Pakistan can’t be run with donations, Bilawal lashes out at PM Imran Khan’s policies
Its called begging, billoo!
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the incumbent government was driving Pakistan to devastation owing to its wrong policies.
Selected Prime Minister is creating a situation which is increasing hardship with each passing day,” said Bilawal.
Contrary to its claims of breaking the begging bowl, the PTI started their government with it, Bilawal said
Foreign policy statements are being issued via social media, for God’s sake, do not make such important section a joke,” Bilawal continued.
Selected PM. I see what Billoo did there.

The way people are threatening Baki team with bombs and guns I doubt they will go back to Bakistan. Baki team will stay in Dubai for couple of month before trying to go back. Sarfaraz Ahmad will lose is captaincy.

Chinis Have Started "Cleaning Up" (Dirty) Pakistan

Chinese people win locals' hearts through cleanliness drive in Karachi park
The News International
Sept 26, 2018
KARACHI: A Chinese crowd caught attention on social media this week as it took on a cleanliness drive in a local park in DHA phase 6.
Taking to social media, a local resident reported that the park was prone to littering quite a while but the issue went unattended until one morning the group took cognizance of the issue.
A footage showing the Chinese persons take on an unprecedented move to call out the littering issue by sweeping clean the litters by themselves, also went viral on social media.
Image
CPEC Chinese "working" as "sanitation engineers"
"These people in their last round took out bags, spatula and gloves from the car and started cleaning up the place. By the time they leave the park will be litter free," the post captioned.
One more manifestation of the relentless Chinification of Paki Society ! Who knows what they will do to "time pass" life in Pakiland !
"The litter that I see in the park is an eyesore for sure. It bothers me but I’ve become immune to the filth and dirt around as everyone else. Today I saw these guys who have taken ownership of the place they are living in, unlike me."

Details On The Chinese Occupation Of Gwadar Now Emerge !

China is doing to Pakistan what East India Company did to Indian sub-continent
Rightlog.in
Aug 22, 2018
As per reports, China is building a city for 5,00,000 Chinese nationals in Pakistan at a cost of $ 150 million in Gwadar as a part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This will be the first such Chinese city in South Asia. According to a report by the Economic Times, the proposed city housing half a million Chinese will come up by 2022. It will help China to house its workforce for the financial district that it is planning to set up in the port city of Gwadar.
This city is set to be a gated zone, and only the Chinese will live in this zone. This virtually means that China is going to own a colony in Pakistan. China-Pakistan Investment Corporation has reportedly bought the 3.6 million square feet international port city and is going to start building the gated zone for the anticipated 5,00,000 strong Chinese workforce which will be located here by 2022. China already has such sub-cities which exclusively cater to the Chinese nationals in Africa and Central Asia. It is being alleged that it is now acquiring such territories in eastern Russia and northern Myanmar as well. Such exclusive zones for the Chinese have also been led to resentment among the local. It seems that our terrorist neighbour is also becoming increasingly vulnerable to dangerous Chinese influence.
So, it is very likely that Paki and sharia law will not apply in this enclave !
CPEC is the most important project as far as Pakistan’s spluttering economy is concerned. Pakistan is at the mercy of China in order to revive its economy which is in shambles. China in turn is looking at this as an opportunity to gain considerable influence in the region. Beijing has been investing in Pakistan’s pipelines, railways, highways, power plants, industrial areas and mobile networks in order to advance the geographical mid-way link for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Moreover, about 20 CPEC projects worth over $27 billion are under the process of implementation across Pakistan.
CPEC is "under process" . In the meantime, the Chinese have completely cleaned out Paki Foreign Exchange Reserves due to the CPEC maal currently being imported from China . The so-called promised returns on these projects have not kicked it yet because the projects are way, way behind schedule . But the Chinese suppliers of machinery, equipment, services provided etc etc have "demanded" payment in foreign currency and the Pakis have obliged to such an extent that their day to day imports for survival are now in jeopardy and Imran has rushed to mai bap Saudia for some financial relief. ! The Saudis, according to the Pakis , have only "promised", nothing concrete yet
China has gained unprecedented influence in Pakistan and now the setting up of an exclusive Chinese zone within Pakistan much like a colony shows how China is directly impinging upon Pakistan’s territorial sovereignty and integrity. The Chinese move of setting up its colony in Pakistani port city of Gwadar resembles to a large extent the manner in which the English came to colonise India. The Chinese exclusive zone in Gwadar could very well turn out to be Pakistan’s Fort Williams. The 70-hectares Fort had turned out to be the foundation of the English imperialism in India and the Chinese colony in Pakistan bears striking similarity to the same.
Give the benefit of the doubt to the tallel than mountain fliend
The way this gated zone is going will make Pakistanis feel like foreigners/ intruders on their very own soil also suggests the birth of apartheid in Pakistan. The Chinese are going to assert their supremacy over Pakistani locals and natives. But Pakistan will have to tolerate the Chinese excesses and even blatant discrimination. It is too weak to do anything about it. Pakistan which never kept economic and social progress in mind is trapped in a debt crisis and is totally at the mercy of Chinese. In the fiscal year 2017-18, Pakistan received $4.5 billion worth of loans from China apart from $ 1.5 billion trade facility. In the preceding year, China had extended $ 3.9 billion worth of loans from China. Therefore, in the garb of CPEC China has been doling out loans to the Islamic nation and has been crippling its sovereignty. Notwithstanding its shoddy and brief history, Pakistan is moving towards its darkest phase.
Land around Gwadar does not belong to the Chinese or the Pakis . It is rightful Baloch territory !

