KARACHI: The value of the US dollar hit an all-time high of Rs128.26 in the interbank market on Monday, according to forex dealers. The US dollar rose by Rs6.75 in the interbank market today, the forex dealers said.
IOW's , the slide in the Pakistani Rupee has not hit rock bottom yet !
As the market opened, the rate of dollar soared to a high of Rs126, then went to Rs125.50 before rising once again to Rs127.50 and then further spiking to Rs128.26. In the open market, the US dollar rose by Rs4 taking the rate to Rs128.20.At the close of business on Friday, the rate of dollar closed on Rs121.54 in interbank foreign exchange market. When contacted by Reuters, a central bank spokesperson attributed the rupee’s decline to market forces.“Market forces are driving the exchange rate,” Abid Qamar, the central bank spokesperson, told Reuters via text message.
IOW's , just like Musharaff, Pakistan itself is living beyond its means !
Increasing imports and a widening current account deficit were cited as the possible reasons for the hike in the value of the foreign currency.

Dus Percenti Zardari Does A 180* . Comes Out In Support Of Ganja Sharif And His PML Party

Zardari slams terrorism cases against PML-N members
July 16, 2018
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former president Asif Ali Zardari has condemned initiation of terrorism cases against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz workers in Punjab, saying every citizen has the democratic right to hold rallies and public meetings. “Political activists are the strength of democracy and democratic process,” Mr Zardari said in a statement issued by his party’s Central Media Office on Sunday. The former president also expressed concerns over curbs on freedom of expression, saying his party would not tolerate such steps. He boasted that there was no political prisoner during the five years of the PPP government, from 2008 to 2013.
The top PPP leader issued the statement a day after it was reported that PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, his son Hamza Shahbaz, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and 50 other leaders of the party had been booked under terrorism and other charges for “inciting” the crowd to violate law in Lahore on Friday at the time of arrival of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz from London.
Without naming Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, who passed some objectionable remarks against the PML-N workers and leaders, Mr Zardari said that “bullet and bad-mouthing are the enemies of democracy”.
Maybe, he is sensing the political wind, and what the Deep State is planning for him as well and decided that offense is the best defence
The former president said that despite security concerns, PPP chairman and his son Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari could not be kept away from the people.Condemning firing on rally of a PPP candidate in Dadu, he asked the Sindh government to immediately arrest the culprits.
In a separate statement, PPP spokesman Senator Moula Bakhsh Chandio criticised the caretaker government and the ECP for not taking adequate measures to provide security to election candidates in the wake of recent terrorist attacks in the country.
Just the other day, Zardari was "taking pleasure" in the political mishaps of Ganja and his PML Party, and vowed no cooperation with Nawaz. Politics did indeed makes strange bedfellows !

Pakistani Hindu teen commits suicide to protest against harassment

July 15, 2018
16-year-old Pakistani Hindu teen Narender Kumar Rathore of Nasarpur area committed suicide to protest against injustice to Hindus.
Two months ago extremist Muslims had encroached and vandalized the graveyard of Pakistani Hindus, against which the Hindus of Nasarpur (Sindh), went out to seek justice. But even after repeated appeals, nothing was done.
CJP Saquib should take "due note" and do the needful
Unable to bear this, the Pakistani Hindu boy committed suicide. He also wrote a letter saying that ‘we want justice’ and the date mentioned on it is 14th July 2018 and the day is Saturday. In the letter, the young boy had hoped that at least after his death his people will be able to get justice.
Image
Many Pakistani Hindus bury their dead ones as cremation is frowned upon. There are many who bury due to caste traditions as well.
Senior journalist Asad Chandio, who has regularly spoken against persecution of minorities in Sindh, had earlier told http://www.currentriggers.com that Pakistani Hindus are seen as enemies in Pakistan.
Due to rising persecution, many Hindus have taken refuge in India. But is that a lasting solution when there are millions who are living there?

X Posted on the Neutering & Defanging Chinese Threat

China's 'Little Mecca': The far-flung city where Muslims have lived for hundreds of years, but now faces a religious crackdown from Beijing

- Ethnic Hui Muslims in Linxia, north-west China have previously enjoyed comparative religious freedom
- Locals have stated concerns of a deliberate move by the atheist ruling Community Party to eradicate Islam
- Children under the age of 16 are set to be banned from religious activities or studies in the region

Concerns have been raised over the Chinese government's apparent clampdown on a Muslim-majority region in north-west Gansu province in a bid to squash potential separatist movements.

For hundreds of years, ethnic Hui Muslims in Linxia, dubbed 'China's Little Mecca', have enjoyed a haven of comparative religious freedom.

However, locals fear that there is a deliberate move by the atheist ruling Communist Party to eradicate Islam in the region as tight regulations of the religion's practice were implemented in recent years.

