KM's are like spoilt brats, hoping to blackmail GoI with the shutdowns. Its best to ignore them. If they are determined to screw their own economy by shutting things down, they should be allowed to.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Jammu and Leh-based e-vendors. Note that landline Internet is working. Mobile may be restored selectively (to vetted ppl). So an enterprising vendor can hire a distribution network to deliver items at home to shoppers. Eliminates the need to get in car/scooter and venture into the infested parts of Srinagar in the cold, to get a toothbrush. Or a shawl. Or a wool coat. Or an InstaPot cooker.

I have not quite figured out how to protect this network from the Usual Parties, and how to protect the recipient. i.e., how can u determine whether the box sitting on the doorstep is ArrDeeEx or SeeFour? A couple of incidents would ruin bijnej. Perhaps the delivery persons have to get past security, and the boxes will be checked.

How to verify delivery? That needs Internet, but the beauty is that it COULD be wireless from the landline Internet. So delivery can only be verified from stationary, vetted IP addresses.

IOW, end the situation where the shopkeepers are threatened by the terrorists, or use that excuse. I think as competition from e-shopping rises, the shopkeepers will be facing extinction if the don't rise as a group against the terrorists.

Please tell MAD about this, thx.

BTW, do you need Mobile Internet to send an SMS? I don't have mobile Internet on my phone AFAIK, either in Mongolia or when I vijit desh, but still get SMS, in fact it drains my account :((

Come to think of it, Robindranath Thakur's "Kabuliwallah" used to be just such a home-shopping vendor, who also enabled on-site try-outs of shoes , clothes etc. by the Antar-Jan. Except that the lead time for custom orders was probably 6 months - or more if he spent a couple of years at the Father-In-Law's Residence as he put it. In the present model he needs carry only what is ordered.

Nothing against honest ppl of Afghan origin, but having the last-km delivery bijnej taken over by them today, may require a lot of faith - and SeeBeeEye/Raa vetting. OTOH, it would run LeT and HuM out of KV entirely.

And TOUGH FREE SPEECH where it really matters: Kudos to the DE!

Make ‘Back to Village’ programme purposeful
By
Daily Excelsior -
22/11/2019

At the outset, it is a commendable step to launch second phase of ambitious programme of ‘Back to Village’ in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Four goals had been identified under the programme to lay maximum focus on energising Panchayats, collecting feed-back on the levels of implementation and delivery of Government schemes and programmes, capturing specific economic potential and undertaking assessment of needs of the villages and affording opportunities of top officers to visit villages and even stay there for a few days to get a feel and sense of what actually a particular village needed the most and possibly, accord sanctions to the proposals or devise means to resolve issues.
The Government should also move public in achievements of Phase-1 and come up with a balance sheet of how much its first phase held from June 20 to June 27 this very year proved successful and achieved its objectives , the handicaps or the difficulties experienced in giving practical and grass root shape to the said programme , areas where objectives did not or could not be achieved and how in the second phase, they were going to be thoroughly touched. Equitable development across all rural areas being the crux of the mission needs to be reviewed in that segregation of lesser developedvillages and the ones which are developed in comparison, should be the top priority of this programme. In other words, the same yard sticks of reaching out to villages cannot be the same where infrastructural development has been picking up satisfactorily in comparison to ones where it has remained abysmally bad . Rural areas in far flung regions, hilly and with low connectivity areas need preferred attention and we do not find any special thrust on this vital aspect of the issue in the programme.
We, however, cannot underestimate the efforts of the Government to involve many top ranking officials in this exercise but a token activity for a few days only once in a blue moon was no solution at all or any major accomplishment in respect of the programme. We have nearly 4500 active Panchayats and if the people, the members on the Panchayats and the officers from the administration have all to be involved together in the noble mission and in energising the basic tool rather the strength of a village – the Panchayats , it obviously is a mass movement which was not going to achieve expected results just in a week’s time . If the Government has embarked upon the ambitious initiative , it must get it accomplished with a solid administrative apparatus .
Senior IAS officers, IFS officers and 293 KAS officers to be precise and as per the Lieutenant Governor nearly 5000 , have now been designated to be actively involved in the second phase of the programme scheduled from November 25 to November 30. It remains to be seen as to how much they make the programme successful in the sense and to the extent that people really feel that some purposeful initiative had been taken by the Government as they have increasingly high hopes in a new working culture expected to be nursed and adopted after reorganisation of the State. Corruption ridden administrative system needs new initiatives and innovative steps to harvest the confidence of the people, the programme under reference can go a long way in achieving that objective.
Let this grand initiative really turn into ‘governance at the doorstep’ and admittedly not only the Governmental apparatus but people overwhelmingly are needed to participate with greater zeal to identify, quantify and specify the problems so that most of them find on the spot solutions . Panchayats have to play a leading part as they shall not only be host to the visiting officers but are supposed to acquaint them with problems faced by them so that solutions and resolutions could be jointly and severally worked out.