Austerity axe falls on CPEC, Gwadar projects - Shahbaz Rana

ISLAMABAD : The government has formally axed 455 projects from the ongoing Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), contending that they had been added to the annual development programme on political grounds.

The Ministry of Planning and Development on Tuesday presented the revised PSDP 2018-19 in a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Planning – a week after the mini-budget was presented in the National Assembly.

The document also reveals that a few projects of the flagship China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar city have also been dropped from the PSDP.

The decision to exclude unapproved projects would reduce the overall financing needs of the PSDP by Rs2 trillion to close at Rs4 trillion.

Mayor Rawalpindi invites proposals for development schemes

However, the revised PSDP document also shows some contradictions. As against the finance minister’s announcement that Rs575 billion will be provided from the budget to finance the PSDP, the planning ministry has kept the allocations at Rs675 billion in the revised PSDP.

But the planning ministry has done this with the consent of the finance ministry, according to an official of the planning ministry.

The last PML-N government had announced Rs800 billion development budget, but the new political dispensation has lowered it under its economic stabilisation policy.

“The government has dropped approximately 400 projects from the PSDP on parameters of all new unapproved projects and approved schemes where spending is either nil or up to 10% of the cost,” Development Budget Adviser Asif Sheikh of the planning ministry told the Senate panel.

But he did not share the exact number of schemes that were dropped from the PSDP.

In the original PSDP document, there were 1,284 schemes, including those funded by corporations that have now been lowered to 829, showing that 455 schemes have been dropped.

The finance minister had announced on the floor of the National Assembly that CPEC projects and education schemes would not be dropped from the PSDP.

However, Sheikh admitted before the Senate panel that at least four projects of CPEC and one dozen schemes of Gwadar had been dropped from the PSDP.

The government has retained the Rs14.2 billion project of construction of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway despite the fact that there was only 0.4% spending on the scheme. The allocation for the scheme in the new fiscal year is only Rs5 million.

The government also dropped rehabilitation of the Quetta-Dhadar section despite spending Rs700 million on it which is 10% of the total cost. It also axed another project of Kuzdar despite spending Rs500 million on it which constitutes 30% of the total cost. It also dropped the construction of Basima-Khuzdar project worth Rs19.2 billion.

The government has slashed 78 schemes of the National Highway Authority (NHA), bringing them down to only 54. The NHA’s budget allocation was cut by 12%, or Rs25 billion, to Rs185.2 billion.

However, the government added one new scheme – Projects under the Karachi Package – to the portfolio of the Ministry of Communication.

As many as 45 projects of the Higher Education Commission have been dropped from the PSDP, bringing the total number of schemes to 133.

The HEC budget was also cut by 13.5%, or Rs4.9 billion, to Rs31 billion. Finance Minister Asad Umar had assured former planning minister Ahsan Iqbal on the floor of the National Assembly that his government would not cut the HEC projects.

About 83 schemes of the interior ministry, some of them ongoing, have been cut and the government has lowered the overall number to only 29 projects.

The interior ministry’s development budget has been slashed by 48%, or Rs11.4 billion, to only Rs12.2 billion.

In violation of the criteria, the government has retained two projects of the Ministry of Law and Justice despite there was nil expenditure on them.

The construction of Supreme Court of Pakistan Branch Registry Building in Karachi has also been retained even though it has not been approved by any forum.

The government has axed 11 projects of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission in addition to reducing its budget by 6.7%, or Rs2 billion, to Rs26.7 billion.

About 12 projects of the planning ministry have been dropped and its allocation has been reduced by 56.6%, or Rs9.2 billion, to Rs7.1 billion. The CPEC Institute of Gwadar has also been axed.

The government has also dropped nine projects of the Power Division and cut its budget by Rs3 billion to Rs33.3 billion.

