PM Imran's delegation to Turkey criticised for ‘lack of diplomatic etiquette.

Twitterati on Saturday hit out at the apparent lack of diplomatic etiquette of the Pakistani delegation visiting Ankara, with an image of the shocking body language going viral.

The image showed members of the Turkish side sitting upright and attentive to the visiting dignitaries from Islamabad.

Even aam abduls in Pakistan are cognizant of how the Pakistani's body posture should be in front of their mai-baap's :rotfl:

How Dhaka fell in 1971.

Pakistan came into being on August 14 1947 and broke up on December 16, 1971. Pakistan is still wondering what happened and gets riled over what is called the Fall of Dhaka, the day Pakistan army surrendered to the Indian Army. The Fall of Dhaka is put at the doorstep of India “that never accepted Partition” and always conspired against it from “day one”.

But Pakistan’s political-social elite has been guessing at other causes too. The ideological majority thinks East Pakistan never followed the “pure” nationalism of Pakistan. The late Supreme Court of Pakistan judge, Nasim Hassan Shah, once said that he regretted that Arabic was not made Pakistan’s national language in 1947. He referred to the language riots of 1948 in East Pakistan and said that had Arabic been suggested to “our Bengali brothers” they would have accepted it as the national language.

The Arabic “option” is a measure of the Pakistani mindset after 1947. Aga Khan had suggested that Pakistan adopt Arabic as its national language. An early governor of East Pakistan, Malik Feroz Khan Noon, not the brightest of the sons of Punjab, thought of the “next best” thing: He started the grotesque scheme of writing Bengali in the Arabic script :rotfl: . In 1952, there were 21 centres doing this in East Pakistan with Central Education Ministry funding. The Bengali East Pakistan chief minister didn’t know that this was happening outside the primary school stream, a provincial subject.

Unlike West Pakistan, where it was religion-based, in East Pakistan, nationalism was language-based, on Bengali. After Independence, Dhaka took a poem of the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore as its national anthem. In Pakistan, the anthem is in Persian except for one preposition “ka” which renders it Urdu.

Senior civil servant, the late Hassan Zaheer, in his book The Separation of East Pakistan (OUP 1994), first revealed the ham-handedness of the policy of imposing Urdu on East Pakistan. According to him, the All-India Muslim League ran into trouble in 1937 when it proposed Urdu as the League’s national language. It was opposed by the Bengali Muslim Leaguers who got Jinnah to water down the resolution to read that Urdu should be encouraged in areas where it was spoken. In the 1951 census of East Pakistan, 8.8 million persons were recorded as literate, of whom 6.4 million were Muslims, and out of them only 10 per cent could read the Holy Quran. The final battle was over Urdu, not Arabic, and the Muslim League made the mistake of appearing to impose Urdu on East Pakistan.

Writes Zaheer: “Such was the insensitivity of the ruling party to popular issues that the East Pakistan Muslim League Council also recommended Arabic as the state language. This was not acceptable even to the West Pakistan intelligentsia.” What happened to the Muslim League in East Pakistan in the years that followed is part of history but even in its heyday it was a fragmented entity. The demise of the Muslim League took place when it tried to impose separate electorates on an East Pakistan overwhelmingly devoted to language and not religion.

But the rift that split Pakistan developed over the disparity of governance. Punjab and the Punjabi-dominated army ruled Pakistan soon after the birth of Pakistan. The services were also dominated by Punjabis through quotas but East Pakistan dominated in literacy and high education. Top seats in the civil services exams always went to East Pakistan . Pakistan couldn’t tackle the strange phenomenon of being divided by a thousand miles of India. Most of the foreign exchange was earned by exports from East Pakistan which was poorly defended when the big war of 1965 with India was fought. That sowed the seeds of December 16, 1971.

