China trying to colonise Pakistan via CPEC, says European think tank
AMSTERDAM – Pakistan’s growing dependence on China for development projects such as a $62-billion economic corridor under the Belt and Road Initiative could turn Islamabad into a “colony” that will require Beijing for its day-to-day survival, a European think tank has warned in a new report.
Pakistan is always looking for a "free lunch" ever since inception . That is why they had enlisted for CENTO, SEATO, and more recently the so-called War On Terrorism. And in the process they and their fauj got a lot of "free goodies" from Massa , but still they lost half of their country and Kashmir is still Indian owned The Chinis operate on a "plane" different than the Amreekis . As experience with other countries prove, they do not believe in the concept of "free lunch" . The so -called game-changer ( CPEC !) will come with a heavy price for the future generation of Pakis !
In a report titled “CPEC – an unfair deal for common Pakistanis?” issued on Thursday, Amsterdam-based European Foundation for South Asian Studies (EFSAS) said the connectivity project would bring funds to Pakistan but it was unclear whether it would positively impact the local people.
The local industry is already "screaming" that the Chinis are going to flood the local market with cheaper goods made in China . And of course, the contamination of Malsi plus the potential of cultural clash is bound to occur with the presence of so many Chinese in Pakiland . And how long before the Mullahs start screaming about the "polluting influence" of the Chinese
“The Chinese master plan conceives a picture where the majority of Pakistani socio-economic sectors are deeply penetrated by Chinese companies and Chinese culture; thus, Islamabad puts itself at risk of facing its finances and societal structure experiencing a colossal wreck,” the report said.
IMO, the recent foreign exchange crisis has largely been because of the large loan payments to Chinese companies for purchase of CPEC products and materials and "expert" Chini advice . Due diligence of the potential outflows was obviously not done !!!
China has taken advantage of Pakistan’s isolation on the global stage because of allegations of sponsoring terrorism and “this patronising attitude will only turn Pakistan into a colony which will always require China for its day-to-day survival”, it cautioned.
But it seems that the Pakis do not mind being "embraced" by the Chinese . ( as long as they can get "protection" from India )
China describes Pakistan as an “all-weather friend”, but the “truth is that their ‘friendship’ has always had an embedded enduring imbalance; Pakistan is in China’s debt and the debt will only deepen”, the report said.
Again, no free lunch in "international relations" !
The 15-year megaproject shows how Pakistan is voluntarily becoming “progressively subjugated by China” and Islamabad has “subscribed to an unfair deal for which common Pakistanis will eventually suffer”, it said.
To date, the Paki National Assembly has not been privy to the detailed CPEC Agreements !!
The report noted China’s history of trade relations with African nations, which showed it is very careful about investments and “quite rigid in receiving its money back”.
It is possible that Land of Pakistan will fall in the ownership of the Chinese. They will extract a heavy price in case of loan default !
A combination of high upfront tariffs, interest rates and surcharges will complicate Pakistan’s efforts to repay loans, and this could force the country to increase its domestic and export prices, making it difficult to compete with neighbours and other countries which have lower prices, the report argued.
ECP green signals Hafiz Saeed’s son to contest upcoming elections

LAHORE – The Election Commission of Pakistan has accepted the nomination papers of Jamat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed’s son to contest general elections 2018, scheduled on July 25.
Saeed’s son Hafiz Talha Saeed will contest from NA-91 Sargodha and his son-in-law Hafiz Khalid Waleed will contest for the NA-133 seat, a Lahore constituency featuring political bigwigs including PTI’s Ijaz Chaudhry and Zaeem Qadri.

Talha will be contesting from the platform of Allah-o-Akbar Tehreek (AAT) as the Election Commission of Pakistan had denied the registration of Milli Muslim League – a party launched by Hafiz Saeed-led Jamaat ud Dawa.
So, obviously "Deep State" is on board . Some sort of a subtle message ( "finger" to Massa ) is being conveyed to US . FATF blacklist with Pakistan in it is not going to make any difference to us !

The MML spokesperson Tabish Qayyum said that the aspirants were Tehreek-e-Allah o Akbar candidates to be precise. ‘These candidates are common people from various walks of life. The only JuD member among them is Hafiz Talha Saeed,’ he added.
MML will be supporting the candidates as their registration was denied by a four-member bench of the ECP on the basis of an interior ministry report which stated that the aspiring political entity followed the ideology of proscribed JuD and its leader.

