TSP is not part of the G20 and IIRC not even in the list of 40 largest economies, let alone 20. So where does the question of them boycotting it arise?

In a few hours the historic G20 meet on tourism begins in picturesque Kashmir!

G20 nations await a grand welcome at the global event in India’s Kashmir valley to witness the transformation after Article 370 abrogation.

Tourism takes over terrorism.

Registration is still open. China did say no. Other countries being quoted are Turkey, Indonesia & Saudi. Indications are that may be Turkey may snub, but Saudi and Indonesia are going to attend ... we will see.

Jammu and Kashmir residents receive calls to come out on streets against G20 meeting, block Srinagar airport
Ahead of the G20 meeting in Srinagar, Jammu, and Kashmir police have issued an advisory against some international mobile numbers for spreading rumors about the upcoming G20 event in the Union Territory. The advisory came as several people reported getting automated calls on their phones asking them to come out on the street and block the Srinagar International Airport to stop the G20 meeting.

The police advised the residents of Jammu and Kashmir to remain cautious against such calls and not respond to any of the following numbers- 44 7520 693559, 447418343648, and 44 7520 693134, 44 7418 343648 or any other ISD number/virtual numbers which are suspicious.

Registration is still open..but around this time over 60 delegates expected to attend.
No one from Pakistan is invited ( They are not in G20) so it's fun to see them humiliating themselves.

Kashmir is welcoming...

By refusing to attend G20 in J&K, China has made a blunder. Its has deprived itself from any chance of conducting an international event in Chinese occupied Tibet or Xinjiang or Inner Mongloia ityaadi. The last thing they want is _any_ reference to the territories its annexed in the past as being "disputed". But now they have open the door full wide.

India still hasn't mentioned Sakshgam valley etc... all at the right time.

After needlessly rankling India and torpedoing whatever uneasy entente that existed by mobilising across LAC and Galwan shenanigans, and shooting itself in the foot, this is a second blunder that will cost the Chinese for decades to come. So much for 'the fart of war' wisdom and Xi's eternal path or whatever.

PM Modi seeks G7-G20 cooperation to counter CCP expansionism
T BRAJESH, May 21, 2023

NEW DELHI: In what is being viewed as a savage response to China amid the CCP-inspired expansionist activities in the Indo-Pacific and in other regions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi just hours before the Quad meeting and the G7 Summit on Saturday said that India stood for respecting sovereignty and adherence to international law. “India is committed to protecting its sovereignty and integrity while promoting peaceful resolution of maritime disputes based on international law,” PM Modi said in an interview with Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun in Hiroshima. He was referring to China’s assertive military activities in the South China Sea and East China Sea.
PM Modi’s remarks assume significance as they came hours after China announced that it would skip the G20 tourism working group meeting in Jammu and Kashmir this week. “China firmly opposes holding any form of G20 meetings on disputed territory. We will not attend such meetings,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a media briefing. India is hosting the third G20 tourism working group meeting in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on 22-24 May. Diplomatic sources privy to the details of PM Modi’s bilateral and other high level engagements in Japan told The Sunday Guardian that PM Modi during his newspaper interview not only sent out a strong message to China on territorial integrity and sovereignty, but also sought to set the narrative for member countries of the G7 and the Quad to focus on Chinese aggressive behaviour in the Indo-Pacific and other geographies. “As India holds the G20 presidency, PM Modi is on a massive diplomatic mission to achieve much stronger collaboration between the G20 and G7 to deal with aggressive China. The mission has gained momentum with PM Modi setting the narrative and agenda for the international community to collectively call out China’s belligerence,” sources told this newspaper. PM Modi’s remarks are self-explanatory in this context. During the same interview, he underlined the G7 and G20 Summits as “crucial platforms for global cooperation”. Nothing could explain the PM’s mission seeking collaboration between the two groupings better than his own statement, “As the G20 chair, I will represent the perspectives and priorities of the Global South at the G7 Summit in Hiroshima. Strengthening collaboration between the G7 and G20 is vital in addressing global challenges like climate change, supply chain disruptions, economic recovery, energy instability, healthcare, food security, and peace and security.”
Diplomatic officials told The Sunday Guardian, PM Modi’s reference to G7 and G20 collaboration for “peace and security” should be seen in the context of his plan to unite the global community to deal with an aggressive China which is increasingly becoming a more challenging threat to global peace. “The mission also includes diplomatic outreach to the global community in a bid to expose China’s hypocrisy when it refers to J&K as a disputed territory,” sources said, adding, “Beijing continues to go ahead with the so-called CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) project in the PoK, which has been recognised as disputed territory by China itself in its 1963 agreement with Pakistan,” said an official. India has always registered its protest over CPEC, which is a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India. “It is China which is not respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries,” said diplomats.

