Communalism had existed in Indian society even before 2014 when the BJP came to power. But till then it was latent and erupted only occasionally. After 2014 it has become open, virulent and continuous. Indian society is much more polarised now.

Katju being Katju, good communalism vs bad communalism. Rest of the article is good but he just has to put in a little stinker in the end.

A surprise provision in a Trump defense bill has granted a path to citizenship for 4,000 Liberians
The provision was buried in the $738 billion defense appropriation bill for fiscal year 2020 under “Other Matters.” The bill, which was signed into law on Dec. 20, will allow these Liberians to apply for green cards under Section 7611 of the National Defense Authorization Act titled “Liberian refugee immigration fairness”.
To be eligible for the green card, Liberian nationals must have been continuously physically present in the United States from Nov. 20, 2014,

katju is a cashmeri but his family has been domiciled for decades in UP, and by virtue of this "qualification" he fully "expected" to be made governor of J&K.

A cashmeri cannot become the governor of cashmere or a malayali the governor of kerala and so on but katju said that since his family was domiciled in UP and he was a cashmeri, he was best able to solve all of cashmere's problems and he began pressuring the govt to "appoint" him as the J&K governor and when he was rightfully rebuffed, he turned rabidly anti establishment.

BTW, this guy is related to shampoo tharoor by marriage, being the cousin of tharoor's first wife.

Centre studies if RTE exemption to minority schools helping children
“This study is mainly aimed at missionary schools as they are paid institutions where a large number of students who can afford expensive education study,” the official added. Sources in the NCPCR said a response has already been sought from the states to “Study the Impact of Article 15 (5) with respect to Article 21 A of the Constitutions of India on Education of Children of Minority Communities”.

“The NCPCR and the SCPCRs in their observation have seen that while missionary schools deny admission to poor students using the constitutional provision, the number of Christian students in those schools is limited and therefore the rationale behind Article 15 (5) to exempt minority institutions from reservation in order to conserve their language, script and culture is not getting fulfilled,” said a senior official in the child rights body.

Educationist Prem Shankar Ram who teaches at Banaras Hindu University welcomed the move saying that provisions of the RTE should be extended to maximise its benefits of providing free and compulsory education to all children.

Yup .. as I have state before, Secular education should not come under exemption.

As Muslim mob pelts stones on Nankana Sahib, runditv journalist srinivasan jain worries about visuals being used for ‘pro-CAA propaganda’

kept aunty is frustrated with mistakes made by niazi.

niazi had earlier tweeted 7 year old visuals of beedi police shooting and killing rioters in beediland and he passed off those gory visuals as video proof of recent UP police killing what he claimed were Indian muslims.

it looks like payments for soldout presstitutes have not been forthcoming for quite some time now due to the crisis in the paki economy

when some families have had many judicial and judge types in the past, the future is easy to rig.

it is easy for such entitled families to rig the selection process. some guys have some "gold" medals for excellence in academics and I am certain that these honors too can and have been manipulated.

some men do not even have the IQ of a retarded earthworm much less the ability or the mental faculties to successfully prosecute the duties of a SC judge.

Notwithstanding all this, some guys are, however, a legend in their own minds. Another prime example of this syndrome is an entitled dynastic politico who often mistakes one end of his alimentary canal for the other since incomprehensible sounds emanate from either end with equal ease

Instead of removing the exemptions granted to minority schools and raising a wholly avoidable new communal controversy, GOI can simply say that the exemption applies only to schools that have at least 90% of students belonging to that minority community.

Why I protest as a Muslim
When I protested against the Citizenship Amendment Act at Parivartan Chowk in Lucknow on December 19, I did not protest just against the legislation. That was the obvious, immediate protest.

There was another unspoken, more passionate protest happening within the hearts of Muslims like me who had assembled at Parivartan Chowk. It was a protest against six long years of the anti-Muslim agenda of the Narendra Modi government. It was a protest against the lynching of Mohammad Akhlaq, Pehlu Khan, Tabrez Ansari, Junaid Khan, and many others whose names have been forgotten. It was a protest against the passing of the Triple Talaq Bill. It was a protest against the Supreme Court verdict in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi title suit. It was a protest against the CAA and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Finally, it was a protest against the trigger that pushed us out on the streets — the Delhi Police’s crackdown on the students of Jamia Millia Islamia. It was a cumulative protest, a release of pent-up anguish over the relentless anti-Muslim agenda of the state and the media since 2014.