Bangladesh’s current population is 166 million, Pakistan’s is 220 million, while after 1947, East Pakistan was more numerous. Bangladesh’s growth rate is nearly 7 per cent, whereas Pakistan’s growth rate is below 5 per cent. Extreme poverty, or those living below the poverty line, in Bangladesh is under 9 per cent while those in Pakistan are 29.5 per cent. Bangladesh’s literacy rate is 72 per cent, that of Pakistan is 58 per cent and loaded more with ideology than useful knowledge. Bangladesh flourishes today. And Pakistan has one-less to worry about from its disaffected components.

^^ I suppose even Pakistani delusions have a limit when it comes to Bangladesh economic and social parameters. I think Indians also owe BDs an apology. We dismissed them just as the West was dismissive about India.

Moeed Yusuf turns a Snake oil Salesman in talking peace between India and Pakistan.

He wants the back channel talks between India to be continuous and not wait till May elections or any election cycle to be over before it can start. He wants talks to go no right now and wants proposals (read concessions to pakistan) to be acted on or granted as soon as elections are over and a new administration comes to power. He desperately wants India to give importance to pakistan and give up its policy of ignoring it and not considering it worthy of holding any dialogue with.

He is the fist Pakistani 'anal'yst who had raised an alarm that if India keeps growing the way it is then in another 15 years Pakistan will be irrelevant in strategic terms compared to India due to the huge GDP differential.

Realizing that the Indian mind set is now set on the minus and irrelevant pakistan view point, he is saying that India is growing and may grow further still it can be better off if India and Pakistan continuously hold talks and grow together!!!

At 11:20 onwards he even say's that if India accommodates pakistan instead of ignoring it then it can become member of NSG and UN Security council. He wants to imply that it is Pakistan that is holding back the twin memberships for India. The other anti-India powers will follow pakistan's diktat if it so desires :rotfl:

He even says that India's anti pakistan posture is what is forcing Pakistan and China together. He think's Indian's are so naive and will believe that and China will give up its anti-India mindset because pakistan want's it that way.

One thing is certain a confident India treating Pakistan with disdain is a real nightmare for Pakistan who just cannot believe that India has overcome its nuisance factor.

Even if India grows at just 7% every year for the next 8-10 years it will be enough to bring these buggers to do shashtang and will beg us to give them some importance and H&D.

When Moeed Yusuf talks on pakistani tv channels on US-Pakistani relations he takes a US centric view (he is based out of US and is part of a think tank in Washington DC) but when it comes to Pakistan and its anti india policies his TFTA pakiness is on full display. He just wants India to live with pakistan's duplicity and give it jizyaa in the form of holding talks to solve the maslaa of (read hand over) Kashmir.

^^^^ Absolutely, Moeed Yusuf (regarded as the Paki deep state transmitter in Washington) is grasping at straws and shows his desperation in the face of overt Indian disinterest in engaging with Pakistan in any manner.

More noteworthy than Moeed is our own man Happymon Jacob. He is clearly not a fan of Modi or the BJP, yet he appears to essentially agree fully with the administration's approach and line of reasoning, appreciative of Modi's early outreach, and understanding of the disengagement/isolation approach. He was clearly giving Moeed a hard time. This is a good development.

Watch the whole interview and see how Happymon is quite convinced of the BJP government's handling of Pakistan. I was also expecting this to be a whinefest of kindred souls, and I was wholly wrong.

Fiction but nevertheless...

Operation Al-Nagrib

Book Description
General Irfan Akram, who has seized power in a bloody coup in Islamabad, hatches a diabolical plot to assassinate US Secretary of State Barbara Evans on a scheduled visit to Mianwali Airbase, in Pakistan’s Punjab Province. Unfortunately, the plot goes haywire when the fidayeen squad tasked with the assassination turns rogue, and acquires a tactical nuclear weapon outside the knowledge and control of its handlers in the ISI. :rotfl:

Meanwhile, the US secures initial intel of the planned fidayeen strike, and delivers a strong ultimatum to the Pakistanis to abort the strike, or else...

When further intel from the Indian spy agency RAW, and its own sources, reaches the US of the nuclear weapon in the fidayeens’ possession, an incensed President Alan Wilkins threatens the Pakistanis with nuclear annihilation. In pursuance of this, he orders Carrier Strike Group Three into the Arabian Sea, and positions it 200 nautical miles off Karachi harbour...

