Faced with orders from the ICJ to review Jadhav's case in the light of Pakistan breaching the Vienna Convention, Islamabad plans to use third-country diplomatic assistance to explore the possibility of sending him home in return for an official admission from New Delhi that he was engaged in espionage, sources close to the Pakistan government have told Firstpost.

Jadhav, an Islamabad-based Pakistani official told Firstpost, is being held in an Inter-Services Intelligence-run facility in Rawalpindi, rather than a prison, even though he is awaiting execution.

Islamabad, one senior Pakistani official said, hopes the offer will help bring about wider India-Pakistan talks, derailed since 2018. “The army understands that Pakistan’s economy cannot be subjected to the risk of another military crisis with India”, the official said. “They see talks as a way to finding some tactical breathing space.”

The deal Pakistan hopes to make builds on a secret diplomatic offer earlier made to New Delhi. Documents submitted to the International Court of Justice show that Pakistan had first offered to extradite Jadhav in a letter dated 30 October, 2017, written soon after India moved the International Court of Justice against his conviction.

“Without prejudice to the proceedings so far”, the letter stated, “the Government of Pakistan is prepared to consider any request for extradition that the Government of India may make in the event that Commander Jadhav is considered to be a criminal under the law of India.”

Put in plain language, the letter constituted an offer to return Jadhav to India, if New Delhi accepted his complicity in terrorism against Pakistan and was prepared to subject him to a criminal-law process.

It's not clear.

One BSP MP has resigned and joined BJP. But he is no longer an MP...the seat just falls vacant.

Two more BSP MPs seem ready to switch. Now that BSP is down to 3 in the RS, it is possible they can actually switch over as MPs...just like the TDP guys did last month.

Don't know who else. Rumors that some SP wallahs may also switch...but unless it is a majority of the 12 MPs, they cannot switch unless they resign. So the seats fall vacant.

Vacant seats can be helpful since they bring the house strength down.....but with NDA being only 115 in a house of 240, need a awful lot of new vacancies (11) to gain a temporary majority.

Praveen Swami pushing Paki lifafa stuff as usual. Probably preparing the ground for an intense pressure campaign by the usual suspects to force the GOI to accept the Paki ''offer' - they probably want to push GOI into a lose-lose situation where either choice has major PR pitfalls.

Anti Right Wing Bias By SM Giants? Calls Grow For Algorithmic Accountability Bill, All You Need To Know
Technocrat and Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Wednesday (17 July) called for an “Algorithmic Accountability Bill” to check for and prevent algorithm level bias in social media platforms like Twitter.

What Is The Issue

While speaking in the Upper House, Chandrasekhar argued that a trend has emerged on social media platforms to either suppress or deny “certain conversations” and at the same time amplify other conversations.

Chandrasekhar continued by alleging that these algorithms which are reportedly stifling a section of social media voices are curtailing Article 19(1) of the Indian Constitution which guarantees freedom of expression - with reasonable restrictions. He added that the said “restrictions” have not yet been made public by social media platforms.

Chandrasekhar claimed that whenever any individual raises the issue of suppression of conversations, the social media giants hide behind the “use of algorithms”. He added that these algorithms applied to a particular social media platform are ultimately designed by humans who are prone to biases.
Instead of ranting like Trump, figure out the enemy operating mode and tackle him legally.

How Tribals in Jharkhand Are Being Saffronised
Jharkhand is witnessing a silent but an intense religious war between the RSS, the Sarna tribals and church.
Tarique Anwar 30 May 2019
Jharkhand Are Being Saffronised
Ranchi (Jharkhand): “Are tribals Hindus by faith?” this reporter asked Surya Narayan Hembrum – a resident of Mali village at Poraiyahat Block in Godda district – who had just got free after performing rituals at a local, newly constructed Shiva temple. Showing no doubt about it, he replied, “We belong to the Santhal tribe and the word Santhal (Saint+Asthal) means a place of saints – who believe in worshipping and avoid having non-vegetarian food.”