Many Hui Muslims in Linxia fear similar surveillance and repression faced by ethnic Uighurs following deadly unrests in Xinjiang, another majority Muslim region in the country's far west.

While these two ethnic communities may share the same religion, the Uighurs and the Hui's respective positions in relation to the Chinese government and society remains radically different, according to experts.

Green-domed mosques still dominate the skyline of Linxia, but they have undergone a profound change - no longer do boys flit through their stone courtyards en route to classes and prayers.

In what locals told AFP they fear is a deliberate move to suppress Islam, the Communist Party has banned minors under 16 from religious activity or study in Linxia.

Among Linxia's 2.18 million people, 1.3 million - or 59 per cent - are Muslims, according to Global Times citing official data. Most of the Muslims in Linxia are Hui ethnic minority people.

China governs Xinjiang, another majority Muslim region in its far west, with an iron fist to weed out what it calls 'religious extremism' and 'separatism' in the wake of deadly unrest, throwing ethnic Uighurs into shadowy re-education camps without due process for minor infractions such as owning a Koran or even growing a beard.

Now, Hui Muslims fear similar scrutiny and control.

'The winds have shifted' in the past year, explained a senior imam who requested anonymity, adding: 'Frankly, I'm very afraid they're going to implement the Xinjiang model here.'

Local authorities have severely curtailed the number of students over 16 officially allowed to study in each mosque and limited certification processes for new imams.

They have also instructed mosques to display national flags and stop sounding the call to prayer to reduce 'noise pollution' - with loudspeakers removed entirely from all 355 mosques in a neighbouring county.

'They want to secularise Muslims, to cut off Islam at the roots,' the imam said, shaking with barely restrained emotion. 'These days, children are not allowed to believe in religion: only in Communism and the party.'

'Scared, very scared'

More than 1,000 boys used to attend his mid-sized mosque to study Koranic basics during summer and winter school holidays but now they are banned from even entering the premises.

His classrooms are still full of huge Arabic books from Saudi Arabia, browned with age and bound in heavy leather. But only 20 officially registered pupils over the age of 16 are now allowed to use them.

Parents were told the ban on extracurricular Koranic study was for their children's own good, so they could rest and focus on secular coursework.

But most are utterly panicked.

'We're scared, very scared. If it goes on like this, after a generation or two, our traditions will be gone,' said Ma Lan, a 45-year-old caretaker, tears dripping quietly into her uneaten bowl of beef noodle soup.

Inspectors checked her local mosque every few days during the last school holiday to ensure none of the 70 or so village boys were present.

Their imam initially tried holding lessons in secret before sunrise but soon gave up, fearing repercussions.

Instead of studying five hours a day at the mosque, her 10-year-old son stayed home watching television. He dreams of being an imam, but his schoolteachers have encouraged him to make money and become a Communist cadre, she said.

Fear for the future

The Hui number nearly 10 million, half of the country's Muslim population, according to 2012 government statistics.

In Linxia, they have historically been well integrated with the ethnic Han majority, able to openly express their devotion and centre their lives around their faith.

Women in headscarves dish out boiled lamb in mirror-panelled halal eateries while streams of white-hatted men meander into mosques for afternoon prayers, passing shops hawking rugs, incense and 'eight treasure tea,' a local speciality including dates and dried chrysanthemum buds.

But in January, local officials signed a decree - obtained by AFP - pledging to ensure that no individual or organisation would 'support, permit, organise or guide minors towards entering mosques for Koranic study or religious activities', or push them towards religious beliefs.

Imams there were all asked to comply in writing, and just one refused, earning fury from officials and embarrassment from colleagues, who have since shunned him.

'I cannot act contrary to my beliefs. Islam requires education from cradle to grave. As soon as children are able to speak we should begin to teach them our truths,' he explained to AFP.

'It feels like we are slowly moving back towards the repression of the Cultural Revolution,' a nationwide purge from 1966 until 1976 when local mosques were dismantled or turned into donkey sheds, he said.

Other imams complained authorities were issuing fewer certificates required to practise or teach and now only to graduates of state-sanctioned institutions.

'For now, there are enough of us, but I fear for the future. Even if there are still students, there won't be anyone of quality to teach them,' said one imam.

Local authorities failed to answer repeated calls from AFP seeking comment but Linxia's youth ban comes as China rolls out its newly revised Religious Affairs Regulations.

The rules have intensified punishments for unsanctioned religious activities across all faiths and regions.

Beijing is targeting minors 'as a way to ensure that faith traditions die out while also maintaining the government's control over ideological affairs,' charged William Nee, China researcher at Amnesty International.

Violent and bloodthirsty

Another imam said the tense situation in Xinjiang was at the root of changes in Linxia.

The government believes that 'religious piety fosters fanaticism, which spawns extremism, which leads to terrorist acts - so they want to secularise us,' he explained.

