Famous Paki Cricket Fan's Gesture To An Indian Man !

Pakistani buys match ticket for Indian man to watch Pak-India clash in Dubai

Sept 19, 2018
Pakistani man, in a rare gesture of affection, bought flight tickets for an Indian cricket enthusiast after the latter failed to bear travel costs of going to Dubai to watch the historic India v Pakistan match at Asia Cup 2018 scheduled to be held today (Wednesday).Pakistan cricket team’s superfan Bashir, popularly known as Chacha Chicago, bought flight tickets for Sudhir Gautam, an avid Sachin Tendulkar fan.
Pakistanis have "big hearts" , Indians have "small hearts" story
Bashir also assured Sudhir to cover all his travel expenses and accommodation in Dubai.
Hope no "cheque is in the mail" story
A prime example of how cricket binds countries, it all began when Sudhir told Bashir how desperately he wants to travel to Dubai to watch the match but cannot due to lack of financial support.
“It’s pure love. You know money will come and go with Allah's grace. I told Sudhir you just come here and I will take care of everything. I am not a rich person but my heart is as big as an ocean. If I help you, Allah will be happy," Bashir Chacha told xtratime.in from the UAE.
Chacha to the rescue !

Ex Pak Amb Hussain Huqqani in a talk with Hudson Institute says this about CPEC passing through Gilgit-Balistan:
Pakistan is of the view that since J&K is disputed, it is okay to construct CPEC infra passing through PoK and once CPEC is conpleted, and when it seeks a UN referendum, then people of Gilgit-Balistan will vote for it because of CPEC and muslim population in our J&K will also vote for it. Therefore in Pakistan’s perspective CPEC is awesome move for it will usher in Its economic prosperity and also it will gaurantee J&K once UN referendum is sought as majority of People of J&K including Gilgit-Balistan will vote for it.

BSF head constable, killed in Pakistan firing, found with throat slit
Following the incident, vigil has been stepped up along the International Border.
BSF officials were tight-lipped over the matter, sources said they had lodged a strong protest with their Pakistani counterparts.
A day after a bullet-ridden body of a BSF head constable was found near the International Border in J&K’s Ramgarh sector, it has emerged that his throat was also slit by the Pakistan Rangers.
Significantly, the incident took place a day after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated two smart fence projects as a part of the Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS) along the International Border in Jammu.
Remind me again...why is India playing cricket with terroristan? Kadi ninda needed. Send in Sidhuji Hugwalla to deliver this message.

Exit SAARC, enter BIMSTEC

Exit SAARC, enter BIMSTEC

Imran will turn on the charm to convince Modi, or at least Sushma, to attend a SAARC summit in Pakistan. Neither should and neither will.

17th September 2018

By Minhaz Merchant

Early mornings in the three-bungalow complex at Lok Kalyan Marg, which serves as PM Narendra Modi’s residence and personal office, are tranquil. There, Modi reflects on the day’s schedule, does yoga and devours the morning papers along with a light breakfast.

On his mind will be the packed international calendar: the UN General Assembly speech will again be given by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. Modi has other priorities than the annual bickering at the UNGA between India and Pakistan that no one outside the subcontinent pays attention to. The PM’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in October is a more pressing engagement given the diplomatic tightrope India has to walk between Washington and Moscow.

But the real problems lie closer at home. Following a successful India-US 2+2 dialogue earlier this month, India has achieved three geopolitical objectives. First, naming Pakistani terror groups like the Lashkar-e-Tayyiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad in the joint statement at the end of the dialogue between the foreign and defence ministers of the two nations. The wording is significant: The US has for the first time used the term terror groups operating from areas “under Pakistan’s control” rather than “Pakistani territory”. The shift in nuance is not an accident. The US accepts that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is not sovereign Pakistan territory.

As the India-US joint statement pointed out: “The Ministers denounced any use of terrorist proxies in the region, and … called on Pakistan to ensure that the territory under its control is not used to launch terrorist attacks on other countries. … They called on Pakistan to bring to justice expeditiously the perpetrators of the Mumbai, Pathankot, Uri and other cross-border terror attacks. The Ministers welcomed the launch of a bilateral dialogue on designation of terrorists in 2017, which is strengthening cooperation and action against terrorist groups, including Al-Qaida, ISIS, Lashkar-e-Tayyiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, Hizb-ul Mujahideen, D-Company and their affiliates.”

This is also the first time an official US statement has been so explicit about Pakistan’s complicity in sponsoring proxy terror against India. Despite the US tilt towards India, the region’s problems will have to be solved by regional initiatives. A key shift in India’s regional strategy is allowing the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to remain comatose. India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka boycotted the last SAARC summit scheduled to be held in Pakistan. The summit was aborted. Islamabad is desperately keen to host the abandoned summit in November 2018.

Pakistan’s new PM Imran Khan will turn on the charm to convince Modi, or at least Sushma, to attend. Neither should and neither will. Without India, a SAARC summit is a non-starter. Pakistan knows this. A second consecutive snub will play badly with Pakistan’s establishment that craves equivalence with and respect from India. It doesn’t qualify for the former and does not merit the latter.

