Elections were managed to secure win for one party: Zubair

Outgoing Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair Umar said that elections were managed to ensure victory for one particular party.
No one was expecting that this level of rigging would be carried out in the counting process,” alleged Zubair, who stepped down as the governor of Sindh on Friday.
He said the ECP should be ashamed. He accused them of dictating what the results should be.

Anupmisra-ji:
For this, there is no one to blame but Ganja and his "clever brother" Showbaaz Sharif. They were the incubators of these Jihadis . It is only with the help of these Jihadis , that Ganja's brother was able to "save" his provincial throne as CM of Pakjab. At that time, they were very thick ( joined at hips, if one may say !) with the Deep State. So no crying over spilled milk

After The Initial Euphoria, Imran Khan May Find Hard To Implement His Agenda Of "New Pakistan"

Crusader Khan Faces Daunting Task To Build 'New Pakistan'
Radio Free Europe
Radio Liberty
July 27, 2018

"Khan's hands will be tied by the military," says Ayesha Siddiqa, a Pakistani military analyst and author. "But he is also someone who does not have a global vision. His focus will be on domestic issues."Analysts say Khan faces a conundrum on the foreign policy front: He will bring little change if he defers to the army, but if he pursues his own agenda he will not last long in office."The question is whether Khan, who is proud and stubborn, can suppress his tendencies to push back, in the interest of maintaining power. Or, whether his strong personality will get the best of him and he does try to blaze an independent trail on foreign policy," says Kugelman."If he does try to take an independent path, civilian-military relations could face a new crisis and his job could be undercut, if not outright imperiled," he adds.

-Few things:
- He has no choice but to "go begging" to IMF to bail Pakistan out. The IMF may extract a heavy price re. CPEC full disclosure terms. Chinis may protest !
- India will not "buy in" with his offer of "peace and friendship", unless concrete action is shown that cross border terrorism is drastically reduced . Deep State of course, will never allow this to happen !
- Afghanistan will soon realize that "Imran is the same old wine in a new bottle"
- Imran has to ensure - by hook or by crook - that Pakjab is not provincially governed by Ganja's Party
- If Ganja "goes under" soon, Imran's position as PM, will be very shaky indeed .

ISI "Runs For Cover" To Protect Its Honour And Dignity ( AKA Echendee)

ISI requests IHC to expunge Justice Siddiqui’s order

ISLAMABAD: The country’s premier  intelligence agency has requested the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to expunge several paragraphs from an order of its judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui who last week asked the army chief and the top spymaster to stop meddling in affairs of other departments.
The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) through the Ministry of Defence secretary and the Federation through the Ministry of Interior on Friday approached the IHC against Justice Siddiqui’s July 18 order.
Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Khawaja Imtiaz Ahmed filed the appeal ( Another "My Laard", at the service of Deep State !) that said a single-judge bench while hearing a habeas corpus petition unnecessarily dragged the ISI in the controversy.
The name of the ( premier) ISI will not be allowed to be sullied under any circumstances !
In a written order pertaining to a missing person’s case, Justice Siddiqui had said abduction of people from different walks of life had become a routine in Islamabad but instead of performing their statutory duty the police came up with a stereotyped stance that persons might have disappeared on their own. Public memory is short, but Siddiqui himself has made such an assertion in the past ( when he was on "good terms" with ISI ) :D
The judge had said such statements were always made in those cases in which allegations were levelled against the intelligence agencies, adding that it was a sorry state of affairs and a challenge to the state. Justice Siddiqui had also claimed that even benches were constituted and cases were marked to different judges on the direction of such elements.
He is an "insider" , so he know what he is talking about
“Everyone knows how proceedings are manipulated, from where strings are pulled and when power wielded and manoeuvred to achieve desired results. To remain like a silent spectator is against the oath made by every judge provided by the Constitution,” he had said.
In the intra-court appeal (ICA), the DAG said Justice Siddiqui’s remarks are “not only unsubstantiated and unfounded but also direct attack/allegation on the appellants, the institution of Pak Army, judiciary” and specifically the IHC’s chief justice and other judges.
He stated that the abducted man did not accuse any law enforcement agency yet the judge made comments in his written order. “The impugned order is based upon mala fide and goes beyond the scope of justice and puts allegation on the appellants in a whimsical manner without substance,” he said.He said the impugned order was circulated through media and social media and “caused serious damage to the reputation of its premier institutions ( again the "ad nauseam"of premier institution!) of armed forces, intelligence agencies and the judiciary.”
He stated that the abducted man did not accuse any law enforcement agency yet the judge made comments in his written order. “The impugned order is based upon mala fide and goes beyond the scope of justice and puts allegation on the appellants in a whimsical manner without substance,” he said. :D One of those rare occasions, when ISI is having a bad day :D
He said the impugned order was circulated through media and social media and “caused serious damage to the reputation of its premier institutions of armed forces, intelligence agencies and the judiciary.”
The DAG requested the court to set aside relevant paras of the impugned order, declare that no abduction was carried out by any law enforcement agency and respondents’ petition be dismissed with cost.
Seems like the "Siddiqui problem" is not going to go away quietly :D

