Deep State Says "That It Has Nothing To Do" With The Disappearance Of Missing Activist Raza Khan

Raza not in agencies’ custody: LHC told

LAHORE: The defence ministry on Monday told the Lahore High Court that missing rights activist Raza Mahmood Khan was not in the custody of any agency working under its control.

A report submitted by a deputy attorney general on behalf of the ministry stated that the agencies working under the ministry’s administrative control -- Military Intelligence (MI) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) -- had intimated that the alleged missing person was not in their custody. Representing the petitioner, Advocate Asad Jamal argued before the court that the police had not carried out a proper investigation into the case and also failed to protect the evidence of the kidnapping incident. Most likely, he has "gone upstairs", his body dumped somewhere, but not yet found . !

He pointed out that the police even had not recorded statement of a citizen who reported the incident on police emergency helpline 15. Justice Raja Shahid Mahmood Abbasi adjourned the hearing till May 10 and summoned investigations SP concerned along with a detailed report on the incident. Hamid Nasir Mahmood had filed the habeas corpus petition contending that his brother Raza Khan was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified persons on December 2, 2017 from his Model Colony residence.

He said Naseerabad police registered a kidnap case against unknown suspects but failed to recover his brother or make any arrest.He asked the court to order the police to recover his brother and produce him before the court.

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Tuesday passed the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2018 aimed at ensuring rights of transgender persons with majority vote by rejecting amendments proposed by JUI-F lawmaker Naeema Kishwer Khan.

Opposing the bill, JUI-F lawmaker Naeema Kishwer Paki "she" wolf in sheep's clothing said the bill should be referred to the standing committee for detailed deliberation. She moved a motion and amendments to refer the bill to Council of Islamic Ideology and the standing committee. Surely she does not fear "competition" from the "hijra", one hopes :mrgreen:

Mover of the bill, Syed Naveed Qamar said that detailed discussions were carried out on the bill the standing committee of the Senate and requested the House to pass the bill. Ayesha Sayyad of Jamaat-i-Islami also opposed the bill and maintained that the bill should be referred to the standing committee. Strangely all the objections seem to be coming from the Islami Ayeshas

Under the proposed law, the Transgender persons will be able to register to obtain a driver’s licence and passport. They will have the option to get their gender changed in National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) records. Everything seems "fine" on paper. Implementation - in the Islamic environment of Pakiland - might be another matter entirely !

Harassment of transgenders will also be prohibited in and outside their homes. They will not be discriminated against by educational institutions, employers, in trade and health services, and when using public transport and buying or selling or renting property. Ditto !

The government will establish a safe house for transgenders and provide them medical and educational facilities and psychological counselling. Separate rooms will be established at jails where transgenders could be detained. Where is the money going to come from . The fauj has already "hogged" most of the funds

In addition to all basic rights, they will be entitled to inherit property. The government will take steps to ensure employment opportunities for transgenders and they will have the right to vote in all national, provincial and local government elections and they will not be discriminated against in their pursuit of a public office. With all these "modern actions" , it is hoped that Pakistan's negative image- in the rest of the world - will now be rehabilitated.

Anyone found guilty of forcing a transgender person to beg will be sentenced to six months in prison and served a fine of Rs50,000. The Senate has already passed the bill.

ISLAMABAD – In a major blow to embattled Senator-elect Ishaq Dar, Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered on Tuesday to suspend his Senate membership.Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar issued the orders while hearing a petition, moved by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Nawazish Pirzada, had requested the apex court to suspend the Lahore High Court judgment allowing Dar to contest the March 3 Senate elections. He was successfully elected to the Senate from Punjab on March 3, 2018, as an independent PML-N-backed candidate but is yet to be administered the oath.The top judge, during the hearing, asked when Dar will appear before the court, to which, former finance minister’s legal counsel Advocate Salman Aslam Butt replied that his client was ill.During the last hearing on Monday, a medical report was submitted to the court, stating that Dar has been suffering from left arm and chest pains resulting from a spinal issue in his neck and may require surgery if his condition does not improve within a month.The report, which was issued by the London Neurosurgery Partnership and dated April 26, has also had a cardiac problem and had to undergo an emergency stent implant in the past, Dawn News reported.On April 24, the apex court had summoned former finance minister, assuring protective bail on his return.On February 17, an appellate election tribunal of the LHC had granted Dar permission to contest Senate elections, setting aside an order of the returning officer (RO) who had rejected his nomination papers.Dar has been out of the country since October last year on account of his medical treatment. He has since been declared a proclaimed offender in the corruption case filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau.

