this is interesting, seem to have missed this gem in all the clutter.

NEWS: Pakistan deports five Chinese engineers, who had attacked Pakistani policemen in Khanewal last week over being barred from visiting a "red-light" area.
COMMENT: Rare show of defiance by Pakistan vis a vis all-weather friend China. However, Pakistani conduct is commendable.

Imran Shows Pleasure In Ganja's Discomfort ( Schadenfreude)

Imran alleges Nawaz was backed by army in 2013 elections
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has alleged that ousted prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif had the army’s help in the elections of 2013. In an interview with Hamid Mir on a local news channel programme, Khan said that a Brigadier had been Nawaz’s aide in Punjab, accentuating that he had thought it through before making the revelation. The Kaptaan ( an empty vessel !) has the habit of "shooting off his mouth" quite often !
The PTI chief was questioned about the ex-PM’s comment: ‘Jalsa Lahore da, Majma Pishor da te agenda kisay hor da’, which translates to a rally held in Lahore, attended by a crowd from Peshawar on somebody else’s agenda. He replied with pointing out that it was Nawaz who has always been the judiciary’s and army’s ‘ladla’. “Nawaz is unsettled now because both the army and judiciary are neutral,” he said and further added that Nawaz’s reality keeps getting exposed as the pressure adds. "Army and judiciary are neutral" - Immy is a two -faced liar for sure !
“The innocent, seemingly- oppressed Nawaz disappeared, and an unusually different version of him surfaced while he was under pressure,” stated Imran Khan. There is no doubt that Nawaz is rousing the awaam for a show-down with the Deep State. But in his shrewd dehati way - not a direct confrontation, which may result in him going to jail right now !
Though he avoided answering any questions regarding his meeting with PML-N stalwart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, he commented that a simple majority would not be obtained by any party during the National Assembly (NA) elections. And that is why Immy needs to curry favour with the fauj ( which is having second thought about his ability to be PM in light of his judgement etc re the Peerni ! )
quote]Moreover, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday hinted towards a rift between the Sharif family and stated that Nawaz Sharif will be contesting against his brother Shehbaz Sharif and nephew Hamza Shehbaz in the upcoming general elections.“Nawaz will not contest against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) or Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) but Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz,” the PTI leader said. What nonsense is this PTI "leader" talking about . Has not Ganja been barred for life from Paki politics by the recent Supreme Court judgement . That means that he cannot seek office! [/quote]
“Nawaz has become a victim of frustration and confusion after his disqualification and is fast headed towards his end,” the PTI leader said.

NATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY BUREAU ( N.A.B.) "GOES AFTER" MUSH ON TWO FRONTS :

NAB seeks details of Musharraf’s ‘misuse of authority’: report
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has directed a former army officer to provide details about the alleged “misuse of authority” by former military dictator general (r) Pervez Musharraf and information regarding the 85 plots ‘illegally allotted’ to general (r) Yousaf Khan, former vice chief of army staff, reported a local media outlet. Colonel (r) Advocate Inam-ur-Rahim filed a complaint against the former army chief and the vice army chief.NAB, in a notice issued to the complainant, said an inquiry into the allegations was underway which reveals that he is in possession of information/evidence, which relates to the commission of said offence. Proves once again that when in power in Pakiland - anything goes for the one who sits in the kursi . When out of power , all sorts of cases are registered against you . Ayub, Bhutto, Zardari, Mush, Sharif - you name it, the pattern is the same !

NAB asks Musharraf to provide details of vehicles registered in his name
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday asked former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf, to provide the details of all vehicles registered in his and his family’s names. According to local media outlet, NAB wrote a letter to the excise department as part of its investigation into Musharraf’s assets, which are more than his declared sources of income. Nothing new here. Almost all Paki politicos and senior faujis and "prominent businessmen" fall into the same category . It all depends if you are in favour with the present regime or not . In the present case, Mush is not . So a case against him is registered. As simple as that !
Musharraf, along with his wife, mother, daughter and son-in-law are supposed to give details of the vehicles owned by him.According to the excise department, Musharraf’s wife, Sehba, is the owner of a land cruiser and is the only one from Musharraf’s family with a registered vehicle in Lahore. The NAB should go for the "big stuff" that Mush has - outside Pakiland . His Dubai high rise apartment, his cars and vehicles in Dubai, his flat on Edgware Road in London's "Arabistan" and his cars and vehicles there . His bank accounts in UK, USA , Switzerland and Dubai . And what about the millions of dollars he "sweet talked" King Abdullah of Saudia to give him in the name of "Ummah Brotherhood" . Where is that money hiding . What, if any, was the quo quid pro for that . And the monies from his lecture circuits . Where is that money hiding. This so-called honest one time chief executive of Pakiland and co-conspirator in BB murder has lots to answer when he is forced to return to Pakiland because his passport would not be renewed

