‘Maleeha Lodhi's Fatal Flaw: Her Son Is Married To A Hindu’. A quintessential South Asian expat mom, Lodhi says, “I want my son to marry a Pakistani Muslim. I’m very spiritual—it’s a critical part of me. One day, I want to go home.”

Maleeha Lodhi’s Fatal Flaw: Her Son Is Married To A Hindu

SEEMA SIROHI
OCTOBER 4, 2019

WASHINGTON DC: The reason Pakistan decided to name a woman beater, Munir Akram, as its permanent representative to the United Nations and unceremoniously remove Maleeha Lodhi from her post is apparently because her only son is married to a Hindu.

To be sure, this is one of the many reasons why Lodhi’s star dimmed but it was said to be the final straw that broke the camel’s back.

That this detail became known in the midst of the Kashmir fracas and a new low in India-Pakistan relations was too much for the army generals and Prime Minister Imran Khan to bear. Lodhi was deemed a security risk, according to well-informed sources, and her performance began being judged vis-a-vis her personal life.

Lodhi became the target of an intense public campaign once the news leaked that her son Faisal, who is in his late 30s, was married to an Indian-origin woman named Gaurika Gambhir. Old wedding photos circulated on Twitter last month.

Gambhir’s profile says she is from Delhi and has worked at ABN AMRO and HSBC banks. She studied at Columbia University.

Pakistanis began calling Lodhi a “traitor” to the cause and said there was a deep conflict of interest. Some called her an Indian agent but others defended her. Lodhi has refused to comment publicly on her son’s personal life and said that she had always planned to move on after the UN General Assembly this year.

Ironically, in 2003 she had told a British newspaper, The Telegraph, after becoming Pakistan’s high commissioner in London: “I want my son to marry a Pakistani Muslim. I’m very spiritual—it’s a critical part of me. One day, I want to go home.”

Home she did go but not voluntarily. Complaints had been piling up against Lodhi despite her efforts to endear herself to the present dispensation. Khan’s performance at the UNGA was hailed by supporters as sterling and she got some credit for that.

As Pakistani columnist Mohammad Taqi sarcastically asked on Twitter: “Haw hai, removing the manager of the #UNGA World Cup-winning team?”

It’s another matter that the rest of the world was appalled at Khan’s 50-minute speech, which included a veiled threat to use nuclear weapons. He became the first leader to threaten nuclear war from the podium of the UN.

It seems the removal of Lodhi, who was sometimes referred to as Gen. Lodhi for her proximity to Pakistan’s military-intelligence complex, was a long time coming. She was perceived as “incompetent” by the powers that be.

The reason: her total and utter failure to effectively raise the Kashmir issue in the United Nations over the past two months. She wasn’t able to rouse any country to go after India. Even China did the bare minimum and cut its losses. The U.S.-French wall was higher.

Lodhi’s handling of the UN Security Council’s “informal consultations” on August 16 following India’s decision to revoke Article 370 and divide Jammu & Kashmir into two union territories came under the scanner. Word got back to Islamabad that Lodhi didn’t have mastery over the complex rules and traditions of the UN system.

A Pakistani analyst said she often “twisted” facts and sometimes simply resorted to spreading untruths to make herself look good. Her self-promotion on Twitter is legendary.

Before and after the August 16 UNSC consultations on Kashmir, Lodhi gave exaggerated accounts of what she had “accomplished” to the Pakistani press, some of which she had to retract. She talked as if she was inside the room or had a representative when the consultations—called by China—were restricted to UNSC members.

Lodhi’s appearance at the podium immediately after was seen as ineffective and wooden. It looked even worse against the star performance by India’s Permanent Representative Syed Akbaruddin.

Lodhi didn’t take any questions while Akbaruddin did, including a few from Pakistani journalists. Rawalpindi was riled and Islamabad was incensed at this public failure, a Pakistani source said.

Pakistani American groups had anyway been complaining to Khan over time about her conduct. Malik Nadeem Abid, head of New York-based “Kashmir Mission USA,” in particular had gone after Lodhi for her failure to raise the Kashmir issue more aggressively. He has since claimed victory on Pakistani TV channels for her ouster.

Among Lodhi’s other major gaffes was her flashing a photo of a Palestinian girl at the UN in 2017, claiming it was evidence of “Indian brutality” in Kashmir. The picture was taken in 2014 in Gaza by a photographer named Heidi Levine, and the girl had been injured in an Israeli attack.

At this year’s UNGA, Lodhi referred to Boris Johnson as “foreign minister” instead of prime minister in a tweet. “Sorry typo in previous tweet. Prime Minister Imran Khan met British PM this morning,”

Back in Islamabad they said, my cup runneth over.

Lodhi has been around a long time, serving as Gen. Pervez Musharraf’s ambassador to the U.S. and high commissioner to the United Kingdom. Her latest stint in New York began with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who didn’t want her in Washington but is said to have tolerated her presence at the UN to keep peace with the generals.

