^^(Cheen-India C-17 lovefest) Seems more complex. If the C-17 arrives the Indian and Myanmarese and other citizens will be freed from hostage situation. Cheen seem to be using them as bargaining chips for something: "Indian restrictions on trade and free movement of people". Can't be about any equipment: if India is short of it, it must be available elsewhere for cheen. The flights/ visa cancellations seem to be the khulji; non-Indian (chinese) citjens coming from India are not being allowed. IOW, it's all about keeping trade flowing.

Other possibility is the Tarrel Fiends worrying about the Optics of Honor & Dignity & Sovirginity: Indians evacuated on Indian military plane, while Paki C-130s that once transported nukes to North Korea via cheen, not able to get their engines started to go pick up their students from WooHan.

They had no problem with the Air India flight. The globemaster is a potent symbol of a certain convergence of American/Indian interests. Also China does not have heavy lift capability in the same class.

I agreed it probably has to do with the C-17. Probably afraid of Amreeki spyware. Their equivalent is the Y-20 which is all over the Wuhan airport and where the IAF C-17 has to land.

Chinis probably paranoid about proximity of C-17 to those.

Ashokk wrote:Some restrictions imposed on export of medical equipment to China: India
NEW DELHI: India on Sunday said some restrictions were imposed on export of certain medical equipment to China in view of their short supply within the country and asserted that precautions taken by authorities were in accordance with the WHO's advisory on coronavirus.
The comments by the Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs came after China raised the issue of India restricting export of certain medical supplies to it following the coronavirus epidemic in that country.
"It is hoped that the Indian side could review the epidemic situation in an objective, rational and calm manner, handle with China's much-needed items in a cooperative and constructive way, and resume normal personnel exchanges and trade between our two countries as soon as possible," Chinese Embassy Spokesperson Ji Rong said earlier.
She said the World Health Organisation has repeatedly opposed any travel and trade restrictions on China following the coronavirus outbreak and that all parties should follow the recommendations by the global body.
Replying to a query on the issue, MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said the precautions taken by India are in accordance with the WHO's advisory about the outbreak of coronavirus infection.
He said some restrictions have been imposed on the export of certain medical equipment to China in view of shortage of their supply in India too.
"Just like any other country, India with a billion plus population has the responsibility to take the necessary measures to combat the spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak which, if not properly managed, can become a global risk," he said.
He said that responding to the needs of China, India had allowed a one time exemption for the export of some items which had been restricted.

The MEA spokesperson also mentioned about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier this month, offering India's assistance to China in the "hour of need".
Kumar also referred to India's decision to send medical relief on board a special flight to China and hoped that the Chinese authorities will give permission for the aircraft to go to the country.
"In a humanitarian gesture of medical relief, a gift reflecting the solidarity of the people of India with the people of China, is expected to be delivered to Wuhan by a special flight," he said.
"We have also called upon the Chinese authorities to allow Indian citizens and those of our neighbouring countries to return by the same flight. We hope that they will give it positive consideration," Kumar said.
On Saturday, government sources said that China was "deliberately delaying" permission for the Indian Air Force plane to coronavirus-hit Wuhan to supply relief materials and bring back more Indians from the city.
They said though flights from Japan, Ukraine and France were allowed to operate from Wuhan, Indian request was not heeded to so far.
Last week, Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong urged India to review restrictions on trade and movement of people.
Almost all Indian airlines have stopped flights to China while the government has cancelled all e-visas as well as normal visas issued to Chinese citizens.
India has already evacuated around 640 Indians from Wuhan, the epicentre of coronavirus outbreak, in two separate flights. According to estimates, over 100 Indians are still stuck in Wuhan.

India has soft-banned export of N95 face masks, considering that it is costly & in short supply & the supplies are not commensurate to control a rapid pandemic if the situation arises.

https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/pdfs/Un ... ic-508.pdf

A N95 mask is different from the regular face mask which most of the cheenis love to wear to show how afraid & panicked they are.

It is surprising that cheen itself did not stick up on such masks & it's own manufacturing capacity of quality masks us behind.

Indian government is well within it's rights to ensure flu like diseases do not become pandemic. Having successfully fought out the 2009 swine flu & then nipah virus, the protocols in Indian medical institutes are far sophisticated than Chinese.

