After Today's Shocking bandra incidence…This person Vinay Dubey is appealing labours to gather at Kurla Terminus on 18th of April.

I think Hon. HM Of State @AnilDeshmukhNCP knows him personally@DGPMaharashtra @MahaCyber1 pls look in to this matter pic.twitter.com/RgZafnx9V3

such morons need a closer acquaintance with a nice, well behaved and nonpatriarchal lamp post and such exemplary lamposts are a dog's best friend.

Anti-CAA protestor had launched ‘agitation’ against lockdown, urged migrants to gather at Mumbai railway stations: All you need to know

Mumbai saw an outpouring of migrants on the streets on Tuesday in Bandra and Mumbra where the Police had to use light force in order to dispel the crowd and community leaders had to make appeals in the name of Allah.

Now a video has surfaced where a man called Vinay Dubey can be seen inciting migrants to defy the nationwide lockdown imposed in the wake of the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic. The video was posted on his profile on Facebook on Saturday.

In the video, Vinay Dubey says that he will lead a ‘padayatra’ of migrants to Uttar Pradesh. He urged migrants to contact him on WhatsApp and leave a message if they wish to follow on his path. He condemns Prime Minister Modi and the decision of the central government to impose the nationwide lockdown. He gave an ultimatum to the government to solve the matter within the 14th and 15th April and if it wasn’t, then the said padayatra will begin by the 20th of April.

Vinay Dubey repeatedly makes the insinuation that it is better to die of the Wuhan Coronavirus than die of hunger. He says the sole blame for it will lie with the Central and state governments. He also ensures that he will take care of their food along the way. He further says that they have only two options, either to die where they are or reach their families. He says that their children, parents, wives and village is waiting for them.

A video was also posted on YouTube on the 14th of April, where he can be urging migrants to come out of the streets and gather at the Lok Manya Tilak Terminus. Not only in Mumbai, but he also urged migrants all across India to gather at the nearest railway station. He urged people to gather in lakhs on the streets and declared the beginning of a movement against the Central Government and the state governments. Vinay Dubey also professed great love for Balasaheb Thackeray and exhorts Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray to heed to his demands. He claimed that if Balasaheb Thackeray were alive, then the Shiv Sena stalwart would have heeded to his demands.

Vinay Dubey had also visited Shaheen Bagh and made a speech where he made incendiary remarks. Social media users have pointed out that it could very well be that the Home Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh knows him personally.

As 444 from Australia fly home, US nationals prefer to stay back

Apr 13, 2020,

NEW DELHI: As Australia repatriated 444 of its nationals on a special flight from New Delhi to Melbourne over the weekend, many others, particularly from the US, are opting to remain here, as US becomes the country worst hit by Covid-19.

Earlier this week, US officials said a number of American nationals preferred to remain in India even though the US state department was running special flights to take stranded Americans back home. US President Donald Trump tweeted that over 50,000 people had been taken back.

But a number of Americans are clearly opting to stay back. In a briefing with journalists in Washington DC earlier this week, US state department official Ian Brownlee said, “We had multiple thousands when we put in India the call out for expressions of interest in a flight, and yet over this weekend, our staff in India literally cold-called 800 people asking if they wanted to get on a flight today. We got 10 positive responses, 10 out of 800 calls. So that’s just an indication of the uncertainty of some of these numbers we’re looking at." He said they were tracking 24,000 US nationals still in India.

I guess most of these would be PIOs. Probably some of them are expats and some back packers. It's a good arrangement for them. Expenses are less, food is cheap, rent is cheap if they don't own a house. Perfect time to be jobless or working from a home and living in an inexpensive country. BTW, I think the repatriation is not free I think. Its 900 dollars.

Dr. Phil had a couple of people on the show from India. The cost for a flight back to the USA is in the neighborhood of $3000. Plus the cost is known only after reaching the USA. And the passenger is responsible for travel arrangements from the port of entry to their hometown.

It is of course true that fortunately the white Christian press is incorruptible by Asiatic money. And certainly Asiatic money would not induce any editorial slant (NO pun intended).

State Department is charging US travelers from India around $2000 for US repatriation flights. There is no charge at the time of taking flight but they will send a bill later.

