This Indian media is showing more sense:
OpIndia.com

OpIndia will not be carrying the Pakistan version for any event, either without a rejoinder or without official confirmation from Indian authorities.

based on what? Some sivakasi trail?
lets wait and watch, shall we??

MANPADs in cashmere would be a hugely provocative jehadi/paki upgrade.

If true, the very complexion of the Indian response will drastically change, going forward.

Such a threat would have serious repercussions well beyond cashmere.

IAF in all probability shut down airports on Indian side and switched on SAM's forcing pakistanis to follow suit and close all air traffic since they would not know what could get hit.

Most Indian TV channels still maintain it was a technical failure (for Mi 17 crash)

Many Pubby's twitter just says that Pakistan officially claimed blah blah blah, while stating that *Pakistani Media* is circulating videos. So wait for Indian spokespersons to clarify and update.

Looks like it was shot down deep inside Indian air space. It couldn't have been shot down by the pakis, even if it was indeed shot down.

Sigh. And nobody is thinking about the family of the brave pilot, *assuming* if the news is true! Why not let IAF respond?

We should not get into numbers game, instead it should be objective based mission. It should not be IAF vs PAF or IA vs PA.

At this point it's better to declare war, and start pushing on LOC.

The video does look authentic and the service number quoted matches with supposed records.... This indeed looks like it is now a full scale war.

just imo - its better to press forward now and escalate while a conflict like situation exists.

let us see how and what they do - its a process of discovery.

but the indian public must be aware that there will be losses and hits from their side too. they have never been pushovers.

we are moving beyond a cricket ODI now with wild calls for a sixer in every ball.

whatever conflict has to be pursued will be according to disciplined plan.

According to Republic: Pak Army now admits didn't shoot down any aircraft in Bugdam

Their fake news campaign has been caught in the open.

Don't fall for anything that is not verified by Indian sources.

If we can access the service number and records, so can Pakis, so lets wait for official clarification from Indian govt/military.

That is not entirely clear, though Republic is going to town with it. The never claimed to shoot down a plane in Budgam and neither did anybody attribute the Budgam helicopter crash to Pakistan (at least not directly, manpads are a possibility) as it is far from the LOC.

So this whole point is moot.

I think it is more the MANPADS aspect that scares them. Having Pakistani MANPADS used against Indian aircraft deep inside India is a very serious escalation.

I don’t think 3.5 friends likes the idea of Pakistan supplying MAMPADS to irregulars either. One of them might find their way to JFK or LaGuardia.

If you see the flight suit, then you will see that it says Abhi. I doubt they can fabricate all so fast. It's too foggy now, but I think it is possible that Wingco Abhi got shot down either when he was very close to LOC or maybe he was undertaking a re-retaliatory strike.
