Was this compromise worth it

Home Ministry relaxes FCRA rules, gives concessions to public servants

Vizhinjam sea port protests called off; Kerala CM says construction of flats for fisherfolk soon

I suspect it is not the Fishermen flats but the FCRA rules relaxation which led to the calling off protests

The protests were DoA as of last Saturday’s (26/11)police station attack. Anyone watching this closely can see the frocks literally jumped shark with that dick move

We are giving mythical status to the Latin frocks who were leading the Vizhinjam fracas. I got a birds eye view of the whole thing - they are absolute nightgown wearing clowns who when they are not fighting each other, has dug a hole, crawled in on their tummy and planted a cross on their cracks.

Of course it helps to cobble together an alliance of ALL yindoo castes and some RoPs as well as BJP and CPI-M coming together. Both are firsts since 1950s. Frocks tried to depict this as some David vs Goliath fight etc against Adani. But Adani was quietly asked to file contempt of court while the local politicians and caste groups methodically eroded the sand under the frocks via media and social media.

There is no quid pro quo for frocks anywhere - not even withdrawal of criminal cases against the frocks was approved, despite senior frocks pleading. Right now, their bishop is on a no-fly list thanks to violation of an affidavit they gave in court (double-contempt of court situation)

Forget central govt budging on FCRA, even the usually coddling state govt said screw you to frocks.

Glad to hear, hnair.

Damage by frocks = 4 months delay, worth 100 Cr. It will be nice if police station damages + medical expenses for injured policmen + 100 Cr is retrieved from the church :-) That money can be transferred to PMAY & used to build houses for the fishermen

Received on whatsapp. Newspaper is a marathi daily.

More suited for the economics thread i know, but it does have political impact

1.88 crore 'farmers' removed from the Rs 6000/- PM Kisan scheme

For non-devanagri readers - the article gives the state-wide numbers of non-eligible persons who claimed to be 'farmers' eligible for getting the Rs 6000/-. The verification activity used Aadhaar, IT, NPCI etc databases

Karnataka is a stark outlier

Kindly translate what it is mentioning about Kerala. The state shouldn't have this many farmers considering the amount of land available and the current state of agriculture.

Kerala :

no. of beneficiaries pre-Aadhaar linked payment filter = 34,61,911.

no. of beneficiaries post-Aadhaar linked payment filter = 20,02,105.

Difference = reduction by 14,59,806

Edit - the 4 stage filter is mentioned as

1) Land records matched with Aadhaar
2) Identity verified with UIDAI database
3) Beneficiary Bank account details verified (and matched with Aadhaar)
4) NPCI credits the amount directly to the bank account after the above 3 checks are completed.

PS (apologies for the breaks in posting - at work)

Some 'beneficiaries' identified and found to be ineligible

1) Persons working on constitutional posts
2) Politicians, Corporators, MLAs  - Current and retired
3) Central and State Government employees - Current and retired
4) All retired civil employees whose current pension is greater than Rs 10,000 per month

^ Please note this was received on the housing colony whatsapp. It is a marathi newspaper clipping, as yet unidentified.

So standard disclaimer applies

The residential society where i stay is mostly middle class seniors who are retired from various government organizations and politically very aware and passionate... (almost all with children working abroad with no plans to return). They had still not really recovered from the BJP-SS split and then were hit with the SS split :)

Edit - The newspaper seems to be the Divya Marathi Bhaskar

Found a article from 3 days ago which mentions that around 12,000 beneficiaries from Jalgaon (a district in maharashtra) were found to be without their land records uploaded on the PM Kisan portal and the 12th installment payout to them is being withheld till done and verified.

Link here

So there may be many genuine farmers (typically the smallest) out there who are losing out due to not having registered their details.

Vice President of India@VPSecretariat· 23h

The historic NJAC Bill, passed unanimously by the Parliament, was undone by the Supreme Court using the judicially evolved doctrine of 'Basic Structure' of Constitution.
There is no parallel to such a development in democratic history of the world. #RajyaSabha #WinterSession

@VPSecretariat · 23h

A glaring instance of severe compromise of parliamentary sovereignty and disregard of the mandate of the people.
We need to bear in mind that in a democracy, Basic of any 'Basic Structure' is the primacy of the mandate of the people reflected in the Parliament. #RajyaSabha

@VPSecretariat · Dec 7

Relationship between constitutional institutions should be synergetic, based on mutual trust and respect.
Everyone should respect the Laxman Rekha.

Dilbu-llah, the left guys have fine tuned finessing Central funds into a fine art. So this is very much possible. Relabel and sell central govt projects to voters is the name of the game. The state BJP geniuses lead by the Great Suru just bleats about issues no voter cares about, like nepotism etc. While the left goes to town with “we implemented XYZ” without telling anyone that XYZ was a 100% central govt project. BJP should have been challenging this narrative but they don’t.

