Inflations impact on election outcome is complex and its not going to be same in future
- the 20-30 year old voting now doesnt know what the prices were 10 years ago. For them Inflation may not be an issue.
- Most will only take inflation into considerations if its starts to hit core commodities with consistent increase with substantial overall increase
- Government has not shown apathy in dealing with this consistent increase in past 2-3 years.

Overall I think inflation is no longer a major driver unless Government (center or state) bungles something big and fail to act even in 1-2 years time.

Overall I think BJP need to micro segment the voter base and appeal to them differently. Thats what PK's expertise is. To cause 2-3% swing with micro segmentation. The opposition is doing that using caste and class politics where fear is an easy way to manipulate voters.

What makes you think that even then they will learn. They will simply convert and that will be the end of that.

The level of hate that they have for Hindu ways is unbelievable.

Perhaps a poll can be done by some reputed polling agency to locate out group favouritism of different demographic groups.

You might just find that the Indian Muslim's have the lowest amount of out group favouritism.

You will find that fake Hindu liberals have the highest out group favouritism.

Looks like Sadhguru is going to have some trouble heading his organization's way. The article posted in the previous page was a warning shot across the bow, ably delivered by The Hindu. Mention of CAG is to ground it in some legal framework so it does not appear that the DMK is going after a Hindu org, and using N Ram's services gives it an intellectual sheen. Using PTR to come out strongly against him is another - he and his family is well known for their deep devotion and their work for the Madurai Meenakshi temple over decades. So his saying these things provide covering fire for the DMK to go after Sadhguru. Also, the latter is not well regarded by the masses for various reasons, so there won't be much ground support for him if the DMK decides to act. I hope Isha Foundation is prepared to deal with this. The 4 BJP MLAs have their task cut out. Vanathi represents Coimbatore south, which is not far from Sadhguru's ashram in the foothills.

Of course, this cannot be justified given the free pass to people like DGS Paul Dinakaran, but the narrative is what matters at the end of the day. While his engineering college is also reportedly in violation of rules (see this NewsMinute article), no media ever takes up reporting about EJ activities, so no one knows about their shenanigans. The little that gets reported is whitewashed as Modi being vindictive by sending CBI/ED/<fill in central agency of choice>.

Not really, this is the first time an official govt position has been stated. The earlier episode was mostly between some environmentalists and the courts. I think the DMK is laying ground for the future - Jaggi by lending his voice to the free temple movement seems to have pushed some buttons. I am quite surprised TBH, since there is actually not much ground support to freeing temples - maybe there is, and I am missing it.

Hindus have voted for DMK (an outright anti-Hindu party), so it is only natural that Hindu leaders will be targeted and culled. The herd has stampeded, leaving leaders alone to fend for themselves from a pack of hyenas

My only question is how do you identify BIF? And for the BIF do we need to invent new laws like hang from their thumbs till they squeal on prime time? Of course some are visible BIF, like the Great Dumberg and her gadfly which was my namesake!** Or the rNDTV journos. In fact our own BRF member Vishnu Som got called out as aunty national on Twitter. He thought it was rude, till someone corrected him saying there is a difference between rude and truth.

I was totally scared. Thanks to Mudi and the team, the hang by thumbs till all crimes are squealed in front of doorknob law did not come to pass and I could come out of hiding. You see just because a namesake works for Great Dumberg who is actually busy building her resume and become the Anne Frank of ecology, I might be mistaken as a member of BIF rather than BRF.
...
How come there were so many terrorist attacks before 2014 but are no major attack outside Kashmir after NDA came to power...?
Merely passing laws was not enough... And govt. didn't nearly crackdown on some NGO or arrest some jounalist like Darkha Butt... The reason Govt. was successful is that Intelligence agencies under Doval did a terrific job to clamp down on the terrorist support network that was working behind the scenes...
-
BIF is a huge spectrum of ppl... It is not required to target ppl like Greta or some journalists or activists...
The real danger group of BIF are the ppl who organize protests and riots on a short notice... These are the ppl who work behind the scenes and also arrange money for these things...
Govt. failed in controlling this twice till now; first Anti-CAA protests and now Farmer protests...
Unlike some stupid articles in foreign media or one day dharnas, riots effect common ppl and also give a bad reputation to the Govt.... Govt. will be seen as weak for not being able to control these mobs...