He was made a Sardar Bahadur in 1911 and Companion of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1920. He was knighted in 1926. In 1926, the University of the Panjab awarded him the degree of Doctor of Oriental Learning (D.O.L) honoris causa. Sundar Singh had in 1887 married the daughter of Sardar Bishan Singh Kandaula, in Ludhiana district, maternal uncle of Raja Bikram Singh of Faridkot. After her death the same year, he married the daughter of Sardar Sir Attar Singh of Bhadaur. He had three sons, two of whom Kirpal Singh Majithia and Surjit Singh Majithia entered politics. After Independence, Surjit Singh was elected to Parliament and became a deputy minister in Jawaharlal Nehru`s government.

--- About Arur Singh

https://www.thesikhencyclopedia.com/sik ... ahadur-sir

In 1888, he was made an honorary magistrate class II, with powers over 133 villages of Kathu Nangal police circle. In 1907 he was made magistrate class I and a provincial darbari (courtier), and was also appointed by government sarbarah in spite of the reformers` demand that the right to appoint the sarbarah should vest in the Sikh community itself. It was bruited about that Arur Singh had set apart for certain British officers valuable presents from the to shakhana (treasury) of the Darbar Sahib.

An agitation was set afoot against him on this account. However, it came to nothing; likewise, later complaints laid against him of mismanagement and corruption in the gurdwaras under his charge were rejected. Things came to a head when Arur Singh and the priests of Sri Darbar Sahib publicly honoured General Dyer, responsible for Jallianvala Bagh massacre in 1919. Demand for his removal as sarbarah gathered momentum day by day. Ultimately, Arur Singh bowed to the popular will.

He not only resigned the office of sarbarah but also tendered at a meeting at Jallianvala Bagh sometime during August 1920 a public apology for his acts of omission and commission relating to the management of the shrines under his charge. The government, however, in view of his loyal services, conferred on him a knighthood on the New Year Day of 1921. He had already been awarded a C. I. E. (Companion of the Indian Empire) in 1913; he now became Sardar Sir Arur Singh, K.C.I.E. (Knight Companion of the Indian Empire). Arur Singh died in 1926.

At Sarkar Khalsa Maharaja Ranjit Singh's court there was one Brahmin from Benaras named Pundit Jalla who was very popular with Maharaja.

Maharaja donated the land close to Golden Temple to Pundit Jalla., Pundit never used this land and left it as a public park. It was named by the local as "Jalaianwala Bagh" i.e. "The park that belong to Jalla"

Hyderabad: Madrasa teacher arrested for sexually exploiting minor students

HYDERABAD: Asif Nagar police arrested a 23-year-old Madrasa teacher for sexually assaulting six boys at the institution premises.

The accused is, Rehman Ansari, 23, a native of Bihar. In June 2017, Ansari joined a madrasa at Zeba Bagh in Asif Nagar as an instructor. Ansari used to stay in the room provided to him at the madrasa and teach the students.

There are 25 students enrolled in the madrasa and 22 of them were currently attending the classes, Asif Nagar ACP K Ashok Chakravarthy said. Out of the 22 students, 18 are from Bihar and the rest are from Hyderabad. All the students are aged between eight and 11 years.
Except for two local students, rest of the students have been staying at the madrasa and pursuing the education.

The incident of sexual assault came to light on April 29 when an eight-year-old boy went to his house and told his father about Ansari raping him at the Madrasa.

The victim’s father who is a businessman, immediately went to madrasa and confronted Ansari. When he claimed innocence, the victim’s father spoke to other boys who were residential students and two of them came forward saying that Ansari had sexually assaulted them.

The victim’s father lodged a complaint with the Asif Nagar police against Ansari and a case was registered against the teacher who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education under section 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC, sections 5 and 6 of the POCSO Act.
Police then sent the victim to Bharosa centre for counselling. The other students at the Madrasa were also counselled by professionals at the Bharosa centre and their statements were recorded. We found out that Ansari has sexually assaulted six boys during the past two months, the ACP said. Ansari assaulted most of the boys in his room at the Madrasa.

A medical examination was conducted on the victims and the accused was remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday. Other instructors are conducting classes at the Madrasa and the families of the non local boys were informed about the incident.