20190517_122806.jpg

The word Sanatan and Sarna are the same – he said – explaining why the Sarnas are closer to Hinduism than any other religion. He says Sarna worship place has a small stone in the shape of Shiv linga, which is also worshipped in temples. “We worship both,” he claims, adding that some of the Hindu festivals such as Durga Puja are celebrated by the villagers with the same fervor as any Hindu. “Tribals are not Christians, but Hindus or Sanatans,” he claimed.

Jharkhand is witnessing a silent but an intense religious war between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the Sarna tribals and the church. The battle has been intensified by the state’s anti-conversion law – the Jharkhand Freedom of Religion Act 2017, which makes the tribal-dominated state, the sixth in the country to put curbs on conversion. Any person found guilty of conversion through force or allurement will be liable for punishment that includes a jail term of three years and a fine of Rs 50,000.

In an awareness camp at Shikaripara in Dumka, an RSS functionary asked a group of villagers in their local Santhali language, “Can you desert your mother who has given you birth after nine months of sufferings?” “No, never,” the crowd responded in unison. “Then why do you convert to Christianity by leaving your Hindu mother? We are Hindus, let us keep this identity intact,” he thundered.
Tribal rights activist Xavier Dias says this has been going on for a long time. Earlier, he said, it was more Sanskritisation of Adivasis but now it is their saffronisation for vote bank.

“Temples funded by big businessmen and politicians are being constructed in tribal villages. There is competition regarding who will build bigger temples. Because of continuous brainwashing, a good number of tribals have accepted that they are Hindus. But Santhals – who are strong and stick to their root and culture – have not so far accepted Hinduism,” he said.

In context of the election results – where a huge section of tribals have voted in favour of the BJP – he said that the saffron party has an advantage of having a huge cash economy. “Adivasis have the moral sensibility that they will work for the BJP if they have taken money. Christianisation of tribals became successful because it came with quality education and health services. If there is an attempt to saffronise tribals to take their land, it won’t get success. The attempt, if fails to bring development along, it will collapse,” he added.

Not strict enough and needs to be implemented in pretty much all places. Don’t know any place where buffer zones aren’t increasing. Sale of properties need lot more than govt officials that are bribed so easily. Also needed to have retroactive invalidations.

https://www.deshgujarat.com/2019/07/08/ ... bill-2019/

The amendment bill regarding disturbed area act ( The Gujarat Prohibition of Transfer of Immovable Property and Provision for Protection of Tenants from Eviction from Premises in Disturbed Area Act 1991) provides for ban on transfer in immovable property in such areas and also for protection to the tenants in such areas which are generally communally sensitive ones. It has also changed the rules regarding permissions etc.

The state government had received complaints about misuse of loop-holes of the existing act and the amendment bill was prepared to take of care of it. Complaints were received that in disturbed areas in cities like Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara etc builders and other were getting the immovable properties transferred in the name of re-development of the property and using power of attorney.

Section 6C of amendment bill proposes 3 to 5 year jail and fine of Rs. 1 lakh or equal to value of jantri of related property whichever is higher in case of breach of law. As per section 16A of proposed law, a monitoring committee to be formed to study the disturbed area.

On Richa Bharti's case, the local police in Ranchi submits an application to the judicial magistrate that the bail condition namely, that Richa Bharti distribute four copies of Quran is difficult to implement in practice. They request modification mind you, not withdrawal. The judge relented and said she need not distribute but instead donate one copy to the local Anjuman e Islamiya and three copies to the local library. Richa Bharti has refused!

Richa Bharti need not give Quran to any one, not even the local Anjuman peacefuls. Jharkhand court drops ‘donate Quran’ condition for bail to Ranchi woman over offensive post. This report also has an image of the actual court order. On the bolded part. This would be only to save the H&D of the court and the magistrate. They got the police (Investigating Officer is from the police) to "plead" that bail conditions are not implementable, and he passes it to the A.P.P who again "pleads" with the Magistrate. Now considering all these "please..please..please" he magnanimously changes the bail condition. What actually needs to be done is to send the magistrate for some referesher course; from perhaps folks like Su.Swamy.