IMO, this former finance minister and fraudster could not care less about his fate in Pakiland. No 'circus', 'neelam ghar' to be allowed on TV this Ramazan: IHC

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui said on Tuesday while hearing a case concerning the implementation of the broadcast regulator's code of conduct for Ramazan transmissions and morning shows on television.

Justice Siddiqui ordered that the airing of the Azan (call to prayer) five times a day must also be made mandatory for all channels. "There is no bigger breaking news for Muslims than the Azan," he said.

"Channels air dance, music and advertisements at Azan timings. PTV has also stopped airing Azan," he regretted.

"If things are to continue this way, let's remove 'Islamic Republic' from Pakistan's name," he said.

Saudi Arabia reduces tourist visa fee for India – but not for Pakistan

A Pakistani has to pay Rs0.1 million to Rs0.4 million for getting the tourist visa for KSA.

ISLAMABAD – The Saudi Arabia government has announced to soften its visa policy for India, slashing the visa fee by a considerable amount, continuing the same old plan for Pakistan.

Providing relaxation in the visa for the citizens of India, the Saudi government has reduced 90-day visit visa fee from 2,000 Riyal to 305 Riyal. Likewise, the fee has also been reduced for 180 and 360 days visa.

However, Pakistanis tourists who pay Rs0.1 million to Rs0.4 million for Saudi visa would not be able to avail this opportunity as the policy remains the same.

The reduction in the fee was initially denied by Saudi Gazette (leading English-language daily newspaper published in Jeddah), however, it has now been confirmed that Saudi Arabia actually lessened the fee for Indian travellers by over 84 percent.

Etimad, Visa Service Centre in Pakistan has also confirmed that Saudi Arabia reduced the fee for Indian commuters on May 1st, while no such liberty was granted to Pakistani travellers.

What gives credence to the reduction in visa fee is the fact that Saudi Gazette – which denied rumours about the move – has now taken down the link, for the said story, from its digital version, however, the hard copy is still available on its Facebook page.

Last year, the Saudi government had decided to promote Hajj, Umrah, business and culture activities. The Arab country’s government also plans to build more visiting places across the kingdom.

According to the estimated figure, the Saudi government would spend 35 billion pounds on tourism till 2020. By 2030, around 30 million tourists are expected to visit Saudi Arabia annually.

The Saudi embassy in Pakistan and Pakistan’s foreign office has yet to respond.

Migration and remittances fact book 2016 say remittances from Pakistan to India as 4.9 but from India to Bangladesh as 4.6. I do not know what model this is based on. India is a passthrough from ISI to Bangladesh (even if it is not true India should start an inquiry)? There must be remittances from India to Pakistan too.

I recall reading that the numbers presented were from a model which didn't take reality into account

and these numbers were debunked by both sides.

In a rare occurrence, India and Pakistan vehemently agreed that this document was bullsh!t.

Mani Shankar Aiyar in Pakistan, says Savarkar was first proponent of two-nation theory

LAHORE: Suspended Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar on Monday kicked off yet another controversy by saying that Hindu Mahasabha leader VD Savarkar was first proponent of two-nation theory and added that he invented the term "Hindutva" to create religious divide in the society.
His remark come at time when Mohammed Ali Jinnah's portrait at the Aligarh Muslim University has sparked off a row. Diplomatic etiquette requires that you do not criticize your own country on foreign soil. Even Assaduddin Owaisa, Muslim MP from Hyderabad refused to "bad mouth" India on a trip to Pakistan . Maybe, Aiyar should be better off staying in Pakiland !