As things stand now, Akram will represent Pakistan in the era of the #MeToo movement—a man accused of beating his live-in girlfriend the last time he was Pakistan’s envoy to the UN.

The stables in “Naya Pakistan” must be empty that Khan found only Akram. In 2002, Akram was fodder for New York tabloids after his live-in girl friend Marijana Mihic accused him of physical abuse. Until then he was known mainly for verbal strikes, against India.

He scurried back to Pakistan before the U.S. State Department could revoke his diplomatic immunity and the case was hushed up.

Hopefully, he can’t do much harm to women around him at the ripe old age of 73. As for India, he can still do harm but his task is much tougher than before.

Yes, these Hindus are shameless and tend to turn up everywhere they are not wanted. Strict control is required. For example after hanging, Zulfie's body was checked if his peepee was circumcised. Karnails and Jarnails were worried that he may have been a Hindu RAA sleeper mole, passing off as a Mard-e-Momin. (ZAB's mother was born a Hindu.) Being a Hindu is the kiss of death for the Pak elites.

Would that not be a plus point for her.. her son making a hindu woman convert to the muslim faith (else the marriage would not be valid) to marry him.

There were some unintended consequences of the trip too. Inexplicably, the Saudi crown prince, Mohammad bin Salman, was so alienated by some dimensions of the Pakistani prime minister’s diplomacy in New York – he couldn’t have been happy at the prospect of Imran Khan, Recip Tayyib Erdogan and Mahathir Mohammad planning to jointly represent the Islamic bloc, nor with Pakistan’s interlocution with Iran without his explicit approval — that he visibly snubbed Imran by ordering his private jet to disembowel the Pakistani delegation. Significantly, too, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Maleeha Lodhi, lost her job (did Khan’s cronies have anything to do with it?) before the dust of “victory at the UN” had settled.
One is reminded of the hero’s welcome Zulfikar Ali Bhutto received after his address to the UN on the night of December 15-16, 1971, when Dhaka fell. “I will not be a party to it”, he thundered. “We will fight; we will go back and fight….Why should I waste my time here in the Security Council? I will not be a party to the ignominious surrender of a part of my country”. And it came to pass that Mrs Hasina Wajid, the daughter of the “traitor” Mujibur Rahman who led the secession of Bangladesh from Pakistan, spoke at the UNGA after Imran Khan and “reminded” the world how many “millions” of Bengalis died and how many “hundreds of thousands of women” were “raped” by the Pakistan Army,
The truth is that the world doesn’t give a damn about the UN resolutions on Kashmir. The truth is that Pakistan’s intelligence and diplomacy failed to anticipate Modi’s moves and devise appropriate pre-emptive policy. The truth is the world is now ready to live with India’s annexation of Kashmir. The truth is that Pakistan is internationally isolated. The truth is that Pakistan is bankrupt and desperately dependent while resurgent India is globally wooed.

Rest of the article about Ms Lodhi

Moreover, the PM was also informed that Maleeha Lodhi sent a letter to Special Assistant to PM on Information Firdous Ahsiq Awan stressing that press minister post is lying vacant in UN since the last 10 months, therefore, former press minister Saeed Anwar be appointed on this position. When the factors leading to issuance of this letter by Maleeha Lodha to Firdous Ashiq Awan were ascertained, they also proved indescribable. Later decision was taken to remove Maleeha Lodhi. It is pertinent to mention here that reports on social media have come that Faisal Sherwani, son of Maleeha Lodhi had got married to an Indian lady whose family has close relations with Modi family. No contradiction has come from Maleeha Lodhi and her family on this count so far.

War against govt will only end with its fall: JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman - Our Correspondent

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday said the upcoming Azadi March of the party is a “war” which will “only end with the fall of the government”.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, the cleric said that “the entire country will be a battlefield,” as he ratcheted up pressure on the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

The JUI-F has announced a long march against the government on October 27. The march will culminate in the federal capital and the party also plans to hold a sit-in.

Elaborating further, the JUI-F said the party’s strategy will keep evolving to cope with any situation and Insisted that a “flood of people” will participate in the march against the “fake rulers”.

Fazl expressed hope that other opposition parties may join his party and said hopefully “all will be on the same page” as it was a unanimouly agreed last year that the general elections were “fake”.

“The entire country is going through an economic crisis and unemployment has skyrocketed.”

The JUI-F chief also warned the government against making any arrests and said such a move will further incite and anger the protesters.

He further urged the “establishment, bureaucracy and police to not back the illegitimate government” and added that he does not want to clash with state institutions.

On Friday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi urged the party to reconsider its decision of marching on Islamabad on October 27.

The two main opposition parties – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) – tried earlier this week to discourage him from ‘going solo’ with the anti-government rally, but to no avail.

A PML-N delegation met Fazl on October 2 to convince him against the march. The JUI-F chief, at a joint presser following that meeting, dropped a hint that his party might consider the proposal.

However, after an intra-party consultative session of the JUI-F top cadres the next day decided against delaying the march. Fazl, flanked by his top party aides, confirmed to the media following the session that their march would begin later this month.