Both Helo and Tiktok are of chinese origin. However, there are still headlines out there from usual places that RSS is trying to get these anti national enemy's apps banned.

Government asks TikTok, Helo to answer queries on anti-national messages on the apps or face ban
https://www.opindia.com/2019/07/governm ... -face-ban/
The action was taken after Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), an affiliate of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, had complained to the Prime Minister about the apps. They had raised serious allegations that both apps were being used for anti-national activities. The companies have been given time until 22nd July 2019 to respond to the allegations.

Abusive Actor Ajaz Khan has been arrested by Mumbai Police Crime Branch for controversial videos he had posted on social media. He had posted many videos on various social media sites provoking violence and mob lynching of Hindus by Muslims, and mocking police for not being able to catch Muslims who indulge in communal violence.

Is BJP pushing its own people going to make it all better? Does it depend on who these "people" are? The selection process?

Don't mean to be rude, but we are past the point of advice like "should grow a spine" etc.

First it was BJP should come to power, and all will be good. Now ig is BJP should change into something it never was and never will be. Or there should be an imaginary new right-wing party that will come to power in, what, 5 years? defeating BJP, congress, communists, MIM, and all regional parties.

We (democratic, liberal Hindus) have cultural and historical baggage that keeps us from taking back our country. Our enemies have had a massive head start on us, and we haven't even begun to work out how to catch up and beat them, though we have the most raw intellectual and material resources, and the best opportunity ever, to do so.

No one is going to remake themselves just to fight our battles for us. Modi was never the right-wing Hindu anti-Pakistan warrior / monster that he is painted as. He just wants good governance and limit to paki terrorism. That's what he always has been.

Pallavi Ghosh is going hammer & tongs against Zero Loss Sibal.

Not being snarky. I'm sure I missed it, but is there some link between Modi's choices and Tiranga TV problems? Weren't they always shady, running escort services in UK or something? Same being true of the NDTV and other gangs.

Do you mean, Modi is wise enough to not getting his hands dirty, letting media thieves fall by their own karma?
But NYT et al, along with tukde-tukde gang (TTG) surely blame Modi somehow for doing something to media, no matter what happens or doesn't happen, so I don't see much political mileage in taking a hands-off approach.

For the rest of us, is Modi really doing something (omission or commission) to the media? I am aware of cancelling GOI ads to The Hindu. It probably didn't have the impact it once did, and for all we know, may have been quietly restored after some back-channel discussion.

The problems are very tough and complex, and the BJP GOI is the only powerful institution in sight that could do something. So I can understand the sense of frustration.

GOI won't do what we want, of course, and we should grow up and become organized on our own. I would say it starts with cultivating patience / understanding and eschewing abuse. For myself, I'm trying to follow my own advice.

May be BJP Govts at state level should set up a committee to monitor constitutional violations by judges and police. May be that's how we dilute the power of judiciary. Give legal sanction to monitor their performance
IMO it's deeply problematic in the first place that social media posters have to look over their shoulders for police to come after them. This is nothing but slavery.

Secondly, I am willing to bet that BJP governments aren't going to set up any committee like the one you are talking about. Ever. There is no political benefit in curbing the police state at all. And it is not a policy priority for Modi.

So, what now? Are some of us willing and able to set up a citizens' cell to do this kind of monitoring, acquire the skills and resources to make it influential and powerful in a short timeframe? This is roughly how the TTG (tukde tukde gang) operates, and this is how they are afraid we will operate, and fight to prevent us from even thinking about it.

One thing is for sure, we can vent on social media as much as like but at the end it is BJP and its affiliated organizations who come to help distressed hindus on ground. Yes, Richa Bharti incident happened in BJP ruled state but practically BJP cannot control each and every thing happens in local police station. But when it happened it was BJP leaders who stationed at her house and provided all possible support. There was absolute no support to her from Congress and its likes.

