First of all, let education be truly democratized so that the unfair advantage afforded to the "minorities" is neutralized forthwith. They literally rule this field and the Hindus who form the bulk of the fees paying population have no say in how educational matters are run and are consequently treated like cattle.

let the minorities run their schools and let the Hindus run their schools, both on an equal footing with regards to access/no access to state funds.

this morally dishonest, and ethically deceitful segregation has/is been done very slyly and consciously and embedded into the constitution so that no truthful history of the Hindus is taught to the Hindus or can be taught to the Hindus in these deracinated schools or even in the schools run by the govt.

All this crap of “schools run by minorities “ is typical of congi era trick of building ghettos. Scrap all such systems and internal and external source of fundings that purposely try to foster madarsa type pollution of young brains.

Link self-learning of all subjects ( online youtube videos ?) and subject wise certification with livelihood and career options. It will automatically push kids and their parents to adopt combination of coursework that will be beneficial to them as per current economic needs. IMO .for e.g .there won’t be many interested in Mughal history or how long it took to build Taj mahal or why it was built in the first place unless they want kids to work as tourist guide.

suraj your analysis has been spot on with regards to Modijis focus and achievement in providing for the poor people. Also opening of those bank accounts was a master stroke bypassing the corrupt middle men who robbed all that was meant for the poor. We are very lucky to have this yugpurus who understands how things work in real life and understands the pain of the poor as he himself was one of them.

It isn't. From my personal experience of my relatives staying in rural areas/villages (in Jharkhand and Eastern UP). The babus are smarter now.
1. Earlier : Poor people applied for money/loan/scheme on an informal condition that a particular percentage will be used a commission/bribe.
2. Now : The babus now ask to give that fixed percentage beforehand. So these people get loans on high interest from local sahukars for the bribe. So now there is an UPFRONT PAYMENT. And top of that some times the expected loan/scheme amount takes months to arrive !! which erodes the overall value due to the high interest paid till then.

The only good point is that there is a lot of push from Central Govt to utilize the Scheme Amount allotted.

LUCKNOW: As Mayawati called time on her alliance with rival-turned-partner Akhilesh Yadav at an internal party meeting today, she remarked that the Samajwadi Party chief "couldn't even ensure his wife Dimple Yadav's win".

Dimple Yadav, a two-term MP, lost her Kannauj seat in Uttar Pradesh to the BJP. It was a remarkable upset, given that the constituency has about 3.5 lakh Yadav votes, enough for a Yadav to sail through. The result indicated that the Yadav community, instead of voting en bloc for Dimple Yadav, also backed the BJP candidate.

The loss of Kannauj is a huge blow for the Samajwadi Party. Socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia had won it in 1967. Akhilesh Yadav's father Mulayam Singh Yadav contested in 1999 and fielded Akhilesh Yadav in 2000. Akhilesh Yadav held the seat till 2012, when he was elected chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. In by-polls after this, Dimple won unopposed.

"Our votes transferred to Dimple but the Yadav votes didn't," Mayawati assessed at a meeting of her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

She noted that the alliance was "bekar (useless)" and said: "Yadav votes were not transferred to us but our votes did go to them. Samajwadi Party won only where Muslims voted heavily for them. Even (Akhilesh Yadav's) own family didn't win the Yadav votes."

Mayawati has decided to contest on her own the bypolls to 11 assembly seats where lawmakers were elected to parliament. This change of policy - the BSP never contests bypolls - is said to be driven by desperation, say sources.

The BSP-SP understanding was, broadly give-and-take between the two former chief ministers. Samajwadi chief Akhilesh Yadav would back Mayawati for Prime Minister and in return, he would get big help from her in returning to power in the state, where he was voted out in 2017.

The Mayawati-Akhilesh gathbandhan (dubbed as the bua-bhatija or aunt-nephew tie-up) came a cropper and ended up with hardly more than dozen seats in 80-seat Uttar Pradesh.

"If Mayawati doesn't exit the alliance now, she will have to help Akhilesh Yadav in the assembly bypolls and the state election in 2022," explained sources.

For now, Akhilesh Yadav is more of a dead weight for Mayawati. Even Samajwadi Party leaders say Yadav votes are shifting because the "era of caste politics is over" and the community wants development.

