Gents, what is your take on the MNS v/s SS fight in Maharashtra? MNS seems to be becoming uber-communal and playing Hanuman Chalisa right at the time of Muslim call for prayers? . I am a cynical person in general, and this "fight/clash" between erstwhile brothers-in-arms seems to suspicious. Are both parties trying to play as a tag team with the ultimate aim of hitting BJP? We have a case in KA, where three industrialist brothers have spread themselves across all parties, so much so that irrespective of which party rules KA, their interests are safe guarded.

These two don't get along, they never have, and in fact, not even when they were very much younger and the père tigre was in commandSachin wrote:Gents, what is your take on the MNS v/s SS fight in Maharashtra? the son (uddav) and heir, is not capable but the nephew (raj) and not the heir, is far more capable but also unpredictable, hugely egotistical and uncontrollable. raj is not a team player and uddav is extremely entitled and easily controlled/influenced by onion merchants and newspaper editors and entities of that ilk.
uddav actually desired that Modi-Shah kow tow to him in his house matroshree and touch his feet publicly as the anointed successor of the père tigre and keep him propped up as the head of the alliance in MAH as well as acknowledge the SS as the senior partner of the BJP nationwide and not only in MAH. He tried to muscle in on the Ayodhya issue when everyone knows that the SS had little part to play in it.
SS also started demanding heavily yielding "ATM" ministries at the center with independent charge so that they could siphon out some "spending money". Suresh prabhu was a SS minister who did not oblige them and so they got Suresh prabhu sacked. Later, the BJP got Suresh prabhu into the BJP party and took him into the govt again which upset the princeling even further
the SS has always been a खाते पीते type of enterprise
Now, uddav knows that he has made a major and life changing mistake that will finish off the die-nasty, but does not know how to walk the self created disaster back. "onions and newspapers" have brought about his downfall in a pre planned and deceitful manner and he is too helpless to even retaliate. He has been unwittingly forced to carry the politically toxic muzi!m torch and run with it. He will pay dearly for such foolishness because he will not have the electoral trust from any community or vote bank
Also, raj was the preferred successor among the overwhelming bulk of the SS cadres but things did not go his way because of the die-nasty angle and the need for the père tigre to propagate the vansh
Re: 2021 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
Raj has been on the pay of Kaka for the last two decades. He is also in the same mould as BT and expects BJP leadership to touch his feet. Whatever drama he is playing now or in the future, one can be sure that he is going to do is what Kaka wants.

The Sena at the moment will be hard pressed to get more than a handful of seats at the moment. They have lost all credibility and even hard core supporters are deserting it. They are banking on the alliance to carry them, but if they cant manage more than 15 seats the value of Sena is nothing. Massive vote transfer will happen to BJP and NCP in the next election.
Raj is an opportunist. MNS on its own has zero influence. He wont be able to get more than 3 seats in assembly at the moment as he does not have the funds for it. His impact is limited to winning a few municipal bodies and panchayat elections and he knows it. He does have the pulse of the people and hence the Hanuman chalisa drama trying to be different. Someone said he is in kakas pay… that may be true, but essentially he is for the biggest bidder. He was rich with funds from the sale of mills in Mumbai but with the new laws and a lot of transactions increasingly being 90-100% white, that source has dried up.
The one utility he has is that he is a counter for UT figuratively and for the puppet masters behind UT. Some voters sadly fall for the nonsense that spews from Sanjay Rauts mouth, Raj is a good foil for that.

Re: 2021 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
recent comments passed by CJI Ramana might have pricked and irked many, but it would be wrong to assume that he was targeting the PM or central govt exclusively. The functioning of Govt departments across the country are so pathetic and full of apathy, carelessness and think they are still working for some exploitative colonial power and not for the people of this country.
`
As an example see this court case where KA HC judges are unable to get the state health dept to upgrade a govt hospital despite their personal followup of a PIL case filed in 1996 - after 2 years of increased focus on health Services following the pandemic.
99 crores for an MRI machine sounds highly exaggerated.
this hearing ends with the judges. ordering salary witholding of the concerned principal secretary until all the work is completed. Excellent move, but a cut from the MRI machine price will make this irrelevant. The judges should also recover court fees and litigation costs from all concerned govt employees who were ineffective since 1996. But even with all that our Augean stables will take more brooms to clean than the earth can produce.