Panic grips the Pakistani Army and the ISI when the realisation dawns on them that they are unable to establish contact with their fidayeen squad. They try desperately to reach the top leaders of the al-Qaeda, the Lashkar, the Haqqani Network and the Tehreek-e-Taliban-e-Pakistan, who are the controllers of the fidayeen squad, but they have suddenly turned incommunicado, and are untraceable.

Meanwhile, CIA Special Agents Mike Hunter and Karen Sanders are brought in, and with inputs from Rajiv Vir of RAW, race against time to intercept and annihilate the fidayeen...

A hugely entertaining and riveting spy thriller
A page-turner :D

He was balling gentle off-breaks to not put too fine a point on it. He never really called out the Baki for his bigotry and delusions of grandeour on how the Baki thinks they can be a determinant of India's NSG and UN aspirations. He didn't really probe him about LeT, JeM etc. A sensible anchor would have grilled the Baki Yusuf no end.

The Paki deflected every question with irrelevant bullshit and he just accepting it all at face value. No, he was not taking a pro-India stance, despite the couple of questions that he asked from the Indian perspective, those were just a journalistic routine that all the Lutyens/JNU charlatans in the media use, to appear like 'fair' journalists. In reality he just served up Paki propaganda by giving the douchebag (basically an ISI mouthpiece for Western audiences) a platform to air his views uncontested.

Sorry I see this interview as a major win. This ISI plant (agree with you on that, as I said he is perceived to be a deep state rep sitting in Washington) had no snake oil to sell at all, even to an anchor who could have been sympathetic (and no he wasn't particularly so). Not only that, he had a desperate tone, said that all the Indians he met during his stay had basically given him the same response "we don't need to talk to you" and was pleading for resuming tier2 talks in any shape or form.

It's the interviewer's prerogative to form the line of questioning - and ratholing each point could be perceived as badgering and be of little interest to the average viewer. This is not an inquisition, it's a publicly aired interview by a for-profit media house. What more do you expect?

Asghar Khan's heirs oppose FIA's suggestion to close 2012 case.
Late Asghar Khan's legal heirs on Thursday submitted their joint reply to a notice in connection with the implementation of the landmark 2012 verdict in the Asghar Khan case, asking that an inquiry in accordance with the Supreme Court's six-year-old order be continued.

The apex court had issued a notice to the heirs of the late Asghar Khan after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) last month suggested that the case relating to the implementation of the 2012 verdict be closed.

The 2012 SC verdict was issued on a petition filed in 1996 by Asghar Khan, requesting the top court to look into allegations that the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) had secretly bankrolled many politicians in the 1990 elections by dishing out Rs140 million. In the latest development, Khan's wife Amina Asghar Khan, his daughters Nasreen Ahmed Khattak and Sheereen Awan, and son Ali opposed the FIA's suggestion and highlighted what they perceived to be halfhearted efforts of the authorities.

"The late air marshal, Asghar Khan endeavored to cleanse the democratic process from unlawful interference by any person, military or civilian, no matter highly placed. This endeavor has not yet achieved fruition and a just end. Consequently, the family of late air marshal Asghar Khan seeks to continue his endeavor and opposes the closure of the inquiry sought by the FIA," said the written reply.

The family also sought conclusion of the trial against the military personal involved and the placement of the result of the trial before the people of Pakistan.

Citing the FIA's progress in the case, the reply mentioned it was clear that "no attempt has been made by the FIA to approach for evidence the central figure retired Brig Hamid Saeed Akhtar, who had confessed before the court his personal role in carrying out the unlawful operation regarding disbursement of funds" to various politicians and institutions before the general election of 1990.

The joint reply claimed that the Ministry of Defence did not support the FIA in execution of the court orders. "In these circumstances, the request to close the inquiry and the case is unwarranted," it added.