Meanwhile, India has other irons in the fire. It is developing BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) as a substitute for the mothballed SAARC. The BIMSTEC comprises India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Myanmar and Thailand. The first five are also part of the eight-member SAARC. The three SAARC absentees in BIMSTEC are Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Maldives. By giving Afghanistan special observer status, BIMSTEC can entirely replicate SAARC minus Pakistan and the Maldives.

There are precedents for giving non-contiguous countries observer status. For example, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a grouping headed by China and Russia and comprising a smattering of Central Asian countries, gave India and Pakistan observer status before admitting both recently as full members.

The presence of Afghanistan as a special invitee to BIMSTEC will send a terse message to Pakistan whose proxy terror war has turned ordinary Afghans into bitter critics of Pakistan. The appointment of Zalmay Khalilzad as special US envoy to Kabul is significant. Khalilzad is an anti-Pakistan hawk. According to Khaled Ahmed, a columnist with the Pakistan edition of Newsweek: “If you are a non-Pashtun Pakistani in Afghanistan on a business trip, pretend to be from India or you will get roughed up, so offended are the Pashtun Afghans carrying the baggage of rage over the creation of Pakistan that divided the Pashtun nation. With Khalilzad helping President Ghani in Kabul, Pakistan is going to find it difficult to engage with Afghanistan on the lines it is familiar with.”

BIMSTEC is over 20 years old but has only now assumed geopolitical importance. Many of its members are targets of China’s ambitious One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative. Some like Sri Lanka and Myanmar have noted Malaysia’s rebuff to China by cancelling OBOR infrastructure projects worth $22 billion. By using BIMSTEC as its primary regional forum, India can achieve two complementary objectives. One, isolate Pakistan regionally; two, build support against the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (a part of OBOR) that violates sovereign Indian territory in PoK.

The BIMSTEC summit in Kathmandu on August 30-31 has partially restored India’s relationship with Nepal’s China-leaning premier K P Oli. China’s recent decision to allow Nepal use of four Chinese ports has ended India’s monopoly though the 3,300-km distance from Nepal to the nearest Chinese port makes the arrangement impractical. Nepal’s hostility following India’s thoughtless blockade in 2015-16 has however mellowed.

India’s strategic defence partnership with the US gives it an edge regionally. BIMSTEC will allow India to further strengthen its Act East policy. The Indo-Pacific extends from the Middle East to the west coast of the US. India’s strategic impulse, as it prepares for a wider global role, is to have tactical options to both its east and west.

In Pakistan, Journos Are Not Being Killed But ......