Paki "Horse-Trading" Begins In Earnest To Install Immy On PM Ghaddi

Imran still striving to get required numbers to form govt

ISLAMABAD: Though the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly after the July 25 elections and its leaders have been claiming that they will not need support of any other party, the final preliminary results issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday show that the party is still short of numbers to form its government on its own.
On the other hand, two other major parties — the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) — are expected to meet in a couple of days to devise a joint strategy in a bid to give a tough time to the PTI in parliament.
According to TV reports, senior PPP leader Syed Khursheed Shah will meet PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Sunday (today).
They should have met in Dubai or London. Away from the prying eyes and ears of the "Premier Institution" of Pakiland
The electronic media throughout the day on Saturday kept on mentioning names of possible candidates for key government offices and possible members of the federal cabinet. But sources in the PTI told Dawn that no names were discussed in meetings held in Banigala as the party was still busy in making calculations. ( and offering bribes etc to "potentials defectors" )
When contacted, the PTI’s Shafqat Mehmood claimed that no formal meeting had taken place in Banigala and that they (PTI leaders) had a general discussion on the challenges... chai, biskoot, samosas served by the Peerni or is she still in Pakpattan in a purdah
Mr Mehmood also denied reports that his party had nominated him for the office of the NA speaker. The Kaptaan, not the Party will decide, after an OK by the Deep State !
According to the complete preliminary results announced by the ECP, the PTI has obtained 115 general seats — 12 short of a simple majority — while the PML-N and PPP have won 64 and 43 seats, respectively.
The PTI leaders who have won more than one seat will have to vacate additional seats as the law allows an individual to retain only one seat. PTI chairman Imran Khan has won five seats ( on merit ?) and he will have to vacate four seats.
It was after these calculations that the PTI leadership has now decided to reach out to other smaller groups and independents since the party has already declared that it will not join hands with the PPP and the PML-N.Sources said that former secretary general of the PTI Jahangir Tareen had established contacts with independents and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) which has won six seats. There are 13 independents who have won the NA seats.
Not to worry, Imran will get the required majority by ISI arm twisting if needed , Imran will fulfill his life long ambition to become Paki PM, and Imran will bask in glory. Unless Ganja Sharif suddenly "goes upstairs" before Inauguration and all hell will break loose
Though the PPP and the PML-N have also rejected the elections results, sources in the two parties told Dawn that they would not support the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA)’s call for boycotting the oath-taking session of the National Assembly.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Saturday formed a committee to engage with political parties to discuss the way forward in the post-poll scenario. According to an official announcement, members of the committee are Yousuf Raza Gillani, Syed Khursheed Shah, Sherry Rehman, Farhatullah Babar, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Syed Naveed Qamar. The sources said contact had been established between the PPP and the PML-N and the leaders of the two sides were expected to hold a meeting in a few days.
August 14 is the magic date for Imran and PTI . PIMS ( Pakiland Institute Of Medical Sciences ) ( not PIMP !) Doctors have been given strict orders to ensure that Nawaz is kept alive by hook or by crook , at least till that day, preparations are afoot, even as of now to "welcome" Jemima, Suleiman, Kasim and Tyron White and possibly Zac Goldsmith ( Jemima's brother and a solid supporter of Imran !) to Bani Gala .

I think, looking at the overall evidence, that the PA did not go all out to install IK. This is a departure from earlier times.

The circumstantial evidence I am basing my conclusion upon is the fact that IK did not get a simple majority (which one would have thought the PA would have ensured otherwise).