Udhampur Municipal Council awarded Rs. 1.3cr for pakistaning their own territory
PCB begins implementation of NGT’s landmark directions

More institutions to face music for polluting environ

Mohinder Verma

JAMMU, Nov 22: In a first of its own kind major action, Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board has asked the Municipal Council Udhampur to pay Rs 1.39 crore compensation for polluting the environment by resorting to illegal and unscientific dumping and disposal of solid waste.
Similar action against Government departments, health institutions (both private and Government) and other Urban Local Bodies etc in compliance to the directions of the National Green Tribunal is on the cards to have deterrent impact and to generate funds for initiation of measures to mitigate adverse impact on the environment.
EXCELSIOR in its edition dated October 14, 2019 had exclusively reported that J&K Pollution Control Board was all set to implement in letter and spirit the directions of the National Green Tribunal whereby polluters of environment will have to pay hefty compensation.
The National Green Tribunal while dealing with a case titled Paryavaran Suraksha Samiti and Another Versus Union of India and Others had decided to levy Environmental Compensation under the ‘Polluter Pays Principle’. The Tribunal even prepared formula for working out the compensation for polluting environment through effluents, municipal solid waste and sewage etc.
In compliance to the directions of the NGT, the J&K Pollution Control Board put the guidelines prepared by the Central Pollution Control Board in the public domain for awareness of all the stakeholders/ defaulters of environmental laws on September 18, 2019 and the action has finally begun with Municipal Council Udhampur becoming the first target for brazen violation of the Tribunal’s directions and openly polluting the environment.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that on the basis of the reports about illegal and unscientific dumping and disposal of solid waste by the Municipal Council Udhampur, the Pollution Control Board took up the issue with the Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer through series of communications.
However, there was no positive response and reckless handling and disposal of solid waste on the hill slopes alongside National Highway continued besides putting a part of the waste to fire intermittently in brazen violation of the directions of the NGT.
Accordingly, a show case notice was served to Santosh Kotwal, Chief Executive Officer of Municipal Council Udhampur against which no tenable response was received, sources said, adding on persistent default of Municipal Council Udhampur the matter was even taken up with the Principal Secretary to Government, Housing and Urban Development Department with the request to get the practice of illegal dumping and unscientific disposal of waste stopped.
Thereafter, on continuous failure of the CEO Municipal Council Udhampur to dispose of solid waste in a proper manner, notice of levying of Environmental Compensation in the light of the directions of the NGT and guidelines framed by the Central Pollution Control Board was served upon CEO calling upon him to show reasons as to why Environmental Compensation be not levied on him.
In response to this notice, the CEO unwittingly admitted the dumping of the solid waste at forest compartment No.64(U) Khari-Jakhani on the alleged directions of the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
Now, the Pollution Control Board has levied Environmental Compensation to the tune of Rs 1.39 crore on the Municipal Council Udhampur for the period of violation commencing from the date the show cause notice was issued and latest date of inspection by District Officer of the Board, which confirmed the continuous violation by the Municipal Council.
The CEO has been asked to deposit the Environmental Compensation in the online bank account of the Pollution Control Board within 45 days failing which interest at the rate of 12% on the compensation amount shall accrue at his own risk and responsibility.
“Thereafter, the compensation shall continue at the appropriate rate as per the environmental laws on day to day basis”, sources said while disclosing that Environmental Compensation has been worked out as per the formula devised by the NGT.
It is pertinent to mention here that the formula for Environmental Compensation approved by the National Green Tribunal incorporates the anticipated severity of environmental pollution in terms of Pollution Index, duration of violation in terms of number of days, scale of operation in terms of micro/small/medium/large industry and location in terms of proximity to the large habitations.
“This is just the beginning and more Urban Local Bodies, health institutions (both Government and private) and other Government institutions will face the music for polluting the environment by throwing to winds the relevant laws”, sources informed.
They disclosed that large number of establishments both in Government and private sectors have yet not initiated steps for setting up of Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs), Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) and Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) as required under environmental laws.
“Some of the major agencies including Jammu and Srinagar Municipal Corporations are still polluting the water bodies by turning blind eye towards direct flow of sewage and this act on their part will lead to payment of hefty Environmental Compensation under the guidelines”, sources said.