Acts of Intimidation: In Pakistan, journalists' fear and censorship grow even as fatal violence declines
CPJ
Sept 12, 2018
Islamabad
The near-fatal attack on investigative journalist Ahmad Noorani last October stood out for one reason: its brazenness. Assailants trailed Noorani’s car for miles before attacking him with a tire iron on a busy Islamabad street. The journalist, who covers sensitive political issues that often involve the military, was saved only through the intervention of passersby. The attack followed a pattern all too familiar to Pakistan’s press. Nearly a year later, no arrests, just silence and an unmistakable message that those who report critically on sensitive subjects, including the military, the courts, or religion, should tread carefully.
The deterioration in the climate for press freedom in Pakistan accompanied a reduction in murders and attacks against the media. Journalists and press freedom advocates say the two trends are linked, with measures the military took to stomp out terrorism directly resulting in pressure on the media. Privately, senior editors and journalists say that conditions for the free press are as bad as when the country was under military dictatorship, and journalists were flogged and newspapers forced to close.
When CPJ traveled to Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Lahore, and Okara earlier this year, journalists, including freelancers and those from established media companies, painted a picture of a media under siege. Many traced the changes to two events in 2014: a shooting that injured Geo TV anchor Hamid Mir and led to a fallout among media groups and with the military, and the aftermath of a terrorist attack in Peshawar that left over 130 students dead.
The military garnered widespread praise for its crackdown on militancy after the school attack, which resulted in a sharp decline of terrorist incidents—and in turn, violence against journalists. Yet the stepped-up activity put the military in position to exert even greater control.
The military already wields influence and power in Pakistan, where it is deeply embedded in society, as well as the country’s economic and political systems. The armed forces are seen widely as an effective institution that holds the nation together, and offers protection. To the east, Pakistan faces India, a far larger and powerful neighbor that is considered hostile, and with whom it has a territorial dispute over Kashmir. To the west is Afghanistan, unstable and with a porous, mountainous border that creates obstacles to security. Internationally, the U.S. has used Pakistan as a staging area for operations in Afghanistan, even as it launches drone strikes against militants on Pakistani territory—an issue of nationalist ire.
While the military submits to the formalities of civilian rule, it sees itself as a bulwark against what some view as the chaos of democratic politics. But it remains sensitive to criticism or allegations, such as its apparent support for terrorist groups in neighboring countries, including the Afghan Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is accused of staging the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack.
There is ample evidence to support Army support to these terrorist groups !
The military has quietly, but effectively, set restrictions on reporting: from barring access to regions including Baluchistan where there is armed separatism and religious extremism, to encouraging self-censorship through direct and indirect methods of intimidation, including calling editors to complain about coverage and even allegedly instigating violence against reporters. Gul Bhukhari was made an example of . Her British passport helped her !
The military, intelligence, or military-linked and political groups were the suspected source of fire that resulted in half of the 22 journalist murders in the past decade, according to CPJ research. Hence it is easy to see how the military’s widening reach is viewed as a source of intimidation. The military has clashed with Pakistan’s elected government, which tried and ultimately failed to assert civilian control. Journalists find themselves in the middle of this battle, struggling to report while staying out of trouble.
Issues including religion, land disputes, militants, and the economy can all spark retaliation—and laws such as the Pakistan Protection Ordinance, a counterterrorism law that allows people to be detained without charge for 90 days, are used to retaliate against critical reporting. Female journalists must navigate additional pressures when reporting in religiously conservative areas, such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or rural districts.
A detailed request for comment on this report, emailed to Major General Asif Ghafoor, spokesman for the armed forces, was not answered. General Ghafoor earlier did not respond to a request for a meeting. A scheduled interview with the then information minister in Islamabad was cancelled at the last minute by the government.
Guilty feelings
With high-profile attacks, like the failed assassination of Geo TV’s Mir, journalists say they are often forced to play it safe by toning down or avoiding controversial but newsworthy stories. Sometimes, as Noorani found, even the briefest lapse in security can expose a journalist to near-fatal consequences.
Noorani, who writes for the daily paper, The News, admits he made a mistake before his attack. For the first time in years, he said during an interview in Islamabad, he used an unencrypted phone line to make an appointment for the next day. Usually he uses an encrypted app to prevent others from eavesdropping on conversations. Somebody, he doesn’t know exactly who, must have been listening in, he said.
When Noorani started off on a 12-mile (20 km) drive from his home on October 27, windows down on a pleasant day, neither he nor his driver noticed the motorcycles tailing the car. When the car entered one of the few stretches along the route with no video surveillance, one of the motorbikes pulled in front of the car and stopped. Noorani’s driver tried to maneuver away, but one of the motorbikes spun faster around the car and, at roughly 25 miles per hour, the rider stretched through the open window, and grabbed the ignition key, forcing Noorani’s car to stop.
ISI goons on motorcycle . This is the most popular modus operandi !
It was then, Noorani said, that he made his second mistake. Seeing what he thought were a few harmless teenagers whom he took to be students, Noorani stepped out of the car. The apparent students attacked him with knives, cutting him on the back of his head. One took a hard, well-aimed swing to his left temple with a tire iron, knocking Noorani to the ground. Only the intervention of construction workers interrupted the attacker, poised for a second blow to the head in what doctors told Noorani would likely have killed or incapacitated him for life. His attackers fled. Noorani spent four days in hospital. His driver was also injured.
Who attacked Noorani, and why? Like so much else that happens to journalists in Pakistan, precisely identifying culprits isn’t easy. The police investigation, said Noorani, turned up nothing aside from evidence that the attack was well-planned. And yet, the answers come swiftly from journalists and others whom CPJ asked about the attack: “the establishment,” “the deep state,” “the powers that be,” or, from the more brave, “the military” or even “the ISI”—Pakistan’s powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency.
Pakistan has had multiple military coups though, nominally, today it’s ruled by an elected civilian government. The previous government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League—PML-N—failed to win re-election on July 25, with its leader, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sherif, jailed on corruption charges just before the vote. Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), won a plurality of seats and he was sworn in as prime minister on August 18, heading a coalition government.
Pakistan’s constitution guarantees freedom of the press and access to information, and the country has a large and robust media industry, including extensive privately held broadcast news. And yet, as CPJ found, true press freedom is elusive. While the military is not solely responsible for the pressures facing the media, its hands can be found almost everywhere.
CPJ’s 2013 special report on Pakistan found near complete impunity after a multi-year spike in the murders of journalists, along with an increase in terror attacks. While impunity remains an unsolved issue—Pakistan has appeared in every annual Impunity Index—CPJ research shows that fewer journalists are being killed in retaliation for their work.
Killing a journo brings "bad publicity" !
“I think the numbers [of killed journalists] are going down because the resistance from the media that used to come, let’s say five years or six years ago, had drastically gone down as well,” said Asad Baig, founder and executive director of Media Matters for Democracy. “And that is perhaps because of the very organized control mediums in place. People are very clear about what to say, and what not to say, what are those clearly drawn red lines that they cannot cross. And these are not just the journalists, but the media owners, editors and all the way up.”In other words, Pakistani media consumers aren’t getting a full or accurate picture of critical issues facing the country. This is no accident. The military and other powerful institutions have established lines of control to stifle the press, by promoting people and issues considered favorable, and limiting the dissemination of content found objectionable.

India at UN: ‘World doesn’t need lessons on democracy, human rights from Pakistan’
India Tuesday said it was ironic that Pakistan, a country founded on religious fundamentalism, spoke of communal disharmony and religious intolerance.
“The world does not need lessons on democracy and human rights from Pakistan which has not enjoyed any true democracy since its existence,” First Secretary in the Permanent Mission of India in Geneva Mini Devi Kumar said. “The real problem in Jammu and Kashmir is cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan.

Arson Spree at Schools Stokes Suspicions of Pakistani Forces
Hail SeePack!