Regrading Vizhinjam, 60 Taurus trucks came in today with the rocks for breakwater. Breakwater currently is at 1600m long below surface and 1200m above water as can be seen from google earth). The berth piling foundation has been completed a while back, which will form foundation of the huge fully automated cranes. Once the length of breakwater hits 2000m mark, wave action against reclaimed land will stop and things will speed up in parallel.

If things go right, the first ship will come by Sep2023. Folks are not realising it but the project is as huge as any cheeni land reclamation in SCS. Also auxiliary mega-projects like a central govt backed 80km 6-lane ring road around city with provisions for SEZs, starting from port and ending to north of city, as well as a fully underground rail link with a 9km tunnel etc are there for next 5 to 10 years. Gadkari-sir has been kind in many ways, but commies will steal all credit thanks to local BJP morons

Old pic:

Image

The concrete lattice to the left is the berth piling frame. The land reclamation will extend till that edge. Zoom in to see size of vessels and vehicles. And this is the first phase. Also not visible is the current breakwater length

The SC doesn't seem to advance any argument to defend its position, they are simply repeating the "law of the land" and expecting the challenge will go away. The Louis XVI analogy seems apt. What will they do if the NJAC or something very similar comes back after being once again passed by the parliament? Losing to the will of the people as manifest by the parliament AND losing in the court of public opinion will erode its position irrecoverably. But thats where they seem to be heading. May be they are counting on something to ring the bell before KO. But what?

All in good time, Cyrano ji.

The termite ridden tree is coming down. Why allow another tree to replace it.

No tree of any sort was envisaged by the framers of the constitution, so no gardeners or even the gardening committee was required either but one was dubiously smuggled in anyway and planted.

was there any tree earlier...so why would they allow a strange species of alien tree called basic structure to grow once again....

It is the bans and bansuri story all over again... न रहेगा बाँस न बजेगी बाँसुरी...

The lakshman rekha was always very clearly visible but there is none so blind as he who will not see and the BIF was always pulling the strings from the shadows

Political power was for long limited to the imported descendants of a few parivars, license raj did the same for industry folks so others also horned in to partake of the fruits of democracy onlee

Once power is acquired, then patronage, privilege and all other associated accoutrements simply follow

Swain was recently targeting Babones via Sydney University. Swain should remain in twitter as a personification of the vile RoP-genocide apologist he is. Probably he is supported by scandie intel guys to screw around, since their point man Prabhakaran got his head canoed.

Any law declared by Supreme Court is "binding" on all, collegium system must be followed: SC
12:10 PM · Dec 8, 2022
"Any law declared" ? :D

Its now a full blown war. Kiren Rijju opened the front. SC took the bait and wanted in on ECI . President of India stepped in on the sides and gave a very diplomatic admonishment on judicial costs and efficiency. VP declaring that only the legislative has the legitimacy to frame laws deriving its mandate directly from the people and bringing back the old topic on how SC rejected an act passed by parliament.
VP isolated judiciary of India - made it very clear they are the only institution in democratic world that doesnt acknowledge the primacy of legislative.,
SC feeling the pressure and coming across as petulant and reacting in haste . I mean, asking for a chair on the ECI - a shotgun reaction ...almost like threatening the govt without giving a thought on how they'd get there. Such empty threats are easily seen through.

SC as an institution is , over the decades, has been breeding and in-breeding incompetency . They arent backing down - a foreign born spouse with questionable background as one the names proposed ....they didnt back down even that . Shows they are out to prove their supremacy/independence rather than working with the government .
Gogoi seems to have come to nought...I was hoping he would create a breakaway faction . So far , no cracks within the judicial hierarchy.
Its scary where it is heading. We are close to brinkmanship turning into something more nasty...all the while when everyone else is watching the show.

The fact that Namo is dealing with them now shows he could be planning for something and judiciary is standing the way.

This is easy to promise but difficult to implement, in HP 10% of the population is made up of retired State Govt staff, along g with families 20% of population, considering overall voting % , and Congress getting 43% of the 65% of those who voted. These are a majority of the votes, like other states this cannot be implemented. The INC has made a chitya( deliberate misspelling) of thier voters to get a lifeline. Demographics means this will not work in future. Sometimes one has to loose some battles to win a war.

There is growing infighting within the BJP in many states.

No one else but the BJP could have won in GUJ, especially after the Modi and shah electoral onslaught.

These local BJP guys are becoming resentful that they are being denied the loaves and fishes of office, forgetting that they are winning only because of the charisma of Modi and Shah.

This "feeling" is starkly visible in MAH and KAR and some states in the north, most recently in dilli.

Many of these jokers come with a readymade and extractive ecosystem that has helped to fund them and provide the "facilities" needed to sway the voters

It was Modi who got the job done in GUJ and not any of the local leaders

In GUJ, with their win of those few seats, khujliwal has done exactly what he actually set out to do, the aap has gained national party status in 10 years onlee.