A Guide To "Censorship In Pakistan"

The new old censorship: when power trumps truth
Last month, several regular English-language columnists were informed by editors that their columns would not be published.
For the first time in the 10 years he has written for The News, Mosharraf Zaidi’s article was not published by the newspaper.
Posting his article on Twitter, he wrote, “Strong nations cultivate robust debate. Weak ones fear it. Pakistan is stronger than it is allowed to be.”
Image
When lawyer Babar Sattar’s article was pulled out of the same newspaper, he tweeted it using the hashtag #TheAgeOfFreelyControlledMedia. Stories published in the newspaper have been deleted from its web edition. All of this falls under the "New Pajwa Doctrine"
While the press is no stranger to censorship in a country that has experienced decades under military dictatorship, today, divisions among the media have weakened its ability to resist undemocratic pressure.
This year, on World Press Freedom Day, the global call to protect independent journalism from attacks and ensure the prosecution of crimes against journalists coincides with a decline of media freedoms in Pakistan — that too, significantly, on the eve of a general election. Some politicians like Imran Khan are quite comfortable with the "new rules" !
Talat Aslam, editor at The News International, explains why: “We were told to lie low on reporting about it since it blows apart a huge part of the [security establishment’s] narrative. For years, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas were under a complete media blackout, we only received Inter-Services Public Relations statements about the numbers of militants killed. For the first time, we are hearing from its leaders about issues we have never spoken about. It was when the rhetoric was perceived as being anti-army, and when intervention of Kabul was suspected, that the blackout was ordered.”
For tribal journalists, they know only too well to stay on the right side of the military, said Rasool Dawar, a reporter from North Waziristan. For him, pushback against the press embargo by young Pakhtun activists on social media has not trickled down to him being able to write on similar issues, such as enforced disappearances.
The Jang Group’s Geo TV was pushed off the airwaves across most of the country — a ban neither sanctioned by the government’s media regulatory body, Pemra, nor its Ministry of Information.Cable operators claim they were instructed on what channels to bury down the lineup order or even remove. This is the unseen "hidden hand" that Ganja Sharif is "warning" the Awaam these days !
Many journalists and editors said they either receive ‘directives’ on what news to spike, or are self-censoring content, fearing a similar reprisal. Senior journalist Naseem Zehra viewed this as a reflection of the military establishment’s insecurity.
Recall when former president General Pervez Musharraf cracked down on private TV channels in 2007, political parties and editors alike rallied against the move. This time round, none of the opposition parties have protested against this high-handedness. Moreover, increased infighting between certain media groups has atomised the industry. The mainstream narrative in Pakistan about its press is that it is out of control, so when a media house is being asphyxiated and censorship ‘directives’ are followed by many media groups, it is not perceived as a damage to freedom of expression — even by sections of the media itself. But, given what is at stake, such repression portends disaster. Deep State also plays one media against the other - the carrot and stick approach . Doling out Govt Advertising ( a major source of newspaper revenue ) to those Media Houses which toe the line and practice self censorship

Track II fine, but no change in Pakistan talks stand: Govt

NEW DELHI: The government described Thursday the resumption of Neemrana Track II Dialogue with Pakistan as a part of the “normal process” of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. While the foreign ministry remained quiet on whether or not the government approved the dialogue, it said there’s no change in India’s position that terror and talks can’t go together.

TOI had first reported on Tuesday that the track II dialogue, which gets its name from the Neemrana fort in Rajasthan where it was first held in 1991-1992, had been revived by India and Pakistan. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said functional exchanges between the two sides have continued and is part of the “normal process” between the two countries.

“This is a meeting between two civil societies, this is a meeting which is part of people-to-people exchange... There is nothing new in it,” he told reporters, responding to questions on the issue. The original Track II initiative — the Neemrana Dialogue — received a fresh start with the visit of the group of experts to Islamabad recently. The Indian side was led by former foreign ministry secretary Vivek Katju, while the Pakistani side included former minister Javed Jabbar, among others.

Asked whether the dialogue had the backing of the ministry, Kumar did not give a direct reply, saying it was part of the normal process. He, however, said there was no change in India’s “clear and consistent” policy towards Pakistan.

“There is no dilution in our position that talks and terror cannot go together,” he said. Sources in Islamabad, according to PTI, said that experts from two sides discussed a number of issues, including Kashmir, Siachen, Sir Creek, terrorism, tensions along the line of control in Jammu and Kashmir and the regional situation. They said that the two sides will present their proposals to their government for consideration.