If Govt. is not already working on a strategy, then they should definitely start planning one...

I simply wish somebody would pull these 3 idiots aside and tell them to go home and not to come back asking for work. India's movie going audiences have moved on :)

^^I knew something was wrong when overnight so called new BJP supporters surfaced and started sowing negativity all around. No valid and pointed criticism but memes, one liners, propaganda pieces etc etc. Now it turns out Congressis were trying to exploit this negativity and create doubts in people regarding Modi's intention. Time to stand even more resolutely behind Modi.

I have noticed another thing. People on social media suffer from attention deficit and forget things quickly. Especially Modi supporters on social media. The same celeb RW verified Twitter profiles who were swearing about how their eyes have been opened and they will stand behind modi no matter what after the Greta Toolkit, are now piling all blame and everything on Modi. This change in attitude within such a short time reflects the fickle minded nature of people on social media who jump from issues to issues without any long term thinking.

It's not fake news if we take into account certain factors. I do have a feeling that this is indeed the CCP's attack on the world and especially India. This attack i'm assuming is done with the help of many in the opposition. Now they are laying ground work to not evoke public suspicion on the CCP for the new variant that's been released. Already statements are made to Modiji by certain politicians within our country to ensure that the Singapore variant is prevented from coming to India. So you know what's coming next from the CCP. For more than 3-4 weeks this news of 3rd waves is there and said to infect children more than adults. First they targeted the elderly, Then adults and now children.

Response to terrorism has to be disproportionate so as to serve as a deterrent. If you keep responding only in "equal" measure, that'll only embolden the terrorists and their sympathizers

Israel's flattening of civilian apartments and killing of children in Gaza is a disproportionate and indefensible response to Hamas's firing of home-made rockets toward Israeli cities. Israel's intense bombardment will counterproductively strengthen grassroots support for Hamas.

Opposition designs not withstanding, I feel Modi Govt. made one basic error...
In a situation like this pandemic, where there is no predictability, no proper medicine, very high rate of spread and with new variants propping up, no Government can really be proactive... Governments can only be reactive and respond proportionately to the evolving situation...
IMO, Modi Govt. repeatedly talking about successfully handling the first wave back in January was a mistake... This repeatedly issued statement about 'defeating' Corona coupled with holding big rallies after 2nd wave picked up in 2nd week of April created a perception that Central Govt. was sleeping after 1st wave...
If anything Modi Govt. only lost the perception battle here... Had they not declared early victory, and instead kept the message grounded until Corona went down in the entire world, things would have been entirely different for them...
Ppl may point out to repeated warnings Centre gave to states about 2nd wave and the teams they sent to assess the situation... But then, common ppl will only see headlines on Newspapers... Very few ppl actually read the press releases on PIB website...
----
When we look back at how situation evolved from March to April end, we will see that Centre didn't really commit any mistake in actual handling of the 2nd wave crisis...
-
In entire March and 1st week of April, cases were high but very localized in 3-4 states... The actual election states didn't really have any cases barring Kerala... Ppl forget that Bihar elections were held when 1st wave was in full swing... After April 6th only Bengal had elections and cases in Bengal were not high either...

Same with Kumbh Mela... And it was immediately cancelled as soon as 2nd wave set in...
-
During 1st wave, one item which was in shortage is Ventilators... 2nd wave no state really complained about it... Reason is lot of Ventilators were bought under PM Cares fund and distributed to states...
-
2nd wave, the main shortage was Medical Oxygen... There were numerous meetings held with states and no state raised an alarm about Oxygen shortage until 2nd week of April... The main reason for shortage of Oxygen is the fact that virus spread at a very unusual rate in the 1st two weeks of April... No state govt. or health expert or anyone predicted this exponential rise... This is also coupled with the nature of the mutated variant created a huge demand... Even if those planned 162 plants were completed, they still wouldn't have met the increased demand...
Modi Govt. actually deserves a huge applause for arranging Medical oxygen to various states on such a short notice...
-
If you ask me, Vaccination is a separate issue that shouldn't be coupled with handling of 2nd wave... It is a mistake to combine these two issues... 2nd wave would have come even if all of us were vaccinated... The fact that media and opposition coupled both these issues is in itself agenda driven...
----
Govts. can only react to an unpredictable virus based on evolving situation and Modi Govt. reacted very well...
As I said, Modi Govt. only lost perception battle due to half-thought declaration of victory on Corona... That was their only mistake... And their bad luck was that the 2nd wave came during a crucial state election...