There is a clearly defined method to khujliwal's madness that makes him extremely dangerous for the dharmics as well as the nation and through him and the aap, the BIF are working to a well set plan. They have also ensnared "two other pillars of democracy" and are shaping the narrative through the one of these pillars and the other pillar has been in the crosshairs of the centre for quite sometime now.

The easiest way to foster a regime change is through the use of these two pillars, one which helps to set the narrative and then the other which helps to push the set narrative which will soon gain international support using some sort of toolkits.

The BIF hand was clearly visible during the dilli riots and the "farmers agitation" as also during the bangalore riots and, furthermore, it was more than visible during the koodankulam, sterlite, the dravidian secessionism + majority bashing and now in the vizhinjam fiasco, all of which have the grubby fingerprints of offshore entities who no no longer care if they have been exposed because in all these cases, they believe that they have reached a self sustaining critical mass.

Annamalai is the blackswan event that the abrahamics in TN never saw coming, and nor is it so easy for the abrahamics to counter him especially after seeing the massive groundswell of increasing public support that is aligning with him. Not for nothing has the center given Annamalai the Y category security. More than anything it is a stark warning by the MAD of the extremely harsh actions that WILL follow if any lakshman rekhas are crossed.

Sameer Wankhede is not sitting in TN because the center has deputed him there to cut vegetables. The recent major drug haul on the rameshwaram coast has his fingerprints all over it, especially the use of the Indian coast guard to arrest the ruling party jehadis, very pointedly bypassing both the state intelligence depts and the state polis

Latest suggestion from one pillar

Consider making lawyers ad hoc judges in HCs for 2-3 years
Noting that many eminent lawyers are willing to take a break for a few years from their booming legal practice to be appointed ad hoc judges in high courts as part of their social responsibility, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre to consider offering them judgeship for two to three years.
The lords seem to think that things like Conflict of Interest are mere theories..

One comment - 'The SC should consider making the senior most convicts and undertrials as judges. After all they have undergone years of experience of the judicial process. And in any case, every sinner has a future'

Methinks the questioning of EC is groundwork prep for creating controversy on 2024 election results. Lot of forces within India would love to see the country in turmoil, and forces outside are salivating at the prospect of a regime change.

VDem, Freedom index etc are not happening in a vacuum. A large proportion of Indian Diaspora in the west - educated, skilled, highly productive, rich, obedient and _can be_ influential, is clearly pro-Govt, pro-India. These dubious reports and rankings are designed to shake the Diaspora's pride and allegiance, thus depriving India of critical leverage which can only grow more powerful in the future.

India is once again the big prize. We propped up Britain for 2 centuries, the US would love to have India at its heel to dominate Asia and take on the Chinese like it has Germany in Europe to take on Russia. Sama, Daana, Bheda, Danda will all be attempted. Melinda wooing Yogi is another sign.

Slander India's image, dilute diaspora's loyalty, pit the three pillars Legislature, Executive, Judiciary against each other, subvert the media, pin a huge ? on election results, force regime change or at the very least create internal turmoil and exploit fault lines - this is what the Govt is faced with.

The Govt seems to have realised this perfect storm is getting brewed, hence the newly discovered vigour to take on the pillar and actually save it. Never too late.

now shehbaz sharif suddenly wants to "revive" SAARC, probably because the pakis desperately need and seek access to Indian leadership, Indian markets for tomatoes, onions, wheat and cotton and Indian goodwill is an essential ingredient for all these paki wet dreams and the pakis are almost hysterically hoping for an Indian response via the back channel approaches.

the german FM, who has now completely changed her superior aryan tone and tenor in India, has certainly brought messages from both the amerikis and the pakis and some ameriki babooze thomas west who visited to discuss India's role in afghanistan which usually means they are looking at India to once again "accommodate" the pakis.

Though there seems to be a coordinated attack by the Law Min, President & VP on the collegium system, today Rijju poured cold water on it by saying that the Govt is not looking at bringing the NJAC bill again. I think the milords were sensing that this might happen, given the upcoming Winter Session.

If nothing is going to be done about NJAC, what's the point of all this noise? Is it just to scare away the SC and tell them stay within their boundaries, or else....

German foreign minister Annalina Baerbock's visit seemed pointless. The joint statement with Dr SJ was devoid of anything significant except the mobility agreement, the press Q&A that followed was a disaster for her. Then she does a backpacker's itinerary on Day 2 to Chandi chowk patli gali and rounds off with Amritsar golden temple visit. WTF? I mean why waste everyone's time? Even if she had some message from Pakis I'm sure no one in Delhi really cared to listen to it.

Cyrano ji,

One thinks that she may have overstepped by taking a silly position while in pakiland

and maybe, she was sent to make amends for the singularly stoopide utterances that she so rashly made while on a recent visit to pakiland.

the EU may not have been so keen to poke the (Indian) bear now and no EU member has a position that is really independent of the EU itself.

the frenchies may stray off the reservation once in a while but they are somewhat privileged in the sense that they are the emergency bridge to India and the all important Indian leadership and also, the frenchies are just being frenchies when they do stray.