The Neemrana Dialogue was launched in early 1990s and included influential former diplomats, military veterans and academics, who had the unofficial backing from the foreign ministries of the two countries. The ties between India and Pakistan hit a low after Pakistan-based terror groups carried out a series of attacks in India in 2016. India has been maintaining that it will not engage in talks with Pakistan unless it stops crossborder terrorism.

UAE Emb Meets Paki Fauj Honcho.

UAE ambassador, COAS discuss UAE-Pakistan Assistance Programme projects: ISPR
RAWALPINDI: The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) ambassador to Pakistan Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement. During the meeting, the two dignitaries discussed matters of mutual interest and the UAE-Pakistan Assistance Programme (UPAP) projects under way in Pakistan, the military’s media wing said. A note of caution. :!: This is the ISPR version of the meeting . The UAE in recent months, has been "bad mouthing" the Pakis in their national media . The UAE Chief Of Police in Dubai advised potential employers not to employ Pakis because of their Pakistaniyat . And he publicly praised the Indians, rubbing further salt into their wounds . Is it possible that this "sensitive topic" might have been the subject of the discussion

X Posting Echendee aka H&D aka Honour & Dignity destroying news item from the Bangladesh News and Discussion thread to the Terroristan and Pakistan Economic Stress Watch threads.

Bangladesh does not have a “regional game changer” like CPEC aka the Conning Pakistan to Enrich China aka China Pakistan Economic Corridor to talk brag endlessly about nor indulgent john’s like the United States of America and the Peoples Republic of China, but they are doing a fine job in rapidly closing the per capita income gap created by the years of neo-colonial economic exploitation they as erstwhile East Pakistani’s were subject to by their fellow Momin Mohammaddens of the Punjabi Uniformed Jihadi Dominated Deep State of the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Ridding Bangladesh of the Mughal grandeur aspiring economic leeches of the Punjabi Uniformed Jihadi Dominated Deep State of the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan can be chalked down as one the many dividends of India’s liberation of Bangladesh in 1971 8) .

Paki Supreme Court Steps In To Stop Fauji Outfit From "Economically Raping" Karachi

SC bans Bahria Town from land dealings in Karachi
KARACHI: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday barred Bahria Town from the sale and purchase of land in Karachi after declaring the allotment of land to the company, and an exchange of land between the Malir Development Authority and Bahria Town illegal. The court, with a two-thirds majority, directed the National Accountability Bureau to file references against those responsible for legal violations and to decide the case within three months. Although , some Supreme Court " My Laards" have started making some legal noises and expressed alarms about the rapacious business dealings of the Fauji Enterprises, IMO, NAB will not touch this topic of Fauji corruption with a 10 foot pole

“The NAB is directed to investigate the case and file references against all those who are found responsible for committing, aiding and abetting the crime at any level or in any form,” the court order read. The court also requested the chief justice of Pakistan to constitute an implementation commission on the issue. In this case, gullible farmers were forced to sale their ancient land to Bahria Town under false pretenses !
The SC also held Bahria Town responsible for encroachment on forest land in Takht Pari area near Islamabad, and separately declared constructions in the Marri area illegal, ordering Bahria Town to stop work on Marri Housing Society. As is known to the Paki public , there is no business area , where the Paki Fauj has not muscled in to "make money" for the fauj, at the expense of civilians !
The court directed the relevant forest department, revenue department and the Survey of Pakistan to conduct a fresh demarcation in the Takht Pari area after issuing notices to the forest department and Bahria Town to submit a report within one month before the SC implementation bench. Let us see if suo moto Nisar has the guts to "rein in" the rapacious fauj and do the needful in this regard

X Posted on the Indus Water Treaty Thread

Pakistan authorities asked to 'forcefully' pursue with India 'violations' of Indus Water Treaty

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan top civil-military leadership has directed authorities to "forcefully" pursue the alleged violations of Indus Waters Treaty with India and the World Bank, the guarantor of the agreement.

The last round of talks between India and Pakistan over the issue was facilitated by the World Bank in Washington in September.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired the 21st meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) held at Prime Minister's House yesterday.

According to an official statement, the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission briefed the meeting on the water policy approved by the Council of Common Interests on April 24, 2018, along with a water charter, which was signed by the Prime Minister and the Chief Ministers of four provinces.

The Committee observed that this was a very significant achievement and if properly implemented could prove instrumental in averting the water crisis that was seriously threatening Pakistan.