There is a concern and sometimes it is legitimate that BJP doesn't do as much as it can or should for hindus in India. And we as nationalists should keep up the pressure. If we don't then who will? I was constantly monitoring SM and there was huge pressure built up by RW on everybody out there. This is a very healthy sign. Both BJP and its supporters shoudn't take each other for granted.

IMHO Modi has done big harm to himself by annoucing 'vishwas(trust)' goal and invited unnecessary scrutiny on each of his action from his own supporters. The last thing BJP supporters want is their nationalist leader resorted to muslim appeasement, the exact same thing they accuse congress of. He needs to understand BJP and RSS has only slightest chance of winning vishwas of muslims if BJP and RSS heads build babri mosque on the same place as it was and hand over to indian muslims, even then too 100% vishwas is not guaranteed. Otherwise everything else is just dellusional thoughts which are misleading everyone.

I believe there was a US court judgment that Trump is not allowed to block anyone on Twitter because as President, he can't keep public from knowing his views and positions.

Same principle may apply here--Mumbai police Twitter is a public, taxpayer funded facility. They have no right to block anyone, any more than they have a right to block a citizen from coming into the police station and asking for information or reading the public notice board.

It seems to me all the PILs and various weaponized legal instruments are used only by the TTG. Anyone including Hindus can ise and weaponize the same.

It's the supporters themselves who have misconstrued the vishwas goal to mean Muslim appeasement, under the able guidance of the left media using that phrase as ammunition.

Flash back to the elections, and one thing that Modi was repeatedly described in terms of, was people's trust in his ability to get work done. Barkha, Prannoy, even Shekhar Kapur (not Gupta - him too, but I'm referring to Kapur, the movie director) described how a large swathe of rural and urban lower middle class and poor repeatedly, without any prior meme - described how they have seen the low level developmental work done by Modi, and trust him to do more.

People are often cynical of the political class. They all know the promise-donothing-promise cycle of elections. However, it's very rare when during an election cycle, people across a broad spectrum tell different psephological people that they trust one particular political character, and then the election results quite dramatically show a nationwide surge in support for that person.

There's - as far as I know - never been an election where an incumbent came to power through an election with a record turnout, and won by an even bigger margin in an election with an even bigger turnout. This just never happens in politics. Once people get excited about someone new, they almost always tend to lose some that excitement next time around.

There have been two major comparative elections of democratic leaders, where there was a similar behavioral trend, but with some major differences:
1. Reagan won in 1980 by quite a comprehensive margin, defeating incumbent Carter after the Iran crisis. Turnout was decent but not a record, and was in fact lower than the previous election. Four years later he wins by a landslide with a higher turnout, but still not a record.
2. Thatcher won in 1979 by a similar strong margin, with a significant increase in turnout over previous election. Four years later she wins again by a larger margin, but turnout fell.

In comparison, untll 2014, average turnout in India was 58%. The highest ever was 63.5% in 1984, after IG's assassination when RG won by a landslide. In 2014, this record was improved to 66% . In 2019, the turnout record was improved further to 67% . Lots of reasons have been given , but fundamentally, people are engaged in political selection to an extent FAR beyond historical trendline. It reflect the fact that the people trust him and want to ensure he's re-elected. Historically, the Indian population doesn't get excited like this. Even after Kargil, turnout in 1999 was <60%.

So please, stop beating NaMo on the head for stating 'sabha vishwas' - he's good enough a politician to realize than when hundreds of millions say they have vishwas in him, he would be stupid not to acknowledge them by stating that word himself and letting them all know he's heard them. Don't turn it into some distorted appeasement nonsense it never was. If someone in the media claims it, don't be an agent parroting that claim.

How Tribals in Jharkhand Are Being Saffronised

We owe a large debt to our tribal brotherns, now is the time to pay it and make amends. A temple, an RSS shakha, a school and a clinic in every tribal village. Give their kids more mainstream first and last names where needed to help them assimilate with the main stream.

Now we have enough money and power (to restrict) to compete with foreign money bags of church and mosque.