The Congress party, however, distanced from his remark, saying that Aiyar should retire from politics and sit at home.The Congress had suspended Aiyar from its primary membership and slapped a show-cause notice on him for his "neech" remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which had mushroomed into a massive controversy just ahead of the Gujarat polls.

"Situation in India is an abhorrent one. In 1923, a man called V D Savarkar in his book invented a word which doesn't exist in any religious text, 'Hindutva'."So, first proponent of two-nation theory was ideological guru of those who are currently in power in India," Aiyar said at an event in Lahore."Approximately 70 per cent of Indian electorate did not vote for Modi in the last election, but lost because they were completely fractioned among themselves. His Paki supporting remarks must have been a welcome refresher in Pakistan and will no doubt to used for propaganda purposes in the future !

"It is my fervent hope ... that a great fraction of this 70 per cent who did not vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the last election, will come together adequately to be able to put an end to the aberration that we have been suffering in our country," he said.

Aiyar further said that he referred to Jinnah as the "Quaid-e-Azam" and the hysterical Indian TV anchors were demanding to know how an Indian could go to Pakistan and say this. "I know many Pakistanis who called M.K. Gandhi as Mahatma Gandhi; does that make them unpatriotic Pakistanis?" he added.

BJP president Amit Shah attacked Aiyar and the Congress party for his remark and tweeted: "Congress and Pakistan have amazing telepathy. Yesterday (Sunday) Pakistan government remembered Tipu Sultan, whose Jayanti Congress marks with fanfare and today Mr.Mani Shankar Aiyar admires Jinnah. Be it Gujarat or Karnataka polls, I fail to understand why Congress involves Pakistan!"

Abdul Aziz to resume Friday sermons at Lal Masjid, Shuhada Foundation announces

The Islamabad Capital Terrirtory (ICT) administration has earlier stated that Aziz had ceased to be khateeb after the orders of his appointment were withdrawn in 2004 following a fatwa he issued against the army and its operation in Waziristan.

LAHORE :Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration arrested three passengers over various charges at Allama Iqbal Airport on Monday. According to an FIA spokesman, a passenger Babar Hussain of Mansehra arrived from Dubai and presented his Exit Passport (EP) for immigration clearance. The reason for deportation was mentioned as the illegal immigrant. As per passenger details, he went to Muscat on work visa from Lahore airport on October16,2015. In October 2017, he went to Dubai illegally without traveling documents with the connivance of an agent. Another passenger, Zafar Nawaz, arrived by flight No QR- 620 from Muscat on the EP with the reason illegal immigrant

surrender in the embassy. As per details, passenger traveled to Dubai on a visit visa in the year 2016. From there, he traveled to Muscat through border crossing. Another passenger Umair Ahmad traveled to Kenya by flight No WY342. During immigration clearance, his particulars
got hit in black list category. Reason for black list was stated to be illegal entry/deported from Bucharest. The passengers sent to Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) for legal action. Further investigation is under way. Deportation is becoming an epidemic , if not an endemic !

Teacher kills girl for refusing her brother’s marriage proposal, commits suicide

A teacher gunned down her student on Monday at the former’s house in North Nazimabad after the teenage girl refused to marry the woman’s brother. The teacher then shot herself dead as well.

District Central SSP Dr Rizwan Ahmed Khan said the police were informed of an incident of firing inside a house in Kausar Niazi Colony, located in Block-H of North Nazimabad, where a Quran teacher shot dead her student and then committed suicide.

SSP Khan said the teacher’s family informed the police, who found the woman and the girl dead at the house. He said a team of the Haidery police station reached the crime scene and took the bodies from there to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for their autopsies.