The event in Kashmir is the 3rd tourism related meet that India is hosting. The focus is on film tourism to boost the economy, along with showcasing eco tourism and local crafts. Kashmir is a more logical venue for this, than most of India. The emphasis is to get private sector participants who can boost tourism. e.g. A Bollywood delegation is more relevant than having a govt bureaucrat attend. It's not as if foreign ministers have been invited and did not attend. The countries who have `boycotted' Kashmir have (with China being the only exception) sent private delegations.

China did not learn it lesson and tried (and failed) to derail the meeting in Kashmir...
But China tried (and failed) to derail India's G20 youth summit in Ladakh in late April.

China tried to pressure youth organisations from G20 countries to skip the Youth20 Pre-Summit in Ladakh..
India was set to host the Pre-Summit of Youth20, a youth engagement group under the G20, in Ladakh

This pre-summit was scheduled for April 26 and would be followed by the final summit
This April meet was a big deal because of India's decision to hold G20 meets in Kashmir & Ladakh.

China invited youth organisations from G20 member states to Beijing for a youth conference in March
(These same orgs were scheduled to attend the Y20 meeting in Ladakh on 26 April)
Once these orgs were in Beijing, China attempted to convince them not to attend the youth meet in Ladakh
Chinese govt told them that Ladakh was disputed territory & that they should avoid the meeting etc..

New Delhi soon caught wind of China's mischief.. (Very proud of EAM)
Youth20 organisers began lobbying international youth orgs to attend the Ladakh summit

China's efforts ended in failure as over 100 delegates from over 30 countries attended the Ladakh Y20 meet on April 26.. (except China and Pak - who was not invited anyway..LOL!)

What makes me happy that .. India has been aggressive/assertive on the question of Ladakh & Kashmir. The issue of India's hosting a G20 meeting in these parts were known for a long time but I don’t think the Chinese expected India would go ahead with this"

China may have thought that other countries would also be opposed to it but the opposition to this has crumbled, there is pressure on them to demonstrate that they continue to hold the candle on this issue for Pakistan ..

India’s ability to “mainstream” Ladakh and Kashmir by holding G20 meetings has been a point of consternation for Beijing but India has solidified control which means that leverage has disappeared...

(Sources - quite reliable - hope it makes newspapers...)

For the record: 3 Islamic countries - Indonesia, UAE & Bangladesh - attended Srinagar G20 meet. Indonesia is a member of the grouping, while UAE & Bangladesh are invited guests. All 3 are members of OIC.
--
Representing Bangladesh was its High Commissioner Mustafizur Rahman, while the UAE sent two officials from its capital.

The presence of Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim-majority country and a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as well as the G20, was particularly noteworthy.

----
Three G20 member countries—China, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey officially did not send their delegations - (Though Saudi Arabia has (unofficial) representation.
Two 'guests' who are not members but were invited by India did not 'register' officially. (Again Egypt did send unofficial representation.)

Pakistan - who is not a member of G20, (and was not invited either :rotfl: ) made a lot of statements (some of them even got published in BBC and Dawn), but their terrorists were kept away... some of them got caught in Kishtwar by SIU.

Pakistan is *really* miffed.. Iot of statements...eg from mofa dot paki

I read somewhere Armenia is now suddenly abandoning war for Ngorno-Karabagh. Why is that? Would it be due to Western pressure?

No, it's because Armenia is no longer able to support the population of the enclave after the defeat of 2020.

It has no lines of communication to the place. In order of continue fighting, it will have to secure logistics and then reverse the losses of 2020.

It doesn't look like it's capable of achieving this at this point of time.

Any such multilateral grouping has the liberty to have special non-member invitees if they wish, and chair/host country is willing. Like India is invited to G7, and so was Ukra-een even when both are not members.

Ukra-een is the posterboy of NATOs friendly adoption and Z is even better than katora khan. Good that India has shut the door firmly on his face. We have other business to do.

Putin told Modi he wont come to India for G20 during their phone call this week.

IMO this has nothing to do with their ICJ arrest warrant. He has actually totally disengaged with G7 countries as he said in multiple speeches since the Ukr war began and sees no point to attend G20 personally where once again the G7 will try to derail over Ukraine. As BRICS increases in power and relevance, G7 and then G20 will fade.

I have my doubts. He is unsure as to how he will be received and if he suffers any slight, intentional or otherwise, loss of face will be intolerable. Too large an audience and a free pres. Risk is too large. (IMHO)

Post the new map. He has to attend.

The objective of this visit today is to humiliate India. See we changed map. You still have to respect us.

The solution is simple.

Release a new map. With an independent Tibet, and the Uigur regions of China. Do it when he is in India.

Release map, worry India will do the same, skip meeting, slap self. Waah re Gyaarah Baje! :rotfl:

India should release new map with free Tibet and Taiwan and at the same time affirm one china policy. Only we will define what that "one" is - vaguely...

The C in BRICS is now openly a liability.

I think there is much taqleef within the Chinese MoFA because of the way we downgraded SCO and torpedoed the Chinese strategy at BRICS. We didn't play nice and kowtow to the emperor. This is their way of revenge, which is too bad because it's only going to show them in poorer light than before. MEA will play this hand very well.