LakshmanPST'ji, let me tell you a story.

In a dense vast jungle, somewhere in interior of India, two elephants were walking down a path they created daintily with their elephant herd following them. There was a lead elephant and maybe six steps or half a dozen steps behind the lead was the other lead elephant. Their herd consisted of all sorts of elephants big and small. Down to some elephants who were wondering whether they were elephants at all or something else.

The lead elephants were walking like "Bom-Chika Bom-Chika", not the sound itself but the gait looked like it sounded "Bom-Chika Bom-Chika". That is, the elephants were moving according to *their* plan. And the herd was following them. Some of them again following the gait of the leaders and some were moving at jet speeds, charting their course in sub domains. You see the herd was vast and it spread several square kilometers and they would communicate across vast spaces with low hums that would travel through land but invisible to other creatures.

On their path there were termite mounds. And then here and there were small and large quicksands. A nature of quicksand is that if you are trapped in it, any further movement will only sink you to a point where other predators or forces of nature finish you off. It is your own movements which sinks you further.

The herd thought it will be led to the land of bananas and plenty of water. But the leader was taking them to the land of big trees with lot of bark to chew on, hills to dig and bountiful water. Digging the hills was the least concern of the herd and it was hard work. The reward was few chunks of clump dirt to lick on. However that digging was useful for other creatures in the jungle. Very useful.

On this herd chanced upon two creatures. This two creatures thought that the herd is crazy to follow the leaders daintily. Remember they were walking a walk that looked like it was making the sound "Bom-Chika Bom-Chika". Crazy indeed.

This two creatures would want the herd to break down the termite mounds. Tear apart the parasitic creepers growing up on majestic trees. Some of the trees looked like they were hounded with pretas. And some areas had a strange fungus taking over what seemed to be fertile land.

But the lead elephant did not care. Instead the lead elephant would dig up some earth and urge the herd to do the same. Eat Dirt.

The two creatures were flummoxed. They would scream, shout. They would go from place to place screaming and shouting of what the leader of the herd of elephants should do. Eating dirt. Eating barks. Grasses, small plants, twigs. Once in a while bananas. But never taking them to the land of milk and honey.

The two creatures meant well. They had strong mandibles, multiple legs and beautiful antenna that can sense the smallest of the change in the wind and more importantly they had an army that they can rally to their call.

Sometimes the lead elephant would listen to the army but more often than not it appeared that the herd would be trampling that same creatures! What an irony. And the termite mounds? The termites were the mortal enemies of this creatures. And the herd would not seem to care for this creatures which sometimes were torn limb by limb by the termites.

The irony of it all, this creatures helped the leader of the elephant herd to become the leader of the elephant herd.

Dear Lakshman'ji, I would presume by now you would have guessed who I am talking about.

Looking at references (India strain, Kumbh-superspreader vs Happy-gathering), there's a casual, out-of-touch, callous overconfidence to the toolkit.

It's a combination of monstrous incompetence and arrogance of entitlement.

Only one person and their coterie could have been suborned to do it.

and it is his woke ameriki university and BIF ecosystem pals who have conceived this approach to first demean India and en passant demean Modi, weakening the structure first before attempting a decapitating massed and internationally coordinated political strike at the helmsman.

how do they expect to topple a PM and a party that has an undeniably legitimate majority in both houses of parliament, it will possibly be done by destroying the economy and the mass appeal along with the damage to the huge positive rating of Modi

It is in the demeaning of India and wanton global projection of a situation that is so out of control, even to the extent that another "pillar of democracy" which has zilch expertise in public health issues and pandemic management and zero role in governance has stepped in willy nilly to safeguard the "people" that is clearly indicative of a much larger BIF process in play.

they have become serious about the regime change great game that has been in the pipeline for some years now and, as usual, the goras are using the tried and tested method of Indian jaichands to see them through.

there are people like scindia who are certainly privy to such congi shenanigans, so why not tap people of that ilk

