2020 US election results discussion
2020 US election results discussion
The 2020 US election results have a potential for impact to India.
Republican Trump supports India and has/is
- Signed many pacts BECA etc
- Against China and Pakistan
- Supported Art 370 and CAA acts.
Democrat Biden
-Supports China and many of his think tank support Pakistan
- Is against A370 and CAA
So the results will be of interest to India and Indians
Please discuss the results and any policy impacts coming out.
As an example of official interest the MEA Secy stated India will work with either winner.
In past Modiji was hosted at Howdy Modi in Houston which Trump addressed. The then Democrat frontrunner rented a tent and harangues Modi and India. Biden then was in 5th place and did not say anything.
Later India hosted Namaste Trump in Gujarat, India to record crowds.
Thanks for participation.

By about 6:00 PM West coast time most of US would have voted. Poll estimates are that west coast states of Ca, WA, and Oregon will vote Democrat and results can be taken for granted. So they expect by 8:00 PM west coast time we will know the winner.

Yes, officially, GoI will welcome the mandate of the people.
Earlier this summer I said this to my friends in desh
Am confident JS and team are upto handling the over the board issues, though they will have to work that much harder.
It's the unofficial which is tricky to tackle as most Desi Educated folks are still enamored by western establishment.

That is the Harris/Biden gang will use the media, academia and NGO network against our civilization. If Trump is not reelected, public discourse, media as well as political, will find a new evil, a new enemy on Wednesday Nov 4th:
that evil will be Hindu and that enemy will be India

Re: 2020 US election results discussion
In US the only state that officially can start counting is Florida. It started (though cannot announce the winner till all ballots are counted). Rest of the state we will start to know within few hours. If the exit poll shows a clear winner then we will know who it is, if it is too close to call, the wait will be longer.
In any case, here is the Florida update so far -

Palm Beach county shows R lead TODAY at 17k. I expect Miami-Dade to have an R lead of 1.5 to 2 times Palm Beach's. Hillsborough and other counties will add the total to be in 240k-270k range and might even go up to 300k when all counties report. Trump should win by 3-4 pts

Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Isnt Miami-Dade a hispanic majority staunch democratic fortress ? There are news of problems in northern VA , Pittsburgh PA & Philadelphia PA. Also hearing counties in NC allowing voting without checking IDs.

I am in California
Surprisingly many Indians knowing Trump's pro-India and anti-China/Packee stance have voted for him at the last moment.

Those votes are wasted in sunshine states like Cali where the lead is significant for Dems. They would've counted for something in the midwest.Haridas wrote:I am in California

Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Number of reports suggesting that booths in normally very red locations have very less traffic. To me, this indicates that a lot of the republicans voted early and the huge numbers we saw in early voting is not altogether a great sign for the Dems.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
That's the exact reverse of what i've read that the dems voted in large numbers during early voting and republicans and undecided voters showed up today in large numbers resulting in mile long lines everywhere. Either ways voters from both sides feel very strongly about this election.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
At 67% voter turnout this has already been a record breaking election.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Then shouldn't the thread by LOCKED until the results are out? We need to analyze the reality that comes out -- not hyperventilate on the basis of our insecurities and prejudices. You can spend a lot of time and energy analyzing a proposed policy which may never come into fruition because the candidate lost.ramana wrote:Please discuss the results and any policy impacts coming out.

Interesting. Re: 2020 US election results discussion
What's missing is a central database to cross check voter information. My cell phone number has seen many elections but this is the only election where I have received umpteen number of text messages asking me to vote where I have never been. Also being referred to all sorts of Indian names except my correct one. Names that aren't in my contact list to think that there was some intermingled database. It would have been nice to be able to cross check my information across the centralized voter database.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
total madness on all channels. VA is showing trump lead but has been given to Biden by FOX
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Assoc. Press showing VA has been won by Biden Harris.
BidenHarris-------39% of vote--------541,257
Trump-------------59.2% of vote------822,761
With 29% reporting.

ADM is the right term.
EDIT: Thx Nachiket, will learn as I go along.

Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Florida called for Trump. He's easily leading in Georgia as well, but trailing in Texas by a small amount and in North Carolina as well.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
It depends on which districts report first. There are some which are solidly democrat and some are solidly republican. So they can figure out the winner based on how many votes he gets in certain contested areas.sudarshan wrote:Assoc. Press showing VA has been won byBidenHarris.

Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Who would have thought Texas and NC would be such a struggle for GoP ? Its the migration into these two states from CA and North Eastern states that has permanently altered the electoral equations. The same will happen to SC and TN too in the years to come as people flee the high crime, high tax democrat states.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
So they flee Democrat rule to bring in Democrat rule?
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Ironically yes. People move for economic reasons, retirees and even younger folks have relocated to the Carolinas in large numbers from NE states in the last few years mainly because of cost of living reasons. TX has been a hot destination for both corporates and people fleeing CA, so it now has a fast changing demographic makeup compared to 10 yrs ago. These states are where VA was 2 decades ago, a solidly republican state/battleground state now turned blue.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Texas seems to be turning Red. Trump seems to be ahead in popular vote...
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
If you remember Ted VS Beto election, Texas turned red by a landslide in later part of counting. Same here. It will go Trump.V_Raman wrote:Texas seems to be turning Red. Trump seems to be ahead in popular vote...
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Things looking very good for Trump- Ohio, Texas etc are all heading back to him. Michigan looking like its heading the Trump way too. We may just have escaped the possibility of dealing with a hostile Dem Govt.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Saar, Even with the flight of folks from CA and NE to Texas it will remain red a million or two will not upset the apple cart. Just the cities like Austin, Dallas, San Antonio & Houston are blue. The rest of the state is uniformly red including many Hispanic majority areas.V_Raman wrote:Texas seems to be turning Red. Trump seems to be ahead in the popular vote...

Even immigrants from south america - educated hi-tech employees who i know - were voting for Trump in WA state. So popular vote % will be interesting...

All theatrics in Michigan seems to have paid off for the Trump campaign...
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Seems like many places ballot is switching from machine to paper. Between early voting, absentee ballot, and hybrid voting (electronic and paper) chances are high that there could be a repeat of Bush-Gore legal battle.

Trump on track to win the state of Florida as Biden falls behind in Miami
Washington: US President Donald Trump is on track to win a slew of battleground states, keeping alive his hopes of again stunning the world by winning a second term in the White House.
Associated Press declared Iowa for Trump at 4.19pm on Wednesday (AEDT). He was well placed to win Florida, Texas, Georgia and North Carolina, killing off Democrats’ hopes of achieving a definitive election-night repudiation of his time in office.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
The Midwest Holds the Key for Biden
In order to win the Senate, Democrats need to pick up three seats if Biden wins and four if Trump does. So far each party has taken one seat from the other: in Colorado, the Democrat, John Hickenlooper, beat the incumbent Republican, Cory Gardner, and in Alabama the Democratic Senator Doug Jones has likely lost to his challenger, Tommy Tuberville. Meanwhile, several key states—Georgia, North Carolina, and Maine—all look likely to return incumbent Republicans to the Senate. There is a long way to go, but it has got harder to map out a path to a Democratic majority.
The likeliest path to a Biden victory has always run through the Midwestern bloc of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, the so-called Blue Wall that Hillary Clinton lost in 2016. One of the strongest arguments for Biden’s nomination was that he was seen as well positioned to win back those states. The complexity of voting (and vote-counting) across the upper Midwest means that we may not know the outcomes in those states for days, but the early results in other Northern and Midwestern states have offered some reassurance to Democrats still hopeful that Biden can pull off a decisive win.
Re: 2020 US election results discussion
Dilbu should be only for Indian elections imo.
It all boils down to the blue wall that was breached again - Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

If the Hilal-e-Pakistan winner wins, along with Myalapore Maami, then it will be bad for India. So Dilbu is needed.V_Raman wrote:Dilbu should be only for Indian elections imo.