Good ... such periodic venting is necessary to disrobe the liberal/sickular elites of India.

Just extend the same rights to the Hindu community as well so that Hindus can establish their own cultural and religious schools without taxes and RTE. Just create a new article under the older laws like article 25,26, 27 etc.
May be a establish vedic board as well

Terrible news. Let’s hope it’s not used for pro-CAA propaganda. The CAA cutoff is 2014, and so of little use to minorities presently in Pakistan or the other notified countries.

1. Worried how this will play with Indian mangos.
2. Knows fully well that CAA is for people already inside Indian by 31-Dec-2014 but still carried propaganda about impacting the poor in India by talking away opportunities.

The moment that happens the seats for the OBC/ST/SC will reduce and it will be spun as anti-poor. Modi has nurtured the same base very carefully over the past 6 years and is unlikely to toss it all.

However, Sickulars parties fighting for the rights of lovable vs the rights of OBC/SC/ST to get their "fair" share is a fight that will be on Modi/BJP's terms.

I was for the bifurcation of secular vs religious education and RTE extension to all secular education but Bharat's idea of filtering by the religious intake of students will serve the same purpose while still firmly batting on the side of OBC/SC/ST and creating a level playing field between all schools imparting "secular education".

I know a couple of cases, where childrens got admission after the family gone through religious conversion in Chennai(2 years before).
School had not directly demanded those conversion, but done through a middle men.
This middle men will promise loan or admission, but sympathize that directive is to use for christian only..
In the end, this conversion thing will come from victim itself..after some days of that ritual..That middle men will get a letter from some one and ask the parents to apply for admission with that letter.

In the end, School is demanding and harvesting soul without directly getting their hands dirty.

I feel , the only solution to this is having a single education policy without any undue advantage to minority institutes.

Note: Dont know the current situation there in Chennai now.

one has never understood why a vital subject like education which is also funded massively by the state is ultimately left to the vagaries of illiterates both in madrasa chaap and conversion mafia institutions and the interests of over 80 odd % of the population is toyed with as well as compromised.

there is nothing even remotely secular about robbing ram to pay rahim and robert

It is a given that an overwhelming % of the taxes paid actually comes from the majority, however which way one wishes to slice the tax cake. It does not matter if the tax is income tax or it is the taxes paid to the state for goods and services in the form of GST and SGST and surcharges.

at the very the least the majority would expect a level playing field in the education of their children as well as affording them the equal opportunity through such education to secure the futures of their children.

must the majority be eternally condemned to always start off late in such a one horse race

or are children of some communities more equal than others

These things will take time. Whether you like it or not till a country builds its industrial and military capability they are answerable to those having such industrial and military capability. You can't be masters without it. Foreign funded NGO's which are probably the biggest sector in India control the narrative from shutting down our copper production. Unless this is tackled we cannot tackle these tactics.

BENGALURU: G Somashekara Reddy, Ballari City BJP MLA and brother of tainted mining baron G Janardhana Reddy cautioned Muslims against participating in anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act protests and warned them of dire consequences if they did. At a pro-CAA rally organised by the BJP and ABVP activists on Friday, he said: “We Hindus are 80% in India and if the 20% Muslim population damages our property, we cannot just stand by and watch.”

A video of the speech was widely shared moments after the rally.

“Bewakoofs (idiots) from Congress are lying to you on CAA and you are believing what they say and are coming out onto the streets. Imagine what your situation will be if we turn against you, ” he said.

Reddy suggested minorities need to adapt to Indian culture if they wanted to live in India. “This is our country. You have to live in our country, ” he said.

Quoting from a fake video of Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, he said: “If you want to stay in this country, you have to live as per our customs. If you don’t, we may send you back to your country. Make sure you don’t let such a situation come to pass.” In the fake video, Gillard is heard encouraging Muslims to leave the country.

The Congress, meanwhile, lashed out at him, saying he should be booked for making a provocative speech in public. “This shows the BJP’s mentality. He should be tried under law,”said a senior Congress functionary.

There is a great example from Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore. The state can follow a strict law based regime to bring order. You don't need to go overboard with police action.

Use existing law and rules 'strictly as per the book' relentlessly, and the juggernaut of GOVT will always win.

