So, then one must examine what assumptions underlie the demand that the NYT be not-Hindu-phobic, or rather the assumptions underpinning the idea that the NYT not be Hindu-phobic is a reasonable demand. May be worth pursuing on the non-Western-world-view thread.
If one does not want to examine one's deepest assumptions, then I suggest saying with the Volkswagen vs Maruti metaphor.
At least this is a better explanation implying the NYT represents a fundamental dislike of the Indian civilization, rather than pushing the VW vs Maruti claim.
PS: We began by stating the NYT is indeed a rag full of Hinduphobes commissioned for this purpose. Ignoring that argument and bringing in car comparisons doesn't make any sense nor is it germane. It would be worthwhile digging into the antecedents of each of the decision makers. The Hinduphobia they display is neither normal nor usual. Even the Economist, for all its similar bile, realizes its gone overboard and tends to balance out some commentary on occasion. NYT never has. There is clearly some personal, religious angle to it as well, beyond the usual loony left sophistry that invariably takes the side of the "oppressed muslims of India."