About people LIVING their lives in Jammu and Kashmir, not sitting with their thumbs up their asses, holding down the pins of the grenades hidden there. "Ominous Quiet" indeed! There is much truth in that from a human psychology perspective.

The amazing thing about the mahajan is they do not have a vicious sense of entitlement. They have been magnanimous in their patience with the politics in India to hope for a better tomorrow.

I could not believe some of the schools in Kashmir. Better physical buildings than in Britain I dare say. But totally wasted. Provide Bihar such facilities and they would have done wonders in science and technology, the arts and creating a generally productive life. Do KMs need such facilities? It’s enough that they are KM. Lifetime employment with soft terrorist state governments. And fed by the rest of India.

They sure had a good thing going.

Banihal tunnel. I assume this is road tunnel? Roof clearance seems a bit low, may shear off the grand crowns of the Paki lorries. (BTW, caption says Islamagood, but SURELY those are yindoo, not momeen? What gives? Raa propaganda?)

Then again, maybe it's my vicious optimism. Looks like 2 lanes each way? Why all the space above the flat roof? Ventilation ducts? Space for u no hu to hide? I have never seen such a tunnel under construction in such detail. Unlike the famous Kuthiran Tunnel in Malloostan, the entrance does not seem to be below the terrain level (KL prefers waterways because a rowboat beats the heck out of cars on that road).
Now let's wait: TOIlet may publish this in about 4 dins.

What are all the spikes driven into the rock face all over? Sensors to warn of impending cracks? Hooks for advertisements?

And just so u don't think UBCN does not report ALL the news that is is fit 2 report:
other business establishments were shut in downtown – the old city areas of the city here....

the fresh shutdown started on Wednesday as threatening posters warning shopkeepers and public transport operators appeared at some places in the city here and elsewhere.
The police have taken note of these incidents and several such modules have been busted by arresting several persons. (PTI)
Like UBCN predicted: there is a HUGE opportunity for e-tail to take over, and allow the Old City shopping-slum to be razed. Maybe a nice heliport/ multimodal transport hub.

Subjail raided; 11 cellphones recovered. Prisoners can now "go" better, now that the phones have been removed from the usual hiding places.

The subjail has more decorative exterior than the Govt Model High Schools in Malloostan. Fortunately, also heftier construction.

Editorial: Passenger Boat Services in Surinsar Lake
It could definitely prove in increasing the footfall of tourists and related activities in Surnisar lake by introducing passenger boat services for tourists. We appreciate the initiative of the Tourism Department in this respect. It may be recalled that the passenger boat services in two major tourist destinations, viz Mansar and Surinsar lakes were stopped some years back, while the same were restarted in Mansar in 2002, the same could not in respect of Surinsar lake.
It would have been nice that a common understanding and cooperation could have been there between the Tourism Department, Wildlife and Forest Departments, perhaps the issue would have been sorted out much earlier. Today’s tourist does not feel contented and satisfied just by watching a destination in itself unless there were connected services and fun and frolic around like in the instant case in the form of peddle boats, rowing boats and passenger ferrying boats. Innovative and new ways have got to be found out to cater to the growing needs of the tourists. However, we wish uninterrupted boat services in Surinsar lake.