Additionally, the family members expressed their concerns that "more than six years after the final judgement of the apex court, proceedings against none of the military personnel involved in the matter, including retd Gen Aslam Baig and retd Gen Asad Durrani who had confessed their wrongdoing against the Constitution and the law, have been concluded". :D

On Dec 29, 2018, the FIA had suggested that the apex court close the case relating to the implementation of the Asghar Khan verdict for want of concrete evidence. A report furnished before the court by the FIA stated that the authorities did not have enough evidence to launch a criminal prosecution against the individuals named in the judgement. (Note the date - ISI/Army under Imran's Naya Pakistan wants the case to be dismissed  )

According to the FIA report, 18 politicians in their statements submitted in the SC denied receiving the funds to allegedly manipulate the 1990 polls.

The agency contended that the statements of witnesses recorded in the case so far had gaps and did not correlate with each other. Moreover, the investigation agency has also remained unsuccessful in securing financial records from the relevant banks since the matter is 24 years old.

Asghar Khan case
In 1996, Asghar Khan had filed a human rights petition in the SC, accusing the ISI of doling out money to a group of politicians in the 1990s.

The case was initiated by the air marshal after Benazir Bhutto's interior minister, retired general Naseerullah Babar, had claimed in the National Assembly in 1994 that the ISI had disbursed funds to "purchase" the loyalty of politicians and public figures so as to manipulate the 1990 elections, form the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI), and bring about the defeat of the PPP.

Sixteen years after the petition was filed, the SC in its judgement — penned by then chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry — ruled that the 1990 general elections had been polluted by dishing out Rs140m to a particular group of politicians only to deprive the people of being represented by their chosen representatives.

The court had, however, thrown the ball back to the then PPP government by directing it to take necessary action under the Constitution and law against former army chief retired Gen Mirza Aslam Beg and former director general of ISI retired Lt Gen Asad Durrani for their role in facilitating the group of politicians and political parties to ensure their success against their rivals in the 1990 elections.

On May 7 last year, the SC bench had rejected Beg and Durrani's petitions to review the October 19, 2012 apex court verdict in the Asghar Khan case.

Trump asks how many Pakistanis apprehended at border.
US President Donald Trump during a tour of the southern border in Texas asked a law enforcement official how many Pakistanis were arrested early this week trying to illegally enter America as he was told that individuals from several South Asian nations attempted to cross the porous border with Mexico.

Trump asked the question when a law enforcement official briefed him on the security situation on the border and listed out the name of the
countries whose citizens were nabbed at the border a day earlier.

"So far this sector has apprehended folks from 41 different countries. Just yesterday, we apprehended 133 people from countries other than Central
America and Mexico. That includes individuals from India. We apprehended some Pakistanis, Romania …," the law enforcement official told Trump.

"How many Pakistanis?" Trump asked, interrupting the law enforcement official. “It was two yesterday,” the border security official told the President.

Why SAARC is still relevant.

Imran Khan earned a lot of popular support in Pakistan by opening up the Kartarpur Sahib gurudwara to Sikh yatris from across the border with India. He talked of “peace and trade” and was hailed by the man in the street. In fact, Prime Minister Khan was so sure of “real” public support that he began toying with the idea of mid-term polls to bag a two-thirds majority in parliament that would enable him to change the laws which obstruct his political agenda.

His foreign minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, however, stabbed Khan in the back by calling the Kartarpur overture a “googly”. Instead of commending him for his anti-India bluster, Pakistan’s powerful media unanimously condemned him for his gaffe. Khan was silent before the media but reportedly showed his annoyance at what Qureshi had done. That the whole of Pakistan — including the army — didn’t like Qureshi’s googly means the time for such antics is over(On the contrary a majority of the talk show participants and anchors in pakistan were complimenting Qureshi on putting India on the defensive by this remark and only shows it was designed with ulterior motive of stroking separatists feelings amongst the Sikhs).