Naidu is like RaGa who gets to relaunch himself every once in a while as a new avatar.

the real power is ofcourse Stalin ji. TN needs very careful handling. it occupies the strategic position in south both geographically and economically.

but overall despite a early lead and decades of industrial exp, chennai lost its lead permanently to bengaluru and the gap is very wide now.

this is from a insurance website, others may have different figures but i doubt the rank will vary. and none can dispute bengaluru as the 3rd busiest airport in india and the most absorption of class-A office space in the whole world, which means a lot downstream to job market and ancillary sectors.

given a choice between blr and chennai, 95% of the highest earning youngsters would choose the former.

ofcourse unlike TN which has many industrial clusters, vast stretches of KA north of tumakaru are empty with barely any industrial activity. KA is overly reliant on the "old mysore state" area as economic hive.

A few comments:
* There aren't any middlemen involved in getting money directly onto ones RuPay card.
* MUDRA loans - of which 100 million have been disbursed since inception - are an explicit attempt to break the moneylender system and formalize banking access to the poor.
* Since you apparently know firsthand of irregularities, have you made the effort to notify authorities - naming the people involved ? Citizens' vigilance is just as important in ensuring that the system works well.

Jaganmohan government overturns Chandrababu Naidu's decision, allows CBI probe in Andhra

Previous govt headed by N Chandrababu Naidu had withdrawn the 'general consent' to CBI to conduct raids and carry out investigations on central establishments in Andhra Pradesh.

AMARAVATI: Overturning a decision of the previous TDP government, the new government under Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has allowed CBI to carry out investigations in the state.

"Chandrababu banned CBI and he prevented IT raids. He questioned how ED comes in the state. Now Jagan has issued orders allowing the CBI into the state. CM made it clear that thieves will not be spared. Look out Chandrababu," YSRCP leader Vijaysai Reddy said in a series of tweets.

This comes after the previous government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu had withdrawn the 'general consent' to CBI to conduct raids and carry out investigations on central establishments in Andhra Pradesh in November last year.

The move came at that time when opposition parties were accusing the BJP-led central government of misusing the investigating agency for political benefits.

As per rules under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act of 1946 that governs the functioning of the CBI, the investigating agency has complete jurisdiction over Delhi and enter the other states with the general consent of the government concerned there.

But time and again, it served as an aspirational target for every excluded group. No group had the goal of overthrowing or subverting the Constitution so that they can establish the supremacist rule of their own group, all everyone was looking for was equal Constitutional rights. Some, like nisei Japanese and Tuskegee Airmen, were even willing to sacrifice their lives in defense of the Constitution as "advance payment."

Do you think this is true of India?

MLK's famous I Have a Dream speech also avoids attacking the US constitution, but instead asserts that the system has not held true to the constitution.

So where and how are they hiding the money? Bank accounts will be monitored. And large purchases will be monitored. Even if they have it in cash, any purchases over 2 lakhs in cash is illegal. If they are stashing it in the hope of a return of congress govt, that is a long wait.

Think about what's not touchable, runs in parallel, follows different laws: religious establishments, education establishments, etc.

Drugs and alcohol are other platforms that are being used in Gujarat. Telegram and signal are preferred choice of apps.

There was a positive narrative about India, once upon a time. That is how Indian influence went all the way to Japan and into Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, etc., and without a lot of Indians moving there, those cultures absorbed many Indic elements. This is not very different in quality from being an aspirational target like the US Constitution.

Presumably this influence also went westwards, but got overwhelmed by the Islamic onslaught.

And the narrative about India was turned negative some centuries ago. Can the narrative be turned around? Or more importantly, what is the cost to India of not turning around the narrative?

IMO, the old Nehruvian narrative was an attempt to build an aspirational target; but it failed to use India's native strengths and it failed to deliver much. Does PM Modi have the beginnings of a new narrative, that can be an aspirational target for all Indians?

pankajS, All generalizations are general.
What those surveys don't understand is BSP is confined to one section of SCs.
All non-BSP supporters are with BJP.
With those caveats the conclusions are correct.

That can start only when Indians have access to basic necessities of life, don't crap in the streets, India is clean and functional, and its citizens are not themselves deracinated Hinduphobes.. IMHO the basics of what Modi is working on. Which will ultimately overwhelm the NYT, Guardian, Economist propaganda and break the citadels of the organized Hinduphobia led by the left. They want a million mutinees. What will they do when their planned for would be mutineers (i.e SC/STs, OBCs, deracinated regular Yindoos) turn into Yinduvadis and target them instead? That's what they hate so much about Modi. The presumption an OBC could show to overturn the agenda they had set.