Under the provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty, the waters of the eastern rivers - the Sutlej, Beas and Ravi - had been allocated to India and that of the western rivers -the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab - to Pakistan except for certain non-consumptive uses.

Pakistan had approached the World Bank in 2016, raising concerns over the designs of two hydroelectricity projects located in Jammu and Kashmir. It had demanded that the World Bank, which is the mediator between the two countries under the water distribution pact, set up a court of arbitration to look into its concerns.

"The (NSC) Committee also directed the Water Resources Division to forcefully pursue the violations of the Indus Water Treaty by India with the World Bank," according to the statement.

The Committee also reviewed the prevailing situation in the Indian Ocean Region and directed to keep a robust security posture for the maintenance of security and safeguarding national interests of Pakistan.

The participants reviewed the proposed administrative reforms package for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

No details of the reforms have been so far shared officially, but according to various media reports the reforms may include steps to further integrate Gilgit-Baltistan with Pakistan. It is the region though which the multibillion dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor passes.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Finance, Revenue & Economic Affairs Miftah Ismail, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Director General ISI Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar and National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua. Three Muppets and Six Muppeteers!

Whoa! I thought they had kissed and made up with a meal and everything. How did this happen? My guess is that the chini mai-baaps unilaterally decided to "relocate" their "chinjineers" back to their home cells but the pakis are taking all the credit (and saving face). Win-win situation (no pun intended).

ADB raises concern over CPEC’s debt burden on finances

MANILA: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Thursday raised concern about the debt burden of China Pakistan Economic Corridor- (CPEC) led infrastructure projects on Pakistan’s fragile finances.

“Countries should realise the economic viability of projects under belt and road initiatives,” Takehiko Nakao, ADB president told a news conference on day one of the ADB’s annual meeting.

“Sustainability, economic viability of such projects are difficult… investing borrowed money for infrastructure projects potentially pile up debt burden.”

Pakistan’s economy has seen growth accelerate in recent years but it has not been without problems. The economy witnessed over a decade-high growth of 5.3 percent during the last fiscal year and provisional 5.8 percent in the current fiscal year ending June 30. Current account deficit swelled to an eight-year high of five percent of the GDP or $12.029 billion in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2018. Government estimated current account deficit for the outgoing fiscal year at 4.4 percent or $13.7 billion, while it set a target of 3.8 percent or $12.5 billion for the next fiscal year.

The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have warned that the country’s macroeconomic picture has been deteriorating as its current account deficit widens.

Foreign reserves have also been dwindling for the last couple of years amid a spike in imports, including machinery for more than $50 billion worth of CPEC projects. Machinery imports account for almost a quarter of annual import bills of $53 billion.

Brokerage Topline Securities estimated that Pakistan needs to annually pay three to four billion dollars for a decade in loan repayments under CPEC after the fiscal year of 2019/20.

Machinery imports are, however, decelerating as CPEC-related projects are progressing to advance stage. China has remained a major thrust to foreign direct investment into Pakistan as it accounted for more than half of $2.094 billion of FDI in the July-March period.

Nakao said China-Pakistan economic cooperation is very impressive and “it has stabilised the macroeconomic indicators which have showed encouraging performance during recent years”. “The IMF is assessing the economic outlook of Pakistan and we will wait for the assessment and after that will see how much budgetary support the country needs for an interim period.”

The IMF has projected Pakistan’s external debt and liabilities could peak to $144 billion in the next five years from $93 billion in the current financial year of 2018. It also estimated that the country’s foreign currency reserves would continue to decline and could touch $7.075 billion by 2023 from $12.09 billion held by the State Bank of Pakistan.

More alarmingly, the total external debt servicing would reach $19.7 billion by 2023 against $7.739 billion in the FY 2018. The foreign debt servicing is projected to rise from $7.7 billion to $19.7 billion, indicating immense pressure on the country’s external accounts.

ADB President further said the bank wants to collaborate with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to meet the region’s growing investment needs and does not see the emerging China-led lender as a rival.

Nakao said although China is an important international lender and borrower, its rise and that of the AIIB would not be motivating factors behind any changes in the ADB’s future strategy. He said the two institutions are different in many ways, which mean they could collaborate more effectively.

“AIIB, it’s not the kind of threat to us,” he added. “We can cooperate with AIIB because we need larger investment in Asia and we can collaborate.”

He said the AIIB had observed very high standards in terms of its programmes and the AIIB and the ADB this year hoped to approve several projects which they would co-finance. He did not elaborate.

