not issue any NV to the pilgrims, forcing them to withdraw their passports unfortunately," he claimed.

He said that 503 Pakistanis have applied for Indian visas to attend the Urs of Khawaja Moinuddin next month and hoped that they will be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

To several questions about the outcome of the meeting of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) regarding placing Pakistan on in its "grey list" of nations not doing enough to counter terror financing, he said so far the outcome is "awaited".

On straining Pakistan-US ties, the spokesperson said the Trump administration took several unilateral actions in recent months that had an impact on bilateral relations.

"We have categorically conveyed to the US that this relationship can move forward only in an environment of mutual trust and respect," he said.

Asked about a report by British newspaper Financial Times that China is secretly holding talks with Baloch militants to protect its USD 60 billion CPEC, he said China has categorically rejected the report as baseless "so nothing more needs to be said on that."

He also said that Pakistan and Russia agreed during recent visit of foreign minister Khawaja Asif to from a Joint Technical and Military Committee to support the bilateral efforts of cooperation in counter-terrorism and defence.

SBajwa ji, I think it was just for storage. Pakistan is paranoid that Indian first strike will take out all their phatakas, or else US marines will land and seize all their stockpiles, so they keep some nukes in frigates, submarines, toilets, airliners, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, wherever they think they will be safe.

The consensus seems to be that they were storing it there, keep it moving.
At the first sign of danger, the ship will set sail and be in the middle of the sea.

Their nuke storage sites are considered unsafe, because everyone keeps posting pictures of them on the internet, and ground surveillance of their "nukes" is intense.
