And confirming that: 7000 troops return to their usual quarters.
Govt eases out troops deployment in Kashmir with ‘immediate effect’
The ministry of home affairs on Monday ordered the withdrawal of 72 companies or approximately 7000 personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) with “immediate effect” and deploy them to their respective posts.
They included troops from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Earlier, around 20 companies were withdrawn from Kashmir and deployed in Assam in the second week of December.
Bhy 72, hain?
And.. Situation NAAAAAAAAAARMAAAAAAL
Apart from the regular 61 battalions or nearly 62,000 personnel of CRPF, the Centre had rushed 70 more battalions—around 75,000 personnel—to J&K in August and September for the law and order duties and counter-insurgency operations.
“The situation is very much under control in J&K and things are back to normal. The operations against terror groups will continue and law and order situation will be monitored on a regular basis,” an official with the home ministry said.
According to the government, not even a single death has happened due to police firing in law and order related incidents in J&K during this period.

Didn't they silently push SC/ST reservations that is to expire or some clauses of them in 2020 to another decade, possibly due to three-seventy. There is some noise of cutting for creamy layers but they didn't take it up either.

Equality for all is pipe dream for now. May be they can drive towards it, like throwing away minoritism in Government policies, laws, and judiciary (RTE, temples, Sabarimala rights, etc). Along with throwing away pseudo-secularism, getting back corrupt money from Swiss/Caymen/etc, cutting interest rates further for SMBs and encouraging to start more of them, and a lot more investments in domestic MIC which can increase both jobs and security, are somethings that can be very doable to win from both Hindutva and economy point of view for next term.

The other thing is that "situation is back to normal" in JKL with the netas still in luxury vacation resorts. This is the new normal? Abdullah/Mufti types forgotten?
But appetite of citjen is roused. May be the best time to push through something that renders all the reservations kaput in one shot. Supersedes all other laws. You know, it could be something as simple as "Paperwork Reduction Act of 2020", like Ronald Reagan did.

Delete all questions about caste/religion/tribe from all forms in educational and central job recruitment and promotion. Require same marks/grades for passing, for everyone.

CAA riots ended surprisingly fast, with lots of oppn. rowdies facing serious charges, UP going after them for damages, SC/ HCs acting in sync with govt, and social media reaction surprisingly powerful in support of govt. I was astonished at the speed with which those Krautistani "students" were expelled, and how that message has spread. Oppn is in full retreat and rout, despite all the bravado.

Compare 21 dead, mostly One Commyoonities in UP, to the 2000+ killed in post-BM-demolition, and all the violence in Middle East against Indians, in 1992. The report about Dubai expelling Malloos who agitated against CAA was esp. interesting.

Are the riots really over, or just not being reported anymore?

The Hunatic student's expulsion (recall - "Hun" used to be slang for German) was certainly surprising. Was that a central govt. thingy, or does it imply cooperation of TN's AIADMK govt.?

UBCN scanned various channels. All reports of riots are over 24 hrs old, and they are into rehashing and regurgitating about How Women Came Out To Protest etc. Assom may not be over, considering that some of the Army withdrawal from JKL was to send them to Assom. But elsewhere if it was burning it would be on Twitter. Can't believe that MSM will remain silent otherwise.
Hunatic expulsion was because he was an IITM exchange student. Central property, once he returned from Bengaluru. Amazing coordination of visa types with polis. Orders may have come from On High.
The other Hunatic who held the placard saying: "I am German. Your grandkids will be sorry" has not yet been expelled, he just got panned on social media.

If he was an exchange student, I'm sure the Germans will be itching for a chance to send the Indian side of the exchange back home to India. Oh well, that's how it goes.

My take is that the riots have subsided because the opposition and BIF forces have got their lust to see BJP humiliated temporarily quenched after BJP's Jharkand debacle. This is contrast to my expectations that a Jharkand win would have further mobilized opposition to continue rioting. But as I said, seeing BJP on the back foot, opposition has backed off for the moment. Lets see how long this lasts.

Regarding JH election results, all these post-mortem explanations like "Das made unpopular decisions", "tickets were not properly distributed" etc are of doubtful validity. It is surprising to see educated and smart BRF wallahs waste time with this half-cooked stuff fed by media outlets. The average mediawallah is of average intelligence and doesn't know any more than a car salesman knows how to make a car.