The two have so far jointly provided combined loans of more than $700 million for four infrastructure projects, three of them in South Asia.

Nakao, referring to US-China tensions, said the ADB is concerned about protectionism and trade troubles as Asia would suffer, but there are so far no signs of that.

The ADB has forecast growth of six percent for developing Asia this year, fuelled by solid export demand, but it has warned that US protectionist measures and subsequent retaliation could undermine trade.

“If trade is interrupted, it will have large damage to Asian countries as well as to other countries in the world. If this continues to escalate, it will have negative impact,” Nakao said. “At this moment it does not have impact on sentiment of people, investors and market players.”

The May meeting comes as the Japanese-led ADB, formed in 1966 to help pull millions of Asians out of poverty, is watching closely as China asserts itself internationally via its vaunted Belt and Road Initiative and pushes regional infrastructure plans with support of its state-owned banks and the AIIB.

Key topics to be discussed are free trade, globalisation, ageing populations, environmental degradation, gender equality and the trend towards automation.

Nakao said he was optimistic there were more opportunities in Asia to create jobs rather than lose them to machines and software, and said developments in technology were helping to boost equality among populations.

The ADB estimates developing Asia needs to invest $1.7 trillion per year in infrastructure until 2030 to maintain its growth momentum and the regional lender’s targets on poverty and climate change.

Nakao said along with infrastructure development and poverty reduction, there was a need to introduce social security and universal health care to Asian economies and make progressive tax reforms.

Politicians skip press freedom seminar
None of the politicians who had confirmed they would attend the Press Freedom Day event at the National Press Club on Thursday showed up. :rotfl:
in their 2013 manifestos, parties had vowed to play a role for the freedom of information and human rights, but they have hardly acted on any of their claims
“Over 80pc of the journalists in Pakistan face either threats to their life or their jobs. The media is also stopped from covering public meetings in which thousands of people participate”

Kissing up to the current boss! (no, not the peerni but the genrail)

Gen Bajwa is the most neutral and pro-democratic army chief: Imran Khan
When asked about Nawaz’s statement: “Jalsa Lahore da, Majma Pishor da te agenda kisay hor da,” meaning Imran's rally was staged in Lahore but the crowd was brought from Peshawar on someone else’s agenda, the PTI chairman said it is Nawaz who was the 'ladla' (favoured) of the judiciary and army in the past. "Nawaz is unsettled now because both the army and judiciary are neutral," he said, adding the incumbent army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, among his peers, is the most neutral and pro-democratic leader of the armed forces.
He said the same man who was raised in General Ziaul Haq's lap had suddenly become an advocate of democracy and a revolutionary.
Nawaz always played matches with his own umpires...in 1990, 1996 and 2013 [elections]
Imran said he is willing to arbitrate between the Pakistan Army and Pashtun TahafuzMovement (PTM). ..... "Talks should be held with the aggrieved youth," said Imran. However, he criticised the anti-army slogans raised by members of the movement. "They should not do propaganda against the army," he said.
"I was called Taliban Khan when I spoke against the decision to conduct the military operation and sending our own army against our own people," he said.
"It is a huge crime to use your own forces against your own people," said Imran.
I too will become a terrorist if you kill my family.

Pakjabis "Not Welcome" In Balochistan !

Six Punjabi labourers shot dead in Balochistan
KHARAN – An incident of targeting labourers occurred in Kharan on Friday where at least six men were gunned down.
According to local media, unidentified attackers, who apparently want to impede development in Pakistan, opened fire on the labourers in the Laijay area in Kharan district of Balochistan. The labourers — all hailing from Punjab — were working on a mobile tower when they were targeted, Levies officials said.
The assailants escaped unhurt from the spot after the attack, they added. They are locals who are waging a guerilla war against the exploiting Pakjabis !
Moreover, Levies and personnel from other law enforcement agencies reached the site and launched an investigation into the incident soon thereafter.
Militants have repeatedly targeted labourers from Punjab and Sindh working in various parts of Balochistan. And hopefully will keep on targeting these colonizers
Four Sindhi labourers working on the construction of a road were killed in April 2017 by suspected militants in Balochistan’s Kharan.
Balochistan ( and specially the capital Quetta ) is becoming a "no-go" area for Pakjabis and other exploiters !