But many Hui are quick to distinguish themselves from Uighurs.

'They believe in Islam too, but they're violent and bloodthirsty. We're nothing like that,' said Muslim hairdresser Ma Jiancai, 40, drawing on common stereotypes.

Sitting under the elegant eaves of a Sufi shrine complex, a young scholar from Xinjiang explained that his family had sent him alone aged five to Linxia to study the Koran with a freedom not possible in his hometown.

'Things are very different here,' he said with knitted brows. 'I hope to stay.'

Who are Chinese Hui Muslims?

Muslims are not a new presence in China. Most of China's Muslim communities, including the Hui, Uighur and Kazakh, have lived in China for more than 1,000 years, according to fact tank Pew Research Centre.

The Hui people number nearly 10 million, which is half of China's Muslim population, according to 2012 government statistics.

They are concentrated within the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, but also exist in every major Chinese city.

In comparison, the Uighurs number around eight million and mostly reside in Xinjiang, a vast province also in north-west China.

While the Uighur and the Hui people follow the same religion by principle, their positions in relation to the Chinese government and society remain radically different, according to experts.

Unlike Uighurs, who speak a Turkic language and are racially distinct from the Han, the Hui people are not agitating for increased autonomy, much less a split from China, according to Time.

Racially and linguistically, the Hui - whose ancestors include Persian, Central Asian and Arab traders who plied the Silk Road and intermarried with local Chinese - are almost indistinguishable from China's Han majority.

Partly because of their cultural affinity to the Han and their geographic dispersal, the Hui are far more integrated into mainstream Chinese life than Uighurs living in China's borderlands.

Following a series of fatal unrests in the region, Uighurs face a large amount of state discrimination to quash potential separatist movements.

They have long been used to heavy-handed curbs on dress, religious practice and travel after a series of deadly riots in 2009 in Urumqi.

Mainstreaming terrorists in pakiland. The expected blow back that no one seems to notice.

Bloodbath in the run-up to polls
Three separate attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and around 150 people killed — including ANP leader Haroon Bilour and Balochistan Awami Party candidate Siraj Raisani — and over 250 injured.
whether attacks such as these are carried out by the TTP, the militant Islamic State group, Jamaatul Ahrar, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi or any of the other outfits that have left a trail of destruction in their wake, they all subscribe to an equally violent ideology (Scientology?) and have a common objective: to destabilise this country and the region as a whole.
the state is doing the opposite by ‘mainstreaming’ individuals and groups with a history of violence and anti-state actions. There is a clear difference between religio-political parties that engage with the processes of parliamentary democracy  , and those that hold it in contempt and will ultimately undermine it. (That's right. Please ignore the elephant in the room)
Certainly, some extremist organisations have been banned, but radicalised elements espousing similar ideologies have been allowed ingress into the body politic through the back door.
Even when some ‘mainstreamed’ organisations express grief at the loss of life, their words ring hollow because not only are they affiliated with, or an extension of, banned organisations, but they themselves have not renounced violence (blasphemy!!).
‘regular’ political...have become well and truly complicit in co-opting extremist elements, with a proven capacity for violence, within their ranks.
For the sake of a few seats, they have appeased and cajoled, and thereby enabled, the forces that will sow further discord along sectarian lines and incite faith-based violence.
Why blame the political parties today? It is in their DNA. Bakistan's founding father, al d'jinnah, could today be characterized as an instigator and promoter of religious violence. Read "direct action day diktat".

Gadani A "Graveyard" For Broken Ships, Is Also Becoming A Graveyard For Paki Labour

At least four trapped as cargo ship catches fire at Gadani shipbreaking yard
July 16, 2018
QUETTA: At least four labourers remain trapped inside a cargo ship that caught fire at the Gadani shipbreaking yard on Monday.
Gadani in Baluchistan Province , is about 50 miles away from Karachi Harbour .
Rescue team present at the site of the incident stated that the majority of workers were evacuated from the ship which is anchored at plot 116. Bashir Mehmood Baloch, a supervisor at the shipyard, said the administration is ensuring the rescue of all trapped workers.
This is not the first time, it has happened and definitely not the last time either !
The Gadani shipbreaking yard was declared one of the worst workplace environments in the world by labour rights watchdogs including National Trade Union Federation (NTUF), Ship Breaking Workers Union (SBWU) and Industrial Global Union.
The welfare of Paki skilled as well as unskilled workers is not the first priority of rapacious employers . There is nothing like safety policies, practices and procedures and minimal safety equipment is provided !
“Fifty years on, they [workers] do not even have safe drinking water facility at the yards,” SBWU president Bashir Ahmed Mehmoodani had lamented. “When union raises voice against these things, the employers get them banned by bribing the authorities.”
Would not be surprised if some political big wigs were involved !
NTUF deputy-general secretary Nasir Mansoor had said that Gadani case was arguably the second largest shipbreaking yard in the world after Alang in India and was close to the Chittagong’s. “But the work manual is the worst here in Pakistan. Even jungles would have some laws but there are none here.” The ILO should take due note and force the Pakistan Govt to do something !!!