The officer said the deceased were identified as 26-year-old Nasreen and 16-year-old Rabia. He said Nasreen had offered that her brother and Rabia get married, but the teenager’s family refused the offer. However, he added, Rabia’s family did not stop her from going to Nasreen’s house for her Quran education. Is the job of a "Quran Teacher" to also act a "marriage broker" also . For ~~God's~~ Allah's sake, the "student" is only 16 years old !!!

The SSP said Nasreen’s family told the police that Rabia had arrived at their house on Monday evening as per her schedule, and a while later they heard gunshots from one of the rooms. The family claimed that they ran towards the room and found it locked from the inside, so they broke the door down and found Nasreen and Rabia dead, added the officer. Doubt if anyone can be charged under "Islamic Sharia"

He said it seems that Nasreen first killed Rabia and then she took her own life by shooting herself once in the head, adding that the police have found a TT pistol and bullet casings from the crime scene and sent them to the forensic division for examination.SSP Khan said the police have launched their investigation, adding that there are many questions that need to be answered. He said the police will share their findings with the public on completing their probe. Lots of unanswered questions, including if she was qualified to be a Teacher Of The Book

EVER so often an absurd piece of information tends to go viral and sparks theory construction on an epic scale. Most recently there is the example of a report, hosted on the World Bank website, which uses a model based on the stock of migrants in each country and their income levels to try and generate a guess about how much they would send back in remittances to their country of origin. The model mistakenly included all migrants from India who settled in Pakistan after Independence in its calculation and came up with the figure of $4.9bn as an estimate of the remittances they would be sending back to India. Since the report was hosted on the World Bank website, people took the number seriously. One television anchor even floated a conspiracy theory around this figure, fuelling all manner of lurid speculation about the reality behind this number. The research presenting this data was released in December 2015, and has lived on in the media, rumour mills and social media space ever since, periodically popping up couched in astonishing claims. And this information has now been used to further demonize Ganja Sharif

Unfortunately for those who were partaking of this spectacle, the only reality behind this number is that it does not exist. It is a flawed guess because those who migrated from India and became Pakistani citizens after 1947 do not send back remittances. This absurd saga reached such proportions that the State Bank has just had to issue a formal denial of the figure and present the real remittance flows that go from Pakistan to India. Last year, this figure was $116,000. The speed with which such ungrounded information can spread says something about the willingness, or desire, of people to believe it. For years, another absurd number circulated suggesting that $200bn of Pakistani money was parked in Swiss Bank accounts, when the real figure was actually one-hundredth of that. These sorts of myths get sucked up very fast in our political culture which is saturated with disinformation and conspiracy theories as it is. Even when the absurdity of the figure is revealed, many people continue to argue in favour of its veracity because they have internalised it deeply and built large castles in their minds with its imagined implications. It is important that such disinformation not be allowed to circulate for very long, because its effects can go beyond humour and become pernicious the longer they survive unchallenged. Ganja's lawyer, if they are "smart" , should show this editorial as evidence that the NAB probe against Ganja Sharif re. the $ 4.9 Billion remittance to India - to paint him as an Indian Agent is absurd . ! But the idea over here is not to do a real investigation . He ( Ganja ) has been found guilty on so many counts, that one more charge is not going to make a difference to him !!

Pakistani man pleads guilty in rare foreign agent case

ASHINGTON – A Pakistani man pleaded guilty in the US federal court in Maryland over failing to disclose lobbying work on behalf of the Pakistani government, the Justice Department said Monday.Nisar Ahmed Chaudhry, 71, who admitted to working as an unregistered foreign agent since 2012, faces a maximum prison term of five years when he is sentenced in July.

A federal law known as the Foreign Agents Registration Act (Fara) requires people to disclose to the Justice Department when they lobby or perform other political activities in the US on behalf of foreign governments. But the Justice Department has rarely brought criminal cases, choosing instead to encourage people to comply with the law rather than prosecute them when they fail to do so.As part of his plea, Chaudhry, of Columbia, Maryland, admitted to secretly acting as an agent for the Pakistani government in an effort to get information about, and influence, US government policies toward Pakistan.