Now chicom is upset that they are being shown as naked just like bakis - actically brilliant like constructing leaky hospitals but strategically stupid. And hence the angst.

From swarajyamag

Notably, India had earlier announced that it will send Indian Air Force's largest plane, C-17 Globemaster, with medical supplies to Wuhan, and bring back its nationals as well as citizens from all neighbouring countries who were still stuck there on the return flight.

In the past month, India has evacuated 647 Indian nationals, 7 Maldivians and few other Bangladeshi nationals aboard its two evacuation missions.

Masks is one visible example. For example in India both 3M & local companies manufacture it. Like http://www.grinhealth.com/

It is not just the quantity but quality also matters. like bakis having four wives & no kids, while sdre Hindus with one wife & saying 'do keh baad kabhi nahi'!

Companies do not like to lose their product & process patents.

PCR kits is another example.

I think China dragging out the permission for the C17 flight is because of:

1. The ban on export of face masks and gloves. Not that it going to may a major impact on supplies within China but the symbolism.
2. More important IMO is the GOI's virtually blanket ban on anybody from China or any other national who has visited China in the last 14 days from coming to India. If you noticed the cancellation of all existing e-visas by GOI was done after the 2nd Air India evacuation flight. That move must have stung the Chinese and so now that there is a need for a 3rd flight, they are dragging it out. Very few countries have imposed this kind of a blanket ban on Chinese citizens from entering. India's response is one of the tougher ones. I don't think the kind of aircraft i.e. Air India 747 vs IAF C17 has anything to do with it.

^^ Can't understand the MEA logic. Seems like a steady stream of mask supplies would be a good way to keep up the Panchsheel. Could this be retaliation for cheen not acknowledging prior desh support? I got that feeling from the "calm, objective" etc advice which is always cheen reaction to having been caught doing haraam things. (doklam redux). Also, masks are mass-production items: how does 3M plan to protect IP by **NOT** selling the product to the largest market on Earth? Right now they could sell 1.4B of those for starters, with replacements to follow!

Makes no sense, except that MEA is teachig their cheen counterparts some manners. Perhaps when Eleven finds out **WHY** the evil yindoos are mad and not "calm, rational" etc, some cheen-MEA types are going to get Re-Educated in Need 4 Humility at the Gobi REC. Hence the panic from Beijing on what is otherwise a non-issue.

I would think that initially they did not think it was anything different from prior editions. Then patients started dying/ getting brought in DOA. So they scrambled to find out what was new. This is why fatality rate was 100% for initial patients. They they learned..

Anyway they had no treatment for it, which is what led to the panic. Now they seem to be able to stabilize patients, leading to much better recovery record. Looks like one just has to provide life support until the body kicks in the defences.

Dear Yakki,

I am worried about this thing with Indian perspective. We are calm, why? Incompetence? Ostrich babus? Or simply better understanding?

I have a feeling that some Chinese forced medical protocols may be leading to rapid deaths. After all Chinese DOCTORS are dying. This is inexplicable.

Oddly enough, WHO seems to be running around with its thumb in its ass.

My guess:- Epidemic is much older in China than being portrayed. Perhaps started spreading in August, they did not catch it, fed medicines which broke down immunity & is now causing lots of deaths.

The question is why are we sending a C-17 now when a regular old AI 747 was good enough earlier?

Are we transporting more materials/aid? Are we unsure of ground support in Wuhan for unloading/loading the aircraft? Are we using this opportunity to get familiar with flying over China?

There is definitely some trade tension - whether the export of masks/other equipment, or questioning our huge dependence on Chinese phama APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients). There was also some article in a Chinese rag about India not showing support to China at this critical juncture - this was before PM's letter to eleven. However trade is down for reasons of (lack of) logistics, and factories being shut and nothing we can do about it till China recovers.

The South Korean spike in cases seems to be directly attributable to that church of whatever and its policy of forced communion and service (proselytization - the church itself says this is the expected service, no secret here) in the face of sickness. Imagine spreading the disease to hundreds of your compatriots because your church told you to do so  .