WASHINGTON: The newly-appointed Pakistani Ambassador to the United States (US) Ali Jehangir Siddiqui on Friday presented his credentials to President Donald Trump in the Oval Office of the White House.
Cornell-educated, successful banker Siddiqui succeeds Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, who was a career diplomat, as Pakistan’s 28th Ambassador to the United States. Clearly a sifarish appointment !
Siddique presented his credentials to Trump during a ceremony in the Oval Office which included envoys from seven other countries.
Thanks Allah, it was a group ceremony, otherwise he would have heard a thing or two from the outspoken POTUS , who has some "special feelings" for (Non -NATO Major Allie !) Pakistan

Tahirul Qadri announces boycott of general elections 2018
LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chairperson Tahir-ul-Qadri on Saturday announced that his party will not be contesting the upcoming general elections of 2018.The announcement came with directives for party workers to withdraw from candidacy in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a press conference, Tahir-ul-Qadri stated that it is crucial to spread awareness about Article 62, 63 in order to ensure free and fair elections.
Qadri is the proud holder of a Canadian Passport as well ! So this does not come as a total surprise ! Why should he renounce his Kannadian Citizenship ! What better way than to withdraw from the elections
He stated that he does not want his party to partake in the elections as those who abuse their powers in name of democracy.
Tahir-ul-Qadri clarified that the party will not provide tickets to its members; but they can opt for independent candidacy.
But, he still "likes" to fly to Pakiland-regularly in the winter months - to escape the "severe Canadian winter"

Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, or SECP's "Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Regulations, 2018" is a framework designed to comply with FATF's recommendations that are critical for Pakistan to remain a member of the Asia Pacific Group, an FATF body that overlooks Asian countries.SECP's order will void earlier notifications that demanded a separate requirement for anti-money laundering (AML) and countering financial of terrorism (CFT) for financial institutions.
Pakistan is a "past master" in circumventing international rules and regulations . Even after 71 years, it regularly, without fail, "barks" for Kashmir plebiscite , without meeting one of the required conditions- withdrawal of its armed forces from the disputed POK region . So, this legislation may look good on paper onlee !
The directive issued by the national security entity said the newly adopted law will help to identify criminals and militant elements that hide behind the "complex ownership structure of companies or other similar forms."

Terror financing remains a big challenge in Pakistan, where militant groups allegedly raise money under the guise of religion and welfare for the poor.Foreign funding, drug trafficking, extortion from business and kidnapping for ransoms are other means of income for terrorists in Pakistan. They also largely use Hawala system, an alternative or parallel banking system to launder money.The international community has repeatedly expressed concerns about Pakistan's noncompliance to the international guidelines to choke militants' financial sources in the country. Pakistan denies the allegations and maintains it has destroyed terror elements indiscriminately and has curbed the financial assets of militant elements.. Pakistan has also denied that the Mumbai attack was carried out from its soil. Pakistan has also denied that the Haqqani Network exists in Pakistan . Last year, Washington suspended $2 billion worth of aid to Pakistan, accusing the country of harboring terrorists that launch attacks on NATO and Afghan forces in neighboring Afghanistan.
Earlier this year, United States along with France, Britain and Germany reached out to FATF and introduced a motion alleging Pakistan had failed to comply with the global watchdog's guidelines on terror financing and anti-money laundering regulations.In February, during a meeting of FATF member countries in Paris, it was decided to place Pakistan on FATF's grey list to pressure Pakistan to take more concrete steps against terror financing.Lisa Curtis, a United States National Security Council official, visited Islamabad after the FATF decision and said: "There has been a longstanding concern about the ongoing deficiencies in Pakistan's implementation of its anti-money laundering/counterterrorism finance regime."Pakistan also previously remained on FATF's terror watch list from 2012 to 2015.

Pakistan has been severely criticized for its inability to crack crackdown on Saeed and his JuD and FIF organizations. Despite being placed on U.S. and UN terror lists, the organizations had until recently operated freely. LAHORE – A woman belonging to Punjab’s capital city lost his cool on Friday and beat up a traffic official publicaly after he allegedly requested her mobile number.
According to the woman, the warden in question asked for her mobile number, ( So, he can "sexually harass her " on social media ) riling her who not only refused the request but also misbehaved and turned violent.
The fellow wardens tried to pacify the furious mid-aged woman, a video of which was also uploaded on the social media. The traffic official, should complain about this to the Jamaat-E- Islami !
Chief Traffic Officer has taken notice of this incident and an inquiry has been launched to verify the claims of the woman.