PESHAWAR – More than 30 animals breathed their last in the Peshawar Zoo in a short span of three months since it was inaugurated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak. According to an investigative report unveiled on Thursday, certain factors were responsible for the tragic death of animals after the zoo was inaugurated in February 2018.Headed by Additional Secretary Higher Education Kabir Afridi, the committee found that more than 30 species of bird and a Nilgai died in the zoo primarily due to respiratory ailments. Another case of negligence, lack of due diligence , etc etc

One More Attempt "To Fix The Quetta Problem"

‘Eagle Force’ established in Quetta to capture terrorism, street crime

'Eagle Force’ established in Quetta to capture terrorism, street crime

by Mahmood Idrees | Published on May 4, 2018

QUETTA – Balochistan police have established a special force, adopting a new strategy to prevent terrorism and street crimes in Quetta.
The 400 personnel of the newly formed “Eagle Force” have started patrolling the sensitive areas on 200 bikes in the violence-hit city with an aim to restore peace. The troops have been trained by Pakistan Army. The Provincial Government and Police Department launched the new forces following recent terror and sectarian attacks in the city.“They have been trained to halt ambush, re-attack and other special training during two months course under Pakistan Army, they have 4 to 5 area based formation which they will pursue following the sensitivity of the streets.” a local media quoted DIG Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema as saying.A party of Eagle force consists of 8 personnel, who will patrol the given areas on four bikes to prevent any ambush.“They have been fully trained physically while riding motor bikes they will be fully equipped to counter target killing and street crimes in Quetta city.” Abdul Razaaq Cheema added. The DIG further said that foundation stone of the Quetta Safe City Project will be laid down this week. CCTV cameras will be installed around the city to help identify the suspects. Quetta is the capital of Baluchistan . The whole of Balochistan is slowly slipping away from the control of the Paki Fauj , due to the Balochi uprising . In the past Chinis connected to the CPEC were and are targets of attack by the local Balochis . Every week, media reports that either someone was robbed, attacked , or even killed . The Chinese Govt has "advised" the Paki Govt to ensure security of their citizens , who are here to "colonize" Pakistan  . The Paki Govt is trying all sorts of "gimmicks" to put the lid down on these uprisings. Just last week, the COAS was here to "pacify" the Hazaras . So, this latest ("Eagle Force" ) can be looked at in this context !

PS: It is essential that the Deep State ensure that Quetta is "normal" . Quetta is also the HQ of the Taliban's so-called Quetta Shura

Pakistani cafe starts hiring transgender persons

But in a survey taken in 2013, by the "premiere" PEW CENTER of Massaland, 80+% of Paki Aam Abduls wanted Sharia to "govern their lives". Not sure what is going on over here. Either the Aam Abduls are not aware of the transgender hiring ( no cafes have yet been set on fire !) or just in a span of 4 years , due to the "liberalization and globalization " that is sweeping the globe, the influence of Malsi has waned . If so, Islam is really in danger in Pakistan !!! Food for thought

PS: Or Taqiyya ( ie window dressing !) in action . "Liberal Face" of Pakiland being shown to the world via internet

Here Is One Case Of "Swift Justice" Being Meted Out Presumably Because Of The Pro-Active Chief Justice Of Pakiland

Three men get 10-year jail term for raping mentally challenged woman
BADIN, Sindh – Three people were on Friday sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment each for the gang-rape a mentally challenged woman in the village of Muhammad Yusaf Khoso near Badin. The convicts Ali Nawaz Mallah, Abdul Wahid Mallah and Muhammad Soomar Mallah received the sentence in the court of the second additional district and sessions judge Badin Abdul Wahab Tunio. On September 2017, the victim girl had gone to collect fodder for livestock in her village when they had gang-raped. After the verdict was read out, all three convicts were sent to Central Jail Hyderabad to serve their sentences.
The "incident" happened in September 2017 , and the culprits are in jail - in less than one year . There is a "slight possibility" that the "watchful eye" of the all-knowing CJ of Pakiland might well be a factor in this quick disposal of the case

Modi-ji's Facebook Coverage Publicity In World Media Irks The Pakis - So They Come Out With Their Own "Blowing The (Paki) Horn"

