If anyone is having these stupid ideas, it falls straight into Modi's lap just like the Pulwama did. He will have a good reason to pull out a Balakote and that's end of those fantasies for a long time.

Chandrababu Naidu is '1000% sure of winning if EVMs are fair'
Chandrababu Naidu has once again questioned the credibility of the Election Commission of India.

Addressing a press conference a day after most exit polls predicted BJP-led National Democratic Alliance to easily return to power, Naidu said that these polls cannot be taken as the absolute truth. "At every election, surveys will be done. It has become a habit for one and all to get surveys done. TDP has been doing surveys since 1983. It is not new for us to hold surveys. I am 1000% per cent confident, TDP will win the elections," he said, adding once again that VVPATs need to be counted. " I have been using technology since long time. At the same time technology is vulnerable. When one person votes, if he gets printed slip, there will be accountability and transparency. EC is complicating things and saying it takes 6-7 days to count VVPATs. We are fighting on that."

Arguing that VVPATs should be counted first, Naidu said that the EC needs to ensure that every political party is assured of its fairness. "In present procedure; VVPATs will be counted at last. If there is difference, EC says VVPAT result will be final. But the VVPAT slips should be counted first. In case of discrepancies, what we demand is to go to polling again," he said. "There are doubts that the EVMs may be changed by using frequency. I am not vouching that but such doubts are being heard. There may be such a possibility to do so."

Naidu ji delineates the line of attacks on EVMs to be taken after results are announced before counting itself.

Since the elections are over i have an account of CBN's capacity of using technology in elections as seen on the day of AP voting on Apr 11.
Looks like the booth level officials(mostly AP state govt employees/govt teachers etc) on CBN's payrolls messed with wiring/connections of the EVMs in AP yesterday. CBN has a long history of using govt officials doing election duty in previous elections.

In every booth one such official was doing a realtime exit poll - one trick they were using is they intentionally put the actual polling kiosk with the voting unit in a dimly lit corner of the polling booth room. Now any older age person comes to vote , that booth official will switch on the LED light of his smartphone & on the pretext of showing light will put his phone over the kiosk walls while doing a dramatic gesture of looking away when the vote is being casted while the phone camera of the phone records to whom the vote has been cast.
If a booth is showing voting to opposition in a big way - the connections like control unit to voting unit connection is fiddled with & when the control unit shows up an error then they stop the voting for few hours(to check the "problem" & to replace the "malfunctioning" machine) discouraging those who queued up for hours to leave & comeback later when the EVM is supposed to work.

Due to such forced disruptions the voting in AP stretched to night 10 PM unlike no other state. With many EVMs subjected to "forced malfunctioning" discouraging many voters who stood in queue to turn back to their homes without voting.
Its another story that immediately post Apr 11th CBN and his yellow media claimed that this EVM malfunctioning is a conspiracy of central Election commission officials to somehow defeat TDP .
This will be the line he will be peddling on the day of the counting in case the outcome is turning bad for TDP despite all those tricks .

Its not about NYT's lack of understanding.

Its about their malice, interference in Indian elections and blatant Hinduphobia and communalism.

They need to be held to account for that.

Their staff, management all need to be named, shamed and measures sought to impose a cost on them for their Hinduphobic behavior.

by a Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India.
The year 2019 is a significant milestone as the people of India will in all probability endorse Nehruvianism despite everything the exit polls suggested on th 19 th of May 2019.....Despite legally and unconstitutionally untenable and partisan decisions of the Election Commission, India will certainly emerge in the year 2019 a triumphant secular democracy. 72 years after India’s Independence the Congress Party and the several secular regional formations will make the strides necessary to secure the secular comfort conceived by Gandhi and Nehru. The electorate will ensure a triumph for Nehruvianism. The credit for the conception and the sustaining of Nehruvianism must necessarily go to the India’s first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who steadfastly and relentlessly built the secular foundations of India. Nehruvianism is a project of inclusive democracy of all Indians irrespective of religion, caste, community and language.

In 2014 ABP-Nielsen's exit poll predicted NDA 274. About the same as the 2019 prediction (277).

However for UPA they predicted 97 in 2014, but 130 this time.

One feature of most of the 2019 exit polls is that both NDA and UPA are claimed to be have gained, mainly at the expense of the "other" parties. I think this may be a real effect.

UPA may get a few more seats from DMK and UDF, and a few more for INC from KL and scattered other seats.

NDA may get a few more seats by squeezing some of the "other" parties in various states.

ibnlive - no big surprises

New Delhi: Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday hinted at supporting the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance if it manages to form the government on May 23. The party said that they would back "any combination that would help Odisha".

"We would probably support some party or some kind of combination, whoever forms the government at the Centre and agrees to settle some of the unsettled and long pending issues of Odisha," party leader Amar Patnaik said.

You are kidding right? The bigotry in the NYT's journos drips through in pretty much every article.

And you are comparing that to some silly brochure bashing in order to downplay their culpability?

They have repeatedly implied Modi and his supporters are murderous savages, on account of being Hindus and brought their faith and caste into the equation implying they discriminate against, and murder others on account of faith and caste and Modi supports it because he too believes in it or wishes to do so for electoral gains.

To pretend this is not Hinduphobia is to be beyond obtuse.

Couldn't agree more. You cannot reason with these western media types...they will never change their colors. The best approach for Modi sarkar is to completely ignore these morons and focus on India. Any steps to be taken will be "behind the scenes".

Steps have to be taken though, its high time. Can't just wish it all away using silly analogies of car purchases and what not.

