Even that prized idiot govind rajan has shut up about the Indian economy, as has gita gopinath. Most of these doom gloom commie cassandras have been proven unworthy of their hyped up qualifications

Seetharaman has done well for herself, managing her way commendably through the landmines and quicksand. Inflation, yes, but who doesn't have it.

It will be managed as usual and sorted out. There are much more pressing worries on Modi's plate right now. we just need to wait patiently.

Modi wants to come back, even more than what many guys here think. His work is not done yet. He is a seasoned politician and knows the pitfalls well. He has always said that four years of hard work and one year of politics, which includes giveaways and subsidies.

I shop as does the wife.

The prices are not reflective of what you see, unless you are shopping in some super duper posh area.

I remember a long time ago in bombay, when vegetable prices in the colaba market and in the dadar market were in the ratio of 5-6:1. It is more now, I am told

yesterday, tomatoes were 30/kg, onions 40/kg, a crate of eggs 150/30 eggs, fresh button mushrooms 40/box, oyster mushrooms 65-70/box. many veggie shops are accepting credit cards, apart from paytm. For us, prices for the same items vary from one end of the road to the other with differentials sometimes touching 20Rs/kg for the same produce

chicken differentials vary from Rs 30-45, meat from 50-60 between fancy shops and local butchers. there are two non halal/jatka meat suppliers doing fairly good business

some other veggies are at their seasonal highs

there is no qualitative difference between brown and white eggs. wokes do not believe this and talk schitt about free range and organic. It is a load of BS.

White and brown eggs are the most common in India, often with the same poultry farm producing both colors and feeding all their layers with the same identical diet/feed.

the shell comes in various colors and is dependant on the color of the feathers, more accurately, they are dependant on the color of the earlobe of the hen that produces it.

Image

Image Which Chicken Breeds Lay Colored Eggs

color of the yoke can vary from pale yellow to bright yellow to saffron depending on the diet of the hen

the color of the eggshell doesn't make jack of a difference except to one's purse, no matter what anyone says.

double-yolked eggs are available, usually called super eggs in bombay.

My double yolked egg seller has passed on to his 72, so am looking out for another.

One may finally land up in the anda market in shivajinagar

look at current sale prices in bigbazzar, more, reliance, spar etc.

best to buy from there in quantity and at much lesser cost if prices at local kaka shops are hurting anyone.

Aside from pandemic related spending, NPL has also been managed ( sins from the past ) . Here is some data that is not captured in simple economic performance indicators like gdp etc.

https://www.ceicdata.com/en/indicator/i ... oans-ratio

http://www.statista.com/statistics/6572 ... f%20people

Almost 500 million people have some sort of insurance...some states have a person insured in 70% of households.

As much as I want more of everything ...sometimes it is hard to see the amount of progress

Bengal - Land of Hindu renaissance, revolutionaries, economic power house to the present state.

A learned panel of Shri Tathagata Roy, Dr Mohit Ray and Gargi Nandi talk about Bengal in a passionate and frank discussion with Ratan Sharada

Bengal is one of the oldest region of Bharat, since the time of Mahabharata. It was the port of transit for famed Silk Route.

Bengal is also fountainhead of Hindu renaissance beginning from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, to Swami Vivekananda and Brahmo Samaj. It a land of revolutionaries and was once the commercial hub of Bharat.

Over years, Bengal has lost its charm and has gone down in all the dimensions of socio-economic development. It is now commercially down the ladder, it has become a land of conflict.

What is the way out? To conclude Tathagata Roy ji says, assertive Hindus is the only answer. One must learn from history.

Ambar ji, Modinomics before pandemic hit was just about right. However, since then prices of even fruits vegetables pulses edible oils etc. did escalate long before petroleum prices went up.

Thankfully, the food inflation seems to be coming under control and I give it to you some sort of rationality and realism needs to be brought in petroleum prices.

