in case of some misstep with the exit poll results, one would watch the shiv sena very very carefully.

uddhav's cousin raj who has "campaigned" against modi and for the ncp combine was very vituperative all through the campaign and blood runs thicker than water and these cousins are playing a double game by hedging their bets.

pawar is playing the long game here and will claim plausible deniability if confronted. other pawarful peoples are skulking in some dark, dank corner following some biblical revelations that have come like a lightning bolt from the desert delivered by michel mama and his agusta westland sidekicks.

hares and hounds, mostly running and sometimes hunting, seem to be the order of the day.

a ministry reshuffle is possible - AS has called a meeting of all ministers at 4:30PM to thank them for their service.

a lot of previous term MPs were not given ticket by BJP this time.
even BC Khanduris son was denied (he joined INC and got tkt) and nor was Ananth kumar's wife (she stayed in BJP)

Which state is in the Queue for next assembly elections ?

The next whinefest is going to be on selection of Ministers. Stories will be leaked and grumpy anchors would miss the days when they were deciding upon ministers.

Super whine:
https://theprint.in/opinion/winning-any ... di/237754/

Winning anything less than 543 seats would be a defeat for Narendra Modi
Why should Modi lose a single seat when the opposition is giving him a walkover, and media, money and the Election Commission are on his side?

claims of EVM being swapped reaching crescendo with help of durbari media and regional leaders. Lets see how it pans out!
in Bihar RSLP leader Kuswaha said any attempt to change EVM (means if RJD loses) will result in armed rebellion on roads .
RJD goons captured a truck full of EVMs claiming it was meant for swap , turns out it was for training & teaching in Bihar.
ECI is matching vvpat with casted vote on 20,000 EVMs

After discussing turnout figures earlier , here’s some data on voteshare :

In 2014, the BJP alone had 31.5% voteshare . NDA combined had around 36-38% as far as I recall . From this, the seatshares were 282 and 336 respectively.

According to voteshare projections by exit polls, the 2019 figure for BJP itself is:
CVoter: 35%
5forty3: 36%
Today’s Chanakya: 36%
India Today-Axis: 38%

Therefore, it’s apparent that every exit poll so far estimates higher voteshare than in 2014, in the range of 4-7% increase in voteshare for BJP. May 23rd will tell us how this converted to seat share .

BJP is also contesting more seats now. So this % business may not be a clear thing. Also MGB gang up also is there. There is no simple % or mathematical additions etc which will decide final numbers. It is more of a chemistry thing.

This counting VVPAT business. Let the EC be very sure on the process. They are basically counting chits of papers which can even fly away in the wind, or can be destroyed (making the tally go wrong). The "seculars" have got some conditions signed off by the EC on counting and tallying of VVPAT.

Being the cynic I am, I feel that sabotage of elections may come through VVPAT.

The vvpat issue is troubling. The opposition seem to be marshaled by CBN to cast doubts on election process itself. This is a very dangerous precedent. The voting machines worked well when the opposition did well last year. What changed this time other than an unfavorable exit poll?

If the results favor NDA, brace yourself for a long and shady assault on India’s fairly decent election process itself. Mr Lavasa also is not helping this with his stance. The situation is ripe for a civil unrest fomented by external forces, for the incoming govt.

This questioning the electoral process seem similar to the script that is being used in Venezuela, to dislodge the current president

BJP contested 430 seats in 2014 and 437 seats this time.

I haven't done a comprehensive analysis, but it doesn't look like they have substantially increased seats contested in their traditional bases. Rather, they have more than 2x the number of candidates in AP (25 this time vs 12 in 2014). They have 3 fewer in Assam (seat sharing with AGP), FAR fewer in Bihar (17 vs 30 last time). Bihar and AP basically cancel each other out in terms of voteshare contribution, so getting 40 million additional votes (175 million in 2014, vs an estimated 217 million @ 36% voteshare in 2019) came from elsewhere.

Added: This thread on Twitter does a similar analysis, and also makes a similar argument canceling out Bihar and AP.

They are different situations. One is a flourishing economy with low inflation and high quality welfare scheme and no reason for people to support an unrest. The other is a Pakistan of the western hemisphere in spite of the oil . And it's likely that Maduro might have well rigged the electoral process there . If someone gets ideas to replicate arap spring or Venezuela or any xyz in India ,they would wish they weren't even born .

gakakkad, please read what I wrote. i was not comparing countries as you are implying. I was comparing a process of destabilization, where a few prominent opposition figures questioning legitimacy of elections are the opening shots. The model of tarnishing an election had been the first shot in many countries with disparate political systems and varying economic strengths

The Anil Ambani thing is troublesome - it means he does not want to piss off a side and this late in the game.

Confirming changes being dialed in by platforms.

Examples,
One poor user who was struggling to get rid of BBC Hindi and Lallantop has finally seen them gone for YouTube feed. This was for traffic being from Western countries.

On other hand , the morning/evening chalisa user is experiencing lot of headwinds from iftaar parties to election manipulations for committing grave mistake of searching for IPL. This was for traffic originating from India.

Actually what is unfolding is the classic colour revolution playbook that was used by the UK/US against the Indian based governments in Guyana, Trindidad, Surinam, Fiji back in the 60s and up to now. The mo is simple:
a) question the polls
b) use the courts to frustrate the elective process
c) call for fresh elections
d) orchestrate protests and violence by unions and activisists - orchestrated by the foreign media, ford foundation
e ) use the foreign english speaking to amplify these messages: usually small protests in the city centre tends to look large on a screen
f) in india's case english speaking activists - usually photogenic moslem women with their ngo speak will be the voice and faces of the disruption.
Look for A Jazeera to be in front of all of this, backed by the beeb, cnn, vatican tv

Years ago I wrote on BRF with shiv, about some of the cognitive traps that Indians fall into and that can be exploited by others. Indians as a whole tend to struggle with learned helplessness, and this notion that everything has to be introspected, whereas other do not burden themselves with this matter.
Having said this, it provides the GOI with an opportunity to shut down al jazeera, the beeb, and to allow the Army to conduct maneuvers in the Delhi area citing the risk of heightened terrorism.