Re: 2021 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
Raj is also extremely extremely lazy as a politician, infact he is unsuitable to be a politician with such low energy and ambition. His recent comments on loudspeakers has a pattern , he wakes up once every couple of years, stirs up a controversy, takes potshot at BJP or SS, does a rally or two and then goes back to sleep. If he was smart he could have orchestrated a breakup or taken over Shivsena after Bala Saheb's death. Given MVA government's abysmal performance, the covid mismanagement which made MH one of the worst performing states in the country, the economic damage thro' unscientific, illogical lockdowns, the palgarh lynching of sadhus, the Ambani extortion case, the cases against Arnab and Kangana, MNS had so many issues to corner Shivsena but Raj Thackeray instead decided to stay mum. I give it another week or two before he goes back to hibernation. He is a useful idiot in the hands of others to keep Uddhav guessing, sort of like the 'Thumsup' brand in Coca Cola arsenal when they want to take aim at rival Pepsi through cheeky ads.
Re: 2021 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
The way in which the "PK plan" is being pushed by the wokes is becoming very suspicious. Really, whose father what goes, if the congis want to safeguard their turf and preserve their ecosystem and defend it from being encroached upon by some alien species of untried "leadership" like PK, as it were.
So, why should the wokes worry about what a political party, of which a vast majority of them are not members, does or does not do.
If they are at all keen to contribute, then let them join up and do so. If not, then let them watch the fun from the side lines. They are not and cannot not become stake holders but will insist on being among the beneficiaries because they are the "hep" guys and "deserve to be rewarded" just for their "hepness" or "khan market" credentials or even lootyens cabal cronies who flash and flaunt their "connections" looking for that famiglia assisted edge that will catapult them into the famiglia habitat patronised ranks and thereby enabling them to cement their permanent position in the moneyed environment where they can feast at will from the limitless access to the ever overflowing public troughs.
the three prospective "clients" whom PK has tried to rope in to get his project off the ground are the ones sitting with vast amounts of uncounted funds in black money; the congis, the party in bihar and the one in WB have decades worth of accumulated funds salted away. The greedy party in telangana also qualifies but it lacks political depth and experienced leadership of national stature. So, he needs not only the party cadres to re-train and re-purpose to his needs but also the vast amounts of stashed away loot to ensure effective electoral penetration by monetary persuasion, specially among the amenable ola-uber varieties.
This is what the author has to say: The failure of the PK plan is the latest instance of the Congress' refusal to countenance structural reforms.
Why is that so?
The intersection of a rigid party bureaucracy in mutual dependence with the weak Gandhis.
until just the other day, deluded punks like him were ceaselessly singing peans to the very same "weak Gandhis" and intoning constant accolades to this "rigid party bureaucracy"
they all see their once unassailable ecosystem that has been breached, sinking inexorably into the morass of history and these nonentities greatly fear getting buried along with it.

^^ No wonder the lutyens "elite" are so rankled - they cannot digest (pun unintended) the sight of a chaiwalla getting honoured thus, with such deep attention paid to his dietary preferences, without being called upon to offer their indispensable and expert guidance on which fork to use for which course. In earlier times, they would be right in the midst of things, freely (pun fully intended) savouring the fine wines and haute cuisine on offer. But recent times have forced them to cool their jets in Delhi, having to be content with watching these events from the confines of India International or Ashoka hotel with only similar brown skinned sahebs for company, and a bill to be settled at the end of each maudlin session.

Guess what this is:
Lentilles blondes cuites à l'étouffé avec legumes de saison dans une mélange intense d'épices de Malabar moulues composée des graines de coriandre, fenouil grecque, cumin et de curcumin, relevé avec de moutard et piments secs de Guntur, saupoudré d'asafoetida et décoré des feuilles de coriandre fraiches. Servi avec des galettes moelleuses de pate de riz fermentée cuites à la vapeur, et de l chutney de noix de coco. Niveau d'épices ***
The French emphasise the nobility/exotic nature of ingredients, how they are cooked/prepared, presented, served etc. The idea is to make you anticipate, salivate, gulp down some more apéritif and work up a raging appetite. They follow it up with dishes that usually live up to the expectation, but in small portions, generous flow of wines and finally a huge bill that you can't be bothered or sober enough to read anymore.
A French chef says, this is how I made it with these ingredients and therefore, this is how you are expected to savour it. An Indian cook says this is what I call my offering for your nourishment and pleasure, hope you like it and discover its pleasures in your own way.
I think the French approach dissects the dish beforehand and takes the mystery and discovery out of it. You can never adequately describe Golgappa, Chaat, Kozhambu, Avial, Pulusu or Biryani and their infinite varieties can be learnt but never actually be taught.
Normative vs Experiential is the difference in approach which reflects in food as it does in many spheres of life.