A Rs3.5 billion project for supply of electricity to Chitral has been cut from the PSDP. The government has dropped 20 projects of water resources and reduced its budgetary allocations from Rs79 billion to Rs78 billion.

Focus on preventive healthcare: president

Sheikh informed the standing committee that 12 schemes of Gwadar had been dropped from the PSDP, including a project for the construction of a fish harbor on water bay, expansion of the existing hospital at Gwadar, development of academic and research facilities at Gwadar and a scheme for land acquisition under the Gwadar Master Plan.

Overall, the federal ministries’ development budget has been slashed by 15.5%, or Rs68.5 billion, to Rs371.9 billion.

The corporations’ development budget has been reduced from Rs246 billion to Rs218.6 billion – a reduction of 11.2% or Rs27.6 billion.

The Capital Administration Division’s budget has been cut by Rs10 billion or 72% to Rs3.9 billion. The communication ministry’s budget has been reduced by 53%.

The federal education ministry’s budget has been cut by 27% to Rs3.2 billion, and that of the human rights ministry by 88% to only Rs35 million.

Pakistan won’t sign up for regression in the name of UNSC reform: FM - News Desk

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Wednesday that Pakistan supported a comprehensive reform of the United Nations Security Council to make it a more democratic, representative, transparent and accountable body.

“We don’t want to sign up for regression in the name of reform,” he said while addressing the ministerial meeting of the Uniting for Consensus (UfC) on Security Council reform on the sidelines of the 73rd UNGA session in New York. “Bad reform is no reform,” he remarked.

In recent years there have been discussions and specific proposals to expand the Security Council. One of the contenders is India. However, there has been no breakthrough so far given lack of consensus on the issue.

The Security Council has currently five permanent members — the US, China, Russia, Britain and France.

Trump agrees to reset Pak-US ties: FM Qureshi

Pakistan has been a strong opponent of a group of countries campaigning for permanent seats on the Security Council. Pakistan has termed the attempts contrary to principles of the 21st century of achieving democratic representation through periodic elections.

India, Brazil, Germany and Japan are the countries demanding permanent membership of the 15-member body for the past 20 years.

In today’s meeting, the foreign minister said the principled position of UfC accommodates interests of all member states — small, medium and large. “The Security Council reform cannot become an instrument to further narrow self-serving interests of a few who seek permanent seats at the expense of the wider UN membership,” he added.

Conspiracies to incite disharmony in Pak-China ties will fail: Chinese FM

Qureshi said the Security Council reform has strategic importance for member states and underpins vital national interests. The reform process must reflect all views and perspectives to achieve the wisest possible support

The UfC meeting, held at the Italian Mission, has served as a useful opportunity for an annual high-level review of the reform process, and to chart a progressive way forward.

The foreign minister said an inclusive and transparent process within the framework of Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN) is essential to this end. “Anything less would be counter-productive, for the membership knows all too well that any divisive or non-consensual approaches with a view to artificially pace the process have only served to accentuate existing differences instead of bridging gaps in respective positions,” he added.

Expressing satisfaction at the constructive role played by the UfC during the 72nd session of the General Assembly, the meeting undertook to broaden existing efforts with a view to gain further traction and support.

Shakeel Afridi Again Being Used As A Political Football By The Paki Deep State

Lawyer files petition against relocating Dr Shakil Afridi’s outside the country
PT
Sept 26, 2018
Dr Shakil Afridi is a traitor and the Pakistan government must be restrained from relocating him anywhere outside the country, a lawyer stated in a petition filed in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday, according to a local media report. The PHC bench again sought the federal government’s response on the writ petition, which urged the court to restrain the authorities concerned from transferring Dr Shakil Afridi outside the country.
The petition, filed by a senior lawyer Muhammad Khurshid Khan, ( any ties to Deep State  ) was heard by a two-judge bench of the PHC, comprising Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, and issued notices to all respondents. Terming all such moves illegal and unconstitutional, the petitioner requested the court to stop the authorities concerned in this regard.
Dr Shakil Afridi, who was serving as a surgeon in the Khyber Agency, has been languishing in jail since 2011 when he was arrested for running a fake vaccination campaign ostensibly to identify Osama bin Laden’s residence and helping the US forces to track down and kill the al-Qaida terrorist. :((
Afridi was produced before a four-member tribal court, headed by the then political agent of Khyber Agency, and was sentenced to a 33-year-long jail term in May 2012.
Afridi’s lawyer contended that Afridi had served his sentence and sought the court to immediately free the man, adding that as a free man, he had the right to live wherever he wanted.“Dr Shakil Afridi is a traitor. He worked in Pakistan as a US operative,” the petitioner alleged. “This is one of the reasons (why) the American government is pressing Pakistan for his release,” the petitioner stated.
POTUS himself has taken a personal interest in Afridi's fate . And the ISI agent, who walked into the US Embassy and supplied information to Massa about OBL , has been given a new identity by Massa and is safely ensconced somewhere in USA
Accusing the Pakistani government of striking a deal with the US government for Afridi’s release, he requested the court to restrain the government from acting on any such deal.
Subsequently, the two-judge bench directed the provincial home minister and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government through the chief secretary and the federal interior minister to submit a response by the next hearing.