Singapore Tells Kejriwal The Strain He's Fearmongering Over Is Same B.1.617.2 Now In India
https://www.republicworld.com/world-new ... india.html
The Singapore government has replied to Delhi CM Kejriwal raising alarm over a purported new strain in the foreign nation that allegedly is deadly for kids
There is no truth in the assertion that there is a new COVID strain in Singapore. Phylogenetic testing has shown that the B.1.617.2 variant is the prevalent strain in many of the COVID cases, including in children, in recent weeks in Singapore.https://t.co/uz0mNPNxlE https://t.co/Vyj7gyyzvJ
— Singapore in India (@SGinIndia) May 18, 2021
In view of the alarm spread by Kejriwal, the Central government was also forced to make two statements regarding the matter, none of which were action-oriented, however. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Puri said that India has no bio-bubble with Singapore and that only Vande Bharat flights ply the route, which are being monitored. And Dr V K Paul, member (Health), Niti Aayog, when asked about this Singapore threat, said, "We are examining it" without sharing more info.

If it's not the Singapore strain. May be it's time to question those who peddle the Third wave theory as to which strain they are talking about and how it's going to enter India and share that information that they have with the government. Central agencies must be on it to collect details from all those who wrote and spoke of the third wave strain.

The TN govt has moved against Isha foundation. This is exactly why no institution moves to support BJP because they will be left high and dry. Half of Karunanidhi children and grand children are in Bangalore. Does takes 5 mins to serve notice and break their homes using BBMP. But Modi and Amit Shah will never get it done.

God bless this country, your officers are living in ivory towers: Delhi HC
NEW DELHI: The Centre’s officers are living in “ivory towers” oblivious of ground realities that Covid-19 has not spared a single-family, Delhi High Court said on Tuesday, after getting to know that an Indian firm collaborating with Sputnik vaccine makers of Russia is being starved of funds by the Centre.
“Which bureaucrat is giving you instructions? Is he not alive to the situation? God bless this country. That is why we are facing this situation. In such matters instructions are need to be taken from the highest authorities, that, too, within 30 minutes,” the court said, highlighting that such partnership attempts with foreign vaccine manufacturers are an opportunity to the nation facing shortage of vaccines.
“Tell your officers it is an opportunity for you, don’t lose it. The virus has not spared any single family. Your officers are living in ivory towers,” a bench of justices Manmohan and Navin Chawla remarked.
“Does your officer not see so many deaths are taking place in the country and we are short of vaccines? You are so short of vaccines and you are not taking it through. Maybe it is an opportunity for you. Don’t be so negative. It is like a raging fire and nobody is bothered. You people don’t understand the larger picture or what,” the court fumed.
“No one is applying its mind” when there is an opportunity for the government to get millions of vaccines, the bench said. “Otherwise, deaths will continue to happen. Every day you are castigated by each and every court and still you are not awake.”

The high court was hearing a plea of Delhi-based Panacea Biotec seeking release of money as per a July 2020 arbitral award saying it needed funds at the earliest in the larger interest of humanity as it has already manufactured trial batches of Sputnik V in collaboration with RDIF and the process of manufacturing scale-up batches is on.
“The collaboration of applicant with RDIF gives India an opportunity to ensure that the vaccine manufactured by the applicant is used for sale in India,” the court noted while asking the Centre to file a reply in a week.
According to the plea, “If the awarded amount is not released… the whole process of manufacture of vaccine at the fastest pace may get derailed and delayed, which will not be in the larger interest of humanity.”
The Centre opposed the plea, arguing that the manufacturing won’t benefit the country as it would be for global supply by RDIF and its Indian partner. The government claimed the vaccines were to be sold outside India. In response, the company pointed out that no manufactured vaccine could be exported without the government’s consent and these vaccines were meant for Indian use.
The bench said the company was willing to deposit 20% of the sale proceeds in the court, so it should be taken as an opportunity to get more vaccines.
Panacea Biotec argued that Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech were also exporting Covid-19 vaccines to various countries. “Unless timely steps for manufacture of Covid-19 vaccine are taken, the death toll can go up to astronomical figures,” it said while maintaining that 100 million doses per year of Sputnik V would be manufactured for the global market.

Sambit Patra going on the offensive on TV as well. Finally, some initiative by the BJP to counter the narrative.
