Plus there are those within the BJP who will find their own prospects threatened by these "outsiders" and may sow discord internally because of it.
I've been thinking along the same lines. Culture of an organization is important and while fresh blood is important, we should guard against spies or old darbaris getting too close to power while folks who worked hard for the party for decades get sidelined.

Sorry to sound dismissive, but this is just general speculations. These "admission of turncoats" issues have been debated ad nauseam in all parties especially BJP. Sure, there is some risk in taking in the wrong people, but in most cases these things are worked out in advance and there is a specific plan for what the newcomers are expected to bring (both upfront as well as in future as a party worker). For example, in Goa the party was working for months on figuring out what to do with these INC turncoats. Same thing with the likes of Hardik, Alpesh et al in Gujarat. It's not like the BJP desperately needed these people. When government formation is urgent, then the considerations are different. These are managed as much as possible.

The Maharashtra example given above is totally misleading. The fall in seats of BJP+SS in 2019 relative to 2014 had almost nothing to do with defectors/turncoats. It was all due to the stupidity and laziness of Thakre and his cronies in the SS. These idiots managed to negotiate 130+ seats for themselves but came a cropper with useless candidates and ****** up the total tally.

As for BJP, 2019 was a stellar result compared to 2014.

In 2014, there was no pre-poll alliance and the BJP had to contest 260 seats on its own. It got 122 seats (barely 47% success rate). In the 2019 election, with good party management and candidate selection by Farnavis et al, the BJP won in 105/152 seats, an amazing success rate of 70%. On the other hand, the SS failed miserably in its management and got a paltry 45% success rate even with BJP voters helping.

Not only that, the BJP got almost the same number of total votes in 2019 (14.2M) contesting on only 152 seats, as compared to 2014 (14.7M) contesting on 260 seats. That's an excellent performance.

SS vote share in 2014 was 19.5% (10.2M votes) and in 2019 fell to 16.4% (9M votes).

Basically, the BJP and SS stats indicate that BJP candidates in 2019 were well supported by voters of both parties and strongly defeated the INC+NCP alliance. However SS candidates fared poorly overall.

One can also argue that Amit Shah gave SS enough rope to hang themselves with (i.e. lots of seats to contest but without enough voter support) in order to expose their weakness.

Thakre saw the writing on the wall (i.e. his votes could be easily transferred to BJP) and decided on an even more idiotic scheme to join MVA. Nitishwa in Bihar seems to be on the same path.

The delta is 1.2M votes between the 2014 and 2019 Assy elections. And this was despite BJP supporting the SS in 2019.
IOW SS lost its vote share significantly in 2019.
It wasn't just the candidates but a major defection of the SS vote bank.
This fact is not commented upon.

^^Karrect wonly. Also see my post above.

PS: Mayawati in UP also sees the same problem and stays away from any formal alliance with BJP.

This is why I keep saying that BJP is steadily taking the vote share of almost all "family/one-man business" parties.

Maharashtra state elections were largely influenced by low voter turnout and rebel candidates. Both BJP & NDA underperformed to pre-polls numbers due to the 2 factors.

Thus, i take all pre polls with a pitch of salt. Ultimately, the voter turnout determines the result. As of today, those 2 states has no pro-incumbency and thus, the question beholds in will BJP voters turn out in great numbers on election day?

Freebie sops being promised by all Opposition leaders.
Nitish promises special category for all ten BC states. Basically loot for the politicians.
Revdiwal is promising free electricity.
RaGa is talking unemployment in his Todo Yatra.
Soren wants to create exclusive Santhal state in Jharkhand.
Pawar is being sidelined as heat is on him.

Two evil duo Prashant Kishore and Yogendra Yadav are advising.

Bottomline is Opposition temple run is over as Hindus have consolidated!