Only 35 Cases Of Dengue Fever In Isloo

35 cases of dengue fever reported in Islamabad: Shehryar Afridi
The Nation
Sept 26, 2018
nterior Minister Shehryar Afridi on Wednesday informed the National Assembly that about 35 cases of dengue fever had been reported in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) this year.
The minister said this while responding to a calling attention notice regarding an outbreak of dengue fever in Islamabad Capital Territory. He said that during last year about 103 cases of dengue fever were reported in the federal capital. The minister said that peak time of the dengue fever in the country is from October to mid of November.
The German Amb Herr Kobbler recently drew the attention of Isloo authorities to the unsanitation like conditions near the German Embassy and a result of his "complaint" the area was clean up . So, he deserves some credit as well for "only" 35 cases of Dengue fever

Trump extends good wishes for PM Khan during meeting with Qureshi
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is in New York to attend the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), on Tuesday met US President Donald Trump in New York and discussed matters relating to bilateral relations.
Talking to the PTV, Qureshi said that President Trump, during an informal meeting at a luncheon in New York, extended good wishes for Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The foreign minister said he apprised the US president about the persistent need to "rephrase the historic relations between Pakistan and the US", adding that during the meeting he found the attitude of President Trump to be positive.
Qureshi said he also met US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his wife
So, who is lying? Qureshi, Yawn, or Fawad Rehman?

Lets dig a little deeper and ask googlechacha.

Just a handshake at lunch: US on Pak's claim of 'informal meet' with Trump
The episode happened on Tuesday at a luncheon on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting
US President Donald Trump had a handshake with Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi during a luncheon in New York, the White House said, but Qureshi described it as an "informal meeting" when they discussed bilateral ties.
Qureshi in an interview to the official Pakistani media described it as an "informal meeting" with Trump during which, he claimed, they discussed matters relating to bilateral relations.
Several Pakistani media outlets, including Dawn and Pakistan Tribune, reported the "informal meeting" citing the PTV report.
However, the White House said only a handshake happened between the two at the luncheon.
"It was a handshake at a luncheon with other world leaders," a National Security Council spokesperson told PTI.
Informed sources in New York tracking Trump's engagement confirmed to PTI that Trump had no meeting with Qureshi and that it was never planned.
The pool of reporters who follow Trump and report about his meetings with the world leaders did not mention the US president's meeting with Qureshi either.
The White House pool, which covered the luncheon, also did not mention Trump having a long chat with Qureshi, which would have had come to the attention of the reporters.
Ouch, that's an insult of mega size.So qureshi (and by extension PTV and yawn) lied.

Hail See-Pack

The high price of producing electricity with coal
It is a hot and humid day and the electricity is out in the small village of Chak 76-5R. Local lambardar, Tariq Tufail, is sitting on a charpoy outside his house surrounded by other villagers. They are using Chinese handheld fans to cool themselves. The irony is that the village is located under the shadow of a newly set-up coal power plant owned by a Chinese firm, Huaneng Shandong Ruyi.
Chak 76-5R is part of Sahiwal district where canal-irrigated farming is the mainstay of the local economy. Many farmers in the village, however, had to give up their farmland to make way for the power plant.

“It was coercion,” claims Tufail as he recalls the process of land acquisition. Farmers, he says, were “blackmailed” into giving up their land. “The government officials came one night, put the resisting villagers in a van and took them to a police station where anti-terrorism cases were registered against them,” he alleges. “Some of them are still fighting those cases in court.” also providing job security to CJI Milard Mian Saqib Nisar
During the plant’s construction there were plenty of jobs for local young men to work as labourers. Once the plant became functional, their services were no longer needed since running it required specialised and skilled labour that the villagers could not offer. :(( Being done by Labour imported (externed) from China
Then there came an additional worry: the water table in the area started falling due to its usage in the plant’s operations. The villagers claim water has receded by about 15 feet since construction for the plant began two years ago. :P Hain.. are they sure it is not the Evil baniyas across the border who are responsible
Syed Akhtar Ali, a former member of the Planning Commission of Pakistan, says the investment required to set up a power plant is very high — to the tune of two billion US dollars. Since most Pakistani investors do not have this kind of financial pull, the government announced that it will exempt foreign investment in electricity generation from various taxes. The investors were also allowed to bring the required machinery into Pakistan at just five per cent import tax. To make the investment opportunities more attractive, the government guaranteed that it will pay the power producers as per their capacity rather than actual generation of electricity by them.A private power producer will, thus, get paid even if it produces no electricity at all :rotfl: where do they teach such brilliant economics?