However, it seems govt has been caught in its own created web and is unable to come out of it. Time will tell how much impact there will be in elections, but it looks like a extreme balancing act.

My personal belief is don't give a penny as subsidy, but don't over tax and unnecessarily burden the people. However, since we are import dependent country, people at large should be aware of the wasteful and lavish use of this resource will ultimately hurt the economy.

I just started reading his book ' The Grey Lady Winked". It is incredible how an organization run by Jews ultimately was so lenient on Hitler and his pogroms against their own people. The art of deception was well developed and honed to perfection by these people who in turn taught them to our own Brown Sepoys of NDTV and such.

The NYT has a remarkable history of supporting slavery, the owner family were slavers, supporting hitler, supporting Stalin, concealing the holomodor.

It also takes money from the CCP and slants the news very obviously to the Chinese narrative.

There is nothing credible in it except for the barely literate Indian.

I'm in India right now, have been meeting some friends and extended family, represents a reasonable cross section of people living in India & some NRIs, various age groups and economic strata. I'm trying to assess what this cross section (may not be perfect sampling but good enough to get a reliable general sense) expected from Modi 2.0, what they see delivered, and what their voting criteria would be for 2024. Will share what I gather from these conversations in a few weeks.

Would very much like to see your impressions.

Sure, the relative weights of vikas, natsec / nationalism, & cultural stuff are bound to change over time. I am interested in what the markers are that indicate an increased weightage to culture, for example.

Absolutely shocking news. Apparently foreigners will no longer be able to ferment disorder in India!

NRI Darshan Singh Dhaliwal refused entry for ‘backing’ farmers' protest

https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/punja ... est-329181

"“I was not allowed to land in India as I have been supporting the farmers’ agitation. I am running a langar at Singhu since January and I visit them every three months. On Saturday, when I landed at the airport, I was denied entry despite having valid documents. They did not give any reason,” Dhaliwal said. “They kept me waiting for five hours and put me in a 1.30 am flight back to Chicago,” he claimed."

NRI turned back from Delhi airport: Badal seeks PM intervention, SGPC slams govt

Requesting the PM to personally invite Dhaliwal as a “goodwill gesture which will send a great positive signal to NRIs”, Badal also sought “stern action against the erring officials who brought a bad name to the country with their action”.

^ Good move to disallow Dhaliwal and no doubt many other NRIs. Can this be done to actual Indian citizens/residents participating in anti-Hindu/anti-India activities abroad? Like those who attended the dismantling global Hindutva conference? I think Cyrano said that there is no basis legally or morally, to do this. Is the government simply too concerned about the global fall out in the media? I can't believe that all the Sikhs who rioted in Canada, the US, UK and elsewhere, following the anti-terror assault on the Golden temple in June 1984, were citizens of those countries. Some of them would be Indian passport holders, and it is very unlikely that they would have been allowed back into India anytime soon.

Did I ? :)

An NRI is still an Indian, carries an Indian passport, if his Indian citizenship was obtained by birth, the govt has no choice but to let its own citizen enter the country. Of GoI they can treat him as they would any other Indian citizen, with "samman" or "danda" as per law. They can even revoke his passport and prevent him from leaving India again which would hurt them even more

An OCI/PIO holder is NOT an Indian citizen, and the OCI/PIO status is a "privilege" granted by the GoI, which can be suspended or revoked. Many people use "NRI" like a catch-all, but thats simply erroneous.

Other reports say this Dhaliwal fellow is Indian-American, so I suppose he carries an American passport and OCI/PIO. So GoI turning him back is totally legit.

Good move by GoI - don't change houses and come back to cr@p on your old house lawn and expect no reaction.

OCI is not an automatic birthright of any Indian who happens to be a citizen of another country and also fulfils all the conditions required.

The Govt decides who comes into India.

The only alternative is to apply for a regular visa, which is also sure to be rejected.