The JUI-F chief’s announcement stirred up speculation that he had disregarded the proposal of the other opposition parties by ‘going solo’.

“We’re in contact with all the other parties and making decisions in consultation with them,”Fazl had told the media on Thursday.

What "annexation" are the pakis talking about? J&K was always in India's control. Nothing new really happened other than taking off "special" status which has nothing to do with annexation. It's obvious pakis have realized that their Kashmir dreams are up in smoke so are trying to lie to the ummah that Islamic lands were annexed. Add to that sob stories or rape of Muslim women and "genocide" is usually enough to boil the blood of any self respecting momeen. But not this time. Which leaves pakis flummoxed.

Britishers cunningly destroyed our education system: PM

Shedding light on the glorious past of Muslims in the field of education, Prime Minister Imran Khan said, “Britishers cunningly destroyed our education system.”

He was addressing a prize distribution ceremony for the Madrassa students, who performed distinctively in the exams of contemporary education boards and religious seminaries, in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister said reforms are being introduced in the education system, which will help uplift the lower strata of the society with the provision of equal opportunities to progress.

He said a uniform curriculum is being designed so that all the graduates have equal opportunities to grow in their practical life. He said the graduates of the new education system will have understanding of religion, contemporary knowledge and science and technology.

Imran Khan said at present, three education systems are being practiced, which are leading to injustices and divisions in the society.

He said the PTI government had decided in its early days that the students of religious seminaries will be imparted contemporary modern education so that they too can get important positions in different professions.

Moreover, underlining importance of education, the Prime Minister said Islam has laid special emphasis on education. He said Muslims are weak today mainly due to lack of education.

He said eight million Kashmiris have been locked in occupied Kashmir in an open jail for two months.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan, Malaysia and Turkey have decided to launch an English language channel to present Muslims’ stance to the world and project the Muslim history.

He said the three Muslim countries have also decided to collaborate to make films on Muslim history and heroes of Islam.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood said the PTI government has been working on various initiatives to eliminate injustice in the society on the basis of education

USA: another Dhimmicrat weighs in with strident pro-Pakistan Hinduphobia on the Kashmir issue.

Elizabeth Warren.

If she is nominated, all self-respecting Hindus should dedicate themselves to her humiliating defeat in November 2020.

The US-India partnership has always been rooted in our shared democratic values. I'm concerned about recent events in Kashmir, including a continued communications blackout and other restrictions. The rights of the people of Kashmir must be respected

Hajam's Pakistaniyat shows up in the very next paragraph, when he says that "Narendra Modi has internationalised the Kashmir dispute", contradicting all that he wrote above.

Hard Times Have Pakistani Hindus Looking to India, Where Some Find Only Disappointment
By Maria Abi-Habib
Published Oct. 5, 2019

JODHPUR, India — By the time an angry Muslim mob stormed the local Hindu school and ransacked an adjacent temple a few weeks ago, many members of Pakistan’s dwindling Hindu minority had already been wondering whether it was worth trying to stay in a country where they felt increasingly unsafe.
In April, an angry mob vandalized a different Hindu temple, smashing its idols and chucking the pieces in an open sewer. In May, a Hindu veterinarian was accused of blasphemy in a neighboring town, his shop burned to the ground on the rumor that he was selling medicine wrapped in Islamic religious text.
More than 70 years after the partition of India and Pakistan, increasing violence in this officially Muslim country against the Hindu minority — about 1 percent of Pakistan’s 210 million people — is leading some Hindus to rethink the choices and fate that left their families on the Pakistani side of the line in 1947, residents say.
“Most of our elders at the time of partition did not migrate to India because they did not want to lose their businesses. But now they see it was the wrong decision,” said Kumar, a small-business owner from Ghotki District in Pakistan’s Sindh Province, where the attacks unfolded on Sept. 15. He asked that his last name be withheld, fearing mob violence.
“I am considering moving to India, where at least no one can kill me on the basis of my faith,” he said.

Pak magazine claims Saudi Prince called back Imran Khan's plane – IANS

HIGHLIGHTS

- A Pakistani weekly magazine has claimed that the Saudi crown prince was upset with some actions of Imran Khan during his visit to the UN.

- Before visiting the UNGA, Imran had gone to Saudi Arabia and wanted to fly ahead to the US on a commercial jet.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani weekly magazine 'Friday Times' has made a shocking revelation that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman was upset with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan following his visit to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), hence, he asked for the Pakistan PM's aircraft to return to New York midway.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Pakistan government said: "This is a cooked story.Pakistan and Saudi Arab leaders have good relations. There is an attempt to weaken the successful talks between world leader and the Prime Minister. Conclusion over the Prime Minister's meeting with Turkey and Malaysia leader was self-made. The report was aimed to strike on the relations of two country for political motives. We dismiss this report."

The JKLF have assembled at Muzaffarabad. Tomorrow morning they cut across LoC from Chakothi. I don’t understand why BRF is not monitoring it

It's 7th Oct today. Now you know why no one was taking that comedy across the LOC seriously