In The Paki Election, The Feudal Landlords Are The Biggest Supporters Of The Military Establishment - Akbar Natiq, Author and Novelist

Where Democracy Is a Terrifying Business
By Ali Akbar Natiq
Mr. Natiq is a poet and novelist from Okara, Pakistan.
New York Times
July 16, 2018
Every two weeks I travel from Lahore, where I teach Urdu literature at a university, to my village in Okara district of Punjab Province. The conversations, the political debates, the infrastructure of the cities disappear in the three-hour bus journey.
I grew up here and my parents continue to live here. Most Pakistanis in my village and in thousands of such villages live in grueling poverty, living off subsistence agriculture and working as laborers.
It is the other Pakistan, where no nonprofit groups open their offices because we have no air-conditioned meeting halls, where no functioning hospitals are built because the doctors who come from middle- and upper-middle-class families won’t come to work here, where you don’t find clean drinking water because no health and sanitation worker ever shows up and where few schools are built — and even then, with little concern toward the quality of education — because most of us remain condemned to working as farm hands and laborers.
Due to paucity of funds and lack of resources, the Paki state has outsourced social sectors like child welfare, girls education, animal husbandry training, women empowerment, computer training, care of disabled men and women. And the latest "gimmick" being, oversees on line ads on social and other media for "sponsoring the education and welfare of minor Pakistani girls and boys" who may or may not be orphans, by pledging a fixed dollar amount each month . The gullible (mostly) Christian Donors in Western Countries may fall for this "trap", not knowing whether the full or even partial monthly chanda (amount) may reach the destitute child or not
In our villages and small towns, we don’t have political leaders; we have brokers and thugs who sell our votes to federal politicians and their backers in the military establishment. Democracy serves a singular purpose in the village: to maintain the power of our feudal lords and to further enrich them and their families.
Not incorrect IMO !
The rural people of Pakistan don’t have the luxury of weighing ideologies and campaign promises of political parties. Who they vote for is determined by a smile, by a disapproving look from the feudal lord. Tens of thousands of votes are cast for the political party the overlord favors — a choice he always makes after weighing the balance of power.
Feudal landlords are happy with the status quo . Mostly their extended family members are candidates for political parties as they can also deliver the biradari vote for the Party and they have no qualms in switching political sides . Imran Khan of PTI is of course "courting" these kinds. They are labelled as "electables"
The practice of democracy in the countryside is almost invisible to the television anchors and columnists and other influential urban compatriots who pay American prices for a cup of coffee in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.
The growing gap between the rich and the poor of Pakiland . The growing gap between the rural and the urban lifestyle in Pakiland !
We will vote in our national elections in two weeks. The campaign season reminds me of the last election in 2013. There is a high school in my village where about a 1,000 boys and girls from neighboring villages study. We lived nearby and I graduated from there. The road to the school is a long stretch of dust and potholes. Every time it rains you feel like getting a boat. The children wade through a river of mud to school. The road could have been fixed, but the local political broker did not allow it because my extended family disobeyed his decree and voted for someone else.
I got my undergraduate and master’s degrees through long-distance learning and worked as a mason for 15 years, along with numerous odd jobs. Along with mixing cement, mortar and bricks, I read widely and wrote poems and short stories. Eventually I was hired at a literary institute in Islamabad and published my first collection of poetry in 2010.
At least there was upward mobility for this person :D
My new life as a published writer in Islamabad brought a new set of acquaintances. A young government official I came to know was posted as the district magistrate, the head of my district’s government. I spoke to him about the broken road by the village school and sought his help to get it fixed. He visited the village and ordered a new metaled road be built. Months passed. Nothing happened.
I went to meet my officer friend again. He was helpless. The political broker, the ward boss, or as we say in Punjabi and Urdu, the Chaudhary Sahib, in our village had spoken with the chief minister of Punjab, who had ordered the officer to not build the road before the local political boss approved it. The children still wade through a river of mud to the school.
A few days back, my father called from the village. Chaudhary Sahib had stopped by our house and asked my father about pledging his and the family’s vote. “What shall we do?” my father asked. I understand that if my family doesn’t vote the way the Big Man wants, he will make their life difficult. No political idea, no slogan offered me a way to help my father out. All I could say was, “Abbajaan, do whatever you like.”
Democracy has become a terrifying business in the villages of Pakistan. Elections might change the federal and state governments, but the feudal and punitive power structures in the countryside don’t change. The feudal lords offer allegiance to the new ruler and continue to oppress the poor villagers.