I agree.
What do we want? a war or a favorable result? If later then Trust in Modi; otherwise you will see a whip-back in next (or next to next) election and we will get back to where we started from. He has won two back to back full majority and he is doing things that would change the very nature of the indian animal and outragers want him to focus on warts and symptoms.

This is time for us to sit tight and help, not become bhakts but also not become a nuisance by this premature outrage.

Remember so many people are joining the cause, one mistake and whole thing may come crashing down. This is the number one priority, whether we make the temple today or in 50 years is not that important, what should be, and I believe it is, to converting the way majority of indians thinks, react and argue. Need to give time to Hindu/indic organizations to set deep roots that will pay fruits for generations.

Think long term, a most pathetically anti hindu modi govt is still better than minority appeasing congress govt.

Parliament Enjoys Productivity High as Modi Govt Pushes Through Legislative Agenda
Often synonymous with poor productivity as disruptions and adjournments hamper legislative work, the Parliament has had several sessions that went into overtime ever since the Budget Session, the first of Modi government 2.0, started on June 17.

On day one itself, the Lok Sabha functioned till 6 pm. On June 24, the discussion for motion of thanks to the President’s address continued till 8pm.
Then on July 8, the discussion on the Union Budget which began in the second half of the day continued till 8pm. A day later on July 9, the discussion on general budget was extended till 11pm.

This spree of extended work hours have come at a time when the Modi government is looking to push through its legislative agenda at the very beginning of its second term to get a head start for its policy initiatives. In the first session alone, the government has introduced 18 legislations.
With 10 days still to go, the productivity of the 17th Lok Sabha is highest as it has touched 116 per cent, up from the 109 high of the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014. It will be interesting to see if it can maintain the momentum, unlike the last time.

A comparison of data shows when the UPA took charge in 2004, the first session of the 14th Lok Sabha wasn’t as productive as it worked at just 64 percent. The 15th Lok Sabha’s budget session was more productive at 104 percent as the UPA had returned with a bigger mandate.

First time MP from Tejpur in Assam, Pallab Lochan Das, says many first time-MPs like him have got a chance to speak. “I come at 9.30 am and don’t know when I would go back home. I have raised issues twice in the Zero Hour. First I spoke on revival of tea industry and then raised concerns over the need for RTE act in schools which come under garden management.”

He says that during the two terms he served as an MLA, he never saw the Assam assembly function till so late.

The Prime Minister has also strictly instructed all MPs to participate in discussions and debates and sit through it even if they aren’t speaking. BJP sources said that the PM at the party’s meeting on Monday pulled up ministers who were absent from their roster duties in Parliament.

The greater speed with which legislations are being passed has also invited some criticism, with opposition leaders saying that there is a need for greater scrutiny.

They have pointed that an average of 65-70 per cent bills were referred to standing committees during previous governments, but this has come down to 26 per cent in the last couple of years.
The opposition needs to realize that if they want to demand greater scrutiny, they also need to be an actual credible opposition in the first place. Instead, not a single opposition party can command LOP position for a second Lok Sabha running.

I read today that the LS and RS session has been extended by a week.

Generally there are three such sessions a year.
In next five years we will see total 15 sessions.
LS and RS disruption with MPs rushing the well are a thing of past and the Speaker will summon the Marshal at Arms in future.
And one hope is they ban cell phones in the Parliament as a security measure.

Besides its disrespectful of the voting public to use the cell phone while attending the Parliament.

They are cranking. They are bringing in all the legislations w/o giving any chance to the demoralized opposition. No one is talking about what they are going to do. Modi is quiet. all his cabinet is quiet. Amit Shah is hitting them hard in LS speeches. It is like a well oiled machine. The new speaker is pretty damn good. He has been very effective.

The first 3 years of last Cabinet were wasted with ineffective speakers and Congress majority in RS to block legislation.
The GST was allowed to only later hoping it's implementation would wreak havoc on BJP.
So time for debate was last term. Now pass the legislation and unchain India.
No one here commented on 40 labor laws consolidated into 4 major laws and being passed as part of Budget or money bills.