Oh, so Pak did lose some posts in Akhnoor sector!
LoC tense as Pak bid to regain lost posts in Akhnoor foiled

Sanjeev Pargal
JAMMU, Nov 25: Pakistan army is reported to have suffered heavy losses on the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector in its attempt to regain some of the lost posts as Indian troops retaliated to Pakistan firing very effectively today.
The development comes at a time when the Indian Army was in the process of deploying recently acquired Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missiles along the LoC with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said Pakistan army resorted to heavy firing on the Indian positions on the LoC between Khour and Pallanwalla in Akhnoor sector at 4 am and again at 9 pm tonight and tried to regain some of the posts they had lost earlier in retaliatory firing and shelling by the Indian troops.
Aware of Pakistani plans, the Indian Army again retaliated effectively and thwarted Pakistani plot to regain their lost posts twice during the day today. Though there was no official word, at least three Pakistan army personnel were reported to have been killed and two others injured in the Indian retaliation.
Heavy exchange of firing between the two sides continued for about two hours in the morning, reports said, adding that there were no casualties or damage on the Indian side.
There was no official confirmation about number of posts the Pakistan army has lost in their forward areas on the LoC between Khour and Pallanwalla in Akhnoor sector.
However, official sources confirmed that Pakistan army violated ceasefire on the LoC in Akhnoor sector at 4 am, which was strongly retaliated by the Indian side, leading to exchange of firing and heavy losses on Pakistan side. Pakistan army again violated ceasefire at 9 pm today, which was again returned by the Indian side.
Meanwhile, the students of Government Primary School were shifted to safer places as preventive measure when Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing along the International Border in Kanachak sector.
The school students and villagers had close shave at Gol Pattan area of Kanachak sector at Indo-Pak International Border, when Pakistani Rangers violated ceasefire at around 10 am.
The firing continued till 12.30 pm while BSF also retaliated.
”The school students of Primary School of forward area Gol Pattan area were shifted to safer places in BSF’s Bunker Vehicle,” reports said.
Meanwhile, in view of continued ceasefire violations by Pakistan army, the Indian Army will shortly deploy recently acquired Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missiles along the LoC with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Spike missiles can be used in the bunker buster mode,” official sources told the Excelsior.
They said the Indian Army has received 240 Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missiles and their 12 launchers from Israel on fast track mode to meet emergency requirements especially along the LoC with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir where ceasefire violations, infiltration attempts etc have increased following Balakote air raids by India on February 24 :(( and (events of) August 5 :(( this year.
The missiles which are supposed to be mainly used for anti-tank operations can also be quite helpful for destroying hardened shelters or bunkers in which the militants might be hiding. Indian Army had recently targeted camps and launch pads of the militants along the Line of Control about a month ago in which number of militants and Pakistan army personnel were killed.
According to sources, Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missiles can also be used during night and can strike the target accurately.
While 210 Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missiles with 12 launchers have been received by the Indian Army for Northern Command headquartered at Udhampur, sources said the Army could seek more such launchers and missiles shortly for deployment on the LoC as it sees no early de-escalation of tension with Pakistan in view of the Central Government decisions on Jammu and Kashmir, which have upset and isolated the neighbour which was now using ceasefire violations and trying to push the militants into this side for causing disturbances.
Faced with increased presence of militants including hardcore cadre of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militant outfits at launching pads close to the LoC with full backing of Pakistan army in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region and Baramulla and Kupwara in Kashmir, the Indian troops have been taking series of measures to thwart intrusions.
“During past couple of months, Indian Army has already foiled series of infiltration attempts by heavily armed militants on the LoC,” sources said, adding that apart from deployment of Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missiles and launchers, the Army has also taken number of other measures to ensure that Pakistan’s designs to push militants in Jammu and Kashmir to step-up militancy don’t succeed.

This appears to be very recent, given the soosai attacks in desperate bid to recapture them. Like Musharraf when Zia visited him after he had lost Siachen. "Heavy losses" is not a term used for "3 killed" in military parlance. Sounds like a fly trap. Post is de-pested, then wait for the jeeeeeehaaad to come charging in trying to re-pest it.