Terror camp hit by surgical strike active again - Rohan Dua

SRINAGAR: While Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was making peace overtures to New Delhi, terror groups backed by his country’s army were setting up eight new launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Approximately 250 terrorists are waiting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmirfrom 27 launch pads in PoK, top intelligence sources said.

Among the eight new launch pads are those in Lipa Valley, one of the two strategic locations which was destroyed by Indian Army surgical strikes during its in September 2016, days after the terror attack at Uri in Kashmir.

India, after having warmed up to the idea of holding talks with Pakistan at the sidelines of the UNGA meeting in New York this week, cancelled the event after the killing of three cops by Hizbul Mujahideen in Kashmir last week.

Kashmir has been wracked by violence since the killing of Hizbul Burhan Wani commander by Indian security forces in an encounter in July 2016. Though stone-pelting and mob violence in Kashmir has been controlled considerably in the last one year, the rise in threats by Pakistan-sponsored terror groups and targeted killings of J&K policemen have coincided with the increase in infiltration attempts and ceasefire violations along the LoC and the international border.

Before Wani was killed, there were only 14 functional launch pads in PoK with just 160 terrorists camping there. But soon after Wani’s elimination, an immediate rise in terror training activity was noted across the LoC. From just 160 terrorists, their number went up to around 190 to 230 terrorists with an addition of five more terror camps, making it 19, sources said. Eight more have been added since Imran's election as PM.

Of the 27 terror launch pads which are operational, Lashkar-e-Taiba is concentrated in Lipa, Chakothi, Bararkot, Shardi, Jura and Bararkot areas while Hizbul Mujahideen’s camps are set up in the Forward Kahuta area of PoK.

Pakistan, sources said, has also re-established the launch pad at Lipa Valley, one of the two strategic locations where India had conducted a surgical strike in September 2016. However, the launch pad opposite the other surgical strike location, Bimbhar Gali, has not resurfaced. "The strength at Hajipur and Forward Kahuta is now negligible," said a senior intelligence officer.

The number of Lashkar-e-Taiba members who are preparing to enter India at Lipa, Chananian, Mandaukali and Naukot now stands at 25-30, according to details accessed by TOI. These camps stand right opposite India's Nowgam sector, which is between Uri and Kupwara.

"Approximately 250 terrorists are waiting to infiltrate into India. The geographical importance of these infiltration points is the breathing time needed by these militants and the support from over ground workers in Handwara and Hafrooda forest cover. From there, their intent is to move to South Kashmir," said an intelligence officer.

Intelligence sleuths said that the recent surge in terror activities in Gurez, Jajarkotli, Sopore, and Bandipora in Kashmir is meant to destabilise the state ahead of panchayat elections
and may escalate the tension between the two countries.

Security forces are now planning to maintain a strong anti-infiltration posture along the LoC, an official source said.

Pakistan’s economic growth likely to slow down to 4.8% - Shahbaz Rana

ISLAMABAD: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has cut its economic growth forecast for Pakistan to only 4.8% and increased the inflation estimate to 6.5% while urging the new government to take immediate corrective measures to take pressure off the budget and external account.

In its flagship Asian Development Outlook Update, the Manila-based lending agency also increased Pakistan’s current account deficit projection from 4.5% to 5% of gross domestic product (GDP).

The ADB’s assessment points to the emergence of stagflation that the country had left behind five years ago. The lender expected a further increase in interest rate and currency depreciation.

The ADB released its fresh assessment on the eve of a staff-level visit of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Islamabad. The IMF is going to recommend some harsh steps that are necessary to address macroeconomic challenges.

Pakistan in contact with ADB for technical assistance

The fate of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), currency weakness, hike in interest rate and sale of loss-making public sector enterprises are expected to be on top of the to-do list of the IMF.

In a veiled reference to CPEC debt obligations, the ADB underlined that Pakistan’s macroeconomic resilience and higher growth, which is more sustainable and inclusive, critically depends on vigilance in ensuring that new external liabilities are phased in responsibly.

The bank cut its economic growth projection for Pakistan to 4.8%, suggesting a deceleration for the first time in six years. Pakistan has set the GDP growth target at 6.2%, which the new government has not yet revised downwards.

The ADB increased its inflation forecast from 4.8% to 6.5% due to adverse impact of currency depreciation and tax measures announced in the mini-budget last week.

Image

Challenges to maintaining the growth momentum are tighter monetary and fiscal policies to contain domestic demand, currency depreciation and tension in the global trade environment, said the ADB.