QUETTA - Three policemen were injured when an explosive device went off in Balochistan 's Naseerabad district late Saturday afternoon in what police believe to to be a targeted attack on a police vehicle.The injured were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Dera Murad Jamali, the administrative headquarters of Naseerabad district. Deputy Superintendent of Police Inayat Bugti was also among the injured.
The vehicle was hit in the Manjo Shori area of Naseerabad district while it was on routine patrol, local police said. The sound of the explosion resonated far, triggering panic in the area.
Pakistan Foreign Office contacts US State Department over mistreatment of Dr Afiya Siddiqui

TEXAS/ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Foreign Office has contacted the United States Department of State over alleged mistreatment of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani scientist ( and Al - Qaeda agent, married to a nephew Of KSM !) imprisoned in a Texas prison.
Rejecting the allegations, the spokesperson said treatment meted out to convicted criminals in the US is in line with the international laws.
The conduct of US officials and prison-keepers with the prisoners is completely in accordance with the Constitution as well as the laws of the United States, the spokesperson said.
On June 7, 2018, the Supreme Court of Pakistan summoned a report from the Pakistan Embassy in Washington on Dr Aafia, after a three-member bench - led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar - heard a petition filed by the imprisoned scientist's sister, Dr Fouzia.
Pakistanis rank 4th in world for holding firearms: report

UNITED NATIONS: Pakistanis are ranked as fourth among the list of 25 countries in which civilians hold firearms, said a report.
According to details, out of the 857 million guns owned by civilians, Pakistan is ranked at number four with 43.9 million of its civilians holding firearms. The US is at the top with 393 million followed by India at 71 million and China at 49.7 million.

Gun ownership rates vary across the world, with 121 firearms for every 100 residents in the United States compared to 53 in Yemen, 39 in Montenegro, and 35 in Canada.
No statistics given, but would NOT be surprised, if by THIS criteria ( # of firearms for every 100 residents ) Pakistan is # 1 .

Independent candidate in Muzaffargarh declares over Rs400 billion in assets

An independent candidate contesting from NA-182 and PP-270 in Muzaffargarh has declared around Rs403 billion in assets, it emerged on Saturday.
The candidate, Mohammad Hussain Shaikh, claims that he owns land comprising almost 40 per cent of Muzaffargarh city as well as the Lang Malana, Taliri, Chak Taliri and Latkaran areas. He claims that the land had previously been disputed, but a Supreme Court bench comprising the chief justice, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Umar Atta Bandial recently decided in his favour in a case that had went on for around 88 years.

While talking to DawnNewsTV, Shaikh said that the land owned by him was worth approximately Rs403.11 billion. His nomination papers, a copy of which is available with DawnNewsTV, also state the worth of the previously disputed land at between Rs300 and Rs400 billion, in addition to other pieces of land valued in tens of millions of rupees.

Shaikh is now the richest candidate according to details of assets declared in the nomination papers that have come forward so far.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Ali Zardari have all declared assets worth hundreds of millions of rupees. PML-N's Amir Muqam and PPP's Arbab Alamgir have also declared assets worth billions.

Pakistan rejects Indian claim of preventing envoy from Sikh site visit

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has dismissed a claim by India that its High Commissioner in Islamabad was denied access to a Sikh religious site.
“Sikh pilgrims were protesting against maltreatment in India and release of controversial movies,” according to Foreign Office spokesman Dr Mohammad Faisal. “Indian HC was informed about the heightened pilgrim sentiments and he agreed to cancel his visit due to this concern,” Faisal said.
He said that Sikhs yatrees were always welcome to visit Pakistan for their religious and cultural ceremonies.“More than 300 Indian Sikhs are visiting Pakistan for the death anniversary of Raja Ranjit Singh - a special train was arranged by Pakistan railways from Attari to Wagah for the Sikh yatris who are always welcome to Pakistan for their religious and cultural ceremonies,” he tweeted.

His response came hours after India summoned the deputy high commissioner of Pakistan Syed Haider Shah and accused Islamabad of denying access to the Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria to visit Gurdwara Panja Sahib and meet the pilgrims.
A strong protest was also registered by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad over the incident.
“It has been conveyed to Pakistan side that preventing the Indian High Commission officials from discharging its consular responsibilities is in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, and the 1974 bilateral Protocol on visit to religious shrines,” a statement by the Indian foreign ministry said.
The Paki Govt is going out of its way to "welcome" the Sikhs from India , and at the same time, practicing blatant discrimination on the ones who are still stuck in Pakiland !

PTI urges NAB to investigate Iftikhar Chaudhry in Eden housing scam
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been asked to launch an investigation against former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for duping people in Eden Housing Scheme.In a letter sent by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry to NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Friday, Fawad urged NAB to take action against Iftikhar Chaudhry otherwise questions would be raised about the impartiality of NAB.
The PTI has asked the bureau to take action against Iftikhar Chaudhry, his daughter, son-in-law and the father of his son-in-law for allegedly cheating innocent people who had invested their hard-earned money in the Eden Housing Scheme. The net is being cast quite broadly . What about his "Doctor son". He is suspected to be a "first class fraudster" as well !
The PTI’s move is seen as a tit-for-tat response to the former chief justice whose political party has filed objections to the nomination papers of PTI chairman Imran Khan for the coming general elections.