J&K celebrates Constitution Dayforfirst time, LG reads out the Preamble

HIGHLIGHTS

- November 26 has a unique historical significance as it was on this day in 1949 that the Constitution of India was adopted

- The erstwhile state of J and K had its own Constitution that was in place since 1957

- But the Centre's decision to abrogate its special status under Article 370 and bifurcate it into two Union territories on August 5 ended that privilege

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday celebrated the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India for the first time following abrogation of Article 370 provisions that ended the erstwhile state's special status and separate Constitution.

Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu led the celebrations of the Constitution Day by reading out the Preamble of the Constitution.

The main function was held at the Assembly Complex here. Farooq Khan, Advisor to the Lt Governor, BVR Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries, officers and officials of the Civil Secretariat were present on the occasion.

November 26 has a unique historical significance as it was on this day in 1949 that the Constitution of India was adopted, and, thereafter, came into force on January 26, 1950, marking the beginning of the country as a republic.

The erstwhile state of J and K had its own Constitution that was in place since 1957. But the Centre's decision to abrogate its special status under Article 370 and bifurcate it into two Union territories on August 5 ended that privilege.

On Tuesday, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, heads of departments and heads of all police formations undertook activities in their respective offices to acknowledge the contribution of the framers of the Constitution and sensitise people regarding the exalted values and the precepts enshrined in it, an official statement said.

All institutions, including government offices, read out the Preamble of the Constitution at 11 am followed by a pledge to uphold the fundamental duties.

A campaign on fundamental duties began in the Union Territory on Tuesday, as part of a nation-wide drive, that will culminate on April 14 next year on B R Ambedkar's birth
anniversary.

Administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, heads of departments and heads of all police formations are advised to chalk out month-wise calendar of activities to be undertaken, an order issued said.

- Sunni Waqf board held a meeting in Lucknow following which its member Advocate Abdul Razzaq announced that the board will not seek review of SC order in Ayodhya title dispute

- But the board will hold another meeting to decide on five acre land relief

LUCKNOW : The Sunni Central Waqf Board on Tuesday decided that it will not file a review petition against the Supreme Court's verdict on the Ayodhya dispute, its chairman Zufar Farooqi said.

The important meeting of the board, attended by seven of the eight members, decided not to file a review petition against the apex court's decision, he said.

Six members present were of the view that review petition should not be filed, Farooqi said.

He said the board was yet to decide whether to accept a five-acre land given by the apex court for building a mosque in Ayodhya.

The members feel that they need more time to decide on the matter and also ensure that it is appropriate as per the Shariat, Farooqi said.

The Supreme Court, in its verdict in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi title case on November 9, said the entire 2.77 acres of disputed land should be handed over to the deity Ram Lalla, who was one of the three litigants in the case.

Shocking to see a terrorist organisation openly supporting @UKLabour and @jeremycorbyn! It is time PM @narendramodi @PMOIndia declare a travel advisory against U.K. for Indians owing to the hostility towards India in U.K. @HCI_London @CGI_Bghm

Every year November 25 is remembered as Mirpur Day. On this day in 1947 a curse descended on Mirpur, now in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Out of a total 25,000 about 18,000 Hindus and Sikhs were killed and about 3,500 were wounded.
Soon after India’s independence a rebellion occurred in Poonch and Mirpur districts, and the Pakistan Army conceived a military plan to invade Jammu and Kashmir. The military campaign was code-named “Operation Gulmarg”, which was said to be assisted and guided by British military.

Before the Kashmir War in 1947, the Mirpur District had Hindus and Sikhs, comprised 20 percent of the population. A great majority of them lived in the principal towns of Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber. Refugees from Jhelum in western Punjab had taken refuge in Mirpur town, causing the non-Muslim population to increase to 25,000.