In Canada, it was $2900.00 with a $5000.00 loan given for a certain period. Rupa S & Hubby Vivek D would have availed of this, as they were tweeting about getting back to Canada.

This piece, "Inside Macron's Coronavirus War" has some striking snippets on China, both on the "operational necessity" to cooperate now given current dependencies, and the tangible irritation at Beijing's behavior through the crisis: https://www.politico.eu/interactive/ins ... virus-war/

China requested the European aid be kept low-profile to save face, according to two European diplomatic officials. But Beijing has failed to return the favor. Instead, it has been showcasing deliveries of supplies to Italy and other European countries, even though much of the equipment has later been reported to be defective.
Sometime is it better to NOT hype help because it becomes counter productive. Beijing's failure to be restrained in its PR is also causing angst as are the defective supplies.

Indian media does not understand nuance and folks will do well to remember how the Nepalis reacted to the "over the top" coverage of the help India provided during the Nepal earthquake. Don't try to overshadow the local politicos because it invariably leads to resentment and backlash.

Recently, I had pointed out the same wrt Indian HCQ supplies to US. Here ..

With one tweet, India has risen. Super-symbol of India's rise. As a grateful US thanks 'saviour' India, @ShivAroor analyses how this boosts India power in the #Covid19 war. 5.30pm.
One did not need to "rub it in" when a grateful President Trump had already spoken highly of India's help.

Instead of "With one tweet, India has risen. Super-symbol of India's rise. As a grateful US thanks 'saviour' India" my commentary would have been a sober "US thanks India for its prompt decision on HCQ supplies" and showed the US presidents actual words and tweet to show his appreciation.

Only with A'hole like bakistan one needs to "rub it in".

Many of our journalists suffer from an intense inferiority complex.
First, they hype up every small issue with US as a big disaster.
Second, they do the reverse as well for any positive news.

The Indian media, overall, is one of the worst representatives for the country.

This would also be a job which requires minimum specialisation or special training. With 24/7 news channels any one roaming around with a microphone and a clueless camera man on tow becomes a "journalist". Compare this to any other profession where the professionals still get blasted for not doing things rightly. A doctor undergoes training for years, police personnel undergo trainings for 9-12 months and same applies for nurses & paramedics. Even the famous 'babus' of India (IAS, IPS, IFS) gets in through tough competitive exams, undergo trainings and then join the state machinery. Compare this with journalist crowd, who basically operate on the "you scratch my back, I scratch yours" mode. Journalism seems to be the easiest way in India to become a "well paid" turn coat.

Now, Deoband returnees pose a challenge to Telangana authorities
Even as the police felt relieved that they could identify all the participants of Tablighi Jamaat Markaz congregation in Nizamuddin and their primary and secondary contacts from the State, police have stumbled upon people attending yet another similar congregation, around the same time in Uttar Pradesh.

The congregation at Deoband in that State took place simultaneously with that of Nizamuddin. On Sunday, two out of three returnees of Deoband reported positive for COVID-19 in Nirmal district. Top brass in Telangana police told The Hindu that several people from the State went to Deoband from March 9 to 11 at Mohammadi Masjid, just adjacent to the Darul Uloom Islamic University. Incidentally, the dates were just ahead of the event at Nizamuddin, 150 km away from Deoband.

I have a different POV on this. Having lurked here for over a decade and attended the BRF Delhi meet, my humble 2 cents to the Gurus.

While I agree the barriers to entry in the profession are not as high as compared to other professions but there are institutes such as IIMC etc where entry is given on competitive merit and students are given in-ground and on-job training. Basis my experience with engaging with them - found most of them to be very intelligent, subject-matter experts and passionate. The regular folk is just like what you would find in any other profession.

the MAH pappus, father and son, have both been set up for the ceremonial slaughter like a set of fattened bakras that have been carefully prepared for id sacrifice.

It was truly a stealthily delivered halal cut where these pappus only knew their necks had been cut when they tried to move their heads and the heads fell off.

even their choices of the locality are significant: bandra and mumbra, where the sitting MLAs are both from their own coalition partners.