Re: 2021 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
Maybe OT to this thread(I dont want the Mods to upbraid me but what the heck!!)
Here it goes:
During the Wodeyers of Mysore rule: tradition had it that the Kings afternoon meal was a courtly affair with King and his close courtiers sitting down for Lunch.
The meal had to have a couple of sweet dishes served up.
Story goes on that particular day, the Chef (or the chief cook, as he is called down south) could not think of anything different to serve up.
He was worried of serving up the same dish and face the king's wrath.
Looking at the stocks available, he decided to try something : he picked Gram flour, Desi Ghee and Sugar.
He came up the delightful Barfi
One being summoned to the dining hall, the cook was scared stiff.
Contrary to the cook's worry, the King complimented him on the sweet meat and asked what is it
The cook was stumped(how am I going to tell the king that I just mixed three things)
The quick thinking cook said: My king this is Mysore Paaka(Paaka in Kannada term means type of cooking or caramelizing sugar!!)
Lo and Behold Mysore Pak was born!!

Yes, however the batter is very light as compared to our pakodas or bhajjis where they go in heavy with the gram flour or basinramana wrote:Tempura means some sort of pakoda?
What makes tempura distinctive – different from other 'traditional' fried fare – is the batter itself. Tempura uses no bread crumbs. Instead, it consists of flour, egg and cold water – spices and other forms of starch (i.e. corn starch) may be added
they would have substituted the egg in the traditional tempura with something vegetarian for Modi's sake, especially as billions of trade dollars will ride on a couple of Modi's signatures
Re: 2021 Strategic and Political Analysis-1
I feel the French menu was more accommodating and making a sincere effort to please (only veg but creative) than the Danish menu (basically non-veg and veg sides + add ons out of contemptuous tolerance), which is the most unappetising menu I've come across in a long time.
Cabbage, horse radish, cauliflower, mushrooms, celery etc are tasteless gunk, they need a huge dose of spices which they haven't seem to have used, and incredible chef skills (which we don't know) to make a memorable meal. I know this by experience since we signed up for a weekly supply of organic seasonal veg basket from a local French farm. The only good thing is they're guaranteed to make you lose weight since you can barely eat half a stomach before throwing up with disgust. Poor Modi ji - the sacrifices he does for Bharat.
BTW, this is not the first time Denmark figured prominently in NaMo's Europe visits. Whats on the table I wonder. Some wind turbine tech? Modern industrial farming techniques?

Don't worry Monsieur. I bet Modi ji, being the experienced Gujju that he is, would have carried some desi food (theplas, khakras) with him for the trip
PS: being the troll master that he is I wouldn't be surprised if we get to soon see a photo of him having pakodas on the return flight

if I cannot guess it is becuse I know less about Indian cooking than I know about French . Giveaways are blonde lentils, legumes, intense Malabar something, coriander, fermented vapour, coco. My guess is either vada or dosa/uthappam. Did not find the word crepe or my guess would have been dosa. Without crepe, I'm going for uthappam. Fermented vapor is a pointer to dosa though. I was guessing it to be sambar idly and coconut chutney.SriKumar wrote:if I cannot guess it is becuse I know less about Indian cooking than I know about French . Looks like Guntur piment is famous....Cyrano wrote:"The french have a habit of naming their dishes rather elaborately."
Guess what this is:
Lentilles blondes cuites à l'étouffé avec legumes de saison dans une mélange intense d'épices de Malabar moulues composée des graines de coriandre, fenouil grecque, cumin et de curcumin, relevé avec de moutard et piments secs de Guntur, saupoudré d'asafoetida et décoré des feuilles de coriandre fraiches. Servi avec des galettes moelleuses de pate de riz fermentée cuites à la vapeur, et de l chutney de noix de coco. Niveau d'épices ***