The Indian way is - avoid temples (social places) if you are sick, have had a death in the family, etc. If you went to a house of death, avoid coming in through your front door, go through the back door (where the bathroom is) after you have thoroughly washed yourself, head to foot. Avoid temples if your occupation is inherently dirty or hazardous (carrying dead bodies or fecal matter). In fact, avoid sharing the common food and water supply, and if possible, live outside town. Sounding familiar, along the lines of a certain "patriarchy?" Great time to highlight the contrast and the difference in outcome, i.e., the ease of spread of disease (that's a good one - "ease of disease").

Two data points:
1. Have received enquiry for 3ply surgical mask for export to Cheen from people not in the business (neither I am in this business) in the past week. Price has gone up from about 1 RS to 15 RS and no availability.

2. Know of two manufacturers whose shipment has not arrived from Cheen. One is stuck at Port. This is of intermediate goods for manufacturing in India.

Not sure if 3M has a manufacturing unit in Cheen that caters to local as well as the export market. Further, at $10 per mask, that will be $14 Billion of cost to Cheen for 1.4B ppl. 3M and other suppliers can act as bakis and raise the price to $20 per mask. So now it will be $28 billion.

And the production capacity is not such that it can be ramped up like a Mangalyaan. Even that thing had to do immense gravity pumping to reach Mar's orbit. Not sure how much pumping Eleven ping ping has to do or take.

Makes no sense, except that MEA is teachig their cheen counterparts some manners. Just to add to the above data point, 3-ply surgical masks are different from the N-95 mask. The first one is a filtration mask and the later one is a respirator.

https://blogs.cdc.gov/niosh-science-blog/2009/10/14/n95/

Using one for other is not recommended at all! That is surgical masks are useless when N-95 respirators are required.

https://www.osha.gov/Publications/respirators-vs-surgicalmasks-factsheet.html

They do offer some psychological crutch like the crutches bakis use., Bakis who put on aluminium foil underwear before they go for jeehad.

Added later: Indians are true jugaadus. They just will write up the ISI standard copying NIST or Euro- like Bharat-VI and do a better quality check and implementation against it than most 3rd world countries.

very important source on origin of corona virus
some points from source

- most research on sars and mers corona (progenitor) virus happened in University of North Carolina bsl-3 labs where they were busy weaponizing the sars/mers virus.

- all bsl3/bsl4 labs in US routinely send research scholars all over globe surfing for deadly pathogens.

- these pathogens are brought back to bsl3/4 labs with sole intention to weaponize and vaccine formulation happens only after weaponizing has been completed. The idea behind bsl3/4 labs is not to create vaccines, that is secondary, but main intent is to weaponize.

- Wuhan bsl4 lab obtained the virus from University of NC and where busy in creating a turbo-charged' resistant varient of the NC supervirus when it probably leaked from their lab.

- Leaks of pathogens from bsl3/4 are pretty common and occur every once in a while.

- Safe quarantine period for corona virus is subject of discord.

Universal - 14 days
Yale - 24 days
North Korea - 30 days.

It has even killed italian origin people and Iranian people. Other than that most of the dead are asian origin people.

Please do not for a moment think that Indians are magically immune. Speculation can be China was developing varients that targeted westerners and americans were creating varients that targeted east asians (chinese?), so in the end the leaked virus ended up having properties to targeting asians and westerners. So in all probability chinese had not completed work in isolating Asians from virus target pool.

There are many cellular and molecular research labs in India that share data and feedback on 'resistance' of Indian population samples to various virus with universities and labs in US. If they want to they can create India specific pathogen.

N95 masks are available on Amazon. Thicker than usual particle masks. Pretty standard for use with toxic dust as with sanding painted surfaces. Exotic features I see for "respirator" is that the Model 8511 comes with a "cool flow valve". Maybe exhalation does not come up the face and steam up goggles (my biggest problem in using this for cleaning yak stables in Mongolia). Don't know if it does that or not.
Interestingly on amazon the sellers have not "raised prices". How herrowic! Instead they JACKED UP "shipping". Check for yourself: $4 for a set of 10 masks. $299 shipping!!!!! But they are still available at reasonable price from several other sellers, in packs of 2, about $7.50 to $10 each, free shipping. Remains to be seen if they will arrive in a week. Fortunately one has a few from sanding/stable-cleaning jobs.
The more exotic Respirators with the side charcoal filters like wearing a donkey nose, are much more expensive.