BJP won 4 out of 7 bye-elections.
One of them was a no contest for SS.
So it is like 4/6 in different regions of India.

one thing which is being noticed is AAP % Trend has been steadily increasing; though its eating vote share of Cong rather then BJP; BJP also is not taking them lightly - see this article - https://www.rediff.com/news/column/rame ... 221104.htm
Amit Shah has cautioned party insiders to ensure that AAP does not cross a vote share of 24%.
He has always seen AAP as a much more significant challenge than the Congress

Over the years, the BJP has been steadily slipping in state election after election.

In 2002, it won 127 seats; in 2007, it fell to 117. In 2012, it further fell to 115; in the last election in 2017, it was just 99. The Congress got 77. That was hardly a big win for the BJP.

What should worry the BJP is that this time, it faces an aggressive electorate of edgy Patidars, angry farmers, disillusioned tribals, police, transport and ASHA employees demanding better wages.

AAP is the demon that the BIFs are trying to raise by feeding on the corpse of Congress. Has someone done an audit of where they get their funds from?

How can a party suddenly fight elections in so many states, without significant fund infusion?

AAP was created as alternative to BJP when INC was facing headwinds in 2011, now as pointed out it seems INC plus Regional players will work in East and South India and AAP in West and North India.

It fits perfectly with Break India Forces.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar will file defamation suit against Kejriwal for calling him ‘Thug’(Conman); 'I Paid For Goa And Punjab Elections' Another Stunning Claim By Conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar

https://zeenews.india.com/india/conman- ... 32449.html
Conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar CHALLENGES Arvind Kejriwal: `RESIGN if you have GUTS; ready to be hanged if proven WRONG`

Jailed conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar, who has made explosives allegations against Delhi’s ruling AAP leaders, has now challenged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to resign from his post even if a single allegation made by him turns out to be true.

■ The conman said that if the charges made by him against jailed Delhi minister Satyendra Jain, Kejriwal and the AAP party turn out to be false, he is ready to be hanged.
■ "I request you to direct an urgent CBI investigation and allow me to file an FIR as the pressure is getting too much and any undue event may take place before the truth about AAP is exposed"
■ He also alleged that he is being threatened by AAP leader Satyendar Jain and ex-DG (Prisons) of Tihar jail after his complaint to the Delhi L-G went public.
■ The conman has earlier alleged that a total amount of Rs 50 crore was paid to the AAP as he was promised an important party position in south India.
■ In his previous letter to Delhi LG, Sukesh had alleged that he was forced to pay Rs 10 crore "protection money" to the Aam Aadmi Party minister Satyender Jain.

It may be noted that on Friday, the LG Office confirmed that DG Prison Sandeep Goel has been transferred with immediate effect via an official order from the Home Department of the Government of National Capital of Territory of Delhi.

Before this, give some thought as to how and why, a completely unknown stretcher bearer of the empire from south africa, who was was transplanted to India, quite literally out of the blue, and inserted willy nilly into the "Indian freedom movement" and almost instantaneously emerged as one of the congi power elites with unlimited veto power in the INC.

who helped said stretcher bearer to quickly manoeuvre djinnah out of the leadership sweepstakes (disappointed djinnah departed for england soon thereafter and only returned many years later, more kattarpanthi and vengeful than ever) and positioned neverwho among the frontrunners.

he also instrumental in the side lining of SCB and Sardar Patel to keep his [(?) or was it the choice of the India office in whitehall)] protégé neverwho in the limelight and more importantly, in the running

was there a khujliwal then too, supported by the BIF during India's "independence" movement ....and who suddenly appeared out of the blue, just like this khujliwal did

Talks about JDU merger with RJD. It seems inevitable, but what's the plan of Nitish? He really thinks himself as the compromise opposition candidate for 2024?

Else, RJD+others just needs 1 more seat, and they can form government without JDU as well. They could even break 1-2 MLAs even from the BJP camp.

Was watching political analysis of an old time journalists - Pradeep Singh. He is of the opinion that Sushasan-babu wants to cobble back old Janata Party (of VP Singh fame) by bringing together JDU, RJD, SaPa, RLD, INLD, DeveGowda etc so that he can be one of the 2024 candidates by virtue of having some pan-INdia kind of presence. And looking at INC situation today - he may just become LOP in 2024 standing opposite to NaMo.