However, Najam Sethi wrote in The Friday Times of November 30: “Now Pakistan’s reopening of the Kartarpur…is being billed as some sort of peace breakthrough in Indo-Pak relations. It is nothing of the sort. Like the IMF, China and Saudi Arabia openings, this initiative comes courtesy General Bajwa whose bear-hug of Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Siddhu at Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony in Islamabad put Indian PM Narendra Modi and Punjab state CM Amarinder Singh in a tight corner.” But what if the Pakistani army chief wants to turn over a new leaf? Bajwa belongs to the post-Musharraf and post-Kargil dispensation and is thoroughly disenchanted with Pakistan’s past “trans-oceanic” friends. He could also be sick of the subversive reflex of the army against civilian governments seeking “normalisation” with India. The pattern is so repetitive you can no longer fix the history books without being laughed at. Bharat Karnad in his recent study, Staggering forward: Narendra Modi and India’s Global Ambition notes that soon after he assumed office, General Bajwa asked his officers to read about the ways in which the Indian Army adjusted to the democratic Indian polity. (How did Karnad privy to what Bajwa said to his officers? If this was let out by the army chief or the ISPR then it is clear that this was a PR exercise to show Bajwa as a different army chief to the largely international audience)

Karnad also favours going back to the initiative of General Pervez Musharraf — now ironically facing a trial for treason in Pakistan. Musharraf offered a “compromise on Kashmir which would have formalised the LoC as international border, and afforded Pakistan the fig-leaf of the omission to ‘oversee’ along with India the affairs of the erstwhile princely state of Kashmir (It was not just a fig-leaf.Pakistan would have essentially got a say on everything that could or could not be done in J&K. If India did not agree with Pakistan's pervasive role and an essential veto it would be breaking its agreement and would give Pakistan the convenient option of not agreeing to LOC as the border and harp back on its claim to entire J&K. Also it gave Pakistani kashmiris the right to enter J&K without any restrictions. What would have prevented pakistani punjabis from entering india under the garb of a kashmiri and then moving to rest of India?) Had that agreement been approved by Manmohan Singh, India could in the present day have exercised a veto over the CPEC passing through Gilgit and Baltistan.” (Not neccassary Pakistan dos not honor any agreement and Simla agreement is proof of that)

Imran Khan is talking of trade and investment with India. Everybody knows it means free trade, free movement and Indian investments in Pakistan. Who else but post-Nehruvian capitalist Narendra Modi would comprehend the significance of this kind of thinking? Khan is religious like Modi but is hounded by the mullahs (Nope he is himself a rabid Mullah when it comes to anything with india and is dependent on the Mullah/army to cling to power). Modi too is letting the BJP-RSS combine spread Hindutva that frightens non-Hindus and secularists in India and delays his economic agenda.(Equal-Equalitis, economically India has outgrown pakistan ability to be an hindrance and nuisance and its GDP is growing at 7.5% , thank you)

For Pakistan, “talks” should aim at “normalisation” rather than “Kashmir” if it wants to avoid a deadlock while its economy is belly-up and India can afford to sit pretty. Khan will respond to an opening-up of the Lahore border, where the two armies currently indulge in a farcical pantomime of attacking each other. All this boils down to the initiation of “connectivity” that Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh introduced as a theme at SAARC. India’s inability to live normally with its neighbours is frequently acknowledged (What nonsense India shares an open border with Nepal and Bhutan and its relations with Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Srilanka is strong), but now an economically powerful India needs to return to SAARC instead of scuttling it (So India is scuttling SAARC - Really?). According to Karnad: “The Modi government may not acknowledge this, but crafting good relations with Pakistan is the fundamental building block of a truly peaceful and economically integrated extended sub-region, one that is slugged into the Indian economy which, thus enlarged, can become the driver of economic prosperity and the kernel around which a loose collective security arrangement can over time grow to protect it.” (Again quotes Karnad - How does Karnad propose India builds good relations with pakistan? Does Karnad even know that building relations with pakistan means agreeing to everything that it wants?)

Khaled Ahmed is considered as a reasonable and sane pakistani journalist. But this veener comes of easily when it comes to India-pak equations and everything is fair game - from selectively quoting anti modi authors to propounding falsehoods and trying to find needless equal-equal equivalent in India for anything negative that pakistan has.