If the government was that much unpopular, the vote share would not increase from 31% in 2014 to 33% this time.

It was simple electoral math this time around. BJP decided to contest alone and look at post-poll alliances if needed. The other side formed an alliance since they would be in deep doo-doo otherwise. The math did not work out for BJP at the end of the day.

I already explained the strategy, which is to keep increasing vote share till the other side is overwhelmed irrespective of alliances.

One can certainly argue that the vote share increase may have been miscalculated this time, or that "it could have been higher if not for unpopular decisions", or that the party decided to go alone (instead of with AJSU) even though it knew that it would likely not get enough votes this time. ''

Again, the alliance with AJSU was explored but it was decided that BJP should grow its base and give experience to its workers and candidates rather than negotiate seat sharing.

It seems like after any state election loss, some "fair weather" BJP supporters start predictable sermons (fix the economy, stop religious nonsense, etc). Same things happened between 2015-2018, but there was a temporary "reset" after May 2019. Seems like old habits die hard and are kicking in again.

As for the people of Jharkhand, hope they enjoyed the development and good governance that took place in the last 5 years, and hope they don't get royally fawked by JMM-Congi-RJD thugbandhan for next 5 years. You get what you voted for.

That's all, folks. Time to understand and move on.

- Ayodhya temple in 4 months, according to Amit Shah.
- UCC ?
- CAA implementation ? NRC ?
- Other upcoming legislations ?
- How long should one let J&K antinationals rot in house arrest ?
- Situation in WB

Please discuss such important matters.

eklavya wrote: So, no BJP alliance with JDU for Bihar 2020 assembly election then?
Quite possible. It all depends on whether the seat sharing negotiations/demands of JDU, Paswan et al make sense or too much of a pain.

In Jharkhand it doesn't seem to have made sense - all three contested independently.

In BH, the BJP has contested without JDU last time as well...and JDU took two years to come around to forming a post-poll alliance (maybe a world record ?) :rotfl:

This time it is quite possible that the two will contest independently but form post-poll alliance. I doubt that JDU will go back to the UPA. On the BJP side, in the 2015 state election it had a huge vote share increase of 8% (reaching about 25%) while that of every other party dropped. So if the party number-crunchers estimate that the vote share this time would be over 30%, it would indicate the party is strong enough to contest on its own.

1. BIF do not backoff, infact they will push and push till they meet a wall or achieve their goals. What has stopped them is overt and cover GOI action. Example of one such action is confiscation and auctioning of asset to pay for damages.

Why do Sena MLAs and MPs support citizenship law going against UT/Pawar/Sonia's line? Because their core voters do!

2. Even if BJP is on the back-foot, it is tactical. Modi hasn't taken NRC off the table not the opposition and their supporters don't believe that to be the case.

Keeping all other aspects aside, what is the practical gain to the nation from CAA, especially over a more pressing need like a population control law.

We certainly don't need any more people in this country, the ones already here are having it tough enough with not enough jobs and poor quality of life. Why bother with refugees at this point of time when clearly those residing here should have first and only right of resources.

Did you miss the cutoff date being 31st Dec 2014? Shouldn't that make it clear? How are NEW refugees going to register to have arrived BEFORE 31st Dec 2014?

BJP is missing majority on its own by 1 or 2% votes. In the next election cycle, aided by anti incumbency, it will hopefully get the additional votes. I don't see any reason to doubt what NM and AS are doing.

JDU is a spent force. BJP will win more seats that JD(U) even in the case of an alliance with BJP. It is MH waiting to repeat all over again.

no truer words than these have yet been spoken on the debacle of India's "transfer of power" from the perfidious britshits to their congi/commie/malsi/xtian collaborators.

If the people do not see an agenda in this, an agenda that has allowed vested interests to dictate the tone, the contours and the direction of Indian "independence", then they have already been brainwashed.

all three of the mistakes have had widespread anti Hindu implications and ramifications and have successfully allowed all these agenda driven groups to control and shape the national narrative as dictated by the BIF.

