News agency ANI also quoted IAF sources as saying that the "attack" took place at 3:30 am when 12 Mirage 2000 fighter jets "struck a major terrorist camp across the LoC and completely destroyed it with 1,000 kg bombs.

With everyone having cell phones these days and wide social media presence I doubt that it will be possible for the Pakis to manage the narrative and images are likely to leak out from their side as well. I bet the IAF has plenty of targeting imagery that it can release for PR purposes if they see fit. If JF-17's have been downed this is just icing..

Sirs, I am pretty sure our sats are scanning and taking pics of the destroyed camps in Balakot. I hope when the forces confirm this strike, they will show the world what we have done along with visual proof (not that I need it, would be just an added bonus)

These days you don't need to provide SAT images as there will be public and private imagery being taken over this area which will be analyzed and circulated by the media. There is nothing that the Pakis can do to hide the fact that the IAF likely achieved 100% success deep inside their territory nad that their combined forces were able to do nothing about it.

As per what we know, only terror camps have been targeted. if they try to retaliate with air strikes on airbases then we are talking full spectrum war (which I don't think either side wants).

I do not think we will have official confirmation of this. If official confirmation like surgical strike, this would be one-off action.

No GOI confirmation on this would mean next round is going to be even more spectacular!

My guess is that at some point the IAF will release some footage or photos of the strike. Very disappointed GHQ in Rawalpindi and Pak Military Academy in Abbottabad were not hit.

If PAF planes have been downed, whether IAF will report it. Too much H&D problem then, PAF will have to try retaliating. Maybe the "released payload" that fell is a Thundaar. They did claim that they scrambled, so I wonder how they avoided combat, with 12 Indian planes in the sortie. Then again, 50 miles at Mach 0.8 (~450mh) is like 7 minutes from LOC. Also, out of the 12 maybe a few were focused on the PAF, while the rest were tasked with the attack.

If Indian Air Force planes dropped payload in Balakot, they crossed across the LOC, and then across the entirety of Azad Kashmir, and then into Khyber Pakhtukhwa.

India didn't "cross the LOC".

It has attacked Pakistan.

The Mirage 2000s were all likely involved in the ground attack phase of the mission.

Top air cover was likely provided by MiG-29UPG (just like in Kargil) or even the Su-30MKI.

One think we (IAF/GOI/India) have which we did not have before is MUCH better eye in the sky.. The sats and their multi-spectrum, hi-res camera are worth their mass in gold any many times over.
