Nageshwar Rao shunted from CBI, appointed as DG Fire Services

Nageshwar Rao was at the centre of CBI vs CBI controversy as a day after taking charge as interim director, on October 24, he has transferred 13 CBI officers.

Nageshwar Rao, additional director of India’s premier investigative agency, has been shunted out from the Central Bureau of Investigation and has been appointed as Director General (DG) Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guard, a post earlier offered to former CBI Director Alok Verma.

Interestingly, IPS officer M Nageshwar Rao had replaced his boss Alok Verma on October 23 after a dramatic turns of overnight events when Alok Verma and his deputy -- special director Rakesh Asthana -- were sent on leave amid an ongoing feud between them.

Alok Verma was removed from the CBI just few days before his retirement by the PM-led appointment committee and was transferred to Fire Services as DG, however, Verma offered his resignation and never took charge of Fire Services. Now, Rao has been given the same position which his former boss was given earlier.

Nageshwar Rao was at the centre of CBI vs CBI controversy as a day after taking charge as interim director, on October 24, he has transferred 13 CBI officers.

These transfers were revoked in January this year by Alok Verma when the Supreme Court reinstated him as CBI director. Verma's order was however nullified by Rao on January 11 when Verma was once again removed and Rao was appointed as CBI's interim boss.

On January 21, Rao had again ordered transfers of 13 superintendents of police (SPs)-rank officers and 7 additional SPs (ASPs). Most of the officers also moved before the court and challenged their transfers by Nageshwar Rao. It was alleged that in spite of Supreme Court’s instructions, Rao transferred officials.

Nageshwar Rao, the CBI's interim boss, was first appointed to the post in October last year when the then CBI Director Alok Verma was asked to go on an indefinite vacation by the Modi government.

The central government's unprecedented order was issued after the tussle between Verma and CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana took an ugly turn and became public, tarnishing the CBI's image.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee had accused him of having links with shell companies at a time when CBI tried hard to seek custodial interrogation of the then Kolkata Police commissioner Rajeev Kumar. Nageshwar Rao’s name also cropped-up in a shady loan case involving his wife's name and alleged links with a dubious business entity.

Looks like the unholy INC-JDS goremint in KA is in real trouble this time.....14 MLAs resign.

If the speaker accepts the resignations on Monday, I guess there will be a trust vote and the goremint would most likely fall.

@KathikS
Just pick up any town or area in Gujarat with recent march to live in "society" and you would notice it. Both sides followed fortress movements. However, one has kept to the script and other hasn't.
For example, take a case of Petlad. Chart the movement of Hindus by walking streets and observing which used to be Hindu areas and not. You would notice that in the last 100 years two major moves from the core place happened in this town. Each move caused more disbursement and the security was lessened. It was lot easier to keep the population secure 100 years ago to any direct action threat than today. Now today one has to beg on non existent law enforcement. All eggs in one basket. Security outsourced and dependency increased. Sardar Patel knew this set ups well and knew how to call out any fake riot threats in Gujarat.

For example, temples can ask for the right to post guards with firearms, and demand that government indemnify the guards in case they have to end up shooting someone. It will meet resistance, but even the demand itself will convey seriousness of intent.

The guards can be trained by police and assigned as "special police " like in J&K or salva Judam. Again, it may not be accepted right away, or even ever, but it shifts the discourse from generalized grievance to specific solutions, which by implication, admits that there is a problem. Which is progress from pretending that there is nothing to see here, just a parking dispute.

Or even, just the trustees of temples and community organizations issuing a statement that everything is on the table for protecting the sanctity of temples, and if peacefuls get hurt in the process, it is on them.

Any of these things will shift discourse from passive crying that Modi is betraying us, to actively taking responsibility. And they are relatively easy to do.
There is a precedence in history for this. The Rajput kings of both the north and south provided protection and patronage to many temples and protection to the Brahmins; since the Brahmins were the keepers of knowledge. In the 14th century, the Madurai temple complex (Meenakshi temple) was sacked and the city burned under the Delhi Sultanate Khajli's instructions to Malik Kafur. It wasn't until the 16th century when the Nayak dynasty took over to rebuild the Madurai temple complex.

