DDMitis galore....
This apart, DRDO has already identified many sick State-owned PSUs in South India that it can enter into joint ventures with for fabrication and assembly of advanced weapons.
State-owned PSUs? Thats a clear redundancy, if I've heard one.
And what's this JV biz with sick PSUs for making advanced weapons?

More likely, the real estate is being quietly taken over for the really classified stuff. Dunno how enthused our mallu commies would be to give land for such obviously imperial-capitalist projects like 2nd strike mil capability if the nartional level comraids are anything to go by. Maybe the kerala commies are genuinely patriotic, who knows. One can hope, at least.

Superficially, the place will look ramshackle on the outside. All tenders, RFPs etc will go out on the drab sick-PSU stationery onlee. All those high precision machne tools, the high fidelity electonics, the fault tolerant subsystems.... aaah, all ending up in 'loss' making PSUs coz their publicly accessible order books are empty-shempty onlee... Hey, admittedly, just speculationg here but sure feels good, mussay. Jai Bharat!

VSudhir, I think the meaning here is State owned vs Center owned. There are a lot of small scale engineering firms propped up by state govts. And yeah, they have all aspect stealth :P

And commies - not really happy. But then the state leaders have to deal with electorate and stuff. That irritating aspect of democracy that the Complan Comrades* of Delhi do not have to care about, when they suck upto PLA.

* This "Complan Comrade" is a derisive term for Karat and co, that one hears in private from some realists amongst the state level left leaders (yeah, they exist, but they have no breadth of vision nor networking to reach national level channels). Apt name :)

Other categories are Corporate Comrades, Compass comrades and Chowmein Comrades :D Hmm.... maybe we should have an article in the op-ed thread on the left ecosystem in Kerala.

Massa has planted sensors, complete with nuclear batteries, on Himalayan peaks... so Nepal isn't safe as ATV base.
Maybe a tunnel deep under the deccan....
