India's stand clear on Kashmir, won't accept third party mediation: Jaishankar – PTI
HIGHLIGHTS

- "India has been clear for 40 odd years that we would not accept mediation... and that whatever has to be discussed has to be discussed bilaterally,"

- US President Donald Trump in the recent past has offered mediation between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue
WASHINGTON: Categorically rejecting any scope for third party mediation between India and Pakistan on Kashmir, external affairs minister S Jaishankar has said India's stand has been clear for decades and the two countries can discuss the issue bilaterally.

This if an interesting news and easy to check. There was a story that the Saudi Prince plane developed a snag, made emergency landing and dimran had to fly commercial.

Any rakshak can get the flight plan?

How will flight path prove anything. The flight departed from NYC and returned back after few hours and Dimran waited in the tarmac for some time for the plane to get fixed. Then he checked into Roosevelt hotel and then took commercial flight.

It is unlikely that he was directly told to get off the plane. Saudis are known for their hospitality and if anything they would invite Dimran and give him a strong dressing down in private than cancel the flight loaned to him. Also no need for him to wait on the tarmac for the plane to get fixed if he was bluntly told to take commercial. Even after checking into Roosevelt, it was reported that he waited for some more hours before booking commercial.

It is however possible that Saudis don't want to be seen as enabling the virulent anti India tirade of Dimran and feigned technical snag to get him to fly commerical. The timing of their intent to invest 100B in India soon after Dimran's UNGA address points to their uneasiness with his Hardline approach. UAE and Saudi are courting India strongly in their existential fight against Iran. Saudi wouldn't have liked Dimran's offer of tripartite negotiation between US, Saudi and Iran. Saudi want to negotiate with Iran directly as news has emerged that they are using Iraqi PM for it. There are signs that Dimran abused the hospitality given to him by the Saudis.

Meanwhile in Terroristan, dimwits are spinning this reported technical snag as an attempt on Dimran which was averted thanks to Aolla and Preeni bibi's prayers.

The Porki propensity to take their benefactors for granted and make grand statements to underscore their own sense of importance is evident by Dimran's behavior. The ISI anchors in paki media have been propagating BS on how Pakistan has gained importance as a world player and how Imran has emerged as a 'giant statesman' after his UN visit.

SaudiArabia endorses India's actions in Kashmir – ANI

HIGHLIGHTS

- Saudi Arabia has told India that it understands "India's approach and actions in Jammu and Kashmir"

Sources said the visit will further strengthen the deep bond between the two countries and help identify areas of cooperation at a time when Saudi is looking to diversify its economy in line with the crown prince's vision 2030[/i]

NEW DELHI: Saudi Arabia has told India that it understands "India's approach and actions inJammu and Kashmir".

The Saudi stance on the issue was conveyed to India in a two-hour-long meeting between National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in Riyadh on Wednesday, sources told ANI.

Highly-placed sources said a wide range of issues were discussed on various aspects of bilateral relations in the meeting between Doval and the Saudi crown prince.

"The issue of Jammu and Kashmir also figured in the discussion during which Saudi crown prince expressed understanding about India's approach and actions in Jammu and Kashmir," they said.

India abrogated Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 and bifurcated the state into two Union Territories - Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

Riyadh's remarks come despite Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to Saudi Arabia to seek support on the Kashmir issue.

The important visit of Doval to Saudi Arabia highlights the regular and ongoing close consultations at highest levels between the two sides on issues of mutual importance, the sources said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NSA Ajit Doval have developed close ties with the Saudi leadership over the last five years, which have also been credited for the closer security and intelligence cooperation between two countries.

Sources said the visit will further strengthen the deep bond between the two countries and help identify specific areas of cooperation at a time when Saudi Arabia is looking to diversify its economy in line with the crown prince's vision 2030.

Saudi has announced that it will make investments worth nearly $100 billion in India.

NSA also had a meeting with his Saudi counterpart Musaid Al Alban, who chairs the Council of Political and Security Affairs of Saudi Arabia. He is also chairman of National Cyber Security Authority.

"They both discussed issues of national and regional security. Both sides highlighted the importance of close security ties," the sources said.

So it seems KSA and UAE asked pukes to refrain from making too much noise and assured India that their pooch will follow their command. Pukes used tactical brilliance to not heed their master’s call and follow their own independent foreign policy. Must’ve hurt KSA really bad at a time when Yemen is a mess and Sauds are looking for a way out.

Failure to meet collection target, reduce stock of refund arrears: Pakistan to seek IMF’s waivers - Mehtab Haider

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will have to seek waivers from the IMF’s Executive Board on missing out two performance and indicative targets related to the FBR’s collection target and reducing stock of refund arrears for end September 2019.