A lot of bad things have been said about and done by Rajputs and Brahmins, but they are inexorably linked to the political and religious history of India. Had it not been for them, we would all today be Muslims and Christians.

Yes, it has to be understood and harsh action also undertaken.

In this case after the SM outrage, an initially confused BJP, and a disinterested pulis force were made to react.

Why India’s middle classes are Modi’s ‘Muslims’
PM Modi is transferring wealth from the middle class to the poor, because the middle class will anyway vote BJP for nationalism & dislike of Muslims.

SHEKHAR GUPTA
Updated: 6 July, 2019 8:44 am IST

Narendra Modi government’s latest Budget is the raising of top tax rates for the rich earning more than Rs 2 crore a year. The increase is steeper for the super-rich — above Rs 5 crore per year. The top tax rate now goes to 42.3 per cent.

It seems like such an awful example of the Indira Gandhi-style ‘soak-the-rich’ politics, people like us might say. Many others in deeply pink polity would hail it as uplifting evidence that Modi too has fully embraced the principles of socialism as mandated in the Constitution’s post-Emergency preamble. Never mind that he leads India’s most unabashed government of the Right into its second term.

government isn’t really soaking the rich, but the middle classes, who also happen to be its most loyal vote bank. Question: Is their unquestioning loyalty the reason the government can afford to treat them like this?

Over the past five years, the Modi government has carried out probably the most spectacular and efficient transfer, or redistribution, of national wealth to the poor. It is tough to estimate it to the last decimal point, but between housing, toilets, cooking gas and Mudra loans, anything between Rs 9-11 lakh crore was distributed to the poor. That it was done with minimal leakage and with no discrimination of caste or religion has been acknowledged. It helped Modi win a bigger second majority. And where did this money come from?

Our immediate instinct would be to imagine it came from the rich. But not quite so. The government kept raising taxes on fuel as crude prices fell, and folding the bonanza into its pocket. Most of this came from the vehicle-owning middle classes.

You can conclude, therefore, that a spectacular transfer of wealth did indeed take place to the poor. But it came from the middle classes of all strata and not particularly the rich. It also bought enough votes from the grateful poor for Modi to sweep the election.

Well fuel prices weren't slashed proportionally, but we had to repay loans of previous govt. Also, Govt could afford those schemes in good part after fixing leakages and taking out middle men out of the equation. How many ghost ration cards, students etc were removed? But from ultra rich people's perspective, why would they pay so much tax? They still have shitty roads, unclean air and water etc. They'd probably move to western country through investor visa route.

Speaking of taxes and middle class, hope NM wins vishwas and wins 400 seats in 2024. He needs all that tax payers money to fund his best performing minorities affairs minister naqvi's 5 crore scholarship programs.

Anyone who thinks "Maulana Mudi" is doing "minority appeasement" for votes does not understand Modi. This is not a simple "cause and effect" game. I will leave it at that. BTW, just before someone points out that education will not make Slams less fundamentalist ... Modi understand that too. So no that is not the reason.
------------------------>>
Going back to what I was here for, I am more than a bit upset with Modi/BJP on a issue that doesn't require much but a little co-ordination and could be used to bust the ongoing massive propaganda.

GOI/BJP should have started tabulating the Yindu/Slam "incidents", built a comprehensive database and established the "premier" source of data on the matter.

Instead, it has allowed vested interests a free run with the highly biased "hate tracker". One such tracker has even gotten affiliated with a top US university (iirc Harward) and a top US paper (iirc WP).

This has allowed these entities to run a very motivated anti-India and anti-yindu campaign. With time this project will become the "Gold standard" for an Indian tracker as it has already picked up quite a few "top notch" US endorsement. Whether we like it or not or agree or not such "top notch" endorsement will enhance the credibility of the highly biases tracker all over the world and will become the de-facto reference source.

