Reading through the article it appears that the Saudis are demanding the money back and TSP is struggling to do this.
Pakistan may return $2b Saudi Arabian loan
ISLAMABAD:Pakistan may return $2 billion Saudi Arabian loan and is looking for various options to secure more lending aimed at retaining gross official foreign exchange reserves at their current level of over $12 billion, Ministry of Finance sources told The Express Tribune.

The second tranche of $1 billion of Saudi loan is maturing next month and there is likelihood that the government will return the money – two years after the borrowings, the sources added.

The Saudi Arabian financial assistance package, originally estimated at $6.2 billion, had helped the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan to avoid looming default on international debt obligations.

Although there was hope that the political level contacts may help to convince the Gulf countries to extend these loans for another year, the chances were not high, said the Finance Ministry sources.

Saudi Arabia had agreed to provide $6.2 billion worth of financial package to Pakistan for three years. This included $3 billion in cash assistance and $3.2 billion worth of annual oil and gas supply on deferred payments.

As per the agreement, the Saudi cash and oil facility was for one year with an option to roll over the amount at the end of the year for a period of three years.

Pakistan was paying 3.2% interest on the $3-billion facility, according to the information that the Ministry of Finance shared with the National Assembly. The Saudi oil facility has already been suspended while Pakistan has also paid back Saudi Arabia $1 billion out of the $3 billion in May this year.

The sources said the government was considering various options to repay the Saudi loan, which is booked on the balance sheet of the State Bank of Pakistan.

A senior Finance Ministry official said that Pakistan could get $2 billion from China, like it did last time when it paid back $1 billion to Saudi Arabia. The official did not explain whether the Chinese lending will be concessional or the commercial loans.

The government has also not been able to get the suspended $6 billion IMF programme restored, which is making it difficult for it to continue uninterrupted foreign inflows. The sources said if the IMF programme is not restored in near future, the World Bank inflows may start drying up.

The programme loans from the other two multilateral creditors were also critical to return $10.6 billion in maturing loans in the current fiscal year, excluding the Saudi Arabian and UAE debt. Pakistan’s gross official foreign currency reserves of about $12.2 billion are largely built by taking foreign loans.

Lahore metro pays huge salaries to Chinese staff, impacting morale of local employees: Report
The huge disparity in the salaries is impacting the morale of the Pakistani staff, who are also given a different grade system than the Chinese. Besides, even as the Chinese staff is being paid in Yuan, the locals are getting their salaries in Pakistani rupees (PKR).

“On Wednesday, the value of 1 CNY against 1 PKR was equal to Rs 24.02. According to the data of the salaries of 93 Chinese working at the OLMT project, the Chinese staff is highly paid. If the salaries of Pakistani officials working on the same/equivalent seats are compared with those of Chinese staff, the Pakistan employees are getting mere peanuts. According to data, a Chinese-origin deputy chief executive officer/CFO/director with grade L2 is being paid 136,000 CNY per month which is equal to over Rs 3.26 million. There were three positions and all were filled with Chinese. No Pakistani was hired on this designation,” The News International stated.

While a Chinese official posted to the DGM rank gets 83,000 CNY per month, equivalent to more than Rs 1.9 million per month, Pakistani official Umer Chishti, who holds the position of DGM Equipment and Maintenance, receive merely Rs 625,000 per month.

The News further reported that as many as 43 people of Chinese origin were recruited on the slots of technicians/train operators and each person is being paid 47,500 CNY, equal to over Rs 1.13 million. However, a locally recruited train operator/train crew gets only Rs 60,000.

Giving another example of the disparity in salaries, The News International said while 12 people of Chinese origin working on the slot of train dispatcher/train crew are getting 57,000 CNY each, equal to Rs 1.36m, the locally recruited employees working on the OLMT project are getting much lower salaries.

The Pakistani employees have demanded a salary hike from the government keeping in view the salary of their Chinese counterparts.

Long time adage on BR "Give peace a chance, Destroy Pakistan" - looks like the Chinese are doing a good job at sucking Pakistan dry. May be the right time to move on G-B might be in a couple of years when the Chinese would have fully hollowed out Paki economy and filled their military with dud equipment. India could just walk in encountering little resistance.