Prosecutors say, Chaudhry, who represented himself as the president of the Pakistan American League, organised round-table discussions in the Washington area aimed at influencing US policy and also travelled to Pakistan to brief government officials there on information that he had learnt from American contacts. Chaudhry told US government officials, including Customs and Border Protection agents, and think-tank contacts that his work was solely educational in nature and not affiliated with the Pakistani government, the Justice Department said. Marvi Memon, chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), said it took four years to pass the bill in its current form, and expressed hope that the bill would be also passed by the Senate. If the Islam Brigade is "powerful" in the Senate, The Bill may face problems !

She added that, with the introduction of this bill, acid-related crimes have declined and the Pakistani documentaries that won Oscar Award were also encouraged by such legislation.Pakistani human rights activists hailed the passage of the landmark bill. “It’s a very positive development that parliamentarians have realised the significance of the issue and agreed on a holistic approach to offer relief to the victims,” Khan told Gulf News.
Details of the bill are yet to be made public but what makes it historic is the fact that “it addresses the need of the citizens who have been the victim of violence by offering them services including rehabilitation, reintegration and legal aid.” The next step is the passage of from the upper house of the parliament.

“Once passed from Senate, the bill would go a long way to serve as an exemplary model for all the unacceptable forms of gender based violence in Pakistan” she hoped.

According to the latest data, 85 per cent of the acid attacks occurred in Punjab followed by Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad Capital Territory and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

After 6 years, phone services restored in restive Waziristan

Islamabad: Residents of Pakistan’s tribal South Waziristan region will now have access to communication services like internet and mobile phones as cellular services would be restored after at least six years of suspension.“Within the next 10 to 12 days, cellular services will be restored in the area,” the political administration officials said on Saturday.

The decision to relaunch services was declared after an improvement in the law and order situation in the region. In fact, the agitation in Waziristan has increased due to the PTM Movement and may be one way to placate the tribal Abduls !

In April 2018, the political administration of Mohmand Agency restored cellular network coverage in the region after a gap of one year.Mobile phone services were suspended in South Waziristan Agency due to security reasons and to impede all means of communication between terrorists. the good or the bad terrorists

The Pakistan Army launched an aggressive military operation, Operation Rah-e-Nijat, against militants in South Waziristan in 2009. The tribal citizens of Wana have welcomed the move and expressed joy over the restoration of mobile phone service.

Talking to Gulf News, Javed Wazir, a member of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), said that “the cellular services as well as a reduction in number of security check posts in the region will improve means of communication and transportation for the people of South Waziristan.”

The abolition of unnecessary checkpoints and revival of communication services were they key demands of PTM — an organisation working for the rights of those affected by the war on terror in Tribal Areas especially those from South Waziristan. At the same time, the COAS has ruled out discussing the topic of "missing persons" which is THE MAIN DEMAND of the PTM Movement !

Recently, Pakistan’s army announced that the number of check-posts in South Waziristan had been reduced from 32 to five.Inspector General of Frontier Corps-South, Maj Gen-Abid Latif Khan, said the initiatives have been made possible only after the return of normality to the area.Earlier in April, military authorities transferred their responsibilities to civil administration after ten years of efforts for restoration of peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s militancy-hit Malakand division.

World Bank "Rubbishes" Paki Govt Report Which Says That Ganja Sharif Laundered $ 4.90 Billion From Pakiland To India

Media Statements About Ex-PM Nawaz Sharif in Our Report Are Wrong: World Bank

The World Bank, on Tuesday, denied media reports regarding allegations on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of sending $4.9 billion from Pakistan to India through money laundering, citing the World Bank’s Remittances and Migration Report of 2016.