It said that the newly elected government urgently needs to address the large budget and current account deficits, rising debt obligations and falling foreign exchange reserves.

It also accounted for the impact of the mini-budget and its suggestion to take more urgent measures indicate that the lender is not satisfied with the short-term measures announced by the government.

The ADB stated that even the 4.8% economic growth would hinge on mobilisation of substantial external financing for orderly reform to reduce the large external and domestic imbalances. Such resources may be acquired from bilateral and multilateral sources, the diaspora and international capital markets, it added.

ADB says ‘no need to panic’ over Pakistan’s economy

It cautioned that the key challenges are to adopt right reforms and achieve a good outcome to sustain public support.

The ADB also said the State Bank of Pakistan may further raise the interest rate as part of monetary tightening. The central bank will announce the new monetary policy on coming Saturday.

Further monetary tightening, strong fiscal discipline and decisive efforts to contain losses suffered by public sector enterprises would help address external imbalances and fiscal risks, said the ADB.

It noted that Pakistan has already increased interest rate by 1.75% to 7.5% and let the currency depreciate by 11.2% since January this year. The 1.75% increase in interest rate was the highest in Asia.

In the case of depreciation, India was the only country whose currency has lost over 12% of its valule which is more than Pakistan’s 11%. US$ 1 = INDIA RS. 72.6505 = TERRORISTAN RS. 125.50 i.e ONE I.R. = T.R. 1.75

In 2018, Pakistan’s economy will be the sixth fastest growing economy among eight South Asian peers. The ADB’s forecast shows that only Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will be growing at a pace slower than Pakistan’s in the year.

Pakistan remains undecided on cancelling $400m loan from ADB

Three regional economies – India, Bangladesh and Bhutan – are projected to grow more than 7%. Nepal and the Maldives are also expected to grow at higher than Pakistan’s growth rate.

Pakistan’s economic outlook is clouded by a large budget deficit, a deteriorating current account deficit and falling foreign exchange reserves, observed the ADB.

The ADB said water shortages in some areas are likely to restrain agricultural production in this fiscal year. Growth in manufacturing and services will likely be affected by fiscal and monetary tightening, it added.

On top of dealing with macroeconomic imbalances, the new government has to undertake tariff reforms to contain rapidly rising intercompany arrears in the energy sector, called circular debt, which exceeds Rs1.4 trillion or 5% of GDP.

The government on Tuesday deferred up to 61% increase in electricity prices. Gas prices have already risen by up to 143%.

The ADB underlined that the new government has presented supplementary budget proposals with the objective of reducing development expenditure, introducing regulatory duties on selected luxury items to generate additional revenue and reversing earlier tax cut.

But it said the focus over the medium-term must be to further enhance the revenue base to enable durable expansion in funding for social welfare and infrastructure that is necessary to lift growth.

Pakis Eat Crow Once Again ! The Saudis And The Chinese Disappoint Them With Empty Promises ! It Is IMF- Begging Bowl - Once Again

Bailout in the Balance as Pakistan Meets With IMF Officials
Bloomberg News
Fasih Mangi and Kamran Haider
Sept 27, 2018
Pakistan’s government will meet with International Monetary Fund officials on Thursday with a potential bailout looking increasingly likely, according to a member of the country’s Economic Advisory Council.
If, this is believable than Imran's trip to Saudia two weeks ago was only "empty Saudi promises" ( that is how the Saudis operate, at least IMO !) . They might throw some crumbs to the First Islami Atomi Takat by selling them "concessional oil" !
An IMF visiting delegation will sit down with Pakistani officials at 11 a.m. in Islamabad, according to the finance ministry. While the talks are part of routine Article IV discussions, Pakistan’s need for external funding and its widening current-account and fiscal deficits will likely loom over the meeting.
“Pakistan’s economy has never been in such a bad shape,” Ashfaque Hasan Khan, an economic adviser to the government and the dean at the business school of Islamabad’s National University of Sciences and Technology, told Bloomberg. Khan said the lack of drastic changes or spending cuts in a revised budget presented this month suggested “perhaps the government has decided to go to the IMF.”
And the IMF will extract their pound of flesh no doubt : full disclosure of CPEC agreements, privatization of ( white elephants like) PIA , increase in water and electricity rates, robust tax collection methods etc etc !
So far, Prime Minister Imran Khan has signaled reluctance to seek aid from the IMF, which may come with considerable constraints. After Khan’s July election victory, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he would oppose the use of IMF funds to pay off billions of dollars of opaque Chinese loans that Pakistan has taken on. The former cricket star has been trying to drum up cash from friendly countries -- including China and Saudi Arabia -- as well as making appeals to its diaspora as he seeks to roll out an“Islamic welfare state.” Islamic Farewell State
The government has deep problems to fix. Less than 1 percent of the nation’s more than 200 million people file tax returns, foreign-currency reserves have plunged by a third this year to below $10 billion, the current-account deficit stands at more than 5 percent of gross domestic product and the rupee is down 12 percent against the dollar this year. It’s a familiar pattern for South Asia’s second-largest economy, which has taken 12 IMF loans since the late 1980s.
Not to speak of the political problems: dispute with India, Iran and Afghanistan. Alienation of non -Pakjabi sections of the populace, etc etc !
The economic adviser said the government and IMF will probably address the external gap and size of a possible bailout package size in this week’s meetings, though a final decision is unlikely to be taken, he said. Officials at the IMF in Islamabad declined to comment, while Noor Ahmed, a spokesman for the finance ministry, said “all options are on the table, nothing has been ruled out.”
The IMF meetings come ahead of a central bank meeting on Saturday, where the State Bank of Pakistan’s Monetary Policy Committee is expected to raise interest rates by 50 basis points to 8 percent, according to a median estimate of 13 economists in an ongoing Bloomberg survey.