How Travellers Without Luggage In Bandra May Have Pushed Uddhav Thackeray’s Tenure As CM Into The Twilight Zone

Venu Gopal Narayanan

Apr 15, 2020,
The Congress blamed the police, temporarily forgetting that they were part of the government, and, that Maharashtra’s Home Minister was none other than their own coalition partner member, Anil Deshmukh of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Deshmukh blamed rumour mongers. His party blamed the administration. Siddique blamed the administration for not providing food to the purported migrants.

The BJP blamed Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his party, the Shiv Sena (SS). Everyone blamed Modi. Someone even blamed NGOs.

But no one admitted the truth: that this is what happens when ideologically opposing parties like the Congress, the NCP and the SS come together to form a government of deplorable convenience and administrative impracticability.

No one admitted that the congregation in Bandra appeared a little too spontaneous for digestion, coming as it did a few short hours after Modi made it explicitly clear that the lockdown would continue.

No one admitted that the abject brazenness on display in Bandra was not a congregation, but an implicit protest. For, sometime later, a similar incident was played out in Mumbra, where too, a huge crowd openly defied lockdown orders. There was even a twist in the tale.

Snapshot
The coronavirus pandemic has exposed the strain in the multi-party coalition in power in Maharashtra.

And now, it might be too late for Uddhav Thackeray to reconsider any part of it.

Sometime during the afternoon of 14 April, thousands of people claiming to be migrants congregated at a mosque near Bandra station in Central Mumbai, in the midst of a nation-wide lockdown.

They said they were following rumours that trains had started running again, and wished to return to their native lands. As it often happens, the crowd transformed into a mob, things got out of hand, and the police, risking exposure to the Wuhan Virus, had to eventually resort to multiple lathi charges to clear the area.

In the end, some sort of calm was achieved after Zeeshan Siddique, the local legislator, said the right words.

Almost immediately, the usual complaint boxes exploded in a frenzy of allegations.

So, when a grave Uddhav Thackeray addressed a press meeting later in the evening, the irony of the moment could not have been greater.

He spoke in platitudes, like a child might to an infant, not touching here, not touching there, and avoiding the afternoon’s incidents like an epidemic, if not the plague.

And in his speaking, Thackeray showed why the will of the people is disregarded only at their own peril.

Placing the adharma of coalition dharma above public safety, especially during as grave a situation as a raging epidemic in Mumbai, speaks volumes about priorities. But that is where we are today in Maharashtra.

Now, this is not about whether Thackeray is capable of managing anything more complicated than a paper clip, or not.

This is also not about how visibly fazed and off-colour he looked, during his banality-ridden soliloquy masquerading as a press conference.

This is not about why he made no reference to the Bandra incident, until, with heavy reluctance, he was made to offer a desultory cross-bat to a straight delivery from a journalist.

This is not even about how India was sadly gifted a prime example, of why inherently-contradictory coalitions are administratively counter-productive, morally indefensible, and dangerously inept, especially in times of crisis.

No. This was simply about Uddhav Thackeray finally realising that he cannot have the cake and eat it too.

Unfortunately, he hasn’t just entered too far into a discombobulating twilight zone, but fallen into a rabbit hole of ‘Nehruvian-Secularist’ proportions as well, for there to be any hope of an unscathed return.

He cannot escape. Having gotten into bed with the secularists, there must he lie, even if it means putting the lives of our citizens at needless risk.

Why else would his government make such a meal of preventing these gatherings in Bandra and Mumbra?

What is so special about these protesters that make him turn a blind eye to their strident, adversarial defiance of lockdown protocols? The answers lie in the choices he made.

Sadly, it needn’t have been that way. For, as long as he was with the BJP, everything was just fine. When his father passed away, the BJP stood firmly by him to weather the leadership challenge posed by his cousin Raj Thackeray.

When India started rising above caste prejudices to ride the Modi wave, the BJP made sure that Thackeray and his party were given their due — even as the Shiv Sena’s vote share slid from election to election.

It was galling, it was grating, but the BJP kept their flock in check — at heavy organisational cost — so that this dynast wasn’t spooked.