“These media reports were incorrect”, said a statement issued by the World Bank adding that the World Bank’s Remittances and Migration Report is an effort by the organization to estimate migration and remittances numbers across the world. So, to ensure demonization of Nawaz, the report was misused by Paki authorities to further demonize Ganja Sharif, his extended family and his PML Party !

It clarified that the report does not include any mention of money laundering nor does it name any individuals. Paki media- with or without Govt complicity - is always looking for reports which glory Pakiland or underplay criticism of the First Islami Atomi Takat . However these "tactics" are not working nowadays in this day and age of social media !

In the report, the World Bank estimates bilateral remittances between countries using the methodology summarized in the World Bank Working Paper 102 South-South migration and remittances by the authors of the report, the statement added. The World Bank’s press release also referred to a statement by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) which also rejected estimates of US$4.9 billion remittances from Pakistan to India on September 21 2016, refuting the “$4.9 billion remittances” number and providing an explanation of the methodology used in the World Bank report and the official remittances numbers.

Italian-Pakistani Sana Cheema was strangled: forensic report

GUJRAT: Italian-Pakistani woman, Sana Cheema, who was reportedly killed in a so-called case of honour killing was strangled to death, revealed a forensic report on Wednesday.According to the Punjab Forensic Laboratory report, Sana’s neck bone was broken.On April 24, it was reported that Sana was killed by her father, brother, and uncle over ‘honour’. Police said that the 26-year-old woman’s family had termed her death an ‘accident’ and buried the body in West Mangowal area of District Gujrat on April 18. So, the family "lied" to the police to protect their Echendee !

According to the police, the girl’s father, identified as Ghulam Mustafa, wanted to marry her off to his relative but Sana wanted to marry of her own choice in Italy. In this day and age of globalization and social media, more such scenarios are becoming common and the first generation Pakis are getting alarmed that "their" girls are straying away from the straight and narrow of Malsi !

The father then took on board his son, Adnan Mustafa, and brother, Mazhar Iqbal, and hatched a plan to kill her a day before she was expected to return to Italy. Such phenomenon is becoming common in Paki families in US and Canada also where the father enlists the support of his sons to "do away" with his daughter , in the name of protecting their so-called "Honor And Dignity"

On the issue, the Italian foreign ministry had remarked that it has kept an eye on the case, adding that it is determined to reach to the bottom of the case. The ministry also said that it is willing to cooperate with Pakistani authorities over the issue.Moreover, the case also garnered attention on social media and people in Italy posted pictures demanding #JusticeforSana and #TruthforSana.

It now remains to be seen what kind of damage control exercise the Paki Govt resorts to "in order to protect the ( good !) name of Pakistan "

6.4 magnitude earthquake shakes the country

The quake tremors shook Lahore, Islamabad and other parts of Pakistan on Wednesday. The media reports further stated that jolts were also felt in Sargodha, Deer, Chitral, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Multan, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Pindi Bhattian, FATA, Swat and other regions of the country.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) the magnitude of the quake was 6.4 with epicentre at Hindukush Mountains with the depth of 97 kilometres.

Doctors suspended for holding dance party at hospital in North Waziristan

PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Zafar Iqbal Jhagra has suspended two health officials for holding a dance party in the Agency Headquarters hospital in North Waziristan

The governor issued the orders to suspend a medical superintendent and a surgeon of the hospital located in Miranshah after the video was shared on the social media, local media reported.In the video, three females can be seen dancing while a large number of people were present to enjoy the party.The dance party was arranged at night in the hospital to celebrate a wedding ceremony, it is learnt. The late-night programme caused troubles for patients.

Ordering a probe into the matter, the governor has sought a detailed report from authorities as soon as possible.

PS : Not sure, now if the doctors were booked for abusing hospital property for social purposes or booked for having "fun and frolic" in the conservative KP Province . Paki authorities, in the past , have clamped down on Abduls "having fun and entertainment" , which is deemed as "haram"