Somethings are not so easily ignored and this campaign is one of them. It is a simple thing to do not costing much but for co-ordination and a database. GOI could still do it while the agenda building is still in early stages.

GOI does not have to go to the town with it to realize the benefits. They just have to build and make it available to snatch the initiative back for that highly biased tracker. Even now when folks counter the narrative with ground reports, the push back they get is that all such reports are "un-verified" and hence "un-reliable" and therefore not worthy of being counted. Once the source is a GOI database it will be impossible to dismiss it as "un-verified" or "un-reliable"! As simple as that. Here I am thinking of countering the "foreign" anti-India/Yindu busybodies.

Indian busybodies on Indian channels don't matter that much. Infact, such campaigns end up indirectly benefiting Modi! The latest "Dara hau Slams" is the latest that has the potential to swing a few more votes for Modi/BJP. Ordinary folks fed up with such baised campaign have started their own "Dara hau Slams" documenting for all the exact opposite situations on the ground. This campaign too will backfire just like the previous ones.

Does anyone here have connections to get this to the right ears within GOI?

Former R&AW Officers Accuse Ex-VP Hamid Ansari Of ‘Damaging Intelligence Operations’ In Iran; Ask Modi To Take Action

Former intelligence officers of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) have reiterated serious allegations against ex-Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, accusing him of “damaging R&AW operations” while he was serving as India’s Ambassador to Iran between 1990 and 1992, reports Sunday Guardian.

They now want Prime Minister Narendra Modi to become involved in the matter, telling him in their complaint that Ansari passed on information about R&AW’s intelligence operations in Iran to Iranian authorities and the Iranian intelligence agency SAVAK, with the latter on four occasions abducting Indian diplomatic personnel.

The former R&AW officers assert that Ansari shirked his duty towards the nation when these incidents occurred by not revealing the full extent of the involvement of SAVAK to the Indian government.

It is also alleged that after he got to know that Indian Intelligence were maintaining a watch on the activities of Kashmiri youths who were travelling to Qom, Iran and receiving arms training, Ansari forwarded the information about the same and the name of the officer handling it to the Iranian Foreign Office who then gave it to SAVAK.

The officer in question was taken into captivity by the Iranian Intelligence following this.

These allegations were first made back in 2017, when the Intelligence officers first tried to get Modi to take action in the matter.

After seeing local news media stop collecting and publishing such incidents, I have been asking for the same for long long time. BJP/RSS doesn’t seem to be interested in it for some reason that I can’t understand. Not sure about other Hindu organizations. Local journalists still run into incidents but they don’t get even one day of coverage or add to any stats.

Opindia has described some of my points pretty well in:

https://www.opindia.com/2019/07/when-a- ... me-for-us/

Having your local Hindus ready for oncoming violence is of a key to nullify threats of violence. You can’t be found as sitting ducks. Even if you want to run, you need to know where and how. Present generation is so fixed in front of the electronics that they don’t even know how far they are away from the danger; who lives in next street over; where next wall is to be climbed; which wall that I know I am capable of climbing; where to hide; which door to close; geography of the town; what can I swing from stick to cricket bat; coordinations between local youth between each neighborhoods; etc.

NCP leader arrested in Gadchiroli IED blast case that killed 15 policemen, NIA to take over investigation
On May 1, a civilian vehicle carrying 15 Gadchiroli police personnel which was headed for the Purada police station was blown away by Maoists. 15 police personnel and a civilian were killed.

he Kurkheda Tehseel president of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Kailash Ramchandani, was reportedly arrested in the IED blast case in Gadchiroli in which 15 policemen and a civilian were killed in May. In addition to this, the blast case will be handed over to the National Investigating Agency (NIA) by the local police.

On May 1, a civilian vehicle carrying 15 Gadchiroli police personnel which was headed for the Purada police station after being informed by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Shailesh Kale of an incident of arson committed by Maoists a few kilometres from Purada was blown away by an IED blast. All 15 police personnel and a civilian lost their lives in the incident.