The Chinese will do all the work, the Pakis will only fill attendance sheets, so pay differential will be justified. But Pakis have keep ticket prices low, so the 27KM Lahore metro will not provide any great connectivity but gives Pakis a right to say they also have a metro.

Looks like cheeni maibaaps are sending local CCP thugs to Pajistan as train operators and forcing the Pajistanis to pay them EU salaries . Wonder why no Abdul ever gets angry over Xinjiang instead of boycotting Macaroni cheese over the cartoons published in a french newspaper

Pakistan may not get $2 bn rollover from Saudi Arabia
ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia has indicated that it might refuse a rollover of $2 billion to Pakistan. Islamabad has already started exploring options to manage the amount from other avenues to avert the dwindling foreign currency reserves. On the issue of $2 billion loan deposits from the UAE, there is no new development so far, as its maturity will become due after a couple of months.

When Saudi Arabia had asked Pakistan to return $1 billion prior to its due date, Islamabad had to obtain it from China. Now the Pakistani authorities have been left with two remaining options either to manage commercial loans or obtain $2 billion more from China.

Pakistan’s foreign currency reserves held with the SBP stood at $12.18 billion out of which around $10 billion were in shape of foreign loans or swaps obligations. If the IMF includes in it, the foreign exchange turns into negative so vulnerabilities on external account are increasing with every passing day.

PM urged to highlight India’s occupation of Junagarh
ISLAMABAD: Nawab of Junagarh Muhammad Jahangir Khanji on Monday appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan to become an ambassador of Junagarh as he did in the case of Kashmir and highlight the issue of liberation of the state from Indian occupation at all international forums.

Addressing a press conference, he said a secretariat of Junagarh should be established in Islamabad to bring the princely state closer to Pakistan.

Junagarh, he said, had a territory of 4,000 square miles and a 100-mile coastline along the Arabian Sea with many ports. Among the 562 princely states in the Sub-continent, Junagarh was the sixth richest and a welfare state which provided free education to its citizens and took responsibility to provide healthcare facilities to all of them, he added.

He recalled that in October 1947, during his visit to Pakistan his grandfather Nawab Mahabat Khan signed an agreement of accession to Pakistan. During the visit, his grandfather held a meeting with Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and decided to accede the state to Pakistan. The treaty of accession was ratified by the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan.

In the absence of his grandfather, India landed its troops and occupied the territory of Junagarh on November 9, 1947, he said.

He said that Hindu and Muslim communities in Junagarh still expressed their loyalties to the Nawab of Junagarh. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi should know that Junagarh would be part of Pakistan, he said. :D

He said it was a dream of the Quaid-i-Azam and his grandfather that Junagarh should be part of Pakistan.

In reply to a question, he said 2.5 million people belonging to Junagarh lived in Pakistan.

He said his grandfather never claimed any property or benefits in Pakistan.

The bomb has been diffused by declaring it a cylinder explosion in true paki style.
ISI, Rangers officers involved in Karachi incident removed after inquiry: ISPR
RAWALPINDI: The court of inquiry established on the orders of the army chief to determine facts surrounding the Karachi incident has removed the “concerned" officers of Rangers and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) from their "current assignments" after it was established they acted "over zealously" creating an "unwarranted situation" between the two state institutions, said the military's media wing on Tuesday.

Reacting to the ISPR statement, Minister for Information Shibli Faraz, who had earlier termed the incident a political gimmick by the PPP, appreciated the army chief for initiating the inquiry and implementing the recommendations given by the court of inquiry.

“We accept what happened. Since the issue concerned Quaid-e-Azam, they [security officials] acted emotionally, which I feel they should not have.”

“But the [Army] has given its decision and we welcome it,” he said.

US Embassy in Pakistan under intense fire after retweeting controversial statement
Commenting on an article by the Washington Post titled ‘Trump's defeat is a blow for the world's demagogues and dictators’, Ahsan Iqbal had taken a swipe at Prime Minister Imran Khan and written on the microblogging website that “We have one (demagogue/dictator) in Pakistan too. He will be shown way out soon. Insha Allah!”

Shortly after, the US Embassy's Twitter account retweeted Iqbal’s statement, inviting a furious reaction and widespread condemnation from both Pakistani citizens as well as political figures.

Even though the embassy later deleted the tweet, Twitterati were quick to capture screenshots. Soon after, hashtags like #ApologiseUSEmbassy started trending on the micro-blogging platform.