But ambition grew quietly in him; rising, burning, unalloyed, which was fuelled each passing year, by the urgency of getting his ducks in a row, so that his own dreams, and his political bloodline, might be furthered.

And so the great betrayal of 2019 came to pass, when, without a care in the world, he stiffed his political partner and joined hands with the ‘enemy’.

The prima donna with a passion for photography was now Chief Minister of Maharashtra. And to Hades with piffling abstracts like morality and loyalty.

Yet, once on the outside, he learnt to his chagrin that the big bad world he’d been shielded from thus far — first by his father, and then by his partners, had discomfortingly turned on its head. Wrong became right, and night became light.

Thackeray quickly discovered that he had chosen poorly. Siding with the secularists didn’t just mean ideological compromise, but humiliating bargains as well, wherein zero-sum outcomes had to be borne by his party alone.

See how the Congress — past-masters at the game of courtly intrigue — made him sweat for every cabinet berth?

However, there was no getting around this, because on the other flank stood Sharad Pawar — easily India’s most canny politician, with the wealth of Croesus behind, an Atlas of a sugar lobby in front, and a man who could milk blood from a stone in his sleep.

No wonder that the NCP’s Jitendra Awhad, a minister in Thackeray’s cabinet, and, surprise, surprise, legislator for Mumbra, rages against the machine — even if he is running it.

The Thackeray scion was finally trapped in the twilight zone. And that is where he stands today, while Mumbai comes to terms with the true, horrific implications of many thousands having congregated for extended durations in Bandra and Mumbra.

There is no escape from here, and his coalition will not stand the test of time. That is guaranteed. It is only a question of the cost which will have to be borne by the residents of Maharashtra, until the present political dispensation collapses under the weight of its own, mutual exclusivities.

And the twist in the tale? The purported migrants, who allegedly congregated in purely spontaneous fashion at a closed Bandra railway station, to board trains which were not running, as per rumours which have not been traced, were not carrying their luggage.

Now why is that?

One did not need to "rub it in" when a grateful President Trump had already spoken highly of India's help.

Instead of "With one tweet, India has risen. Super-symbol of India's rise. As a grateful US thanks 'saviour' India" my commentary would have been a sober "US thanks India for its prompt decision on HCQ supplies" and showed the US presidents actual words and tweet to show his appreciation.

Only with A'hole like bakistan one needs to "rub it in".

Arun poorie and India today is as leftist and urban naxalite as they come.

They want to give ammunition to trump hater librandu media so they can instigate Trump and other Americans against Modi and India.

Just like cnn with fake news "Trump threatens Modi" gave ammunition to Modi hating opposition, intellectuals and librandus in India.

CT :
The Bandra fiasco was deliberate, well thought out superspreading event. Designed to show its true aftermath at the end of the current lockdown period, to possibly contract and show a massive explosion in numbers. This could mainly be to
- Discredit the Best CM, leading to a hostile takeover of CMship by the lesser partners.
- Discredit the central govt by activating the PR machinery. Phoren press would be especially ecstatic to know about the failures of the "Unwashed natives". Eye candy for PeePeeCee and WacoPost and NYT especially if there are visuals of despair.

On France/EU sending masks and supplies to China in Feb:
Underneath the talk about Droits de l'Homme, there lies a clear feeling of superiority over other races and the need to do virtue signalling. Helping others is at least in part motivated by the need to feel (for self) & show (to others) superiority. This is a prime example of that.

No one outside India really understands or thinks on the lines of "Vasudhaika Kutumbam".

For those who still subscribe to this hoax, this runs in opposite direction to theory of survival of the fittest. Our ancestors were egoistic but not stupid.

That the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is used by deceitful characters in our stories (which are a treasure of delight by the way) doesn't make the concept itself a hoax. I would argue that when one says the world is but a single family, we also imply that everyone in the the world must live by some rules, show solidarity and not malice to make the family stick together, survive and prosper.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is an intention and an aspiration, not a delusion.

Sorry for going off topic, lets stop here.

The letter written by Islamabad seeking help from the Indian government for the movement of Pakistani citizens to Wagah border also mentions that all the returnees be screened as per the international standards and existing methods employed by the Government of India and only asymptomatic individuals be allowed to return.