There were two objectives in front of the PA: to rout PML-N and ensure that NS never returned to power; to get a more pliant IK installed as PM.

They went all out for the former through legal means and a compliant judiciary. Most of the blame falls on the judiciary. They also ensured that some PML-N members switched sides through threats & blandishments which would be hard to prove. This led to IK making substantial gains in Pakjab as a corollary.

As for IK, PA did not want to go the whole hog, it appears. That is why he is left to seek coalition partners to form a government, which of course, the PA would help under cover. This way, the PA probably thought that they could not be directly accused of involvement in the poll results. Also, PA might have felt that a coalition could be a better way to maintain a tight leash on IK without having to lean on IK every time the PA wanted something done its way; it can manipulate the small parties or the independents. Plausible deniability.

India intensifies contact with PTI as Imran moves to form govt - ToI
After providing a seal of approval to Pakistan elections, India has intensified contacts with Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the run-up to government formation.

The Indian mission remains in touch with senior PTI leaders who are likely to play an important role in the new government, according to sources.

While the PTI campaign was not completely devoid of anti-India rhetoric, the Indian side understands that this had more to do with the rough and tumble of Pakistan politics than any antipathy for India. {Ohh. . . really? } Khan's party too has been appreciative of the fact that the Indian side, contrary to the popular perception in Pakistan that the Narendra Modi government wanted Nawaz Sharif's party to return to power, remained equidistant from all parties.

"They know that the Indian mission was as much in touch with PTI as with PML-N or even with PPP," said a source.

Indian officials have not ruled out the possibility of PM Modi making a congratulatory phone call, like Afghan Prez Ashraf Ghani did Sunday, to Khan in the next few days as a part of the reachout.

India closely followed Ghani's telephonic conversation with Khan in which, as the Afghan president announced on Twitter, both leaders agreed to overcome the past and to lay a new foundation "for a prosperous political, social and economic future" of both countries.

Just as a fighter aircraft is deliberately built to be in a state of instability https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relaxed_stability#Intentional_instability so that its flight can be controlled with the flick of the joystick, Pakfauj has ensured that the Pak govt is also always unstable so that it stays quickly and obediently responsive to their small control inputs.

why are so many dumb Indians, with unseemly haste, running to certify these dodgy elections as being fair and above board??

maybe they cannot wait to eagerly clamber back on to the track thoo free loading gravy train once again after missing out on their quota of expensive single malts, caviar and tandoori filled ISI funded seminars in luxurious hotels for so long.

Some erstwhile and long forgotten cricketers have also raised their heads, seeking to climb out of the darkness of the anonymity that they had descended into.

NEWS ANALYSIS
With Imran Khan as New Leader, Pakistan Could Reshape Its Image

By Jeffrey Gettleman, July 29, 2018
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — For a nation often in the news for all the wrong reasons — suicide bombings, horrific school massacres — Pakistan has reached a turning point that could possibly alter its dysfunctional trajectory.
Imran Khan, the cricket star and A-list celebrity whose political party won this past week’s elections, could use his fame and charisma to reset Pakistan’s troubled relations with the West. Mr. Khan also may move Pakistan much closer to the expanding sphere of China, a neighbor he has praised conspicuously as a role model. Or Mr. Khan could simply follow the same path as many Pakistani leaders before him, supporting harsh Islamic laws and showing sympathy for militant groups, policies that have kept Pakistan isolated for years.
Still, Mr. Khan brings something new: more star power and mystique than any recent Pakistani leader and perhaps a better chance to change the country’s narrative, even though the election was widely considered tainted.
“Relatively few Pakistani leaders have won over the West,” said Michael Kugelman, deputy director for the South Asia Program at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington. “But Khan is familiar with operating in the international world. He already has strong name recognition. He doesn’t need to be introduced.” Oxford-educated and once married to a wealthy British woman, Mr. Khan is clearly comfortable in the highest circles of Western power brokers. He was close friends with Princess Diana. (Shortly before she died, Mr. Khan has said, he was trying to help her find a new husband.) Still, the old Mr. Khan is not necessarily the new Mr. Khan. In recent years, he has undergone a complex metamorphosis, distancing himself from his days as a star athlete and ladies’ man. He now expresses sympathy for the Taliban and for Pakistan’s harsh blasphemy laws, which include the death penalty, positions that play well domestically.
“He’s dangerously accommodating of extremists, and anyone who knows him knows this,” said C. Christine Fair, a political scientist at Georgetown University.
The dust has hardly settled from the election, which was marred by allegations of rigging and copious evidence that Pakistan’s military interfered to help Mr. Khan win. Mr. Khan’s party trounced the others, but as of Sunday remained short of a majority in Parliament.
To become prime minister, he needs to win over independent candidates and smaller parties to build a coalition. Most analysts believe he will succeed, although it is not a sure thing.
In many ways, Pakistan is a pivotal nation. It is the world’s sixth-most populous country, with 200 million people. It is also nuclear-armed and strategically located next to India, China, Iran and Afghanistan. For decades it has been cast in turmoil by suicide bombers, extremist groups and a nefarious spy agency that helped create the Taliban and actively supported Al Qaeda while ostensibly serving as an ally to the United States.