US Air Force claims to have killed the Iranian military number 1 & 2.

But their media is not asking for proof.

No demonstrations from fiberals or artists.

No protests from politically motivated parties.

No video proofs sought by Hollywood stars

^^Lahore was a Hindu Sikh city. Some Christian gifted it to Muslims. 1965 saw an impoverished India at the gates of Lahore. The next conflict will be orchestrated by India from a position of strength.

psssst: Among the many things I never wanted to find out: just how BIG is this t-har jail, to house all these rioters? Presumably they build it big enough to accommodate both Houses of parliament, but also the Assemblies of all the States?

Senator Lautenberg's Legislation Brought Thousands to Freedom

Jun 03, 2013

Blog Post

For more than two decades, Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey, who died this morning at age 89, championed legislation that created a safe escape route to freedom for persecuted religious minorities from many corners of the globe.

Today, HIAS joins the people of New Jersey and America in mourning his loss.

Growing up poor and the son of Jewish immigrants in Paterson turned Frank Lautenberg into a fighter, not just for the people of New Jersey, but for those living in danger many thousands of miles away. At a Washington DC Hillel event last week honoring the Senator, his wife Bonnie spoke poignantly, sharing that the Lautenberg Amendment was the Senator’s “proudest accomplishment.”
Since 1990, the Lautenberg Amendment has allowed thousands of Jews and other religious minorities from the former Soviet Union (FSU) to resettle in the U.S. as refugees. Today, the Lautenberg Amendment mostly helps Jews, Christians, Baha’is, and other religious minorities fleeing Iran.
Mark Hetfield, HIAS’ President and CEO, said, “Senator Lautenberg has earned the gratitude of hundreds of thousands of refugees for providing them with the opportunity to start new lives in the United States in safety, peace, and freedom. Both the refugees and our country have tremendously benefitted from the Lautenberg Amendment. His memory will be a blessing to all of us.”
The Senate “Gang of Eight” immigration reform bill, S. 744, seeks to preserve Senator Lautenberg’s legacy of protecting persecuted religious minorities, while creating new opportunities for other persecuted groups—with an emphasis on those seeking religious freedom—to receive protection.
“We are particularly grateful to Senator Lautenberg for his decades of unwavering commitment and leadership in protecting Jews and others who face persecution for their beliefs,” Hetfield said.
Mark Hetfield attended last week’s event honoring the Senator together with HIAS Board members Neil Moss, Marc Silberberg and Dianne Lob. While the Senator could not attend, most of the testimonies of the evening were about the importance of the Lautenberg Amendment in renewing Jewish lives and the lives of other persecuted religious minority members.
At the event, NCSJ (National Conference Supporting Jews in Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia) awarded their first Lautenberg Prize to the Genesis Philanthropy Group. Upon accepting it, Executive Director Ilia Salita spoke of other HIAS clients, noting that Russian speaking Jewish immigrants have brought to this country everything from "recipes for kugel to recipes for Google ..."
Senator Lautenberg has earned the gratitude of hundreds of thousands of refugees and refugee agencies like HIAS that have relied on his commitment to this legacy legislation and the countless lives it has saved. HIAS will continue to work to ensure that his legacy is honored in the current immigration reform debate and beyond.

Guys, talking about Lautenberg Amendment, please watch this debate on TimesNow hosted by Rahul Shivshankar. If ever there is a deserving award for journalism, he and his channel deserve it.

I am sure many would agree, but I having lived in US for 25+ years, I can unequivocally aver that US is a proud hardcore white Christian nationalist country and BTW, I have no problem with it), but its not easy to prove so simply based on constitutionality and charming rhetoric by its elites.

And its especially hard to do so in today's India, where you have an entire Lutyen elite, a 'liberal intelligentsia', and yes even Muslim elites who use USA's so called "unadulterated egalitarianism" to bash India.

And on the further extreme, you have bread-dead deracinated "Hindus" who will stand in a queue to clean Dexter Filkin's toilet even as he tarnishes Indian govt as "Hindu extremist" and poses as a champion for Muslim human rights for passing CAA, never mind that he sings peans in favor of a rabid white Christian nationalist like Trump for humiliating Iranian Muslims by assassinating one of their military commanders.

One needs hard irrefutable and immutable facts to show USA and its slaves like Burka Bibi and Undy the mirror. Rahul Shivshankar & team have done exactly that