Investigating the case, the Gadchiroli police had obtained their first big success in arresting senior Naxal leaders Narmada and Kiran. According to the inputs provided by them and the technical evidence available, the police arrested Dilip Hidami, Parsaram Tulvi, Somnath Madavi, Kisan Hidami and Sukru Gota.

After taking custody of these 5 accused, their interrogation revealed Kurkheda Tehseel President of the NCP, Kailash Ramchandani’s involvement in the IED blast. Kailash owns an Electronics shop and is serving as the district president of the NCP from last several months. The police believe that several other big names might be involved in the blast as well.

The Gadchiroli police will be handing over the probe to the NIA in the next 2-3 days. On being asked why the NIA is being given the probe, the Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Shailesh Balkawde said that the NIA has decided to take up some of the Naxalite cases. “They have also taken some cases in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand as well,” he said.

https://www.firstpost.com/india/narendr ... 50831.html
Narendra Modi's vision for a $5 trillion economy will see the poor play as big a role as the rich
Speaking to party workers at the launch of a nation-wide membership drive in Varanasi on Saturday, he began on a defensive note, saying, “I am not an economist; I do not know the ABC of economics.”

However, his vision was anything but defensive. Using economic jargon – and simplifying it for the uninitiated – Modi drew up an economic plan that inverts the existing top-down model to a bottom-up movement where all Indians, especially the poor, would be asked to invest in the dream of achieving the target of a $5 billion economy by 2022.
While highlighting how he would make the poor the very pivot of his new budget and his economic vision, Modi refrained from promising impossible financial sops to the poor. Instead, he exhorted “every individual, every family, every village, every panchayat, every taluka and every district” to work on increasing their earnings to contribute their mite to the making of a $5 trillion economy by 2022, when the country will complete 75 years of freedom.
“You will not get a better life without working for it,” he said, while elaborating on a Sanskrit aphorism, “Even a lion will not get his meal unless he hunts”.
-There will be no endless cycle of helping the poor to keep them poor forever; and
-It is not open-ended commitment like the Congress’ garibi hatao of 1971. It comes with the deadline of the year 2022.

Modi is a big believer in changing mindsets. So his war on poverty would be incomplete if the policy war on poverty were not accompanied with an equally strong psychological attack on it. And this war on mindsets is not new. It is as old as Modi's tryst with governance.
“Poverty is not to be relished any longer. It is not a virtue,” he said while elaborating on the steps the government has undertaken to eliminate it.

He talked about the “size of the cake” and how its enlargement would benefit every individual. “If the size of the cake increases, everyone’s share in it will increase proportionately” a ready example of which is China after pursuing Deng Xiaoping’s aggressive liberalisation for three decades.
In his second term, Modi is intent on unleashing India’s economic potential to create opportunities rather than following the beaten path of pandering to the poor through the usual rhetoric and doles. Unlike his first term, in which he was tentative after resistance to his land acquisition (amendment) ordinance and the Opposition’s relentless effort to brand him as “pro-rich”, Modi 2.0, it seems, will be charting a different economic course in which people’s welfare would be integral to pursuing robust growth but populism would be kept at bay.

But the single biggest message is that in Modi’s new India, the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid will have as much role in the ambitious march to a $5 trillion economy as the top. If the first term was about delivering basic necessities to the poor, the second will be about pulling them out of the pit.

Looks like BJP/RSS is focusing exclusively on social media. And to be frank it is also very tough for BJP/RSS to ensure their view point gets articulated in main stream media outlets. In a KL context, the main stream media is clearly working on an agenda which favours RoL and RoP. The Hindus were also happy with this arrangement until Sabari Mala happened. It was then many Hindus were even aware of the BJP's TV channel and actually started watching it. Now that the issue is in suspended animation, that channel is slowly getting ignored.