That Broken Record About 1000 Billion Trees Being Played Again By PM- In Waiting Imran Khan !

Imran Khan says Pakistan will plant 10 billion trees
By Megan Darby
July 27, 2018

Imran Khan is aiming to plant 10 billion trees in five years as prime minister of Pakistan. :((
It is a scaling up of the “billion tree tsunami” his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, restoring 350,000 hectares of forest. Many Paki politicians and independent observers ( in the know ) have already casted doubt on this earlier (tall ) claim about planting 1 billion trees .! Also, there were rumours about members of PTI Govt in KP, making "money" out of this bonanza. !
The cricketer-turned-politician claimed election victory on Thursday, although PTI is expected to rely on coalition partners to govern. While his campaign focused on anti-corruption, it also promised several environmental initiatives.
Not sure, if the Kaptaan is as sincere about the environment , as he is about his "beloved dogs", Motu and Sheru !
Malik Amin Aslam, who drafted the climate change section of the PTI manifesto and is tipped as environment minister, told Climate Home News green growth was key. Credit where credit is due .
“PTI is the one party which has taken a bold initiative on the green platform,” he said. “Pakistan is facing the brunt of climate change, so I think climate preparation, making sure our development is totally climate compatible, our infrastructure is resilient to climate shocks, is going to be very high priority.”
Citing a desire to reduce reliance on imports, it also promotes increased use of domestic coal reserves from Thar province. Much of the investment in coal has come from China, which is described as a “golden opportunity” for Pakistan.
This is a BS example of environmental friendly policies, IMO. While the whole world is moving to renewable and greener sources of energy (solar and wind) Pakis are regressing back to dirty sources like coal with polluting effects !
Aslam said these projects were already in progress and PTI’s focus would be to make sure they complied with environmental standards, while developing Pakistan’s hydro, wind and solar resources.
Money talks, bullshit walks !
Khan also spoke about the impact climate change was already having on Pakistan and called industrialised nations to account for their historic pollution.
“Rich countries should not only assist Pakistan in mitigation and adaptation efforts but also compensate us for the tremendous economic losses we face each year.”
The "proud and arrogant" Kaptaan literally "begging" for dallars . Incredible !!
Ali Tauqeer Sheik, chief executive of Islamabad-based thinktank Lead Pakistan, urged the new government to do more to protect poor and marginalised people from the impacts of climate change.
“His emphasis on forestry is a very encouraging one – we hope that the area under forest increases,” said Sheik. But he added: “Mr Imran Khan’s [acceptance] speech did not even mention the climate challenge and climate vulnerability… The most important thing for a developing country that is as vulnerable as Pakistan is is to first have a clear vision.”
The "acceptance speech" ALSO, did not mention anything about "India stealing Pakistan's water"

CNN reporter who interviewed Reham Khan says she received "torrent of abuse" for it
July 30, 2018

If Hannah Vaughan Jones wasn't previously aware of just how much PTI supporters dislike Reham Khan, she sure is now.The CNN International reporter, who interviewed Reham recently has tweeted about how she has been on the receiving end of a "torrent of abuse for it; she added that Khan was invited onto the show for her "unique insight into Imran Khan" and because she "is engaged/articulate about Pakistan", adding "Shame on those who would silence free speech w/hatred & disgusting language."