Noone seems to notice how hatred of non-believers is/has-become part of essential/fundamental part of exclusive ideologies - and these have been made compulsory part of leftist propaganda, thereby creating mixture of religion and state and pseudo-left and what is part and parcel of life and politics.

Everything however is blamed on money is root of evil etcetera and that's where intellectual results seems to stop for making meaningful progressive rhetoric.

SAD has a vested interested in not allowing the BJP to grow, come what may. They are slowly going down the CBN path of self destruction.

At the same time, they all want heavy duty ministries at the center to do what the DMK did using maran, raja and kanimohzi to loot the public

Congress claims NRC is its baby, BJP 'befooling' people by politicising issue Congress communications in-charge Randeep Surjewala. (File)

The Congress today staked ownership of Assam’s National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercise while accusing the BJP of “befooling” the people by politicising it, and asserted that it would stand with every Indian citizen who has been left out in the draft list.

“The NRC is a baby of the Congress party,” Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said after the issue was discussed at length today in the meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body.

At the meeting, it was said that the NRC was a consequence of the Assam Accord signed by former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1985, to which the party is committed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX8LmYj6tck

The Congress also accused the BJP of politicising the issue for electoral gains and to deflect public attention from government’s “failures” including bank scams.

The party cited figures provided by the government in Parliament claiming that while Modi government in last four years deported only 1,822 foreign nations, the Congress-led UPA government had deported 82,728 foreigners (Bangladeshis) between 2005 and 2013.

Surjewala said the NRC process was initiated by the party and after preparing elaborate framework, it put in place modalities, identifying and affixing processes and building a consensus among the stakeholders.

He said the previous Congress governments in Assam and at the Centre had initiated the NRC process in 2005 to identify the foreigners, who had illegally entered India.

Surjewala said that the Congress government in 2009 headed by Manmohan Singh sanctioned Rs 489 crore and proceeded to appoint 25,000 enumerators for the NRC process.

It was the Congress Government of Assam, headed by Tarun Gogoi, he said, which completed 80 per cent of NRC process by May 2016, and the exercise is being monitored by the Supreme Court since August 2014.

“The Congress party will ensure that no Indian citizens is deprived of his legitimate right. The Congress stands committed to help and assist every Indian Citizen in this endeavour,” he said.

Surjewala said the Congress reiterates and reaffirms its commitment to the ‘Assam Accord’ as a principal framework and supports the NRC process.

Every Indian citizen must be given full opportunity to establish their credentials and prove their citizenship in “a just, equitable and humane manner, without any fear or favour”, the party said.

“The CWC noted with grave concern the deliberate and diabolic agenda of the BJP to play politics to use NRC as a divisive and emotional tool for misleading the people. This is being done to deflect nation’s attention from the colossal failures, mega scams like Rafale, bank frauds and others as also betrayal of people by the Modi Government on various promises,” he said.

Surjewala said the CWC called upon Congress leaders and workers, both in Assam and in the rest of the country, to “expose the acts of omission and commission being committed by Modi Government and not allow the Government to escape accountability”.

The meeting, chaired by party president Rahul Gandhi, was attended by top party leaders including former prime minister Manmohan Singh, A K Antony, Ghulam Nabi Aza, Mallikarjun Kharge, Ahmed Patel and Ashok Gehlot. However, former party president Sonia Gandhi was unable to attend it.

“We are also aware that there are multiple anomalies in the final draft NRC, leaving out 40 lakh people comprising of indigenous Assamese people, Hindu Bengalis, Nepalis, gorkhas, tea tribes, religious minorities, Indian citizens from other states domiciled in Assam,” he told reporters.

To a question on BJP Amit Shah making it a poll issue in Rajasthan, he said “fake jumlas (rhetoric), empty steam and a divisive mindset’ is the DNA of Shah” and asked him to stop “lying” on deportation of foreigners

“Amit Shah should now apologise to the nation for manufacturing lies and misleading the country purely for political vote garnering in a sinister fashion,” he said.

Responding to another question, he accused the BJP and the Modi Government of “duplicity, deception and double speak” and dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah to clarify their stance on Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.