Ganja's "Beloved Buffaloes" Picked Up In Auction By One Of His Ardent Admirers

In love of Nawaz Sharif, bidder buys PM House buffalo at Rs 3,85,000
Sept 27, 2018
ISLAMABAD . A citizen from Islamabad bought one of the buffaloes put up for auction by the prime minister house on Thursday at an exorbitant price. Qalab Abbas, who belongs to the Jhangi Syedan area of the capital, successfully won the bid at Rs 3,85,000 to purchase the buffalo and when asked why he splashed so much money for the purchase, the bidder came up with an interesting reason.‘I have purchased the buffalo at this price as a memorial of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif,’ said Abbas.
As many as 8 Nili-Ravi buffaloes were put up for auction by the PM House as part of the austerity drive promised by the incumbent premier Imran Khan. Two more buffaloes were handed over to the successful bidders for price Rs 3,00,000 and Rs 3,30,000 respectively; interestingly, all three of the bidders are Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz loyalists.
Another buyer Haji Imdad Ali told private media that he had bought the buffaloe out of affection for his leader Nawaz Sharif.I will keep these animals at my farmhouse and then gift it to Nawaz Sharif, he said.
The auctioning is being carried out in the PM House and the money collected through the process would be deposited in the national exchequer. The auctioning of buffaloes comes on the heels of auctioning of ultra-luxury vehicles of the PM House that were handed over to the successful bidders on September 17th. As much as Rs 200 million was reportedly raised in the first phase.
With the sale of these animals, there is no need to approach the IMF or the Saudis with a "begging bowl"

When The Heat Dies Down, Asad Will Accommodate His Brother, Zubair

Asad Umar denies favour to brother Zubair
The News International
Sept 27, 2018
ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Asad Umar rejected a summary forwarded to him by the Cabinet Division for relaxation of rules, allowing former Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair to receive pension, Daily Jang reported Thursday.
Of course , the "rejection" is good for public perception ( we do not do special favours blah blah blah !)
According to details, a summary was prepared to be presented before Prime Minister Imran Khan for approval of ex-governor Zubair's pension release against rules by relaxing the set terms and conditions for the provision.
When the "current heat subsides" (in the winter months! ) a way will be found- legal or otherwise - to "accommodate" the elder Umer . After all, blood is thicker than water
Under the rules, a governor is only eligible to receive pension if he has served in the same capacity for at least two years but Zubair, who is also brother of the finance minister, remained in the office for just 18 months from Feb 02, 2017 to Aug 03, 2018, thus ineligible for the facility.
In Pakistan rules are meant to be broken !
However, the concerned official prepared a favourable proposal citing examples from the past in this regard when during Pervaz Musharraf and Pakistan Peoples' Party regimes a few governors were facilitated, among them was former Punjab governor Latif Khosa. The Cabinet Divison forwarded the summary through Finance Ministry where it was put before Asad Umar for approval but he rejected the summary right away (Optics my friend, nothing but optics  ) and sent it to the PM with his dissenting note.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf vows to prefer merit over nepotism, however, a few important tasks have been assigned to Imran Khan’s friends.
British national Syed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari, commonly known as Zulfi Bukhari, is the latest induction in Imran Khan’s official team, while some other friends have already been given cabinet berths, either at the center or in Punjab.
Jang Group is one of the two media houses in the cross hair of the Deep State !
Khan's friend and British-Pakistani entrepreneur Aneel Musarrat recently made headlines when he was allowed to attend a cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Monday. Musarrat subsequently told The News that he would provide free advice to PM Imran Khan on his plans to build five million low-cost homes, but would not take up any formal role in the cabinet.