New York Times article - 09.19.18
Posting key snippets.
GILGIT-BALTISTAN, Pakistan — On a clear night last month, Shams al-Haq woke to the smell of smoke and the sight of the schoolhouse near his fruit farm going up in flames.

Mr. Haq and his neighbors spent hours fighting the fire until dawn, when it became a lost cause. They soon learned that it was one of 14 schools, most of them for girls, set ablaze on the same night, over just an hour in Gilgit-Baltistan, a mountainous territory stretching across northern Pakistan.

Once again, it seemed girls’ education in Pakistan was under assault by militants.
..............

And as dozens of Pakistani soldiers moved into the area after the fires, many residents began considering new theories about who — and what — might have been behind the arson spree.

For one, the school that burned down near Mr. Haq’s farm had not been in use for at least five years — and there was an operational girls’ school just down the road that went untouched.

.........

Several other schools that were attacked were similarly deserted. And all lie on the same corridor of mountains that has become one of the most strategically and economically important regions for Pakistan. The area is set to become home to some $20 billion worth of development projects by China, part of an estimated $68 billion infrastructure program known as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, or C.P.E.C.

..........

Security along the planned economic corridor has for years been a priority for the military, and the burned schools are all close to the locations of major C.P.E.C. infrastructure projects.

That proximity has led some residents and security analysts here to wonder whether the only reason that Pakistani security forces surged here after the fires was to protect the economic interests.

Distrust and resentment of the military runs so deep that some speculated that Pakistani forces have used the fires as a pretext to start a broader crackdown within the economic development zone.

One writer and academic, Aziz Ali Dad, said it is important to ask: Who has the most to gain from the military’s sudden presence?

“Far worse attacks, many of them on schools, have happened in this area before, but no one was caught,” he said. “This time, we see next to no casualties and huge action. There must be pressure from inside the establishment.”

But the district police superintendent, Muhammad Ajmal, flatly denied theories that the army had somehow been involved, saying that the troops came only because the police needed help.

“These are conspiracy theories. ....There’s a core group of bad guys, known terrorists who have been involved in this kind of stuff before. ”

.........

The local police quickly drew up a list of criminals and known extremists they could round up. In the days that followed, some of these extremists clashed with government forces, leaving three police officers dead. Two senior government officials were reported to have narrowly escaped retaliatory assassination attempts.

Soon, the Karakorum Highway, the main artery running through the district, was lined with police and military checkpoints. Big army trucks became a common sight on the dusty roads. An all-out manhunt was declared with bounties on the suspected attackers and their collaborators.

Dozens of men were taken into custody, often without warrants. One school-bus driver said he believed his brother had been arrested simply because of his long hair, a trait associated with Islamist extremists here.

.........

Because of the history this region has with India, with Kashmir, and now with C.P.E.C., there’s a lot of sensitivity to these issues here,” Mr. Shigri said.

........

It’s not that the army is coming, it’s that they’re already here,” said Mr. Haq, looking down the road to where the military recently set up a checkpoint. “They’re not going to leave now,” he said. “The system is set up that way.”

Conspiracy and mistrust have become steeped in the everyday culture in the villages and towns that line the mountain valleys, partly because the region sits on the fault lines of some of Pakistan’s most serious geopolitical issues.

..........

The picturesque mountains around Gilgit-Baltistan are vulnerable to influence from all three, often in the shape of “agencies,” a local euphemism for informants and spies, both foreign and domestic.

Only 11 percent of women here are literate.

..........

Even the most conservative mountain tribes are starting to send some of their daughters to classes. “They wouldn’t attack their own schools, for their own girls,” she said. “It just doesn’t make sense.”

Doors of Holy Kaaba opened for Prime Minister Imran Khan
As per details, the doors of Holy Kaaba were opened for the Prime Minister Imran Khan, and was bestowed with the opportunity of going inside Holy Kaaba. He prayed for the Muslim world there.
The Prime Minister along with delegation, comprising Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar and some other cabinet's members, will later arrive in Abu Dhabi in the evening on September 19, where he may also watch the much hyped Pakistan-India cricket match.
Did Mushy and Bad Sharief ever get this kind of honor?

Transgenders Will Get To " Enjoy More Respect " Now. Separate Hospital Wards For Them !

LHC seeks suggestions to set up separate hospital wards for transgender persons
Sept 19, 2018
LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday sought suggestions from the Punjab Health Department to set up separate hospital wards for transgender persons.Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi was hearing a petition pertaining to establishing separate wards for transgender persons. The petition was filed by Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhry.During the hearing, the court observed that transgender persons are God’s creation and can be born in any family.
Instead of setting separate hospital wards for them, it is much better if something gets done to make sure that they do not become shooting targets in major cities, specially Peshawar !
The court further noted that a separate room must be reserved for transgender persons in all state-run hospitals. Moreover, the court ordered the Punjab Health Department to submit its recommendations on providing healthcare facilities to transgender persons by September 26.
The judge remarked that the recommendations must be implemented before September 30. Earlier, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar said two transgenders would be provided jobs in the Supreme Court. In our society transgenders are subjected to ridicule. It is our top most priority to give them their rights,” he was quoted as saying.
If he is genuinely interested in helping the hijras, good for him !