“On one side, PM and BJP President are shedding crocodile tears on NRC and claiming deportation of foreigners but on the other side, Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 seeks to give citizenship to foreigners undoing the entire process of NRC,” he said.

Surjewala said instead of befooling people, Modi, Shah and Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal must answer whether they support the NRC process or whether they support Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016, saying both are directly in conflict with each other and NRC Process will fail once citizenship is given to everyone as per the Citizenship Amendment Bill.

PM Modi,Shri Amit Shah & Assam CM must answer whether they support the NRC process or whether they support Citizenship Amendment Bill,2016 as both are directly in conflict with each other & NRC Process will fail once citizenship is given to everyone as per Citizenship Bill 10/

— Randeep Singh Surjewala (@rssurjewala) August 4, 2018

“PM Modi, Amit Shah and Sonowal cannot fool all the people all the time. Time has come for them to answer to people,” he said.

The Congress had invited Assam PCC chief Ripun Bora, CLP leader Debabrata Saikia and other Congress MPs from Assam to speak on NRC issue. Former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi also spoke on the issue.

This amounts to punishment without due process. The rule of law seems no longer to matter in U.P. The Chief Minister threatened revenge but revenge is not justice. Does he know this?

I met these students of Ashoka Univ at the #NRC_CAA_Protests. They dismiss the idea of being politically affiliated or backed. They are scathing about the Modi government & scathing about "Oligarchy led Congress" This is a people's protest, they say "India needs a new opposition"

Students & Intellectuals are facade to cover up the real protestors who unleashed violence at behest of opposition poilitical parties. No amount of tricks can now salvage it.
https://twitter.com/PTI_News/status/120 ... uote]Press Trust of India @PTI_News

UP Bolice has pasted wanted posters all over to help identify stone-pelters and rioters with a reward scheme attached. Result: In Azamgarh, 16 out of 36 have been identified already with name and address.

This is what has made the rioters wary apart from the threat to auction their properties to recover the damages.

And beepul think, BIF, out of the goodness of their heart have pulled back!
and the next time they'll put on masks and throw stones. Our stone-throwing friends in Mangalore showed the way with covering their faces. Wonder how will they tackle that.

Yogi must get these guys to pay up or let them enjoy a holiday in jail. A warning for the next set of protestors protesting for whatever goddammed reason if they start breaking public property.

And for those guys who came out with guns and and shot the police, no slack cut for them. They go to jail ...if they surrender. And if no surrender, options exists with UP police who has shown some familiarity with the encounter business. Once people show a willingness to shoot police, it means that they will shoot any common citizen- cannot leave such people roam around free.

Govt is fully empowered to give citizenship to any alien, of any faith & has been doing so freely. CAA isn’t needed for that. Govt can give citizenship to any minority refugees without It. CAA is meant to exclude one faith rather than protect the rest.
https://twitter.com/AartiTikoo/status/1 ... uote]Aarti Tikoo Singh @AartiTikoo

There is something called positive discrimination in Indian Constitution to address, say caste persecution. We don’t call that “Brahmanical filtering”. #CAA does exactly that—it just lowers the no. of years to apply for citizenship as against other refugees. So what’s the issue?
These jornos don't get it!

GOI CAN'T grant citizenship to "illegals" under current laws!! IF they are caught the ONLY option with the GOI is to deport them. How come jurons don't know that bit?

Deportation is ok for "economic migrants" but how does one deport "religious minorities" that have fled "persecution" without putting them at double risk? Plus they would have sold property, etc and thrown away their past life for ever AND deportation carry its own penatly.

CAA is to create a path to citizenship for "religious minorities" that have fled persecution and cannot go back without risking their honor and life.

This Coupta is a total gasbag and a propagandist. A simple google search on the legal position of "illegals" in India would have clarified the issue as it did for me.

OK ... someone pointed it out of Coupta.

Dhananjay Baijal @DeejayBaj

Could you clarify how exactly? As per Section 5, citizenship by registration cannot be given to illegal migrants. The CAA, essentially removes the taint of illegality from a class of people that the Govt believes to be persecuted religious minorities.

INC forgot to cry about lack of population control mechanisms with this milestone. Sounds like that Congoons could not get this done for various corruption schemes that came with each death.