If mods will indulge me...

The linked blog is a paragon of scholarship, intellectual acuity and fine-grained thinking. It should inspire us to emulate its qualities.

In that spirit, I want to suggest that there is a huge difference between a state choosing to profess "vasudhaiva kutumbakam" on its own merits (which can be debated) and ascribing to that same quotation the authority of India's antique core civilization and culture. The hoax and fraud is in the latter, in appropriating Indian culture to justify and support what is essentially one's own whimsical thought, when there is no factual basis for such appropriation.

Arun poorie, Aaj tak, India today chameleons

So Story starts in 2011 when India Against corruption was in peak. For the first time English media was dominating. Leading the charge & setting the Agenda was Arnab Goswami @TimesNow .Ahmed Patel P Chidambaram at that time meet Aroon Purie (India Today) Raghav Rajdeep (CNN IBN)

And Prannoy Roy NDTV. Attempts where made to Separate all channels from @TimesNow specially Arnab Goswami. But it was too late. People's where on the streets & ecosystem was checkmated .

During this Time Living media under whom @IndiaToday comes that time (Headlines Today) which was financially understress asked Ahmed Patel & P chidambaram to bail them out.

Come 2012 Miya Patel & P Chidambaram persuaded Kumar Mangalam birla To bail out @aroonpurie Living Media.

In May 2012 Kumar Birla picked 27.5 % in Living Media Ltd . The first Story after Birla stake in Headlines Today was Alleged Snoop Case of Gujarat & Ishrat Jahan Encounter case. Just 6 months before Gujarat assembly elections.

But all this allegations backfired on Ecosystem Modi Won Gujarat 2012 handsomely . This didn't stop Anti Modi campaign of Headlines Today Till June 2013 it tried it's best so that BJP don't announce him as PM candidate.

Once MODI was announced @aroonpurie & Kumar Birla changed their position seeing the changing direction of wind . During this period kumar Birla increased his stake from 27.5 to 35 % (hear comes the scam which I will reval during this thread ) 7.5 %increase .

Come May 2014 Things turned upside down for the corporate world specially those corporates who were closed to Gandhi family.

In Aug 2014 when Modi Government went After NDTV. Fearing that he will be next kumar birla tried to sell his stake in LIVING MEDIA. But Aroon Purie meet Arun Jaitley Along with Kumar birla asking for assurance that Government will not go after their media house.

Jaitley Assured them .Aroon Purie Freindship with Jaitley came to his rescue. Birla holded his decision of selling his stake. And that's how India Today survived.

Here comes the twist After December 2018 assembly results @aroonpurie & kumar birla again started Anti BJP campaign whether it was showing of Rahul Gandhi on Magazine cover or Rafael Story day after day its turned more & more Anti BJP .

All was hunky dory for the ecosystem & @aroonpurie uptill 26th FEBRUARY 2019 that day was the biggest blow for the ecosystem. That day SEALED 2019 for @narendramodi . Cunning Purie & Birla again made the U Turn turned in its editorial position shifted to PRO BJP .

Modi returned in 2019 but this time their was no Jaitley to help for the likes of Purie . AMIT SHAH was calling the shots government adds to India today & some channels got big cut in NAMO GOVERNMENT 2.0

Facing the crunch Purie again reached out to Congress . Birla too was angry by government because of Vodafone Idea issue. Enters Kamalnath & Ahmed Miya Patel Tango .

Kamalnath promised add revenues & political clout to both @aroonpurie & Kumar birla Add packages of as many as 180 cr was promised to purie.

Suddenly after kamalnath deal @IndiaToday once started doing anti government story's on economy & Job .They Got more & more emboldened after Congress formed Government in Maharashtra & Jarkhand.

See how viscous & anti government their stand & coverage was during CAA protest & Delhi elections .weather its JNU episode or fake tapes on ABVP . With each passing day @IndiaToday was trying to become Times Now of 2011 to 2014 .Turning CAA protest into @narendramodi IAC moment

During this period kumar birla also added fire on economic front by going public & saying that we will have to shut our shop if government doesn't intervene. All this was a calculated move to up the ante against the Government both on economic & socio front.