That Missing PIA Air Hostess Submitted Bogus Educational Certificate And Was Involved In Criminal Activities As Well. !

Missing air hostess case: Startling revelations of criminal nature surface against Fareeha Mukhtar
Sept 19, 2018
*KARACHI - New startling revelations have surfaced in the case of the missing air hostess of Pakistan International Airlines.*
* A history of criminal offense of the reportedly missing air hostess of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in Toronto, has been surfaced on Wednesday.*
*T*he air hostess named Fareeha Mukhtar had been involved in various criminal activities in the past.
In 2015, the air hostess was caught during smuggling foreign currency and mobile phones at the Heathrow airport in London. In the same year, she was suspended from her job as well.
As per the sources, Fareeha was inducted into the PIA on the basis of a fake Bachelors degree. In 2014, she was given a show-cause notice for submitting bogus educational documents.
Strange that with such a checkered past, she was still allowed to stay on the job ! And no one terminated her ! Shows the extent of the rot in the National Carrier !
Fareeha disappeared mysteriously after a flight carrying passengers landed in Canada’s Toronto city on Thursday.
She will probably join hundreds if not thousands of Pakis , who once land in Canada, mysteriously disappear , and survive by hook or crook until caught and deported or even worse submit false refugee claims to remain here !
According to PIA spokesperson, air hostess, Fareeha Mukhtar, boarded the PIA flight PK-789 from Lahore but as soon as it landed in Toronto, she disappeared mysteriously and never boarded the return flight. The air hostess was supposed to return to Lahore on PIA’s PK-782 flight on the very day but never boarded the plane despite leaving for the same with her colleagues. The PIA spokesperson maintained that a missing report has been lodged with the Canadian police and authorities have been informed regarding her disappearance.
The Canadian authorities most likely suspect that she may have gone "underground" to evade the law !

More "Hot Air" From Naya Pakistan

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation launch a unique initiative
Sept 19, 2018
ISLAMABAD - Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) is all set to launch a web portal ‘Naya Pakistan Calling’ to hire the services of highly qualified Pakistani professionals working abroad by the end of this month.
The OPF spokesperson Arshad Ali told APP that the launching of portal was a part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s first 100 day reforms initiative plan.He said the department had running this portal as a pilot project on its official site and as many as 15 expatriates had been registered so far.
Hope the positions are offered to Paki Expats based on meritocracy and not how close is there "relationship" to The Great Khan. !
“We are ready to engage those overseas professionals who could share their expertise in their relevant field online. Besides, this portal will also help connect the department with those who are willing to come Pakistan for serving the country in light of their experience,” Arshad added.
Just make sure that you do not burn your bridges in UK, USA or Canada or wherever. And do not become ghat ka kutta , neither here or neither there
He explained that the willing expatriates had to add their qualification, area of interest and experience after registering themselves on the department’s official site. The OPF after verifying their particulars recommend the aspirants to relevant department, considering their abilities, knowledge and experience, the spokesperson added. - APP
Then the "aspirants" would have to go through the minefield of Paki Bureaucracy ( AKA Purana Pakistan )

What Did The "Senile Saudi" Discuss With The Paki Lothario

What did PM Imran Khan, King Salman discuss in first ever meeting?
Sept 19, 2018

Most likely it was just a courtesy call on the "Old King" . 15 Minutes at the max IMO . Nothing would have been discussed considering Salman's physical, mental and emotional health . He is just a figurehead , nothing else . So all this about mutual interest, bilateral trade, economic ties is pure hogwash !

Opponents of CPEC shall never succeed, says Chinese president - Our Correspondent
BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that those who oppose the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) or China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) shall never succeed as this is an initiative of peace and development not only for China but for the region and beyond.
“Pakistan is our time-tested iron friend and Pakistan Army has a pivotal role towards this lasting relationship,” the Chinese leader said in a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who called on him on Wednesday on special invitation.

Terroristan : The First Colony of the Modern Chinese Empire!

ISLAMABAD .: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government is looking forward to strengthening bilateral relations with China on religious grounds as well.

In a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing on Wednesday, the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noorul Haq Qadri said Pakistan is willing to review the syllabus that is being taught in the religious seminaries in China and would provide possible assistance for improving it if required.

The meeting was held to discuss important issues like China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), social development and welfare work in the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), Afghan refugees and other matters of mutual interest.

CPEC opportunity: 7 Chinese students heading to capital to study Urdu

The Chinese ambassador said that over 20 million Muslims are living in China and are enjoying religious freedom.

He vowed to work with Pakistan for developing curricula for Chinese Muslims.

The religious minister said that Pakistan is keen to start an exchange programme of scholars with the neighbouring country.

“This will help the Muslim scholars of both countries to discuss and come up with new ideas for promoting religious and interfaith harmony,” he added.

Customs officials set to learn Chinese language

The Chinese envoy said that China is interested to work for the social welfare of the people especially of the women living in the erstwhile Fata and wanted to invest in the effort to provide them clean drinking water, quality health and education.

He added that CPEC will bring a positive change in the area.