Isn't it when the judge has a conflict of interest with the defendant that he recuses himself? So if this judge is recusing himself, is he involved in the corruption case or is personal friends with Nawaz and Maryam?
“Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer also not satisfied with me so cannot resume hearing in such circumstances,” the letter read.
Falijee - I would be inclined to agree with you that this judge wants to be rescued from the Gullu Butts of PML-N!

Pakistan is Getting 8 Submarines from China Under Project Hangor
China is giving  Pakistan 8 new military submarines, in order to strengthen the country’s marine warfare capability. Second nuclear strike capability
The submarines are being built by China-based shipbuilders under Project Hangor, and these military assets will be handed over to Pakistan, sources said.As of yet, Pakistan’s navy forces possess 10 submarines. Both countries have supported each other financially and militarily over the years and also have close strategic relations.
Only a week ago, Pakistan launched 2 satellites with Chinese help. The satellites were on-board the Chinese Long March (LM-2C) Vehicle, while the PRSS1 – Pakistan’s first optical remote sensing unit – was developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST). It was launched from a China-based space center, called Jiquan Satellite Launch Center.
Pakistan is becoming "China's strategic ally" and at the same time, is also " A Major Non -Nato Al-lie Of USA
Moreover, as part of the CPEC program, the Pak-China Fiber Optic Cable was also recently inaugurated. The cable connects Pakistan directly to China via an 822-kilometer cable, that goes from Rawalpindi to Khunjerab. A number of Chinese automakers have also entered Pakistan. Some of the companies have already received the state’s approval, and have been awarded a Greenfield status to set up their respective factories for the local market. Some of the Chinese companies that are going to unveil their product for Pakistan include DFSK, Luoyang Dahe, Lifan, Foton JW, JAC, and Changan.
Pakistan should again be reminded that "there is no free lunch"

July 16, 2018
Bloomberg
Pakistan’s central bank devalued the rupee for the fourth time since December, seeking to slow the depletion of its foreign-exchange reserves before a national election in nine days.
The currency, whose rate is set by the central bank, dropped as much as 5.3 percent to 128 per dollar at the close, according to a statement released by State Bank of Pakistan. The rupee is the worst performer in Asia this year, according to a basket of 13 currencies compiled by Bloomberg. The movement in the exchange rates reflects the demand-supply gap of the foreign exchange in the interbank market, the central bank said in a statement.
While the global backdrop is worsening for many emerging economies, Pakistan’s own weaknesses, including a widening current-account deficit and the lowest foreign reserves in three and a half years, have brought additional pressure on the $305 billion economy, raising the likelihood that the country will seek support from the International Monetary Fund.( And the IMF may force Pakistan to disclose all the "secret clauses" of the CPEC Deal with China , which even the Paki Parliament was not given !) The sell-off in emerging market currencies and stocks is likely to continue in the second half of 2018 as the U.S. raises interest rates and the world braces for a trade war, according to a Bloomberg survey published last week.
The Pakistani rupee has dropped almost 14 percent this year, followed by the Indian rupee’s 6.9 percent loss. That still pales next to the Argentine peso’s 32 percent depreciation, a rout that led the IMF to approved a $50 billion loan for the country last month, the biggest in the fund’s history, and the Turkish lira’s 22 percent retreat.
Pakistan’s real reserves have dropped below the level reached when the country approached IMF the last two times for a bailout, according to Bilal Khan, a senior economist at Standard Chartered Bank Plc. With elections scheduled for July 25, the next government will need to approach the IMF as a “matter of urgency,” said Khan.
“It’s a smart move so they can get some extra space’’ before entering negotiations with the IMF, said Mattias Martinsson, a money manager overseeing $420 million of assets at Stockholm-based Tundra Fonder. Pakistan has been getting “a billion or two billion dollars from China from time to time, but what they need is some kind of bazooka to show that they have spare capacity for two years.’’

ANP opposes deployment of army inside polling stations
Awami National Party has expressed reservations over the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan to deploy security personnel inside the polling stations, fearing it will strengthen doubts about poll rigging for bringing a certain party into the power.
ANP former senator Ilyas Ahmed Bilour said that other political parties had objected to deployment of army personnel inside the polling stations and hurdles in their election campaign.
He said that his party believed in democracy and would bring reforms in government departments.
The ANP leader backtracked from his statement in which he had stated that “our own people, who have benefited” from his nephew’s murder, not Taliban, were involved in the suicide attack occurred in Peshawar last week.
Bilour's days are now numbered.

Bilawal concerned over allowing banned parties to contest polls
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday expressed concern over allowing candidates of banned organisations to contest the coming elections and said certain forces were again trying to form an Islami Jamhoori Ittehad-like alliance in the country.
“Unfortunately, by allowing candidates of banned organisations to take part in the election, extremists have been given space
Referring to the possibility of delay in the polls, he said if elections could be held in Afghanistan and Iraq where the situation was worse then why they cannot be held in Pakistan.