Even if one has a valid visa, the GoI can still stop one's entry into India, and no explanations need be given to anyone.

earlier, many khalistanis from kaneda were banned from entering India. This very govt removed that ban.

Time to reimpose it again and much more stringently this time.

screw the votes, numbers are anyway not enough to matter

next on the agenda are the numerous multiple entry long term SAARC visas given to many paki "journos". If any are still current and valid, cancel them all and change to a case by case single entry, single city validity, entry and exit by air only visa for such creeps

Revoke all of them in one go.

Looks like Modi is steadily chipping away from the ills dominating the babudom. Now I hope there will be no passing the file business by the babus.
Big governance reform: From next month, no file to pass more than 4 hands
A total of 58 ministries and departments have reviewed the “channel of submission” of files to bring it to four levels and the rest of the ministries are fast progressing in that direction and are expected to do so by next month.

It has taken six years for the Narendra Modi government to push this major reform through the bureaucracy, but finally, from next month, no central government file will pass more than four hands before a decision and ministries will also be able to submit e-files to each other.

The idea is to speed up decision-making and usher in an executive-centric and business-oriented functional transformation of government offices by flattening the organisation and going for delegation rather than pushing files up to higher levels needlessly, a senior government official told News18.

A total of 58 ministries and departments have reviewed the “channel of submission” of files to bring it to four levels and the rest of the ministries are fast progressing in that direction and are expected to do so by next month, a senior government official said.

Previously, government files would pass 6-7 levels or even 10-12, before the Modi government started a drive in 2015 to reduce the channel of submission levels to bring pace to policy decisions. Over 300 meetings at senior levels were held for about six years to achieve this.

Taking the e-route
Further, the government has rolled out the E-Office 7.0 version this month, which for the first time allows the inter-ministry transfer of files — so all ministries can now submit their proposals online, for example, to the finance ministry, for approval. So far, ministries had an E-Office facility for intra-ministry work. All 84 ministries and departments are expected to transition to the E-Office 7.0 version in November. Over 32,000 e-files are now being created daily and India has about 25 lakh e-files at present.

What this means
A senior government official said that now, the four levels identified for the channel of submission are secretary, additional secretary or joint secretary, director or deputy secretary or undersecretary, and all other levels. The idea is that no officer in one category needs to submit files to another officer in the same category. All ministries are now adopting this methodology with suitable modifications to eliminate the need for file submission between joint secretaries and additional secretaries, and between director, deputy secretary and undersecretary.

This involves delegation of powers at appropriate levels. It is also proposed that absolutely routine matters be disposed of at just one level. An official said the exercise began in 2015 and it has taken this long for all ministries to be brought on board. “The tendency has always been in bureaucracy to push the file upwards to get more people on board. This delays decision-making,” an officer said.

Isn't Dhaliwal the same guy who was on video going on a rant against India and Hindus in Toronto ? I think it was him and another guy from Canada who were the brains and moneybags behind roping in Rihaana and Mia Khalifa to tweet against India. Dher aaye durust aaye (better late than never), this decision should have been taken 3 yrs ago when the same people were behind the anti-CAA protests in many cities across the world.

Even for Indian passport holders there are many levers the govt can use. Just do what pakis do and put names of these folks and their family members (most of their kids live abroad anyways) on the exit control list. They'll come around when they cannot go on their quarterly kabaab and shabaab jirgas in London or Dubai or Toronto.

You cannot defeat Babudom. The beauraucrats can stall movement of any file/project by quoting a section or sub section of a rule and law applying to that project or department.

Thing to do is to drastically do away the number of rules/laws(especially procedural) that can be used to stall a project.

Babudom will try their best.
but once files are electronic, the TAT (TurnAround Time) will start getting tracked and accumulated. The slow movers will get outed.
eventually this will be linked to performance appraisals and promotions.