If VW runs a campaign implying Toyota purchasers are shifty eyed Asians who murder whites, they'd be hauled over the coals.

Here we have people saying "ah, that's because they don't understand Asians".

There is a concerted attempt to dump the blame for the caucasian judeo-christian west's civilizational atrocities on brown pagan Hindu Indian society.

They murder Iraqis and Muslims by the bushel, and Hindus commit "genocide". How many were killed in a *riot* in 2002 vs the umpteen tens of thousands bombed to smithereens, in an Iraq War cheerlead by the NYT? Or the collateral damage in FATA by NYT's blue eyed Obama's drone strikes?

Bigots, high time we called them out on their hypocrisy.

I am more worried about the ghosts of 2004. Back then the exit polls were confident on BJP's victory. And then the slaughter+meltdown took place. Hence the question on exit polls credibility. Hope there's no ambush on 23rd that we dont know about

The only thing that will positively work on a newsrag (once again) is the Singapore model. For example, the rag says minority and caste killings are more during Modi term. If we can gather solid data that proves otherwise (like crime records), file a defamation case upon the paper. That is how LKY used to control the papers. Do that every time they make a statement/allegation that can be refuted using data.

+108 Karanji and KL Dubeyji. While we cannot ignore these trashy NYT and WaPo types, we don't need to panic or overtly indicate any signs of being affected. At the same time need of the hour is to create these Dharmic groups to coordinate the response to inundate their online and print versions with the right views. Legal route suggested by Karanji is possible but it's a pain to litigate in India and doing it in US is also not very practical for India based organizations.

No panic, just keep hammering them on their bigotry using data like Dileep says. And then withdraw their rights to operate in India and make it a scrolling banner on every Indian mission/embassy webpage with the evidence file used for the decision placed right alongside. Also, same applies to all the decision makers in these organizations who have chosen to wear their bigotry openly.

They are clearly trying to cause communal problems in India, which is a law and order issue and hence we are well within our rights. Can expect NRIs to be a force multiplier and file additional charges etc, but not be the primary driver.

All that bile spewing is beginning to tell. Aunty -ji has aged a decade.

And Jain seems like he is going to burst into tears anytime.

Both are in an echo chamber. It was only WA groups ya, only Akshay Kumar ya. Completely unable and unwilling to acknowledge BJPs administrative wins. If they truly believe this and continue advising INC, that's a plus for the BJP.

India election 2019: Exit polls suggest Narendra Modi back as PM

With farming in crisis, unemployment on the rise and growing fears that India is heading for a recession, the economy is perhaps the biggest issue.

Under Mr Modi, the world's sixth-largest economy has lost some of its momentum. Growth hovers around 7% and a leaked government report claims the unemployment rate is the highest it has been since the 1970s.
A crop glut and declining commodity prices have led to stagnant farm incomes, leaving many farmers saddled with debt.

Many also see this election as a battle for India's identity and the state of its minorities.

A strident - and at times violent - Hindu nationalism has become mainstream in the past five years, with increased attacks against minorities, including the lynchings of dozens of Muslims accused of smuggling cows.

LOL.. any doubts now about the manufactured nature of this propaganda campaign by the usual suspects abroad and in India collaborating?

"Strident Hindu nationalism has become mainstream". Can't get more obvious about what's causing severe butthurt to the leftist gang and their gora masters.

Lets now tar the Modi victory as == failing economy, "dozens of Muslims" being lynched. We are soon going to enter the territory of 2,00,00,000,000 Hindu troops in Cashmere, at this rate.

^^^ At a more philosophical level, a question -- will anyone here waste breath demanding that Xinhua drop their India-phobia? No, because China is clearly an adversary, their new-agency's job is to be India-phobic.

So, then one must examine what assumptions underlie the demand that the NYT be not-Hindu-phobic, or rather the assumptions underpinning the idea that the NYT not be Hindu-phobic is a reasonable demand. May be worth pursuing on the non-Western-world-view thread.

If one does not want to examine one's deepest assumptions, then I suggest saying with the Volkswagen vs Maruti metaphor.

At least this is a better explanation implying the NYT represents a fundamental dislike of the Indian civilization, rather than pushing the VW vs Maruti claim.

PS: We began by stating the NYT is indeed a rag full of Hinduphobes commissioned for this purpose. Ignoring that argument and bringing in car comparisons doesn't make any sense nor is it germane. It would be worthwhile digging into the antecedents of each of the decision makers. The Hinduphobia they display is neither normal nor usual. Even the Economist, for all its similar bile, realizes its gone overboard and tends to balance out some commentary on occasion. NYT never has. There is clearly some personal, religious angle to it as well, beyond the usual loony left sophistry that invariably takes the side of the "oppressed muslims of India."

Lot of mullahs eat pork. I did my class X in a Muslim management school in Aluva . The xtians tiffin box (containing pork delicacies) was robbed empty before the lunch break. There was little risk since most of the teachers were either Hindus or xtians. Keralites have progressed from the humble boti to tenderloin. How times have changed. I visit Lulu only for Paragon's chicken Biriyani.

Exit polls: BJP workers prepare for D-Day; silence but hope at Cong HQ
Krishan Chand Bansal, 63, another BJP worker who came in contact with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the age of six, said it does not matter whether the party wins or loses.
"Our job is to work for the betterment of people and serve them. Now we have started working for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls," he said.

The usual commotion at the Congress headquarters was missing on Monday morning, which party workers said was due to a "false atmosphere" created by the exit polls.
"We would definitely perform better. And if we don't, then manipulation of EVMs might have been done," said Ram Singh, a Congress worker.