This just in...

Nawaz sternly handled at Islamabad Airport
After his arrival at the Islamabad International Airport, three-time former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was strictly treated in front of his daughter.
The treatment meted out to Nawaz and Maryam was so unexpected that even handlers were visibly shaken
The father and daughter were shocked to see multiple camera lights flashing at them.
However, the mistreatment did not end here, :(( as Nawaz was asked to sit in the middle of the seat sandwiched between two healthy men who told him that it was necessary for the “security reasons”.
Maryam was also perturbed at their separation
Nawaz ... had not been given a mattress and that his washroom was so dirty that he could not sleep the whole night.
:(( Poor things.

APML chief withdraws in favour of Imran Khan And Asad Umar
July 17, 2018
ISLAMABAD: Dr Muhammad Amjad, chairman of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) — the party founded by former military dictator-turned politician retired Gen Pervez Musharraf — decided on Monday to withdraw his papers from two National Assembly constituencies in the federal capital in favour of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidates.
Imran, the PM in waiting. You do not want to be on the "wrong side" of him .
Dr Amjad, who had last month replaced Mr Musharraf as APML head after the latter had to resign due to some legal issues, withdrew his papers from NA-53 in favour of PTI chairman Imran and from NA-54 in favour of Asad Umar. “I am withdrawing from Islamabad’s both seats only; APML candidates in other parts of the country are contesting the elections. I myself am also contesting from Chitral,” the APML chairman told Dawn.
Maybe, he will "join" with PTI after election, who knows .
He said the APML would support the PTI in Islamabad. “In Islamabad, chances of my victory are less as heavyweights like Imran Khan and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi are also in the race, so I decided to withdraw from Islamabad to fully focus on NA-1 Chitral.” :D
Talking to Dawn, a PTI leader said Dr Amjad had taken the decision after holding a meeting with Imran Khan in his Banigala residence.“It’s a positive development as Dr Amjad, in his personal capacity, has a good number of votes in Islamabad, as during the Musharraf regime, he played a major role in getting approval of the PM package,” the PTI leader said.
Contrary to earlier expectations, Reham's Book about Imran does not seem to make any difference to Paki Politics !
The PTI on Monday decided to hold the last public meeting of its election campaign in Lahore on July 23 before holding a similar meeting in Islamabad on July 21 at Parade Ground.
Earlier, the PTI had decided to hold the public meeting in Islamabad on July 23. “Actually, we want to end election campaign in Lahore on a high note as Lahore plays an important role in Punjab’s politics,” the PTI leader said, adding that Imran Khan would address both the public meetings.

Isloo High Court Judge, "Justice" Siddiqui Got On "Wrong Side Of Paki Law" :D

SJC bars media from commenting on proceedings
July 17, 2018
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) – which hears complaints against superior courts judges – has restrained the media from commenting on the upcoming proceedings of a case against the Islamabad High Court judge (IHC) judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.
The five-member SJC led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has issued a written order, which says proceedings of the council will be reported in the matter related to IHC judge but no public comments shall be made.
“We direct that no media discussion, articles or editorials shall be written or published in this matter and no public comments shall be made…only proceedings of the council shall be reported,” said the two-page order, available with The Express Tribune. The dirty linen of the Paki Supreme Court is NOT to be washed in front of the Paki Public !
It is for the first time that inquiry against any superior judiciary’s judge will be conducted in open court. The SJC’s rule says inquiry against a judge will be held in-camera. In the complaint pending against the IHC judge since 2015, eight allegations have been levelled against him.
In February, the SJC served another show-cause notice on Justice Siddiqui for questioning the role of ‘a constitutional institution’ in the matter relating to the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s Faizabad sit-in last year. Later, the judge submitted a reply in this regard but the council rejected it.
It seems that Siddiqui must have got on the wrong side of Saquib, for whatever reasons, and now he is being punished. So much so for Paki "justice"
The order said the obvious purpose of the in-camera proceeding is the protection of the rights and reputation of the person whose conduct and capacity are being inquired into and the protection of the institution of the judiciary, including members of the SJC. :((

Another PIA Scandal !

Passengers left stranded after DG CAA takes friends for ‘special tour’ on PIA plane
KARACHI – Amid soaring losses and depleting reputation of Pakistan International Airlines, a director general of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) gave another blow to the national carrier by leaving passengers stranded at Skardu airport.
DG CAA Ghulam Hussain recently took a group of friends for a special trip to Nanga Parbat on a PIA plane with passengers waiting for the aircraft’s arrival at the airport for their scheduled flight, Geo News reported, citing sources. The tour cost the PIA millions of rupees.
PIA has "always been known" to accommodate "special people". Ganja Sharif , when he was PM was known to requisite PIA planes as his personal taxi !
Giglit-Baltistan senior minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member Muhammad Akbar Taban was among the group of friends who were onboard the plane, which was reportedly provided by a senior director of the PIA.
After completing the tour of the mountains, the plane landed at the airport with a delay of hours. Following the incident, the passengers at the airport slammed the aviation official for displaying unprofessionalism.
No clarification has been issued by the PIA and CAA regarding the incident so far.
Some sort of a half baked explanation will follow !