GOI's orchestration and timing is perfect. Oct 31 is the day when vote for khali stan is scheduled in uk stan, kaneda etc. This is a subtle message to the wanna be khali stan citizens

this tanvi is turning out to be a bigger @h0le than one thought she was

preachy, pontificating, entitled ameriki woke aurat, a practiced brown coolie, and an accomplished coconut, talking down to illiterate desis and she has no skin in the game.

For an alleged think tanki, she has absolutely no clue at all about the basic pakistani psyche, and the day she understands the true import of this bigotry

“Hindoon k beech mein kharay ho kar namaz parhi, that was very special.”

is the day she will start to understand what she is dealing with and what the Hindus have been dealing with for well over a 1000 years now

Please ask the Indian government's Saudi, Emirati, Qatari, Bangladeshi, Maldivian, Indonesian etc partners how they would feel about an Indian foreign policy focused on "countering Islam"...
via@tanvi_madan

It’s not Pakistanis who need to learn here.

It’s stupid Indians like you who need to understand that countering Pakistan means countering Islam.

Otherwise we will just keep losing young Indians at the border and keep harping on bullshit like ‘aman ki asha’.

Ambar Saar,
I don't think they are the same person. The guys who had brought in Rihanna, Mia Khalifa was one reportedly called Mo Dhaliwal. The one stopped in the airport was called Darshan Singh Dhaliwal who has confessed to running Langer in the Singhu border.
I don't think Mo dhaliwal would show up in person in India after spewing so much bile. He is of the same ilk as our pseudos, shoot and scoot and do what is the easy - mostly cheap talk. I don't think they would have conviction to face the long arm of the law even for the things they believe in.

this could just be a temporary signal or really permanent strong intent remains to be seen from the govt side.

^^ This is why "Mo" needs to be done. Canceling OCIs and long-term visas was an excellent first step. For the Khalistanis who decide they can do without visiting India in person, other measures are necessary. Almost all of them have liquid wealth, investments, land, and other assets within the Indian Union (this is especially true for people whose family wealth derives from agriculture). Their access to any such assets located within India, or Indian banks, or Indian branches of foreign banks must be immediately cut off.

This explains a lot, the British deep state is behind a lot of this, the Sikhs will face wrath of their Governments unless they behave the way these Governments want them to behave. After all many would still be required relatives etc to become naturalized citizens, have businesses to run etc. And these Governments have also shown they can remove citizenship, powerful tools. Basically outwardly soft but in reality deliberately trying to keep any fault line alive . Similarly Gungadins in India in exchange for family citizenship and money behave the same way.

For OCI/PIO card-holders, GOI can even pass a new law like "enemy property act" or even expand the scope of this act. If they conspire against the state, their properties in India can be confiscated.

Look 99% of these holders are good people and are very helpful and as good as any Indian, it is just a small proportion who get used against India.

Of course. The law will only punish the enemies of the state. Most OCI holders, who love their motherland, wouldn't have to worry

certainly looks more India friendly than the previous incumbent

trudeau has learned the hard way that the khalistanis are not on his side but the suspicions about trudeau will always remain

Modi helped out trudeau during the vaccine issue and that bitter lesson proved to trudeau that kaneda is not in the same league as India and will never ever be

BTW, Anand. was the one who smoothly negotiated with India, that vax deal for trudeau and yes, trudeau paid a political price for it

Aha. Thats the point. Now only four people are accountable. You know who exactly is performing or going against the policies.

One way to stop this is to have an SLA (Service Level Agreement) on file clearance, i.e. 95% of all files will be cleared in X number of days. Not more than 10% of files can go to the next level etc. If you want to take it up a notch, you can even survey the public if their grievance was resolved satisfactorily in a timely manner (via say the NaMo app or some other mechanism).

Digitization will help measure this metric and also detect which ministry or which babu are the laggards. Performance reviews of babus can incorporate this metric as one of the criteria.

They can still workaround the system (say by artificially creating & disposing dummy files to improve your rating), but their window for such activities will be a small one. Overall, the system's performance will improve significantly