Swaminathan Ankaleshwara Aiyer blows a hole through the 'rural distress' argument championed by YoYa:
BJP’s rural votes show talk of farm crisis misleading
Annual GDP growth fell from 6.9% in 2017-18 to 6.8% in 2018-19. Worse, GDP in the latest January-March 2019 quarter slowed to just 5.8%. Yet Narendra Modi swept the general election. The BJP’s national vote share rose from 31.3% to 37.5%. In the seats it contested, its vote share rose to 46%. Contradicting conventional wisdom on agrarian distress, the BJP actually boosted its vote share in rural areas to roughly 46%, double the Congress’ 23%.

This suggests that talk of agrarian distress is much exaggerated. The latest data shows that agricultural growth in 2018-19 was 2.9%. Growth fell quarter after quarter — 5.1%, 4.9%, 2.8% and -0.1%. Clearly, a good rabi and summer crop in 2018 was followed by serious slowing because of drought.

But the annual average of 2.9% is the highest ever in a drought year. This heart-warming achievement reflects increasing irrigation plus diversification into animal husbandry, fisheries and tree crops that are less monsoon-dependent. Indeed, traditional crops now account for barely half the agricultural output. Maharashtra was the worst-hit drought state in India, yet the NDA won 41 of the 48 seats there, and the Congress only one.

No country has managed more than 3% agricultural growth over a long period. The main reason is that you can build more factories to boost industry and more offices to boost services, but you cannot create more land to expand agriculture. Indeed, with growing urbanisation, India’s cultivated area is falling. So, all gains have to come from higher productivity.

Between 2004-05 and 2011-12, India raised 138 million people above the poverty line. We still await the 2017-18 data. But the World Poverty Clock, an internationally recognised source of quick estimates, says the number in India below the World Bank’s poverty line of $1.90 per day has fallen from 218 million in 2011-12 to barely 50 million in 2018. That would be impossible if India really had an agrarian crisis.

Farmer agitations have risen. They are equally common in rich countries where farmers earn 100 times more. Rising agitations reflect rising returns from demonstrations as governments give in, not distress. Distress was worst in the twin droughts of 1965-66 but there were no agitations, just starvation. Added: Anyone driving down I5 in California will have seen the farmer distress billboards

The main rural problem is that rising population has reduced the average farm size to 1-2 acres. Prosperity on such tiny plots is impossible. Agriculture accounts for barely 13% of GDP today but almost 50% of employment. The answer is to move people massively out of agriculture into industry and services.

In poor Bihar and eastern UP, villagers say farming and MNREGA occupies them for only a few months in the year. This looks insufficient to account for rising ownership of cellphones, TVs and motorcycles. Villagers say this is explained by virtually every rural family having one or more members working in a town, often within commuting distance, sending or bringing home remittances. This rural diversification is not captured by statistics. Besides, the arrival of roads, electricity and telecom in almost all villages has created many new rural economic opportunities, from dhabas and repair shops to agro-processing.

One big task is there are 300 Million BPL persons in Bihar and UP. The goal is to move 200 M above the line soon.
It maybe good idea to read the BJP manifesto now that they have won.

Not anymore. There are 50M BPL across the whole country as of 2019, as quoted by SA Aiyar above, where he references this Brookings world poverty clock analysis.

The sort of widespread poverty that existed until recently is increasingly a state of RaGa's mind.

second that, The Soviet had early prototypes of an anti west narrative but it found no traction and much of it was hollow and hypocritical. Modi needs to buckle down and focus on social up liftment. The narrative has to be from a position of strength. When Indic culture spread upto to japan and Philipines it from a position of strength.

Watching the interview above, I am beginning to think that Tharoor is sabotaging Rahul Gandhi. His defense for Rahul are very weak and he seems to be actively colluding with Thapar that Rahul is no good. Tharoor is trying to finagle himself into being made Leader of Opposition. Watch @25:45

He can aspire to LOP position in the next GE. No party that contested in 2019 won enough seats to stake a claim to LOP. 55 seats are required. INC has 52, of which 8 are just DMK seat sharing arragement - their native seat count is 44, same as last time.

Is that official? As in, for all practical purpose, INC is considered to have 52 seats. Lets say, tomorrow, 3 MLAs from DMK switch over to INC thereby enabling them to meet the 55 mark. Will INC get the LOP or should INC get 11 MLAs to qualify for LOP.

The LOP is a parliamentary position and not a constitutional one . The speaker is probably the ultimate arbiter as to whether the opposition can horse trade their way up to 10% . My own guess is that this is not possible - INC would have tried it in 2014 when they were VERY insistent on an exception being made. They missed out on LOP then and they have shown much less interest in the matter this time around , because corruption as a topic is not something they succeeded at using . They simply do not have a leader of stature .