Pakistan Might Have To "Swallow" Its Honour And Dignity (AKA Echendee !) And Apply For IMF Bail-Out . But Not Yet

Pakistan’s Govt Hasn’t Asked for Any IMF Loans Yet
The Pakistan government has neither requested nor held any discussions to go on an International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.
Gerry Rice of the Communication Department, IMF, during a press conference was asked,
“We have seen the Pakistani currency devalue quite significantly recently, and there has been speculation that their officials may be seeking another condition to IMF loan. Is the IMF in discussions with Pakistani officials regarding a potential loan agreement?”
Rice replied, No. There has been no request and no discussion of a program with the IMF.
Economic analysts maintain that Pakistan’s next government, to be chosen in a July 25 election, faces growing fears of a balance of payments crisis with speculation it will have to seek its second IMF bailout in five years.
The "PM In Waiting ", Imran Khan has vowed to make Pakistan "an Islamic Welfare State" (along the lines of Sweden, Denmark and Norway, who are non -islamic !) . Imran has also (previously ) promised not to "beg" IMF for loans . Let us see , whether he will swallow his Echendee

"Wanted On US Terror List", Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil, Joins Imran Khan's PTI Party

PTI joins hands with cleric on US terror list
ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad-based religious leader, who is placed by the United States on a terror watch list, has announced to support the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the upcoming general elections scheduled for July 25.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil was placed by the US government on Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT) list on September 30, 2014, for his alleged role in Harkatul Mujahideen (HuM) militant organisation, which he reportedly founded in the past.He later founded and is still heading Ansarul Ummah, which he says is a political party. Both HuM and Ansarul Ummah are on the SDGT list.
Apart from this well known (terrorist ) Mullah ( Khalil), Sami-ul-Haq of Akhora Khattack seminary is also a "close ally" of Imran
Khalil’s Ansarul Ummah also took part in the last local government elections.
“Maulana Fazlur Rehman Kahlil has joined the PTI along with hundreds of his followers and Ulema,” Umar wrote in a Facebook post with an album showing Umar being welcomed by Khalil and others and the two addressing the ceremony.
Asad Umar ( this close friend of the Kaptaan is touted to be Pakistan's Next Finance Minister ! ) also edited his Facebook post on Monday evening saying Khalil and others had announced to support the PTI in NA-54.

The Kaptaan Deliveries Predictable Homilies In His Interview With A Saudi Journalist

Imran Khan expresses views about Pakistan Army, relations with Saudi Arabia and US in an interview to Arab media
17 Jul, 2018
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday expressed confidence over his party’s success in upcoming general elections 2018.
During an interview with ‘Arab News’, Imran maintained that PTI has run an ideal election campaign and next tenure belongs to his party.
He asserted that Pakistan army is the sole institution working with great transparency while other government departments are devastated by corruption.
And the Paki Army is the "sole institution" that is clearing the field for his election victory
Khan termed ex-president Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ‘corruption symbols’.
And he is of course, corruption free .!
“All those who either belong to PTI, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) or Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should be held accountable for their unlawful activities,” he said.
While talking about Nawaz Sharif’s imprisonment in Avenfield Reference case, Imran said that first time any privileged became accountable for his corruption which is a great success for Pakistan.
Chairman PTI said, “Pakistan has a special bond with Saudi Arabia. After becoming prime minister, I will strengthen these ties. We want a relationship of mutual interest with US.”
Just a few years ago, Imran was "deadly against" Saudi Arabia request to send Paki troops to Saudia !

LHC directs interior ministry to decide fate of Indian woman seeking Pakistan's citizenship
LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) directed the interior ministry on Saturday to decide within 30 days the fate of Kiran Bala, alias Amna Bibi, who moved the high court for citizenship and visa extension.
Kiran had also sent an application to the foreign ministry. The high court, while extending Kiran’s visa by 30-days, directed the interior ministry to decide whether she is eligible for the six-month extension as per her application.
Kiran accepted Islam and married a Muslim man in the country. According to the law, Kiran can now stay in Pakistan for a month, and if granted the six-month extension, she could be eligible for attaining citizenship. The Indo-Pak treaty indicates that citizens of either country can attain the others nationality after seven years.
Earlier, an Indian woman, Uzma, on her visit to Pakistan married a Pakistani young man but after a week took shelter in Indian embassy accusing the man of forcibly marrying her. She also requested to return back to her country which was granted by the court and she was sent back.
Institutions are also considering such events while ascertaining whether Kiran intends to stay in the country for good. Rumours circulating claim she has three kids in India, however, Kiran has denied such allegations.