Kalat: The Khanate of Kalat was a princely state that existed from 1666 to 1955 in the centre of the modern-day province of Balochistan, Pakistan. ...It was briefly independent from August 1947 till March 1948, when its aging Khan, falling for djinnah's subterfuge and guile, reluctantly acceded his state to the new Dominion of Pakistan. It remained a princely state of Pakistan until 1955, when it was forcibly and illegally incorporated into the country. Hundreds of thousands of Baloch have vanished or perished in their fight for freedom since then.

Sarfraz loses sleep after Pakistan's abject Asia Cup showing
:((
Disappointed Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has revealed he lost sleep for six days during his team´s flop at the Asia Cup.
Sarfraz said the pressure of captaincy and not scoring runs led to some disturbed nights.
Pakistani captains, whoever they are, always have pressure. (Try a stool softener, pal)
The truth is that if I say I haven´t slept for the last six nights nobody will believe me
I will say again we don´t need to press the panic button.
My performance isn´t good so the team lost. The team lost because of me.
Now, if only Herr Genraile AAK Niazi had owned up like the paki kaptaan, that would have been something.

Does it mean that they will grow by 11.3% and their real growth rate will be 4.8%, or is 4.8% their nominal growth rate with negative real growth once inflation is factored in?

Bart S Ji :

The real economic growth rate, also referred to as the growth rate of real GDP, is a more useful measure than the nominal GDP growth rate because it considers the effect of inflation on economic data.

I agree, but my doubt is about what their real growth rate is? Is it 4.8%? Or was the nominal figure?

If that is indeed their real growth rate, are they really growing at over 10% nominally?

Of course, their increase in population negates most of their growth anyway.

anupmisra Ji : Your Post 27 Sep 2018 17:31 stimulates me to further exertions :-

Asia Cup 2018: Shoaib Malik calls India best side in the world, urges Pakistani teammates to learn from rivals

Image
Malik is Pakistan's senior-most player in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018

The Pakistan cricket team headed into the Asia Cup 2018 as favourites but have found themselves under the scanner after two back to defeat at the hands of arch-rivals India. The Sarfraz Ahmed-led side squared off their campaign on a winning note with a thumping victory over Hong Kong before slumping to a crushing 8 wickets defeat against Rohit Sharma's men. Pakistan suffered another comprehensive defeat at the hands of India in the Super Four encounter.

After losing two back to back encounters against India, veteran Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik has adviced his teammates to learn from Indian players and called India the best side in world cricket currently. Malik said that Pakistan needs to learn from India's system and the players are developed in the country.

"When you are in a building process, you need time. It's not a time to panic and change players. If you change a lot of players, newcomers will also need time. We have to see India's system, how they develop their players. They are the best side in the world," Malik said. "You have to give confidence to the players that the management, the captain and selection committee have picked," he added.

Image

Pakistan's highly-rated bowling attack has been far from impressive so far in the tournament with the likes of Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali failing to trouble batsmen. In the two matches against India, Amir finished wicketless while the Pakistani bowlers could scalp only two wickets. Malik suggested that the Pakistan bowlers should learn from how Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah are bowling in the tournament.

"We need to learn from how Bumrah and Bhuvi are bowling. The Indian team has a lot of very experienced players. Our boys can only learn from players who have played so many matches and also from their young players. It's not like someone with 200 matches cannot learn from those who have played 5-10 matches. They can learn from anyone," Malik said.

Pakistan after losing their super four tie against India defeated Afghanistan to remain alive in the competition. If they manage to sail past Bangladesh in the Super Four encounter, they will meet India in the final of the Asia Cup 2018.

Right on both counts.

11.3% nominal growth which takes into account value of their currency and inflation. After adjusting for inflation of 6.5% - assuming that's correct (but not including currency fluctuations because that's hard to predict), the year on year actual GDP will only grow by 4.8%. If the currency value falls or rises during the next 12 months, the Y-o-Y GDP growth rate will need to adjusted. However, most economic projections are made on accrual (forward looking) basis. That's why nations keep adjusting the base year to stick with the planned growth rate and also to look good in front of lenders.

Second point you made is equally important. If their population increases by 5M +/- (viz, if I'm the Dim gives citizenships to BDs and Afghans), the GDP per capita will fall without any changes to the actual GDP (clever pakis have always included all-value-added trade by the afghans and BDs in their GDP but not in their population counts). However, we know that the same applies to Gilgit Baltistan and PoK populations as well. Their numbers are never included but their value added trade is included. Also recall that their last census was a fraud exercise and may areas were not included. Their actual population count is closer to 220 million.

Does this help?

Just my 2.2 cents (inflation adjusted).