On Wednesday afternoon, the mission clarified that: "The US Embassy does not endorse the posting or retweeting of political messages. We apologise for any confusion that may have resulted from the unauthorised post."

Banana republic is a state of mind. Latin America used to be in thrall to the gringo.

The type of fawning over the chita or gora reported in Pakistan is worse than in India. At least in Indian cities, the chita aadmi is not an uncommon site. It remains a rarity in Pakistan.

Media should stop using metaphors like "intense fire" when it comes to Pakistan. When I read the headline, I assumed there was actual firing on US embassy ...that is what is expected in Sh1tistan.

Pakistani airlines could be banned from flying to 188 countries, know why

his development follows Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) already been banned from taking flights to the UK and the European Union after the licensing scam came to light which revealed that country's 262 pilots held fake credentials.

In its 12th meeting, the ICAO approved a mechanism for addressing Significant Safety Concerns (SSCs) facing its member states and in light of this issued a serious warning to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority

Bitten by FATF regulations, now TSP wants to build a narrative of equal equal regarding terrorism with India.
Specific proof of Indian terrorism in Pakistan unveiled
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Saturday made public a dossier containing `irrefutable proofs’ of the Indian sponsorship of terrorism in Pakistan and called on the world to stop India’s rogue actions for saving the region’s peace and security.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, accompanied by military spokesman Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar, while sharing salient features of the dossier with the media at a presser at the Foreign Office, emphasised that the world could not afford to ignore India’s “rogue behaviour” and said Pakistan reserved the right to defend itself in every possible way.

“The [specific] evidence presented by Pakistan provides a concrete proof of Indian financial and material sponsorship of multiple terrorist organisations, including UN-designated terrorist organisations Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, Balochistan Liberation Army and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan,” explained Mr Qureshi.

The dossier exposing India’s real face before the international community was being shared with the United Nations (UN), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) as well as other influential world capitals, he said.

Diplomats, military and intelligence officials of India had been working with the Pakistan-centric terrorist groups based in Afghanistan, it stated. The dossier has been made public before Prime Minister Imran Khan’s expected visit to Kabul next week.

The foreign minister, in a tweet after the presser, said: “This one-sided narrative ends today. For too long India has gotten away with state-sponsored terrorism & cultivating seeds of hatred across the border”.

“Today we presented irrefutable evidence to the world on Indian state’s insatiable appetite for terrorism, violence and instability, funding banned organisations, arming terrorists, savage attacks on innocent civilians and desperately trying to lobby against Flag of Pakistan’s growing global role of peace and progress; India has become a rogue state. It is time the world wakes up to an Indian state that is only incredible in its fanaticism,” he maintained.

India creating unrest to damage CPEC: Qureshi
MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Sunday that India was conspiring to damage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project by creating unrest in the country.

Talking to the media here, he said Pakistan had solid proof that India was trying to create law and order situation in the country and for the purpose it had given Rs80 billion to a group.

He said India was running training camps of terrorists to disturb security situation in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Answering a question, he said US president-elect Joe Biden had complete understanding of issues in South Asia, especially about affairs of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. He said Pakistan would continue to convey its point of view effectively to new administration in the United States.

Mehr Tarar writes. Looks like they all are agreeing to the fact that TSP is a destroyed nation.
Imran Khan did not destroy Pakistan. You did
On November 15, 2020, as three of Pakistan’s biggest and most important political parties–the first time in power in the centre PTI, and the old and experienced PML-N and PPP–fight the election in Gilgit-Baltistan, promising to change the fate and the life choices of the inhabitants of the stunning region, I shake my head, a quiet sense of unease shadowing my almost irritating optimism that things will get better. All of them are asking the aam aadmi, the regular Pakistani, to vote for them.

There is just one problem. The system that they say has been made a mess of by Khan and that they now promise to change is the creation of the decades of the ideology, governance and government of their own parties, and that of General Pervez Musharraf.

In those ten years, 2008-2018…

In 2013, 24.3 percent of Pakistanis were living under the official poverty line.

In 2018 the number was 24 percent.

In 2013, more than 40 percent of Pakistanis did not have access to clean drinking water.

In 2018, 21 million Pakistanis did not have access to clean drinking water.

In 2013, Pakistan had 25 million out-of-school children.

In 2018, Pakistan had 22.8 million out-of-school children.