Amit Shah luckly came with short in his arm in 3rd week of January2020. When he digged out 7.5 % stake matter (remember 27.5 %to 35%) k Birla stake in the living media during 2012 to 2014. only Modi was aware of this because Jaitley told him .shah asked @aroonpurie to meet him .

Aroon Purie along with @supriyapd went to meet shah without any pleasantries shah put some documents in front of them & told our government is hear minimum for 50+ months . I will make sure that your shop gets closed make no mistake about it .

Listening to that Aroon Purie just got worried and asked what mistake he committed for shah anger. Shah said asked this question to yourself. After Delhi elections None of my party spokesperson will be on your Debates like NDTV. Saying this much shah got up & went for other meet

Aroon Purie after hearing all this from shah dailed to PMO for an urgent meet with PM @narendramodi which got declined. Purie then asked Kumar birla to pacify shah & told the whole story .Birla also didn't got chance to speak with shah .so he called @rsprasad .

@rsprasad told him that he will get back to him after talking with Shah . First shot was fired @AmitShah asked Purie to toe the line . Purie agreed & then came the second demand of SHAH to throw Rahul kanwal Out of India Today. Purie said it will be counter productive.

Shah replied back it doesn't matter & put down the phone. Aroon Purie conveyed this to Rahul kanwal & asked him that if he can calm Shah Anger .Rahul kanwal tried to call Shah which Shah didn't replied.

Next day early morning 7:00 AM (Delhi winter) Rahul kanwal was on shah home without appointment some how shah gave him time .Rahul first sentence was I am sorry I was just toeing kaali purie orders . I have nothing against BJP.

To which shah replied that it doesn't matter I will make sure that you will be the next barkha dutt in the market. At this moment Rahul asked just one last chance to Shah after that he will not let him down. Shah asked him to stay away from Delhi campaign coverage & he obliged

Matter shaant for time being . Aroon Purie & Kumar Birla decide to shut Delhi Aaj tak post Delhi elections & Trump visit .

Come March with the arrest of Yes Bank chairman Rana Kapoor & chances of kamalnath lossing power in MP another media baron got worried. Enters the name of @Raghav_Bahl & @TheQuint

Raghav knew his game is up post 2019 he was always under the stress with Rana Arrest & Kamalnath on the verge of losing MP he decided to sell quint. He contacted his freind a Politician from Maharashtra who runs the biggest Bidi business in country.

Bidi king was aware of Kumar Birla plan of winding up Delhi Aaj tak so he asked if he interested in buying Digital news media network. Kumar birla showed interest.

In the third week of March meeting was set up between @Raghav_Bahl @aroonpurie & Bidi king at a five star hotel in bandra Mumbai.

Aroon Purie showed interest in buying quint. So both raghav & aroon decided to meet again this time in NCR . Aroon Purie without any knowledge that both bidi king & Raghav are under agency watch came back to delhi.

Next day both Aroon Purie & kumar birla received the call that 7.5 % stake matter will go under inquiry. And they both will pay heavy price for it.

In the meantime coronavirus & lockdown came so matter put on hold . The sudden Pro BJP turn or you may say PRO HINDU turn of @IndiaToday is nothing but sucking up exercise.

For the long time both @narendramodi & @AmitShah did gave long rope to @aroonpurie Hope now they will take action. Thread ends . #JaiHind

These so called meritorious students must have all left journalism then. Just take a look at any news channel and point to the number of stories or topics they talk about that they really know.

What subject matter expertise do they really possess? Of what use is the passion or intelligence if they spend most of it in trying to run down Indian interests? In India and abroad? Most act like willing subversives who are addicted to a particular thought process.

Both of you are right. I know somebody who was journalist, studied in one of the well known schools in the South finishing a Masters in Journalism and went on to work for Print Media & then TV. Was constantly harassed by the EJs trying to convert and said that many of the Seniors were sexual predators and there were folks willing to be "victims" to gain advancement. No longer in the field.

What I found interesting was that as a rookie in the noughts, was given strict instructions to stay away from BRF!