Second question - with the economy sliding steadily downwards will the mullahs also step in to contribute - giving up their beards :?:

From Yawn

Am i right in assuming the guard shown in the photo is IKs guard and not the US senators ?

Yawn link - Presence of US senator’s guard in PM meeting irks Senate panel

Image
A senate panel on Monday lamented the presence of a US senator’s guard during his meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan, terming it disgrace to the country.

Senate Standing Committee on Interior chairman and former interior minister Rehman Malik said the members wanted to know why US Senator Lindsey Graham’s guard had been allowed to remain present during the meeting with the prime minister and directed the interior secretary to submit details on the matter.

After Kirket, it's the turn of Phutball

From Yawn-
FIFA suspends funding to cash-starved PFF
After the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed last week that it had suspended funding to the PFF in the wake of a newly-elected body led by Ashfaq taking over its Pakistan affiliate on the orders of the Supreme Court at the turn of the year, global football body FIFA said on Tuesday that it has done the same.

“Due to the current situation at the PFF, FIFA can confirm that funding from the FIFA Forward programme has currently been suspended,” a FIFA spokesperson told Dawn. “We have no further comment on the matter and that any further updates will be communicated in due course.”

Last week, Ashfaq disclosed at a news conference that the PFF was faced with a cash crisis since taking control from Hayat, alleging that his predecessor had returned funds amounting to $530,000 back to FIFA and AFC.

Well-placed sources had told Dawn that the PFF had received $1,880,000 from FIFA and $750,000 from the AFC since March last year, when the Supreme Court restored Hayat as PFF chief whilst also ordering him to hold fresh elections following a dispute that began in 2015.

Out of that amount, the PFF had spent $2,100,000 till the end of last year, sources claimed. Ashfaq had called Hayat returning the amount to FIFA and AFC as a “criminal move” as he’d been ordered by the SC to give an account of every financial transaction by the PFF. :rotfl:

Mani lashes out at ICC over Sarfraz’s ban.

Lahori Logic on full display

"As far as we were concerned, an apology had been tendered and accepted and the only question was whether Sarfraz deserved any punishment or not," said Mani. "I had already said we should pull Sarfraz out for 2-3 games. I felt very strongly that this has to be a strong message for everyone. We made an apology at all levels and it had been accepted by everyone. We have a good relationship with Cricket South Africa (CSA).” ( So giving apology is end of the matter? This buffon thinks that international rules should be like Islamic laws where you give blood money for murder and get away with it)
He added: “For the ICC to jump in because Phehlukwayo was upset and didn't want a reconciliation process, [and to feel they] have to charge Sarfraz, that's where I think a bit of nonsense comes into this. (That paki mentality of higher leadership getting to rule and disburse justice overlooking the aggrieved clearly being shown here)

"Obviously Sarfraz will be spoken to,” he added. “The whole team will be told that you have to be very careful. It is also a bit of a cultural issue – the word that he used, in Pakistan it would be ignored. That doesn't mean the culture is right but the tone wasn't in any way vicious or vindictive." ( Translation if i murder you with a smile on my face and you prosecute me then you are prejudiced as i did it due to my happy nature and there was no vivious motive

Just think this a s s h o l e was ICC president in the past.

British Pakistani man jailed for sex with funeral home corpse.
A burglar who had sex with a corpse in an English funeral home he broke into was jailed Friday for six years. A judge in the industrial city of Birmingham said Kasim Khuram's crime "offended all human sensibility".
“People from Pakistan to Manchester have rang me. This is a proper family road.

Paki delusions reach stratospheric levels :rotfl:

How Pakistan can get Kashmir.
what Pakistan needs to do is to formulate its Kashmir strategy based on realism. India and the world will take Pakistan seriously only when we unleash our true economic potential and create stakes in international trade.

Pakistan should 'create a situation where India asks us to play': PCB director.
Pakistan Cricket Board's newly appointed managing director Wasim Khan believes the national team needs to "create a situation where India asks us to play" instead of vice-versa.

we need to find out what they smoke. At least some in congress could be given that to have some pride for the nation. That said, they've acceded to India's supremacy!