The Chinese envoy added the initiative will also provide opportunities for promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He also said that China will build around 50 schools in the region of Fata to boost the literacy rate

Who cares now even if CPEC is completed? even if shiny roads are completed, Gwadar port done, TSP will be debt ridden. Time tested friend and all that is pure BS, most of the profits will fill Chinese pockets, may be it is a success to the Chinese. CPEC is a white elephant or worse for TSP.
CPEC even if it’s completed given that CPEC routes from our borders are 75(?)km within the range of Brahmos, BVR missiles, it will be of our choosing to make the CPEC non-functional if that comes to that. So carry on, call us when it's done.

SC nullifies sharia court's decision to make Arabic compulsory at schools
The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled against the inclusion of Arabic as a mandatory component of the national educational curriculum.

A letter penned by the principal of Oriental College, Lahore, Zahoor Ahmed Azhar, was converted into an application and a decision was taken thereafter by the sharia court.

The letter had termed Arabic as one of the world's top languages and had also referenced General Ziaul Haq's decision to declare Arabic a mandatory course from the sixth to the 12th grade.

It had also proposed the use of the Arabic language across various other fields besides education.

Yet another Paki 'artiste' hoping to make milk it in Bollywood

There is no better service than a Pakistani working in India the right way
A global superstar :?: at the moment, Ali Zafar is a man of all seasons. Not only is he multifaceted (multi faced ?), having achieved success as a musician and an actor, but he also puts his heart and soul into everything he does.
I believe there is no better service than if a Pakistani works in India the right way and does great things.
I remember the Uri attacks took place after filming my scenes for Dear Zindagi. Because of this reason, it was decided that Pakistani actors could not be in the film and they would have to replace me in it. They shot the entire portion with another actor, but the director took a stand and my part remains in the film.

According To This, Immy's Naya Pakistan Was "Shortlived" !

Stabilisation begins
Dawn
Khurram Husain
Sept 20, 2018
AND so it begins. All else that has been happening thus far, from auctioning buffaloes to commuting in choppers, has been pre-game entertainment. Nothing more. The real game of running the country begins now as the new government starts to take key decisions on key matters that have profound implications for the standard of living of the people, and the profits and losses of large business interests. This is the real test, not the rhetoric and symbolic stunts that we have been treated to thus far.
Optics like selling buffaloes and "converting palaces into Universities" are also important for "fooling the awaam"
Now we will see how well this government stands up to powerful vested interests, how it explains to the people the pain they have to absorb for the sake of macroeconomic adjustment, how it decides winners and losers in the economic sphere through its tax policies or gas-pricing regimes. The finance act and the initial gas price adjustment have given us the first glimpse into this, and the picture is not pretty.
Reality check !
There is a view that one keeps encountering these days, which is that the present government should not be subjected to critical commentary, either because it is too soon for it to prove itself, or that it stands above all criticism simply because it is the PTI led by Imran Khan. ( Criticizing the Kaptaan not allowed !) This view must be rejected outright.
Yes it is too soon for results, but it is not too soon for a direction, nor is it too soon to start calling a U-turn a U-turn. The quality of judgement we see in the leadership of the government, the direction they are setting, how well they are gelling together to articulate and follow a shared set of goals, principles, objectives, all these things are now fairly well revealed and this government is not too young, nor immune, from any critical comment on any of this.
As expected, the policy direction that has emerged from the new finance act is one of macroeconomic stabilisation, meaning it seeks to bridge the two massive deficits opening up in the economy, which if not addressed rapidly will create a huge economic crisis. In doing this, the PTI government is not the first, and very likely not the last, to begin its term with a large macroeconomic adjustment.
The total size of the adjustment it seeks to undertake through the finance act is 2.1 per cent of GDP, which is just over Rs700 billion going by the latest GDP figures posted on the State Bank website. This means they have to find new taxes and expenditure cuts that between them are equal to Rs700bn.
Beyond the size of the adjustment, what makes the finance act noteworthy is how it represents a backtracking on key policy measures that had upset powerful vested interests, such as the ban on purchasing cars and properties by non-filers of tax returns. The government has rightfully taken a great deal of criticism for this backtracking, so instead of repeating all that, let me add a new element here.
To justify the step, Asad Umar claimed the ban had made it difficult for overseas Pakistanis to invest and do business in Pakistan, because they are non-filers of tax returns here. This reasoning makes no sense. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir had the same problem when the whole non-filer business began, yet solutions were found without rolling back the entire reform effort. Why can’t the same be done for overseas Pakistanis today? The climbdown smacks of a deep bow to vested interests more than anything else.
Asad Umer himself - before he became "Imran's employee"- was an employee of one of the richest man of Pakiland, Abdul Razak Dawood-( who has now been appointed as a "Commerce Advisor" -on the recommendation of Umer - and who was responsible for the anti- Cheeni and anti - CPEC remarks published in the Financial Times !
And this is not the only example. In every contact this party has had with powerful interests, it has backed down rather than hold its ground. This began with the call from Donald Trump and how it was reported by the US authorities. It continued with the adviser on commerce having to climb down from his remarks on CPEC, which was followed up by contrary remarks made by the president and the finance minister on the floor of the Assembly. So much for the review that the planning minister, Khusro Bakhtiar, was supposed to take! It was again on display with the climbdown on Prof Atif Mian’s appointment to the Economic Advisory Council, and now we are seeing the same thing happening in the framing of economic policy.
Examples of U Turns and hence of abandonment of Naya Pakistan IMHO !
This critical weakness, this reluctance to show spine, to hold one’s own in the face of vested opposition, is the PTI’s Achilles heel. It shows this party is having a difficult time pulling itself together around a vision for reform or change. And with this weakness, it will never be able to manage the economy or safeguard the public interest.

