Also, dilute Contempt of Court Act. Such Draconian provision doesn't exist in any country. Judges are preventing any criticism or analysis of their work and behavior by threatening jail for contempt. They are unelected and unaccountable, and cannot be scrutinized or criticized!! This is textbook definition of dictatorship.

This is getting interesting. Exactly what cards do these unelected judges that are not backed by a public mandate think they hold here? Clearly, they think they can threaten the legislature and executive, both of which are backed by a public mandate. What hidden card do they think they possess that they can carry this off and subjugate the public mandate?
None. Zero. Which is why I think the Govt must up the ante here.
Perhaps , setting up a parallel judicial structure for certain domains - to show them who the boss is and to show them they can be cut down to size.
And Id wait until after the elections.

Ad-hoc ism even last week. Read the judgements on the Delhi riots case. The same laws - but different yardsticks based on community

The SC has issued notice to the Center to respond to PIL by Bhushan, N. Ram etc on why BBC documentary was banned

This especially after Law Minister said this PIL is a waste of SC's time (he was being nice to SC by calling out the petitioners and not the SC itself). But the SC, by entertaining it and asking the Center to respond, is firing a shot across the Center's bow. Of course, the SC is not one monolithic entity and each judge has his/her own leanings. But most of them lean left, without civilizational roots. They are begging for a fight and I hope the Center gives them one.

But this being the election year, will the Govt do so - that remains the question?

Truth., evidence contrary to their narratives are out there. Pretty damning to their little political careers. That nice trick blowing up a fellow NATO members oil pipeline is enough to short-circuit the careers of involved politicians especially those still playing along with those involved

Hindenburg references mahua moitra in their report.

She falsely claims about SBI being exposed to 27% of AE loans when the reality is 0.7% . She deleted that tweet.

Mental Banshee's total silence on this matter after some initial nominal finger-wagging at MM

Hindenburg report had confidential information revealed only to the parliament, so a leaking politician is at the center of this. Treacherous low-cunning politician (that's most of the opposition) but with an unwillingness to openly antagonize Adani while using him to screw the ruling party, which leaves INC,TMC, and possibly AAP.

AAP is too busy putting out their burning underwear set alight by the ED. INC's "intellectual" crowd that could coordinate such things either left INC or were too busy combing the lice off rahul's hairy facial growth.

This leaves Mental Banshee as the primary candidate as the insider that collaborated with foreign entities. Fits her mode of operation, and her terrible politics.

Mahua moitra is key

A lot of low life CONgis sending messages that LIC is going bankrupt, SBI going bankrupt.

I think Mahua is behind this. She worked at Morgan Stanley

That's why need to have a dirty IB which collects dirt on these kind of garbage/filth and blackmail them

drnayar ji,

it was a rhetorical question, but no matter.

however, if "advanced" societies like the amerikis, eu, and uk have all not given a furry rat's for FOE and the idea of "free speech" when they all banned russki channels, then why is a "primitive" society like ours so enamoured by the rights of an entity like the bbc that has always been inimical, not only to the interests of India, but also towards the very idea of India itself.

Sadly, colonial legacy continues to live rent free in many empty heads in our society and colonial slavery is still the norm to display an allegedly advanced intellect.

^ mahua might be a minor jaichand/influencer type. I doubt she has intellectual/financial power or capacity to carry this out... This was an extremely sophisticated operation that needed an army of quants (those are usually desi origin) , lawyers and people with deep knowledge of financial systems...

Yes, MM is clueless in her own domain, aswas obvious from her idiotic tweets. I was referring to the point that confidential information only available to the parliament was leaked to.hindenburg, and likely candidates for sabotaging the ship of state so that it leaked from the top.

^^ I don’t get the article. Is it trying to say that China should forgive the loans and it’s strategic interests in these countries? Why would any sane nation do that?

If khan can drop 100s of billions of dollars in Ukraine they can offer the same to the rest of the world.

haircuts and compromise is what is needed

but the hans simply do not play that game and thus queer the pitch by making it quite difficult for international institutions to provide assistance.

qatar, saudi and UAE are keen to collateralize their thus far unsecured paki loans. They have already identified the paki assets they are interested in

the cheeni will move in when they feel that the time is right and negotiate to take full control by long term lease over valuable paki assets, just like they did with hambantotha port in SL

for the simple reason its wealth was originally made out of the low wages of its low-income class citizens [ and western greed] ; Khan's wealth is pure loot from the centuries of colonialism by its predecessor Britain as well as siphoning natural wealth, oil, minerals etc at throwaway prices from its victims [also having the worlds currency printing press] , so they can literally throw or forgive money in billions. different for China.

The SC is begging for a fight. The GOI, if it wants to, can give it a bloody nose. This needs to go beyond mere speeches from the President, VP and Law Minister

The SC will be aligned with the BIF to see if they can prevent a runaway victory for Modi in 2024. Its time to fire a warning shot, so that they don't try any hanky-panky. But I suspect, based on the kid-glove handling so far, that Modi & Co will focus on only the assembly elections this year and 2024 LS elections. They will make speeches but brush-off the brickbats thrown at them by Chandrachud & Co.

Inshallah, if 2024 gives BJP another mandate, they will cut the SC down to size. This is precisely what the SC fears - and hence they are most desperate & dangerous now.

tharoor like congi ass kissers abound in this country

And, to see a woke Indian write an eulogy for him without mentioning Kargil ..... is an anathema

@ShashiTharoor

“Pervez Musharraf, Former Pakistani President, Dies of Rare Disease”: once an implacable foe of India, he became a real force for peace 2002-2007. I met him annually in those days at the @un & found him smart, engaging & clear in his strategic thinking.

RIP

but the clown very conveniently forgets that:
Just that the smart, engaging, strategic intellectual had led a 'peaceful' war against India in Kargil, had overturned a government through military coup, had suspended the Constitution, had implemented dictatorship & was an accused in the assassination of their former PM

Above needs to be in Bold, to highlight the chicanery of the US-SD. And they were putting those chicanery in India via rNDTV. Though the part of of US-SD segments going rogue is a cop out. US has a plan. US-SD is the "bad cop" routine.

Remember the chronology:

1. rNDTV is the arm of the US-SD
2. rNDTV is pushing the US-SD narrative since Kargil War.
3. 2019 Modi wins. 2020-22, India wins against Covid
4. 2022/23, Adani takes over rNDTV. Nidhi will join Stanford and Ravish will join Oxford.
5. India announces mega-port in Andaman
6. LuLand visits Nepal, India. Hillary Clinton visits Gujarat.
7. Hindenburg report to sink Adani.

Instead, they will wait for some brickbat from the clown-prince and throw in a line about the MOU and demand an apology. Too afraid to file cases & too timid to go on a media-offensive too

A destructive Magnitude 7.8 earthquake just struck southern Turkey near Gaziantep that has caused extensive damage with Reports of multiple people trapped in collapsed buildings

Tsunami hits Turkey-Syria coastline.
A powerful earthquake has hit a wide area in south-eastern Turkey, near the Syrian border, killing more than 300 people and trapping many others.

The US Geological Survey said the 7.8 magnitude tremor struck at 04:17 local time (01:17 GMT) at a depth of 17.9km (11 miles) near the city of Gaziantep.

In Turkey, officials confirmed more than 76 deaths so far and 10 cities hit, including Diyarbakir.

The Syrian health ministry said people had died in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama and Tartus.