In 2013, 50 million people did not have access to grid electricity.

In 2018, the number was the same: 50 million

In 2013, 869 women were killed in the name of “honour.”

In 2018, 1,000 women were killed.

In 2013, maternal mortality rate was 161/100,000.

In 2018, it was 140/100,000.

A report in 2018 stated: 40 percent of the under-five children in Pakistan have stunted growth.

Where Pakistan stands after five years of Imran Khan’s government in 2023, time will be the best judge. The voter will decide. In the meantime: who is accountable for the hell of 2008-2018? Who is responsible for the misery of millions? The pain of the invisible Pakistani.

PM says US pressuring Pakistan to recognise Israel: report
KARACHI: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the country is facing great pressure from the United States to recognise Israel, especially in the wake of peace deals between several Arab states and Tel Aviv, but this will not be possible “unless there is a just settlement, which satisfies Palestine”.

The prime minister was quoted as making these remarks by the Middle East Eye (MEE) website — a portal with a focus on the region — in a report carried on Monday.

MEE said Mr Khan made these remarks “last week” talking to “local media”.

The website quoted the prime minister as saying that pressure to recognise Israel was “extraordinary during the Trump stint”.

Asked if any Muslim states were applying similar pressure on Pakistan, the PM appeared evasive, saying “there are things we cannot say. We have good relations with them”.

Pakistan's 'university of jihad' proud of Taliban alumni
The Darul Uloom Haqqania seminary has churned out a who's who of Taliban top brass -- including many now on the hardline group's negotiating team holding talks with the Kabul government to end a 20-year war.
"Russia was broken into pieces by the students and graduates of Darul Uloom Haqqania and America was also sent packing," beamed Shah, an influential cleric at the seminary that critics have dubbed the "university of jihad".
"We are proud."

"Any student who wanted to go for jihad could go during his vacations," said cleric Sardar Ali Haqqani, who graduated from the seminary in 2009.

Pakis do Paki
Lord Ahmed expelled from the House :rotfl:
The report details how Tahira Zaman, a member of the public “was put in contact with Lord Ahmed to help her make a complaint to the Metropolitan Police about a faith healer”. After offering to help, Lord Ahmed was found to have used his position as a member of the House to:

-Sexually assault the complainant on 2 March 2017.
-Lie to the complainant about his intentions to help her with a complaint to the Metropolitan Police regarding exploitation by a faith healer.
-Exploit the complainant emotionally and sexually despite knowing she was vulnerable.

The Committee noted that at no point in the process did Lord Ahmed show any remorse or take any responsibility for any aspect of his conduct towards the complainant…

The report is to be put to the House for approval on 19 November with no debate.

Lord Ahmed retires from Parliament days before expulsion
By Richard Watson
BBC Newsnight

A member of the House of Lords retired from Parliament after seeing a conduct report recommending he be expelled for sexually exploiting a vulnerable woman. The Lords Conduct Committee concluded Lord Ahmed of Rotherham emotionally and sexually exploited Tahira Zaman, who came to him for help in 2017. The inquiry into his behaviour followed a BBC Newsnight investigation.
Lord Ahmed said the allegations in the report were not true and he would appeal against the decision.
Ms Zaman said she was "elated and relieved" at the report's findings. 'I was looking for help'.
The Lords Conduct Committee report concluded Lord Ahmed had exploited Ms Zaman, despite knowing she was receiving treatment for anxiety and depression. The Lords Commissioner for Standards, Lucy Scott-Moncrieff, said this "exacerbates the seriousness" of his breaches of the code of conduct.
Ms Zaman told Newsnight last year: "I was looking for help and he took advantage of me, he abused his power." She said she had approached Lord Ahmed because she thought he could help her get the Metropolitan Police to investigate a faith healer who she believed was exploiting women.
Lord Ahmed wrote to the Met Police Commissioner on headed paper on 2 March, and he and Ms Zaman met at a restaurant in east London in February 2017 to discuss the case. After dinner, Ms Zaman alleged that Lord Ahmed groped her upper thigh. On the balance of probabilities, the Commissioner for Standards' investigation found that Lord Ahmed had sexually assaulted her. Ms Zaman says she was shocked by his behaviour and broke off contact.
But, encouraged by a friend, she messaged Lord Ahmed on 14 July that year to ask if he had received a reply from the police. He said he had and they arranged to meet at his house in east London to discuss it. She told Newsnight last year: "He was saying I'm beautiful and, you know, he really likes me." Later that evening, in September 2017, she had sex with him.