Pakistan government achieves unique distinction on Facebook
4 May, 2018
LAHORE: Pakistan government has achieved a unique achievement as *Government of Pakistan’s official <link> <link>Facebook <link> page has secured a spot among the “Top 10 Most Active Governments on Facebook”.
According to a globally reputed study conducted by Burson Cohn and Wolfe, and first shared by Twitter handle @Twiplomacy, the Pakistani government has been named the seventh “most active world leader” on the social networking giant with 6,875 posts in the year 2017 and an average of 16 updates per day.
It is worth mentioning here that the proactive behaviour of the country’s government organisations on social media has reached a new high within the past seven years with the government aiming to “revolutionise” the Information Technology (IT) industry, especially in Punjab. Some of the laudable acts of the incumbent government include the establishment of the Dr Umar Saif-led Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) that has assisted not only the federal government at instances, but also brought about the much needed reforms in the world of IT in Pakistan while digitising records, providing ease of access to the people and leaving the country’s digital footprint in the modern IT world. :(( The pathetic attempt to do an = = with the "usual buzz words"
The Botswana government tops the said list with 15,251 posts, while the government of Pakistan is preceded and succeeded by the governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rossello (6,949 posts) and the Russian Foreign Ministry (6,035), respectively. So, Pakiland is competing with Botswana not India !
In a separate list by Twiplomacy, United States President Donald Trump has been named “The Most Interactive World Leader”, with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi securing the second place in the list. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in the list sits at the seventh position.
So, this earlier news has "generated" this "farticle" - Pakistan is not to be left behind in any mention of IT ( not international terrorism of course  )
According to the list, Donald Trump posts an average of five times per day, more than twice as much as the Indian prime minister and, since January 1, 2017, his page has accrued 204.9 million interactions (comments, likes and shares), almost twice as many as Narendra Modi with 113.6 million interactions. Modi-ji is NOT # 1, so that is SOME kind of consolation here !!!
On Wednesday, another study named “World Leaders on Facebook” by the same organisation had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the most “liked” world leader on <link> <link>Facebook <link> , much ahead of US President Donald Trump. So, not "everyone" is buying Pakiland's version of Modiji being a leader of Hindus onlee

Pakistan Still Yearns For The Golden Age Of Mughal / Muslim Rule In India

Pakistan praises while India laments the great warrior Tipu Sultan
Last year, President Ram Nath Kovind had hailed Tipu Sultan , saying he died a heroic death fighting the British, remarks that came in the backdrop of protests by the BJP in Karnataka against his glorification.‏There had been a hue and cry over Tipu Sultan 's celebration last year.
Last year, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah had hit out at BJP chief Amit Shah for attacking his government for celebrating ‘Tipu Jayanti’. "We celebrate birthdays of 26 leaders & builders of #NavaKarnataka. @AmitShah in a desperate attempt to communalise, picks on Tipu Jayanthi," Siddaramaiah said in a tweet."Election is coming! It brings tourists like @AmitShah who display ignorance about our state & call #KannadaRajyotsava as 'Karnatak Mahotsav'," he claimed.

Confirm Once Again The Dictum " If The Product Or Service Is Defective Or Not Up To Standard , No Amount Of PR- Giri Is Going To Fix The Problem

Video: 'New Islamabad Airport but same people'
Pakistan on Thursday opened its largest airport in Islamabad, more than a decade after its foundation stone was laid.
Commercial flights were operated from the Islamabad International Airport a couple of days after its formal inaugural by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at a ceremony. As people started arriving at the airport, chaotic scenes were witnessed in the luggage area of the terminal. But it was not caused by anything that could be blamed on authorities.
It may take "only ten years" to build the airport, but it may take more than ten decades ( hopefully !) to "build up" the behaviour of the Aam Abduls . For this change to occur in the behaviour, Madrassah Education is a hindrance , rather than a help . Education begins at home !!!
The incident was filmed by an unnamed passenger who later posted it on the Facebook. The video was posted on a Facebook page with a caption: "New Islamabad Airport but same people. How change comes "
Since then it has been widely circulated on different social media platforms, with users asking their countrymen to behave. Is anyone listening. This is a city where an ex fauji can challenge the authority of a traffic cop and calls on his ex colleagues by phone to come and rough up the policeman!
"I was on first duty at airport. But feel shocked to see people throwing garbage everywhere where. Even washrooms were used badly. And even destroyed plants and flowers," commented a user who happened to by there as the airport welcomed its first passengers. Doubt that the situation would be different in the so -called VIP section of the airport as well
Image
Another came up with an advice to prevent this from happening again."But strict administration n fine would make them humans. Can u expect this in Dubai with same people and same nationality no because of strict rule. In Pakistan, rules are meant to be broken. Drop off "important names " ( like I am the son of ( so and so )... or my mother is (so and so ) then you do not get to stand in line etc etc

Citing some staff members, Naz Shah said the airport is not fully equipped and has been opened prematurely. The Pakistani-origin British lawmaker ended her tweet with the word "embarrassing" preceded by a hashtag.