So much so for Imran's Naya Pakistan, where ( hopefully) women were supposed to get izzaat . Another example of "old wine sherbet in a new bottle"

A veiled first lady with spiritual, political skills

With Imran Khan as its premier, Pakistan is going to have a unique international honour of having a veiled Bushra Wattoo-Khan as its First Lady, keeping the Islamic tradition of observing purdah and not bowing to the pressures of the modern times.
A UK-based religious scholar Mufti Masod Alam, OBE (Order of British Empire), called me the other day to appreciate Bushra Khan keeping her religion and spiritual tradition much above the worldly power games.
clairvoyant Bushra Khan’s prophecies
These sources claim that her prediction about Khan’s Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf party getting 116 seats, made much before the elections, has also proved correct.
These sources say the would-be First Lady is not a lame duck Pirni or spiritual guide, sitting behind the curtains and just offering prayers and predicting events. “She is very practical and advises her husband on religious, spiritual and political issues. She was instrumental in getting Pir of Siyal Sharif, Pirs of Sultan Baho and even Pirs of Manki Sharif accommodated in the PTI ranks,” they say.
She also won over the blessings of the Diwan (caretaker of Baba Farid shrine) of Pakpattan, Moudood Masood
The would-be First Lady holds sway in Barelvi and spiritual circles.
She sought some sort of seat arrangement with Tehrik-e-Labbaik, Pakistan (TLP) sending an emissary to its head Allama Khadim Rizvi but it could not materialize due to shortage of time.
she condoned Maulana Rizvi’s outburst against Imran Khan and warned her husband to be careful on the issue of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat [finality of Prohethood] in future
Imran Khan had a three-hour marathon meeting with Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Chairman of the Ruayat-e-Hilal Committee to clear the air with Ahl-e-Sunnat-wal-Jamaat.
Now Imran Khan, the would-be prime minister, says his prayers regularly for five times and feels purity around in the company of the newly-attained spiritual power.

Will other party leaders also follow I'm the Dim's example and find their own peernis? Also, will I'm the Dim grow his facial hair to comply with the religious requirements? Will the dimwit create a new ministry of spiritual affairs and let peerni be the minister? Will Stormy Daniels file a lawsuit...wait, that's another story.

August 11 Is The Date When Immy Is Crowned PM :D

Imran Khan says will take oath as premier on Aug 11

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that he will take oath as prime minister on August 11, Radio Pakistan reported on Monday.Khan shared this information while talking to the newly elected lawmakers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Islamabad. He said that the name for the slot of KP chief minister will be announced soon.
Straight from the horse's mouth !
Although the PTI has emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly after the polls, the final results issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) show that the party is still short of numbers to form its government independently. According to the results, the PTI has bagged 115 general seats — 22 short of simple majority — whereas the PML-N and PPP have won 64 and 43 seats, respectively.
To meet the required number of votes, the PTI leadership has reportedly been approaching the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), PML-Quaid (PML-Q), and the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), as well as independents.
Horse trading, arm twisting and/or behind the scenes deals under way , ably assisted by the "premiere institution"

Not sure what precipitated the shifting of the date from Aug 14 to Aug 11 .
-Ganja's health in danger ?
-Two "celebrations" ( Aug 11 and Aug 14) better than one . work ethics gone to the dogs
- Pakiland's "birthday" should not be "adulterated" with Imran's coronation

Good question. I heard that Sita White (Dimmy's first unofficial wife) wants her illegitimate daughter to attend as well. Besides, BeRehamji's kids (Dimmy's adopted/default kids for nine months) and peerni's kids (newly adopted kids by default) will want to show up as well. Then there's Wasim Akram.... it will be a protocol nightmare. Seating plans, introductions, place cards for dinner, dress restrictions... just like the Last Supper below.

^ Re Above.

Links to Reham Khan’s book with salacious details of Imran Khan’s debauchery seem to go dead from time to time. Perhaps the Punjabi Dominated Military of the Mohammadden Terrorism Fomenting Islamic Republic of Pakistan is working overtime to protect their strategic laadla asset. So here are another 2 links. Be sure to archive and better yet reseed somewhere else on the www:

SSridhar wrote:India intensifies contact with PTI as Imran moves to form govt - ToI

115 seats. But the dimmy guy won in 5. So if he resigns from four does it make 111? Or is that already factored in? How about others who also won more than one seat?

Chinese media goes gaga over Imran Khan after his party tweets in Mandarin - ToI
In what one Pakistani newspaper called "an unprecedented development", Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party late last week tweeted in Chinese - reportedly for the first time - about "strengthening and improving" ties with China. And Chinese media is seeing that as a very good sign, going by some headlines over the weekend. That, and Khan's talk of making use of the Chinese model in pulling millions of Pakistanis out of poverty.