During the War, raiders entered the city on the morning of November 25 and set several parts of the city on fire, causing chaos and turmoil across the city. Large-scale rioting took place. Of the minority population, only about 2,000 Hindus and 2,000 Sikh escaped to Jammu along with the state troops. The remainder were marched to Alibaig, where a Gurdwara was converted into a prison camp, but the raiders killed 10,000 of the captives along the way and abducted 5,000 women. Only about 5,000 made it to Ali Baig, but they continued to be killed at a gradual pace by the captors. Hindu and Sikh women were raped and abducted. Many women committed suicide by consuming poison before falling into the hands of the raiders, to avoid rape and abduction. Many men also committed suicide. The total death toll was over 20,000.

Temples and Gurdwaras were demolished, the aim of the Pakistan Army and raiders was to destroy and kill Hindus and Sikhs and bring the district to a clear Muslim majority area with ease. Local Muslims also played a dirty part in driving out the Sikhs and Hindus. RSS and other organizations helped as foot soldiers to bring back the remaining Sikhs and Hindus safely to Jammu. Today no Hindu or Sikh population has survived in this region, old temples and gurdwaras have been destroyed and the land has been grabbed to build homes and madarsas for the Muslims. Many areas named after Hindu saints and Sikh saints have been renamed.

From personal experience, Almost whole of J&K is built on ill gotten money and corruption.
Cement bags meant for Salal hydro electric project was consumed by Engineers building independent houses in and around Jammu.
Junior teachers who would get posting in far flung places but would take tuition classes in Jammu city 25 out of 30 days.
The list in unending..

PM Imran denounces India's call for Israeli model in occupied Kashmir - News Desk

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday denounced India’s call for an “Israeli model” in occupied Kashmir, terming it a depiction of “the fascist mindset of the Indian govt’s RSS ideology that has continued the siege of IOJK for over 100 days”.

He also called out “powerful countries” for their silence over the gross human rights violation in occupied Kashmir because of their “own trading interests”.

Imran’s comments came in a tweet on Wednesday morning in which he linked a report by Middle East Eye on a senior Indian diplomat’s controversial remarks at an event in the United States.

As per the report, Sandeep Chakravorty, the Indian consul general in New York, told “Kashmiri Hindus [known as Kashmiri Pandits] and Indian nationals that New Delhi will build settlements modelled after Israel for the return of the Hindu population to Kashmir.”

He asked those present “to give the [Indian] government some time to implement its plans in the [occupied] valley”.

“I believe the security situation will improve, it will allow the refugees to go back, and in your lifetime, you will be able to go back … and you will be able to find security, because we already have a model in the world.

‘Is their humanity dead’, PM questions world’s silence on Indian atrocities in IOK

“I don’t know why we don’t follow it. It has happened in the Middle East. If the Israeli people can do it, we can also do it,” the report quoted Chakravorty as saying.

He also spoke against international condemnation and interference into the matter. “[The issue is) getting pulled into the [UN] Human Rights Council. It’s getting pulled into the US Congress.

“A delegation wants to go. But go to other places. Go to Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. No one is talking about taking photos there. So why do they want to come to our place? They don’t like it now that we are now asserting ourselves,” Chakravorty was quoted as saying.

A return of the Hindu minority to Indian Occupied Kashmir has been one of the main premises for New Delhi’s move to scarp Articles 370 and Article 35A of the Indian Constitution, which barred outsiders from buying land in the occupied territory.

The Middle East Eye report described the event where the Indian diplomat spoke as “one of a number of events held at the behest of India’s right-wing government in its attempt to wrestle back control of the narrative in the face of the immense grassroots mobilisation against its actions in Kashmir.”

Cement bags from dul hasti were similarly sold off by the locals and the French company who was building the dam quit the project after suffering huge losses. A fake kidnapping of its enginner was staged and the French on the pretext of insecurity excited the project.

Did he actually say this. The Pakis are well known for posting rubbish. But if he did say this, I wonder why he would do so. We all know that the Israeli occupation is not well liked by many in the West, moreover the Israeli model has little in commonality with the Indian situation, strategically or morally. Kashmir and its Hindus are victims of egregious Pakistani aggression. This is not exactly the case with Israel. No need to equate with them. It is like frittering away India's moral high ground in this matter.