The Supreme Court judge was quite brutal on GoKL when he heard the petitions from the Orthodox sect. The Supreme Court verdict to hand over the churches was given in the year 2017, Sabari Mala verdict came later. Yet the CPI(M) and the North Kerala mafia tried to target the Hindu religion, and its temples. Now the judge has clearly said that they will summon the Chief Secretary and put him inside, if the verdict is not executed on the ground. The Jacobite sect for sure would create a riot; and I am sure it would not be a very peaceful show. The Orthodox & Jacobite sects have been at each other's throat for quite some time. And in one of their common churches the annual festival is now more like a "police sponsored festival". In Malayalam we say - "Iruttadi" (getting whacked by anonymous people in the night), the commies can expect that to happen from multiple quarters. The Supreme Court has been harsh on GoKL on two issues; this church issue and on the demolition of apartment blocks in eco-sensitive areas. Looks like there are also some plans to get the North Kerala based CPI(M) mafia to start fighting amongst themselves. Looks like by the time for the next state level elections, the game would fully play out.

Looks like Yeddy & Co will have to relax in KA for some more time. The "seculars" (INC and JD(S)) seems to have got their act together. The entire cabinet except Jr. Gowdru and Dy.CM has resigned and portfolios would be re-shuffled. INC planning to take some legal actions against MLAs hiding in Mumbai. So the cooalition government may be able to totter around for some more time.

My ask was since 80s to carry on this data collection. BJP/RSS has the lot of ground workers to collect it. Idea was that the stats and pics would awaken Hindus falling asleep. Hindus were getting used to low level atrocities as new normal to the point where local newspaper stopped publishing atrocities. Stats and charts overtime would have showed the reality to many. Essentially I have been looking for the next batch of Goel forever. Pretty much no local journalist tracked atrocities through FIR to court judgements.

The governor will reject the rejig. He can say that the minority government does not have the majority. Both the independents have given letter of support to governor.

Thanks ...

The latest sickular campaign to shame the yindus for the Jharkhand incident, has provoked a massive on-line campaign. Now yindus are documenting and spreading every bit of anti-yindu violence as they can glean form vernacular sources. I am seeing content like never before and the number of people re-tweeting is also a grade higher than before. Some have started compiling and circulating a proper list of violent anti-yindu acts. At least some ready reference is being generated.

Instead of unifying people this, i.e the sickular offense and the yindu defense, will only polarize the electorate further and will directly undercut the sickulars.

Yes, I was also thinking on the same lines. But we must also note that these MLAs have submitted resignation to the Speaker's office and also collected a receipt. So technically they have resigned, so don't know if threats of disqualification would work now. The speaker is making an excuse that resignations have to be tendered to him in person. As I write this the trouble shooter D.K Shiva kumar is rushing to meet the MLAs holed up at Softel Hotel, Mumbai. And the MLAs are planning to change their location .

Can the Gov do that? KA government (i.e Jr. Gowdru as CM) is also planning to approach the governor asking him to allow them to postpone the monsoon assembly session, so that they can sort out this mess. Looks like with the speaker also using the "casting vote" the government may still be able to pass the muster.

TERRIFYING. Muslim mob flags a bus, thrashes the driver, breaks windows, is about to set it on fire, when some occupants plead they are also Muslim.

The Mob separates them, douses the bus with petrol. Fortunately, some elders prevent a tragedy.

Dicey situation all around, no matter the saazish of foreign puppeteers, very close to the start of another riot and many more will occur given the pattern where they were almost successful.
The only way to calm things down at the moment is more leeway from the majority for existing and tightening of the l&o in general.(maybe the PM can apologize again, I dunno)
Taken this with the impending violence in kl, hm has his work cut-out.cow lynchings are here to stay, whether genuine or forced, irritants can start their mischief at the same time.

The protest against the desecration of Durga Mandir in Hauz Qazi, Delhi at the beginning of this month has taken a national turn. A peaceful protest against the temple vandalism was organised under the leadership of Hindu organisations on July 5 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

This peaceful protest had turned violent when a Muslim mob intercepted the procession and started mercilessly beating up the Hindus who were participating in the rally near the Inamulla building in Dehradun. The tension escalated when the police forcefully stopped the activists of the Hindu organisations, who were moving towards the building after they got the information of the incident. It was alleged that the police took no action against the miscreants.