Lord Robert Clive and Warren Hastings could do similar acts and get away with it but not Lord Ahmed?

Here is my reading of the situation. The Indian army has denied any action took place yesterday (19th Nov. 2020). However, if you believe Babaji, something did happen a week back (13th Nov. 2020).
Dr. APR @drapr007

#BREAKING : Indian Army carried out multiple pin point strikes on terror launch pads inside PoK on 13th Of November 2020 in which more than 100 ready to infiltrate terrorists were eliminated. Not only heavy artilleries but rockets & missiles were used by IA in these ops.

You can ignore/disbelieve Babaji but I believe there is an element of truth in what he says.

IA was very clear there wasn't any cross border strikes on 18th/19th. They haven't made any statement on any strikes or not at earlier dates

May be (for reasons best known to army and government) they don't want to say much in public but piggies were sent to Jannat anyway! Piggies want to make more noise when BuddaJoeB is getting ready to take over!

Sir, IA was referring to LoC/PoK yesterday; Babaji is referring to events last week. Where is the divergence/conflict between IA & Babaji? I see no conflict between either of them. Each is right about what they are referring to.

IA/MoD/GoI are not talking about previous dates, for reasons best known to them. One reason could be, critics of GoI will immediately demand evidence; all of this is avoidable. So, as far as official reaction, is to keep mum.

Macron seems to be reading BR :)

Macron outlines new law to prevent 'Islamist separatism' in France

Local officials will get extra powers to fight radicalism and social problems will be tackled

Comment's in red are mine

Emmanuel Macron has announced a law against religious “separatism” aimed at freeing Islam in France from “foreign influences”. In a long-awaited declaration, the French president outlined new measures to “defend the republic and its values and ensure it respects its promises of equality and emancipation”.

The measures to combat “radical Islamism” and terrorism suggested a carrot-and-stick approach: local officials will be given extra legal powers to combat extremism while money will be invested in education – particularly of Islamic culture and civilisation – and to deal with other social problems including housing and poverty. “Our challenge is to fight against those who go off the rails in the name of religion … while protecting those who believe in Islam and are full citizens of the republic,” Macron said. His speech on Friday was a broad outline of the measures to come, which he said would be drawn up in the next two weeks for a law to be presented in December.

The measures include placing mosques under greater control and requiring that imams are trained and certified in France. The aim would be to “liberate French Islam from foreign influences”, he said, particularly funding. Islamic organisations that receive funding from the French state will have to sign a “secular charter”. Associations found to be pushing ideas contrary to republican ideals could be ordered to disband, and €10m (just over £9m) of public funds would be used to finance higher education studies and research into Islamic culture and civilisation.

IMO the bolded part is the most important : All foreign imams who are essentially Muslim Brotherhood's placements will be expelled. State reserves and reaffirms right to observe and oversee whats being said and done in mosques and other islamic watering holes. Not leave islamic research and discourse solely to Islamists but French ministries will get involved in it.

“The country has been hit by Islamic terrorism since 2012 and we have progressively rearmed against this threat,” he said. Radical Islamism had shown a “willingness to contravene the laws of the republic, to promote other values … to organise another society”. He termed this “Islamist separatism”.

Macron calls it out for what it is. I hope other EU countries are listening and will follow suit.

However, he recognised that France’s colonial past had helped to create the problems the country faced. “We have created our own separatism in some of our areas. We have concentrated populations of the same origins, the same religion.” This had created “economic and educational difficulties”. Macron announced extra funding for the country’s education and justice ministries to “assure a republican presence in every road, every building”.

The Republic reaffirms its mandate to go anywhere, everywhere on its territory. No more turning blind eye to off limit ghetto zones where the state is not welcome - at least in principle.

He said education was key to the measures and that from September next year children would be required to attend school from the age of three. Home schooling is to be limited. Macron would be drawing up new measures in the coming weeks to address other social problems including housing, because a “profound change” was needed, he said. “We cannot keep adding poverty to poverty.”

• This article was amended on 5 November 2020 so that a headline reflected Emmanuel Macron’s reference to “Islamist separatism”, rather than Islamic separatism.