He is a very important terror guy, as important, if not more than, as Hafiz Saeed.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil (MFRK) was a founding Member of IIF (Islamic International Front for Jihad against the Crusaders and the Jewish people).

MFRK started the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen(HuM), breaking away from Harkat-ul-Jihadi-Islami (HuJI). HuM is a pan-Islamic jihadi organization, founded by the Pakistani government in c. 1985 after differences cropped up between Fazl-ur-Rehman Khalil and Qari Saifullah Akhtar over succession to Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuJI) following the death of its founder Maulana Irshad Ahmed. Later, HUM itself split into another faction, JeM, headed by Maulana Masood Azhar when he was released from Indian jail to terminate the 1999 Kandahar hijacking of IC-814 flight from Kathmandu.

HuM is deeply patronized by Jamia Binori, Jamia Ehteshamia and the Jamia Farooqia all located in Karachi. Cadres are largely recruits from Karachi.

Also operated under the name ‘Al Faran’. HuM is politically alignd with Fazl-ur-Rehman’s JUI-F.

In collaboration with Maulana Azizur Rehman Hazari, who runs a suicide-bomber producing factory in MFRK's madrassah, Jamia Khalid bin Al-Waleed, at Shams Colony, near Rawalpindi, where Khalil gives arms training to students, he provided logistical support for the TTP attack on army headquarters in Rawalpindi in 2009.

HuM started off as a Kashmiri jihadi terrorist organization. MFRK is known to be a close friend of Jalaluddin Haqqani and Osama bin Laden; he has fought the US forces in Afghanistan after 2001. His 18-year-old son died in Nuristan in 2010 in one such encounter.

HuJI and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HUM) were merged in Kashmir in 1993 by Gen. Naseerullah Babar, interior minister in Ms. Benazir Bhutto’s cabinet and a former Chief of Frontier Corps and also the creator Taliban, for better coordination and to end factional fights between them. The new unit was called as Harkat-ul-Ansar (HuA). When they were merged, Maulana Fazlur Rahman Khalil became the Amir and Qari Akhtar, Deputy Amir. (It was Qari Akhtar who drove Mullah Omar out of Afghanistan in his great escape). One important member of this setup was Maulana Masood Azhar Alvi who was later caught in Kashmir and incarcerated there (only to be released in the IC-814 hijacking resolution in c. 1999). Another important member of HUA was Amjad Hussain Farooqi (aka ‘Bade Bhai’ he carried a USD 500,000 reward on his head and was killed in an encounter in Nawabshah, Sindh on Sep. 26, 2004 , when he was fleeing after being tipped off by federal Information Minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.). One of its commanders formed an ancillary unit called Al Faran which abducted five Western tourists in Kashmir in July 1995 and killed four of them while one escaped. In c. 1994, HuA was involved in the dramatic capture of Srinagar’s Chrar-e-Sharif by the terrorists. HuA was the first to be declared by the USA as a foreign terrorist organization in Oct. 1997. It then dissolved itself and split into its original components, HuJI and HUM.

After Trump took a tough stance against Pakistan for patronizing terrorism in August 2017, many terrorist groups decided to form a political wing as a mask. HUM also decided to do the same. Fazl-u Rehman Khalil confirmed this on August 25, 2017 “Yes, I have been in touch with my colleagues and followers and we have even finalized a name for the party - Islah-e-Watan Party (IWP). For this purpose, the central Shura (executive committee) would soon meet to finalise details... We would like to condemn the derogatory statement made recently by US President (Donald) Trump. The US needs to know that Pakistan is neither Syria nor Iraq. If any step is taken against Pakistan, we would turn our lands into a graveyard for aggressive forces”.

May be, the ISI thought it prudent to get him elected under an established political party just as it let JuD participate in elections under the Allah-o-Akbar Tehreek party.

Rupee in free-fall?
The State Bank of Pakistan has devalued the rupee for the fourth time in just eight months. In real terms, this means a drop by as much as 5.3 percent; taking it to PK 128 against the dollar (USD).
...representing a total drop of around 20 percent since December
...regardless of whosoever triumphs at the ballot box, the country will be almost immediately set off, begging bowl in hand, to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
IMF handouts are not always the best remedy for local economies. Yet, Pakistan may end up with a 13th bailout.
Also not to be overlooked is how a weakened currency offers less interest on loans; thereby boosting inflation.
Fast-forward to this month and country is left with $9.6 billion in foreign reserves; sufficient to cover imports for a mere two months.
Paki lurks. Do not fear. Tellibunny khan will make your nation a malsic-welfare state. Currency or no currency, there will be no need to worry about inflation as everything will be free (and flowing).