A question to all the constitutional experts and the 'Silverbacks' on the forum:
Should we look at a nation-wide general election for states and the Union.
A mid-term elections for vacancies in the state and centre as well as the RS seats!
Is this possible/plausible/doable.
Will this push the polity to a two or three party system and root out dynastic regional family or caste based ones.
This will reduce the cost to the exchequer wont it??
And all the funding/expenditure etc could be audited more easily??

Rsatchi saar there is a strong call for this already from various corners.
One nation, one election: Burden of too many polls; political appetite, not hedging, is answer
The non-stop cycle of general elections has provoked a stream of counter-points culminating in the catchy call of 'One Nation, One Election'. Besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former President Pranab Mukherjee, key institutions like the Parliamentary Standing Committee, Election Commission, Law Commission and Niti Aayog have seen merit in the case.

Pratyush ji,

The two recent extraditions that have been okayed by the britshit courts are directly linked to the dilli cosa nostra.

Surely BIF forces have been activated to stall/stop the said extraditions but when the "businessmen" get to India and sing, as they surely will, then many glass houses may be endangered and all cosa nostra supported/funded PM candidates may bite the dust.

These two extraditions, if they do happen, are expected to have a considerable political blast radii.

la.khan ji,

One can only hope but the britshits are with their backs to the wall and are hoping for many concessions from PM Modi.

There has never been a doubt that they are just a nation of weaponized shopkeepers. With them, it has always been profits before principles.

they are probably politically and diplomatically, selling nirav modi and sanjay bhandari to India to shore up their bottom line.

brexit has not only isolated them from europe but also turned the EU vengeful, with the bitter reaction of a rejected suitor.

baba biden has so far ignored their fevered pleas for a cosy trade treaty.

which leaves only the foolish Hindus, with their burgeoning economy and huge market in play.

But the unknown and unpredictable factor remains PM Modi. Let's wait and see how things develop.

Deal or no deal, its high time that India broke free of the long lingering colonial stink and stigma of the commonwealth association.

No way should India accept some the Pharmaceutical related IPR rules that UK might be forcing on India's Pharmaceutical Industry. This is based on "leaked chapter" from UK's Draft FTA text.

Refer below link

Reject UK proposals on IP in FTA: Medical NGO ( Médecins Sans Frontières ) to India
The UK's demands are seeking to gut India's patent and drug regulatory laws of the safeguards that make it a manufacturing powerhouse. India is a major supplier of many of the affordable, lifesaving generic medicines that MSF and many countries rely on to treat people with diseases like tuberculosis (TB), malaria, and HIV/AIDS. The excessive measures included in the draft IP chapter of the UK-India FTA could jeopardize this

India concluded a treaty with UK for extradition way back in 1992 (It was called Treaty for Mutual Legal Assistance or something like that). Some years ago, there was a news item, where it was mentioned that till date there has been just one solitary case of extradition. Even that was a case of extradition by voluntary consent! So let us not hold our breadth on getting Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya etc extradited anytime soon.

Saralax: yes, there was also an OpEd in the TOI-let paper about this. The profiteering, super-restrictive conditions by the pharma lobby is a fly in the ointment of the FTA.

In related news, Pfizer has gone on record stating how great Covid was and how its a perpetual money-making machine, just like annual flu shots are.

About 35% of Sikhs voted for BJP.
It's only recently that the Sikh outreach into BJP has started.
About 60% of Hindus voted for BJP.
The overall difference is 2.9% in vote share.

All in all the experts were predicting wipeout and anti-incumbency and were ready to slaughter the BJP leaders without any proof.
Also, exit polls are motivated bokwas.

I will say this:

Delhi MCD is the last win for AAP with a free ride. Now they have to perform or perish.

AAP has to govern now and not just get power.

Good news on Sikhs Hopefully they can capture 50%. The more the AAPtards mess up in Punjab, the more Sikhs will jump to BJP bandwagon
12% Congress is a concern. That moved from AAP to CON party. Atleast 6% should have been captured by BJP