Imran offers talks, but Modi should be wary of Pakistan’s doublespeak - Quick Edit in TOI Editorials | India, World | TOI

The government must respond with great caution to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s written letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking resumption of comprehensive bilateral dialogue.

On the one hand, Khan, who was the Pakistan army’s candidate in the recently held general elections, wants to resume the December 2015 bilateral talks which were suspended in the wake of the terror attack on Pathankot airbase. But on the other hand, Pakistan has not shown any change in its approach and policy vis-à-vis cross-border terrorism. There has been no action against the mastermind and executors of the Pathankot, Uri and the subsequent terror attacks.

The Trump administration suspended massive aid to Pakistan, which is in the dire need of an IMF bailout due to a balance of payment crisis because the quasi-military state has not adequately addressed America’s concerns on terrorism. On Wednesday, the US specifically said that Pakistan based terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba, which operate in Kashmir, continue to pose a serious threat to the region.

Read: Imran Khan writes to PM Modi, calls for resumption of peace dialogue

In Kashmir, ever since Khan took over as the Prime Minister, infiltration, terror attacks and militant recruitment has not only continued but assumed deadlier turn with Pakistan sponsored Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit threatening to kill security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as family members, if they do not resign in the next few days. Just yesterday, BSF jawan Narender Kumar was killed by Pakistani firing across the International Border in Jammu region.

The Modi government should be wary of doublespeak from Islamabad, which has a history of punctuating peace talks with terror. Islamabad should be asked to make a clear choice between the two.

Fauj Okays Imran's Letter To Modi-ji "Pleading For Talks"

PM Imran emphasizes on ‘constructive engagement’ in letter to Modi
Sept 20, 2018
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has written a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking resumption of dialogue with ‘constructive engagement’ between the two countries on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session later this month in New York. In his letter, Khan asked the PM Modi to green light a meeting between external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi on the sidelines of the UN meet, so they could ‘explore the way forward, especially the holding of the SAARC Council of Ministers followed by the SAARC Summit in Islamabad.’
India should not bite !
Here’s the full letter
I wish to thank you for your warm greetings and best wishes on my assumption of charge as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

I endorse your sentiment that the only way forward for our two countries lies in “constructive engagement”. It was in this spirit that Pakistan’s Minister of Law and Information attended the funeral of Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi. Mr. Vajpayee contributed in trying to bring a positive change in our bilateral relations and was also a major proponent of a strong SAARC for building bridges and developing ties.
Imran Khan Modi letter
Letter copy via WOI News

Pakistan and India have an undeniably challenging relationship. We, however, owe it to our people, especially the future generations to peacefully resolve all outstanding issues, including the Jammu & Kashmir dispute, to bridge differences and achieve a mutually beneficial outcome. Siachin and Sir Creek need close attention to move towards resolution. Pakistan remains ready to discuss terrorism.
Discussion on trade, people to people contacts, religious tourism, humanitarian issues are also important. Building on mutual desire for peace between our two countries. I wish to propose a meeting between foreign minister, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the External Affairs minister Ms. Sushma Swaraj, before the informal meeting of the SAARC foreign ministers at the sidelines of the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York. They can explore the way forward, especially the holding of the SAARC Council of Ministers followed by the SAARC Summit in Islamabad. The summit will offer an opportunity for you to visit Pakistan and for us to re-start the stalled dialogue process.I look forward to working with you for the benefit of the people of both our countries. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
Khan’s letter is the first formal proposal of bilateral dialogue since he formed the government in Pakistan last month. It came in response to PM Modi’s own letter on August 20 which conveyed that New Delhi was looking for constructive and meaningful engagement with Islamabad. The PM had noted that India was committed to peaceful neighbourly ties with Pakistan, the report quotes sources as saying. The two nations have not had any substantial dialogue since 2015 when Swaraj had travelled to Islamabad for Heart of Asia conference. The ties between the two countries had strained after terror attacks in India in 2016.
Nothing about cricket analogies in the letter

So, this is the elephant in the room.

"They can explore the way forward, especially the holding of the SAARC Council of Ministers followed by the SAARC Summit in Islamabad. The summit will offer an opportunity for you to visit Pakistan and for us to re-start the stalled dialogue process."

Dear Modi Sahab: What Imran Khan said in letter to PM

India and Pakistan have "an undeniably challenging relationship" but owe it to their citizens to solve their issues peacefully, Imran Khan told Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week.

In a letter dated September 14, Pakistan's new prime minister proposed a meeting between foreign ministers Sushma Swaraj and Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi "before the informal meeting of the SAARC Foreign Ministers at the sidelines of the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York".

"They can explore the way forward, especially the holding of the SAARC Council of Ministers followed by the SAARC Summit in Islamabad. The summit will offer an opportunity for you to visit Pakistan and for us to re-start the stalled dialogue process."