Chinese media sees this very un-capitalist avowal as a big sign that Khan will lean China's way even more.

The influential state-backed publication Global Times carried an article confidently titled, "China-Pakistan ties, economic corridor will endure" and another one optimistically titled, "Will Imran Khan pivot Pakistan from US to China?"

The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad also replied to PTI's Mandarin tweet - in English.

… https://t.co/BpihUwttu9
— PTI (@PTIofficial) 1532701726000

"We have noticed the new signals," said Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of Global Times, according to Pakistan's The News International.

"Movement for Justice Party's victory is a major political event in Pakistan...Development will once again become the main theme of the country which needs support from infrastructure," said an op-ed in Global Times, referring to Khan's party by its English translation name.

Th other op-ed, the optimistically titled one, said it was noteworthy that the first foreign country Khan mentioned in his victory speech was China.

"The first foreign country he mentioned in his address wasn't predicted by many. China, the largest foreign direct investor, running the Belt and Road flagship project and the most dependable ally of Pakistan, was also the only country the new leader talked of taking lessons from," said the op-ed
that wondered whether Khan would pivot Pakistan toward China from the US.

The new pro-CPEC Khan

The title of this op-ed "Will Imran Khan pivot Pakistan from US to China?" is a bit perplexing because Pakistan's had a two-pronged pivot - in opposing directions toward the US as well as China- that it has used distinctly to its advantage all these years and to the frustration of many countries, especially India. In fact, one could go so far as to say it's the US that has a pivot toward Pakistan - no thanks to the Afghan problem - and the latter that pivots toward China. Thus, China's $50-plus (or $62 billion according to the Chinese press) investment in Pakistan, for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)

Khan, though, hasn't always had good things to say about the $50-plus billion CPEC project. To be sure, he's been mostly worried about what he thinks is the lack of transparency and the possibility of widespread corruption at CPEC's myriad projects, rather than about what the project will do for the country.

The optimistic Chinese media op-ed drew attention to that.

"Despite a barrage of criticism he threw at (former disgraced PM Nawaz) Sharif's handling of Chinese investments, Khan is not a skeptic of the projects themselves. The manifesto highlights that the CPEC will be completed with more focus on partnerships and joint ventures rather than Pakistan's high dependence on import of goods and services," said the Global Times piece.

The 'anti-West' Khan

The op-ed is particularly taken by Khan's talk of making use of the Chinese model to solve the problem of poverty in his country.

"Imran Khan's politico-economic views do not seem to be influenced by his Western education. He questions the practicality of capitalist economic policies. He is also a strong critic of US President Donald Trump, the US and US-led wars. In his latest address, he vowed to establish a balanced relationship with the US as against the current one being dominated by the US...Imran Khan's plan is a clear pivot by Pakistan, away from the US orbit and further into the Chinese bloc," said the op-ed.

The News International, though, quoted Tom Hussain, a China watcher as saying that Khan is going the extra mile to make up for his criticism of Beijing in the past, and that China needs to, and would, watch the new Pakistan government closely.

"The PTI has been working overtime to repair its relations with the Beijing, which had been damaged by its disparaging remarks and allegations of corruption about CPEC projects in the past," said Hussain.

Justice Siddiqui open trial adjourned till tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council on Monday rejected both applications filed by Islamabad High Court’s Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui seeking records from Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The SJC led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has started recording evidences. Justice Siddiqui of the IHC reached the Supreme Court premises for the hearing of a misconduct case lodged against him in the SJC.

SJC begins first ever open trial against sitting judge today

The SJC hears complaints of misconduct against superior court judges and will initiate the open inquiry against the judge.

The five-member SJC bench, led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, will hear the complaint against the IHC judge. Justice Siddiqui is expected to appear along with counsel Hamid Khan. The hearing is significant after Justice Siddiqui’s allegations against te country’s premier intelligence agency.

This is the first time that an inquiry is being conducted against a judge of the superior judiciary in an open court.

According to SJC rules, any inquiry against a judge is to be held in-camera. The judge himself requested that inquiry against him should be conducted in open court. So far, eight allegations have been levelled against Justice Siddiqui in the complaint pending against him since 2015.
