What about Major Saravanan. After all he was the guy most praised and most martyred by everybody. Have they forgotten him? Or is there another list pending?

Hip Hip Hurray to the Grenadiers. They have now the honour of having the most PVC's (four of them) among all the Indian Army Regiments. A great feat indead.
Could someone post the complete list of award, when available on the BR ( including VrC, PVSM, AVSM etc)
Also I agree with Appu that there should be a brief write up or a link to the write up about the actions of the gallantry award winners( PVC. MVc & VrC)
Thanks
JAI JAWAN
JAI HIND

Some details from the TOI:
Param Vir Chakra for four Kargil
heroes
Dinesh Kumar
NEW DELHI: The soldiers and pilots who sacrificed their lives,
engaged in unparalleled valour and fought the recent war in the
killer mountains of Kargil were remembered again on Saturday
with a grateful nation bestowing gallantry awards, including the
Param Vir Chakra (PVC), on a total 264 defence personnel.
Many of them being young officers and soldiers barely in their
twenties.
Remember Capt. Vikram Batra, the officer who had proclaimed
Dil maange more while fighting the enemy; Sqn Ldr Ajay Ahuja,
who was shot down, tortured and killed; Maj. M Sarvananan and
Capt. Haneefuddin, whose bodies were recovered after over a
month; Flt Lt. K Nachiketa, who was taken prisoner and then
returned to a bear hug; Capt. N Kenguruse, the young Naga who
scaled the mountains without his shoes... the list is long and full of
names of those who displayed rare grit and courage.
In a unique gesture, the highest gallantry award - the PVC - was
conferred on as many as four soldiers, three of them
posthumously. The second highest gallantry award - Maha Vir
Chakra (MVC)- has been conferred on nine soldiers (eight
officers, five of them posthumously); 55 Vir Chakras (VrCs) -the
third highest award. The list also includes a large number of Sena
Medals (SM), Vayu Sena Medals (VM) and
Mention-in-Despatches (M-in-Ds).
The four PVC recipients include two young officers who
displayed personal bravery and leadership of the highest order -
Capt. Vikram Batra (13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles) and Lt.
Manoj Pandey (1/11 Gorkha Rifles) as well as Grenadier
Yogender Singh Yadav (18 Grenadiers) - all posthumous. The
fourth recipient, Rifleman Sanjay Kumar (13 JAK Rifles) joins
the exclusive list of the just three PVC recipients who are still
alive. Also, the 13 JAK Rifles is the first Army unit to have got
the unique distinction of being conferred with two PVCs in the
same operation.
Capt. Batra - the Army's first captain to be awarded a PVC -
captured Point 5140 (Drass sector) after two earlier attempts had
met with limited success. After prevailing upon his commanding
officer to let him lead the battalion attack, the young company
commander decided to take the enemy position from the rear
along a rock face. Despite being grievously wounded, he
regrouped his men and continued to lead from the front after an
enemy machine gun nest trapped the troops in murderous fire.
It was a similar story with Lt. Manoj Pandey - again the Army's
first lieutenant to be awarded the PVC - after he continued to
rush from bunker to bunker to urge his men to carry on fighting.
This, despite being shot in the leg and shoulder in Batalik sector's
Juber Top. The story was no different with Grenadier Yoginder
Singh Yadav, who scaled a sheer vertical cliff by rope to
annihilate two enemy bunkers atop Tiger Hill and killed seven
Pakistani soldiers.
The last PVC was awarded 12 years ago in 1987 to a soldier
each for operations in Siachen and Sri Lanka. Also, this is the
second highest number of PVCs awarded in a single operation in
India's post-Independence history. Earlier, five PVCs were
awarded in the 1947-48 war. After including Saturday's figures,
the total number of PVC recipients, mostly posthumous, now
stands at 21, which also includes an Air Force pilot.
The list of nine MVCs, of which a total eight have been awarded
to officers, include Major Sonam Wangchuk of the Ladakh
Scouts who kept up the legacy of another Ladakh hero Colonel
Renchen, twice decorated with a MVC in the 1947-48 and the
1965 Indo-Pakistan wars. The list includes Maj. Vivek Gupta,
Maj. Padmapani Acharya, Capt. N Kenguruse and Naik
Digendra Kumar, all belonging to 2 Rajputana Rifles for the
capture of Tololing feature; Maj. Rajesh Singh Adhikari and Lt.
Balwan Singh, both 18 Grenadiers; Capt. Anuj Nayyar (17 Jat)
and Lt. Keshing Clifford Nongrum (12 JAK Light Infantry).
Of the 55 VrCs, 53 have been awarded to armymen (22 officers,
total 30 posthumous) and two to Air Force pilots (one
posthumous). A significant VrC awardee is Sqn Ldr Ajay Ahuja,
who was captured, tortured and killed after his MiG-21 M was
shot down on May 26 in the Batalik sub sector.
While the bulk of the Army's gallantry awards have been
conferred on infantry officers and soldiers, only three VrCs have
been awarded to artillery soldiers even though the artillery, by the
Army's admission, had played a prominent role in softening
enemy positions.
Besides, 83 SMs (31 posthumous) have been awarded. Of this
list, 11 have gone to the artillery and just one to the Army
Aviation Corps. Of the 24 VM recipients, four have been
awarded posthumously. Of the 73 Air Force personnel awarded
M-in-Ds, 60 are officers, most of whom again are pilots who
took part in the air operations in Kargil code named `Operation
Safed Sagar'.
The four posthumous VM awardees include the two pilots of the
Mi-17 helicopter gunship that was shot down on May 27. A
significant VM recipient is Flt. Lt. Nachiketa who was taken
prisoner on May 27 after he ejected from his MiG-27 due to
engine trouble.
The awards list also includes a solitary Sarvottam Yuddh Seva
Medal to the western air command chief Air Marshal Vinod
Patney; the Uttan Yuddh Seva Medal to seven officers, including
the Srinagar Corps commander Lt. Gen. Krishen Pal and the 8
mountain division commander Maj. Gen. Mohinder Puri; and
eight Yuddh Seva Medals, which includes eight Air Force officers
- mostly commanding officers of the participating squadrons.
Significantly, there is no award for the commander of the 3
Infantry Division, Maj. Gen. V.S.Budhwar

Rakesh,
CQMH Abdul Hamid did not recieve his PVC. His Recoil-less gun fitten onto the Jeep was blasted by the Pakis. But before that, he had finished off three Paki teams.
And regarding YS Pandey. Pandey is a sur-name, I think in prevelance in UP. Gorkha regiment will only have Gorkhas in the JCO and NCO ranks. And Pandey is not a Gorkha sur-name.
I think Times of India has got wrong info.
------------------
Sachin PK,
http://members.tripod.com/~sachin_pk

In the list of gallantry award winners carried on Saturday, the word ``posthumous'' was inadvertently mentioned after the name of commander-in-chief, Western Air Command, Air Marshal Vinod Patney, who received the ``Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal''. The error is regretted.
Air Marshal Patney is the second military officer to get this high award in the history of independent India, the first being Lt Gen A.S. Kalkat (Retd) for leading the IPKF operations in Sri Lanka. The entire air operations in Kargil, which proved to be the turning point, was commanded by Air Marshal Patney
One question how come Lt. Gen Kishen Pal got the UYSM.
It was his troops who made the significant contribution in Kargil. I agree that he shares some of the blame for what happened at Kargil.