ISLAMABAD: An extraordinary meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary board has failed to take decisions on awarding party tickets to aspirants and the matter has been left to party chief Imran Khan, who would make the final decision by Sunday, it has been learnt.
Sources told Pakistan Today that the party’s parliamentary board held an hours-long meeting but could not take decisions due to serious differences cropping up between senior leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Jahangir Khan Tareen. They added that because of the differences between party members, the matter was finally left with Imran Khan who would now take decisions on all the remaining constituencies.
Imran is PTI and PTI is Imran. It just pretends to be a "democratic " party !
The source also revealed that Qureshi has accused Tareen of provoking Ahmad Hussain Dahar to stage a protest demonstration at Banigala. Qureshi, however, claims that Dahar is not even capable of securing the seat of MPA which falls under Bosan’s constituency.
Another issue is the award of tickets to some MPAs in Multan where Tareen wants to award tickets to two youths who had staged a sit-in outside the residence of Qureshi during the recent local government elections.
Meanwhile, talking to media on Saturday, Jahangir Tareen denied making any contact with Shah Mehmood Qureshi after their bickering. He also said that party matters should not be discussed through press conferences.“I am striving to distribute tickets to only those members who can win from their constituencies and Imran Khan is making efforts for the same objective,” he said.“If our candidates don’t win from their constituencies, then Imran will not be able to become the prime minister,” Tareen said.
Obviously, if PTI wins, these candidates will be in the running for cabinet posts, etc etc

The family of Jahangeer decided to kill Ali Raza, but the father decided to settle the enmity by negotiation. Thus, for this, he nominated Ghulam Qadir, Mureed Hussain, Noor Ahmad and Malik Waheed as the mediators.
The panchayat met the father of Asia Noreen on Thursday and ordered that to settle the enmity raised due to love marriage, Muhammad Shafi will marry his 6-years-old daughter to Ali Imran, son of Ch Jahangeer, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Although the matter has been kept as a top secret by both families and the police, Daily Times has received the copies of the panchayat order, court marriage order of Ali and Asia.
SHO PS Rangshah, Maqbool Ahmad told Daily Times on phone call that the matter is in the notice of the police and an FIR has been registered. However, he denied providing a copy of the FIR, details of the sections under which the FIR has been launched and names of the persons against which the first information report has been launched taking the excuse that the authorities have ordered to seal the FIR.

However, he raised serious concerns over his family’s safety and said that the target killers deployed by Ch Jahangeer are after him.“After I left the town, Jahangeer and his men broke into my house and took my land in their custody”, Shafi said. He requested the Interim Chief Minister, IGP, Chief Justice Lahore High Court and human rights organizations to come to the rescue of his family.

India kept the ball 80% of the time. Defensive players were basically watching except for last 10 minutes or so when we scored 3 goals on rebound.
Case against ex-army officials adjourned on NAB request
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday sought over one-and-a-half month adjournment in the hearing of a corruption reference against some former senior army officials since some accused are outside the country and the bureau is planning to bring them back with the help of the ministry of foreign affairs.Accountability Court judge Mohammad Bashir adjourned the proceedings in the Royal Palm Golf Club corruption reference till Aug 3.
Accountability Judge, Bashir dare not cross the "red lines" set up by Deep State . He bloody well knows what he CAN do and what he CANNOT DO. The NAB "goes tough" on civvies like Ganja and his family . For the Army, they have to be careful - like walking on egg shells . IMO, it is the case here .
On Friday, all the accused persons, except Brig Akhtar Ali Baig ( obviously a "big shot" in the fauj !) and three accused persons of Malaysian origin, were absent. The court had summoned all the accused to hand over to them the copies of the reference to frame charges against them at a later stage.
A NAB official told the court that it was trying to involve the foreign affairs ministry ( and the Deep State as well !) to bring all the accused persons, including a Malaysian citizen, in the dock.
Those nominated as accused by NAB include former ISI chief retired Lt Gen Javed Ashraf Qazi, who was also former chairman of the Pakistan Railways and former federal minister for communications and railways’, retired Lt Gen Saeed-uz-Zaman, a former secretary and chairman of the Railways Board, retired Maj Gen Hamid Hassan Butt, retired Brig Akhtar Ali Baig, Iqbal Samad Khan, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Abdul Ghaffar, Ramzan Sheikh, Pervaiz Qureshi, sponsors of the Royal Palm Golf Club, and five other officers allegedly involved in illegal award of lease of Railways Golf Club in Lahore.
These are "big honchos" in the Paki Establishment ( civilian and military) . Can anyone expect them to spend the time in jail

A comprehensive report issued by the National Assembly’s Special Committee on Railways on the allotment of land for setting up the golf club had exposed several financial and administrative irregularities and recommended prosecution of all members of the railways executive committee.The Federal Investigation Agency carried out a separate investigation on the special committee’s instruction.