In order to build up foreign currency reserves and materialize Net International Reserves (NIR) up to the desired target under the IMF program through “hot money” from abroad, the government has lured $328 million through foreign investors for investing into government bonds and treasury bills.

This hot money at higher interest rates in the range of over 14 percent is a highly “controversial move” that was criticized by many independent economists.

However, the government is also finding it hard to meet the third indicative target to curtail the monster of circular debt to Rs23 billion by end September 2019, as the latest estimates suggest that the flow of circular debt had gone up by Rs60 billion in the last three months (July-Sept), as it increased from Rs800 billion in June 30, 2019 to Rs861 billion on September 30, 2019.

On curtailing the power sector arrears to Rs23 billion under the IMF’s indicative target for end September 2019, the government is making efforts to restrict this figure to the desired limit. However, top guns of the ministries of finance and power were reluctant to talk on this subject despite several efforts.

The monster of circular debt as defined by the IMF stood at Rs800 billion on June 30, 2019 and it was agreed under the Fund program that the arrears accumulation would be restricted to Rs23 billion in the first quarter of the current fiscal year. Now the rough estimates suggest that the arrears accumulation has gone up by Rs60 billion.

Now the government is making efforts to adjust it by providing increased amount of subsidies in order to avoid another breach of indicative target under the Fund program.

On FBR’s quarterly target of Rs1071 billion, the FBR has collected Rs1070 billion showing impressive growth on front of domestic taxes.

The FBR high-ups claimed that the IMF team sent them message of “congratulation” on 30 percent growth of domestic taxes but the import compression of $3 billion caused loss to the revenue efforts. On reduction in stocks of refunds arrears, the FBR high-ups claimed that the IMF inserted figure of Rs75 billion reduction without undertaking proper homework and it was now agreed that when the upcoming review mission would visit Islamabad by end October or early November then the reduction in stock arrears of refunds would be reassessed again and new figures would be made part of the IMF program.

On face of it, the IMF indicative target requires reduction of Rs75 billion; however, the FBR released refunds to the tune of Rs30.1 billion in first three months of the current fiscal year. Now the key target of restricting the primary deficit will be crucial one as under the original plan the government had to keep it at Rs102 billion for end September 2019. There are certain caveats as inability of reducing the refund stocks will also result into making the primary deficit more difficult so it is yet to see how much the primary deficit is brought down on lower side at time of upcoming review of IMF that will take place by end of the ongoing month.

In quiet visit to Saudi, NSA apprises Crown Prince of Kashmir situation
October 02, 2019 19:56 IST
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval paid a two-day quiet visit to Saudi Arabia during which he apprised Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir after the state's special status was withdrawn, official sources said on Wednesday.
The Saudi side conveyed to Doval that it is aware of New Delhi's long-held position on Kashmir and emphasised on the need for de-escalation of tension between India and Pakistan, they said.
The NSA arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
Doval and Salman also deliberated on a range of bilateral, regional issues including the missile and drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities last month and ways to further deepen anti-terror cooperation.

UK court denies Pakistan claim to £35m in Nizam case

In a lengthy judgement that covers the developments of seven decades, the Royal Courts of Justice in London noted: “Nizam VII was beneficially entitled to the fund and those claiming in right of Nizam VII — the Princes and India — are entitled to have the sum paid out to their order.

The judgement, handed down by Justice Marcus Smithcourt, also said: “Pakistan’s contentions of non-justiciability by reason of the foreign act of state doctrine and non-enforceability on grounds of illegality both fail.

So GoI WILL get its share.

let's see anyone try and meet the saudi crown prince without an invitation.

these things are not explicitly mentioned because a lot of diplomatic groundwork has to be laid before such an event happens, position papers prepared, approved and then exchanged to that the other side is not caught unawares or is sandbagged. Internal briefings are done and the saudi position on any given matter is evaluated and factored in.

these are matters of state and rigid protocols are enforced and followed.

From the original Bloomberg article

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... up-economy
Pakistan’s Army Chief Holds Private Meetings to Shore Up Economy

For the first time since the elections in July last year, Khan’s approval rating has fallen to a level where more people don’t like him. The prime minister’s popularity has dwindled about 18 percentage points from 64% during elections last year to 46% in August, according to a survey by Roshan Pakistan.

“Any drop in ratings or opposition alliance is not a threat for Khan because he enjoys unprecedented total complete support of the establishment,” said Rashid Ahmed Khan, who heads the department of politics and international relations at the Lahore-based University of Central Punjab. “The army is the only support that can save Imran Khan from downfall.”

Dimran at the mercy of the TSPA more than ever, even for the mere survival of the PTI government. The ratings yet to account for post Modi's Kashmir gambit and Dimran's success at UNGA.