Khan said Pakistan remained ready to discuss terrorism, and that "discussions on trade, people-to-people contacts, religious tourism [and] humanitarian issues are also important".

"We...owe it to our peoples, especially the future generations, to peacefully resolve all outstanding issues, including the Jammu & Kashmir dispute, to bridge differences and achieve a mutually beneficial outcome. Siachin [sic] and Sir Creek also need close attention to move towards resolution," Khan said.

Mullah Brigade Calls On Chini Amb !

Religious affairs minister discusses treatment of Xinjiang Muslims with Chinese envoy
Image
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Noorul Haq Qadri met Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Xing on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest, chief among them the treatment of the Xinjiang Muslim community. "Pakistan's friendship with China is above and beyond any political agenda, the roots of which lie deep within the people," said Qadri. The federal minister remarked that the CPEC was a matter of national priority and expressed full confidence in it.Moving onto more urgent matters, Qadri spoke about the Muslims facing numerous restrictions in China's Xinjiang province and demanded that they be given relaxations.
Touchy subject for the Chinis. ! Surprising that the fauj okayed the Mullah meeting "tallel than mountain fliend"
"The placement of restrictions increases the chances of an extremist viewpoint growing in reaction," the minister told the Chinese ambassador, asserting that concrete steps need to be taken to weed out such a mindset and promulgate interfaith harmony.
The Chinese are not going to be swayed by this "lecture" given to them by the Mullah Minister
"The Chinese government is the bearer of Sufi and moderate thought and resolves to sort the differences between various religious groups," said the Chinese ambassador.
He invited Qadri for a visit to China which the federal minister accepted. The Chinese ambassador also provided assurances to facilitate the visit of a Pakistani religious delegation to the Xinjiang province."Exchange of viewpoints between religious scholars of both countries is vital for better interfaith relations," Xing remarked.
He said that there were 20 million Muslims living in China who enjoyed complete freedom ( This has to be a joke !) to practice their faith.
"Pakistan is an important representative of the Muslim world and we want to further strengthen Pak-China relations on an Islamic level," Xing said adding that they will take the Muslim community living in China into confidence for achieving the same.He expressed China's interest in working with Pakistan to develop an educational curriculum for the Muslim community."With Pakistan's cooperation, China desires to work for the social development of the former Fata region and Afghan migrants," he added.

Rape Averted According To This Farticle! Hope That The Sweeper Is Not From The Minority Community , Otherwise His Goose Is Surely Cooked !

Sweeper attempts to rape lady doctor in Rahim Yar Khan hospital, arrested
Sept 20, 2018
RAHIM YAR KHAN – Police have arrested a sweeper of a private sanitation company for allegedly attempting to rape a woman medical officer at the Shaikh Zayed Medical College and Hospital (SZMC&H).
The victim lady doctor was alone in a room of the emergency ward when the suspect tried to overpower her with bad intentions but he was held by the security guards when the medical officer cried for help. Later, the accused was handed over to police for further investigation. As the incident occurred, members of Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) left the working and gathered outside the principal office, raising slogans against the hospital administration.
However, the doctors called off the protest after Principal Prof Dr Mubarak Ali Chaudhry assured him to resolve the issues. The principal, however, denied the happening of any incident of rape attempt in the hospital.
Sweeper and sanitation jobs are "usually reserved" of Christians and Hindus only under Paki "law", ethos or whatever ! . No self respecting Abdul likes to do these "dirty jobs" . Nothing has been mentioned in the farticle about the name, religion etc etc of the parties involved here .

Quid Pro Quo Announced For The Recent Saudi Aid Given To Pakistan

Arabic as compulsory language: SC announces the verdict
Sept 19, 2018
ISLAMABAD - Supreme Court (SC) has announced verdict in the case of Arabic language as the compulsory subject.
SC on Wednesday while approving the Punjab government s plea challenging the verdict regarding making Arabic language as compulsory subject, dismissed the judgement of the federal sharia court.A two-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Musheer Alam conducted the hearing of the case.
During the proceedings, Prosecutor Qasim Chauhan on behalf of Punjab government while presenting his arguments said that it was not jurisdiction of Sharia Court to make a decision in this regard. However, the prosecutor further added that religious observances can be imposed but the matters cannot be imposed forcefully.
Had Iran opened the aid spigot, Pakistan would have made Persian a compulsory subject as well . The Shias would have been "delighted" to the chagrin of the Wahabi Mullahs of Pakiland

Why did the dimwit put "constructive engagement" in quotes (" ")? This selective use of quotes, under the generally accepted rules of proper grammar, implies that the author (viz., I'm the Dim) doesn't agree with the use of the term - constructive engagement (or, he has a unqualified copy writer).

Secondly, in the letter he addresses Qureshi as "Makhdoom" which implies that his FM is a "Teacher of Sunnah." No similar reverence or title given to Sushma. Not even a "ji" or "Devi" or "Raj Mata".

In case everyone forgets who India is dealing with here, Dimmy reportedly said at the felicitation ceremony after pakhanistan had won their cricket world cup in 1992, and I quote from memory, "you are praising me as if I have conquered Kashmir".

This is typical tellibunny khan double-speak. Indian leadership is forewarned.
